#this is a rant #x #this has been the worst academic year for me ever lmao i need it to end so badly #just submitted an assignment that is sooo bad I cringe just thinking about it #and ofc I turned it in late. it was the stupidest thing ever but i still managed to do bad #i try to reassure myself with words like yeah! it’s ok this is just not your strength! you’re good at something else! #but even then i feel like im lying to myself #procrastination is my worst enemy and it Killed me this year lol #I barely got anything done completely. did little to no homework #i guess that explains why even when I study for a test the night before #i still dont get a good grade #anyway idk i like to think that if i had done at least half of the homework and daily studying that i should’ve done I would be in a better #position. that I would get academic validation #it’s almost over anyways but I’ll try and do everything i can for my finals. and then im free #and im gonna do better in general for next year #felt good to let that out <3

i was finally able to have the house to myself for a bit today... brought all my dirty dishes out of my room and was able to tidy up a little bit without feeling weird

#by tidy up i mean put my dirty clothes into a hamper and my clean clothes onto the floor so i can reclaim my bed #i dont know why i feel so stressed taking dirty dishes out of my room with other ppl around #im self conscious. i think because my mom would get mad if she saw me doing it #and that leads to bad eating (not being able to eat) etc. #i took rlly poor care of myself this week.... but it felt like it just didnt slow down #i was barely able to feed myself cause there was just no time for grocery shopping #and i STILL need to grade tomorrow #bc thr fucking. kids. are so stupid. using chatgpt and making my head hurt #i cant wait to grocery shop tomorrow #i might try and get up early for it so theres no one around but we'll see #me saying 'i cant wait to grocery shop' u know its bad when i HATE grocery shopping #but this evening was wonderful... after a field trip day that was good for me (got sun on my face) i came home and washed my hair #and got cozy and played stardew valley and balatro #i'll do laundry tomorrow... grade... grocery shop... try and just relax #anyway ur still here. gives u a thanks 4 reading sticker

#i know i have it good because my family was never struggling as much as my moms family seemed to #and because my parents were more affectionate and emotionally available than my dads family and parents #but being the oldest child of four and generally the 'good quiet one' with typically decent grades #meant less attention was given to me as opposed to say #the disabled second child or the family baby (at the time) #i genuinely dont remember getting a ton of one on one time with my parents unless i was in trouble #and while i know it did happen #children dont tend to internalize the positive encounters #and it only got worse as i got older and my interests drifted further away from what my parents liked or wanted to hear about #and then they had another kid but not before mom was hospitalized for a month #and dad was working so he wasn't very available so rven thougj i wasnt supposed to play parent #i kinda tried to. i was 14 #and it felt a little like no one was looking out for me #and it still doesn't #i still feel like an outsider and fundamentally unlovable unless im serving some kind of purpose #because if even my own parents dont pay me much mind when im not actively being helpful #why would anyone else?

when people complain about getting like, a 98% grade on something because it was "so close to perfect" its like. i understand what you're saying on a technical level. but that is a line of thought so far away from my experiences and ways of thinking that i do feel like im from another planet. 100% isnt even a real number to me

#i kinda understand when its something like a multiple choice test or something where there is an objective answer #it might feel like u got so close but just missed one #again still a bit alien to me because my scholarly performance is mysterious and anything over 70 is great to me #but i mean ive had a 98 before once in a math test. i did get exactly 1 bit of 1 question wrong #but i didnt really care that it was one off from perfect i was too busy being happy because that was the highest mark id ever received #and the previous math test i had taken got a 53% . grade 11 was a wild time for me in math class GHJKSHFKds #anyway i kinda see where ur coming from with stuff with right or wrong answers like that #but i sometimes get friends in class complain that they got a 95 or something on an art assignment #because they think they got docked 5 points for one or two little things #but i dunno. thats not really how fine arts departments in university tend to grade things #you dont start at 100 and get docked marks for things you got wrong. i dont think ive ever seen a 100% on something like that #tbh the numbers are a little arbitrary i find. i do prefer to try to get em higher because that helps with grants and stuff #but the numbers dont mean all that much in fine arts or in art history (my two majors) a 75 and a 95 can function the same depending on lik #weighting and context and feedback and whatever. i dunno its a wild world out there #it might just be the perspective of someone who did really goodbad in school. (GoodBad (tm) its when ur good but also kinda bad at school!) #compared to someone who got a lot of perfects in mandatory schooling. i sympathise i really do that kind of pressure sounds insane #but while i sympathize i cant really empathize as much unfortunately with this specifically orz its a world very far outside my purview! #100%s arent real to me so they never cross my mind to be worried about LOL
