As horrible as it sounded, the young clone of Superman had spent half his life not getting along with the world and as such, had learned to get along without it. But Tim wasn't like that. Tim needed people to function. It was the one trait Bruce wished his son hadn't inherited from him. Conner Kent could survive getting his heart broken. Tim Drake could not. And Bruce Wayne was not going to lose another son. Or, Bruce doesn't understand what Tim could possibly see in Kon. Until, of course, he does.

What's Real and What Isn't

Kon’s eyes almost glow in the dark, a luminescent blue so vivid Tim almost can’t stand looking at them, though he has a harder time trying to look away from them. “I thought you were having a nightmare or something. Your heart was beating so hard it woke me up.” Tim feels himself a flush. He can’t even sleep without bothering someone else. “Oh,” He replies, voice small. “Sorry. I’m fine, you can go back to sleep.” “You’re shaking,” Kon points out and Tim curses internally.

"Well", Bruce ignored his question, "I don't exactly have a rule against dating metas" "Ok?" Tim had no idea what his dad was trying to lead up to, but he put on his best listening face. As much as Kon had begged Clark not to send him to school, to while about his day doing equations and learning about dead people, when he could be doing something useful (like punching bad guys), Kon had actually come to like school. Well, he didn't so much care for the classes, but it was nice to make friends who were just normal people. It was interesting to hang around people who had no idea that the unassuming Conner Kent was actually the famed hero Superboy. Kon got to take a bit of a break from being a hero and pretend to be normal for a while, which could be fun under the right circumstances.

His friends were pretty neat, as well.

One night as Kon was dosing off to sleep it suddenly feels like he's been suckered punch and left breathless. As he gasps for air he knows something big has just happened to Tim, his very human soulmate, and knows he needs to go and find him no matter what.

Friends Are The Family We Choose

It’s really nice to know that both of their families watch out for one another no matter who it is. Clark would do anything for any member of Bruce’s family and even know he won’t admit it, Bruce would do the exact same for his.

Or, Kon nearly runs himself down to the ground with worry after Tim gets hospitalised and the Batfam are there to make sure he actually takes care of himself.

Just as he's about to be punched, a fucking 10 year old (he's actually 12) steps in and... starts threatening the bullies? And they actually listen?? What the fuck???

They didn’t believe him, blaming it on lack of sleep and the haze being shot brought, but Tim was sure he saw Jason. Older, bigger, with a white streak in his fringe, but still Jason.

Tim goes out to find Jason to bring his big brother back home. Jason... Jason has other matters to ponder on before deciding to come back.

I love this fic!! I went through like three or four different plots before writing it right before posting it (i write everything before posting). And then Cyg came in and beta-ed it so that was fun!

When he first met Timothy the boy was five years old. His first thought was that the boy was a doll, a living breathing porcelain doll. His second was that he was far too small to be five, maybe three if he was being generous. His third was that they had the same eyes.

Bruce continues to read as the tv drones on in the background at a low volume.

"Morning, B." Jason greets as he enters the kitchen and takes the seat. The grin in his voice is audible, and Bruce almost wines. Jason has most definitely seen the news.

"Good morning, Jason," Bruce responds without looking up from his paper. His phone starts ringing, and Bruce glances at the caller id. It's Clark, again.

extant by arseniclatte ; a tim&jason focused fic in which janet comes back from the dead just to die in tim's apartment. also features a fucked up house and i do love my fucked up houses.

wither on the shore by Scarlet_Ribbons ; tim&jason&dick dealing with tim and his father. technically not a lesser known fic but i have to pair this with extant bc both fill a very specific niche of 'jason helps tim deal with his dead parents'. bruce is also there at the end but the focus is very much tim and jason and dick.

Gotta Roll With The Curveballs by Just_A_Poor_Boy ; duke&tim! i love duke so much, he is all times panicking in the most chill way. him and tim getting along is sooo good i love this fic so much.

The Spiciest Ghost by dandelioness666 ; a duke-centric fic!! mostly him trying to figure out dick, and his powers, which tim helps with. this is a birdflash fic but the main focus is very much duke and dick!

Author's Note by Trekkele ; jason&bruce fic in which bruce keeps an eye on the kind comments strangers leave on jason's fics and also notices when one of jason's fics suddenly updates years after his death. ao3 author jason my beloved.

Family Photos by KelpieCodyne ; tim-centric but has all of batfam involved. a look at all the eras of gotham's vigilantes that tim has photographed while stalking them through the night, followed by their attempts to find any photos of tim as robin or red robin. one of my faves fr.

Satisfactory Bonding Activities by raven_of_hydecastle ; tim and damian take over the world. literally what more could you want.

Here's a Reminder (That You Haven't Fallen Through the Cracks) by popsunner ; everyone bothers tim while he's trying to work bc they want him to know they love him. also duke continues to be the best. this is factually true (<- said by the most bias girl in the world).
