oh gosh, welcome! in general i am BAD about remembering who i follow and who i don't; a great way to find who you want to follow might be to just go through the #hermitcraft tag and follow people you find funny, or, heck, if i reblog a lot of art from a certain artist you like (or not a lot, like one art even), go follow them!

while we're here, a few additional general etiquette rules (keeping in mind that like, this is tumblr, trying to claim ANYTHING is a whole-community norm is basically impossible i am claiming a norm from my specific circle of guys): do not crosstag, only tag things that are actually in your post. don't use the 'minecraft' tag, that tag is for people who like the actual game. (i mean, you can use it if you are posting about minecraft, but not if you're posting about the youtubers). it's generally considered rude to put your crit in the main tags, especially without tagging 'discourse' somewhere so it can be filtered. shipping should generally have a 'hermitshipping' tag on it for filtering purposes as well, but if something is tagged hermitshipping and you're mad about it just like, block them, they did the important part.

the hermits i know of on tumblr (could be more, idk): @/joehills @/pearlescentmoo @/falsesymmetry @/therealdocm77 (not actually active but has the account) @/geminitayyt. cleo also had an account but it is no longer active. also @/inthelittlewood is here and like very active, as is @/askzloyxp and @/quinnhills. as a general etiquette rule, just... act like they're perfectly ordinary tumblr users and continue your business as usual! and don't send them weird asks or anything.

honestly it's just frustrating. you have people finding misogynistic cishet dudes and defending their emotional neglect of their sexual partners because it superficially resembles aromanticism even when the men themselves do not identify as aromantic and are often neglecting their sexual partners specifically because they view a girlfriend as the only type of woman who deserves any type of effort and so if the chick they're fucking isn't their girlfriend they can treat her like dirt. and then when people are rightly like "hey fuck you for defending a misogynist" the same people who claimed the cishet guy who never at any point claimed to be aromantic was aromantic and therefore criticizing his misogyny is arophobia go into the aro tags to despair at how many people HATE aromantics so they can whip a bunch of bystanders into a frenzy because they've heard that people are discrediting aromanticism, and therefore are encouraged to read the original unrelated posts or people getting pissed at someone defending emotional abuse by calling it aromanticism in bad faith or not at all, and so you get a mountain of people theorizing that the attack on cishet aro men was manufactured by TERFs instead of people who think that girls who date guys deserve dudes who don't see them as a freelance contractor they can expect sex from without having to treat them with the bare minimum respect they feel a girlfriend is owed.

Just found out that EA rejected the proposed 3rd Mcgee's Alice game, which at this point isn't surprising but still disappointing since I really liked the franchise (call it a comfort series/guilty pleasure/nostalgic, etc.), not to mention the creator seemed genuinely passionate about telling this story about a character that was near and dear to him despite the franchise never being a money-printing powerhouse.

Like, I know I'm not saying anything profound here, but it just reminds how wretched it is that it's still considered the norm for artist/writers/etc. to have to literally sell away the rights to their own stories, a part of them that they've poured their soul and experiences into, to a publisher (that has no passion for the project beyond the monetary returns) just for the POSSIBILITY that the story will maaaaybe reach it's intended audience and have the original vision/message be left intact.

As if it isn't bad enough that an IP that does end up succeeding will most likely be bastardized and milked to creative bankruptcy even after the creator dies, the alternative is that if the IP isn't "marketable" enough the publisher just holds the IP hostage from it's own creator (usually having no intent of doing anything with it).

Like, especially as of late it seems like publishers/studios are all too eager to do the latter, and it deserves to be straight-up illegal.
