I just want to say that the repeated mentions of Tim being like Bruce - Dick telling Tim that “you’re more like Bruce than I ever was” and even things as small as the other members of Young Justice assuming that Batman is literally Robin’s dad - mean so much to me because like-
Tim is so similar to Bruce. They are both rich kids, only childs, people like them but they never let anyone truly know them. Tim’s deductive ability is so often likened to Bruce’s, and even his combat prowess or leadership skills are more often compared to Bruce’s than Jason’s or Dick’s. Despite being Robin, and the third one at that, Tim really takes being the Batman of the group to an entirely new level with just how much he really is like Batman.
And that’s why they work so well together! Tim and Bruce are so similar, but they’re fundamentally different! Bruce is afraid to get hurt again, afraid to feel connections to other people, afraid of revealing his emotional vulnerability. Tim is afraid of disappointing people, afraid to fail to rise to the standards other people set for him, afraid of revealing that he isn’t as calm as he appears on the outside. Bruce and Tim both begin fighting crime out of love, a love so strong that it would lead either of them to give up their lives for that love, but Bruce does so out of a love for Gotham City and his parents and the legacy they represent to him while Tim does so out of a love for Gotham City and Robin and Batman.
Their partnership is built on their similarities, but it’s improved by their differences. Tim is softer than Bruce. He wants to trust people, he doesn’t enjoy making lists of ways to kill all of his friends. He tries to talk, to draw things out, to banter, while Bruce is more straightforward. Which, honestly, being more subtle than Bruce is a talent in its own right, ngl
Tim is described a lot as the perfect Robin. And, I can’t help but feel like yeah, he is. The writers really made this character perfect for Bruce specifically. Tim is a person who understands what Bruce wants him to do, even if he doesn’t always understand why. Tim cares about Bruce, both Bruce Wayne and Batman, and that care knocks down a lot of Bruce’s walls. Tim wants to fight crime with his friends and enjoy himself, but he also has his main goal which is to protect Bruce, especially from Bruce himself.
And it’s a two-way street. Bruce knows Tim so well. Like, I can’t even begin to describe how well Bruce can read Tim. He can tell that Tim’s care is sincere, and he wants to reciprocate that care. He trusts Tim, on such a deep, foundational level, and he trusts that if Tim lies to him, then Tim has a balid reason for doing so. He’s protective of Tim, even more than Tim is protective of him (for obvious reasons), but he’s also proud of Tim. He’s proud of how Tim can work with people and how Tim can handle his own and how Tim can solve cases.
Bruce and Tim are such a dynamic duo, literally. The understanding they have of each other is amazing. The trust they have in each other. The care. Bruce treats Tim like his son, and Tim honestly treats Bruce like his dad, even while Tim’s birth dad is still alive. These two are great together, they work so well together, they fit each other almost perfectly because Tim was literally made to be perfectly suited for Batman.
And, of course, there is an obsession there. Tim’s obsession with Batman runs deep. He would almost certainly make a great Batman, no matter how you look at it, because he has moments where he reaches that ability to be threatening. Of the times I know that he played Batman, he didn’t do a bad job. He’s intimidating and frightening and he manages to have his cape pulled around himself so he’s just a shape, just like Bruce does, and that’s mostly because he also literally does that same thing as Robin. Tim prefers to be Robin, because he prefers to be partnered with someone else.
(To be completely honest, I think Tim’s first choice of who he would want to be paired with at any given moment is almost certainly Dick. Dude loves that guy. I haven’t seen if Batman Dick and Robin Tim interact in those respective roles, but Tim is almost equally made to be Nightwing’s Robin. Bruce is his second choice though, definitely.)
I have to assume the obsession goes both ways, because the story is a lot more interesting if it does. Bruce is protective of Tim, even as he trusts Tim with the fate of the entire planet. His protectiveness of Tim is funny, actually, because he doesn’t mind Tim fighting gods but he does mind Tim showing the other members of Young Justice his face. (I mean, I get that one of the members is named Impulse, but Bart himself said that Batman gave him that name, so I feel like Bruce bringing it up as a detractor is just a bit hypocritical)
All the times we see Batman with Tim in the Young Justice run, Batman is pretty chill. Like, during the Sins of Youth storyline, when Bruce is Robin and Tim is Batman, Bruce seems totally cool with it. He doesn’t seem worried about Tim messing up. His comments on Tim talking to much read more to me as banter than actual criticisms. Bruce trusts Tim to be Batman, and I find that both sweet and a bit funny for a variety of reasons.
We see Batman get mad when Arrowette says the Justice League doesn’t understand any of the Young Justice members, although even then he just glares at her, he doesn’t say anything. Bruce is like “Yes, I know I don’t understand the majority of human interaction, what of it?” Batman doesn’t say much during that whole comic, actually? Like, he shows up with the rest of the Justice League and he taunts Tim (literally like someone taunting a child pfft) but he doesn’t actually seem to think they won’t pull through? He makes a quip about them being late getting back, but it doesn’t go anywhere, it was him teasing Robin, why was he even here?
(I like to think he kind of hoped Young Justice would disban so he could take Tim back. He obviously wants Tim around, he implies as much in the World Without Grownups arc, and he obviously enjoys Tim’s company, he seems to genuinely enjoy fighting crime with Tim, even when their roles are switched, and he lets Tim talk to Oracle all the time (he definitely could have cut that connection off if he really wanted to make it difficult for Tim during that whole bet thing) Like, Bruce believes that Tim is capable, I think he’s like Wonder Woman and thinks that the others (coughImpulseandSuperboycough) are bad influences. He is taking his boy wonder and leaving to get him good influences, like Nightwi- oh, wait, no, yeah, let’s let him hang out with Impulse and Superboy-)
This turned into a ramble about Young Justice, but I can’t help it!!! I really, REALLY wish that Batman had gone to the parent-teacher conference. Like, Nightwing showing up was wonderful on so many levels, but can you imagine?? Batman?? Dealing with Bonnie King-Jones??? Like, I think if he ever met her he would break the no-killing rule, full-stop, no hesitation. I want to know how the parent-teacher conference would have gone if Batman was there. I think it would have been mostly awkward silence while Batman lurked in the shadows and Red Tornado didn’t understand why everyone was so nervous, like, it’s just talking about what time he should feed their kids, why are you guys sweating-?
I love Tim and Bruce’s relationship. They’re so codependent. I don’t know if Bruce could ever not hold the next Robins up to Tim’s standard. Like, Damian trying to kill Tim makes a lot of sense if you look at it as Damian viewing the situation as “there only needs to be one Robin, and if there is a Tim to be compared to, I will lose.” Dick and Jason were great as Robin, but neither of them were Robin during the period of time in the nineties and early 2000s where Batman got a lot edgier and needed an edgier boy to be Robin. Dick was perfect for the 50s through to at least the 70s, and Jason was probably just fine too (still haven’t read Jason comics hrnng) but Tim fits Bruce perfectly because he was made for the more modern vision of Batman as a character.
Tim is a dweeb and a nerd, just like Dick before him, do not think that he isn’t, but he really works as a balance for Bruce. He was introduced to be that equilibrium, and he fulfills that role.
Tim and Bruce work so well together because they’re just on slightly different sides of a spectrum. They’re so close to being too similar, but they’re dissimilar enough that reading their dynamic is engaging and interesting. Tim really just is the Robin I understand people mistaking for Bruce’s blood kid, y’know? Before Damian, I mean. I feel like the Justice League members met Tim and went “whoa, shit, Batman knocked someone up, holy-“ The Young Justice members continuously genuinelybelieve that Batman is Robin’s dad (which makes it a lot funnier, because if he was Tim’s dad, Tim would essentially be saying: “my dad made me do this and won’t let me do this and to make things worse, my DAD moved us out!” Like, why would he just randomly mention who the subject of the conversation was again at such a pointed time? I understand that Superboy and Bart were not paying attention to him, but it’s just really funny to think that Tim would talk in such a strange way?) I like to think that Dick does not help matters, and instead goes out of his way to worsen them, because Dick is always the one telling Tim that he’s doing great and that he’s so similar to Bruce (he means it as a compliment, like Tim isn’t making the mistakes he thinks he’s making because he, just like Batman, just is unlikely to make mistakes) so I think Dick definitely tells his friends that Robin is Batman’s kid because it’s funny-
And this has gone from rambling about Young Justice to writing fanfiction mid-post, I should really stop while I’m ahead.
All in all, to sum it up, TLDR: Tim was made to be the best Robin specifically for Bruce as Batman. That’s why they work in harmony, but are ultimately entirely different instruments.

hello - do you have any dick grayson-centric fic recs?
do i-do i have any dick grayson centric fic recs?? oh babe you have come to the riGHT PLACE. as any of my mutuals could tell you, i have so many goddamn fic recs it’s not even funny anymore. here are some of my personal top favourites:
1. And The World Came Crashing Down by @zhe-angst-diary  ~5k. a fic centered around dick’s self-sacrificial tendencies, especially for the batfam. a bit angsty, very much feels, a tad ooc, but i really did love it
2. bad signal by @prismatic-et-al 38k. the plotfic to end all plotfics. this author is one of the most brilliant dc fic authors i have ever come across, and the way they weave this dark, mysterious story is nothing short of ingenious. i was on the edge of my seat the entire time. again, brilliant.
3. Breathe In, Breathe Out by @kirazalea ~20k. this woman is one of my all time favourite writers for just some really really good stories about the batfam working through and overcoming their issues. this series is comprised of 2 fics that deal with the batfam discovering how much of an impact other people’s blatant sexualization and dehumanization of dick does to him, and how, over time and with help from his family, he picks himself up and starts to defend himself. really just a wonderful series
4. Declensions by @dustorange 13k. the best rom dick grayson fic to ever exist ever. you ever look at dc making dick romani and how they fuck up all the time and think “this could have had so much potential?” this work of art tackles that issue and creates something spectacular. each line of this fic had me screaming with joy. the robin cape symbolism? beautiful. i reread it all. the. time.
5. Don’t by @haunt-the-stars ~4k. do i have too many fics on here about dick dealing with + recovering from sexual assault and rape? probably. do i care? no. this fic takes a dive into trauma and how it can affect victims. it was absolutely heartbreaking, but also has the actual best wally + dick friendship i’ve ever read ever. seriously. if “wally west is a Good Bro” could be condensed into one fic, it would be this one.
6. the fit of the cowl by @quillium ~4k. some people could argue dick was the best batman. other could argue the cowl only hurt dick. still others say dick could’ve been a much better batman if was better written. regardless of your opinion, you should definitely read this fic. it delves into the different reactions the batfam have to batman!dick. the family dynamics in this one were super interesting, and it’s always wonderful to read a fic about dick grayson  but from someone else’s eyes
7. Hard Truths and Other Realities by @ckbookish  ~108k. a series about dick feeling lost after being fired from robin and eventually finding his way again. featuring very very much wonderful uncle clark, and bruce isn’t an asshole, he’s just a worried dad that fucks up a lot but tries his best to make amends. also, dick bonding with jason. it basically takes you through that time period from the end of dick’s robin to him solidly affirming himself as nightwing and starting to forgive bruce. a really cool take on canon, loved this series!
8. Job Performance by @i-just-want-to-destroy ~3k. ohhhhhh dear god does this fic give me the feels. set during s1 yj, it shows what being a vigilante since the grand age of 9 does to someone, how much it hurts dick to compartmentalize, how much he doesn’t even realize it. this fic leaves you with a sense of “wow. this child. he’s really fucked up.” in a heartwrenching way.
9. a soft place to land by @bluebeauregard 3k. the best dick + tim being brothers fic i’ve ever read. people like to expand on his gradual acceptance and love of jason, people go batshit crazy over him practically parenting damian. and while i do love those, dick and tim had the best canon sibling relationship in the comics (at least, in pre52). this fic takes that and runs with it, and it’s so goddamn unique. i have literally never read this idea anywhere, so i was blown away by both the fic and the way the author wrote it.
10. touch starved by @iwhumpyou ~4k. we’ve all seen fics where timmy’s touch starved from not receiving much affection from his parents growing up and the rest of the batfam smothers him in hugs. but what i really want is a fic where dick’s the one touchstarved because he grew up in the goddamn circus where everyone was close, but ever since he came to live with bruce, he’s been starved of the affection he used to so freely get, because his entire family is most certainly not the touchy-feely type. and for added angst, he doesn’t do anything about it because he knows his family has issues with trust/intimacy and he wants to make them as comfortable as possible. anyway apparently that fic exists and it’s this one read it and sob with me will you?
11. you gotta tip on the tightrope by Anonymous 12k. for people that don’t actually know much about comics canon and why exactly dick went undercover at spyral, this fic is absolutely wonderful. it shows the lead up of events that led to dick faking his death and leaving, and why exactly he chose to listen to bruce. (i’m using “chose” liberally here). plus, sibling bonding!! specifically with jason!
12. young volcanoes by @dottie-wan-kenobi 3k. i haven’t read this fic in a while, so i don’t remember some of the finer details, but i do remember loving it. also i have it bookmarked on ao3 with the tag “THIS!!!!!!!” so that counts for something. this fic focuses more on dick’s relationship with the titans rather than bruce or the jl, and centers around what their friendship has done for dick/how it’s helped him, and how much he loves them. a wonderful team fic.
anyway, i hope you enjoy these babe!! these fics are all so so incredible, and i just want to give all of these amazingly talented authors one big incredible hug.

2020 Creator Wrap: Favorite Works
I was tagged by the the wonderful @irolltwenties (which goves some way to provie my theory that any conversation which starts with someone yelling “motherfucking Lex Luthor” is always going to be a possitive interaction)
Rules: it’s time to love yourselves! choose your 5 (or so) favorite works you created in the past year (fics, art, edits, etc.) and link them below to reflect on the amazing things you brought to the world in 2020. tag as many writers/artists/etc. as you want (fan or original) so we can spread the love and link each other to awesome works!
According to AO3 I published 122,561 words across 15 fics in 2020, which is wild. The only year I’ve published more words that than was 2012, and this year’s words are definitely of a higher quality! I really thought I’d been unproductive this year!
A lot of my very favourite things I’ve written this year are unposted WIPs, and some of them are sadly likely to stay that way - I publish maybe half of what I write, because I have far more ideas than free time - so shout out to ‘I Would Die For You a Thousand Times’, ‘A Boy With a Crooked Shadow’ and ‘let me take you by the hand (and drag you through the streets of london)’, which most of you will probably never have the chance to read, and the fic which definitely isn’t going to be titled ‘Dick Goes Deep on Daddy Issues’ which hopefully you one day will!
Also picking 5 is surprisingly difficult this year. I’m definitely one of the people who writes exactly the fics I want to read, and I do actually reread my own fics fairly often, which makes narrowing down the list really difficult.
Highschool Never Ends - DC Comics, a grab-bag of YJ and Titans ships mixed with a whole lot of found family bonding
I didn’t start this fic with the intention of using it to just fill the DCU with all the representation it’s missing, but it’s kind of turned into that anyway, and I love that about it. Someone reccing it described it as ‘possitive about all sorts of things’, which is pretty much exactly what I aim for. It’s not often you can write a high-school drama club AU that actually helps people, so that’s pretty awsome. It’s also the fic which made me really fall in love with Duke Thomas, who despite being neither female or from anime is still bestgirl.
A Brief History of Gotham - DC comics, gen
This may be the thing I’m most proud of of everything I’ve written because holy shit the research this required. But it was worth it to create probably the single most niche thing I’ve ever written. Also it turns out that thinking up in-world reference books and quotes is basically the most fun you can have as a writer. “In most cities they laugh at clowns and run from guns; in Gotham it’s the other way around” may just be the best line I’ve ever written.
Halogen - Batman, Tim/Jason
I think of everything I’ve ever written, this is the one that turned out the most like I wanted to. My guiding principle for this story was ‘stark’, and I think I achieved exactly that.
Know Me Better - Narnia, gen
Once again this is very niche, but I love it. And it helped someone going through a crisis of faith, and you can’t ask much more than that as a writer or a theology grad. Discovering the Narnia fandom was definitely a highlight of this year - there’s some fantastically tallented writers creating exactly the kind of beautiful thoughtful works you want from a canon like that one.
Human or Something Like It - DC Comics, gen with background Tim/Jason, Jason/Midnighter & Dick/Midnighter
This is entirely self indulgence - it’s outsider POV, which I love, it’s almost all dialogue, which I much prefer writing to any other type of prose, it’s entirely Tim Drake centric. It is, in fact, exactly the fic I wanted to read, so it was delightful to post it and find other people wanted to read it as well.
Honourable mentions (because this really was hard to narrow down): The Anatomy of a Robin, which was pretty successful (if I do say so myself) attempt to channel other writers, and Together, which turned up in my brain fully formed and was written in about a week, which never happens to me. It turned out to be the prequel to the Tim/Bart/Kon fic I actually wanted to write, but I love it anyway.
I feel like this has been a year where I really settled into my niche. My niche has turned out to be found family, happy porn, and as much queer rep as I can physically jam into the plot, and I’m pretty okay with that.
tagging @celestialbisexual, @kiseiakhun, @kittyaugust, @lex-munro, @teland, @suzukiblu, @phcking-detective  (I’m really bad at remembering what AO3 handle matches what tumblr name, so if you’re a writer and you follow me consider yourself tagged!)

We all know Steph got a lot of mistreatment during her time as Spoiler but actually looking at the reasons why are kind of interesting in universe reason as for why Bruce was always like 'go home Stephanie' is because Steph reminded him of Jason & was hitting some trauma buttons out of universe Steph was a new character type that would later become very popular.
Steph's original story was supposed to be a one off & was made because writers wanted to have a go at a character who was the child of a Batman villain who becomes a hero & fans really liked the idea so they brought Steph back in Tim's Robin series to play off of Tim since she was so popular.
The thing was this was back in the early 90's & though 'child of a villain becomes a hero' is an overdone & popular trope now days back then it was a rare concept so writers were like 'can she really do this'
There's also DC's classism & the harmful mindset of 'can kids from poor income home really be heroes' that was against Steph & is one of the reasons Jason was killed off.
It's really interesting because now days we're like 'oh a child of a villain became a hero seems legit' because we've seen it so many times but back in 1993 the entire concept was just 'whaaaaat!?' to anyone who heard it.
There's some really interesting things here that could be said about tropes and writing trends and how story telling is linked to the era the story is being told there.
This also plays into why writers and characters don't question Steph being a hero now days the same way they used to back in her early Spoiler days.
I just think it's really interesting how back then a lot of Steph's poor treatment in comics was due to the fact that heroes from poor back grounds and villainous upbringings were rare & it was all things used against her both in and out of comics when in todays world they're all very popular tropes just look at Artemis's popularity in the YJ TV show.
Steph was ahead of her time poor girl
I just think it's fascinating how writing and media in general all play into the era they're being produced in I've seen people mention that though Tim seems rather generic by today's standard he really was relatable back in the 90's.
Characters that were well received a few decades ago wouldn't be nearly as popular if they had been introduced in todays world while characters that were often ignored or weren't popular in their introduction would have likely done much better if they were introduced a few decades later.
Sometimes I'll reread popular stories and think 'damn this would have been considered trash if it came out today' & sometimes I'll see new characters & concepts and wonder how they would have done in like the 90's

Anonymous said: Hi! Do you still like Tim Drake?
More than I can describe!
Anonymous said: Please tell me those law school quotes are all from one professor
They are not, but MOST of them are from the civ pro professor. His name is Counseller, and he’s great. He got a standing ovation after his speech at my friend’s graduation yesterday. I once went to dinner at his house and a movie afterwards. He had us all hide his candy in our bags so he didn’t have to pay concession stand prices.
@whambamthanksbatfam said: Do you know canonical nicknames for the Batboys?
Hold up lemme see what I have on file
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Off the top of my head I can also think of times that Tim referred to himself as “Timmy” (usually while pretty young), and of course Dick has “boy wonder”
Anonymous said: What do you think will happen to nightwing comics? Writer changes in April, will they be able to reverse the amnesia arc? Do you think maybe the damage to the character is irreversible? I don't understand why they'd allow it especially after what happened when they tried to kill him off. It's also 35th anniversary of his first appearance in a few months. Looking at teen titans, jon kent's age, young justice "coming back" I feel concerned for dc comics' future ):
I’m basically taking my usual approach, which is (as far as comics are concerned)... everything will return to its most profitable form. Comics have a set form. With a few key exceptions-- changes in superhero persona, for example-- things generally make their way back to the “classic” form. Therefore I expect Dick to go back to being Nightwing, in a form we would recognize as typically Nightwing.
Anonymous said: wait..... waitwaitwaitwait..... wait. did u just swear in that hashtag? i have followed you for like 2 years and the closest i've seen to swearing is "sweet texas on high" which ended up becoming a bad habit of mine to say irl and then have to explain where the hell i heard that, and then i said it enough that one friend started saying it as well, then it just spread like a virus in my friend group (this isn't a complaint this is just surprise and amusement. love ur blog!)
Glad to see my nonsense swears are spreading! To be honest, I (really) swear a lot. Don’t tell my mom
Anonymous said: Hey! I have to choose a quote for my yearbook and i want to do a batman/superhero quote but i cant think of one and was wondering if you could help me out? Im looking to go for kinda funny but also has a bit of meaning, ya know? Anyway thank you!
Oooooh boy lemme see
Tumblr media
I like Alfred’s quote in these panels. I would also maybe suggest:
"Whenever someone's asked what power they wish they had, flying is always at the top of the list. But I have to admit. I've learned to love falling too." (Nightwing #142, 2008)
I don’t know how helpful I can be on this one, honestly, but there’s my two cents.
night-mom said: Hi, I have a bat-centric side blog called Bat-Losers-Inc. I just discovered some of your writing on tumblr and have been slowly going through it when I have the time. I really love how you write each character of the Batfam and how each of them feels very distinct from each other but also different from their common representations in the Batman fandom. So anyway, I was wondering if you had a favorite Bat family member to write from in terms of point of view/personality?
Hmmmm a couple of years ago, I would have said Jason. For whatever reason, I’ve always given him a talking/fighting style that’s the most similar to my own, but lately I find myself drawn to Tim and Damian. My guess? Their points of view allow me to explore some things I’ve been going through-- specifically a nasty bout of depression, anxiety, and a psychotic breakdown. I would also say that Dick is the hardest for me to write, followed by Bruce, Duke, and Cass. Stephanie is pretty easy.
Anonymous said: For some reason, I have this huge need of some angst... Could u please do a prompt of suicide Tim? But he manages to success?? Please???
Listen. I’m definitely not going to do that, and I don’t think I need to explain why.
Anonymous said: I reread some old B&R comics. Bruce came back from his weird time adventures and one of the first things he said to Damian was, that it was his job as Robin to make sure that Batman gets home safe. Like yeah, I guess it is? But also you're talking to your 10 year old son, I'm waiting for that mentality to bite you in the ass at some point. I mean it kind of did when Damian died to save Dick in Batman Inc. Bruce's parenting is really dangerous sometimes o_o
I agree. I’ve always had a problem anytime the Batman/Robin relationship is framed around what Bruce needs. For the benefit of the child? Sure, I’ll suspend belief for that one. Because an adult needs it? No thanks. That’s why Tim’s origin story bothers me a whooooole lot.
@therusticate said: I just read the fanfic you put out around Christmas with the files on Dick and Damien and I MELTED. There were TEARS! I’m hoping to find some more of your work on your blog; I love your writing style and how everything flows. Thank you so much for creating content! You did a fantastic job and I love it.
Oh, thank you so much! I’m particularly fond of that fic
Anonymous said: how's outlining going?
Anonymous said: what is it that you are outlining??
Anonymous said: I hope your outline turns out good and you do well ❤ you can do it!!
@couldnt-pick-a-name said: Have you finished your outlining yet?
Anonymous said: Good luck on your exams!! I hope they go well and you take care of yourself and don't get too stressed
I appreciate you all for keeping me on topic <3
Exams went... probably pretty well? We’ll find out when grades come back. I was outlining for immigration law, federal administrative law, and constitutional law-- and I did get all of them done. Hallelujah.
Anonymous said: Young Justice 2019 just got published and I realized I haven't consumed enough YJ material!! Do you have any comic recommends??
Oooooh I guess that depends on which Young Justice you’re talking about? Original v. based on TV show? Either way, my recommendation is to look up the associated series. Original YJ (Tim, Bart, Cassie, Conner, etc.) is the 2000 version by Peter David. That team just got a reboot, and I’m reasonably sure that’s what you’re asking about. Then there’s the YJ comic based on the tv show (2011, I believe).
Either way, I like pretty much the entire series. Sounds simple, but that’s my rec.
@dontstopkiwibea said: I've been thinking about your fic with Damien and Tim having a conversation about Tim's depression and the time when Bruce was missing. I think about all that missing time a lot and how so much /could/ have happened to Tim but didn't. And then I think about Damien being sad when Tim was dead. And then I think about Dick hearing about Tim's mental state during that time, how bad it really got, and maybe Bruce learns too. Ahhhh I don't know about you but I want more fics about Tim and getting help
Honestly? Same. I feel like there’s a lot of emotion that’s never officially explored, and that’s a problem I personally enjoy fixing.
Anonymous said: You asked for headcanons, so: Damian likes to give Tim a hard time, and one day Damian scoffs at the idea of Tim getting a pet, saying he’d probably kill it through neglect. Tim doesn’t appreciate that and ends up with a goldfish out of spite. He learns everything there is to know, and his fish is gonna thrive, dammit. And it does. Tim comes to genuinely care for this little creature (and secretly Damian is really pleased Tim is showing such interest in something that isn’t casework or WE).
Love it! Give Tim A Fish 2019
Anonymous said: What are you most looking forward to this year?
Hmmmmm... this is maybe a lil over optimistic, but I’m really looking forward to getting better this year. I’m trying harder and I have better resources than I ever had before.
@xylophonicsynapse said: Which of the bat-kids makes music playlists?
I’d say that all of them DO it sometimes, but the one who really gets into it is Damian. He likes his music organized, thank you very much.

Answered from here.
1) How old were you when you first starting writing fanfiction?I think I was 13 or 14 when I started actually writing it; I’d started reading it a few years before that. (I thank The X-Files and LOTR fandoms for it!)4) What is your favourite genre to write for? There’s something about writing angst that comes easily for me; it always has. The darker the subject matter, the easier and more fun it is to write. (That sounds really strange..)6) If you had to delete one of your stories and never speak of it again, which would it be and why?Hmm.. Honestly? It would probably be Mixing Business With Pleasure. While I wrote it for a friend because she dared me to write some smut, I blush whenever I think of it because I’m not good at writing that kind of material. It’s better left in the hands of other more capable writers. That being said? It was fun to write it at the time. ;)7) When is your preferred time to write?I’m at my most productive late at night and, oddly enough, when I’m at work during the day and can’t actually focus on writing. I’ve always been a night-owl and my brain is more awake/alert in the evenings. Perhaps because it’s quiet that time of day, I suppose.
8) Where do you take your inspiration from? This one was tough to answer- I haven’t really thought about it that much until recently!Inspiration has struck me in the most random of situations. While I was riding the bus to work one rainy morning, I was inspired to write about Roy Harper, a motorcycle accident and an addiction to pain killers just because of the way the reflection of the stoplights on wet asphalt glittered. The Jason Todd fic I’m currently writing is the result of waking up at 2am about a year ago and wondering what would happen if he got sick. I spent an hour talking to my phone in the dark and recording everything that came to mind.
Real people and other stuff I’ve read have been inspiring, too. A childhood friend who died of leukemia when she was 10 inspired my OC Nora. A fic about the aftermath of Sam Winchester shooting Dean in the chest with a shotgun full of rock salt rocked my world (no pun intended) about the consequences of unresolved issues. Oh did it ever..I used to carry a notebook with me because the smallest of things can inspire wonderful things: stoplights on wet asphalt, the sound of leaves rustling down the street in October, or the feeling you get when you read a fic that moves you so much that you can’t help but want to affect people the same way.  Long story short? Inspiration is almost anywhere you look when you’re ready to find it!11) Have you ever amended a story due to criticisms you’ve received after posting it?No, I haven’t, and I never plan to. The beauty of fanfiction is that the writer is in control of their story, the characters and the universe. I’m a firm believer in leaving positive feedback for writers and unless they ask for constructive criticism, I keep any of those ideas to myself.12) Who is your favourite character to write for? Why?Oh my god.. do I have to pick a favorite?! I’m going to do a list because otherwise this post will be hundreds of words longer than it already is..1. Jason Todd2. Roy Harper3. Tim Drake4. Dean Winchester5. YJ! Dick Grayson13) Who is your least favourite character to write for? Why?Barbara Gordon but ONLY because I’m not as familiar with writing her and I don’t want to mess it up.21) Tell me about another writer(s) who you admire? What is it about them that you admire?(I linked to their AO3 accounts so you can find their work.)
@lemonadegarden - Stargazer is the kind of piece I only WISH I could write. Equal parts sad, hopeful, beautiful and painful, it’s one that always made me happy when the update notification came through!@audreycritter - She created an OC so wonderful I honestly believe he’s part of DC canon and no one will convince me otherwise. I’ve been lost in her work for literal HOURS at a time. That and she did a crossover between Batman and The X-Files. Genius, I tell you!@zombiesbecrazy - How To Do Right and Learning to Fear made me tear up and I’ve rarely seen such amazing characterization. Just.. WOW.@eliestarr - Her Stephanie Brown/Damian Wayne work is some of my favorite because she’s got such a great handle on their characters. I’ve read her stuff repeatedly and will continue to do so!@unavenged-robin - I recently spent about three and a half hours reading her work because I couldn’t stop and I’m not ashamed to admit it!
22) Do you have a story that you look back on and cringe when you reread it?To my own complete and utter surprise, no, I don’t! I’ve gone back and edited a lot of my work since it was originally posted, so things that I didn’t care for or catch when I posted it the first time around are no longer an issue. However, I have college coursework that makes me shudder when I think about it because it was awful. I had to write a screenplay and I physically burned all three hard copies PLUS the floppy disk it was on (I’m old) because I was that ashamed of it. :)23) Do you prefer listening to music when you’re writing or do you need silence? If I’m stuck on something, I need it quiet to sort things out. It’s the same for when I’m editing. I read my stuff aloud and correct as I go. But if I’m writing and things are going smoothly, I’ll have mellow instrumental music on in the background. I have a couple of Spotify playlists I use depending on what I’m writing.25) Have you ever cried whilst writing a story?I’ve cried while reading fics, but never writing my own. I’ve come close because I’ve been really proud of some of them, though.29) Do you have a story that you feel doesn’t get as much love as you’d like?I wrote a few things in the Supernatural fandom that I’m pretty proud of, but I don’t really write for that anymore. I have lots of ideas but I’m hesitant to put any of them out there.30) In contrast to 29 is there a story which gets lots of love which you kinda eye roll at?Not at all! I’m happy when anything I’ve written is read/reviewed/bookmarked/kudo’d etc.31) Send me a fic recommendation and I’ll post it for my followers to see! (The asker is to send the rec not the answerer)There wasn’t a rec for me to share, but I’m happy to post some of anyone wants to send some in!!38) If you could collab with any other writer on here, who would it be? (Perhaps this question will inspire some collabs!) If you’re shy, don’t tag the blog, just name it.I’ve only ever collaborated with one other writer and that was years ago for some Young Justice challenges over on FF.net. I have ideas about who would be awesome to write with, but I’m keeping them to myself because I’m terrified of looking like a dork!40) Do people know you write fanfiction?Only a few people IRL know I write fanfiction and I prefer to keep it that way. It’s not something I’m comfortable sharing because I don’t feel they understand why I do it. That being said, I absolutely LOVE connecting with readers and other writers because I’ve made some wonderful friends that way. I’ve also grown so much as a writer by reading fanfiction and writing it.41) What’s you favourite minor character you’ve written?I’d have to say Titus, the Batfamily dog. :)
