Currently rewatching Encanto because I wanted to, and I think I’ve just noticed my favourite animation detail ever.

During waiting for a miracle, when everything is slowed down, you can see at least one of the hummingbirds.

And it’s flapping how hummingbirds flap.

For those who aren’t aware of hummingbirds wing pattern, their wings don’t flap up and down like normal birds. Instead they do a sort of figure 8 motion with them.

And the animators included that. They animated the right wing pattern!

So excuse me while I just fall in love with this film a bit more.

film review #2: la la land

i am a mess. an absolute bawling mess. i understand why this movie has 6 academy wins.

la la land is a romantic musical directed by damien chazelle. it stars none other than one of my favourite boys, ryan gosling as well as emma stone, finn wittrock and john legend.

ill be honest with you, i went into this movie knowing absolutely nothing about it. i used to love musicals as a kid but i haven't watched any recently so I'm fresh to the world of musicals. but this, it exceeded all of my expectations. it was seriously a masterpiece.

cinematography, genuinely, 10/10. linus sandgren did not disappoint, in fact, I'm inspired to search up more of their work. something about how the movie was shot was seriously amazing. the mood set, immaculate; perfect. truthfully, the cinematography was flawless.

acting, 10/10 again. emma stone and ryan gosling on their own are already amazing and well-known actors, so i went in with high expectations. there isn't much more to say, the emotions executed, with lack of better wording, perfectly. i hate to use the word perfect again, but that is seriously the only word i can think of.

music and singing, maybe a 9.5/10, i mean everyone who sang was amazing and i was incredibly impressed, but the start i was not too fussed on that song, plus it was very chaotic and i felt it lost a bit of what it had, but maybe my tv was too quiet I'm not sure. everything else was seriously so good. and their song, the song sebastian kept playing, i think ill cry everytime i hear that song now.

the only other movie i can compare this to with cry factor for me, is marriage story, which i bawled in, but not like this. this, was revolutionary in my movie world, and trust me, i have seen a lot of movies and consider myself quite the movie activist. this film is not for everybody at all, some may find it boring, or too sing-y, but again, it was perfect. i don't think i even have it in me to watch it twice, at least not for a long time. i don't want to cry like i did again. there were a few times throughout their genuine love for each other made me tear up happy tears because of how loving and happy they were. but from the 'five years later' onwards, non-stop tears.

im just so confused though. why did it have to end like that, why weren't they end game. the fact they both accepted their fate at the end sent me a sense of relief, but i couldn't shake the initial shock. and why, why on earth did they have to show the 'what could have been' scene, where it was her life how it was, but instead with sebastian as her partner. just thinking about it is making me tear up again, and i actually have no stopped crying until right now, and i finished the movie around half an hour ago.

he was already scared of love, but she fixed him, he unboxed his apartment because of her, followed his dreams because of her, and same to her, he caused her to also chase her dreams. they were there for each other. they were good. i am utterly and totally heartbroken. he deserved so much more, they deserved each other. but its life, not every story is going to have the desired ending, and not every love story will either.

i loved this movie, so much, too much. i think ill talk about it non-stop for a week and then calm back down. for now, I'm going to put it in my 'top movies' on my carrd. is there like a movie reviews website where i can put the movies i watched and make a list of top movies and review them? maybe i should invest in that...

this movie was a revolution.

okay but guys you don’t understand my love for the film lighting goncharov. It’s perfect and to me it perfectly encapsulates the way lighting can enhance a films effect especially in that era. the way it enhances the mood of the scenes and how it compliments the hidden symbolisms. now i’m not 100% sure but i’m pretty sure they used the same three- strip technicolor process like in the godfather

somehow though the colors in this film just hit different especially the fruit stand scene the reds were just so saturated and vibrant and let me say it is one of my favorite parts of the film

Lucifer loved the kind personality you had, but sometimes he would wish you’d rage at the person who actually pissed you off instead of his ducks.

When he heard you slam the door to your shared room he knew you were in a bad mood. Rightfully so, this bitch on the side of the street tried to spill coffee on you.

“Can you believe how disrespectful some people can be?!”
