#i’m sorry blaine mutuals

I don’t know if I’m getting old or Tarlos has ruined all other couple for me but I watched RWRB and was so underwhelmed. I know this will be a safe space to say that. Don’t get me wrong, glad we are getting LGBTQIA rom coms and happy endings and great to have representation etc but I feel so out the loop because I see everyone gushing and saying it’s the best thing ever and I just don’t feel that way. It was so rushed never really felt anything for the main characters, particularly the Prince. Crucial plot development from the books missed. No time to build up and so they didn’t seem like they were so madly in love and all the drama was resolved too quickly so never really felt worried. The chemistry was ok but not that hot. The acting was meh in parts. That whole Baby scene everyone is obsessing over? Just sounded weird and no emotion from Alex. Tarlos do baby better. Tarlos do everything better there is just no comparison in my eyes. Any one else out there feel the same or am I a lone wolf?
I don't go here tbh but I have quite a few friends and mutuals who do and I can say that there are people who loved the movie adaptation and people I know who really hated it. So you're not alone, book adaptations are so tricky. I'm sorry it was a let down, that SUCKS especially if you were looking forward to it.
But also honestly, if it just didn't spark joy for you, then it didn't spark joy. Tarlos is so wonderful they've probably ruined me for some other things too but just because something is LGBTQ related doesn't mean everyone in the community has to love it. Some people don't like Heartstopper. Some people didn't like Portrait of a Lady on Fire. I couldn't stand Kurt/Blaine in Glee. You aren't obligated to love every single piece of media with the representation you're looking for. If this movie didn't do it for you and if you found their chemistry lacking, it's just not the movie for you. There will be others.

I can't believe how close we are to the end of this story. I'm so excited to share the final chapter with you as soon as possible. The final scene has been giving me problems so it might need more time, but we're almost there!
Chapter snippet below the cut
“I kissed Sebastian,” he blurted out, cutting Blaine off mid-sentence.
Blaine froze, looking at him in confusion. “What?” He said, stunned.
“Last night when we got drunk together. We - we had a bit of a heart-to-heart and I just…I kissed him.” Kurt looked down at his lap, his hands twisting together.
Blaine’s eyes darted around the room like he was having a hard time processing what Kurt had said.
“We’re both so sorry about it. It didn’t…we didn’t mean to. It just happened.”
Blaine’s eyes were distant as he stared past Kurt’s head. “Did…did he kiss you back?”
Kurt nodded, the anxiety in his chest cinching so tight he could barely breathe.
Blaine blinked like he was trying to pull himself back together but couldn’t quite manage it. “Was it…” he cleared his throat, “was it payback? For what I did?”
Kurt’s head shot up. “No!” he cried, “of course not.”
Blaine looked like he didn’t fully believe him.
“We - we were just talking. And he…he told me he loved you, and he just looked so sad. Like he was fully resigned to…well, to losing you to me. And I couldn’t stand to see him like that and it just…drunk me decided kissing him was the best way I could comfort him in the moment. And it was stupid and we immediately regretted it and I am so sorry.”
Blaine looked more present even as his brain was still trying to process what was happening.
“I need…I think I need to go…somewhere.” He stood up slowly and gathered his things.
“Blaine,” Kurt tried, but Blaine just held up a hand to stop him.
“I’m not - I’m just confused, okay? I need to clear my head.”

Can you and any of your long time mutuals explain what Kevin and Jenna’s issue is with Blaine/Darren/klaine. Is it about screen time? Money? Attention since end of glee? It’s not because they love Naya and Cory - there is some grievance about Klaine.
Do you think Chris is maybe not keen that Klaine is talked about so much?? Or that they think we’re all “nutters?”
🤷‍♀️
Did something else happen? I haven’t listened since the Adam Anders episode.
I have no real answers for you guys.
I doubt Chris pays much attention to the podcast.
I have no idea what their relationship is with Darren.
I’m sorry I’m of no help - anyone else wanna try?

--
Kurt calls Blaine during his break from music. Blaine’s already powered on his Switch.
“I have done some research!” Kurt says as a greeting. He isn’t beating around the bush. It’s time to immediately continue the earlier conversation. “The Guy is unfortunately still a mystery to most.”
“Did you get a name at least?” Blaine asks, “Also there is Tower Control at Ranked Battle. We can do Ranked for once to hopefully get to that new X rank.”
“Inkblot Art Academy and Wahoo World,” Kurt sounds a bit distracted. He’s reading the stages from his screen. “Sounds like a plan. And no, I didn’t get a name. My company is very big and broken up in different, uh, departments of sorts. We’re not in the same department, but my colleague has a friend in The Guy’s department.”
“And… is this a good thing?” Blaine asks.
“I don’t know!” Kurt sounds genuinely unnerved, and even though Blaine desperately wants to move on from this topic to focus on Splatoon 2, he knows that Kurt’s really nervous when it comes to this guy.
Blaine doesn’t know much about The Guy, and that’s mainly because Kurt doesn’t know much about The Guy. All that Blaine knows is that Kurt is interested in getting to know this man and that he’s very nervous about the situation.
“Look at me, I used to be confident!” Kurt groans out, “And now I’m… this. If Kurt from high school could see me now…”
Kurt’s silent after that. Blaine pauses his game. Maybe they won’t play this time, and that’s fine, because Kurt clearly has something on his mind. There’s a tone in his voice that shows that Kurt’s more upset about this than originally anticipated.
Which means they’re in hot waters now.
“If it makes you feel better,” Blaine starts carefully, “I never knew Kurt from high school. I only know this version of you, and I’m happy to know you.”
“Thanks, Blaine,” Kurt says after a small beat of silence, “That’s nice to hear. I sometimes just wish I could go back in time and, I don’t know, prevent my dad from dying. But I can’t.”
Blaine puts his controller aside. He has the feeling they won’t play today. They were about to train for the upcoming Soccer vs. Baseball Splatfest, since they’re both going for team Baseball, but that sounds trivial now.
The death of Kurt’s dad is always a sore topic. Blaine knows about it, but Kurt still doesn’t like to talk about it. But he said that it’s easier to talk to Blaine about it, since Blaine never knew him. Back when Kurt and Blaine first met on the LGBT Splatoon 2 Discord, they were two anonymous strangers who occasionally played a match together, but somewhere it became easier to plan their matches in the DMs and things progressed from there.
A few weeks into them being mutuals, Kurt just disappeared for a week. Blaine got worried and asked if something was wrong. That’s when Kurt told Blaine that his dad had died a year prior and that he spent the week visiting his stepmother and closing himself off from the world.
That admission started their actual friendship. From that moment on they were no longer mutual who occasionally chatted about Splatoon 2.
“Kurt, are you still here?” Blaine asks.
Kurt hasn’t said anything and he also hasn’t scolded Blaine for not starting Tower Control, so he’s probably not playing either.
“Sorry,” Kurt lets out a shaky laugh. Blaine’s pretty sure he’s crying. At moments like this Blaine wishes they knew each other offline. He wants to comfort Kurt. He wants to hold him and be close to him. He wants Kurt to know that he’s always there for him. He wants-
Woah.
Blaine shakes his head.
He still doesn’t know how to bring up the face reveal. Location reveal will be for another day.
“Nothing to be sorry for,” Blaine automatically says.
“It’s just… it hits me at sudden moments, you know?” Kurt asks.
Blaine lets out a hum in agreement. His parents are both very much alive, with his mother living in Cebu and his dad still living in Westerville. He doesn’t know what it’s like to lose someone. The only frame of reference is when his grandmother died when he was ten. He was devastated, but it was also years ago and there aren’t that many memories of him and his grandmother.
Still, Blaine tries.
“That is completely understandable! You lost someone important. The littlest things can, you know, evoke something.”
“Well, I didn’t expect it to be The Guy!” Kurt bites out.
Blaine’s taken aback by this sudden snideness and Kurt’s already apologising before Blaine can react.
“Fuck, sorry, sorry, I shouldn’t take it out on you. You’re a good friend.”
“It’s okay.”
“I just hate this!” Kurt exclaims, “It’s been almost two years since his death and I’m still… still not where I want to be.”
Blaine knows enough to be careful now. It’s grief. It’s pain on an unbearable level. When Kurt’s overwhelmed by it, it’s as if he’s stuck in his own sadness. Everything sets him off.
“But you’re getting better!” Blaine quickly points out to comfort him. He might not be able to hug Kurt, but he still has his words. “Look, we’ve only known each other for a couple of months, but I’ve seen you thrive so much in those past months. You’re working again, you’re dressing up again, you’re slowly going back to school… that’s way different for the Kurt who couldn’t leave his house!”
Blaine hears Kurt sniff.
“Yeah… that’s true.”
“And you went through something incredibly devastating. You fell into a big rut afterwards. It takes a while to get out of there. So one day you will probably have the confidence to talk to The Guy. Who knows? It’s better to try than to wonder what could’ve happened.”
“Maybe,” Kurt still sounds a bit hesitant, “I feel like I spent too long shied away from the world. My friends have moved on. You’re the best friend I currently have.”
“At least you’re slowly reconnecting with your friends, right?” Blaine says, remembering that Kurt did mention something like that.
“True. It’s just… they all knew my dad too, you know?”
“Yeah.”
“And they still want to talk about him all the time. They want me to know how sorry they are. They tell me that he was a good man,” Kurt says, and he sounds a bit frustrated now, “I know that! See, this is also why it’s just easier to talk to you. You didn’t know my dad!”
He really did sound like an amazing man, but Blaine keeps that to himself. That’s not what Kurt needs to hear.
“God, I know I promised my stepmother to live again, but if my dad could see me now… I’ve become so introverted that I don’t even know how to talk to this hot guy. That’s why online friendship like this is so great. Less pressure, you know?”
“Right,” Blaine says and he feels a small pit in his stomach. How can he ever ask Kurt for a face reveal or a meeting when it’s so clear that their semi-anonymity is the thing Kurt likes the most.
Blaine doesn’t know what else to say, so he waits for Kurt.
“Tower Control?” Kurt asks after a beat of silence. He still sounds upset.
“You sure?”
Kurt hums.
“Blaine, I started playing games as a way to escape,” Kurt reminds him, “Trust me. I’m…” he lets out a long sigh. “I just- I don’t want to dwell on this anymore. Please.”
It’s a short term solution, but Blaine gets it. He starts the match. They lose four times in a row.
--
“Hey dad.”
“Hey Blaine, I didn’t expect you to call.”
“Just… wanted to say hi,” Blaine says as he twirls around on his chair. The conversation about Kurt’s dad made him melancholy.
“Is everything alright, Blaine? You sound a bit sad. Is it the job thing? No worries, you’ll find-”
“No, no, just wanted to talk to you,” Blaine cuts him off.
“But you’re looking into jobs, right?”
“Of course! I have The Street for now and-”
“For now. You’ll have to apply to more positions, Blaine. Give the power to you! The more places you apply to, the better the chances, and if you have multiple positions saying yes, you have the choice.”
“I know, dad,” Blaine lets out an annoyed huff.
It’s silent for a while. Blaine is the one who wanted to speak to his dad, because he is happy that he still has a dad to talk to, but now he wonders if he should’ve waited till he was in a better headspace.
“Sorry, I just worry,” his dad eventually says, “I know you’re trying your best and that finding a job in music is killing.”
“Right. Can we talk about LA instead?” Blaine says, “Cooper told me he’s thinking about inviting you too. It sounds fun.”
“It does,” his dad sounds genuinely excited, “Let me clear my schedule.”
“Great!”
Blaine means it. His dad might drive him mad, but he means well. Blaine can’t wait to see him.
--
The Street has given Blaine a schedule for the week. He gets up, practises, plays Splatoon 2 with Kurt, and then leaves for his job. At The Street, he ignores Mr. 21, networks and plays a lot of music. It’s not a dream job, but he’s content.
Before Blaine knows it, the week is over. Luckily there are two shows on Sunday. Around noon, Blaine leaves his apartment to go to work, but the moment he’s out of the door, he’s greeted by the sight of Mr. 21, who is also leaving.
Blaine realises they’re probably heading to the same destination, namely the Brooks Atkinson theatre.
Blaine’s already in a sour mood. His gig at The Street is ending on the same day that he got a rejection from that the other job that he applied to. The last thing he needs is Mr. 21 bothering him, so Blaine passes Mr. 21 without acknowledging him. He’s still decent enough to hold the elevator, but he’s really not in the mood for fake pleasantries, especially since Blaine’s always the one doing them.
It’s incredibly awkward in the elevator. And on their way to the subway station. And on the actual subway. Usually, Mr. 21 is already at the theatre when Blaine arrives, so they never have a reason to travel together.
They arrive at the theatre and it’s once again awkward when they are determining who can enter first. Mr. 21 lets out an annoyed huff.
“No worries, it’s my last day. Then you’ll be free from my presence,” Blaine snaps and Mr. 21’s eyes widen. For a second, Blaine thinks Mr. 21 is going to apologise, but as usual, Mr. 21 looks down and walks away without a word. At least this time it seems to be out of embarrassment instead of annoyance.
Blaine plays the piano for the matinee. During shows, he prepares to switch to violin. He has a couple of hours of free time between shows and he checks his phone. Kurt’s sent him several DMs.
someonetocrowdyouwithlove ALERT! ALERT! I MESSED IT Up!! With The Guy, I mean I was unnecessarily rude, as always, but that’s just my nerves ah man and he’s leaving the company after today!
Blaine’s thumbs hover over his screen. He wants to tell Kurt to go for it, that today’s his last chance, but his chest feels heavy at the thought of that. Which is ridiculous. Kurt’s his friend and he clearly wants to talk to The Guy, so why shouldn’t Blaine encourage that?
Blaine’s still thinking about an appropriate response when someone calls his name.
“Hey!” one of the brass players gives Blaine a firm but friendly pat on the back, “The music coordinator wants to talk to you.”
Blaine has no idea what the music coordinator might want, so he pockets his phone and he hurries to her office.
“Blaine Anderson?” she asks when she hears Blaine’s knock.
“Yeah, you wanted to see me, ma’am?” Blaine pokes his head inside of the office.
“I need to discuss something with you,” she says seriously, but not unkindly, “Please, have a seat.”
Blaine does as he’s told. He’s still confused. He knows that he has to check in after his last show, but that’s hours away.
“I’m going straight to the point,” the music coordinator looks at Blaine with a piercing gaze, “You’ve been subbing this week for Edward Cadillacs.”
“Yes.”
“Earlier this morning we got the unfortunate news that Edward has to take a leave of absence due to a personal issue,” she says with a heavy sigh, “I know this is very last minute so I don’t know if you have anything else lined up, but are you able to substitute for at least two more months? May and June?”
Blaine blinks a couple of times. He processes what he’s just heard. The music coordinator mistakes his silence for doubt, so she immediately starts talking about how Blaine has shown a lot of talent as a multi-instrumentalist covering different sections and how she’s sorry that she cannot offer him a more stable job instead of substituting, but Blaine’s silent because he can’t believe it.
“Yes, of course!” Blaine interrupts the music coordinator, “I mean, I am available.” Then he remembers the World Championship. “Except for June 9th till June 13th. I will be visiting family.”
Crap. Maybe Blaine should’ve lied about another job opportunity. But the music coordinator nods.
“Alright, please come to my office after the second show, so we can handle the administration.”
Then she stands up and holds out her hand. Blaine shakes it.
“Thank you!”
They say their goodbyes and Blaine walks back to the orchestra pit to grab his stuff. He’s heading out into town for late lunch or early dinner before the next show. He also needs to text Wes as soon as possible.
He’s ecstatic. Maybe it’s a good thing that the other job application didn’t work out, because Blaine realises that he likes playing for The Street. Nothing can ruin his good mood, not even the sight of Mr. 21 and some of the wardrobe crew.
Blaine does stop when he sees that Mr. 21 and his colleagues are holding Nintendo Switches. He didn’t expect Mr. 21 to play video games. Then again, he didn’t expect Mr. 21 to be capable of having fun. This is actually a great idea for two-show days. Blaine should take his console with him to work as well.
Mr. 21 looks up from his Switch and his face falls.
Right, of course, Nintendo Switch or not, Mr. 21 still hates the sight of Blaine.
“Sorry to disappoint you, but I’ll be here for two more months,” Blaine says shortly.
Mr. 21’s mouth falls open and Blaine almost laughs. Is Mr. 21 really that shocked and upset about the news? It feels weirdly satisfying. Blaine walks away with a grin on his face.

Season 3, Sam being a brother to Kurt:
Sam takes his duties as older brother very seriously
(Kurt: "What? You're the youngest of the three of us! I'm the oldest!")
And so he is there alongside Finn to intimidate Kurt's new boyfriend who is coming over for dinner for the first time today.
Now... Kurt absolutely did not tell them WHO his boyfriend is, and he was sincerely hoping that Sam and Finn would NOT be there for this...
When there's a knock on the door, Kurt has to FIGHT them both back from answering it. (Kurt: "No, Samuel, I can greet my own guest, thank you very much.")
Sebastian: "Hey babe." *Leans in immediately for a kiss, is rewarded by Kurt wrapping his arms around him and taking him in for a proper kiss."
Kurt, murmuring: "I know I warned you before about my dad... Turns out I should have been warning you about my two overprotective brothers..."
Sebastian: "Wha--"
Sam: "No fucking way."
Sebastian: "Oh no."
--
It turns out, Finn is actually the one asking all the "How do we know he's not secretly trying to get our competition secrets" and "What about what he did to your ex?" Questions.
Sam, meanwhile, is going WAY deeper.
Sam: "So, where did you take Kurt on your first date?"
Sebastian: "Um... I asked him to help me pick out an outfit for a wedding and we landed up at the North Lima mall for three hours."
Sam: "A mall trip counts as a date?"
Sebastian: "We had fun... And then we went for coffee at the Lima Bean."
Sam: "How romantic (!) Did you at least kiss?"
Kurt: "Sam! This is a lot of very invasive questioning."
Sam: "I just want to know he's good enough for you."
Sebastian, smirking: "We got one of the couches and sat very close together. So yes, we kissed. Multiple times."
Sam: "Isn't it a bit dangerous for two guys to be kissing that publicly on this side of Lima?"
Sebastian: "I know the owners of the Lima Bean. If anyone gives us any hassle, I know that they'd deal with it..."
Sam: "Must be nice to have connections."
Sebastian: "Oh, it is. But this isn't about connections. Last year, they threw out some jackass who made gagging sounds at these two guys from North Lima High. It's not just because I have connections."
Sam: "... How do you feel about songs about sex toys?"
Sebastian: "Oh I know the answer to this one!" *Feigns reading a cue card* "Not appropriate for The Gap."
Sam: "... Okay, he passes."
Kurt: "Wait, really?"
Finn: "Yeah, really?!"
Sam: "He seems to care about your safety... He actually puts thought into where it might be safe to go... Blaine sang a song about sex toys and outed a guy at work..."
i’m obsessed with sam making sure that sebastian is treating kurt right omg
i’m imagining burt and carole sitting back and having a smile on their faces, it warms their heart to see sam and finn care so much about kurt 🥺

We’re told Klaine worked on their problems in season 6 (ie. them telling us they went to therapy) but we didn’t SEE any true progress within their relationship because they spent majority of the season dating other people before jumping in the Brittana wedding and getting married just after they got back together,,, without any type of genuine conversation for them to realize where the relationship went wrong last time.
Then we get a lovey dovey flash forward, but it does nothing to make me genuinely believe their relationship has progressed because for all I know, they could be doing the same shit they did in seasons 4 and 5; pushing all their problems down and acting like they’re all great together until one reaches a breaking point, causing a huge fight (and later leading to divorce) so yeah. Idek if that makes sense but the whole argument Klaine stans have about their nonexistent “growth” is such bullshit.
Anon, I love you 😭 I completely agree. People always argue about them getting better, about how they both got therapy and all. But neither of them changed anything.
Kurt’s therapist literally just said get back with the guy you were unhappy with. You can argue Kurt did need to be more emotionally vulnerable which is true. But he was blocked off for a reason, and pushing him back with someone who made it so much worse will definitely not help that.
Blaine, who is a “loyal people pleasure” and who learns from his mistakes, proceeds to cheat again. But since it’s with a character a lot of people dislike, and he cheated on him with Kurt. It’s fine, it’s for true love, and definitely not a repeating pattern 😫
Instead of taking time to even attempted to rebuild their relationship, they just proceeded to get married. There was never a scene of Kurt calling blaine out for his toxic behavior, there was never a scene of them actually talking out their problems. We are just told they did.
A month after the finale I bet Kurt walked into their house, to find Blaine crying over their piano, while singing an acoustic version of Careless Whisper. 😭
I’m sorry this post got more anti than I thought it would be suhdhdhd. I just think they should’ve definitely worked on their problems separately and saw other people, because clearly they weren’t making each other happy.
And as a blaine anti, I can confidently say they both don’t deserve that.

Okay, here goes for the prompts: number 4 on friends to lovers!
I hope you're doing well :)
thank you so much! sorry it took a little while also i’m feeling a little rusty but here’s a little something-something.
4. “you deserve better. it doesn’t have to be me, but you deserve better.”
Blaine went through a superhero phase when they were seven years old.
Kurt went along with it because he liked the capes and he thought it was cute when Blaine lifted his fist into the air and pretended to fly. The only part of it that was tedious was The Question, every day:
“What would your superpower be?”
The first time he asked it, Kurt answered honestly: “I want to be like Matilda. Move things with my mind and stuff.”
Blaine nodded and then picked super speed for himself. He ran around his backyard in loops until even Kurt felt dizzy, and they decided to just be superheroes who lay on the grass for the rest of the evening.
But then he asked it the next day, and the next, and the one after that. Over and over for almost a year. He wasn’t allowed to say the same one twice. Kurt ran out of superpowers to want.
When he finally moved on to his next obsession, Kurt was relieved, but right now he’d give anything for Blaine to ask him that question.
He’s not sure why Blaine would, though, considering it’s been over twenty years since the last time he did and they’re both wearing suits, not capes. But he’s got a new answer.
Time travel.
In fact, he’d do just about anything to flick a switch or drive a car past 88 or hop into a telephone box and end up thirty seconds earlier, before he said The Words.
The words. The ones that weren’t meant to come out. The one’s he’d vowed to keep stuck inside of his throat, even if it made it hard to breathe sometimes.
“You deserve better. It doesn’t have to be me, but you deserve better.”
Most of the sentence was fine and allowed. Most of it.
“What- what did you say?”
Shit. “I said you deserve better.”
God, he can see a million different things on Blaine’s face right now. He’s read those lines so many times; deciphered them, understood them, figured them out. He can still see all of the lingering pain about Tom not showing up, and the anger at himself for letting that be okay, and the tiredness of fighting for a relationship that neither person really wants. He can see the comfort that Kurt’s giving him, his best friend, in this tiny little restaurant cloak room, and the confusion, too.
“Look, I know you don’t like Tom-”
“It’s your thirtieth birthday. He should be here,” and it comes out like grit in Kurt’s teeth.
Blaine doesn’t say anything. If he did, he’d have to admit that this is actually pretty low on the list of Tom let-downs. There’s been worse - this one just looks bad.
“We should get back out there,” Kurt says, just to say something. The air is starting to feel too stuffy in here. He starts to leave, aware that Blaine’s parents and their mutual friends and a couple of Blaine’s coworkers are sitting at their table, probably wondering where on earth they’d disappeared to.
"Kurt?”
He stops halfway through the door, bracing himself - there’s no way Blaine would let Kurt just breeze over a slip-up like that. It’s not the first slip-up, either. There have been others in the past, from both of them. And it always goes the same way; the one who slipped up deflects and ignores, and the one who heard the slip-up pushes a little bit, desperate to see if the other will be brave this time.
Neither of them are ever brave.
“Yeah?” he says, resigned to the inevitable.
There’s plead in Blaine’s eyes – so much so that it makes Kurt kind of want to be brave this time, even though Blaine hasn’t questioned him yet. He’s gotten stuck, just sort of halted and trying to find the words.
And then the soft sound of a Billy Joel song starts to play from Blaine’s pocket – his ringtone.
Blaine holds his gaze for a second and then checks his phone, sighing, with a little puff of exasperation once he registers who’s calling. “It’s Tom.”
Kurt nods, drained of any bravery, and heads back to the table.
- - - - -
Kurt drops Blaine home after the dinner because even after the phone call, Tom still didn’t turn up.
It’s a quiet ride. Blaine had managed to do what Blaine does best which is to put on a cheerful face and convince a room full of loved ones that he’s fine, but he doesn’t have to do that in this car. Not in Kurt’s presence.
There’s a free spot right by Blaine’s apartment building so he pulls into it and turns the car off. It’s even more quiet now; the hum of the engine had been giving them some kind of music and it’s confronting now that it’s gone. He waits. Blaine seems settled in his seat. He’s staring at the sidewalk, curved in on himself but grounded, grounded to the space next to Kurt.
“Are you okay?”
Blaine’s shoulders lift, “I’ve had better birthdays.”
Kurt thinks that’s all he’s going to say but then he keeps going, his tone lightening a little bit.
“Do you remember that time you paid for all of the Warblers to fly into the city to surprise me?”
Kurt laughs, melodic and sweet at the memory, “I overshot my budget a lot that year.”
“I couldn’t understand why you wanted to go to the top of the Empire State so badly on my birthday,” Blaine laughs too.
“God, it was so stressful. Rachel was helping me co-ordinate it all but there was no service in the subway, and I had no idea if they were all in position and ready, and you were being... difficult, to say the least.”
“I wanted to go to Benny’s.”
That makes Kurt smile. It had been for Blaine’s twenty-first birthday. It was a big deal. And all Blaine wanted to do was get a milkshake from their favourite diner. Maybe share a plate of fries. Nothing big or fancy – just dinner in a place they discovered together. “If I remember correctly, I took you to Benny’s afterwards.”
“You did,” Blaine confirms. And then, with an odd mixture of wist and sadness, “I can’t believe you did all of that for me.”
“Is this your way of telling me you hate the watch?” and it’s an attempt to lighten the mood back up. He reaches for Blaine’s wrist and picks it up, admiring the new silver and ignoring the way it makes him feel to have Blaine’s skin under his palm.
“I love the watch.”
They catch each other’s eyes and oh, here it is. He almost got away with it.
“What did you mean tonight?”
Kurt drops his wrist.
“When you said it didn’t have to be you, but I deserved better?”
He looks straight ahead, the heat from Blaine’s stare burning into his cheek. He doesn’t know how to tell this lie again.
“Kurt?”
“Do you want me to be brave?” he asks, almost wanting permission to be.
Blaine nods, resolute. “I want you to be honest.”
Okay. There’s the permission. And he keeps it simple. “It doesn’t have to be me, but I want it to be.”
Blaine nods again, barely surprised. “Why didn’t you tell me this when we were seven?”
“Seven-year-olds aren’t in love yet.”
“We were.”
And maybe they were, or maybe they fell into it somewhere along the way, but one thing is for sure.
They definitely are now.
Blaine looks like he wants to kiss Kurt but doesn’t, mumbles a little incoherently about needing to sort some things out first which they both know means breaking up with his useless boyfriend, and then he squeezes Kurt’s hand.
Just as Blaine’s reaching for the door handle, Kurt can’t help but ask him something.
“Blaine?”
“Yeah?”
“What would your superpower be?”
Blaine looks a little confused, and then the context of his old obsession sinks in and his eyes crinkle as he laughs. And once his laughter settles, he thinks about it. “Time travel.”
He means: I wish I could go back to that day in Eighth Grade when we came out to each other and explain that you were the reason I knew, or, I wish I could go back to that party we went to when we were 17 and instead of getting horrendously drunk, kiss you instead, or, I wish I could go back to that night at your first apartment in New York when we argued and hold your hand instead. And Kurt knows that’s what he means.
“What about you?”
Kurt sets him with a look that is love, and adoration, and hope, and says, “I’m gonna go back to my original answer.”
“The Matilda thing?”
And he remembers. Of course he remembers.
“Yeah. The Matilda thing.”

Woman to Woman
A short Ayna x MC x f!Blaine fic with jealousy n stuff. I’ve never written for Blaine or Ayna so I’m sorry if this is absolute shit. No warnings needed.
Tags: @samanthadalton (lmk if you’d like to be added for all or certain pairings)
Kennedy made her way to her seat in World History, Dionne waiting with a smile and two iced coffees, one half empty. Kennedy placed her bag down beside her, gracefully sliding into the chair as Dionne held the drink out to her.
“I had Murphy run to a local cafe for these, I hope you like it. I know I do.” Kennedy took the drink and held it to her lips, it gave off a sweet and intoxicating vanilla scent, and it tasted divine. Kennedy scanned the classroom, Evelyn and Peter rambling about which country had the richest history, Alexei and Henri were both on their phones comparing their backflips and Tatum was standing in the doorway with his hand on his earpiece as he shot Kennedy a reassuring nod before walking away to “check the perimeter.”
“Hey...look who’s here…” Dionne chuckled with her sweet laugh as Blaine strolled into the lecture hall, her hair falling over her shoulders, her golden hoops shining, her bracelets jingling just loud enough to make her presence known and her eyes staring right at Kennedy. Kennedy couldn’t help the red blush that crept up her cheeks, there was something between them that she couldn’t put a pin on...or she was in denial about it. Blaine took her seat across the hall, taking out her phone and scrolling away until Professor Masako began speaking. Kennedy’s eyes drifted to whatever Masako was writing on the board but her eyes always turned to gaze at Blaine, she was so intoxicating. A gentle tap on the shoulder pulled her out of her daydream state, Kennedy turned to see Ayna standing next to her chair with her arms crossed as she leaned down to whisper to Kennedy.
“Focus on class, I’m sure you can eyeball Blaine later.” Ayna spoke with a different tone, it came out so sharp and bitter. Kennedy felt her body grow cold, she never expected Ayna to speak with such...harshness? Jealousy? Was Ayna jealous that Kennedy was staring at Blaine. She turned expecting Ayna to still be beside her but she had disappeared, Kennedy focused on the board and Professor Masako’s endless rambling. It felt like class dragged on and on forever...
“Look.” Dionne whispered as Kennedy jolted up from taking notes and caught Blaine’s deep eyes gazing at her, Blane’s face carrying a subtle smirk that sent electricity up Kennedy’s whole body.
“Ahem.” Ayna coughed from across the room where she sat at a desk with a stack of papers to grade in front of her, and her eyes switching between Blaine and Kennedy. Kennedy turned to meet Ayna’s eyes, there was something there too that she couldn’t define, but she could sense that Ayna felt it too. Dionne gently tapped Kennedy’s shoulder, bringing her to focus on Blaine who was angrily gazing at Ayna...and Ayna was glaring right back at Blaine.
“Oh this is too good Kennedy…” Dionne whispered with a small laugh as she nudged Kennedy’s side with her pen. “You’ve got Ayna and Blaine at each other’s throat over you, and it’s so obvious.”
“Wait no that’s…”
“You can see it...you can feel it too Kennedy. The way Ayna stormed up to you when you were staring at Blaine was so obvious anyone could have picked up on it…” Dionne smirked at her, wiggling her eyebrows in amusement as Kennedy turned to focus on Professor Masako.
“I...we should focus…” Kennedy whispered, her whole body tingling and her heart racing. She refused to believe it, how could her enemy and her TA both have feelings for her. The whole situation was complicated and Kennedy couldn’t process it, especially during lecture. Dionne hummed softly before turning back to her notes, Kennedy making her best effort to focus until the class ended...occasionally catching both Blaine and Ayna staring at her.
“Blaine, could you stay after class for a moment, I need to speak with you.” Ayna spoke firmly, her usual enthusiastic tone gone. Blaine shifted in her seat, her arms crossed as she almost rolled her eyes before standing and moving to speak with Ayna.  Kennedy slowly packed her bags and followed Dionne almost out of the lecture hall before stopping around a corner.
“Kennedy what are you doing?” Dionne asked as Murphy and Tatum appeared at their sides. “Ohhh...I see...have fun with that! I’ll see you at home.” Dionne waved as she walked towards their dorm, Tatum raising an unamused brow at Kennedy who leaned around the corner to hear Blaine’s conversation with Ayna.
“What were you doing during class today Blaine? Was it...productive…?”
“Notes...listening to Masako’s endless speech on history…what were you doing today? I saw your face when Kennedy was looking at me, you’re jealous...” Blaine crossed her arms obviously irritated with Anya, who clenched her jaw at Blaine’s words. The room was filled with tension and Kennedy could sense it, but she began to worry about it. Ayna could easily have Blaine expelled and Blaine could easily have Ayna fired, it was in the hands of mutual destruction.
“I was doing my job. I am not jealous, neither of you should be distracted during lecture...” Ayna crossed her arms and took a daring step closer to Blaine. “It’s unprofessional for students to fraternize during class.”
“Oh yeah? And a TA hitting on a student is better right?” Blaine tilted her head just slightly as Ayna covered her mouth as a blush crept up her cheeks. “Just admit you’re jealous and I won’t report this to the dean.”
“No! I would never! I just care about her and her success-” Ayna furrowed her brows at Blaine who stood unfazed, and quite amused. “Just get out, go...this never happened.” Ayna’s voice shook, probably out of fear as Blaine sighed, giving Ayna a soft smile.
“I don’t blame you Ayna, Kennedy is hot. Your secret is safe with me, I’d rather beat you to her. Besides...I could get you fired and you could get me expelled or ruin my name with tabloids...let’s just do this woman to woman...and may the best woman win.” Blaine flashed her dashing smile as she turned back to Ayna who looked a combination of frustrated, jealous and mostly terrified. Once Blaine was out of the building, Ayna pinched her nose with a frown, smoothing her skirt out and adjusting her glasses before taking a few deep breaths to calm herself before gathering her papers up and heading back to her office.
Kennedy began walking away from the building, Tatum following behind as she tried to process what she had just witnessed. There was so much to think about...Blaine’s intense gaze, Ayna’s intense gaze, Blaine and Ayna angrily glaring at each other and whatever the fuck that whole converstion was. The more Kennedy thought about the situation the crazier it sounded...the daughter of her biggest political rival and her teacher's assistant were both...fighting over her.
“Tatum. What do I do? I know you heard that conversation.” Kennedy paused at the door of her suite, Tatum wearing his usual stoic expression.
“Neither of them.” Tatum spoke firmly, the muscles in his face full of tension as Kennedy stood with an emotionless expression. “Blaine would be the worst out of the two but I would stay clear of both of them.”
“Mmm, I’ll figure it out I guess.” Kennedy gave Tatum a curt nod before going inside and heading straight to her room. Now she had to deal with Blaine, Ayna both jealous over her and all exceptionally cliche lovers. Blaine, a political rival...and Ayna a TA. It was so ironic, It was all too much to think about, she dropped her bag on the floor and she collapsed on the bed. She let herself off to sleep and forgot about all of the problems and the jealousy that could wait for another day.
“Hey Kennedy...there’s....people here to see you…” Dionne’s voice brought Kennedy out of her slumber, she slowly moved off of her bed and to the door where Blaine and Ayna stood far from each other, both of their arms crossed. Dionne stood awkwardly at the door before silently moving back and letting both women inside before exiting the building herself. Blaine and Ayna moved to stand distant from each other, their gazes both softening as they looked at Kennedy. Blaine and Ayna spoke at the same time, Ayna huffing in frustration and Blaine rolling her eyes, before both of their heads turned to glare at the other before turning back to Kennedy.
“We all need to talk. Right now.”

Fic: Cool For the Summer (1/31)
Oh, now Tumblr wants to work.
This is for the Tan Hands and Tan Lines challenge, because why would I post something outside of challenges? A look at the boys' summers from 2011 to 2041, using the tamer words (I might try Snarky's list later when I'm off work mid-month). Title from the Demi Lovato song/album, so obviously I'll have to write Dani in at some point.
Day 1: 2011 - Benevolent | Day 2 | AO3
Between the multiple performances Blaine is doing at Kings Island and Kurt picking up extra hours at the garage (Finn has, unsurprisingly, not picked everything up as quickly as Burt hoped for), they don’t get too much time together. It’s almost like the previous two months, following Kurt’s return to McKinley.
Near the end of June they finally have a mutual day off and plan a day trip to the Columbus Zoo. As Kurt pulls the Navigator into the Andersons’ driveway, he sees Blaine walk out the front door with his duffel bag--the very one he takes with him to work.
“Hey,” Kurt calls out as he hops out of his car. “Did you forget what day it is?”
Blaine looks at him apologetically. “Sorry. I just got called like ten minutes ago. Jason twisted his ankle last night and is out for the weekend, so I said I’d work for him today.”
“We had plans today,” Kurt sighs, “and Dad has me working all weekend.”
“I know, and I am so sorry. We can find another day to get together though.”
Kurt watches Blaine toss the bag into the backseat of his car. “Hopefully soon.”
Blaine shuts the back door and turns around, taking Kurt’s hands in his. “I hope so too. I thought our first summer together would be more than this. You know...picnics at Allen Park, evenings at the drive-in, exploring each other’s bodies…” he trails off with a grin.
“You are incorrigible,” Kurt teases.
“I’m a teenage boy getting to know his first love.”
“And yet you’re also benevolent enough to help your unfortunate coworker.” Kurt leans in for a kiss, meeting Blaine’s lips for far too short of a time. “Maybe I can get Mercedes to go with me instead.”
Blaine nods. “She’d enjoy it.”
He turns around to get back in his car. “Call me when you get to the park?”
“Of course. Love you.”
The words still send shivers down Kurt’s spine. “Love you, too.”

Author Spotlights: Kurtdeservesbetter Day 3
Tumblr media
Author: @kurtdeservesbetter
How many times do you usually revise your fic/chapter before posting?
Two to three. I do a read-through when I know I’m done with the chapter/fic, upload it to Ao3, read it again, edit if need be, post it, then read it one time when it’s published.
If you were to revise one of your older fics from start to finish, which would it be and why?
Once I finish my current running fic (IFABOOTI) I will probably run through and edit some things.
What do you look for in a beta?
I don’t have a Beta, mostly because I want this to stay as much as a fun thing as possible, and though Betas are doing the most, I feel like it would put me in “work-write” mode, not “fun-write” mode.
If you could write the sequel (or prequel) to any fic out there not written by yourself, which would you choose?
To Be Honest I would just rewrite glee itself. (Which I am doing at my side blog, GleeDeservesBetter, with S2 fully complete!)
Do you take liberties with canon or are you very strict about your fic being canon compliant?
I consider myself to mostly write Canon-Adjacent, which means I take from canon but occasionally change some things. Whether it be writing in a fanon couple or changing the outcomes of some canon to what I’d prefer.
Talk about a review that made your day.
Any time a mutual of mine, (especially @gorgxoxus, my lovely wife ;) ) comments it makes my day.
Do you ever get rude reviews and how do you deal with them?
I used to? I think since Glee has finished airing there’s a lot less rude reviewers. I’d either block or just be myself and mess with them.
What advice do you have to people just starting to write?
Write at your comfort level! You only need the basics; making sure paragraphs are broken up and dialogue sticks with the character speaking it! Your writing will grow with you; let it.
Which fic do you most like to discuss with other people? Why?
I don’t discuss fics really? Only with the writers writing them.
What's one aspect of writing fic that gets you really excited?
When I can really connect to it, even if it’s just making me laugh (which many of @kurtanaaa’s fics do.)

Check out Kurtdeservesbetter’s Fics
How Not To Spy On A Date, by Finn Hudson. -  Finn just wants to make sure Kurt is okay on his first date.
Forgive and Forget -  Artie, Puck and Santana notice that Blaine isn't very fond of them. They want to know why.
Just The Way You Are -  Finn knows he has to do something to show Kurt how sorry he was for not being there before. How Kurt was much more of a man than he was, that Kurt was stronger, braver than he was. He knew it would take more than a performance, but Finn knew it would be a good first step. He just needed to think it out first.

What do you think of Kurt’s relationship with:
Rachel
Mercedes
Santana
any other friendship with girl? Brittany or Tina?
Oh boy. Okay.
Rachel: hate it. Hate the way it transitioned to sudden besties out of no where. Hate how it turned Kurt into her cheerleader 90% of the time while she took the 10% to reciprocate (Swan Song for example, that was a good pep talk from her to him). Hate how when he's not with New Directions, she's happy to help him try for a solo because he's her "only competition". Yet, when he tries for leading man material at McKinley, she too laughs in his face. When he gets the NYADA letter and she doesn't, she turns his excitement into her pity party. When he wins Midnight Madness, she turns it into "I guess I'm not talented enough and won't audition for anything". I hate how when she ditches him for fake friends who bad mouth him, she doesn't see that as a red flag to ditch them, until they vote for him and not her. I hate how she manipulates Elliott into claiming Kurt kicked her out when it was her own damn choice, and disowns Kurt when he didn't automatically take her side by playing referee for her outlandish claims against Santana. I hate "my best gay", it isn't cute, it isn't quirky, it's stupid and Kurt Hummel does deserve a better best friend who doesn't just use him to hoist themselves up. I'm glad Colfer called it the fuck out in his episode, even if it was magically fine at the end again just because she showed up to his Peter Pan show - shocker. I hate how she destroyed him being the actual student president by cheating, but that's fine because she owns up to it I guess? Like they still had to claim the cheerleader the winner who did nothing all year, when they could've had Kurt who would actually have done something good, but aT LeAsT sHe WaS HoNeSt right?????? I mean she is the one who also decided to run against him for a hot minute too, but SHE DROPPED OUT GUISE. BFF'S. It would've been so much better if they both went to New York, and then agreed to be roommates because it would be cheaper and we see them expand into actual friendship from there. Kurt doesn't need to stay relevant as a character just by being Rachel's best friend on the fact they both are into Broadway. THAT is the stereotype. Because remember, he's gay and she has two gay dads, so meant to be in each other's lives. Also ew having Rachel as a surrogate, what the fuck. No. Keep that controlling person away from any child of Kurt and Blaine's, that'll just cause more problems.
Mercedes: Maybe it's Colfer and Riley's friendship chemistry showing on screen, but I love and will forever love this friendship. I love that Kurt can admit he's wrong with her! ON HIS OWN! No sob story, no passive aggressiveness, no call out. Him realizing encouraging her to lose the weight was wrong? Growth. No, it isn't a perfect friendship, but it didn't start out of no where either. Kurt being dumb with trying to set her up with dates so he didn't feel bad in befriending Blaine. Mercedes letting her religious blinders encourage Kurt to go to church with her - but at least she approaches this conversation honestly, she doesn't sugar coat it from her point of view, which is good. They're both honest with one another. They're in each other's corners. Kurt Hummel heart eyeing every time she performs is the best. And it's dumb that it got pushed to the back for season 3 and onward. It should've grown from high schooler kids to young adults like a fine wine, instead of getting overlooked. There was potential of Mercedes being the surrogate, or even just another egg donor! But you know, some people needed to be zeroed in on and characters had to be tied to that characters hip, and Mercedes wasn't it.
Santana: Can you imagine how great (or terrible) this could've been if Kurt remained on the Cheerios? We can dream! But what we got in S4&S5 was great. Nice bantering, a mutual respect and understanding becoming a thing over time. They made pacts! They swore to each other about things off screen! She and him would've made a dangerous duo in New York if Rachel never moved back into the loft. She could've encouraged him to loosen up more, he would've helped her unlock a more vulnerable side of emotions when it came to catching feelings! Would've loved to see them bonding more like they did with the boyfriend arms watching TV! We were robbed, and s6 destroyed it all together, so. I wish we could've seen them on double dates, with Dani and Blaine. I wish we could've seen her trying to hook him up with guys in season 4! But no, two Slytherin's teaming up is too dangerous I guess. Fuck you glee.
Brittany: In the first season, it's nice to see that Brittany was the popular girl but still showing up to Kurt's house and dancing with him. It's because of her he joins the football team, briefly, and we get to see him kick ass at it and make a win for the Titans for the first time in however long! That's a big deal. I'm glad that she also approaches him in his "straight" phase and offers to help. And I'm glad she encourages Santana to go support Kurt during Prom Queen. BUT ANYTHING AFTER THAT, is null and void. Because she suddenly becomes this overly stupid child who only wants things done her way. When she offers to help him with his running for class president, she only focuses on him being gay and that's it - because it makes him a unicorn? It's a homophobic school, you really think shoving it in the bullies faces won't get him laughed out of a win? And he ditches the idea last minute anyway, so why bother going with that twist anyway? And when he gives her the rundown on what he wants to do, she ignores him and does it her way. When he gets mad, all of a sudden it's poor Brittany, she was just trying to help, Kurt's a meanie face. And when he (stupidly) accepts her idea for the campaign posters, she's like "oh by the way, I'm running against you now sorry I didn't tell you lol". And the bullshit of season 6 of her telling him that he needs to get over Blaine, then magically wants them to be in her and Santana's wedding? No. Keep her as far away from Kurt as possible after season 2.
Tina: Remember when Kurt fake dates her first? Wouldn't that have been an interesting play throughout that episode? Seeing Burt ask about Tina, Kurt bringing Tina over for dinner, Kurt and Tina discussing this new beard-ship for his dad, and then when he comes out, she would've been so happy for him? WE WERE ROBBED, YET AGAIN. We see them being friends throughout the seasons, but there isn't any growth with it. We don't really see her and Kurt doing things outside of school again. We see her help him for his NYADA audition as Christine (which he replaces her for Rachel, big shock, fuck you). We see him defending her against the jock bullies in the hallway. We see them walking to glee club together. But there's still nothing expanded on so it just falls flat. Clearly she and Kurt talk still after he graduates, as they both enjoy gossip. But what else?! We don't know! It had potential for friendship outside of school and outside of just gossiping! But alas.

A call to Sebastian Smythe is his last resort, and maybe the one that actually starts to make things better.
Chapter snippet below
“You promised me,” Sebastian said, his voice shaking. Blaine couldn’t tell if it was with anger or hurt. “You promised me that you’d tell me these things.”
“You never asked,” Blaine tried, but his voice was weak.
“That doesn’t matter!”
Blaine flinched.
Sebastian lowered his voice. “It might not be lying, but you were still hiding it from me.”
“I’m sorry,” Blaine whispered. “I just…I knew you’d be unhappy about it.”
“You’re right, I am unhappy about it. But I’m more upset that you broke your promise to be honest with me.”
“I know,” Blaine said, his head hanging.
Sebastian took a few calming breaths. He scrubbed his hand over his face and fought down the looming panic. Blaine. Alone. In New York. With Kurt. Without him .
“Lying aside,” he said, “I’m still not comfortable with you going to New York.”
Blaine finally looked back up at him, Sebastian’s eyes were wet.
“And I’m asking you…please don’t go.”

Mendacious (22/31)
Notes: God, I love today’s prompt. It fits the story so well.
AO3
--
NUANCE
Rachel and Finn break up. Kurt spends the evening consoling a crying Finn. Finn is rightfully mad at Kurt as well, but he’s too devastated about Rachel to chew him out. He still loves her, but she used his passion to justify her bad actions, and Finn can’t get over that.
Heartbreak.
Kurt caused that as well.
--
The next day, Kurt checks the hallways. Not for homophobes, but for Blaine. When he’s certain that Blaine’s not at his locker, Kurt slips a piece of paper into it.
--
Dear Blaine.
This is Kurt. I have something big to tell you and you are absolutely free to hate me afterwards. I’ve thought of many ways of how to tell you the truth, but in the end, it turns out that I’m the coward and I’m writing you a letter. Mostly, because I am too afraid to face you after what I’ve done.
I know about Eddie Andrews.
My friend Rachel and I were foolish and stupid. As you know, the two of us want that NYADA scholarship and back when I heard that you want it too, I didn’t know you yet. I let my judgement colour my perspective of you, and I had decided that I hated you with great passion. Because you are popular. Because you are a “good gay”. Because you have everything.
Rachel and I decided to come up with a plan to extort you for personal information. Then, we’d use it against you. Yes, you’ve read that correctly and please believe me when I am deeply ashamed and that I am eternally sorry. Rachel and I created a fake Facebook account for me.
I am Eddie Andrews.
If you haven’t shredded this letter into pieces yet, then let me tell you again that I am so sorry. I was wrong about you. I thought you were just an absolute dumb idiot who didn’t know what it was like to live with hardship. You once wrote to Eddie that you don’t know me and Rachel and that our lives are none of your business. We aren’t as smart as you.
When I started this, I had malicious intent, but the more we spoke, the more I realised how wrong I was about you. A part of me has always known that this is bad, but when we became friends, I didn’t want to lose it. I justified it by saying that I was doing it for you. I didn’t want you to lose me after everything, and that’s partially true, but I also couldn’t admit that I couldn’t bear to lose you. Your messages were the highlights of my day. My best friend.
Please believe me that even though I lied about being Eddie, I never lied when I was proud of you etc. You are an extraordinary person and it’s foolish that I had to be such a fucking idiot in order to figure that out.
I was going to confess. I was ready to be torn apart by you.
And then you told me you loved me and I realised that there might be another reason why I couldn’t give up on you. Why I didn’t want to give up on you. I am not great with admitting my feelings either, and I am still kind of confused about everything, but you are right. There really is something between us. And I’m sorry. I am so, so sorry. I told you that I am a coward. This is the fifth version of this letter and there are still things left unsaid, since my head is reeling. There aren’t enough words to describe how utterly sorry I am.
I can imagine that you hate me and that you never want to hear from me again. I respect that. I just want you to know that you are the most amazing person I’ve ever met. You’re kind, attentive, sweet, and more honest than I have ever been. You thanked me for being there for you, but the feeling is mutual. I don’t know who I would’ve been without you. Probably still the petty, manipulative horrible person who I used to be. Don’t see this as me excusing my behaviour. There’s no room for nuance. I did a bad thing, but I just want you to know that you were never the problem. I’m sorry.
Goodbye, Blaine.
Love,
Kurt.

Kiss 💋 Link Pt. 2
Back by popular demand! Short chapter to finish up! Glad you guys loved part one, hope you love the final chapter! 💚
F!Blaine x MC(Kennedy)
Part One
Tag list: @samanthadalton @fundamentalromantic @shows-simp-card @blaine-hayes @kwaj05 @scarlet-letter-a0114 @robintora @dopeyouth @iamsimpforpoppy @somewillwin @choicesilona @mintchocolate-chip @clowneryme
Kennedy didn’t think of much when she was asleep that night. The combination of near hypothermia and heartbreak sprinkled with intoxication on the top made her brain inactive during her slumber, which went by in a blink of an eye.
When she came to, she tried to stretch like normal but found herself unable to, due to the dead weight that was Blaine.
Kennedy smirked before the events of last night came flooding back to her. “Blaine!”
Kennedy shoved the girl away from her, automatically waking her up in the process.
“Ow! What the hell Rutherland!?” Blaine groaned.
“No...I, I told you to stay away from me Blaine!” Kennedy cried crawling out of bed.
“What are you talking about?” Blaine started. “You hit your head pretty hard, you feeling ok?”
“You’re lying! You’re trying to manipulate me!” Kennedy winced as her headache came pounding back, making her double over in pain.
“Kennedy!” Blaine came rushing over.
“No! Stay back, I’m fine. You’re just trying to take advantage of me again.”
“Kennedy what the hell are you talking about!” Blaine sighed.
“I told you to stay away and somehow you managed to get me in your bed! You just couldn’t let me go huh.”
“Kennedy are you insane!? You fell! You hit your head really hard, you could have a concussion! The last thing I’m worried about is taking advantage of you.” Blaine protested. “I couldn’t just let you lay out there and freeze to death.”
“Well go tell it to Allison! You best be getting ready for your hot date tonight.”
“Her name is Amanda!” Blaine corrected.
“Ah ha! So you do care about her!” Kennedy yelled.
“What!? No!”
“Psh, goodbye Blaine. I hope she was worth it!”
Blaine collapsed back onto her bed and cried as she watched her leave. She hadn’t cried in years, and it was her first crying over a specific person. She truly didn’t know what to do.
Class rolled around the following Monday and Blaine ignored the dirty looks Dionne and the others were giving her,
“Unless you’re all going to compliment how good I look, I suggest none of you open your mouths.” Blaine hissed sitting down in her typical spot. Waiting for Kennedy.
Dionne stepped over and leaned down to whisper with Blaine.
“Good going Hayes.”
“What’s your deal? We’ve been friends forever and you haven’t even heard my side.” Blaine protested.
“Well she’s my suitemate and I’ve had to pull damage control all weekend.”
“How is she?” Blaine asked more broken than Dionne expected.
“She’s...destroyed but she found a solution.” Dionne smiled.
“What is it?” Blaine asked and before Dionne could reply Kennedy walked in and went straight to Evelyn, joining her side.
“Apparently over the weekend, The two ran into each other and really hit it off.” Dionne squealed taking the vacant seat beside Blaine carefully watching her reaction.
Blaine pensively wrote her assignments down all class period, occasionally peeking over to steal a glance from Kennedy who was too busy laughing and getting too close to Evelyn for Blaine’s liking. Kennedy never once looked in Blaine’s direction and it was irking her.
“Blaine! Calm down I can feel the steam coming from your ears.” Dionne cooed, trying to dowse the impending fire.
“Calm down!? How am I gonna calm down when the person I love is flirting with another person right in front of me!?” Blaine snapped. “She acts like I’m not even here!”
Dionne smiled 5 miles wide, turning to place a hand on Blaine’s shoulder. “Hmmm, now you finally understand how Kennedy felt.”
“What?” Blaine said scrunching her eyebrows.
“Now you know how she felt when she saw you going behind her back on a dating app.”
“I said I was sorry Dionne. What else do I have to do!”
“Kennedy is sophisticated in the romance department. You can’t just yell at her and demand forgiveness. You broke her trust.”
“But D! We weren’t THAT serious...”
“Please! You two are crazy for each other Blaine and you know it. You got scared of your feelings and went back to what you do best and got caught. You like her a lot and are afraid. Hell you just said you loved her.”
“Ok I do love her, but what do I have to do to get her back?”
Both girls stopped and stared as Evelyn and Kennedy started drawing on each other faces, really seeming to enjoy the silliness between them.
“I don’t know Blaine. But you better figure it out quick.”
The bell rang dismissing the class and Blaine intercepted Evelyn as she split from Kennedy in the hallway.
“What do you want Blaine?” Evelyn sighed.
“I want you to stay away from Kennedy.”
“Not going to happen. I like her too and she likes me. You had your chance.”
“Well you see Evelyn, the thing is, I’m not asking you. I’m telling you.”
“Oh the big bad Blaine Hayes is jealous that someone is getting something she wants. Grow up Ardona.”
“Kennedy is mine. Yes I made a mistake and I’m sorry. I’ll spend eternity making up for it but I will not sit by and watch her be with you.” Blaine challenged.
“How dare you!” Evelyn hissed. “Well sorry to burst your bubble Princess, but there’s nothing you can do to get me to leave her alone.”
Blaine pulled her phone out and found her dads number, showing Evelyn.
“See that?”
“Yes?”
“All I have to do is call Daddy and I’ll have the entire Ardonian Army at the border ready to invade.”
“On what terms!? You can’t invade our country over a girl especially your rival! He will never allow it!”
“Why not? It’s happened for Centuries.” Blaine stepped up into Evelyn’s face. “You don’t want to go to war with me or my country. You and I both know how bad it will end.”
Evelyn seemed to cower down but still stood close, she wouldn’t give up either. But a fiery blonde stepped in between them and tugged Blaine off in a hurry.
“Slow down Rutherland! Your hurting my wrist!” Blaine yelled.
Kennedy found a vacant room and shoved Blaine in, locking the door behind her.
“Jesus you have a death grip.” Blaine hissed massaging her wrist.
“Shut up Blaine. You will talk when I say you can.” Kennedy regained herself and started.
“I hope you understand a tiny bit of how broken I feel. You hurt me Blaine and I’ll never forget it. But I never asked why? Why did you do it?”
“I don’t know. I just, I just felt trapped so I found a new this née dating app to try. You of all people should know how hard it is to date when your the first kid. I’ve had so many relationships destroyed because of who I was. Not to mention our countries and parents would kill us if they found out. I guess I was too afraid I’d lose you and when you said you weren’t sure, I took the easy way out. I tried to have my cake and eat it to. But I’m so sorry Kennedy. I truly am. I don’t expect you to forgive me, but I’ll do anything to make it right.” Blaine pulled her phone out and smashed it against the floor, destroying it. “Starting with this.”
“Blaine your phone.” Kennedy gasped.
“Forget it. I don’t need it. I just need you and that’s all.”
Kennedy stood in thought deciphering Blaine’s words, “Would you really go to war for me?”
“Of course I would! I would conquer the entire world for you. Because Kennedy? I’m in love with you! I was just too stupid to admit it. And now I just ruined everything.”
“Yeah you did.” Kennedy smirked. “But I’m willing to overlook it on one condition.”
“Anything!” Blaine protested.
Kennedy ran and jumped into Blaine’s arms, letting the bigger girl hoist her up and hold her against the wall. “Kiss me.”
“I’ll do one better Rutherland.”
Blaine peppered kisses up and down Kennedy’s neck, tracing her jawline with kisses before sucking on her ear lobe, making Kennedy shiver with pleasure.
“Not fair.” The blonde moaned.
“And for the grand finale.” Blaine teased lightly biting and sucking on Kennedy’s collarbone.
“Blaine! That’s gonna leave a mark!”
“That’s the idea.”
“Possessive much?” Kennedy laughed.
“When it comes to you? Absolutely, everyone is going to know you belong to me.”
“Blaine, I love you.”
“I love you more.”
“No I love you more.”
“No I love you even...” Blaine tried but Kennedy kissed her again cutting her off.
“Ok so maybe it’s mutual.” Blaine laughed.

i've seen a lot of kurtbastian hate on my dash tonight (and of course it's not properly tagged), so as i see you as THE kurtbastian person among my mutuals (mostly because you kinda converted me), i'd like to say YAY!!!! SHIPPING!!!!!! shipping is funnnnnn!!!!! and so is multi-shipping!!!! okay, that's it
Alright, I have a few things to say to this.
First, I love this for me. Because the Kurtbastian person feels like such an accomplishment??? I also happened to notice recently that I am one of the top 3 blogs to be recommended when you search for Kurtbastian on Tumblr, and I’m still pretty proud of that accomplishment. Though, I’ve been called a Kurtbastian blog before, and I’d just like to clarify (not specifically to you, but to people in general) that I’m not specifically a Kurtbastian blog.
Second, YES! Shipping is so fun! Yay shipping and multi-shipping and finding enjoyment and comfort in fictional characters!
Third, I’m so sorry that you’ve been seeing a lot of Kurtbastian hate on your dash. I totally get that. I don’t see too much of it anymore thankfully (I have the anti kurtbastian tag filtered, I’ve unfollowed the blogs that I noticed sharing those types of posts often, and most of my mutuals who don’t like the ship are at least aware of my love and tend to tag appropriately), but I completely understand what it’s like to have to see all that hate for something you love.
And now I’m going to go on a long monologue on my thoughts about the Kurtbastian hate that I come across online.
I think part of it is people not realizing that anti posts like that can be upsetting. Another part, probably the larger part, is leftover feelings from the earlier days of the Glee fandom, when multi-shipping Klaine and Kurtbastian was really... not a thing, I don’t think. So a lot of people now still have a strong reaction to either ship, if they ship the other one. Even today, several of the Kurtbastian blogs I follow don’t like Blaine/Klaine, and that’s another thing that Klaine shippers will see and think that all Kurtbastian shippers must be that way. I want to make it clear that I don’t think there’s anything wrong with not liking Blaine/Klaine; like I said, I follow some of these blogs, I’m friends with some of these people and we get along great, and most importantly, we respect the other person’s preferences.
There’s also just the people who like to start shit. People who will go on anon to send an ask just to get a reaction. People who don’t agree with someone else’s opnions and, instead of scrolling past or filtering or blocking they decide the best way to deal with this difference of opinion is starting a fight with someone who is just trying to have fun and enjoy the things they enjoy. And this certainly isn’t specific to people picking on Kurtbastian; I have unfollowed Klaine shippers who I’ve seen start fights with Seblaine shippers, and I don’t even like Seblaine. The discourse and fighting is exhausting and one of the best decisions I’ve made was starting to unfollow and filter when I’ve come across it, because it’s made my dash a much happier place.

February 2021 Music Wrap-Up
Despite February being the shortest month, it sure went out swinging music-wise- I had 4 new-to-me albums, including one that is most likely making it to the Best of 2021 (I know it’s a bit soon to call it, but the hyperfixation wants what it wants!) I feel like this month is closer to what my bonkers taste usually is, which I would describe as “No Taste, No Logic, Only Vibes!”
So, in rough order of how I listened to them:
Tumblr media
1. The Apple Tree (Original Broadway Cast)
The way that Barbara Harris’ Wikipedia page is now a permanent tab on my phone... I’m sorry to my beloved MASH mutuals and to Mr. Alan “Only Valid Man” Alda, but this was Barbara Harris’ show from beginning to end (I know B&H wrote it for her, but it is... very obvious that it was a star vehicle). @oldbaton posted her Tony performance for Gorgeous and I watched it 5 times on loop, then went to YouTube and watched it for another 45 minutes, then listened to the whole album once before settling on the second half exclusively.
When I tell you that Ms. Harris Has The Range!!! She plays three different characters in this show and she manages to not only make them distinct characters but she makes them SOUND completely different???!!!! The fact that she was critically acclaimed every time she was on stage but as soon as she won her Tony she quit Broadway for good????!!! Every time I think of her I go bonkers in Yonkers I tell you!!! Is this what y’all feel for *insert theater dame here* bc I Get It Now
Tumblr media
2. Tarzan (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack)
I know I am neither the first nor the last to express this sentiment, but permit me to once again say: MR. COLLINS... PHIL, MY DUDE MY GUY, BUDDY, PAL- YOU DID NOT HAVE TO GO SO HARD ON THE MONKEY MOVIE!!! (Yes I know they’re apes, I would never mis-species Terk)
He did though, and I’m glad we’re all as a generation re-discovering this, the best Disney soundtrack (This Is Not Up For Debate.) Why?
1. It Slaps in its entirety with the exception of the *NSYNC cover of ‘Trashin’ The Camp’ which was muted after the first listen, however the reminder that this was made in the 90s was very funny
2. Glenn Close was in this and I just never noticed??
and most importantly, I am thrilled to introduce a new musical genre that will hopefully be making repeat appearances throughout the year:
3. Whoops, You Made A Trans Song!
Thrilled to announce that both ‘Son of Man’ and ‘Strangers Like Me’ are Trans Songs! Yes, I do have long, rambly explanations and lyric analyses as to why, but also? If You Know You Know. :)
Tumblr media
3. Etazhi by Molchat Doma
I saw this shitpost on my dash ages ago and was haunted by it until it popped back up this month. According to Wikipedia, “their sound was influenced by 1980s Russian rock music and has been described as post-punk, new wave, synth-pop, and cold wave.” So I like all this, apparently? Cool-cool-cool.
The fact that I have no idea what they’re saying and have no real interest in finding out just adds to the chill vibes for me personally, definitely something I can listen to when I simultaneously need music but also can’t listen to anything or I’ll get overwhelmed and die in real life.
Tumblr media
4. Helping Hands by Butcher Boy
Ok ok ok ok OK OKAAAAAAAYYYYY. THIS. This album. I caught @mrspider‘s art stream a few weeks back (Loved it btw, combination chill and bonkers energy in the most wholesome way possible, also he’s the funniest person on Tumblr hands-down AND another trans Will, so check him out!) and he randomly played “Whistle And I’ll Come To You”, which activated my hyperfixation sleeper agent bc I have literally Not Stopped Listening To This Album. Seriously. That was 11 days ago and I have barely listened to anything that is not this for more than a song or two until tonight because nothing else has been Hitting like this!
I’ve gone through the wringer through this one, lads- not a single skip, every song has been my favorite at one point; I’ve full-on It’s Always Sunny mentally dissected just about every word John Blaine Hunt has gently deposited in my brain.
I also may have my Queer Lens screwed on too tight bc I’m pretty sure it was not their intention, but some stuff on here Is Gay! Again, I can make the long, rambly argument or you can give it a listen for yourself and see what you think. ;)
