So from what I've gathered from interviews, it seems like before anyone had been cast in Our Flag Means Death aside from Blackbeard, David and Taika were talking about the role of Stede and David said something like "He should have the same vibe as Murray from Flight of the Conchords, who could we possibly get?" and Taika went "Literally there's nothing stopping you from calling Rhys." Meanwhile, Rhys knew about the project and was like "Wow that sounds great! I can't wait to see it :)" and was surprised to get the call, doubly surprised when it was for the lead. David and co. auditioned more than just him, but the other actors, while talented, all played Stede in a way that was kind of unlikable? Before taping his own audition, Rhys called Taika like "I really want this, do you have any advice?" and Taika was like "Calm down it's literally perfect for you." So he did, and the rest is history.

A lot of the more 'drastic' effects that I got within the first few months of HRT have mostly subsided.

But one thing that seems to be 'staying' is that I can giggle myself into a laughing-fit the likes of which I and my friends have never seen. "Are you laughing or crying?" is a phrase I hear at least once a week, and which goes unanswered for a good several minutes before I'm able to regain my composure (the answer typically being 'both' by that point).

i was primed to watch Pit Babe without taking it seriously because i caught wind of it being Omegaverse-lite despite the lieing promos but the fact that the first time i saw Babe's tattoo it was out of focus and i misread it as "Full Sausage" instead of "Full Savage" is only making everything funnier especially because he's spent a LOT of time shirtless so far and it's all i can think of everytime i see it 🤣🤣

watching it on *cough* an undisclosed site *cough* with terrible subtitles is making everything 10x funnier also, some gems so far have been Babe answering his phone and saying something that was subtitled as only "Areola." and it being 50/50 on whether or not Babe is subtitled as Babe or as dear/darling/honey, and phi and nong both being translated as "sis" or "sister" exclusively so Charlie calls Babe "dear sister" more than once and this show has turned into a comedy and you know what? i think i prefer it that way honestly, no ragrets 🤣

Love in translation keeps being the highlight of my Saturday's evenings. What a funny and clever little show. The writing is tight, the humor and the emotional beats all land really well, and while conflicts arise regularly it's never dragged unnecessarily making it incredibly satisfying.

I like the way it never treats its characters like idiots. Oh, they can be silly, they make mistakes and get caught in misunderstandings, they can even make stupid decisions. But they notice. They see how others react, they realize when something go wrong, and they react in consequence. None of them is passive in their various relationships and it has been incredibly enjoyable.

Anyway, please give this one a chance it deserves more hype than it is getting! ( ´ ▽ ` ).｡ｏ♡
