2 and 5 for Dove and 6 and 17 for Taralin for the OC ask game :-)
ooh thank you love. some fun questions here. under a cut but it's not any longer than usual jhdgfjh.
warnings: death. violence. coercion? nothing descriptive tho.
dove dove dove dove------
2. What's something about your OC that people wouldn't expect just from looking at them?
dove stands 5'4 on a good night, and looks sickly. overtired, anemic, and bruised at her joints. she holds herself well enough, and has a polite air, but she doesn't look like much. a strong wind could probably knock her over-- except...
she's fast. weirdly fast for a kindred without celerity. quick reflexes, and a remarkable ability to disappear into the shadows. obfuscate and oblivion both help, in that department, but she was fine before she got those too.
5. How far is your OC willing to go to get what they want?
dove has little holding her to human morals. she's only been kindred for a little over a year, but that's long enough. especially paired with how long she was ghouled. fifteen years of breaking and entering by night, working as pa by day, hacking, sabotaging, and general business espionage has left dove with a 'get shit done' attitude, and a want to look after herself.
but... now that she's free -- truly free, no blood bond, absent sire, and no connection to either sect -- she doesn't have... wants. she's safe, that was her big one. safe space, safe haven, safe. she's safe. she has financial security. she's fine, doesn't need money, and knows enough to get more if she needs it. she has her music, has her privacy, all she really wants is perhaps a mawla. someone willing to make trades.
she's willing to dip her toes back into the scene. maybe she'll make some... friends.
----------------------------------------
as typical for taralin, have some almost narrative things <3 one is... remarkably succinct. the other. less so.
6. How easily could your OC be convinced to do something that goes against their moral compass?
taralin is oh-so-good at following orders. really, an ideal find for the morrigan. they lost their squeamishness quickly, in the realm of war. linger here, stab someone there, be a pretty face and a wicked tongue, it was all part of the job description, and really, you signed up for this, you should expect me to make use of your skill set, my vassal. except the blood on their hands stains and lingers. they ache and shudder with it, bile rising in their throat if they linger too long on the memories.
but that ends. in the realm of war, a dead body is a set piece more than a problem. that sort of... sensitivity, is scorned.
the first time they call an eldritch blast, they kill someone. they don't know his name. just know they were to... remove him.
there's a voice in their ear as they do, well done.
they don't want to, but they're in too deep already.
survival comes first now.
it's remarkable how quickly they throw away the morals instilled by their mothers. (they are bitter about it -- a better person would at least try. gods, they didn't even try. just gave up. turned to war and blood.)
but-- they sigh, no point dwelling. they just have to get through this.
they have to. whatever it takes.
17. What is the worst thing you have put your OC through story-wise?
taralin has seen-- so many horrors in their time. but one phrase lingers in their mind, rings so clearly years later.
"welcome to my service, vassal."
words set in stone. words spinning their fate.

OKAY HERE WE GO LET’S TALK.
- there was nothing I disliked?? Like sure it had its flaws as all big budget spectacles do but the only glaringly obvious flaw would be if you liked Adam Warlock, which I do not. That fucking gold himbo twink was fucking hilarious.
- ROCKET’S BACKSTORY WAS SOMEHOW WORSE THAN I IMAGINED??? I played him for like six years on DWRP and had tons of headcanons, do you know how HARD it is for canon to be more heartbreaking than my brain??
- I’m so glad my animal abuse squick does not apply to CGI animals. If your animal abuse squick does apply to CGI, you will have a BAD TIME.
- The Rocket content in this movie was off the chain considering he spent half of it in a coma.
- I am always a slut for “your favorite character is the most important thing in the world to a villain and he’ll stop at nothing to get him.” So, uh, good job Gunn!!! You read me for filth pal.
- Love how “I’m lobotomizing my blorbo because no one else is doing it” in LitMoR reflected real life. Let’s lobotomize all my favorite characters.
- BABY ROCKET WAS SO FUCKING CUTE. MUMBLING HIS WAY THROUGH TECHNOBABBLE. I ALMOST DIED. Just all the baby Rocket. He is a sweet little angel.
- how the fuck did you give that raccoon a Philly accent my dude.
- High Evolutionary going down as one of my favorite marvel bad guys because of being OTT and so unhinged his own people were like dude chill.
- “you’re unreasonably obsessed with that animal.” BITCH ME TOO.
- I assume Rocket’s crying fit after Lylla got shot was Bradley Cooper and if so he and Spike Spencer need to go sit in a room and think about what they’ve done to my heart. People doing gut wrenching sobs with only their voice gut me.
- A member of the audience SCREAMED when Lylla got shot. That sums it up.
- love that Rocket ripped that guy’s face off. Love that he didn’t blow his head off. You left him to die!! You could’ve finished him off!!
-PHYLLA-VEL????
- COSMO WAS BEST GIRL. Her being so mad and distressed that Kraglin called her a bad dog was the best running gag.
- we got the first onscreen appearance of Rocket introducing himself as “Rocket Raccoon.” Bless his heart.
- When Rocket almost died and Lylla sent him back, my sister turned to me sobbing and said she hated me for making her like these movies and me through tears said “yeah I know.”
-We have not ruled out Asexual Rocket which was the only headcanon I wanted to keep and Lylla was RIGHT THERE. So I was concerned.
- I love how mean 2014 Gamora is. She’s the best.
- I don’t have a lot of thoughts that aren’t about Rocket, guys. If you want more thoughts, go to the person who isn’t obsessed with a raccoon.

Fjord
2. Favorite canon thing about this character?
3. Least favorite canon thing about this character?
25. What was your first impression of this character? How about now?
2. Favorite thing: so much, but I particularly like how good and effective he is at herding the cats of the Mighty Nein. There are many reasons why they bonded so tightly, but a factor was that Fjord early on was insistent that they figure out ways to work together. You can tell how carefully his backstory was constructed; part of why Sabian and Vandran are such beloved figures despite almost no screentime is because you can get such a clear an outline of them from Fjord’s behaviors and discussions that is honestly more thorough than that of some fully introduced NPCs. Getting back to the original point, you can tell from early on that this is someone accustomed to team dynamics under pressure (ie, a sailor). In general, everything we learned about Fjord, as it was revealed, made me go “ohhhhhhh yeah that makes sense,” which is in my opinion the sign of incredibly skilled storytelling and character building.
3. This is tough; this is a character I truly love and I am always team “this person’s flaws are an important part and erasing them means you do not fucking get it," so like, I am in favor of his perfectionism and control issues and closed-off-ness and in case it's not clear from my Midst blogging and which characters I'm drawn to there, nor my enjoyment of Vex, a particular vibe of which he is one of the best examples. I also, admittedly, am defensive because while people watching C2 now without all the fandom discourse of C2 tend to enjoy him, he got done rather dirty by the fandom and was the recipient of basically every single thing I dislike that fandoms do (he is not alone; Keyleth got this with the added complication of rampant misogyny, and Veth got shades of this too, and all have similarly been received much better by people watching without fandom influence). So, for example, while I would love to have seen more of his backstory in-game, I am hesitant to say that because, well, ever notice how Caduceus was sidelined by the party and we didn't explore his past but Fjord avoided his backstory? Ever notice how Caleb's asshole behaviors are because of trauma but Fjord (grew up in a Dickensian orphanage, bullied over his race to the point of willing self-harm from a young age, betrayed, stabbed, and left to drown at which point he was forced into a warlock pact he didn't remember) is just an asshole? (I'm saying this as someone who very much likes Caduceus and Caleb, but this was blatant from the fandom, and pretty constant too.) So to be clear I think he has plenty of flaws, as a complex character, but I do not dislike those flaws as canonical aspects of him.
Anyway. The joke but also kind of true answer is, as Laura herself pointed out, why did he wait 7 entire years to propose to Jester.
25. I liked him from the start but Beau was actually my favorite in early C2! I liked the top table (and what faint impressions I had of Yasha) from the start, but Fjord had the Percy and Vex trait of "guy who can act normal in a social situation when no one else can" for the first stretch of the campaign, which meant he was high up there but didn't move up in my estimation until he started to reveal how civilizedly (not a real word, but vitally important as a modifier here for a number of reasons) unhinged and insecure he was.

Writing patterns 📝
[How to play: Write the opening line from the last ten fics that you posted and see if there are any patterns!]
I saw @fairlylokai doing this and then /I/ wanted to do it, so! Here goes!
still waters run deep, but pain runs deeper still Phayu/Rain - dead dove, serial killer universe
The sound of the security pad beeping and keys jangling in the lock catches Rain's attention.
2. desperate for you (to come home) Phayu/Rain - dead dove, serial killer universe
It’s been some time since Phayu allowed Rain to use his phone again.
3. love is a two way street Phayu/Rain - Rain who takes care of Phayu, the way he deserves
Waiting for Phayu can be a very long and tedious task.
4. addicted to your taste Phayu/Rain - omegaverse (beloved)
Phayu can’t resist.
5. secretly want you, desperately need you Phayu/Rain - best friends to lovers
Rain’s moans sound like heaven to Phayu’s ears.
6. a gaze you can't resist Phayu/Rain - dead dove, evil warlock Phayu
“No, no, no!” Rain yells, banging his hands on his steering wheel.
7. unhinged with a touch of love Phayu/Rain - dead dove, serial killer universe
Another month, another friday, another race.
8. a one time only show Phayu/Rain - Voyeurism (beloved)
Growing up as twin brothers had its perks.
9. home is where the heart is Phayu/Rain - omegaverseeeee
Unlocking the gate to Phayu and Rain’s house with his personalized security code, Sky walks up to the door.
10. important approval Phayu/Rain - meeting the parents!
The familiar rumble of his bike slowing down is like music to Phayu’s ears.
I feel like I don't particularly have a specific way to open a fic, but I like starting a story with a description! Show me where we are, show me what they're doing, how they're feeling and it'll catch my eye real quick! Also, the way 4/10 of these fics are dead dove says a lot about my mental stability interests the past weeks hahaha I just- love my dead dove, so much!

I've been struggling to be motivated to do any writing or much of anything lately. I won't go deep into it, but I did this to just do some writing for fun. It's been healing. Just two little drabbles.
I apologize to those who don't want more BG3 shenanigans. This is about my Tavs, Beryl (Wood Elf Warlock Bard) and Tessa (Human Rogue Ranger), because I love them. I might keep them as just DnD characters to play in the future or give them their own unique story.
If you're a BG3 fan, I'm sorry about getting my brain babies all over everything.
It Wasn't Kindness
Beryl couldn’t even remember why she was in Baldur’s Gate to begin with. It was probably nothing more than a layover to where she actually wanted to be. It all seemed so unimportant now. Until this tadpole in her head was dealt with, she wouldn’t be able to focus on much else. Getting off the Nautiloid had been her first priority.
Gaining party members had been a side effect of her journey. The first person the Wood Elf had encountered was Lae’zel. The Githyanki was a formidable but vexatious ally. She was the right amount of unhinged, topped with a refreshing bluntness. You were never left wondering where you stood with Lae’zel. Beryl could work with that.
As they made their way off the Nautiloid, Beryl and Lae’zel came across Tessa, a human rogue, trying to pry a half-elf out of one of the pods. The woman was desperate for this help which Lae’zel was hesitant to give. Beryl nearly walked on by but something compelled her to stay. Maybe she was getting soft or just stupid.
Once free, the half-elf would introduce herself as Shadowheart. It turned out to be for the best since she was a cleric. It always helped to have one on your team. Tessa found her own way of being annoying: she was too fucking nice.
Beryl wrote her off as an idiot who would probably get them killed. Yet her skills would be helpful. And Beryl couldn’t turn any of them away, could she? It wasn’t out of kindness, of course. That would be silly. They all needed each other to survive this. It wasn’t deeper than that.
As they traveled forth, the group kept growing. Tessa was insistent on saving Gale of Waterdeep from the sigil. The wizard was grateful and Beryl would be remiss if she didn’t admit having a wizard around is a good idea.
Astarion was different. He had greeted Beryl with a knife to the throat. Yet she admired his moxie. The pretty face didn’t hurt either. Tessa seemed more annoyed by how easily Beryl let him join them after attacking her.
“I’ll take responsibility if he does anything untoward, don’t worry,”
“Like holding a knife to your neck?”
“Oh, would you let that go?” Beryl was tired of this conversation.
“Gods, you really can get away with anything if you have a pretty face.”
“Not that you would know anything about that.” Beryl immediately regretted the words. She sounded so much like her mother in that sentence. She sighed, prepared to swallow her pride and apologize.
“I’m sorry. I didn’t mean that, it was a knee-jerk reaction.”
But to her surprise, Tessa was laughing.
“Your words have no sting,” Tessa said. “Just something a very hurt person says when backed into a proverbial corner.”
Beryl scowled at the accusation.
“You’re forgiven.” Tessa’s tone was obnoxiously saccharine. Beryl made a mental note to never apologize to her again.
“We need all the help we can get.” Beryl felt the need to defend her decision suddenly. “It can’t hurt having two rogues with us.”
Tessa mulled this over. “I guess, but if he kills anyone here, it’s on you. And he better not kill me. I’ll be particularly angry about it.”
Beryl nodded, accepting the terms of the agreement. This seemed to appease Tessa.
The other companions weren’t any less drama free, especially when Wyll and Karlach joined. Beryl wasn’t used to playing peacemaker, but she had managed to keep Wyll and Karlach from killing one another. Beryl was used to traveling alone. Solving other people’s quarrels was not her forte and yet here she was. Doing just that.
But she wasn’t doing this out of kindness. None of this was kindness. It was survival, just like she’d been taught. She didn’t care about any of these people.
She couldn’t care about them. It would be a weakness and weakness means death.
So no. It wasn’t kindness.
It wasn't.
Right In Front of My Party?
“It’s quite thrilling, to fight off such grim creatures as this region throws at us. Especially being at your side.”
Tessa and Gale locked eyes. He spoke to her as if she were the only person in the world. In that moment, she was at least to him. Despite the entire band of misfits standing just behind them, forced to witness this display of overt horniness.
“I once read a book that explained in some detail the effect a brush with dangers has on one’s desire for… other forms of stimulation. Have you ever read anything on that subject?”
Beryl furrowed her brow. Was he really doing this here? In front of everyone?
The wood elf glanced around the group, searching for an ally in her confusion. Karlach watched with an adoring look on her face, like she was watching a romance novel unfold. Wyll gave a sly thumbs up to Gale to encourage him. He had been playing the role of wingman for Gale so Beryl couldn’t feign surprise at it.
Shadowheart was unmoved. Lae’zel didn’t seem as disgusted by it as Beryl thought she would be. It made some sense given how much githyanki connected love and fighting. The group had seen how true that was first hand through Shadowheart and Lae’zel’s unique romance.
Beryl believed Lae’zel felt nothing but hatred for Shadowheart, especially after catching them at each other’s throats one night. But only a few nights later, Beryl had heard sounds from Lae’zel’s tent that seemed to indicate they had more than buried the hatchet.
Beryl struggled for some kind of sex pun, but it eluded her. Lae’zel buried her hatchet in Shadowheart’s? No. No, that was bad.
Shadowheart was “the source of her bruises.” Of course, she wouldn’t mind whatever it was Gale was doing right now.
Astarion had a mischievous grin, enjoying the show. He was so adept at that act of flirting, it wasn’t a surprise he was relishing Gale’s awkwardness. It was like a wild animal studying a caged one.
Beryl turned to Tessa. She had to be mortified––
“Read?” Tessa gave a flirtatious smirk. “I could have written the thing.”
These absolute freaks. Tessa looked ready to jump his bones.
“I believe you. You never looked so beautiful as at the end of a stirring battle, your cheeks flushed, gaze bright, muscles glistening,” he continued. “Perhaps it’s just the thrill of our near-death experience talking. But standing at your side through such darkness and disrepair, it only makes me want you more.”
Gale paused to regroup himself. “Unfortunately this is neither the time nor place to indulge such feelings. So, we must be patient and push all such thoughts aside. For now.”
Though a bit disappointed, Tessa nodded in agreement. Gale placed a hand on the small of her back to guide her to the Last Light Inn.
Beryl hated that she was happy for her two humans. She should have just been embarrassed for them, yet her brain signaled to her that this was “cute.”
“Pity,” Astarion commented with a fanged smile. “I thought we’d be getting a show. I can’t say I wouldn’t have enjoyed it, even if it involved Gale.”
Beryl met Astarion’s eyes. He seemed to be drinking her in. Beryl couldn’t keep her grin at bay when he sent attention her way. While she knew Astarion was using her either for sex or something else, she did appreciate his boldness. He got to the point. He didn’t waste time on conversations about books and battlefields. He just asked if you wanted to have sex.
“Don’t you agree?” Astarion’s voice was dangerously low. Beryl’s eyes widened, taken aback. She nodded slowly. Oh no. Oh no, oh no. They were flirting over the idea of those two having sex on the battlefield.
Pleased by the confession, Astarion began to follow the rest of the group to the inn.
“Don’t fall behind, my sweet,” Astarion noted. “You don’t want to be caught in the shadows.”
Beryl didn’t need to be told twice.
Gods, she was an absolute freak, too.

merthur fanfic prompt cause duh im unhinged
inspired by the line “i realized, there’s not a lot of space in my life for good things.” in the dragonlord’s son by yulianahenderson
and it made me think of merlin saying:
“if i have you, i cant have anyone else. if i have everyone else, i cant have you.” (super sadly; maybe after magic reveal/confession, good reaction, and merlin’s explanation)
↳ merlin remembering the people he’s lost; freya, will, balinor, lancelot and elyan (depending on when the fic is set). and he’s scared of losing everyone else in his life because of him/his magic/his love for arthur
i think after all this, arthur would lift the ban on magic and constantly remind merlin that he’s never alone, that he can be there with everyone else merlin loves, even bringing hunith to camelot and offering for her to stay as long as she likes.
once merlin realizes what arthur’s doing and how he keeps trying and won’t give up, he starts to accept that maybe this is his golden age.
arthur sees merlin finally accepting that maybe he can have it all and he’s so happy for his warlock.
a few months after the ban was lifted and merlin has been more content, arthur asks if merlin will be his court warlock (because “yes merlin, i know you’re not a sorcerer, i do listen to you sometimes”)
about a week after the ceremony instating merlin as court warlock, arthur tells merlin the real reason why he tried so hard to make merlin realize he could have everyone he loved and still keep arthur.
-
“i’m in love with you, merlin. you mean everything to me and it pained me to see you so sad. to think that you couldn’t have me and your friends, family, all together. i love you more than words can say and your happiness means more to me than you’ll ever know. you need your friends and family, and i need you. i know you don’t feel the same wa-“
arthur is cut off with merlin’s lips on his, his hands immediately wrapping around the warlocks waist. merlin’s arms wrapped around his shoulders and fingers running through his golden hair.
as fast as it started, it ends.
“thank you, arthur. thank you for not giving up on me,” merlin’s lips brush against arthur’s as he whispers. “i love you. i love you. i love you,” merlin mumbles between kisses, arthur just happy to have merlin this close.
merlin leans away, keeping his arms around his kings neck, the most content he’s ever looked.
“i love you, arthur pendragon. i’m so in love with you,” tears begin to fall from merlin’s eyes. “i love you with all i am.”
merlin lunges to catch arthur in a searing kiss, desperate to be as close to his king as possible.
[they have sex]
*in bed, merlin resting on arthur*
merlin looks up and rests his chin on arthur’s bare chest, they make eye contact.
“thank you for proving me wrong”
-
ok this really got away from me wow
if anyone decides to write this, take it with a grain (or gallon) of salt, i just like the concept of merlin with that mindset and arthur desperate to help him
although i do like the ending, especially the last line

Tumblr media
guidelines.
shouldn't have to be said, but, lolth-sworn drow culture is... ahem, unhinged at best? i obviously do not support any of it in any way in real life. that said, elements of it will likely come up in roleplay, so if you can't handle topics regarding sexism, slavery, violence, abuse, etc, or god forbid if you have arachnophobia, please prioritize your mental health.
i reserve the right to decline roleplay threads/following back certain people. please don't keep following/unfollowing, don't ask me why, just don’t harass me about it. i need to be comfortable where i write.
on that: i don't like to involve myself in drama online, so please do keep me out of the loop. i'm just here to unwind, and happy to make friends, always, but i literally do not have the energy to involve myself with nonsense.
i will be active whenever i can, this means threads might move very slowly or very fast, there is truly no way to predict it because my life can get very busy, or i can have a lot of free time in my hands. i will reply to whatever i have muse to.
this is a mutuals only blog, so unless i happen to post an open, please don't reply to my things if i don't follow you, thank you
i have no triggers myself, but i will try to tag any obvious triggers ( such as flashing gifs, etc). if you'd like me to tag something specific, please feel free to message me. i will look through your rules if i follow you, but chances are unless we're threading, it might slip my mind
if it's been awhile, feel free to if i owe you a reply. my ass is always losing drafts. tumblr lately also doesn't notify me of stuff, so.
there's a 10/10 chance i'll love you if you scream at me in my im <3
vhaal is a complicated little obnoxious fellow to ship with. chances are he'll flirt or be mean. it's a 50/50. i myself ship based on chemistry, so please ignore the trashman. i rarely write nsfw, but, hey... you never know. if it happens, it'll be tagged.
Tumblr media
quick little bio/stats in case i never write my actual google docs /weeps in lazy
full name: vhaalkrin symryvvin background: noble species: drow (szarkai) subspecies: lolth-sworn house: symryvvin home: the underdark, menzoberranzan, house symryvvin. but you might find him at sharess' caress since he's constantly being sent to the surface to trade and spy on account of being a szarkai drow. age: appears mid 20's gender: male (lolth boos in the background) pronouns: he/him. height: 6'1. occupation: spy/occasionally an assassin, if need be, pretty much whatever the matron mother dispatches him to do class: shadowdancer & warlock, fiend. bound to one of lolth's yochlol's. their relationship is amicable, if not fond, at least from vhaal's side. proficiencies: deception, persuasion, investigation, intimidation, perception, slight of hand and stealth. weapons of choice: bow and arrow and two daggers, he likes to stab. it's more personal. but he can get resourceful if need be. genetic abilities: darkvision, fey ancestry abilities: summon familiars, see in magical darkness, supernatural charm, most of his magic is tetheered to shadows, fire and soul manipulation
Tumblr media
personality treacherous, seductive, naturally deceptive and untrustworthy; at first appearances, very much a stereotypical drow, if not a bit too socialized for his society's liking, due to his constant visits to the surface. though he's still antagonistic, vhaal isn't necessarily evil, however, he seems to understand friendship, at least in concept, and be vaguely interested by the notion of it. he's self-serving and can be quite vicious, but not incapable of doing the right thing, every once in awhile, if nudged in the right direction. he doesn't enjoy causing pain and suffering as much as he enjoys causing chaos. though he'll adamantly deny having a soft spot for anything, he doesn't actually like seeing animals or children hurt, and in a very nonchalant way, he tries to care for those he considers 'friends'. think of it like a cat bringing you a dead bird and leaving it at your door because it thinks you're too helpless to feed yourself. absolutely more prone to showing respect towards women than men due to his background, not that that'll keep him from backstabbing them, of course. despite his treacherous nature, his unwavering loyalty to lolth and his patron seems to at least show he's capable of genuine bonds (however unhealthy those may be).
Tumblr media
apperance hair: natural hair is white, dyed auburn brown to blend on the surface. scars/tattoos: scars down his back, the tattoo of his house's symbol on the back of his neck. eyes: red. voice: sing-songy, cloying-sweet despite the unhinged stuff that comes out of his mouth, deceptivelly alluring. when he's being genuine his voice is distinctively lower and less airy. build: slender, muscular, tall. birthday: who knows tbh, ain't nobody celebrating that family: ...yes? kind of? if that's what you wanna call them. he does have siblings (sisters and brothers... the ones who didn't get sacrificed) though family is... a complicated concept for drows. they will come together to 'protect their house' or to scheme, if need be, but other than that, he tries not to get in their way and not cross the females of the household. he does seem to hold his mother in extreme high regard.

WAHHH,, IM SO HAPPY YOU LIKE MY BATTLE CATS HCS!!! So glad you also like Satoru and Warlock being pals!
-ancient-cats-unite
Hey sorry about taking like a whole week and a half to reply I had my headcanons validated and I panicked.
Have more.
- They met early in the year, when Satoru was just being welcomed into the Cat Army. However, Satoru was freaked out by Warlock's whole vibe and Warlock was deep in a guarded and distrusting phase, so they... didn't exactly like each other.
They gradually got closer thanks to Saki. She joined shortly before Satoru and set her sights on befriending both of them almost immediately. They kind of became friends by association.
Their friendship was cemented about five months after they first met, in the middle of summer and partially by accident. They went from having a tense yet gradually softening relationship to being undeniably close in the span of just under a few hours. Much to the confusion of everyone. They are the only ones who know exactly what happened.
- They balance each other nicely. Satoru is extroverted, loud, adorably pure and optimistic, and an idiot, while Warlock is introverted, quiet, adorably aloof and snarky, and also an idiot but in a less obvious way. They are constantly reigning the other in, or more often failing to reign the other in because they have more fun that way.
- Despite being the introverted one, Warlock is usually the one approaching Satoru and inviting him to hang out. He proceeds to let Satoru pick what they do together almost every single time because what they do is just a vehicle for spending time with his friend.
- Satoru likes to go on long-winded explanations of whatever he is excited about to whoever will listen. Warlock just sits there and listens (and occasionally falls asleep on his shoulder).
- Satoru is more sensible and safe, but easily caves to Warlock's unhinged, impulsive whims if he has no backup. He wants to make sure that Warlock doesn't do anything stupid without him.
- Though they are obviously very close friends who love each other very much, they are weirdly reluctant to say so out loud. Maybe it's the last remaining bits of that initial tension refusing to let go. They can be prideful and irrational little things.
(This doesn't stop them from doing all the things friends do together, they just refuse to say that they're friends.) (They aren't fooling anyone.)
- They love hugs and cuddles and being close in general.
I have some half-finished fics involving them (and half-finished Battle Cats fics in general) so maybe if I get some actual writing motivation I'll start posting my longer stuff here.
That's all I've got right now. If you have more of your own please tell me them because I love hearing what other people think about characters I like. Your content makes me happy, really :)))

There’s something about every alpha masculinity account that screams “fed” to me. I really think these account are fake and ran by the fbi to monitor men online and who would be likely to commit mass violence. Other times it’s bots.
But really, look at how they cry about how men are gods on earth for women to forcibly worship them (idolatry God will strike down every man who calls himself the lord) and the need to protect children from leftist but will welcome Kevin spacey and man who preyed upon children openly all because they don’t believe in “cancel culture” unless it’s them. This is such a insidious agenda happening and it requires a lot of attention from Christians to avoid this.
That's an interesting theory
I also heart the one saying that the incel movement was incepted by old scrote trying to make younger men look as stupid & insane as possible so that women of their age be repulsed by them and instead consider dating older men on the basis they won't be as unhinged. It would make sense if older redpiller weren't as much demented as the younger ones. And it's not like they were good concealing their "opinions" those scrote are unable to have a normam conversation with a women not involving sex, breeding, female's "role" or some other redpill bs
These old scrote are much more cunning and calculating than they will admit. Andrew Tate proudly admits he has no issue lying and deceptive tactics with the girls he's trafficking so why his fans think he wouldn't do the same to them? 🤔
Now to come back to your theory, I definitely think the redpill movement is indeed a psy-op to divide society. What irks me so bad is that so called 'free thinker' media wil have no issue seeing this when it comes to race, and call the BLM movement "divisive" and breeding hate among society, but will say absolutely nothing about redpiller and their visceral hate against women. I'm thinking about Vigilant Citizen especially.. it's been a while I realized dude was shady but I realized he was definitely full of shit when he made an entire article to dunk on Barbie and its feminist propaganda that will destroy society🙄 (btw I didn't forget he never approved my comment on that article calling him out lmao Mind you, he's one of those whiny people asking for more fReEdoM oF sPeEch/truthers are cEnsOreD, but is unable to apply that freedom of speech on his own website🤡). Meanwhile he has yet to address the redpill movement and the well documented femicide attacks/shootings perpetuated by men who explicitly expressed their hatred against women. Is that enough to finally call the redpiller/mra movement "divisive" too?
VC loves making articles pointing out the occult symbolism anywhere he can, so...why didn't he say shit about Andrew Tate Russian guru who happens to be a black warlock? Or Tate xitter handle being COBRA Tate? If you look into it, dude has whole thing going on with snakes... What about his weird triangular hand symbol too. VC would've a field day making an article developing the theory that Tate is actually a plant seeking to breed chaos and gender wars - it would have made a lot of sense bc there's a lot of shady shit going on with Tate and how he's being wk'ed by the Conservative right when he's a British pimp living in Romania. Also wasn't his dad CIA? Reaaal shady shit going on... But VC won't cover that shit bc he's of his bias.. but don't worry he'll make a 567th article about celebrities hiding one eye and the awful LBGT+ propaganda because lf *checks notes* rainbow on a note book🙃
You'd think the way these people talk about feminism women were out there turning society upside down, hounding & harassing men....but nope. IDK for being so dangerous & radical, feminists seem to be very quiet 🤔 there's a reason those men have to look into movies and video games to claim oppression. The so called oppression they get from women doesn't translate IRL.

Who are your fav characters, and why ? And favourit ship/s ?
Eeeeek finally getting round to this lovely ask by the smartiest @imabitchforjemcarstairs hehehe
I have answered this lovely q, and here is the link for the full unhinged answer for the "why" them, hehe.
But the TLDR just for fire rapid answers is:
Favourite characters:
Alastair
Will/Tessa (tie)
Thomas
Matthew
Kitty and Jessa tie
Malec (if allowed a sixth place)
Top Ships:
Thomastair
Wessa
Kitty
Jemma
Malec
(lots of cheating with the ties, but im going to be honest, i can't choose frfr)
Now to enjoy this read and not make and make this answer half assed, I will be original and give my two cents on the topic of Wessa vs. Jessa i haven't had the time to chat about until now. So technically you didn't ask for this lol but i feel like we love Jem and this is a perfect opportunity to give an essay responce on the whole shindig :)
So scooch in for me @imabitchforjemcarstairs we need a chat ;) .
On the topic of Jessa vs. Wessa vs. Herongraystairs in TID:
I think I liked them a lot especially in TID, but i think that the lack of Jem POV makes it hard to really understand what's going inside in his head. And i think the relationship as a ship in writing, suffers from it, especially when we have Will's POV. And that rather, the decisions that 'metamorph' in their relationship is out of Jessa's hands, but a response to the events CC convienently plops in, not allowing any of these three characters decided eyes wide open their fate. Which imo, is a cop out. Let's breakdown the sneaky manipulative writing CC did ;)
I recently reread TID (for about the 10th time now, as one does during the christmas season lol) and found that even during the Herongraystairs arc, it felt like the writing gave more bonding and more to Wessa than Jessa. I call this in romance novels the, "convincing period", where the author in those formative chapters has to convince the reader that these two individuals should be in a ship. CC convinced us on Wessa bc they were into each other since day 0 when Will saved her from the Twin sisters, had so many hobbies in common and shared the same common struggles of figuring out who they want to be in this world (Will struggling w/ his identity and curse and Tessa as a weird hybrid warlock who constantly gets gaslit her who life). So the convincing is done well there i think we can all agree on that pretty easily.
For Jem and Tessa, it seems as if Tessa always defaulted to him because he was a failsafe from Will. And i don't mean that negatively, but in that, he was brilliant, light, elegant, poised and studied and that is literally sexy as hell lol. LIKE COME ON, HE MADE MUSIC ON HIS VIOLIN FOR HERRR. THAT'S HELLA ROMANTIC. And is very "show don't tell" when it comes to his love, my fav trope. He is very clear, which at the time, was the opposite of Will. So that in of itself is attractive to Tessa. But it's a canon event, that she went into the engagement collaterally in book 2, bc Will constantly kept deflecting what they had. She wouldn't have explored a relationship with Jem, if it weren't for Will's deflections. This is literally a canon event. And Tessa wanted to explore what she had with Jem bc he was very decided and less flakey than Will. Which tbh makes utter sense to me!
But as you can see, later on, once Jem leaves the silent brothers, the way i interpreted this is that, Jem and Tessa became a thing bc of the history they have, the loyalty they have to the trio friendship group and bc Tessa doesn't have Will anymore. It's giving very much "begin again" by Taylor Swift Vibes (not too much but yk kinda that aesthetic). And what I'm trying to say, is that I read the Jessa relationship at a disadvantage when up against Wessa. I think CC would have benefited writing Jessa and Wessa independent, and not collaterally contigent on the happenings of what was going on with the status of the other relationship. And then, on Wessa's side in response to Jem leaving for the Silent Brothers, they didn't want to get together in Book 3, bc Will didn't want to take his best mate's girl away bc his best mate never asks anything of Will and he's also high key dying.
It’s unfair that Wessa happened bc Will felt like there was a curse which gave way for Jessa’s engagement, and conversely, it’s unfair that Wessa only got together once the silent brothers made Jem one of them. So again, the autonomy of these characters are not happening 'authentically' but are happening bc of circumstances.
There is also the accidental (ig) trope that Jem with his illness he was given which in political theory we call, “the children are dying” trope. Which means, you give blanket equity or veto power to someone irrespective of the context of deserving because they are “closer to death” than anyone else. This is THE DRIVING FORCE, of why everyone acts the way they do around poor Jem and it drives him, and us the readers crazy, rightfully so. Jem and Will become friends, not because Will at first fr liked Jem as a person or thought he was a talented shadowhunter, but “because he was dying”, blanket permission for friendship. Tessa was kind to Jem at first because, you guessed it, blanket permission because he is closer to death than she is. They get engaged despite not knowing each other for a long time, conveniently for Jem because, yes, he’s close to death. So much of autonomy is once again stripped from characters around Jem, because most of their actions are respective to his illness. Which is polite, lovely, but it rightfully upsets Jem because he is still a person. Not a a make a wish kid nor a charity case. This was touched on briefly when he said he didn’t want a nurse out of Tessa but a wife. This wasn’t morally delved into deeply save for Tessa’s answer “no I fr like u dude wdym” but than her actions proceed to default back to the “children are dying” complex around him. And we’re only freed from this trope finally once Jem has lived basically the immortal life and is a very changed person after silent brotherhood.
So WTF to do right? Seems like CC built up amazing grounds and complications in these characters, but what to do right? How can she wrap this up in a nice bow? Well CC went naturally via the occam's razor route, which is: Jem becomes a literal monk giving him 'immortality', so circumstantially, the only option JUST SO HAPPENS that Will and Tessa can be together. Again, its not a decision Tessa makes, its a problem that solves itself for Tessa. She goes with Will for now, and maybe in the future, she will go with Jem if he ever leave the silent brothers.
Which again, imo is a bit of a cop out. But CC didn't allow Tessa to put her big girl panties and choose a man. But one thing is clear, which is CC didn't write Will and Jem equal from the start. And it is very clear that Will was written from the beginning as the forbidden love and chosen one. Which is extremely unfair to Jem bc there is so much we could have learned and gained from a Jem pairing that DIDN'T happen bc of the circumstances of Wessa not working out. I truly think that Jem was written with an unfair disadvantage. Like i said, One bc his POV hasn't ever been explored that well. and Two, bc all of Tessa's choices weren't made bc she willed them, but bc CC wrote the circumstances in to take away the choice for her.
Now what I do think is right, is that Jessa, both being immortal are together later on in Shadowhunter Canon. I love Mina and I love what they can be for each other. They make each other happy. And for anyone who says that you can have only 1 love in ur life has a very romantic judeo-catholic view on things XD. U can have many loves in ur life, and each of them can be independent from each other. Love is not mutually exclusive. How is it that you can love unbundently and feel equal love for your multiple pets and children, but not find it in yourself to love more than 2 men? It is entirely possible. And so I do think there is room for Jessa, even if Wessa happened first. And I don't think it is disrespectful or cheating to remarry or find another love after one has ended.
I read criticism about them and how they don't live up to the same version as they were in TID, but i think living hundreds of years does that to you. And i don't think it's the fault of anyone in the pairing to 'bring out' the best in the other, but they can also be very changed people from when they were young. This criticism that they aren't great together later on in life is rooted in their own way of dealing with immortality AND THEN each other. I think what is a pity is that it isn't explored as well as Magnus's immortality has shaped his life which i think again, puts Jessa at a disadvantage. Magnus' continuity as I explained before is given a wider girth than Jessa which is why he is my preferred immortal. But then again, what would Magnus do, if he was immortal forever with his ship? He would be a very changed person he wouldn’t be his own comedic relief that’s for sure. In fact, Camille was not wrong when she said that immortality changes your relationship greatly. Where she fucked up was treating poor babygirl Magnus like shit just in general lol, and being immortal doesn't mean u have to be an asshole. I think immortality truly did a number on Jem and Tessa, irrespective of each other and has not a lot to do with Jem or how he treats her, but a lot about how how Tessa and Jem are quite literally a hundreds of year old great grandma and gramdpa hahahahaha.
But if Will were still alive or immortal like Tessa, would Tessa still be with him now that she has the option of being with Jem forever? Again, we are stripped away from that option because the circumstances decided over the characters. But I do think she would still chose Will.
Final question is, would Herongraystairs actually work? The answer in CC's eyes and again, the occam's razor answer is obviously 'yes'. In fact Tessa herself in Book 3 said it is entirely possible to be in love with 2 people at once and I think poly relationships are a beautiful thing. But is it the easiest and first answer, or is it the TRUE answer? Again, that we will never know bc Tessa's decisions on this matter are in response to the environment she is in, not because she truly believes it.
It is very clear that Will is written all across Tessa's mind in Book 1, and is what she thinks about 24/7. There were times where i was like, "girl just go up to him and JUST EXPLODE UR FEELS ON HIM UR GIVING ME A HEADACHE". But the plot just so conveniently every time they had a moment alone, would get 'interrupted' and the moment was gone. Only after in response to this mess of a situationship, did she go for Jem bc of his ease and what he represented (which we talked about before^) but it wasn't equally organic. It was in response to what happened with Will. Truly we all know, that Tessa would not have even considered Jem, if Will and Tessa decided to be a couple and engage by book 1. And I hate that Jessa read to me as second best, instead of a true, equal 1st place like Wessa. Which is would have to be, in order to have a Herongraystairs. I don't like that CC made Jessa collateral, but tbh i think she didn't know how to chose in the making of TID. So instead of choosing or rewriting the relationship so that both ships were dealt with equally, she made the events of the plot decide for the characters instead.
In defence of CC, a lot of our lives happens in response to our surroundings and circumstances instead of pure Free Will. Which might ironically make Jessa and Wessa and Herongraystairs even more realistic than maybe the idyllic cleanly chosen choices. Life moves fast and we can barely respond to it in time. And what matters most at the end, is that all three of these characters love each other dearly and would be there for each other no matter what. However, the way the plot was almost TOO conveniently choosing everything instead of the characters making hand on heart choices, swings us back to being a bit too unrealistic.
I truly, really love Jessa and I would marry Jem myself lol, but I really disliked the way it wasn't dealt with fairly. I am happy that they end up together at the end, I just didn't like the way they went about it. I would be more sold on Herongraystairs if it was dealt with more evenly instead of the other side of the poly v, instead of being collaterally contingent to the happenings of Wessa. Who knows, CC said that Jessa will re-encounter Will again and not in shadowhunter heaven so i wonder if there is any ability to clean this all up. But bc of the way CC wrote Jessa over how i WISHED she wrote them, Jessa is not in the top 5 ships for me unfortunately. It's def top 10 (and for sure over Clare lol) probablly like 7th place but not top 5. I think there are other relationships in the Shadowhunter fandom that are written a lot more cleanly where the characters are given by CC more autonomy in their choices which makes it easier to follow along. Not to mention get their POVs.
I cannot wait for your own lovely essay on our fav Jem @imabitchforjemcarstairs ! I hope my re-mentioning of it doesn't come across as antsy or like i'm trying to 'remind you' passively lol. Which would be awfully rude. As you can tell, I took my time to reply to this one :). My intention is one of pure excitement, fandom-ing over it and showing support.

Rules: Go to your published works on AO3 and list the first fic you ever published there, the last fic you published, any fic that you wrote for a fandom/ship only once, your favorite fic you wrote in the fandom/ship that has the most works, the fic you wish more people read, the fic you agonized over the most, the fic that sprang fully formed from your mind without any effort, and a work you are proud of—for whatever reason.
First fic I published on AO3: In High Seas for House, MD. Hey, do you want to read a weird mermaid fic that takes place in a medical drama? This weird-ass fic is for you!
Last fic I published: Fools Rush In for Good Omens (TV). If perhaps mermaids aren't your thing, then how about some Formula 1 fic in a long ass, overdramatic trilogy.
A fic from a fandom I only ever wrote once for: A Personal History of Midwestern Running, for BBC Merlin. I poured all my teenage angst into this story. I wouldn't say I'm a sports person, but writing two sports AUs says otherwise. I do still love this story deeply. Even though I wrote it over a decade ago, I think it's one of the best things I've written.
My favorite fic from the fandom with the most works: Magic Heart for Good Omens (TV). This is the third part in a trilogy about Warlock growing up raised by Crowley and Aziraphale. It was just one of those stories that came to me, and I had to write it out or else lose my mind. I think it encapsulates how Good Omens pretends to be a story about immortal beings yet is really commentary on the human experience.
I wish more people read... Name the Sky for Good Omens (TV). This was my submission for the Good Omens Big Bang 2019 event and one of the only stories I've written that takes place throughout the history of the Ineffables.
The fic I agonized the most over... Accept A Little Spin for Good Omens (TV). This is Part 2 in the #rainbowroad trilogy, and it is personal. I agonized a lot while writing and while posting. I don't think I've ever had such a nerve wracking comment experience before or after. Though it's a challenging read, it has some of my favorite scenes from the whole trilogy and is the meat of the story.
The fic that sprang fully formed without effort... The future's going to break through for Good Omens (TV). I think I was unstable when I wrote this. I woke up at 3 AM one morning and hammered out the rough draft before work. It is unhinged and somehow my most popular fic.
And the fic I am proud of... See in technicolor for Good Omens (TV). This story was such a step outside of my comfort zone. It's smutty and filthy and raw and wrenching in turns and a story I sat on for a long time before I got the courage to write it. It is certainly my most uncomfortable story because it is unflinching in the face of (my) dysphoria.
Tagging @moondawntreader for the meme!

Nobody:
Nobody:
Me: sorry, did someone ask for some older Fino, Fiera, and Jacqueline? Oh! Well here you go!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Okok so these are kinda lil. BAD sketches lmao except for the top ones!! Practise makes perfect and I'll get them right eventually!! :3 Mind the cam scan watermark, I always forget to crop it out 🙄🙄🙄
anyway some hot facts about Fiera, Fino, and Jacquie when they are a weee bit older than they are now below the cut!
First up: Fiera!
BUNS. She has FIERY BUNS! On her head. And freckles, apparently
Absolutely VIBING ribbons
She causes a ruckus, a stir up, but in the most elegant of ways which nobody expected, least of all Fiera
She's become v good at summer sprite-ing. Her fire is RAINBOW sometimes, she's very proud of that!
She and Fino both have the same face shape, same noses, and same freckles funnily enough! V. similar twins
The second doodle is a bit of a better Fiera-Hair. She's not as spinelly as I drew her at the top!
What is she up to? No idea! Adventure is out there and she's an on fire ribbony mess. She's carpe dieming that SHIT
Both she and Fino got a lot of Winter's more angular (pointy) features, and are very lanky. they have no fluff or curves. They are also both very tall!
Fino!
He's a very very VERY skilled warlock
And just as good as Fiera at fire manipulation--he's seen his Dad and Uncle and Fino went yeah, no, I'm gonna get real good at BOTH the summer sprite shit AND the warlock shit!
And then he did.
Smaller simmer of hair at the top; but it's pretty long! By Fino standards, at least. not quite a mullet but if you squint....
Spends most of his time in the human world cultivating the reputation of weird forest wizard, helping local kids and ordibeings down on their luck
he likes nature a LOT
Went to castor school in Crystal Springs, fucking ROCKED IT
And of course, last but certainly not least: Jacqueline!
Happily married to Dite (who has, at this point, forged her own identity and goes by her name: Hedone! Jacqueline calls her Donnie for short ;)
They have 3 kids!
They are just as unhinged as Jacqueline with all of the Frost crazy and bits and pieces of god power thanks to Donnie (Dite), and sass out the ass since their granpater (Cupid) is. well. like that lol
Jacqueline loves them very, very, VERY much
Jacqueline: My kids are so terrible and I love them soooo much for it 🥺🥺🥺🥺
She tries really hard to keep her hair up in a messy fat bun, but by the end of the day it's fallen down completely
Has smile lines like her parents do!!!!
She is out here Jack Frosting officially
SMILE LINES!
Still cannot seem to leave behind poofy sleeves 🤔
Lives in ordibeing world with Donnie and the kids. Kids go to human school; they cause all sorts of shenanigans
The middlest, Bianca, has a tiktok devoted to her moms called magic moms. In it, Donnie and Jacquie just exist as their magical selves and Bianca gets a kick out of all the human commentors being like WOW THEY ARE SUPER GOOD AT MAGIC HOW DOES SHE GET HER HAIR LIKE THAT? HOW DOES YOUR MATER MAKE HER WINGS MOVE LIKE HANDS? And their insistence that Bianca's answer of "they're for real actually magical beings" is not true
Also has a smattering of magibeans following who like to cause problems with ordibeings in the comments and Bianca LIVES for this
Jacqueline also lives for this magic moms thing, she thinks it's funny. Her fave video is one where Bianca charges in and goes MOM SHOW THEM HOW YOU DO YOUR HAIR and Jacqueline goes WELL, I FREEZE DRY, AND IT'S VERY EASY. YOU SUMMON YOUR FROSTY POWERS AND JUST RUN YOUR HANDS THROUGH YOUR HAIR AND MOLD IT INTO THE SHAPE YOU WANT! BOOM! DONE! You can use snow or ice or mix it UP. sometimes a light dusting of frost is gr8 for when you wanna just. have your hair down but not in your face :)
Everyone trying to debunk the sfx after that one gave Bianca and Jacquie many fun nights in the evening chillin on the couch. watching the replies. just a Legend and her Legate bonding
Jack follows magic moms and is the BIGGEST shit stirrer in the comments
EVERYONE LOVES UNCLE JACK LMAO

I don't know if you've looked over the new UA, or if you're planning to, but i've always loved your commentary on the strengths of the warlock and the pitfalls of the sorcerer (and also debunking of a lot of the whining about pre-tasha's sorcerer subclasses), so if you do end up looking over it, I'd love to hear your thoughts on the mechanical changes to the classes!
I haven't been keeping up for a while but I have returned for the most recent list so here's a very cursory list of thoughts. Sorcerer and warlock stuff in depth is bolded for your ease of finding.
buying a drink for whoever came up with the "if you fucked up which spells you prepared as a wizard? BURN A SLOT BABEY". this person gets it.
I don't love eldritch blast only scaling by warlock level but making it free does help; there's also no way to really like, reward people for playing warlock/paladin and point and laugh at them for playing warlock/sorcerer and shrug at them for playing warlock/bard so like, I get it I guess.
sorcery incarnate is great at making sorcerers suck less because it really is like. once you're out of sorcery points? you are just a wizard who is less smart, with worse spells.
Barbarian rage updates seem very good - the taking damage thing has always irritated me, and I agree, it should be what you do, not what happens to you. Also a fan of the Primal Knowledge.
NGL I'm obviously a huge caster main and I have to look up how you calculate your weapon damage every time so I will return to weapon mastery on the weekend when I am well-rested, theoretically.
Sorcerer: wow this class doesn't suck here! Increasing the number of spells is really the biggest thing, but moving metamagic to level 2 makes muticlassing into sorcerer an actually feasible option, and making it something you can change on a long rest is HUGE, particularly because metamagic is very much a case of "if you have the exact correct metamagic option it will save your ass but if you picked wrong at level 3 you are dead." Sorcerous vitality is good and in general I think sorcerers should gain abilities that make them more self-sufficient [insert Critical Role Campaign 3 joke here]. In general the always prepped sorcerer spells are good. Arcane Apotheosis is unhinged but in the right and proper way of high level characters so that's fine.
Warlock: I'm sorry but warlock should not be permitted to be wisdom based. If you were wise you'd make better choices. Int is fine though obviously since wizard stupid/hubris is frequently true of other mages. Anyway. Moving the spell slot progression to half-caster systems is probably wise given that once a warlock hit level 9 it became Time To Exploit Things but I do have a soft spot for pact magic; mechanically this is good, emotionally this is eh. Medium armor by default is good because warlocks are frequently in situations. Moving Mystic Arcanum softens the blow a bit, and moving the pact boon to level 1 along with the patron will hopefully help people understand the warlock narratively better (iykyk). Contact Patron, and getting Hex at will at L18 are both great. My only argument is that pact weapon should, like the others, last until dismissed or until you die; like, realistically, what is going to happen is the player is going to say "just assume I fucking cast it each morning and also each night to ensure I have weapons at the ready if we're attacked in the middle of the night" so may as well cut out the middleman. The invocation changes seem fine; Hexer is hilarious and perfect.
Wizard stuff is great, big fan of the Academic feature.

are you still taking prompts/ideas for your little ficlets?? I may or may not have binged all of your shadowhunter fics in under a day, and I may or may not be slightly obsessed with them 💃
if you're willing, do you think you could do one for Ragnor and Jocelyn?? I remember their relationship being briefly mentioned in the books, and then you emphasizing that a bit within your Ragnor-centric series and I'd honestly love to see how you'd write them. Like maybe after he's officially renounced himself as living, Jocelyn comes along and wants to talk and catch up. I could see him being her favourite teacher while she attended the academy, and we already know that Ragnor's fond of her as well. Or maybe the Frays are celebrating Christmas, and she invites Ragnor as well as some other close friend (Magnus, his boys, the main gang, Tessa and Cat, etc).
oooorrr what if While Ragnor teaches at the academy, he notices something off with Jocelyn, and invites her into his office for tea — a nice chat between friends.
There are so many ways this friendship could go — I absolutely know Jocelyn has an unhinged side (her daughter's Clary for crying out loud 😭) and I could see her and Ragnor working together to prank Magnus for some special occasion. (They'd probably be the last 2 people Magnus would expect to get pranked from)
Thank you, I’m so glad you’ve been enjoying them ❤️
Ragnor and Jocelyn is an interesting dynamic I had some headcanons for but never really got a chance to write.
——
“If we want students to graduate prepared to enter the Scholomance, we need to keep the units on the history of High Warlocks and the hierarchy of the Seelie and Unseelie courts,” Ragnor said, shifting through the pile of lesson plans littering Catarina’s desk in her new office at the soon-to-be-opened Shadowhunter Academy.
“Most of them won’t be on track for the Scholomance,” Catarina reminded him. “Most of them will go straight to hitting demons with sharp objects, and won’t need to know more than that High Warlocks exist and that anything involving faerie politics should be handled by calling the Alliance.“
“They could at least be educated while they hit things with swords and seraph blades,” Ragnor grumbled.
“The time those units would take up would be better spent on reinforcing deescalating strategies when talking to Downworlders,” Catarina argued. “The students who care about the deeper politics can research them as part of their Scholomance entry essays.”
A flash of red ponytail outside of the office door caught his attention. “Clarissa, would you care to weigh in on the debate instead of lurking in the hall?”
The woman stepped hesitantly into view, and Ragnor realized he had been mistaken. “Jocelyn, my apologies,” he said. “Your daughter looks very much like you.”
“I’ve just remembered, I have to check the stock of bandages in the infirmary,” Catarina said suddenly, giving Ragnor a sharp look that told him she expected him to apologize for something, he just had no idea what. “You know how baby Shadowhunters are. Can’t be too prepared for increasingly stupid injuries acquired by showing off.”
Ragnor watched her vanish down the hall, baffled.
“Catarina told me you would be coming to help with the Academy curriculum today,” Jocelyn said, still standing awkwardly in the doorway, fidgeting with the fraying hem of her paint-stained sweater like a schoolgirl.
It had been a long time since Jocelyn Fairchild had been his student, but he still recognized the signs that something was weighing on her, though he suspected it wasn’t about homework assignments this time.
“Come and sit,” he said, a sweep of one hand making the scattered lesson plans march to the end of the desk and neatly stack themselves, and a flick of the other wrist causing two cups of tea to materialize.
Jocelyn sank down in the chair that Catarina had vacated. “You look well, Ragnor,” she started.
“You didn’t come for small talk, Jocelyn,” Ragnor said, eyeing her over the rim of his tea cup. “Out with it then.”
Jocelyn held her own cup, turning it around in her hands like she needed the warmth, but she didn’t drink it. “Clary told me that you were alive,” she said finally. “A couple of years ago, after she got back from Shanghai. I know it was supposed to be a secret, but we both blamed ourselves for what we thought happened to you.”
“What?” Ragnor said, thrown even farther off balance. Whatever he had expected her to say, it hadn’t been that.
“Did Valentine really have nothing to do with your deat– disappearance?”
The pieces finally clicked into place. The spell he had made for Jocelyn, and Magnus’s reason for asking for the Book of the White when Ragnor had been in the middle of faking his death. Ragnor had trusted Magnus to handle the matter, and hadn’t thought of it again after the chaos his life had turned into. He had nearly forgotten about it entirely.
“No, nothing,” Ragnor said. “Valentine was a convenient cover for my escape, but I was well away before anyone associated with him turned up on my doorstep. All of my troubles came from elsewhere.”
Some of the tension went out of Jocelyn and she finally took a sip of tea.
“Catarina was the one who took care of me in the hospital, when I was under the spell,” she said after a moment. “She hid it well, but I could tell she was furious about something when she and Magnus woke me up. I thought it was because she blamed me and Clary for leading Valentine to you.”
Ragnor shook his head. “No, I’m sure Magnus told her the truth about what I had done before they reversed the spell on you. She was probably angry with me.”
Angry wasn’t a strong enough word. The first time he had seen Catarina after Magnus had rescued him, she had slapped him and shouted at him before finally throwing her arms around him and telling him she was glad to see him.
“Your spell saved me from torture I can’t even begin to imagine,” Jocelyn said. “It probably saved my life too. It’s a relief to know that it didn’t cost you yours.”
Ragnor had learned an unfortunate amount about being tortured recently, the memories of Shinyun still uncomfortably fresh. He was glad to have helped spare Jocelyn from a having a similar experience.
“Even if it had,” he said, meeting Jocelyn’s green eyes, finally realizing what it was that she needed to hear, “it wouldn’t have been your fault. I would not have blamed you. You made your own mistakes in the past, but you’ve done what you can to make up for those sins. Valentine’s sins rest entirely on Valentine.”
Jocelyn closed her eyes and took a breath. Ragnor suspected she wouldn’t ever stop blaming herself for Valentine entirely, but lightening the burden a little at a time would help. “I’m grateful you gave me that second chance, all those years ago,” she said.
“If we stop giving people chances to change, the world will become a truly bleak place,” Ragnor said with a wry smile. Jocelyn wasn’t the only one in the room living by the grace of being given a second chance. “I owe you an apology as well,” he added. “I’m sorry for the pain my disappearance put you through. I didn’t consider how pinning my fake murder on Valentine would look to you when you woke up.”
Jocelyn smiled at him at last, and he caught a glimpse of the little girl she had been, before Valentine, when Ragnor had still been close to the Fairchild family. “I’m glad you’re back. I know you’ll be at the Scholomance more, but I hope we see you around here too.”
Ragnor flicked his wrist again, refilling both of their tea cups. “I’ll see what I can do.”

late but my intensely unhinged take: D&D as a whole uses alignment as a crutch to avoid the awkward conversations about the families of the kobolds you’re slaughtering because They’re Evil. to remedy this, instead of junking alignment entirely, make alignment purely perspectivebased and subjective. have the kobolds view themselves as like, neutral good, because their main goals are the perpetuation and safety of the colony, and have the adventurers view them as lawful evil. this will have no mechanical effects until you get to the point of the 10th level LG kobold paladin defending their kindred against these evil interlopers, and their smite evil effects working against the adventurers. it’s gotta be a little weirder in 5e but 3.X is so so easy to pull it off in

Anon I am kissing you on the mouth I absolutely adore a good and nuanced dnd take!
This is an incredibly good take i love alignment as a subjective point of view sort of thing and I love the idea of an alignment based feature not working because of moral shifts.
I personally go the other way with my alignment when I dm in that your alignment is a cosmic alignment to the outer planes. Your alignment basically showing which of the gods has claim to your soul (baring any cleric or warlock soul promising) if you look at the great wheel in the back of the players handbook all the outer planes are linked to an alignment and that is where you find most of the alignment based mechanics in the outer planes part of the dmg.
So what you think has no control over your alignment you can be as justified as you want with your actions if you are acting in a way that would align you with a god your alignment goes there. The kobolds thrn for example are either lawful good if following a bahamut aligned dragon or lawful evil if following a tiamat aligned dragon regardless of how they feel about their actions because they have a cosmic alignment to a specific diety with their own plane of existence
I love to talk dnd mechanics feel free to message me about it
