Since it is a pretty long list including synopses (stolen from the podcast feed or website because I'm Bad at summaries and in some cases it's been a while since I listened) I'm going to put it under a cut.

I've separated the list into "Complete" (either finished or cancelled) and "Ongoing" podcasts. Some have additional comments by me. Current favorites are marked orange. My eternal beloved are Our Fair City and Wolf 359.

This podcast is really fucked up at times if you think about it]

Lies Chronically Ill/Injured People Tell Themselves:

1. I Am a Burden Who Only Takes From Others and Can Never Give Back

We all have things that we feel we SHOULD be able to provide. As a guy, it KILLS me that I can’t do things like shovel the driveway, help carry heavy items, or have a job that could make me a breadwinner for someone.

Don’t undersell what you do bring though! For one thing, chronically ill/injured people tend to be masters of empathy, not to mention we get pretty knowledgeable on the medical system. If you aren’t... don’t fret over it! If you can’t do something, then don’t! Focus on what you CAN do instead!

2. I Am Undeserving of Love Because Who Would Take on a Burden Like Me?

This one is another huge struggle for a lot of people. I know as a guy, I feel the added pressure of being worthless if I can’t provide financially for a girl. (No matter how progressive people may be, this progressiveness tends to vanish when their daughters’ well being are concerned), but I know just as many girls who say the same things.

“How can someone love me when I just am stuck in bed all day?” “Why would someone choose me if I could never have kids?” “Who would choose a spouse who may not be able to have sex?”

Look. I’ll be honest, I have no wise advice on this one as to find someone who is willing to support you on your struggles. Nor can I be dense and say “You’re just misreading people!” because let’s admit it... our lives are tough and there are many who would choose not to join us.... what I can say though... is I have had friends who had chronic illnesses. Some could never have sex. Some would require tons of medical expenses. Some were missing limbs or body parts. One was even pretty much guaranteed to die before she turned 30.... And they ended up getting married, and loved, and supported. I don’t know what the future holds for you, but I do know it IS possible! So don’t put yourself down or give up hope!

3. I Have to Work Harder to Keep Up With Everyone or Else I Will be a Failure!

This world has a main road, but that main road has a lot of cracks... and there are probably more people in this world who have fallen through the cracks, than walk on the main road. But we feel like everyone in this world is on the main road because once people fall through the cracks they tend to be overlooked even though there are so many of them.

It is not fair, nor is it doable to be expected to keep up with others when you are carrying a different burden. We have the Paralympics for a reason. Would you ask a man with one leg to race against the Olympic sprinters? Would you ask someone carrying a massive boulder to outrun someone without one?

And in all honesty, it is not always as cut and dry as “Accept you’ll get 4th or 5th place.” Our world tends to try to put us on rails. We make everything systematic and anything that doesn’t fit within our metrics is considered broken. We often judge people more by their process than their results! But the way laid out by others as the “Right way” isn’t always the only or even the best way! 

Learn how YOUR body works! I was a horrible student in school until I finally gave up relying on teachers and just studied the way I enjoyed it. I figured at that point “As long as I pass, what else matters.” but had the added surprise when I jumped from a 60′s-70′s student at best to my lowest grade being a 94! It doesn’t always work out this well, but your body is yours. No one else can tell you how it works. Learn from what people have done in the past but look for the way YOU work best! When you look back you realize, none of the biggest world changers really ever lived their lives by the book anyways!

4. I Have To Get Better So I Can Have a Life!

To an extent, this makes sense. Without energy, or finances, and with a schedule stuffed to the gills with doctors appointments meaning you can never go far from home... it is hard to feel like there is really much you can do... but... at the same time....

YOU ARE ALIVE NOW!

You may not have the finances to do what you want. You may not have the social life that you enjoy. You may not have an overabundance of time or energy... But you are alive RIGHT now! You are allowed to live!

Write that book you always wanted! Learn a new language! Cook yourself a big meal! You may tell yourself “BUT I HAVE SO MUCH OTHER STUFF I SHOULD BE FOCUSING ON INSTEAD!” 

Look! That stuff will be there whether you focus on it 24/7 or 12/5! Don’t let it get out of hand, but if you aren’t going to be able to solve it by worrying about it more then don’t! Spend your time doing things that will revitalize you, help you grow, and give you some interesting stories to tell once this is all over!

5. I Am Not Allowed to Be Happy or Have Fun Until I Am Better!

This one is a tough one as it ties into our impostor syndrome. That horrible feeling that we get every time we start to enjoy ourselves or smile in public of “Oh no! What if people assume I’ve been faking this whole time?!?!?!”

You are allowed to laugh. You are allowed to smile. You are allowed to have good things happen to you. Yeesh, there is no time in life that it is more important to have happy moments than through hardships!

Being happy or enjoying yourself from time to time through hardships isn’t a sign that your hardships were never that hard. It is a sign that you are fighting forward. That you aren’t letting this take over your life. And plus, as human beings we NEED hope and happiness... we die both mentally and physically without it

6. There is No Future After This

This is one that I personally struggle with... if we count the 6 years of trauma as a kid that originally gave me PTSD, and these last 7+ years of pushing as hard as I can only to fail harder and harder (including these last 2.5 years that have been giving me a whole new layer of trauma on top of my previous trauma) I’m reaching the point where more than half my life has been going through miserable, destructive times where I lose most things that matter to me and find myself alone at the start again in a dark place. It is hard... honestly... Anyone who follows my account and sees my tagless venting posts know that there are more than enough times I question why I even try anymore when I don’t even know what’s left of me...

But there was a movie I watched a while ago... another cheesy hallmark movie, but it was a good one as far as hallmark movies go. I remember they had this one line in it that really stuck with me.

“I’ve lost everything 3-4 times now! It’s the perfect place to start!”

Now I’m not as optimistic as that ambitious old man from the movie was... but I do know this.... You never know what life can hold. The same way you can lose everything that matters to you in a year, I’ve seen people gain more than they ever thought possible in a week. Not to say we are all about to win the lottery or by some miracle wake up completely healed of all afflictions... but I do believe that if it was possible to have things go this bad, it is also possible for things to go much better.

And let’s admit it. You might be thinking “Oh! But I’m not strong enough to make it happen!” and you’d be right... you aren’t. But honestly who is? We live in a world where tons of people succeed or fail... and very few I can say “earned it.”

Life IS unfair, but if it wasn’t, we’d all be dead! What we really get upset about is that it seems to be more unfair in some peoples’ favour than our own. But life is tough. The fact that any of us live is a miracle in itself. Don’t limit what the future holds for you based on what you feel you’re able to do. You aren’t a static person, and this world doesn’t rise or fall on your shoulders either! (even though it feels like that most mornings). Give it your best with what you’ve got every day, and realize even if each day feels like a year, this is still only a season of life. Personally I want to fight and survive long enough to see a day where this all seems like it was worth it!

7. I Will Never Be Self Sufficient!

The lie in this one isn’t that you will be self sufficient! The lie is that people assume ANYONE is self sufficient!

Look. Do you see people growing their own food? Even if they do, do they grow their own fertilizer? Even if they do, did they build their house from scratch, their car, their fridge, do all their electrical work, never once look up anything on the internet?!?!?! No!

We are NOT a self sufficient species. From the minute we are born we NEED people just to stay alive let alone to succeed! So you have to rely on people in a way you don’t see others needing to rely on people! Does an electrician complain that he needs to call someone to fix the backed up pipes when the plumber doesn’t??? No! That would be stupid! And to try and fix it on his own would be stupider! 

You are ALLOWED to rely on others. You are ALLOWED to ask for help. This doesn’t make you any less of a person! This makes you human!

8. I’m Not Worth It . . .

This is something I struggled with even before I realized just how much was stacked against me from the start... I remember one time, someone very precious to me sat down in front of me and for 15 minutes she said nothing else but “YOU ARE WORTHY!” She repeated it over and over again in different ways, not letting me talk and refusing to say anything else until I finally just accepted that I maybe was. Times change, and she may not be around to say that anymore, but those words still stick with me, and that moment still pops in my head every time I am feeling really down on myself like a planted warrior to fight against my internal self doubt...

There are many things in our lives that make us feel worthless.... “I messed up and hurt them.” “I have a lot of health concerns.” “I am not attractive.” “I have a perverted mind.” “I don’t fit with what society says I should be.” “My parents/people who I care about said I wasn’t good enough.” The list goes on... but YOU ARE WORTHY!

“But I don’t deserve to be happy!” YOU DO!

“But I don’t deserve anyone to put up with me.” YOU DO!

“But I don’t deserve a happy life” YOU DO!

“But I don’t deserve a second chance.” YOU DO!

Don’t let anyone or anything tell you otherwise, LEAST of all yourself!

I don’t know who you are. I don’t know what you’re going through. I don’t know what you’ve done or haven’t done.... but I can tell you this right now. You are a one of a kind beautiful life. You are allowed to exist in this world, you are allowed to flourish, you are allowed to enjoy your time with it and interact with others. What’s more, you aren’t just put up with, you are NEEDED! Because there is only one of you out there, and this world needs you. Treat yourself well, and let yourself know just how valuable you are. You are you, and that is beautiful!

Shorties - Spider-Man (PS4)

Take one part Arkham City, one part Watch Dogs 2, one part Grand Theft Auto IV. Blend well. Bake for roughly two years, and you’ve got Spiderman for PS4. Is it a good game? Yes. Is it a great game? Possibly. Does it do a single thing that hasn’t been done before? Not a damn one. But if you consider Marvel’s habit of releasing reasonably consistent, enjoyable films that lack a single original bone in their body, you can quite clearly see the cloth from which Spider-Man has been cut. For what it’s worth I enjoyed this game far more than I enjoy any of their movies, but that doesn’t change the fact that the game itself is hugely derivative. There’s not going to be a lot to this experience that you won’t have indulged elsewhere, and perhaps enjoyed more, but I don’t think that should overshadow all the things Spider-Man gets right.

The Webbed One is one of the biggest comic book characters that I’ve never had a particular interest in, and despite being one of Marvel’s most well-known superheroes, he seems to be one of the only main-line Marvel icons that hasn’t been treated particularly well by media outside the comics. His movies are largely tat, the TV shows largely forgettable, and his games range from fairly good to outright poor. I’m not sure what it is - the difficult balance of tone, or his rather inconsistent and sometimes goofy skills, but the man in the bright red leotard has always come off more a figure of ridicule than a lot of his contemporaries. What Spider-Man the 2018 game shows us is that, when given a decent writer, and the technology to properly bring to life his abilities, Peter Parker becomes quite a thrilling character to watch. Yeah, he’s a goofball whose jokes are a little too in-your-face, and yeah most of his emotional turmoil is wrought upon himself by his own juvenile emotionality, but he’s so...different...from so many of the others. He’s the antithesis of Batman with his youth and his eternal light-heartedness. He’s brilliant like Tony Stark, but completely lacks the means to finance his pursuits, and regularly suffers from the fact that saving the city is pro-bono work. He LOVES his hometown, and unlike many superheroes who protect primarily out of a sense of duty, he does it out of a genuine adoration for the city he lives in, and the people in it. And this is all translated so well by the game - through the writing, through the acting, and through the mechanics. Swooping around New York City is an absolute joy - I think I only fast traveled a handful of times, and only because you get an achievement for doing so. NYC is large, but not so large that webslinging becomes cumbersome, and the act itself is so fun, especially as you get a hang of his skills, that the act of *traveling* becomes one of the most enjoyable aspects of the game. That’s unheard of in an open world game.

On top of that, Peter and his family and colleagues are, for the largest part, a well-rounded and likable group of people. Even the villains - well-known or otherwise - are entertaining to witness, despite only having a handful of scenes cumulatively. Taking place eight years after taking on the Spider-Mantle (ayyyy), Peter works in a lab with his mentor Otto Octavius. In this incarnation, Otto is a brilliant scientist, but stricken by a degenerative motor neuron disorder. This inspires his tireless and dedicated efforts to develop dextrous artificial limbs that can be controlled by thought - not ‘as good’ as real limbs, but better. When Otto’s former friend and now-rival Norman Osborn confiscates some of Otto’s work and sets him back at square one, Otto is struck by a frustrated vengeance that precipitates his downfall. It’s a compelling story, and a superbly acted and animated one to boot. The characters look photorealistic a times, and together with some excellent performances from skilled voice actors, including that of prolific Spider-Man voice actor Yuri Lowenthal, the stories of the characters are brought to life in as true a fashion as any of the Marvel Cinematic Universe films. You might not notice as you fly around the world, but many of the lines delivered by Lowenthal have been recorded twice - once for when you’re standing around while he delivers them, and once for when Spider-Man is exerting himself. Yeah, they recorded the dialogue twice, so that it would sound different if Spider-Man is in transit. It’s something they didn’t need to do, but once you notice it, you realise that you couldn’t live without it. Details like this indicate a serious dedication on the part of the creative team to make a game that is greater than the sum of its parts, which is really one of the main reasons Spider-Man lives to be a success story rather than a disappointing footnote. 

It cannot be understated how derivative it is - Horizon: Zero Dawn caught flack for failing to reinvent the wheel, and yet Spider-Man has garnered nothing but praise despite being a far-greater offender when it comes to regurgitating cliche mechanics. Offsetting this, however, is the fact that it makes an effort to scatter its content - releasing it upon the player piecemeal, rather than vomiting markers all over the map from the get-go like the Assassin’s Creed series. It takes a break every couple of story missions in order to let the player indulge the side content, and when all that side content is done, it won’t give you more until you complete the next few missions. This simple factor makes the environment of Spider-Man feel as if it’s responding to the story, rather than the story simply occurring within the environment, and this ties the entire experience - gameplay and mechanics - together as one long reciprocal arc as opposed to leaving it feeling like the static sandbox that it could otherwise have easily turned into. But the same ol’ fatigue did set in once or twice during my 20-odd hours of play. The game is riddled with tired open-world sandbox tropes that might have killed it, had they not just been ever-so-slightly tweaked in the way that they have been. 

And I suppose that this goes to show just how little effort it can take to separate a tired release from a lauded one. Spider-Man does have a lot more going for it than this one thing - the writing, visuals, and mechanics, as mentioned, are all top-notch for the most part - but had the rest of the game more closely mirrored some of the more lackluster open-world games, then it would almost certainly have taken the entire product down a few notches on everyone’s list. In short, Spider-Man for PS4 is no game-changer, and if you’re even the slightest bit over the typical open-world formula, then you’ll feel the familiar pangs of weariness at certain times, but these feelings appear only as a shadow of what they might otherwise have been. The game’s strengths far outweigh its weaknesses, and while the best of the Arkham series still trumps this game in terms of overall quality and relevance in pushing forwards the superhero genre, you’ll certainly get your money’s worth here.

recently but that's not all in addition the patch also brought with it some new one Sabre maps for existing songs [Music] I'm a professional don't pay Batman for a joke off I'm gonna tee man over bottom ball getting closer and closer saw Thursday was also a big day for fans of PSV our exclusive blood and truth the DLC is finally here and features a ton of new content from my most anticipated edition new game+ which will allow you to keep all your guns modifications and collectibles from your first playthrough to a new harder difficulty leaderboards and new challenge stages what truth is already one of our favorites but this update gives us plenty of reasons to go back play again we need to push back hard or we're finished [Music] the PlayStation store is having a huge summer sale and they're including a ton of PlayStation VR games the sale runs until August 20th and although not every game is on sale in every region there's a ton of crossover on this list these 14 games might not be the best games for PlayStation VR but they're definitely ones I think you shouldn't miss at their current prices [Music] it's no secret that we didn't love Arizona sunshine at lunch and that $40 price tag doesn't really help anything but after a bunch of patches updates new four-player horde modes dlc incoming and tons of zombies to take down it's tough to argue with its sale price of $14 it's rare that we get triple a flat-screen games ported over to PlayStation VR Borderlands is proof as to why it should be done more often the developers have already patched in aim support and are promising all the DLC from Borderlands 2 proper to drop sometime this summer so consider grabbing it now while it's cheap [Music] Farpoint was the first game to show us just how amazing the aim controller could be in VR but a fun single-player campaign wasn't enough for developer impulse gear they also gave us free two-player co-op missions and the 1v1 mode unlike any I've ever seen before if you have an aim controller power point should be in your library [Music] when I live streams here they lie a few weeks back it was just for fun but as I was playing I couldn't stop admiring the amazingly detailed scenery and couldn't stop gawking at all the perverted denizens of this disturbing City it's a walking simulator at heart but it's well-designed scary and beautiful everything runs downhill here it's tough to argue with severing limbs and blasting away zombies in VR and killing floor incursion does it the style stunning graphics insane bosses and a two-player co-op campaign is just a beginning with this excellent story driven action game bollocks now things are getting serious this virus is mucking up everything [Music] koan is somewhat of a rarity on playstation vr while it's true that the graphics are some of the blur iasts ever seen in the headset it's also a fully fleshed out fully realized adventure in a small mysterious snowy town it takes a while for things to heat up but once they do it's hard to stop playing [Music] paranormal activity is one of my favorite horror franchises and the VR game doesn't disappoint the controls are somewhat of a hurdle to overcome and the game isn't terribly long but there's a lot to do and see in this house and if it doesn't scare you you're probably not human [Applause] it's seldom that games were really looking forward to actually meet nevermind exceed our expectations but that's exactly what the persistence did last year as a rogue light sci-fi action game the persistence lets you play the way you want upgrade your weapons shields and abilities every time you die which you will a lot [Music] whereas originally debuted on the Dreamcast in ps2 back in November of 2001 but even then it was obvious that this rail shooter' music rhythm game was destined for something more in the first time you see resident Ben in a VR headset you'll know that this is how res was always supposed to be played [Music] as possibly one of the best-looking crow enhanced psvr games robinson the journey lanes you stranded an alone on a planet overrun with dinosaurs but don't mistake this for an action or survival game robinson is a massive puzzle solving exploration collectathon filled with stunning visuals and a white but effective narrative Robinson almost never goes on sale so grab it while you can [Music] the people come to the static institute of retention of volunteers every time there's a huge PSN sale static always seems to be there ridiculously discounted and we're always there right alongside telling you to pick it up so if you haven't yet I'm not sure what else to say static is such a unique puzzle game probably my favorite on the platform where your hands are trapped inside a box and every box has different controls to unlock it just buy it a release party I think you'll enjoy it [Music] outside a beat saver thumper might be the best rhythm game on PlayStation VR the concept is crazy as are the sights and sounds your chrome beetle flying down a track through hell at top speed while growing to maneuver the twists turns and obstacles with the appropriate button presence will have you scared to blink they ask you a question why does your God swim in such filth when people ask me what my favorite psvr game is I always tell them Resident Evil 7 but the Exorcist holds a special place in my heart because it's one of the few games that was so scary I often had trouble pushing forward with demonic themes and evil lurking around every corner this one shook my Catholic school operating to its core there's nothing better than horror movies roller coasters and light gun shooters except for maybe when miraculously developer supermassive games was able to combine all those things into one amazing psvr exclusive until dawn Russia blood was panned by mainstream media at lunch for being a cheap cash in on the untilled on franchise but as usual the critics were dead wrong big screen VR is already popular another VR headsets but the developers confirmed this week that the app is finally coming the PlayStation VR in either late 2019 or early 2020 big screen allows you to hang out with your real friends in virtual reality and watch movies together in a virtual theater it also features cross-platform play public and private rooms and variety of environments [Music] million sky big VR update could drop any day now the official word is summer 2019 but that window only gives us a few more weeks to work with so we want to be prepared starting tomorrow Monday the 29th I'll be streaming the non VR version of no man's sky daily to prepare for the inevitable VR patch so come along for the ride as I take on my first non VR game in quite a while help me figure out what I'm supposed to be
