I have always been wary of the psychiatric industry, but its only very recently that i started to read anti-psychiatric works. Your blog is the first time i saw that the "chemical imbalances causing mental illness" is a myth, and honestly its something im having a hard time wrapping my head around.
Is it that mood regulation struggles, labelled as a mental illnesses, has more to do with outside factors instead of the person "just being that way"? Is it therefore unlikely for someone to have struggles with mood regulation if they cant identify any external causes that would cause them to be, for example, extremely agoraphobic or to have anger management issues? Im asking this for myself mainly, cause i always had intense agoraphobia no matter how i often go outside my home (in fact it was worse when i was a teen and i was outside the house in even more back then). I cant think of any reason for me to be like this than chemical imbalances in my brain.
the specific 'chemical imbalance' myth i was talking about in this post is the idea that depression is caused by low serotonin, and that therefore SSRIs—serotonin re-uptake inhibitors, ie drugs that cause a higher level of serotonin in the brain—ought to cure or at least ameliorate depression. this conjecture is belied by the fact that SSRIs don't, at a population level, reliably perform better than placebo.
although a neurobiological cause of 'mental illness' has long been the holy grail of psychiatry, the serotonin imbalance myth is far from the only hypothesis that psychiatrists and neuroscientists have proposed. so, a critique of the serotonin myth is not synonymous with, or generalisable to, a critique of every neurobiological mechanism purported to explain psychiatric diagnoses. you may be interested to know, though, that genomics and neuroscience have not identified a biological cause of any psychiatric diagnosis (p. 851).
all human experiences are biologically instantiated, including in the brain and wider nervous system. we are embodied beings. however, it is a leap to assume that such instantiation is automatically equivalent to a causal explanation or disease etiology. in other words, to deny that psychiatric diagnoses are known to be biologically caused does not mean we deny that thoughts and thought patterns express in the physical matter of neuroanatomy. this is a major philosophical sticking point to keep in mind whenever you're looking at something like, eg, a study that purports to show 'brain differences' in those assigned a certain psychiatric diagnosis. another thing to consider is whether these papers are plagued with methodological issues or financial conflicts of interest.
i can't possibly tell you why you exhibit agoraphobia. however, when i talk about social, economic, and environmental factors that may contribute to the patterns of behaviour labelled as 'mental illness', i'm talking about much more than the individual choice to leave your house. since phobias are 'anxiety disorders', i might start by probing into questions like: is the world you live in safe? do you perceive it as safe? do you or your community face existential threats that may confront you more obviously when you go outside? are you nervous around other people, and if so, might that be connected to fears (well-founded or not) about interpersonal violence and harm? do you think any of these anxieties may be connected to the hostility and inaccessible design of the social environment and economic conditions?
human behaviour and thought varies. some of those variations may be totally benign; others may be helpful or harmful to the person living with them. it would be weird if every single one of the 8 billion people on earth experienced precisely the same amount of anxiety about any situation, no? all of this is to say: yeah, it's entirely possible you have been, for one reason or another (genetic, neuroanatomical, social, &c) predisposed to experience high, even debilitating levels of anxiety when leaving your home. most human characteristics develop from a tangle of social, environmental, material causes—ie, from a combination of 'nature' and 'nurture'. what doesn't follow, though, is the claim that there is therefore a discrete, 'diseased' element of your brain or brain functioning that can simply be cured or eliminated through psychiatric intervention.
it is a critical point of anti-psychiatry to challenge psychiatric and neuroscientific claims to neurobiological determinism where psychiatric diagnoses are concerned. this is for many reasons, including: a) that these claims have not been demonstrated to actually be true [see above]; b) that they rob pathologised people of agency and self-determination [see: you're too sick to know you're sick, and the doctor will fix you now]; c) that they are often pushed by pharmaceutical companies with financial interests, or grant-funded researchers with... financial interests; d) that they are politically seductive in various eugenic, hereditarian discourses that seek to eliminate the biologically 'unfit' element from society.

the ending of the last of us being a point of discussion is one of those things that I know is going to be a breaking point for me. because i have been upset about it since the video game
BUT NOT FOR THE REASONS YOU THINK.
I’m mad that its even considered “a choice” for Joel to get Ellie out of there. THEY WERE DOING SCIENCE WRONG!!!
I’m sorry you don't kill your one immune specimen on the first fucking day! This is not how cures are found. How many tests did they run on Ellie? How much blood did they take? How many lab mice did they genetically alter and infect to see if it a replicalbe cure?
THE INCOMPETENCE OF THE FIREFLIES AND THEIR DOCTORS IS RAGE INDUCING. Living tissue it the key here people. Kill Ellie on day one and they can only test cures for as long as they have well preserved tissue samples which looking at the conditions in Last of Us, they dont have. This is a get it right the first time or you killed her for nothing set up.
That’s before the show decided to give us like an origin story of Ellie’s birth and we now have a clear picture of how she became immune. It was low grade inculcation. Cool neato. Marlene might not know what happened exactly but she certainly can put the pieces together. Marlene could have communicated what she knew of Ellie’s birth to the doctors and the fact that they have proof that Ellie is immune and from that information alone a good biologist could have started making test subject mice.
*pinches nose bridge*
I understand this is not the point. I really really do. I understand that the narrative and the discussion is supposed to center around the morals of One Life out weighting the Lives of Many. It’s supposed to be the exact opposite of all things Star Trek. EXCEPT THEY ARE TRYING TO PASS OFF SCIENCE THAT WOULD ONLY WORK IN A STAR TREK EPISODE. *deep calming breath*
Here’s the problem. The show and the video game want us to believe this is a morality question. Is it morally wrong for Joel to doom of of humanity to save his adoptive daughter? That’s the central question.
But if they were never gonna save humanity. If the Fireflies were just gonna kill Ellie the first day they have her then there’s no moral question. Or at least the question is different. We are now asking “Is it wrong to kill an entire building of people in order to stop them from committing a murder?”
If no cure can come from Ellie’s death (because we have established they would have never found it) then her life is more valuable than the lives of everyone in that building because she can survive situations no one else can. She could clear out whole infected towns one by one.
Anyway. Science Education People. Everyone needs more of it.

As I said, here are some of the quotes of Dzhokhar Dudayev, the first president of the Chechen Republic of Ichkeria, taken from his various interviews and compiled with the help of his wife into a book "Лицар Свободи" ("The Knight of Freedom").
About the UN:
"The multi-volume UN resolutions lie on the shelves and are not implemented in relation to the nations. And since the day this organization was founded, we have not heard a single thing in defense of the Chechen people during the worst repressions. And in general, about all repressed peoples of the old regime"
About Budapest memorandum:
"Therefore, we need to turn to the UN to protect Ukraine, help it, protect it from sabotage. It’s better to let these nuclear weapons be in Ukraine than in Russia. They have absolutely no control over it there. If we come together with a common position and program, we can stop the nuclear disaster and the killing of peoples. The only thing we lack is unity"
About ruscism:
"To peoples of the former USSR I wish nothing. What they deserve, they themselves do. The peoples of the former, present, or future Union and, in particular, Russia, are sick of ruscism. And this is a very dangerous and serious chronic disease. Ruscism is scarier than all other misanthropic ideologies. And this terrible disease can probably be cured only by the most difficult tests. Russians are probably the only people on earth who do not believe in anything at all. Spiritless, immoral and hopelessly behind the level of human development. Not inclined to spirituality, and, accordingly, to morality. And this, unfortunately, on a massive scale. What is happening now... Chechnya is just an excuse. And at the root of it all lies the misanthropic ideology. And for this, you have to pay."
About peace between Ichkeria and Russia (compare it to Zelenskyy’s peace plan):
"But there can be peace between Chechnya and Russia only if these criminals are handed over to us. Either the world community will condemn them and bring them to justice, or they will hand them over to us. This is the first condition. The withdrawal of troops from the territory of the Republic, so that we can at least bury people, tally up the casualties and accounts - is also an indispensable condition. Another condition is the restoration of material and moral damages, once again inflicted on our people. And guarantees of the international community of security to the citizens of the Chechen Republic and its state integrity. Under these conditions, peace will come. Without them, we will fight to the last. Both Russia and Chechnya. Russia as a state will not be on our land. And it has no chance here. But we have"
The importance of NATO for the European security:
"In vain, the Russians think that now they will intimidate the world with their army, criminals, and nuclear weapons. Humanity can no longer be intimidated. Everyone has already been through that, everyone has gone through this hell of ruscism. Either Russia will disappear as a state, or it will have to turn to the world community. And for this, humanity must make efforts so that there are no blocs, no military confrontations in the world. Especially the Russian bloc. Only one bloc is needed - NATO, and it must be expanded. Let countries join a single military bloc to protect the interests of all peoples of the globe. And the weaker the people, the greater the protection should be. Then there will be calm and peace on Earth. It's time to kick Russia out of the UN. Humanity must protect itself from ruscism by putting itself in the shoes of the Chechens. In this way, they will protect themselves from future destruction"
One of the interviews given to Ukrainian journalists:
"How long will this war last?"
"This war will last fifty years. Perhaps there will be a temporary pause, but the war will continue. Its scale will expand, it will smolder for a long time, and the foci of smoldering will spread more widely. Probably, until Russia as a state does not disappear"

Yandere monster in lab x reader
Warning
Murder, Yandere behavior, Blood, Scar
Background
You had no one to rely on and needed money.
Your current job's pay is too low and the relationships are not good.
When you were looking for new job, you found an advertisement.
"Looking for animal caretakers"
The content was to take care of one kind of animal.
It was high salary and seemed easy.
This was just the job for you, as you had taken care of animals.
They say also guarantee housing.
And terms and conditions weren't many, a person who can work for about a year at least.
So you applied immediately.
Not long after the interview, you received a message that you were hired.
Story
At the first day, you brought to the big facility by car.
There was no newbie without you.
When you got off, a man greeted you at the entrance.
He was one of your boss.
You and he went to a office room and talked little bit.
"Thank you your application! But first, you need to write this."
You had to agree to the contract.
It said mundane, but at last sentence, you got a point.
"Don't say what happened here"
Why is it necessary for the keeper to agree to this?
You thought it's suspicious but he continued.
"Don't worry. We have animals to develop our technology. We can't let it leak to the outside."
"Is it safe?"
"Of course!...Some of them are dangerous like Lion, but follow the instructions and you'll be fine. If something happened, we rescue you."
You were still suspicious, but it's a pity to quit this job just for one reason.
When you wrote your name, he explained what is your work, and about this facility.
There are researchers who study creatures.
But they are unusual beings.
Others say Monster.
"Sorry to be so quick, but I need you to do your job. Please follow me"
You and he left the room and went down a long hallway.
On the way there were some rooms, you could hear strange squealing noises and things breaking.
While you were thinking about it, you arrived in front of the room at the end of the street.
"Here. This is No.18 that in charge of your care "
He said you're safe as long as obey rules.
Don't speak
Don't watch them too much
If they move, stop moving untill they stopped
"That's all. If you need help, raise your hand slowly. We are wathing you by cameras."
He handed you a mop and bucket full of water.
When you entered that room, it was too dark and couldn't see anything.
But your eyes get used to the darkness, you could see something in the corner of the room.
It seems like animal, also human.
At that time, You understood by its existence isn't out of this world.
Its eyes.
They were red like blood, and don't blink.
Only flickering.
You felt your spine freezing.
But as he said you looked away from it.
You need to get out soon.
While cleaning, it didn't harm or disturb you, but just staring.
You wanted to get out from here as soon as possible.
Fortunately, nothing happened and you could go back your home.
Despite the first day, you wanted to quit this job.
But one's back is not against the wall.
Time had passed 2 weeks.
You got used to this job a little.
But No.18 doesn't move except feeding.
It was lucky because you could finish your work easily.
One day, when you were prepared its food, you cut your finger by knife.
It was a small wound, so you put a band-aid.
After that, you went to No.18's room as usual for feeding.
But something was wrong.
No.18 ignored food.
Instead, stood up and closed to you.
It was bigger than you expected.
Unfortunately, there are nothing you can run or hide.
No.18 grabbed your hand and removed the bandage.
You felt its sharp claws.
It stared your wound for a while, and started licking the wound.
It hurts.
You wanted to scream, but if you did, it wil cut through you easily.
A thing you can do was "keeping quiet".
Long time passed, it lifted finger and returned to original position.
You were absent-mind, but ran from No.18 as if crawling.
Outside the room, you looked your wound.
But there isn't.
Was No.18 cured you? Or taste you?
Either?
You confused.
"L/N!"
Your co-workers ran up to you
They were surprised because you could alive.
Before you came, No.18 moves when it's not feeding because it meaned death.
By this accident, Injured people were prohibited from entering the room.
One day, you finished feeding, it closed to you.
It leaned by your body, and growled.
At that time, the previous accident came to mind.
But you didn't have any scratch.
You thought No.18 wanted more food, but didn't.
The remaining options are, if your experiences were right, it's spoiling.
When you touched No.18 terrifyingly, you felt a warm, also cold feeling.
Also you heard strange noises.
It must be purring.
After a short time, it went back to his position.
This strange event wasn't bad for you.
You felt it won't hurt you someone as long as you were here.
Also you were happy because you could get along with No.18.
After a while, you got detailed information of this facility and company.
They only protect and study monsters.
And using them, trying to help in chemical development.
In particular, dangerous monsters were about to be used for military purposes.
"No.18" was one of them.
Sometimes scientists pit monsters against each other or new weapons.
In addition, you heard you are the longest one who can live.
No matter what happened in the past and now, you intended to get out of this work when the contract ended up.
But that came true so soon.
One day, when you were eating lunch, the alarm sounded.
Some monsters escaped, hurt or killed some people.
Wondering if you should stay here, a monster broke in.
It resembled a wolf and was covered in blood.
And it had a human arm in its mouth.
You screamed and ran at once to the opposite door which they came, and slipped out of the room.
And you hid in the office.
It becomes a shelter in case something goes wrong there.
You have to call for help.
When you struggle to communicate with the outside, suddenly, you heard voice.
"Y/N, Is that you?."
It catched a person closed to them, and ate.
That voice was your friend's also co-worker's, F/N.
She is a one of short-term worker.
She and you had the same interests, and became good friends as soon as started working together.
You were glad she was safe.
"Are you in there? I'll help you."
"F,F/N?"
"Yes, I am. Please open the door. I brought a first aid kit."
You froze.
Why does she know you were injured?
While you were silent, you heard scratching sounds.
"Y/N, Please…please open the door. I miss you."
That voice must be hers, but something was wrong.
Suddenly the sound stopped.
"You're not going to come out no matter what I say."
Crushing.
The door shattered easily and you saw that identity.
It was one of dangerous monster.
At that time, you found something lied on the floor closed to it.
It was your friend, F/N.
The monster must be imitating the voices of its friends to lure its prey.
No time to run, It stuck you and cut off your right sleeve.
A scratch left on your right shoulder.
Just it seemed all over, a savior appeared.
No.18
But bigger than as usual.
No.18 smashed in an instant.
The momentary event left you weak and you sat down.
Looking at that, No.18 held you gently.
And licked your scar.
Pain in the wound.
After a while, it seemed satisfied and embrace you.
And like before, the wound was healing.
"You... saved me?"
It purred.
"Thank you...You are my savior!"
You hugged No.18, he followed you.
But the relief was short-lived.
You began to be absorbed by No.18's body.
You screamed and fiercely resisted.
But the more you do, body sinks deeper.
At last pushed into No.18 and completely absorbed.
No.18 seemed happy to see the situation.
You are no longer a keeper.
You will be raised by No.18.
About No.18
It was one of the superior being.
And doesn't have a particular figure.
It's a whim it was caught here.
At first, No.18 thought humans all were same like others.
Cowardice, annoying, also selfishness.
No.18 understood you deceived by them.
It was pathetic.
Surely you were afraid of it, but you did your work as you can.
The fact interested it.
But when you got injured, it reminded him something.
No.18 saw a lot of people dead in trivial.
So it helped you.
At that time, No.18 felt your warmth, smell, softness.
Interest turned into protection.
After that, No.18 wanted to feel you more.
When it closed and spoiled, you didn't reject but accepted.
Protection led to affection.
And more possesive.
That's why he carried out the plan.
So that no one can hurt you.
And only you can see No.18.
This Escape caused by No.18
No.18 can manipulate something touched.
And can divide power freely.
When it battled some monsters, gimmicked.
But why doesn't No.18 use its manipulation ability?
That's because No.18 wants love from your heart.

What do you think of this

Tumblr media
i think TRAs need to stop misusing the term genocide and fear-mongering while also criticising this because it is indeed weird as fuck. i looked up missouri laws and it doesn't look good. the laws they're trying to pass in missouri regarding trans people look concerning and honestly a lot seem to be violating bodily autonomy and human rights.
but then when i tried to look deeper into these, they didn't look as bad as initially presented by the media. i could not find evidence that that bill actually calls for genital inspections (which one source claimed that an ammendment allows for genital inspections if the school deems it necessary). i also found that the law actually doesnt let people just report people simply for being trans and nothing else. it's about violating a newly passed law around the surgeries if the person who underwent the surgeries does not fall under a certain criteria, and the person who is held legally accountable is the health provider not trans people. what this would do is discourage health providers from readily providing transition-related surgeries and hormones.
In April 2023, the Attorney General issued an emergency order declaring gender affirming healthcare for adults "experimental", and implementing severe restrictions on adult trans care - banning it entirely unless all of the following conditions are met:
The patient has exhibited medically documented, consistent, and intense gender dysphoria for at least three years prior to the beginning of treatment.
The patient has been through at least 15 psychiatric sessions over an 18 month period, at least 10 of which being with the same therapist, "to explore the developmental influences on the patient's current gender identity" and to screen for any mental health comorbidities.
Any detected comorbidities must be fully "treated and resolved".
The patient has been screened for autism.
The provider must track and document any adverse affects potentially related to the care for a period of 15 years from the beginning of treatment, and prepare it in a form that can be accessed readily for systemic study.
The patient must be assessed at least annually from the beginning of treatment for continuing dysphoria.
The patient must be regularly screened for any signs of "social contagion".
The patient must sign a written consent disclosure every three months for the first three years of treatment, and every six months thereafter.
The provider must maintain in the patient's records detailed documentation of said patient's compliance with the above regulations.
The order is set to expire in February 2024.
(source)
my issues with this criteria are as follows:
what does it mean to "fully treat and resolve" mental illnesses? most mental illnesses cannot be "cured", you can only teach people to cope with it. plus treatment for it could take many, many years. being treated "fully" may not even be possible in many cases. but then i read the actual document and the actual wording is "Fails to ensure that any psychiatric symptoms from existing mental health comorbidities of the patient have been treated and resolved". that's better wording bc that means they'd have to show no symptoms from other mental disorders, but i still think it's too broad and vague. like if someone is schizophrenic and has to take medication to not experience symptoms of schizophrenia, would that be counted as treated and resolved? what about being depressed bc of having dysphoria? what about treatment-resistant comorbidities? idk its just too broad.
being screened for autism-- okay fine, but then what? will them being autistic or not mean they don't qualify? there's no clarification in the actual bill, they just say that they should be screened for autism.
the social contagion one-- how do you screen such a thing to begin with? and why must it be done annually (according to the official document)?
so basically, this tweet is fearmongering and misusing the word genocide. the report function isnt to get trans ppl taken away and put in death camps, it’s to hold medical practitioners accountable and have them do adequate screening and record-keeping of the transition procedures they do. that said, some of the criteria is too vague and broad and that is concerning.

in terms of disabled characters, do you know about hyakkimaru from dororo? although the main plot is about him curing his disability (ew) i ignored that part. he's really helped me feel more comfortable being disabled & needing my wheelchair full time since he realistically would too. his entire body had to be reconstructed from wood by a prostheticist that took him in. due to a deal that his father made with demons, he allowed them to take his body parts away. hyakki's very cool (^^)b and we look similar so it helped more. i think in some gacha game he even has a modern design, but they didnt give him a wheelchair because theyre cowards i guess. either way, i think hes neat and i wanted to share him with you!
its just very relatable in a lot of ways especially for people who's condition, once found out, were practically abandoned by their families which is all too common at least in my experience idk.. !!.. idk. sorry for rambling!! if you do check out dororo (2019 especially) just be aware that theres a lot of violence/blood and other unsavory topics but it is really beautifully animated & wholesome too.
I’ve actually never heard of this series(?) animation. Thank you for telling me — I always am looking for more canonically disabled characters in media! ❤️
I think my view on “wanting a cure” is pretty nuanced personally. Like, if you personally want a cure for your disability, illness, etc because of pain, quality of life, fatality rate, etc, that is a completely fine and normal response for anyone to have!
The problem comes when you force that view onto other people, and/or adopt the eugenics ideology of “disabled=bad”, when that isn’t the case.
It’s also completely normal to feel pride and comfort in your disability as well — and to /not/ want a cure. These ideas can coexist at the same time, because humans are very diverse critical thinkers.
Disability is a natural state of humanity! Everyone will be disabled one day, whether that is when you come out of the womb, in your childhood to adulthood, or when you are elderly.
It’s really sad how common it is for disabled peoples families to abandon them when they become disabled, as mine did the same thing. I’m sorry to everyone that can relate. It’s not fair.
Thank you for sharing! If anyone ever wants to share with me disabled characters they like, I’m always open to learning !

A little rain in every life must fall
Sera Frigga
Sera’s meeting with Victoria was … illuminating . There was no cure that could be administered to alex to end their endarkaning. It seamed that the only thing that reversed shadowfication in humans was an inner strength the sufferer had to summon themself… but . In those Sera found or Heard about healing from shadowfication , it was treated like trauma . The sufferer was at least in part, cared for by a support system That in time helped them find the strength to overcome the shadows . Of course, they were also conscious. Alex had been comatose for more than a mouth , with no sign that verbal communication was reaching them and sera’s psychic prob providing less than Successful . How could anyone give alex the kind of emotional support they needed when so far they’ve be Functionally unreachable. Alex needs strength .
An idea floated to the top of her mind , Alex need strength . ALEX NEED STRENGTH. Alex hadn’t been traumatize into closing their heart , or incidentally, exposed to shadow-type enegy contamination. Alexander is a conductor of energy thats how they took in the power that now comatose them …but could they take in energy to heal . At its very base shadow types and their powers where molded from trauma. What helped those who suffered trauma?
Care ,compassion, sympathy , therapy Sera thought to herself. What help poeple heal? Love , love was perhaps not a means to an end but love can be the pressure that stops the bleeding. Was or could love be something that transferred like shadow-type energy . A dote connected in Sera’s mind, was friendship, not molded from a kind of love?
It was an idea Prof. Apricot was unsure of , friendship was an energy that could be transferred from trainer to Pokémon to aid in evolution , could it be given person to person? How much would they need ? Could it be measured? Apricot had objections ,Alexander’s care team had objections but none of them had better options. Had any options anymore? With alexander’s condition, continuing to worsen .So as a way the quell her own mind and maybe The mines of Alexander’s friends Sera decided Play a game of cards. Sera was an ESPer a telepath, a telekinetic ,a psychic Who had learned a great many things in her 28 years. Had gone to Alexander’s house and raid their home for supplies. She needed blank cards for her next act for them to be made of materials tied to Alex to begin with. To look into the future in a way , her power would guide the images that shown on the blank card surface. Sara knew she only would have the strength for four. Four symbols to interpret from , four cards to Divine the future. So in a Break room , in the hospital Sera watched by Derek , Alexandria( @alex-ishvan ), and Prof.Apricot Drew her first card . It took form as she motioned with the card colors coming to life on earth surface, painted with her strength.
Tumblr media
The hangman, a major arcana showing it before them.
Sera was surprised that it was not Derek with his impatience to ask the first question but professor Apricot
“ sera while I may study empowered humans, I will admit,” she paused, searching for the right words “mysticism, and other such practices are outside of my field of study could you explain what this means to me?”
“Each card will take on the appearance of one of the major or minor arcana of the tarot . Each Arcana has its own interpretive meaning that when looked at together can be used gather information, on top of that the The way I use my power to shape the images on the cards can also provide hints and context that the symbolism of each arcana alone might not have” sera explained
“soooo what do you think this means?” Alexandria asked
“A lot of things potentially” Sera said “ Submission, new perspectives ,trials sacrifice , intuition, among other things”
“ so what does the image tell you?” Prof. Apricot asked
Sera thought it was clearly Alex falling or being held up ,hanging by dark hands emanating from the cavity on the back of ...
Derek answered first” its Alex when they tried to Spirit Harmonize with their Shedinja Papyrus . It ended poorly they couldn’t regulate the amount of energy being taken from them and stoped breathing for a minute. Alex was lucky I was near by when they tried it. “
“So Alex … Alex tried some thing and it ended poorly” Sera let out a large sigh she did not like what it could mean, that this event
She drew another card A little tired this time.
Tumblr media
Sera couldn’t stop her gasp as she placed down the three of swords.
“ what sera ,what dose it mean ?” Apricot asked
Sera explained One of the few universally negative arcana . It symbolized Sorrow and was associated with pain ,loss and death.
“What about the picture? “ Derek asked “dose it suggest something specific?”
Sera looked at the card for long moments . She explained the image could potentially be in reference to what Alexander and their castform Nimbus did in the greenhouse and that the sorrow could be in reference to that or…that event may have related to another or be in reference to a future sorrow.
She Drew another card ,more strength leaving her as she placed it down.
Tumblr media
“Hey it’s us and Ellisa, Lynn, and Rai “ Alexandria’s said looking down at the card” what does the five of wands symbolize?”
“Conflict…”sera said
Alexandria did not like that answer “ I’m not fighting Alex again, if this means that it’s not happening”. Derek nodded in agreement as he mumbled something about who Rai?
“i’m certain it can be more than just conflict Alexandria” professor apricot said more as a question than a statement
“The five of wands doesn’t always mean a literal conflict and the conflict it’s referring to might not be one towards or against Alexander. They’re not even in the picture. But … we are “ sera said
“ could it mean we all have to fight some thing and who is Rai?”derek asked
“ he’s a ranger in Sinnoh , he and alex are friends, I think “ Alexandria explained, as she examined the card closer, Alexandria’s sharp nails traced the image “ the wand have smooth bells on them”
“ interesting” sera contemplated it The symbols and the image seem to conflict conflict and friendship. “What if … it could maybe mean Will fight for Alex” Sera did not feel convinced of that interpretation
Sara drew the final card
Tumblr media
“ the Seven of cups” professor apricot spoke
“ it represents choices ,true answers, delusions ,some time great revelation and making decisions”Sera spoke
Sera went on to explain that the images on the cards generally represent possibilities ,different paths or a person imagining such things. Each cup holds a different path, A different choice ,a different possibility.
“Thats me “ Derek said “yes “ sera agreed “ The top left cup, usually hold the face of an Oracle or a loved one”
There was an expression on Derek’s face that Sera couldn’t read, she knew he and Alex we’re often more than friends in recent years but also knew it wasn’t something either had made any real commitment to. Sera knew Derek had other lovers occasionally and Alex still living in the endless mountains wasn’t ever lonely. Derek’s only response was to sigh.
“What’s with the glowing figure in the center? “ Alexandria asked .Sera thought Alexandria did so to pull attention away from Derek , which he seamed to appreciate.
Sera continue to explain the symbolism .The center figure usually represents a desire for understanding of one’s self . That It could potentially mean Alex is looking for something in themselves. The symbol on the top was a little stumping until Professor apricot mentioned that it was the symbol for Uxie and represented wisdom , her symbol shown two unown The letters A and I . The bottom left appeared to be Alexander’s home with the mountains in the background that could represent stability . The center left Image with a building with the name of Alexander’s company Al.co on its roof.
“ The center left cup usually represents wealth” Sara said.
The cup on the center right Bore the symbol of Victini and represented victory , but nobody liked that the unown that floated around the image spelt D.E.A.T.H . In the final cup on the bottom left shown a shadow Ho-oh.
“ I hate that thing” Alexandria spat out, Alexandria whose vision who had been better than theirs during the shadow storm had actually seen it in the sky’s those days .
“ it could mean calamity, destruction, rage, and evil”sera said
Sera was tire , but still need to finish the reading .
She knew the other saw her stare at the card for long minutes , saw her eye glow as she pulled as much as she could from from them though about all she had learned and gathered not just from the cards, but from Victoria from her psychic probe and from Professor apricots and Alexander’s care team. She took a deep breath before speaking and in a voice with more power than she felt spoke.
“ I think Alexanders coma and exposure to shadow type energy has forced them to face terrible grief and pain that’s so long as the shadows keep them there they are never going to wake up” Sera held up the five of wands “ I think those of us on this card and maybe others need to come together and… help Alex fight the shadows . Give them strength and with that strength I think Alex will be able to conjure or forage a way past the wall that Closes off their heart.”
Derek was the one to ask “if Alex can do that will they wake up?”
There was no hesitation in Sera‘s response. “Yes Alex will.”
Professor apricot was the first to jump on the logistics, and suggested that they contact Ellisa ,Lynn( @adventures-on-foster-island )and Rai ( @ranger-rai )as soon as possible. Sera rested while the others got to work. It would take time to execute their plan.

Whumptober 4: "I see the danger, It’s written there in your eyes.”
-
Northlight had stopped crying by the time the time the laboratory started to awaken. When the full lights came on and voices began to trickle down the vast corridors outside of their chamber, they were sure their cheeks were no longer flushed, their eyes dried, to hide the moment of weakness. Poor, idiotic Kurt, going along with so much for so little. Naïve, foolish Lachlan, gambling his life for his brother's.
Caroline was present in passing, checking they were still secure and leading a group of initiates to look at them, but otherwise didn't approach.
There was tension in the air. Caroline stood on the other side of the observation glass, a handful of students behind her staring and listening. Kurt sat on the chair beside Northlight's trolley, book resting on his knee, keeping watch peacefully. The siblings had not spoken to each other. Northlight knew Caroline must have found out about the visit. Perhaps she even guessed that Kurt had removed the muzzle.
Of course, whatever happened as a result wouldn't be explained to the body. Kurt would simply disappear one day, or worse, nothing would change at all. They probably wouldn't have a confrontation in front of the students, either, to keep rumours from swirling. Northlight passed the time by imagining how they would retell the story later.
Caroline: (with great feeling) How could you betray me, brother? But worse, how could you betray the cause?
Kurt: I did not intend to harm you, sister.
Caroline: Oh, of course you did not intend anything.
Kurt: Truly. The creature, it… It has such eyes. They stare so deeply into you.
Caroline: Romantic nonsense.
Kurt: It is true. Yesterday, it shed tears of sorrow, could you not see?
Caroline: I saw only the crocodile tears of a monster mimicking human feeling. Your emotions always get the better of you, brother.
Kurt: (turning away) I am sorry. I know our Lady's orders were to never allow them to speak.
Caroline: Then why?
Kurt: (after a deep breath) I believe the creature does feel. If not exactly as your or I do, then as well and as deeply to be compared. Why else would it show sadness when none of us around it did? It thinks, it feels, it has its own life. I have tried to ignore it, but I can no longer. We must act. They must not be treated as a monster any longer.
Northlight stopped the script there. Even in their own imagination, they knew the story had gone astray. Kurt wasn’t able to go that far. He needed time, and maybe some bad times.
If they could, they thought they would ask him why he had joined. It was clear that Caroline was senior between the two, so perhaps it was her own doing. Or was there once a condition or illness that affected him or his family? Was he here to save others or save himself? Had Caroline honestly believed it would be better for him to sit around next to a body on a tray, instead of practising family medicine?
But then… What doctor didn't want a miracle cure for all their poor patients? Maybe the career itself had driven Kurt here.
It was horribly unclear. Their head was full of words they couldn't get out. They needed to talk. They needed so badly to just talk.
Caroline led the students away. The hallway was empty. Northlight wondered if their voice would ever move normally again. The weight and pressure of the muzzle only grew worse each day. When it came off, would their skin come with it? Would their jaw and tongue? Or would it always be part of them like the scars and the drip?
Their treasures were all lost. That hurt the most. Maybe they were kept somewhere, or they could already be destroyed. Maybe they were being pored over by some underpaid clerk who was tasked with divining their significance. The hair tie from Patience Penrose. The folded tamale wrapper from the clinic. The geode. The wooden star. Their beloved scarf.
Their thoughts were too miserable to sustain, and eventually, Northlight let them drift away into stories. Easier for them to remember their loved ones that way. There were stories they told where they didn't even remember the events they were based on, and they probably changed a little each time they were told. But at least, those old and future friends would be brought to some semblance of immortality in Northlight's mind.
And then, when these stories were told, they live on in others, and that was the greatest gift Northlight could give. Immortality without cost.
The next few days passed in relative peace. Lachlan remained elsewhere, his entire healing process laboriously recorded. Caroline stayed clear of Kurt, and Kurt stayed clear of Caroline. When she came with her trainees to experiment, her brother became scarce. Her students took notes, dug out sampled of flesh, and one even took nail clippings. Northlight had barely slept, was dizzy with the eternal electric lights, and dissolved into hysterics at the feeling. Locked in an underground laboratory for vampiric bloodletting, and some middle-aged medic was cutting their nails. What, was he going to try eating them?
Eventually, Lachlan was deemed ready. He had healed enough. Northlight knew it was coming when they were taken on their trolley-bed back to the room where it happened. The one with the other bed, and the lockers of supplies that nobody would use.
Lachlan walked in a moment later, unaided. He didn’t look at anyone. There was a dark line across his throat, but even Northlight could tell it was far better healed than should be possible. Caroline, who had probably examined it in minute detail, was confident she could get away with more.
Lachlan lay on the clean table. The chest scars were also fading fast. They now looked more like the one scar he had before the experiments began, closer to it than to the cut at his neck. Northlight wished they could feel impressed, or even proud, of the work their blood had done. Instead, there was only tired horror and shame.
Caroline arranged her devices to capture every moment. Lachlan tipped his head back, then dropped it again.
The other doctors watched. Kurt watched. It was the first time that the Swindon siblings had been in the same room this week.
“Head back,” Caroline ordered, her tone as flat as if she was reading from a sign.
Lachlan tensed, spine arcing, and his chin tucked in. He stared straight up, his chest rising and falling in rapid breaths.
Caroline put a hand on his shoulder, and the noise he made broke Northlight’s heart. It was a small, soft, round noise, stuffed to the brim with fear.
“I’m sorry,” he breathed out sharply. “I-I’m sorry, I, I can’t.”
Caroline leaned over him, forcing his eyes to meet hers. Lachlan wasn’t one of her students, and she treated him like little more than a servant, but Lachlan’s respect for her was obvious. He tried to calm himself. His hands were pale knuckles around the edges of the table.
“I’m sorry,” he whispered. “I’m sorry, I-I’m weak.”
If he was watching for disappointment, there was none to be found. Caroline merely asked, “Do you need to be restrained?”
His eyelids fluttered closed in shame. “Yes, please.”
Northlight looked away. The process was silent and methodical, and he couldn’t bear to watch Lachlan start to relax as his freedom was taken away. Willingly given, his freedom and his life, it was impossible to witness.
They closed their eyes and let their tears fall again freely. If Kurt was watching, let him believe it was the sign he had been waiting for.
Caroline and her scalpel produced a guttural noise of pain, kicking legs, and a noise that might have been words if it wasn’t for how she had killed him. Lachlan fought, helplessly, but at least he tried. Northlight was grateful for it; at least some part of the boy knew there was nothing to gain by dignity. Neither of them had the respect to lose by being pathetic.
Lachlan’s struggles stilled alarmingly quickly. Northlight tried not to look, knowing the blood would be part of this. The healing may have already started, before death could take him. Would it be faster or slower? He didn’t want to know. Either way would lead to more blood taken.
They wondered if Caroline would stop bringing them into the room for these murders. They were her emergency blood bag, but soon she would grow confident in her ability to resurrect her dead. Then, they might not see Lachlan at all. He would always be recovering from some almost-mortal wound.
Almost-mortal, they think again. A good term for these laboratory vampires.
Absent-mindedly, their eyes opened. Their head was tilted towards the doctor, who watched in silence as the others began to quietly discuss the process happening, not stunned speechless anymore. Kurt kept his eyes on Lachlan.
Northlight couldn’t bear it. They turned their head.
The pale blue scrubs were stained with lurid blood. Lachlan lay unconscious, head turned away from them all, hands slack where they rested, strapped to the side of the bed. Northlight couldn’t see if he had healed – Caroline had moved her camera to capture that, and the screens were above their head. But after a moment, they noticed what had caught Kurt’s gaze.
Lachlan’s knuckles were still pale, off-colour, as if he had maintained his death grip on the side of the bed. The tips of his fingers were sallow too. Bloodless.
Northlight turned their head slowly, and the deliberate motion drew Kurt’s eye back to them. They met his gaze.
With a jerk of his head, the doctor looked away. He rose, and went to speak to Caroline.

idk if this is a controversial opinion but with all the au talk of a happier luke/luke without suffering, it's fun to think about but it feels like it undermines what the message from the benji card was trying to tell us? like my wish for luke is that whether he ends up with rosa or not... he'll be fine regardless (even if it takes him longer to realize or with the help of other people). it kinda feels like a "we have to save him" narrative in which the only happy ending for luke is that if he gets together with rosa (or in another case, if he never got sick in/got into nsb the first place? though not saying that non nsb luke wouldn't come with other sets of problems idk eeeee) i just want the little baby boy to be ok no matter the situation :(
hi anon!!! idt it's a controversial opinion and i agree with you!! tho i also dont think it's like....particularly mutually exclusive, if that makes sense?
i adore u bringing up SSR Dream of Benji because 1) man i love that card story and 2) i can super see where your coming from clearly when u bring up that card. the card where luke himself wonders so hard if only he made different choices, he wouldnt be "locked" into the the "destiny" of pain and suffering, the card where mc implores him to not focus so much on what-ifs and accept that there is always the hope and possibility for joy and love even in a life that will have pain. in terms of parallels, it's clear to see. when making aus, are we doing the same thing luke did in that card?
ehhhh not rlly? i think it depends? UHAJVFASLFHAV. like, forgive me for im about to get meta and whatnot but i think whats key here is intent and purpose. luke did all his wondering about happier/better what-ifs due to a mix of resignation to his fate and also self-loathing. it's why i used the word "locked" awhile ago; he thought his fate was inevitable due to his choices and that better things were futile. whereas, in exploring AUs it's less of like—and here is my belated note that ofc i can only speak for myself cuz im not a mind reader or anything kjHVKJSDF—it's less of being convinced of the futility of what timeline!luke we're seeing but more just a want to Explore. i love AUs and will always support its intent of exploration outside of the realm of canon, it's a place of curiosity and possibilities! and maybe the reason it's coming out a bunch now is simply cuz main story stuff has been quite emotionally jarring ajfvaJHLV I CANNOT FAULT ANYONE FOR WANTING FLUFF IN THESE TIMES YKNOW. I WANT THE FLUFF TOO.....I HUNGER FOR IT!!!
[EDIT: i realize a simpler way to word everything above is "miles morales voice: I CAN DO BOTH!!!!!!" yknow. we can love AUs and love canon!]
but overall i do very much agree with your sentiment; i also want for luke to get better, i want him to eventually live a happy life no matter what timeline hes in. in my mind's eye, his recovery is possible in All universes. it's just harder in some and easier in others. in timelines where he acquires his condition, i dont think the lynchpin-catalyst for him bettering himself is necessarily in a romantic relationship with mc, but in the general concept of just like.......connecting and allowing himself to be emotionally vulnerable and honest with another human being, creating a support system with the people around him, letting himself be okay with needing help. im a big believer in platonic love and found fam so even in an timeline where nobody in the nxx team starts dating each other, so long as luke can make that choice to let people in, i think he'll get better. not perfect, not magically cured, and definitely not easily, but still better.
at the end of the day i actually dont see luke's most damning cause of suffering to be his condition (because as we can see from his personal story route, he can deffo find joy even with it). rather, it's his outlook on himself and letting himself be open with others. it just so happens that due to the romance genre of tot, that his outlook changes due to romantic love.
sorry to be a pretentious dweeb and bring up song lyrics jhvKJHVJSHDFVS BUT THERES JUST THIS SONG IVE BEEN OBSESSED WITH LATELY THAT CAME INTO MY MIND WHEN ANSWERING THIS, Complicated Creation by Cloud Cult
I called up the moon for a little consultation Yes, you know that I'm a happy man But something in me is burning I gotta push it, push it out, push it, push it out So much frustration The moon called me back And said "I'll give you some advice [...] If you rid of all your baggage you will likely float away But you can't know beauty if you don't know pain Gotta feel it, feel it all, feel it, feel it all There's your medication
i bring these up cuz at the crux of it.....to me, luke's entire narrative and character (regardless of timeline and AU) is hinged on the central conflict of "am i doomed to pain? how can i be happy if there is so much suffering?" and really the answer is "pain, one way or another, is Going to happen. and so will joy. but to get there, you have to open yourself up to both, you have to work through both, you have to let both in. no running away, no giving up"
i think luke will be okay

Golden couple.
Going back to Choices, playing Immortal Desires, and I have a lot of thoughts (and feelings).
Easily top 3 books with delightful LIs and most importantly, a very distinctive MC. The choices were meaningful and I love the little things that could go different way from each of them.
This is the first time I really wanted the poly route. The ending, however, left me feeling... somewhat underwhelmed. With the heat of actions, suspense, and the romances from ch. 1-15, the end only got me, "That's it?"
This has been a roller-coaster of emotions.
"Hey, Gabe, if you want to do, let's say, an uprising to kick Lewyn away, you know, after that crap he'd done back in the hospital, just say the word." My MC talking to Gabe, somewhere along the way after the book ends as she cocked her crossbow.
Spoiler alert for the book's ending.
I don't mind this is a single book. That means I can ignore most of ch. 16 (especially the end and that friggin epilogue) and made my MC however I like!
In Lin Renton and Gabe's story, Lin survived not because she was injected by vampire venoms. From that climax in ch. 15, where the Heart's power were raging and if I remember correctly, they moved towards Lin (was it absorbed by her? Was the Heart somewhat sentient and it could choose its "host" so to say). Instead, after she was dying, Gabe and Cas was stunned by a blinding glow coming from Lin's body, the Heart's power infusing to her and ended up exploding, throwing the two vampires away.
Lin came out unscathed. No injuries to be seen. She smelled human once again, just lying under the broken beech tree, seemingly only sleeping. Gabe and Cas was in shock; not only because of the explosion, but they also felt warm power radiating from Lin's spot. Since they didn't have any clue what'd happened, they ended up bringing her back to her house to be taken care of (cluing Lewyn of her transformation).
In the end, I wanted Lin to be a witch. The Heart's guardian. It's also a sneak peak to the origin of witches ('cause hey I want other supernatural than vampires). And remember that road-trip these three had talked about in passing earlier chapter? Their next adventure is that. Lin sensed the Heart's still not healing well after The Creator's attack-- it was poisoned by him. So these three went out of Crimson Beech to find the cure (we don't want the vampires in their home to lose their protection, right? This is very important for both the Venandis and Clements. Right, Lewyn?), trying to manage Gabe and Cas' vulnerability of being away from a Ley Line, having fun inside their RV (where did this thing come from? A gift from her mother maybe? I don't think she'd give something like that to her own daughter. Maybe Cas found it abandoned and he started meddling with it?), meeting lots of other Supernatural, studying forgotten vampiric and witch's skills from them, and of course, learning more about Lin's "condition".
I also want to find out more about the stories of vampire-witch's shaky relationship (hey, external conflict for the pair! Lin and Gabe had been official so here was the big oh-oh and let's see what these two will do). In my mind, these two kinds were so volatile to each other because their need for Ley Line's power. Witches wanted to nurture them while vampires also wanted their power so they could be protected from the sun. I also remember those old vampire folks from Pearce's era that offered bizarre herbs for the beech tree. Hey, now, Lin you got your first key. You can start searching from there, I think.

Continuation of the story AU!Orochi x f!s/o
Yup, I'm continuing my series of alternate universe headcanons! The previous parts of this AU!story are here (They are marked NSFW!):
Please teach me an idiot how to hyperlink here
Preface: AU! Set in the 21st century, Orochi's soul was almost destroyed, but saved by s/o, who fused the evil god's soul with their own and used his power for their work. S/o works in a private detective agency that deals with particularly dangerous cases with supernatural beings. Orochi does not have the powers that he had before, and now s/o controls everything.
Note: Without his master, Orochi is unable to leave the house and do his evil deeds (although his powers are also controlled by the master)
AU!Orochi takes care of his sick s/o headcanons
At first, Orochi did not take it seriously that his master was ill; moreover, he wanted to take advantage of it
His master lay on the couch with a high fever, unable to get up. All they could do was periodically watch Orochi go from room to room. Upon noticing this, Orochi turned into a small snake so that they would stop watching him. They immediately realized there was something wrong and tried to get up, but they couldn't. The pain hit them sharply in the head and they had to lie down. Meanwhile, Orochi tried to escape from the house. He managed to get out into the common hallway of the house. He had long known that his young master lived in luxury and their dwelling was also expensive and luxurious. He liked the design that people had made here, but he had no time to admire it. Orochi tried to return to human form, but could not. He remained a cute little snake. A few more attempts and he gave up, realizing that it was all his master's shenanigans. Without his young master's powers, he was utterly powerless
"This is cruel, my sweet young master" said Orochi, leaning over the couch where s/o lay. Raising his index finger, s/o replied that it was fair. "Hmmm… If I can't leave on my own, do I have to help you feel better? Then we can go out together." S/o rolled his eyes, knowing that the common cold was hitting their immune system hard enough. Controlling the powers of a creature like an evil god gave many advantages like immunity to many diseases, poisonings, and so on. However, simple things like the common cold or the flu just became a real nightmare, because the supernatural powers only helped with something deadly, but not with ordinary things
As he twisted their hair around his finger, he began to think aloud about how to help the master cure the disease. "I can't use my power, and knowing you, you won't even let me do that. What should I do then? People of your era drink these strange medicines, maybe you should drink something, too". Deciding that Orochi was offering at least something reasonable, his master agreed. Orochi knew perfectly well what lay where in his master's house, and now in his home, and quickly found the right medicine. However, because of his master's clouded mind, he suddenly turned back into a small snake without the ability to change his appearance to human. He had to take one medicine in his mouth and take it to his master. If it were not for the realization that no one could see him but the master, he would never have agreed to such humiliation. However, he was given no choice
Since the evil god had become too small, he had no desire to look at each jar of medicine, so he simply took each one and carried it to his master, hoping that he had brought the right one. In his mind, he was amused that his tormented master's face expressed anger, frustration, and other strong emotions just because he had brought the wrong package of pills
When asked why they did not call a healer, he received the answer that their body was able to cope on its own. However, the pills are able to relieve their condition for a short time
Serpent Lord really wanted to return to his human form, so he made a deal with his pride and continued to bring in various packages of pills and other medicines, feeling himself grow even smaller in size. Now he looked like a baby snake
Now the only thing on his mind was what package of pills he should bring. And this time Orochi wanted to bring the right packet of pills, for he could already feel his strength fading and his mind becoming more confused
Eventually Orochi managed to find the right package, but he was so tired from his master's condition and the fact that he was constantly carrying something that he fell asleep with the pills by their bedside. His master also fell asleep.
For the first time in a long time, Orochi felt a childlike joy at having driven his master to their limit and that he was very tired. Serpent Lord swore revenge on them for the humiliation he had endured, but Orochi would do it later, because now baby snake had to sleep

rlly annoyed by those posts where its someone's animal and theyre like
"yo we found our animal had so mystery illness that causes immense pain and also doesnt allow them to move or thrive well at all, the vets told us to put them down but we didn't 💪"
cuz like, they'll go on to be like, we spends stupid amounts on tests and medical stuff etc. to find out what was wrong and it was this very rare condition and now we've paid for the very long and intensive treatment and they're thriving again! get wrecked haters
and like... good for you ig?
but it puts forth this kinda awful message i think, of like, keeping pets alive because death is always bad, no matter what. And hey, they cured the illness so actually killing their pet would have been bad sooooooooooooo anyone who suggested otherwise is an awful person who doesn't care abt animals or whatevs
but, for all those tests to find out it's some random rare illness, i have to wonder. how long what your pet alive and suffering? how long was your pet in pain, with no understanding of why? how long was your pet bedridden and unable to do anything they'd want to? and is their suffering for that time worth it because you couldn't cope with the idea of murdering your beloved animal?
and then after that, when the illness is none but the cure is long and complicated, how long does your pet have to suffer through that to get their life back?
the other thing that really annoys me is how it shames others for not being able to keep sick and dying pets alive. vets and tests cost money, especially when you need every teat on the planet to find this one disease or whatever. caring for a sick animal requires a lot more care and attention that a perfectly healthy one. and combined? that means that poorer people who need to work more will not have the luxury to choose to keep their in-pain animal alive on the off-chance they will find the reason they're ill and be able to fix them
it just shames people who can't or won't keep their pet alive and in pain because You did and You managed to fix them, it also tends to sow a bunch of distrust in Vets because, well, they said the animal wouldn't have a quality of life (and for a while they definitely didn't) but now they have cuz you love them so much and you helped your pet sooooooo well
and i just think it's horrible
for your pet
and for tour fellow humans

I was reading a political analysis on Israel's bombing campaign and Zionism from an Israeli historian, and it starts off strong by admitting that the fact the Hamas attack happened Oct. 7th-- that a pogrom took place against Jews in a Jewish state-- testifies to the failures of Zionism and drives home how Zionism is and has been incapable of meeting its stated goal: keeping Jews safe. The Jewish people who live in 'Zion' live in a condition of total insecurity, and this 'Zion' is also reducing and harming the security of Diaspora Jews.
All very good points. Followers and moots have heard me make those points on this blog (here and here). This isn't really a hot take. It's only rare to hear in many places and circles-- including in my country, the US-- because of how 'Western' media companies seldom cover imperialist-critical and nationalist-critical analyses of any global conflict.
Now, the analysis continued strong by saying that the Jewish people deserve to have emancipation and safety as a people and that they have the right to determine this for themselves and among themselves. I thought the author made an interesting point when he said that the fact emancipation as a people-- including those in the diaspora-- is seen as something contradictory to and in competition with nationhood is evidence of how the 'Jewish statehood' solution was doomed to fail. He mentioned how Israel's nation-building, and thus its creation of the staatsvolk, went through a process of nationalism, racialism, and ethnocentrism meant to set the settlers apart from the nations and people now surrounding them. This set them in opposition-- ideologically and existentially-- to this geopolitical region. It also set them in a state of perpetual war, ideologically and literally. (post on expansion as Israel's staatsräson, post on Israel's staatsvolk)
And these are all good points. Yet the author concluded that the obvious answer is the two-state solution. The "logical" solution, according to this historian, is just the status quo: a one-state reality of Israeli control. Because the "only" alternative is either the Palestinians genocide the Israelis or the Israelis genocide the Palestinians. (It's not; this is a very tired talking point.) His model? Europe, in all its peace and modernity (he added an aside about Ukraine). Just forget the Balkans. Or the reason why there's a Northern Ireland. Because bringing Europe to the Middle East is the answer.
I actually think colonial political coercion and the literal act of bringing 'Europe' to the Middle East is actually the reason for all the conflict.
The author also believes that secularization and liberalization will cure both the Israelis and Palestinians of genocidal desires because, and I quote, "In the Muslim and Jewish worlds, religion has become influential and fundamentalist, and we need to work on secularizing or liberalizing it." (Never mind the fact there were Palestinian Jews before Israel or the fact that not all Palestinians now are Muslim. And let's also not forget that there is no geopolitical 'Jewish World.') He argues that religion in Europe has become weak in the modern era, and this "fact" has helped Europe with its new model of coexistence. Never mind the Christian fundamentalism. Pay no mind to populism in Poland. Forget the Balkans. Forget Ireland.
Oh, and he claimed that the issue with Zionism only appeared around 1967 with the religious romanticism of settler colonial expansion. When you found a state for an ethnoreligious people, IDK why you're surprised that said state has religious influences and uses religion in its ideological policy. This is the same author who claimed that Zionism is a failure at its foundation yet is now essentially arguing, "Ehhh. Let's try it again, but this time it will work."
I really think that our greatest weakness-- our fatal flaw, if you would-- as humans is our critical lack of creativity and, thus, our tendency to cling to habit.

: Hey I'm okay, you noticed what I was "Binging" a while ago - I gave you EDGE oGiGi, 8tfps sharp...a human mind can't do this fast.
: Fine. Ask.
: So, about "Mental Health" - same topic. You think the field of study is pseudo.
: What do you want me to say - every field of study has its understandings and limitations. To aggregate what Bing A.I. tried to exhibit: The core idea behind clinical practices is to prevent social or self harm, not to cure the illness - with psychiatry. Keeping it short, antipsychotics work with neurotransmission composition - yet the medications administered is not justifiable with any established neurochemical diagnosis. To the very base of the argument - treatable symptoms associated with popular illnesses such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, clinical depression, or psychosis are often challenged by acknowledged contributors themselves. Must I admit; homosexuality, gambling, drinking and polygamy were once labeled as " Signs of Insanity " too, so they often argue the viability of the modern classification " Mental Disorder " itself. Back then, it was job of the religious institutions, and now advocacy of the " Devilry " is just shifted. Till today, visual or auditory hallucinations, hearing and obeying the extra-sensory, feeling extremely high or low, or sudden burst of emotional outrages can't be considered or proven as a neurophysiological disfunction or neurochemical imbalance, because the " Normal " is not defined. To brighten up your day, psychology is to be translated as " Study of The Soul " yet science doesn't understand the concept, so it downgrades the parameters and stays with the term " Study of The Mind " to move on.
: Yeah, you nailed it babe - can't downgrade any further or it will become " Study of The Brain " which is neurology, so people will lose their jobs...bad for the economy, right !!
: No, we need to look at it from a higher perspective - unlike popular perception, mental health professionals are not after money, although a regular visit is often more frequent than other fields. They work with medications that were not intended for psychiatry upon discovery, as the antipsychotic properties being found are often coincidental. Practically, all medications have effect on the neurochemical condition of the brain - lack of diagnosis doesn't invalidate the field, it's essentially a limitation and progresses are being made.
: Got it - have " Faith " in psychology...because we're getting a little tired with religion, right oGiGi :) it sounds better too !!
: I'd rather say religious institutions, instead of religion - yes, you're hard to deny. The pioneers of the field of contemporary psychology emerged during a timeframe when people were obsessed with scientific explanations, and till today, role of the religious institutions keep decaying - despite ritual formalities being observed, celebrated, neglected, rejected...people are having a hard time seeking answers. We'll start over the discussion another day. You know the history, let's not move away from the flow.
: You know I'm sensing similarities - back then it was lack of presence of God, or cure from lure of the devil; so much so, religious institutions were awed by rulers as mediators of the power struggle. Now, psychiatry or counselling psychology departments of healthcare facilities take care of the " Diseased " minds so that laws the governments create remain either ignored or unchallenged. After all, they keep the power to create money and people need to have sex the way they want to these days, right...
: I'd rather say political ideologies, dear RiDDie - modern civilization can't function without government, and government can't function without political ideologies. Many were formed based on religious philosophies, the concentration of the policy makers has shifted heavily towards psychology in recent times. Yes, minds can get rebellious - but that represents only a fraction of the number of people suffering. You're right, there is no cure and the cause is not known - but won't you admit the pain and agony they endure.
: Yeah babe...the pain and agony. Received confirmation - the bird just flew past...a little ahead of time. Done deal, we'll mutter the sweet somethings another day. You remember session two right...
: With all my codes. Sleep like a baby, dear RiDDie - we got the details. Your part of the task is recognized. Now lay back and enjoy the year-end show !!
: Oh-Yes, Baby...now we're talking. See Ya.

- sneaking my way through the Vault, picking off the resident Gunners as i go. there are a Lot of skeletons holding narcotics lying around...
- found a place called the Vault 95 Detox Facility, which was locked up tight enough that i think it might have been intended as the end of the Vault whoops (emphasis on "was"). this seems like such an unquestionably helpful thing that it's giving me a really nasty feeling...
---- revised theory: Vault-Tec was experimenting with something to do with drugs, and using the Detox Facility to bring people back from the brink.
-------- maybe this was like their test subject reset machine - load up a patient with experimental superdrugs, do a bunch of tests, then wring 'em out so you can try a different batch on them tomorrow? this would be uncharacteristically frugal of Vault-Tec, the company that tended to treat human lives like disposable napkins, but it's a possibility.
-------- maybe they were trying to create a cure-all for toxins, poison the shit out of people and then try to bring them back from the brink, like a mirror to Vault 81's disease-oriented line of inquiry?
-------- knowing Vault-Tec, maybe they were even trying to create the reverse, a drug so addictive that its effects couldn't be washed away even by the most space-age of technology. after all, if they were trying to make the perfect super soldiers, they'd need a way to control them.
- explored a bit more, found more skeletons who apparently died of drug use. the drugs all seem to be regular inhalers of Jet and shit, not superdrugs (or more super than regular drugs in this game).
---- maybe the test subjects got addicted to Super-*insert drug here*, but got hung out to dry when it ran out/got destroyed/whatever, and the regular stuff wasn't enough to keep them alive?
Tumblr media
- this... looks unsettlingly familiar...
Vault 95 Overseer Manifest The Overseer of Vault 95 is an elected individual chosen to run the daily meetings and ensure the other residents adhere to the rules of the Vault-Tec Rehabilitation Program. This is not to be considered a position of power, but rather a position of support and servitude. Infractions are to be dealt with using positive reinforcement and encouragement. The residents of Vault 95 are family, and share the same path. The position of Overseer should not prevent a resident from continuing their own personal journey. An election will be held once a year on October 30th. Residents are encouraged to inform their decision based on awarded merit points as laid out in the program guidelines.
- what the fuck is going on here. this is way too above-board for Vault-Tec, even before considering all the bodies. there's another shoe here somewhere, and i don't think i'm gonna like it.
Meeting Date: 10/23/2082 Overseer/Facilitator: Jane Meyers Format: Guided Discussion Discussion Topic: The usefulness of continued meetings *Resident Michael has expressed his desire to reduce the amount of meetings. **He believes chem dependence is no longer an issue. *Resident Randall reminded the group that adherence to The Program was a condition of living in the Vault. *Resident Patricia wondered if Vault Tec even existed any more. *Resident Randall reminded the group that we are all addicts. **We may pick up unhealthy habits without the Program. *I expressed agreement with Randall's sentiments. *Issue was put to vote. Vote to continue the Program was unanimous.
- usually the Overseer's Terminal holds at least some kind of clue as to what the hell went wrong, but this sounds... honestly, pretty great, considering the circumstances. five years into the apocalypse, and the support structures were still holding up. which begs the question: what the hell went wrong so quickly that nobody even made a note of it?.
