I’ve been living as an omega for nearly a year now. I use this one specific scent on myself that calms me down, and my bed is a nest. I have sensory issues, so scent and the feeling of fabric is a huugeee thing for me. Anyway, my friend is exactly like me and whenever i’m with her we cuddle up in her nest and i can’t help but think of us as two omegas hahah. She doesn’t know about omegaverse, but i want to broach the subject with her without weirding her out. Do you have any advice on how i should try to explain it to her? Thank you ❤️
Hi anon, thanks for asking and stopping by my page! I love that miscecanis has brought you so much joy in the past almost-year (I’m the exact same with the scents/fabrics btw!!). And I love that you want to share that joy with your friend even more!!!!
I’ll be honest; I’ve introduced friends to omegaverse before, just as a plain concept, and their reactions were…..less than favorable, haha. But!!!!!! To be fair, it was because I’d made them all read an essay I wrote about the subject, and it was wayyyyy too much info at once.
So based on my past attempts, here are some ideas I want to share:
Even if your friend has foreknowledge on fanfic genres, still treat the knowledge like you would with someone who has no clue what you’re talking about. Re-contextualizing omegaverse may be crucial if your friend is already familiar with it and its more problematic aspects. Take your time, and don’t rush through with assumptions
Use comparisons/correlations that they’d understand. There are a lot of things people do already that are miscecanis-coded. I mean, who doesn’t like comforting/nostalgic smells, or the softness of their favorite blanket? Make those connections to help them understand where you’re coming from.
Introduce it gradually and as slowly as needed!!! Letting all the information soak in could take a while, and that’s ok. I’d try feeling it out by introducing one or two elements with little to no jargon, just to start. Let her curiosity guide the conversation
Put an emphasis on why the lifestyle makes you so happy. Your friend loves you and wants to support you. It helps immensely if you can give her some takeaways so she’ll know how to support you best!!
If she has questions, I’d encourage you to be vulnerable. It can be hard to explain what you need or what you want her to know, but it’s vital to her understanding. Answer openly/honestly to your best ability, encourage her to research for herself, or even research the answers together if it’s something you’re unsure of.
Gently practice what you want to say! You don’t need to rehearse/prepare like it’s a presidential speech, but you should come in with intention. Just as an example, you could write down your thoughts/feelings/takeaways, and imagine reading them from their perspective. Seeing what you want to talk about on paper will help you assess how to simplify, elaborate, etc.
Don’t forget you are setting the tone of the conversation. It will only be as overwhelming/scary as you make it for yourself. It can be as formal or as casual as you want it to be. It can happen any time or place you choose. If it feels like it’s too much pressure, remember that above all else, this is just you telling your friend about something you love.
I am so excited for you and this step in your miscecanis journey. I wish you the best of luck on talking with your friend!!!! And please, please, please feel free to come back here and let me know how everything goes!!!!!!!!!

hi i love how u draw ur ocs and the way u give them personalities and interests and everything ough!! they seem so real and well developed and its wonderful!! have a beautiful day. and use this as a chance to ramble about them if you want to :)
!!!!!!!! AUAUAUUUUU THIS IS SOOOO SWEET THANK YOU SO SO SO SO MUCH!!!!!!!!!!! I APPRECIATE THIS A LOT TY!!!!!!!! ohhhh im so glad you like them i never really thought to post about them im so so soooo glad that you enjoy their vibes and that they seem realistic!!!!!!!! AAGAGAGGA!!!!!! ouhhhhh brother im stimming its epic for meeeee!!
you made em blush!!!!!!! im so glad my characters are realistic oggg i really strive for that!!! i always make sure theyre real stupid with some stuff and real smart with other stuff, and i always give them at least one thing to be autistic about. for scully, hes good at cooking and he sucks with talking and hes autistic about knives and meat!!!! teddys good at talking to people and keeping from rocking the boat, but in the story he struggles to do more morally grey things (not because of morals, hes just got no idea how to go about kidnapping someone or torturing them for answers! he gets better at it though) and hes autistic about taking photos and also he really likes pastries theyre yummy treats for him that he cannot resist!
ohhhh i have a few other guys such as jude and sterling that are also awesome but just havny been on the noggin. judes a weird little dork mortician with medical trauma and they have a pet turtle that they love sooo much and sterlings a guy who fucking sucks hes a little office boy and hes homophobic and transphobic but it mostly just hurts him because hes absolutely a trans woman without realizing and he was in an unhappy hetero marriage where he kept hooking up with men then feeling shame for it. and hes divorced about it not only literally but in soul and spirit.
AND! while im here heres scully and teddys playlists!!! mostly based on lyrics and vibes as opposed to tune (and as a bonus heres sterlings, but jude doesnt have a well fleshed out playlist rn)

Have you given yourself a break? Because you deserve one! especially if you’ve been posting with no long breaks that sparks the “Are you Dead?” asks in the past 10 years.
We don’t get paid to update, so don’t treat your blog like a job and burn yourself out. Do it because it’s fun, because you have a story you’d like to tell, because you love the community, your friends, your OCs- Definitely don’t do it for money, there is no money to be made here outside of commissions and I’ve probably only made like $500 with commissions in 10 years, that’s like $50 a year, 0/10

Trying? Trying??? By learning. By succeeding!
(about this and my text under the cut)
this is very nice actually thank you so much <3 <3 and like, i probably do need to give myself more credit in general but also i am still very much learning and stumbling and figuring digital art out (and for the most part it is so fun)
I’m gonna ramble about this a bit so bear with me and also i apologize lol, but that art was done after a month of getting increasingly more frustrated with everything turning out so badly and eventually realizing that I was trying to 1. copy a certain look/style that i’ve internalized is what fanart and digital art should look like and is very far away from my style/comfort zone 2. i was trying to do everything digital allows without being comfortable with it or understanding it
so (and this took me a month to realize ? ??) i did what i already knew from doing acrylic and oil painting in the past and could somewhat easily transfer to digital without having to know more than the basics, like i didn’t use a lot of the things digital provides or allows for. i used layers for my own peace of mind but without actually needing them and did some color adjusting (honestly, the color adjusting digital lets you do is such a blessing to me) but the only fancy way i really utilized the medium was making it a gif (which is so fun and a lot easier than i would have thought, like honestly watch me make any future art into gifs too) but there are so many things you can do with the medium with settings/effects, different brushes, tools to use in the process etc that i just do not understand what they are or how to implement them so i am very slowly learning digital art as a whole new medium rather than just being able to use it to adapt what i already know

hey you were wondering so i wanted to let you know that nobody has talked about you in either of the servers. and i know it's really tough when the blocks come from people you really like or were previously friendly with, but i think a lot of people block not because they hate you or even anything close to that. but just because they're not wanting to see the things you post about. i hope this makes you feel a little bit better, but i do really understand why it feels bad man, hang in there!
thank you i was genuinely wondering if someone had said something because it seems all of these users blocked me around the same time
but the thing is my content hasnt changed at all recently. i post the same stuff i always do. some of these users didn't follow me and never interacted with my posts in the first place, so it sucks that i cant look at their blogs anymore because i was a genuine fan of their content. some of them are people who were mutuals with me and have even interacted with me countless times, saying they love my blog and enjoy talking to me. im just not sure what happened but from my perspective, it feels like a switch has been flipped. one day i was a normal member of the fandom, the next im the social pariah. i just cant help but wonder what i did to earn so much backlash
