Warnings - ooc Dazai (kind of? Realistically, he’d never be in a relationship especially while in the pm.)

a/n - Quick warning, I’m terrible at writing. I’ve never really posted my writing before but I actually kind of like this one so here we are 🤗. It’s just a short drabble so atleast it’s not one of the longer ones I’ve written. Also the reader is said to not be apart of the port mafia in this one. It’s not really a warning so I couldn’t put it up there but it’s still kinda important to say I feel like.

When Dazai had called you and asked to meet up one random Saturday night you at first agreed without thinking much about it. After all, with your boyfriend being a port mafia executive you didn’t get to see him that often since you yourself weren’t a member. So now here you were, immediately regretting your decision to meet up with him. Maybe it was the fact it was completely dark and your night vision wasnt the greatest or maybe because you two were walking down some pathway alone in a dense forest, you really couldn’t tell. It had probably been a combination of both, you would have believed if it were with how fast your heart was beating.

“Your heart is racing, dearest.”

Dazai commented, his right hand tightly gripping onto your wrist, two of his fingers on your pulse point as you trailed behind him. You rolled your eyes, lips pressed into a thin line as you could barely make out your boyfriend infront of you.

“Well maybe it wouldn’t be if someone wasn’t dragging me through a forest in the middle of the night. If I didn’t know any better, I’d assume you’re bringing me out here to silence me.”

Dazai didn’t bother replying, an amused smile on his face as they continued walking down the narrow pathway. A comfortable silence fell between the both of you as you walked through the forest. After minutes of a surprisingly comfortable silence you two finally arrived at the spot Dazai wanted to show you, a small clearing in the middle of the forest that was covered in small flowers and had a river running through the middle.

“Come sit.”

Letting go of your wrist, Dazai walked over to a fallen tree trunk and sat down, patting the free spot next to himself. You followed him a few seconds later, sitting down next to him and looking at his face with confusion written all over yours as to why he had brought you here in the middle of the night. As if he had read your thoughts, he let out a soft chuckle, simply looking up at the stars as he intertwined one of his hands with yours.

“I simply wanted to stargaze with you my lovely. That’s all. How about I teach you a few constellations while we’re here, hm?”

while I do respect and like how Rick is slightly rewriting the story with his newfound perspective on it, I can’t help but feel sad at the absence of one specific scene. they didn't add the scene where they - everyone - kneel down after Percy is claimed. that scene is important and they should've kept it and I will die on this hill !!

you have Chiron making that spine chilling announcement while going down on his knees which is SO important and significant because he's an ancient guide to all of the heroes they've heard about and there he was - kneeling down to Percy. and here he stands, the paragon offering an unparalleled gesture of deference and recognition—not to another fabled hero of lore, but to him. like !!!! it’s  not a homage paid to a figure of myth or legend but to a boy—the very one society dismissed, the overlooked one, the subject of ridicule.

it also further shows how different percy is. he has been yearning to be just like the rest, to fit in like everyone else. and there he was, in a camp surrounded by people who acted just like him, who suffered from the same things as him and well, technically he should fit in, right? and just when he thinks he's finally at home, that he’s found friends, real friends — that happens. 

and Chiron declares he's one of a kind, singular among the demigods. and it happens again. he's different, again. he doesn't fit in anymore, again. it's the same story, the same ending. once more, the isolating cloak of difference envelopes him, shattering the fragile illusion of acceptance that he so dearly wished for. it was a never ending cycle.

and don’t get me started on how it shows just how feared the children of the big three are !! it’s a testament to the power these demigods wield, not solely in strength but in the paralyzing fear their existence evokes.
