ahhh angel, you’ve been missed!! i’m glad to see somewhat of an update from you! also, did i read that right, you’ve been dragged into kpop? because honestly same, well almost.
i was in love with kpop a few years ago, but fell out of it because the groups i was into either disbanded, or some members left which changed the group dynamic entirely. though recently i came across txt, took one look at choi yeonjun’s face, and now he’s all my mind can think about. but it’s been quite fun reverting back to my kpop days tbh, it gives me a boost of serotonin that i can’t get anywhere else. not even through anime + manga.
sorry about that ramble!! just know that diving into kpop is such a trip!! and if you ever feel like too much of a newbie i’d be glad to help you navigate through it. anyways, are there any groups you’re currently into in particular? because i’d love to hear about them!
also maybe it’s just me, but my interest in animanga has slightly waned now that i got back into kpop. i’m in my mid-20s and accepting the fact that i just can’t pour energy into multiple interests simultaneously anymore,,,,
also, if there’s ever a day you want to bond over yuuta and lewd him again, i’ll be here for that too!! hoping you’re well overall and feeling good! sending you love ♡ - 🌿
AHHHH HELLO HELLO MY LOOOVE!! blushing at u in my inbox honestly hehehe but yes!! I used to be a kpop fan when I was like 10-13ish? so 2nd gen will forever have a special place in my heart, but I’m literally the exact same! I think falling back down the kpop rabbit hole is a whole diff experience because there’s just so much content, esp as someone who’s kinda coming into it later so i have so many interviews and variety shows and comebacks to catch up on? vs. waiting on a new chap every week and that being the only canon content available, if that makes any sense hehe
please don’t ever apologize for rambling!! thats all i do on here HAHAHA I think the group that got me sorta back into it that @undermattsun shoved down my throat is sf9, but im also ballsdeep in ateez and txt as well omgajhaiajaoa like. !!!! BUT ALSO I TOTALLY FEEL YOU ABOUT THE ANIMANGA/KPOP THING! for me personally i doubt ill ever drop animanga just bcos ive kinda always been a casual consumer (fandom aside LAOQQOQKLA) but like i deffo agree with how my interest and focus just kinda ping pongs between the two (‖ⁱ꒪♖꒪)
SENDING YOU ALL THE LOVE IN THE WORLD AHHHHH THANK U FOR SCREAMING ABOUT IT WITH MEEEE I HOPE U ARE DOING AMAZING <333
#urusai! baka#baka 🌿#tw: kpop#im just gonna. preemptively tag that LAOAOAKOAOA#its been wo long i acc forgot how to tumblr but im#once again hiding in the tags to say#i am most definitely 100000% also a yeonjun stan#i think i was seeing a lot of kpop on my fyp and tl before i rly got back into it#and i saw a lot of skz and txt and nct and i love skz too but im not as invested?#and when i saw txt i fuckin SCREAMED AT YEONJUN i think it was those vids where he did those stupid mf tiktok dances and i wanted to dieEEE#i was banging my fists and everything#well acc no i saw an edit of beomgyu first and asked mt friend about it and i watched like one (1) interview and decided hes literally baby#maybe bcos hes so young as well? i draw my line at 00 and any idols born 00-02 are.. like to me theyre just babies HAHA#hes like a lil squishmellow to me ya know!! just keep him in my pocket hes so precious omdaokao but YEONJUN. is. i am nodding my head. i am#holding ur hand. we are screaming at yeonjun together#my 4th gen ult is deffo wooyoung from ateez (and maybe …….. my ult overall is wooyoung but i say that tentatively)#but after this last comeback and w every fancall i see of him he just sprints up my ranks and im trying not to fall too deep but SCREAMS#ANYWAYS ANUWAYS ANYWAYS IM SO HAPPY TO SEE U IN THE INBOX AAHHHHHHH RUNNING LAPS#KISSING U ON THE FOREHEAD <3333#THANK U FOR BEING HERE AND THANK U FOR SCREAMING WITH ME AND U KNOW I AM HERE FOR WHATEVER BRAINDUMP U UAVE#MY INBOX IS FOR UR BRAINVOMS!! "Wooooweeee!"
My eyes dart from my reflection on the mirror to the grinning man who popped up from behind me. I turn to him just as he begins wiggling his brows. I make a face him as he narrows his eyes and snaps his fingers while trotting over to me, "looking good, mi amor," he rolls his tongue to mimic a purr and gestures like a cat, "RRRRRRRRRRR."
I roll my eyes at him as I chuckle, turning back to my reflection, "hands off Pedro."
He gasps in offence, raising his hands, "I haven't even touched you yet!"
I lean in to more clearly see the dark blue line I was drawing by my eyes, "ok then," I shrug, "sorry for assuming."
Pedro tilts his head and waves his hands, "apology accepted--" he moves forward until he was close enough to snake his arms around me, "--in form of touching you."
I huff at his shenanigans but do not fight him off. In fact, I lean into his back hug and rest my head against him as we both look at our reflections in the mirror. I motion to my face amidst my scrutiny, "is the eyeliner too much?"
"Nope," he kisses my temple then retorts rather seriously, "it's yas slay."
I make a face.
His serious expression only lasts two seconds before he explodes into laughter. I release a huff as I bring my hand to my face while he thoroughly enjoys his own stupidity. I release one airy chuckle before giving myself a final once over, deciding I looked well put together enough. He inhales deeply to catch his breath then sighs against me, "you smell soooo good."
"It's called a shower," I moved to elbow him off, "you should try it sometime."
I grunt as I struggle against him. I hiss when I feel his mouth on me, "PEDRO!"
He pulls back, all after managing to leave a wet bite on my neck.
Pedro recoils and raises his hands in defeat. I punch him on the chest before wiping his mark.
He sighs, "it's kinda hard to shower by yourself, ya know. I need some help. Also!" he points, "you're dirty now, you got a little," he motions to his neck, "dribble on you-"
"PEDRO PLEASE," I pinch my fingers together, "my interview is in like, ten minutes," I point at him and scold, "contain yourself. Stay in your room."
I begin to storm off and he watches, moaning like a baby, "you mean our ro-"
I feel him follow after me. I snap, "STAY IN YOUR ROOM!" halting in my tracks. I push him back as I grab the door knob. He gives me a puppy dog frown. I give him one last point before closing the door behind me on my way out, "stay here."
Alas. I was in the living room, with a laptop set up in front of me as I did my online interview. I was glad that my Pedrito followed my orders and stayed in the bedroom for the entire duration. Not long now before it ends.
I smile to the interviewers as they begin to wrap up our short segment. I, along with he two hosts from a live news channel, laugh at the closing remarks. Suddenly, I find myself looking out to my side when I see an incoming Pedro just about to pass by.
He was stretching as he walked. He looked like he managed a brief power nap.
Oh fucking shit, he's going to the bathroom. And he's going to pass behind me to get there.
"Now, do you want to invite your fans to watch your film?" the male host asks.
"Uhhh," I trial off, as I turn to my side, rather un-inconspicuously. Pedro was soooooooo close now.
I panic as I turn between my camera and my impeding doom, "uhhh."
Fuck. Fuck. Fuck. Aint no way he was about to pass behind me and expose us like this.
THINK! WHAT DO WE DO?!??!
If I say his name, they're going to know it's him, but if I don't they're going to ask who I'm talking to anyway, but if I ignore him, he's going to pass and reveal himself. FUCKKKKK-
And in the split second of panic, I burst out the secret fourth option, and quite possibly the worst one, "FUCK!"
Yeah. Everyone stops.
Cue, my string of panicked apologize, "shit, I'm- fuck, SORRY SORRY SORRY!"
I catch Pedro, just as he realized what he has just done, or what he was about to do, rather.
"Sorry," I cover my hands on my face, "Sorry I-"
The interviewers laugh at me as I recuperate.
I sigh, turning to my side, "it's- there's a ghost that lives in my house."
"Oh, wow, you live in a haunted house?" the female host chuckles, "how thrilling."
"Yeah," I turn back to my camera, "it's quite stressful."
The interviewers chuckle as I regain composure and wave at my camera, "anyway, the ghost in my house says go watch the film with your loved ones, with family, friends, and your house ghosts too. We all worked very hard on the film, and we hope you enjoy it as much as we enjoyed working on it."
"Right!" Pedro agrees off camera, making me tense in my seat. He adds rather weakly as we make quick eye contact, "right."
The male host laughs, "wow, your ghost is really excited about this film."
"The ghost is going to get evicted soon. I'm calling an exorcist." I force a smile.
Finally, we say our goodbyes and I immediately shut my computer before any other fiasco happens.
"Sorry!" Pedro says immediately once he drops to his knees next to me, "I had booger brain. I woke up from a nap."
I look down at his messy hair and remorseful face. He grabs onto my legs and continuously apologizes to me.
I roll my eyes at him and tilt his head up at me as I grab him by his dark hair, "apology with tears."
He pouts, "I'm really, really sorry, baby. My booger brain..."
I release my grip on him and he immediately sits down next to me and pulls me into him. He continuously apologizes and I lean into his touch, beginning to feel bad for how genuinely remorseful he was. Just a little. He's kinda cute when he's pathetic like this.
"Pedro it's fine," I say, turning to him, pecking his lips repeatedly, "nothing happened. The hosts played it off too, which was really nice of them."
I crawl onto his lap and embrace him. He sighs and embraces me back. I nuzzle my face into his neck and murmur, "weren't you going to the bathroom?"
"Hmm? No, I was going to make a sandwich."
I snort, "of course you were."
I pull my head back and we look at each other. Pedro rubs my back. An idea springs into mind. I smile deviously, "I have decided that your apology will be in a form of Shakespeare."
When I shift off him to lie on the sofa and prop my head on his thigh, he looks down at me with furrowed brows. He brings his hands to his chest, "is the genuineness of my remorse not sufficient enough for you?"
"No, Don John," I sigh, "hark to me. From the top. Much Ado About Nothing."
Pedro chuckles airily before gathering my hair and pulling it back so that he could comb through it with his fingers. He sighs, and I turn to him as he scrunches his face, "I don't fucking remember."
"Do the, 'I must be sad when I...' like, feel like it, or some shit."
Pedro throws his head back and laughs. He sucks in a sharp breath, "like," he says with his exaggerated LA accent, "I have to be sad when I feel like I need to be sad."
"Exactly! Do that part," I giggle.
He continues, "I also will totally not smile at your lame jokes," he purses his lips and makes a face.
"Wait, that's what that means?"
Pedro nods at me, "yeah that's what that means."
"I thought that meant, like, I'll cry when I want to and smile when I want to."
"Well," he caresses my cheek, "you're not too far off."
I wave my hands, "ok, ok, now do the rest, and do it properly this time."
He playfully growls at me, "well, it's kinda hard to do Shakespeare when this cute lil thing is distracting me."
"Do better then."
"I'd rather do you."
"Pedro."
"What? You started it!"
I roll my eyes make a zipper motion to my mouth.
Pedro clears his throat. He mumbles some lines to himself to jog his memory, "... sleep when I am drowsy and tend on no man’s business," he states in an exaggerated manner, "laugh when I am merry and claw no man in his humor."
I hold in a laugh as he raises his hands in dramatics.
"And then," Pedro calls, "Conrad says something but I can't remember what he says."
"Pedro!" I whine.
"What?! I can't recite something I forgot, now can I?" he replies, busying himself with brushing my hair again.
I cross my arms, "boomer."
"Yeah, but I'm your boomer," he says pinches my nose. I wrangle against his actions and sequentially sit up.
Before I could retaliate, a phone rings across the room. It takes a second for me to realize it was I that received a phone call. I go ahead and answer upon seeing it was from my manager.
"Hello?"
"What have you done?!"
I pull my head back at her tone, "uh... hello to you too. What do you-"
"Are you aware you have a mirror behind your sofa?" she says.
I make a face. What does that-
I freeze, expression dropping as I turn to Pedro and slowly then to the mirror behind my sofa. There's a mirror behind my sofa. I have a fucking mirror behind my sofa.
My manager hums at my silence, "so, you want to make a statement with the ghost in your house before people catch on, or-"
I sigh as my manager begins to run down the possible things we could do. Pedro looks at me in concern as I wipe my face in frustration.
"Yeah, okay, okay. Let me call back in a minute. Bye."
Once I hang up, Pedro shifts on his spot and raises his brows at me.
I purse my lips, "they could see you in the mirror, Pedro."
He knits his brows, "see me in the mirror?"
I raise my brows at him.
He tries to piece it together, "see me in the... OH."
"Yeah, oh. My manager already spoke to yours, and they want to know what we want to do before people start making memes about your ugly face in my fucking mirror."
Pedro gives a guilty look. He throws his arm on the backrest and drops his head on his shoulder, "I... could change my name on Instagram to 'Ghost'."
I roll my eyes, "not fucking helping, Pedro."
"NO! But I'm serious, I-"

Bestiaryposting Results: Ilyecham
Presenting the results for the Ilyecham -- a name which continues to look wrong in Tumblr's sans-serif font. That's:
Ilyecham
There we go. As usual, if you're not sure what this is about, you may find an explanation at https://maniculum.tumblr.com/bestiaryposting . The text from which the artists are working is here:
I saw one post saying something along the lines of "if these things are going to keep being birds, I'm going to have to learn more about bird-drawing." I regret to tell you that the Aberdeen Bestiary has a whole section on birds, so they are indeed going to keep coming up. They make up, like, a third of the entries I have queued. Sorry. Or, if you wanted motivation to practice your avian drawing skills, you're welcome.
Also, sorry this post is a couple hours later than usual -- I had Other Obligations this evening.
Anyway, here's the art, in roughly chronological order as per usual.
Tumblr media
@embervoices (link to post here) has drawn both a colorful adult and a less-colorful juvenile, and moreover provides us with a quick vocabulary lesson, which I always enjoy because I'm a language nerd. (They also wrote their own image description -- thank you for that, saves me some time.) I absolutely love that the Ilyecham "greedily seizing larger birds" is here represented by a hatchling aggressively going after a "bewildered goose". The linked post includes some notes on design decisions also.
Tumblr media
@miapcain (link to post here) has done another beautifully stylized picture, showing multiple Ilyechams and their aggressive behavior. I love the style of course, and I also like that these have an almost sandpiper-like body plan with long beaks, which they apparently use to stab other birds -- or at least I think that's what the one in the bottom right is doing, which I think is pretty cool. The blue heads are a nice visual touch also, I think. The kind of tiled geometric background feels very period-appropriate, exactly the sort of thing you'd see in a particularly richly-illuminated manuscript.
Tumblr media
@sweetlyfez (link to post here) notes that there aren't many visual details in the description, so she decided to draw a regular bird of prey and then add a wizard hat to indicate that it is armed with spirit, which I love. I actually laughed out loud when I saw her explanation of why the hat. Excellent choices, no notes. Also I think this is a pretty good bird drawing on its own merits, hat aside.
Tumblr media
I continue to enjoy @rautavaara's drawing style (link to post here). I really like the way the rays of the sun are drawn here, specifically. Their Ilyecham is molting in an extremely dramatic fashion, missing whole clumps of feathers, which I think looks quite cool and communicates the idea well. (I worry a little bit about how long it's going to be able to stay in the sky with so many wing feathers missing, but they're apparently quite unpleasant birds, so maybe a rough landing is well deserved.)
Tumblr media
@coolest-capybara (link to post here) has drawn us a whole family of Ilyechams. Also in excellent medieval style, as usual -- the stylized drawing are kind of all in a cluster in this post. I like the plants; coolest-capybara is quite good at drawing plants in a way that looks just like the Unidentifiable Medieval Foliage you'd expect in a manuscript. We can see one parent exhibiting its molting behavior, another fighting a much larger bird, and three poor little juveniles walking off looking a bit dejected. Hits all the highlights of the description very well, I think. The linked post includes a brief description and a few close-up details of the image.
Tumblr media
@silverhart-makes-art (link to post here) would like to acknowledge that this is "kind of a mess" and "the wings are just gonna look like that", which I think is an example of artists holding themselves to very high standards because this looks very realistically rendered to me and I have no idea what might be wrong with it. That's a damn fine bird drawing right there. The linked post includes a pretty thoughtful explanation of which behaviors in the provided description are reminiscent of which birds, and how silverhart has combined elements of a few different birds to make this one.
Tumblr media
@karthara (link to post here) has drawn us what is unmistakably a bird of prey, and briefly explains in the linked post what birds this is inspired by. I think the feather pattern is very interesting, particularly the blue on the head. Something about the way the shape of the pattern interacts with the bird's eye looks very cool. A certain je ne sais quoi, if you will.
Tumblr media
@hairycarrot (link to post here) has done a pretty cool-looking sun in the corner of the page. One of the unexpected things I'm enjoying about these is that multiple artists decided to have fun with how to draw the sunshine in which the Ilyecham spreads its wings. Poor little guy falling out of the nest there... buddy I don't think that one is quite ready to fly.
Tumblr media
@treesurface (link to post here) shows us an Ilyecham creating a breeze by beating their wings, as described in the entry, which I like. Their Ilyecham is equipped with a dangerous-looking pointed beak for the purpose of fighting larger birds, and the look in its eyes definitely helps with that impression. The linked post provides an explanation of design decisions.
Tumblr media
@strixcattus (link to post here) notes that the description provided reminds them of a number of small raptors, but that all of those raptors look kind of alike, so they've given their Ilyecham a striking feather pattern to stand out from the crowd. I really like it, the pattern is excellent. I also like that we're seeing the return of an animal from a previous entry: that thing it's grabbing in its claws is a Holghras chick from a couple weeks ago. (Though I'm slightly torn because I like those little muppets, and the Holghras has enough problems without being attacked by an Ilyecham.) Strixcattus has again provided us with a modernized description of the creature in question, which is amazing as always. If any of y'all enjoy worldbuilding half as much as I do, you owe it to yourself to read these.
Tumblr media
@moustawott (link to post here) has drawn us a very small-looking bird here, performing stationary flight to aid in its molting behavior. The feather pattern is very good, in my opinion, and I like how the molted feathers are kind of blowing away behind it. Also an excellently-rendered bird in general.
Tumblr media
@pomrania (link to post here) envisions the Ilyecham as looking old and grumpy to fit the vibe of its described behavior -- an early draft of this drawing includes a speech bubble reading "get a job you freeloaders", which I think hits the mark pretty well. (For early drafts and additional commentary on the design, see the linked post) I like the eyebrows, I like the severe color scheme over most of the body paired with the colorful wings, and I like that this is the closest to what I pictured when I read about the Ilyecham, namely this:
Tumblr media
(Not that it's an eagle, but you know. Vibes.)
Tumblr media
@mobileleprechaun (link to post here) has very clearly depicted a small bird attacking a larger one. They note "heavy Season’s Greason’s inspo" and you know what? I totally see it. I also enjoy the decision to make the larger bird a dodo.
Tumblr media
Another cool pen drawing from @cheapsweets (link to post here), who also has some thoughts about how this particular nib works for drawing. Pretty well done birds, I think. I enjoy the one on the right just shoving the juvenile out of the nest, and the stylized sun is also pretty cool. The linked post includes a detailed explanation of the design decisions, and also has some questions about the entry that are probably rhetorical, but I figure I can try and shed some light on a couple of them anyway.
Again, we have a lot of behaviours, but nothing in terms of a physical description… Did the author just thing ‘everyone knows what birds look like’, was this just a bird that the reader was expected to be familiar with, or were they all like 'I’m not describing yet another bird… :p’?
I think it's a little of all of those, and also that the author tends to be more concerned with the symbolism of the animal than naturalistic description. So if, say, the color of its feathers doesn't have a symbolic meaning attached to it, the author won't bother to tell you. Related to that...
Hang on, this is going to be some kind of inspirational virtuous animal thing, isn’t is… :p I can imagine some medieval scribe writing 'and so, the ilyecham represents the cardinal virtue of fortitude’ or something…
Interestingly, this bird's parenting style is basically the only part of its description that doesn't have any symbolic explication attached. The molting in the south wind gets, like, pages of material though, including the fantastic assertion that it's the south wind because God comes from the south but the Devil comes from the north. Literally, that's what it says:
God, it is said, will come from the south. The Devil from the north; God from the south.
Moving on, let's take a look at the Aberdeen Bestiary illustration.
Tumblr media
Honestly, that also kind of looks like Sam the Eagle.
However, this is the entry for the Hawk. Yep. Turns out hawks are inherently opposed to the welfare state, which... actually lines up more than it should with present-day politics.
I don't have much more to add here, because most of my thoughts on hawks boil down to "Tobias was a pretty good character in the Animorphs series".
Pretty sure that's not how wings work, anatomically. But nevertheless. End of post.

Do you have any advice for those who want to post their stories and ideas on here but are just starting out
Not sure if I'm the best person to offer advice on these matters, as I feel my presence here has been mostly accidental. That being said, I am capable of introspection and I've been here long enough to notice patterns, so I can gladly share my own observations with you! Feel free to draw your own conclusions. Everyone else is invited to offer corrections or additions. :)
Guide under the cut because it's another long ramble divided in 3 parts.
What to post
The million-dollar question. Do you want to share original stories, or fanfiction? Various genres, or reader centered romances? You have the choice to try your luck and dive in with your own thing or scour the market to build a following first.
I've seen trending original stories from accounts who'd just started out, but don't use that as a reference for the quality of your own work. If you're not gaining traction, it doesn't automatically mean it's bad. There are hundreds of variables involved: the time, the context, the people. It takes one big blog to discover your story and share it, and you've taken your first step into recognition. The main issue is, there's no guarantee when or if it's going to happen.
Your other choice is to introduce yourself with fanfiction. Consider it a way of saying “let me show you my writing skills through something of your interest”. If you've been wanting to write fanfiction from the beginning, great! Now comes the next question: what is your goal? If you want more recognition, you'll want to consider the fandoms. Is there something you're into that's currently also trending on Tumblr? Writing for Hazbin Hotel, for example, will most likely get you more notes than writing for some 90s manga very few people know about. At the end of the day, you shouldn't feel pressured to write for what's "selling", but you can always find a compromise that works for you. Once you gain more followers, you can always sprinkle in more variety. Having more people who appreciate your work will give you a little boost when venturing into other areas.
I'll give you my personal case: I decided to share my Baki story right at the time a new season was out. It just so happened that many other people were interested in said character. "I only watched two episodes and immediately searched for fics", or "I saw an edit and now I'm here". So, there were people actively keeping tab on recent works for more content, and one of the relevant blogs in the fandom shared my content as well. That got the ball rolling. I've always been a multi-fandom blog, and thus with more visitors came more diverse requests. "Wait a minute, I came for X, but I see you like Y, too!"
TL;DR: If you're interested in original work or lesser known fandoms but want recognition, try to expand into trending and popular fandoms to gain visibility.
How to post
Is there a specific template you must adhere to? Absolutely not. However, I've noticed many common elements from people sharing their stories. There are authors who will dive right into the story, no title, no descriptions, but they already have followers who know what to expect. If you're just starting out, you might want to offer a helping hand to people who don't know you yet. Have a concise, clear title. Make it obvious from the beginning what your story is about. You can include trigger warnings or content previews. Maybe a little synopsis or two-three sentences to summarize everything. I've seen some blogs mention that their shorter stories get more interaction (1-2k words), so this might be something to consider. If you would prefer going for longer works, perhaps it's wise to give everyone a heads-up and include the word count at the beginning. If you want to encourage people to check out your other works, you can include a link to your masterlist at the top of the post.
Regardless of appearances, once your content is written, it needs to be tagged. Which brings us to the next topic:
Tumblr media
This truly isn't meant to call anyone out, just something I noticed. Many people don't know how to use the hashtag feature.
Let me give you a fabricated example: you just published your best fanfiction so far. The magnum opus of your work. Time passes, and you barely get any notes. You tagged the post with #fanfic (because it's fanfiction, right?), #writers of tumblr (to notify other writers of your presence), and #series name. It's not bad by any means, but these are extremely generic hashtags. If your only anchor for the post is, say, #Harry Potter, it will be immediately drowned by the massive influx of various content under this tag: memes, fanart, discussions, screenshots. Everything meets here. If your story is a reader insert, your target is not only the overall fandom, but specifically the people looking for this type of story. Which characters are featured? Is it more of a fluffy romance, or downright smut? Is your original character a monster? If so, what kind? You have to help people find your content. If you're not sure what tags to include, use other blogs as reference. Find stories similar to yours and check the top posts. What other tags did the author use? Is there a common pattern among these popular stories?
TD;DR: Make your posts clear and obvious within the first few lines. Overly general or overly specific tags are not bad, but they shouldn't be your only identifying features. Make it very easy for people to navigate your blog (masterlists, consistent hashtag system, etc)
When to post
At one point I asked myself, out of curiosity, why some of my own posts are more popular than others despite the same amount of effort. Is there a difference depending on when you release your content? The answer is yes! There's an article discussing the best times to post on social media in order to maximize engagement. Of course, there's many variables involved, and these time intervals are not a guarantee. When are your followers most active? When do you notice a peak in notifications? Have a look at this neat desktop feature. It gives you all the answers you need. If your engagement is the highest at a given hour, it might be worth a shot to post your content then. You can also schedule your posts to match the patterns.
Tumblr media
Let's say you posted something, and you suspect it hasn't reached all of your followers. Maybe it was a slow day, and it got less engagement than usual. I've seen people who reblog their own content the next day or even regularly, so you can opt for that if you're worried you missed out.
Additionally, Tumblr seems to reward activity. You may post as often or as little as you'd like, as long as you maintain a certain regularity. If you search for top posts/blogs of all time, you'll notice it's not actually an all-time chart, but only the content with recent engagement. A post with a million notes that hasn't been touched in 5 years won't show up. Same for blogs. The recommendations you see are of accounts who frequently post under the given hashtag. This is something to keep in mind as well.
Lastly, if you're willing/are extroverted enough, you can always try to network and build a group of mutuals. Reblog, leave comments, reach out to people within the fandom or who do the same thing. When a post is fresh, it may be temporarily bumped to the top of the search if it receives a burst of engagement. So, it definitely helps to have a bunch of friends who give you a little boost.
Yeah. This is what I have. It's not a matter-of-fact textbook, just what I personally witnessed or my own inferences. The most important detail is to give yourself time, and of course to have fun! I wish you the best of luck, and don’t forget that your ideas are worthy regardless of the outcome.

Bundled in your winter coat, you guided Matt and yourself around the path at the local park. There was a hot coffee in your left hand, your right hand holding onto his, both of your fingers intertwined together. His cane was currently folded up and in the pocket of his winter coat, his own right hand holding a cup of coffee instead. Matt had invited you out this afternoon to grab coffee, and because it was a surprisingly warmer day despite the fact that it was the very beginning of March, you and Matt had decided to take advantage of it by going on a walk instead of staying at the coffee shop.
“So what is it Ellison has you working on now?” Matt asked curiously.
Your shoulders dropped at the question and a deep sigh left you. Walking in step beside you, Matt chuckled at the frustrated noise. His left hand squeezed yours comfortingly in return.
“Well I’m off of copy editing duty, at least,” you began. “But I’m still on his shit list. I’m working on a piece for a local fundraiser coming up. Which yes, it’s for a great cause and it definitely deserves attention,” you told him, “but Katy meanwhile is covering that weird string of homicides–”
“Stay out of that,” Matt cut in quickly.
Head turning, you shot Matt a questioning look. “What?” you asked.
“Stay out of that,” he repeated. “I’m keeping an eye on Katy but…neither of you should be involved in that.”
“Do I…want to know? you asked cautiously.
“No,” he answered immediately.
“Okay,” you breathed out. “Uh, well. Point being I’m glad I’m covering something again,” you continued, “but I mean…it’s not that interesting, either.”
“It’s safer,” Matt pointed out.
“Yeah,” you admitted, your gaze involuntarily dropping down to your injured side.
Matt gently tugged at your hand, the gesture catching your attention. You glanced back up at him and saw him smiling back at you beneath those red lenses. His head nodded to an empty park bench nearby, just on the side of the path.
“Why don’t we sit for a minute?” he suggested. “Give you a little break from walking?”
With a sigh, you nodded and led the pair of you over towards the bench. Matt sat down beside you, throwing an arm around your shoulders and drawing you further into his side. You couldn’t resist the little smile forming on your mouth when he did. Your head lowered, coming to rest comfortably on his shoulder. A second later you felt his hand shift along your shoulders before he began affectionately combing his fingers through your hair.
“It’s healing pretty well,” Matt told you.
“Is it?” you asked curiously, your eyes watching as others passed the pair of you by.
“Sounds like–” he paused, his head tilting briefly to the side, “–maybe another week before it’s mostly healed. No sign of infection.”
“Probably because I have someone with experience keeping stab wounds clean helping me,” you muttered.
“How’re you doing, by the way?” he asked carefully. “Emotionally? With–with everything?”
Your eyes dropped down to your coffee cup in your hands, fidgeting awkwardly with the little cardboard sleeve. “Better,” you answered quietly. “The nightmares have lessened, as I’m guessing you noticed. And I don’t constantly feel like anyone is sneaking up on me in my apartment anymore, not with Backman arrested and you, you know, making sure no one else is out there taking an interest in me.”
Matt’s forehead lowered, coming to rest against the top of your head where it still lay along his shoulder. “I’m sorry that happened,” he whispered. He shifted, pressing a sweet kiss into your hair. “I’m sorry that I didn’t get to Backman sooner, that I didn’t–”
“Matt, stop,” you cut him off. “Stop beating yourself up. We’ve been over this a hundred times. You did everything you could. And I am so grateful for you finding and saving me that night. This wasn’t exactly on you.”
Your left hand released the coffee cup, reaching behind you and grabbing his right hand. You unwound it from behind your shoulders and drew it up to your mouth, your lips placing a kiss to his torn and battered knuckles.
“I went poking too close to Backman,” you said, lips brushing the back of his hand as you spoke. “I was being reckless. I’ve certainly learned from that. And I am definitely going to listen to you next time.” You turned his hand over, bringing his palm to your mouth as you kissed that gently, too.
“Why didn’t you just give him my name?” he asked.
Your head turned on his shoulder until you were looking up at him. He was focused straight ahead now, those dark glasses once again covering his eyes and the emotions behind them.
“You can’t be serious, can you?” you shot back in disbelief. “You really think I’d give him your name?”
“I meant,” Matt said softly, his gaze dropping down to his feet, “I wish you would have.”
You pulled back from him, your brows drawing together as you studied him. He looked a little tense, his shoulders a bit stiff as he sat there beside you. It looked like he was chewing the inside of his cheek with the way his mouth was moving, too.
“I would never have given him your name, Matt,” you told him firmly. “He’d have gone after you. Hurt you. You think I could just live with that?”
“Better me than you,” he murmured.
You shook your head roughly, squeezing his hand firmly in yours. “No. Uh uh. Stop that martyr shit right now, Matthew. You look at me.”
The corner of his lip twitched almost into a smile. “You know I can’t,” he said, his head turning towards you as he spoke.
“Matthew Michael Murdock this is not the time for blind jokes,” you scolded him, though you couldn’t entirely keep the smile off of your own mouth. “I would never give your secret up, Matt. And also, there was no part of me that believed he’d have just let me go, either. So really, we’d both probably end up dead in that scenario.”
The little smile that had slipped onto his mouth instantly fell away. Your eyes narrowed curiously as you continued to study him beside you on the bench. It definitely looked like something was bothering him; his body was still a little tense and he seemed a bit distant.
“What’s on your mind?” you asked.
He shook his head lightly, his covered gaze falling away from you. Releasing the hold you had on his hand, you reached out and grabbed his cheek. Carefully you turned his face back towards yours.
“Hey,” you whispered. “You can tell me anything, Matt. And we are supposed to be working on talking to each other," you reminded him. "What’s bothering you?”
For a moment he remained silent as your thumb gently stroked his cheek, the stubble of his beard lightly rasping the pad of your finger. Very slowly you watched his body relax before you, his shoulders dropping as he inevitably leaned further into your hand.
“It’s stupid,” he began, shrugging lightly. “My fault really for eavesdropping but…I haven’t been able to get it out of my mind. Hearing you tell Karen that you regretted that night we met.”
Your face fell at his words, your heart twisting in your chest. “Oh Matt,” you whispered. “You clearly stopped listening to that conversation pretty quickly or you’d have heard Karen call me out on saying that. I never meant that,” you told him,  shaking your head firmly. “I was hurt and angry, but I didn’t mean it. We’ve had our issues lately–pretty big ones, yes–but you’ve been the best thing in my life. That night at Josie’s was one of my favorite nights. Granted," you continued, tone softening to something lighter, "I then proceeded to have the biggest crush for a year and had no idea the feelings were reciprocated.”
A beautiful smile slowly lit up his face, his eyes crinkling at the corners just behind his glasses and that dimple in his right cheek forming–you would do anything to always see that dimple. The warmth of his smile was easily stirring up those nervous butterflies he somehow still managed to give you even after all of this time. You couldn’t fight back the matching, bright smile forming on your own face.
“Oh?” he teased, turning just a bit to quickly peck your hand still on his cheek. “You had a crush on little old me?”
You rolled your eyes, laughing as your hand dropped to your lap. “Please, there’s nothing little about you, Matt," you replied.
Instantly you realized what you’d just said, eyes flying to Matt as one of his brows quirked up high above the red lens of his glasses. You clapped a hand over your mouth before you burst into a laugh behind it. He sat there smirking coyly back at you.
“Is that so?” he continued to tease.
“That is not what I meant!” you wheezed out between laughs.
He pulled a face, head tilting to the side. “So you’re going to just take that compliment back?” he asked.
A snort fell out of you as you continued to laugh behind your hand. Matt’s mouth, as it always did at that sound, curled up into a smile again.
“How did we end up talking about this?” you asked as your laughter subsided, placing the back of your hand against your blushing cheek.
Matt shrugged as he smiled innocently back at you. “Not sure,” he answered. “I’m guessing it's the adorable lack of filter between your brain and your mouth you always tell me about.”
“Oh is it?” you sassed back.
“Mmm, or maybe it’s that talent you’ve still never shown me,” Matt mused. “You know, shoving your foot in your mouth?”
“Will you ever let me live that down?” you asked him.
“Not until I witness it myself,” he answered.
Rolling your eyes again, you drew your coffee up to your mouth and drank down the warm liquid. Matt’s arm wrapped back around your shoulder, slowly drawing you right back into his side. Your head lowered down to rest along his shoulder again, a contented sigh leaving you.
“I missed this,” he admitted. “Just being with you. Laughing. You just…make everything better when I’m with you.”
Turning, you planted a kiss to his shoulder. “I feel the same way,” you admitted before laying your head back against him.
A comfortable silence fell over the pair of you as you both sat on the bench, drinking down your coffees. Matt’s fingers had resumed combing through your hair, the gesture relaxing you further into his side. The fingers of your left hand were absently tracing patterns onto his thigh that was pressed alongside yours.
Only two weeks ago it felt like everything had been broken between the two of you, as if the damage was possibly irreparable. But over the past almost two weeks you’d both been slowly finding your way back to each other. Despite it being slow going, you saw things mending between the pair of you. And not only just mending, but growing stronger. Communication had vastly improved between you both. Which also meant Matt wasn’t hiding his feelings from you like he so often had in the past, even if he sometimes required a little reminding. And you had found yourself more readily voicing your concerns and fears in turn.
“What’re you thinking about?” Matt asked, his voice breaking through your thoughts. “You seem quite deep in your head.”
“Us,” you answered.
“Ahh, yes,” Matt teased, the tone of his voice instantly drawing a smile to your face, “because when I asked what was on your mind, I really wanted a vague response.”
You laughed lightly, turning and burying your face into his shoulder as you did. His own shoulders were shaking gently as he chuckled.
“Sorry,” you muttered, head rising as you rested your chin on his shoulder. “I was just thinking about how happy I am that this didn’t end for good. That we managed to talk and work through things.”
His head turned, a grin on his face. “Me too, sweetheart,” he said. “I really didn’t think that would be possible.”
A thought struck you suddenly and you drew back from Matt. Raising your left hand between the pair of you, you stuck out your pinky finger. You watched as Matt’s head tilted curiously to the side, his focus dropping down towards your hand hovering in the space between both of you.
“What’re you doing?” he asked.
“Making a pinky promise with the Devil, obviously,” you playfully shot back. “Hold up your hand.”
With a defeated sigh and a smile still spread across his lips, Matt raised his hand beside yours. He extended his pinky and then quirked a brow silently at you.
“We’re going to make a pinky promise,” you began, “that we’re going to use our grown up words and communicate when shit gets difficult again. Because I’m sure it will, especially with what both of us do. And,” you continued as Matt patiently listened beside you, “we’re not breaking up again over something like that. Or running away from our problems. We’re going to try to fix them and work on things together .”
“You…want to make a pinky promise over something that serious?” he questioned.
“Yes,” you answered. “Do you want to break a pinky promise with me, Matty?”
He huffed out a laugh, shaking his head. “No,” he answered. “You’re right. You’re far too adorable for me to want to do that.”
His pinky finger wrapped around yours as yours curled back around his. Both of your hands stayed like that for a moment before you finally released his.
“Glad that’s settled,” you joked.
As your hand lowered back to your lap, Matt’s hand darted out across the space between you, landing along on your neck. He gently drew you in towards him, the movement briefly taking you by surprise. And then his mouth was on yours, soft and warm. It took your brain a moment to realize what was happening before your lips began to move in response to his.
“Matt–” you began between kisses, “–what–”
“I love you,” he murmured against your lips.
At his words, you kissed him back harder, your hand rising to grasp the back of his neck, fingers slipping into his hair. You pulled back only just long enough to whisper "I love you" in return, and then your mouth was back on his.
You ignored the onlookers as you sat on that park bench kissing Matt. You didn't care who was watching the two of you this afternoon, because two weeks ago, you'd never have believed you could even be sitting on a park bench kissing Matt again.
And you weren't planning to stop any time soon.

First off, Ascendance of a Bookworm - think latest Japanese released light novel - spoiler alert. I don't actually know which light novel it's from but I can kind of guess the general timeline based on my having read the webnovel. Since I'm posting this from my phone I don't have my handy spoiler picture that I would otherwise simply edit the number of to suit the occasion
Hopefully this is enough text to cover the picture.
I'm not entirely master of the secrets of tumblr posting,
I mean, I know enough to get by.
But that's about it.
Yup
Should be good by now-
Hopefully.
Here is some filler dialogue.
*clears throat, producing microphone from who knows where-
'this is to express my hopes that no one gets unwillingly spoiled-
TaKe mY hand-
We'll mAke it I SWEaaR
WooAAHhoOOOH
LiVin on A PraAyerrR-'
Tumblr media
Okay. Art study! Of one of the latest official illustrations that popped up when I was totally not getting sidetracked on Pinterest, hahaha...
Anyway.
I saw this and first I was like,
*internal screaming
*sniffs 'it's just so... I don't even know what to say
*more internal screaming
'it's just.. so sweet, y'know? Heartwarming? Romantic? I dunno, I like the picture,
It is very.. Fangirl worthy.
Yeah. That's a good description. I am definitely fangirling rn.
And then I was like-
I need to see it in colour.
I just do.
You know what?
I haven't done any art studies in a while, so it's about to time I did another one!
Also, in case you were wondering- (though I feel like some of the less careful strokes on this might give it away) I didn't trace this. Because I was doin an art study. Oh yeah. (I mean, I don't normally anyway since I'm trying to improve my art skills on the fast track rn) Though boy was I tempted. I thought about it to start with from the 'I wanna colour this in who cares about the lineart-' but then decided against it, because I wanted to know if I could do a genuine replica of Ferdinand's face. I would say this is the closest I have gotten so far to the official art version. Sure, I can do a recognisable caricature, but whenever I tried to straight up copy a picture of the guy it would always just be slightly off.
Well, not all the time, but often enough to be annoying.
His nose.
It bothers me.
To draw I mean.
Not aesthetically.
He has a great nose.
Just a frustrating profile.
Y'know?
But this time? I think I managed it!
Yeah!
:D
It did take a while.
But it was worth it.
:D

Darkness Lane by Joan Hassall [ x ] - the piece that most inspired my recent woodcut-style piece.
When I found out I was drawing for @gorgeousundertow's regency AU fic, Half Agony, Half Hope, as part of the @ineffableidiotsbigbang, I started looking up Jane Austen novel illustrations for inspiration and ended up finding some really cool art and websites! I'm posting about some of the images and resources I found because I think it may be interesting to others too (and even if it isn't, I'll have gotten the infodump out of my system haha).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Illustrations from Mansfield Park by Joan Hassall [ x ]
The link above points to a gallery on pemberley.com which has deliciously old-school DIY website HTML and a wealth of Jane Austen illustrations, as well as references for regency clothing. This was where I discovered Joan Hassall's work and decided I wanted to do a woodcut style piece (and then subsequently regretted it many times during the process of making it because I had no idea what I was doing). The detail, visual texture and dramatic lighting in her work is so cool and I just got more obsessed the more I saw.
See more Joan Hassall on tumblr via @uwmspeccoll (a very cool account!) here, here, and here.
The gallery on pemberley.com also had a bunch of Charles Edmund Brock illustrations, which I could not get enough of and so returned to the searchpage and found Molland's Circulating-Library. SO COOL! Jane Austen fans have bought illustrated editions of her novels and uploaded scans of them and oh my gosh they are all so beautiful.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Northanger Abbey watercolour illustrations by C.E. Brock [ x ]
Side note about Henry Tilney (Catherines' love interest in NA), I also came across this old fan page for him from a mostly-broken-links-now site called THE CULT OF DA MAN and um it's great haha, check it out. (reviews of artists representations of him, more delicious HTML, and pixel art (!) of da aforementioned man)
There's also an article on Molland's about Charles and Henry Brock and their Jane Austen works that I found interesting. Charles is better known and did far more JA illustrations, but I do really enjoy Henry's tinted line pieces! (the article also dunks on some bad reproductions of them haha)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Pride & Prejudice tinted line illustrations by H.M. Brock [ x ]
C.E. Brock also did really cool title pages and when I found out that fic banners were a thing I knew what I wanted to do! (with the help of the symmetry tool and undo haha, so much respect for traditional art)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Title pages illustrated by C.E. Brock [ x ] and my banner - the banner design uses elements of both of the Brock images.
So, research in hand/bookmarks folder and banner completed, I decided on a scene from Chapter 10 where our beloveds are standing beside the Thames in the moonlight after walking around London for hours together and talking (CUTE). I wasn't sure what buildings to include in the background, so @gorgeousundertow gave me a few suggestions: Old Southwark Bridge, London Bridge, Southwark Cathedral, and Clink Prison. I realized after a bit of sketching that bridges would be hard to show with the straight-on view I wanted to do, so I decided on the Cathedral, partially because I had also considered drawing a scene that takes place in Salisbury Cathedral in Ch. 7.
OK BUT HOW? I struggled finding reference images for a while until I realized this was LONDON and would be very Google Earth-able. Big ups to Frank Cosgrove, whoever they are, for uploading this haha. This was also where I found out that all the suggestions were from a very small area!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
View of Borough High Street, London, 1830, by George Scharf [ x ]
The building in front of the cathedral looked too new, so I went searching for an older image and found the second image. It's a completely different angle but it was enough to get me past the 'oh no idk what do'.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
the much brighter concept vs the much darker finished product, featuring a barely-visible Southwark Cathedral
While looking for images of the Thames pre-Google Earth, I also found this website called Dictionary Of Victorian London which has a whole bunch of old images and excerpts from newspapers, etc on a variety of topics. One of the categories, Sex > 'unnatural offences', had this excerpt from The Times (1863), which reads:
Thomas Lane, a coffeehouse keeper, No.9, Love-lane, Eastcheap, city, and James Mortimer, a seaman, were charged with unlawfully meeting each other to commit an unnatural offence. ... The Magistrate committed both prisoners for trial.
Ugh. I hate that so much. Some sexy stuff happens right after the moment I'd chosen, and reading that reminded me that such things would be much more comfortable and safe in darkness (or if ppl just stopped being homophobic, but barring that). I wanted them to feel alone, like the whole world was asleep and it was just them, outside of time.
With that in mind, the iconic Thames Walk Lamp had to go bye bye, and when rendering the background I tried to minimize any light - it's just the suggestion of buildings. I also added tree cover! I tried to imitate how Joan Hassall does trees in some of her artwork, but when she rendered trees like this they were usually farther away/smaller, so my version looks more stylized with how prominent they are.
The ribbon border and book quote presentation is of course more Brock, but by making it black and having the interior image use it as a border instead of a fade-out inside it, I made it a bit of a reference to the very cool foliage edges you see in the very first Hassall image at the top.
I used the procreate brushes from this post on the Procreate Folio forums if anyone wants to try them!
Also fun fact! The font for the quote is called Chanson D'Amour <3 (I initially downloaded it when making the banner before changing the banner font to one called Dark & Black)
------
That's all I have to say about the process for the piece, but here's a comic from Dictionary Of Victorian London, Thames > Sanitary condition that I thought was cute (and gross ig? but also cute):
Tumblr media
a Punch comic from 1850, I can't link the page due to how the website URL system works but it's from the Thames > Sanitary condition page

Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
So, sometime ago it was nightime, and I was ready to go to sleep but I decided to check the Tumblr one last time, and then I saw a post by @bojackandherb about their Bojack Horseman Beauty and the Beast au. And the moment I saw his design(and considering that "Beauty and the Beast" is one of my favorite movies), I knew I had to draw him.
And that is how I end up with so many drawings. I spent probably a whole week making drawings for this au, I even made different outfits for Herb based on Belle's dresses. I had planned to paint them digitally but some other things happened and I end up forgetting about it.
So I decided to post them like this.
At least now you can see how inconsistent my style is.
I love how Herb looks in the second one, but I hate how he looks in the fourth, and there is a huge chance I drew them in the same day.
Impressively, I was able to keep Bojack mostly consistent.
I still have other two drawings that I was actually able to paint it, I'll probably post it later.
Edit:
The first one is a redraw of this one here, made also by @bojackandherb .
That's it. Bye.

A Tumblr Essay in Response to Youtuber Aldone’s Video Essay Titled “Why Elsa IS A Bad Character”
Tumblr media
This is the first time in forever I use anti-tags in this blog, but I have to protect myself. To be fair, this is Tumblr and you have full freedom to block me after reading this post, so bear with me.
And I will close the comment session for this one because I imagine I would be exhausted to deal with it in this particular post. Forgive me for my cowardness.
 Caveat:
Trigger warning: This post has mentioned misogyny, mental illness, and cyberbullying.
I should first explain my relationship with Frozen franchises. When Frozen was out, I was a little 13~14 gremlin. I seldom went to theatre for a movie in my entire life, and I am still the same now. In the 23 years of my life, I have ever gone to a movie theatre three times. Every other movie I watch is from DVD renting stores or Disney Plus. Therefore, when I watched Frozen 1, it was when our music teacher in the high school decided to play the film in the class as Frozen 1 was a musical (so it qualifies as teaching material in a music class I guess).
I am a cis woman who once succumbed to 1990s feminism—I refused to have anything to do with feminine qualities as I’ve never learned make-up and dress-up. So Frozen actually resonated with a part of me that I had never thought existed—I saw the girl who wished to be seen as more powerful and tougher in the characterization of Elsa in Frozen 1. But at the same time, the influence of 1990s feminism in me told me that I should feel ashamed for liking Frozen 1. I refused to tell anyone (including my family) that I love Frozen, except my closest friend in the high school.
Once, I had to confess to my younger sister because she found me drawing Elsa fanart. I confessed: “I love Frozen, yes. Your super masculine-looking sister loves Frozen. Could you let me be and don’t tell my Mom? I can’t deal with how she would think of me if she knows I love Frozen.”
I love Frozen. I love Frozen Fever. Olaf's Frozen Adventure is mostly repetitive for me but I still feel the warmth when the sisters sing “When We’re Together.” I understand there are flaws in these films, but hey, I have a fun time watching those films, and they would be a big part of my teenage years.
But I don’t like Frozen 2. I personally disagree with many of the creative choices in this film, which I don’t think I would go too much into in this post. But just so you know: I am an Asian and I once wrote Frozen fanfiction and did prompts occasionally on the Internet platform in my own country. Once my criticism of Frozen 2 was known by the Frozen fans in the Internet community in my country, I was cyber bullied to the point of depression and despair.
That is my story about my relationship with Frozen franchise. I believe Youtuber Aldone has his story of his…somewhat love-hate relationship with Frozen franchise told again and again in his video. (Yeah today I’m going to express my personal opinions on this video essay)
Aldone, if you are reading this, I would like to say that the purpose of writing this post is not out of mean spirit or hatred against you. It is me doing the thing I am more familiar with—writing, to express my thoughts on your several points in this video. I think we can agree to disagree, it’s the purpose of a conversation even though we have never met. I appreciate your effort to put the original video together, as I understand how much work it takes to make a video because I have edited crappy videos for my school projects before.
But I am here just to provide my opinions, nothing more, nothing less. Perhaps by doing so, I can finally have more peace with a part of me that was once obsessed with this franchise. I could finally be free from the prison of this obsession.
And to anyone who cyberbullies Aldone after reading my post, I just want to say: fuck off from my lawn and you are the worst.
Then shall we begin?
Pardon me for not quoting Aldone’s original video quote-by-quote. I would write this in bullet points, but I would simply the arguments Aldone attempted to make rather than quoting them with composing a Tumblr post purpose
  1. Aldone: “Elsa’s parents are the worst royal parents in Disneyverse, they were portrayed in a positive light, but everything they did as parents were horrible to Elsa. The issue is the film never made it clear that Elsa’s parents were bad parents.”
My counterpoints: The thing with parenting, imo, is you can love your children but still fuck up the parenting. You can love your children but still gaslight them subconsciously so they will learn better, even if you mean no ill will. Their parents’ flaw was that they didn’t know how to confront Elsa’s emotions after the Anna incident. If Frozen 1 tried to flat-out portray Elsa’s parents as characters like Mother Gothel, manipulating Elsa just for their personal gain, then honestly I would be disappointed. It would not necessarily be a bad story, per se, but how I view Elsa’s parents is: they tried their best to protect Elsa, but they messed up.
“Do You Want to Build a Snowman” for me, it’s a heart-wrenching experience as I feel bad for both Anna and Elsa. Parents served as a purpose to fuel Elsa’s fear further, rather than being a pair of good parents.
The thing about this world is that love is not enough for salvation sometimes. And love sometimes is poison. I don’t agree with the view that there’s “fake love/just obsession” and “true love.” Love is a fact, love is an emotion, but love sometimes will not necessarily make you a better person.
But I gotta say, as a fellow who dislikes Frozen 2, I agree it makes no sense in retrospect considering Iduna had some experience with magical spirits so I am mainly talking about Frozen 1 here.
  2. Aldone: “’ For the first time forever’ is good until Hans ruined it because upon re-watching, we know Hans was the true villain. So the contrast between Anna and Elsa in this song is weakened. This song is supposed to be about the hero vs. the villain. (Aldone did not say this in this bracket, but I guess he wanted something like ‘Out There’ in Hunchback of Notre Dame from ‘For the First Time in Forever.’)”
My counterpoints: I am sorry, Aldone. But pardon me for being blunt: I think you grapple with the idea of “Elsa was supposed to be the main villain in the first draft” too much, to the point that you couldn’t see what Frozen is now as an end product on its own.
Yes, I admit it is always interesting and important to understand the creators’ intentions. But sometimes, I would choose to embrace “The Death of the Author” more to free my expectations from those interviews from the creators.
So what’s my point here? My view on “For the First Time Forever” is: This is a song about fear, the very core theme of this film. It is not about good and evil, but it is about how two sisters deal with their fear. Now, you might ask “Well, it is obvious for Elsa, but what do you mean on Anna’s end?” Anna was isolated by her sister without understanding the reasons, her fear was: what if the coronation party couldn’t solve her isolation?
I know it all ends tomorrow
So it has to be today
'Cause for the first time in forever
For the first time in forever
Nothing's in my way! (Anna’s verses from “For The First Time in Forever”)
While I personally don’t agree with the choice to make Hans the twisted villain, I do not agree that Hans ruined the song. The contrast between Anna and Elsa in this song still works even if Hans exists, because, for me, Hans’ problems have nothing to do with the brilliant writing in this song and the reprise.
  3. Aldone: “’ Let It Go’ is bad for character development because it sends a bad message. It looked like woman empowerment but felt flat because when Elsa built the castle, she didn’t face the consequences of her actions.”
My counterpoint: I think a comment under Aldone’s original video said it better than me: “Let It Go” is about Elsa being a hypocrite.
Yes. And I mean it. Elsa was hypocritical in this song. She sang about being free and could use her power in her will, but she chose to close the gate (of the balcony) right in the face of the audience. She was blinded by her desire to be free from her lifelong fear, but she didn’t realize her ice castle was just another prison for herself because her mind was never free from her fear for real. I feel like I am not reading too much in that particular frame of closing the gate right in the audience’s faces??? I just feel like…the metaphor ain’t that subtle???
Well, people always told me that I read too much in everything. I guess that’s how I function as a human being named Levi.
“Let It Go” was unfortunately framed as woman empowerment because of its fame. Let me say this: If you really have ever watched AMC’s “Breaking Bad,” you would understand the scene when Walter White said “I AM NOT IN THE DANGER, SKYLAR—I AM THE DANGER” is one of the most pathetic moments of the character of Walter, rather than how mainstream critics interpreted as “badass.”
Now, you could say “But this song was supposed to be a villain song! They ruined this song by making Elsa not the villain in this film!” Then pardon me for being a broken record: Embrace The Death of the Author. The song was not ruined, the misinterpretation of the mass did.
Finally, I just would like to add something to “she didn’t face the consequences of her actions.” I think: “For the First Time in Forever (Reprise)” is her consequence. You could argue that this consequence was far from enough, therefore, Elsa never learned from her mistake.
I would like to remind you that feeling guilty doesn’t necessarily make a human being a good person. Oppenheimer was crushed by his crippling guilt after WW2, did that make him a good guy?
Elsa felt the guilt, that was her consequence, and yes, she tried to run away from it, but that made her human. The inability to face her fear was her major character flaw.
But dear Aldone, pardon me but: Having character flaws doesn’t make a character badly written.
  4. Aldone: “We don't know what is Elsa thinking that much in the course of the film. (He implied that just seeing how her magic respond to her emotions felt flat in term of characterization) She was too passive in Frozen 1.”
My counterpoint: A character does not necessarily need to be proactive/having their own agency to be compelling. Elsa’s battle in Frozen 1 is her battle within her fragile heart. I understand Elsa felt more like a tragic character belonging to a Greek myth than a main hero/heroine in a Disney film, but to me, personally, that is her charm at least in the first film.
Sorry, this one I only have my own opinions to say rather than delivering anything else more elaborating.
  5. Aldone: “It felt forced that Elsa was brought back to Arendelle rather than realising her mistakes on her own. It’s nonsensical for Elsa to escape the whole kingdom after realising the horror consequence of her actions.”
My counterpoint: She was dealing with trauma just evoked by the confrontation with Anna—She just literally re-created the horror haunted in her imagination after the incident in her childhood, I personally think it’s unfair to expect her to react rationally at this scene.
  6. Aldone: “Hans' existence ruins Elsa's character arc as well because Elsa is now forced into a hero character which she was never meant to be. She has never faced her consequence.”
My counterpoint: I understand where you came from. But I wouldn’t call Elsa a hero/heroine. I would call her an interesting character, as I have no interest in classifying them into heroes or villains.
I would say: blame the masses for misinterpreting “Let It Go.”
I am sorry for sounding so irresponsible of my own claim in this particular session.
  7. Everything in the Frozen 2 session.
My response: I fully agree other than I think Elsa’s character was handled WAY WORSE than her in Frozen 1 personally. But it would require another long post. I have severe PTSD response to watching anything related to Frozen 2 because it evokes memories related to the cyberbullying against me in my country during its release. So no. I do not wish to explain why I personally dislike Frozen 2 on this site at least any time soon. And I do not wish to have anything to do with #BringElsaHome. I dislike it for its plot and character development.
 Please forgive my cowardness.
  8. So Levi, are you saying Frozen 1 is Pogger, and Elsa is a good character?
My answer: Elsa in my opinion, is relatable and compelling, as a woman whose major flaw was her need to escape her fear, but never realized that such desire would worsen her fear. She is by no means a bad person, but neither is she a pure-of-heart innocent cinnamon roll. I love her as what she was in Frozen 1 and her character is one of the most interesting for me in the Disney animation movies. And I am sorry, I tried my best, but I dislike Frozen 2 personally.
Elsa’s story in Frozen 1 was not about her personal growth, but rather about how such a powerful (magically) woman needs something with human warmth in order to have a chance for her salvation.
You might ask: Does such a “terrible(TM)” person like Elsa deserve salvation even to begin with? My response would be: In my opinion, characters respond to the situations around them with their own blind spots and their limited information like each of us is in the real world. Elsa, in my opinion, at least in Frozen 1, had tried her best despite all her faults. And that to me, earned her a shot for salvation, which was Anna.
And I love Anna as a character. But I just love flawed characters more when I consume fictional stories.
I understand why Elsa’s character arc didn’t resonate well with other people, and I respect their opinions, as everyone can have their opinions.
Finally, I just wish to write some words, and immense myself in my own words so I could reflect on myself more. The fact that I love Frozen and I can’t change my own opinions has plagued me for a long while. I know the fault is mine, and I am currently trying my best to improve my self-esteem.
At the end of the day, let me quote this from Breaking Bad to explain the essence of this whole long post:
“I did it for me. I liked it. I was good at it. And I was really, I was ALIVE.”
 LeviChou out.

Sunday Moon
Tumblr media
Hi there dear followers and Luna lovers. The day has come.
Don't edit this drawing and don't post it anywhere.
One of the two commissions I bought some weeks ago arrived. I had this artists saved in a file for when I finished a book saga I was reading and when I finally did it, I saw their art, fell in love and started thinking about different things I could ask them to do.
Finally decided to ask for the blue moon family bounding in two parts: Luna + Misha and Luna + Vanitas (spoiler: next week's post).
The profile is @/pekgna here in Tumblr, in Twitter or Instagram. And I think you can even find them with that user in hell 🤣 nah, this person is truly pana.

Cyberchase - Hey, you guys want to see something cursed?
So, I've been digging around through archives of the old Cyberchase website trying to do another reconstruction on the "How it All Started" web comics that debuted back in December 2001. Sometime around 2002, they redesigned the site. They changed the framing of the pages and removed some of the animations to help fit with the new design. I've been trying to recover everything I can from the original 2001 version, but there are a few pages where the original version appears to be gone forever.
Would you like to see something cursed that I found? I promise I haven't edited this in any way. The web comics typically took video frames from the show, tweaked them, and then added their own drawing on top. We saw some infamous examples on my post about The Hacker's most humiliating defeat, where they used screenshots from the pilot, including sacks of stolen Poddle Eggs that had nothing to do with the story.
Anyway, that wasn't really cursed. This background was used in "How It All Started" episode 3, where we get to meet the kids who would become the CyberSquad. This is from page 7, when they introduced Inez.
Here's a link to the image from an official archive of the pbskids.org website, which is running on the pbskids.org domain, so you know I'm not lying.
Tumblr media
And here's a local upload in case that one gets taken down and tumblr loses the link.
Tumblr media
Look at this. They halfway erased Inez in her own kitchen to make this background. This is clearly a frame from Season 1 Episode 4 "Snow Day to Be Exact", when Inez and her cat, Gatito, are making jelly bean cookies. Sure, they gave Inez a chocolate chip cookie, but that's hardly an equivalent exchange.
Tumblr media
And yet, this isn't the only cursed part about this image. Here's what "How It All Started" episode 3 page 7 looks like.
Tumblr media
Okay, so they had a frame of Inez in her kitchen from the show, where she has her canon skin and hair color. They want to use this frame to show Inez using her computer on the kitchen counter. So, they halfway erase Inez from the background to add their own drawing of Inez. They still have part of Inez in that background, with her canon ethnicity, and yet, they still made White Inez.
Despite Inez's ethnicity being established in the pilot, I assumed that White Inez was an anomaly from when they were trying to decide what ethnicity she would be in the final show. I had a similar excuse for the version of Inez from the character bios that used a purple star instead of a yellow one. However, this background proves that they had already written Season 1 Episode 4 "Snow Day to Be Exact" with Inez retaining her original ethnicity from the pilot.
That just makes White Inez from the web comics even more confusing. Plus, the fact that Inez was only halfway erased to make the background feels like either laziness when crafting the background or some sort of inside joke. Anyway, there's no use ranting about it now. My other post going through Inez's character bios and introduction contains my attempt at fixing these Inez drawings, for what it's worth.

It's Rewind Time
Tumblr media
Recognise this? It's the first drawing I posted on the hellsite- and my first contribution to the Beyblade fandom- from one year ago today! Really, I don't know if I've gotten any better at art, but I think my style has come into it's own at least. I'll put the original at the end of the post, but first, it's time for a little sap:
I joined the fandom near the end of 2021, after finally watching Metal Fusion all the way through. I just wanted to look at some fanart, so I went on google images and (after carefully avoiding edits of Tsubasa with his dick out(some of y'all are fucking weird)) I saw that a lot of the art was from Tumblr. I had never used Tumblr before, so I braced for the worst (i.e. more naked Tsoobs) but then- oh my god there's an active fandom??? How old are these people??? Has this been here the whole time???
I combed through the entire Tsubasa tag in a couple of hours and I was hooked. Cute art, fanfics, and ocs that were being encouraged and celebrated? Who knew? So after scraping with the mortifying idea of being known, I decided to make a blog and post some art.
I should've known that this would become a huge part of my life. Back then, I was two years out of school (drop-outs what's good) and I hadn't gotten a job. I spent every day of those two years at home on the couch, re-watching tv shows I liked as a child to fill the void. I felt like I was years behind all my friends in terms of maturity due to my special interests, and I felt ashamed and scared that I would never be able to get on with my life and move away from this dumb kids' anime made to sell toys.
But these days, making art and writing stories about this dumb kids' anime is one of the only things that makes me feel truly accomplished. I love waking up and seeing ~20 notes in my notifications because I made some dumb joke and forgot about it the night before. I love posting an angsty fanfic and having people comment "what the fuck is your problem I'm going to eat your parents. Can't wait for the next chapter😊" Like what the fuck is wrong with you people? I love you.
And of course, a special thanks to the friends I've made through this fandom (I hope it's okay to call you that). Your crazy ideas and amazing creations truly brighten my day, every day. There is something very wrong with you /pos. I wanna play roblox please can we play roblox.
After 12 years of never having an outlet for all of these ideas I had about Beyblade (and technically Bakugan but this ain't about her) and feeling too embarrassed to tell anyone about my special interest in it, I finally feel like I can fully express myself, for the first time in my life.
Thank you. Stop editing Tsubasa with his cock out.

Are the lines on your drawings stylistic choices or are they measurement/guiding lines? Either way, they are cool, but just wondered. I dont understand drawing at all, might as well be a magic spell to me. I was looking at the pencil (?) sketch of Malkin with the cheesecutter hat on.
i, uh, definitely did not google 'cheesecutter hat' until after i saved out these images. :/ sorry about that. if you'd like the other one broken down, i can do that too lol. my reading comprehension when im tired is kinda lazy i just saw 'cheese' and imediately thought 'omelette'. SO here's the 1) initial sketch, 2) 'clean' sketch, and 3) final lines for the omelette boy drawing instead:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
also i have had a cumulative of about 9 ish hrs of sleep total for the past two days so keep that in mind for if this explanation makes no sense, its not my fault. :( anyway! the way i draw definitely has changed over the years but currently im really trying to focus on the line i "see" rather than the one that is actually "there". i've been applying this to my writing for years (story vs happening truth) and you know it never occurred to me that i could do it in my drawings too till like...a few years ago. in general these lines seem to form the planes of the subject. if you google 'stanford bunny' you can find an easy example of a 3D surface turned into triangles. I do this too - see things in relative triangle proportions, except i've been doing it long before i knew how computers worked. i cant begin to tell you how long d*sney and cartooning's obsession with round building blocks of anatomical structure fucked with my brain until i finally decided i could cast that teaching aside completely.
ANYWAY sorry off subject again. so we have these sketchy under lines, and usually as im trying to find the proportions and form of the subject these lines end up being where the light/shadow hits. here i saved out the 1) 'flat colors', 2) the 'light', and 3) the 'shadow' parts on their own (i lightened the background for the 'shadow' so its easier to see):
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
the light is like four or five 'overlay' layers of pale yellow/orange. you can see how each of these layers follow one of those sketchy lines i did initially. and the same with the shadow but instead its a dark red color set to 'multiply' for each layer. and when you combine everything together you get:
Tumblr media
some bullshit :). anyway you know that anniversary edition of beauty and the beast that featured the version previewed to nyc audiences in 1990 with the glen ke*ne sketchy keyframe animation of the beast's transformation? i watched that - must have been sometime after i graduated college - and i felt robbed that THAT version was never presented as a final piece. the 'unclean' drawings had so much more life and movement and intensity to them. tldr i like the messy lines, i hate 'inking' with a passion (HATE. IT.), and when i finally allowed myself to stop giving a fuck drawing became way more interesting. but my art is shit and i will never be glen k*ane so i dont really feel like the best advocate for this "style". alas. there was this one artist on tumblr who i fucking loved whose sketches were SPECTACULAR but the asshole racists in the m*c*ha*nz*o fandom bullied her off tumblr and ive never been able to find her art anywhere else since. she was also very negative about her 'unclean' sketches and it made me so sad. there was also this other artist whose sketches were awe inspiring but all she drew was p*rn and well...we all know what happened on tumblr in december 2018.
also i 100% stole the lighting scheme from The Bear which is currently one of the most gorgeous shows on television right now in my opinion
Tumblr media
im really really sorry if this makes no sense, if im feeling motivated maybe i'll try again when my brain is fully functioning but with the actual 'cheesecutter hat' doodle ^_^

A little story for yall. Ingo and Emmet stuff at the end.
I'm going to confess here. I had a twitter account before I had a tumblr account. And though I just coincidentally decided to make an account during the time a bunch of people were migrating from twitter, I would say I'm not a twitter migrant. I would more say this situation is more akin to being switched at birth and now I just recently found my real family after being in a bad place by mistake.
Let me explain. I've been aware that tumblr exists through my life, just- never made an account for some reason. I always felt like I matched the vibe of this place regardless. I do not know why I didn't think to make an account here before. Maybe because I mostly don't care much for a lot of social media. I use Discord a lot considering it's my primary source of talking to people with how far away from people I live and people are scary offline. Aside from that, I go on youtube some and most of what I put on twitter nowadays is videos from my switch.
I feel safe here. Like I'm at home here. I can post things here and feel good about posting stuff.
Twitter on the other hand, I had only made a twitter account because of a game I played as a kid (cough cough Hungry Shark Evolution cough cough) where I could get free stuff or could keep my game progress or something like that if I connected to a twitter account. But eventually when I decided to actually make tweets on there, I felt like an outcast and nothing I ever tweeted felt "twittery" and more like very undercooked tumblr posts.
I had a reddit account for a little while years ago too but I never felt safe there. Dunno why I had even made the account. One day I posted a meme to a pokemon reddit. The meme had Ingo and Emmet on it and people kept asking what it had to do with pokemon. This was WAYYY before legends arceus back when Ingo and Emmet were.... obscure for some reason?? I really like both of them and I always have and I was aware they had obscurity I just didn't know they were obscure enough for an entire reddit page(?) to come after me for putting a meme "that had nothing to do with pokemon" on there. I'm very glad legends arceus brought more people to the submas fandom. I also made a little reddit page(?) thingy because I thought at the time that's just what you do on reddit and then forgot it existed for weeks until I went back to discover people were putting digimon porn all over it and I panic-deleted my reddit account. That was the end of that problem. Don't get me wrong, I love digimon, maybe even more than I love pokemon but there's this one meme I've seen going around tumblr. What was it? Something like the gnome saw a ding-dong and started to cry(?) I don't remember the exact wording but that was the emotion there.
I want to make friends with some people in the submas fandom on here. My favorite pokemon games may be sword and shield, but that doesn't mean I neglect other generations. I know I talk about Ryuki from sun and moon a lot on here and have mentioned Ingo and Emmet in posts before and the submas posts might have the most notes of anything I have posted.
I'm not tagging this post with them though because this post isn't entirely about them, though I am about to talk about them a lot in this post. I just feel like it wouldn't be morally ok to tag submas and all that when there's all this other stuff. Or my morals are being way too sensitive but idk
So anyhoo...
I keep wanting to reveal some au versions of Ingo and Emmet to tumblr but haven't gotten around to it among other things. Specifically from an au I have that I call the beast au. A lot of what I have is edits of official art of characters because I'm not comfortable enough with my art level just yet. I've been drawing my whole life, except I've always just tried to mimic the artstyle of whatever I was hyperfixated on and I don't actually have an artstyle of my own. I of course, still draw pics of the aus sometimes just that I like to have my art references in the official style.
Something about the beast au is that like all my aus, nobody uses the bathroom and children are had in alternative ways so they don't have all those things I don't like. Folks could go out naked if they absolutely wanted to because there's nothing to hide. In the beast au, some beasts look more beastly than others or even wear less or no clothes. They have fur though. The ones with more fur tend to be less likely to wear clothing. The beast au is not specific to Ingo and Emmet by the way. I have Grusha from scarlet and violet. I feel confident in my art skills when I look at it. This au, like many other aus of mine is very complex and even has some non pokemon characters in it. I have beast au versions of three characters from Megaman Battle Network.
I just can't show the beast au Ingo or Emmet because- their beast au versions have been in heavy need of a redesign for a long time. Also I kind of want there to be drawings of them rather than showing edited official art to tumblr. For anyone curious, they look like this right now but whenever I look at that edit, I always think something like "I can do better. I can do way better." If you saw checked out the embedded like when I mentioned the beast au Grusha, anyone could tell I can indeed do better. I intend to have drawings of them before I show improved versions to tumblr though.
The problem is that I need to wait until I have a specific kind of drawing motivation and I'm still waiting for that motivation to appear to get better images of my beast au versions of Hop and Leon. The Leon is... acceptable. And an edit of an anime screenshot. But if you couldn't tell why I embedded a link to that and not the Hop, it's because the Hop is completely unacceptable. I just have to wait for the right kind of drawing motivation.
(Some people who follow me may remember another au Hop I have shown off a lot. He isn't from the beast au, though he visits the beast world a lot because he's a universe traveler in a complex system of universes. Some universes he goes to significantly more often than others. He's friends with several beasts including beast Hop so yeah he'd go there a lot. I have an entire alternate multiverse basically. The beast world is just one of many. Would that be called "am" instead of "au"? The au he's from takes an entire google doc to explain. If you read it, feel free to scroll down past the blank pages heheh)
Though fret not, my friends. I have a drawing of normal Emmet. Putting it under a keep reading because I'm sky about showing drawings just there and I don't want to just embed the link to it in the post like the other things. I don't know why "Image Options" has been inaccessible for months when I used to be able to cover things in a sensitive content warning (I'm sensitive to showing stuff so I did that a lot)
It's kind of a rushed thing I did years ago about a dream where Emmet won a horse race and was flocked to by many women. I vividly remember this scene and Emmet saying this in the dream. It was rushed because I worried I would forget but I never forgot

hi, not long ago, you reblogged a dirk strider and bro strider piece and i saw one of your tags and i wpuld love to listen to you talk about this for an hour............ i know we've never interacted but yeah.' <3 i hope this isn't weird i just love long extremely neurodivergent conversations.
I never get asks so a LITTLE weird but not on you LMAO
This is the post they're talking about if anyone else is curious
To start off, I never finished Homestuck and never will. I never read Homestuck 2 and I never will. Whatever happened in HS2 with Ultimate Dirk and all that I'll never FULLY get, but ehh whatever you know? So with that out of the way, onto the rambling.
I think it's just so fucking interesting Dirk and Bro are the same person but also not the same person. In literal canon Bro was an abusive guardian that shouldn't have been raising a kid, but at least he was preparing Dave for the game and that was his ultimate goal in the end, whether he knew it or not. Dirk on the other hand, a splinter of Bro, is a weirdo who likes drawing his friends eating each other's babies, but ALSO preparing his friends to enter the game and making it work in any way he could. The parallels are uncanny and it just makes sense that they're splinters of one another, and in some AU's you see, older/younger versions of each other.
First off the bat about the piece is that Color Pretty. Very pretty colors and I like the gradient of the sky in the background and how it melds into a pink. Ties the piece together but also puts emphasis on the two figures we're focusing on here, which is Ult Dirk and a beta Bro it seems. Or at least a Dirk splinter.
I don't remember where Dirk said it in Homestuck because god forbid I site sources, but I feel like at some point, he told Dave he isn't Bro / isn't like him. Maybe the feelings jam on the roof in one of the bubbles? Unsure. And here's where it starts getting ironic. I don't know much about Ult Dirk, but isn't his main idea to be the bad guy he's always thought out to be because he's got big boy brains? He's following in Bro's footsteps in a way because he was a "bad guy" to Dave. And how is Ult Dirk supposed to make this cycle rinse and repeat? By creating a Bro and sending him off in a splintered timeline. Chained by your date, you're MEANT to be the bad guy, so you will be. And notice it isn't the splintered Dirk wearing the chains either, it's Ult Dirk.
At the end of the day, credit to the artist for creating such a fun piece! You literally could tell a whole story from it, even if my point of view is completely fucked and not what they meant to interpret from the piece LMAO. Hope this was enough rambling for you!
edit: of course tumblr mobile decided to not add the link to the post. its added now!
