What kind of drunk would each of the guild members be? I’m hiding from one of my friends right now cause they’re really chatty so I’m wondering if any one is like that when the guild is like that
LMFAO!!!! IM SORRY YOU GOTTA HIDE FROM THEM!!!!!!!
lemme see...,. first this is obviously all post-timeskip because thats when theyre old enough to actually drink!! coco is the only angry drunk in the group. she gets drunk and starts yelling about all her problems (she doesnt have that many...things like "how come somtimes you (taffy) only give me one kiss when you get back huh?!" grabbing his shirt collar and shaking him
taffy is sadly the tired drunk. he gets even more tired than he usually is, and immediately starts nodding off. hes the one you gotta drag his ass home because he cant stay awake for more than 2 seconds
oscar is usually the happy kind!! and the adventurous kind!! youd lose him and then 10 seconds later find him dancing on the bar counter with some girl he just met!! also the insufferable kind that doesnt want to leave the bar/party and keeps escaping and doing shots every time you look away
lime is a loud drunk. not necessarily chatty, but loud. everything he says hes yelling over everyone and being dramatic. unless you put him next to mochi, in which he turns into the touchy "lets go to the storage room real quick-" kind of drunk with her that requires fending off with a stick and constantly slapping his hands away (if "drunk actions are sober thoughts" was a person) (this version of lime is only really shown when hes with the guild because he doesnt trust his m34th coworkers enough to get drunk around them.)
mochi...im not sure...she might be that one friend who is usually the sober one that ordered a strawberry smoothie or something and is responsible for getting everyone else home safe (somehow i cant see pom being okay with miss cat witch willingly getting drunk and not being in her right mind). i think she would only be able to get drunk if they were at home, and lime says something like "Here how about this, you drink all you want and ill be the sober one this time alright? Im not gonna let anything happen so just enjoy yourself."
anyway that being said......i think she would be on the quieter side and very wobbly. ALSO not too dissimilar from lime in the sense that she gets very affectionate with him... the entire time shes out of it she has some kind of physical contact with him...holding onto his sleeve so she doesnt fall over, leaning on his arm, SOMETHING, meanwhile lime trying to be as responsible and respectful as possible and keep in mind "No, thats wrong, shes drunk--" when she starts getting more and more touchy and he needs to DIG DEEP to find that inner strength

am getting a lot of character inspo for shri’iia from amy gone girl. I don’t think she’s as smart nor calculated but she is similar to some degree in that she’s hyper aware of the current persona she’s presenting and how she’s appealing to the people. the masks and the mjndgames, that’s basically how shri’iia operated while she was still serving under her matriarch in menzoberranzan. she needed to play the roles the matriarch required of her and it was only when she was with her matriarch that she can be ‘Real Shri’iia’, and that’s how I imagined shri’iia to be esp in act 1 when she is so new and scared in the surface. she needed to work out who these people are (her companions) and what they liked, so her first persona - her blank one - the charming helpful paladin who got tadpoled and wants to go back home just like the rest of them (which was half true). she didn’t really argue and she generally agreed to what the group wanted. she was helpful and co-operative, ask her about her past and she will tell you something bland and generic- interesting enough to be ooh-ing about but not too interesting that they’ll delve deeper into it. then, when she got to know them a little more, she started crafting little personas adjacent to her first one ; she’s the girl who’s curious about magic but never had the chance to learn with gale, she’s a cool girl who likes mischief as debauchery with astarion, she’s the one who likes to take risks and live in the moment with karlach, the knight in silver armor who’s willing to help the tieflings with wyll, a disciplined fighter with lae’zel, someone who understands the depths of devotion with shadowheart - but none are really her, not really. ofc her own personality might slip in here and there but for the most part she’s appealing to them and what they’d like her to be but none of it is really genuine. shri’iia just needs to be on their good side to minimise the chances of them turning on her, and if they let her guard down it’ll be easier for her to get rid of them should the need arise. taking up all these different masks, collecting all these intel abt them to be used for later, slithering and making a place in their minds - it’s really how she operated back in menzoberranzan. I think the only one who catches on to her game is astarion but that’s bc he’s doing the same thing too, so it’s very game recognises game lmfao
it’s only when she breaks her oath and goes through her existential crisis that all of her masks drop and her real self comes out. she was never that kind of person lmfao ^, she’s greedy, selfish, paranoid and rather obsessive. she doesn’t care about a lot of things that doesn’t concern her, she has a cruel streak that she hasn’t shown before, and she hates doing anything that won’t really benefit her. but she’s fiercely loyal to anyone she likes, like a dog. and severely she craves validation and approval - also like a dog.

The human psyche is a fickle thing (many more nominally Significant events have transpired, many more frost heaves have erupted along the paved road of my life, I've gotten a LOT sicker in unanticipated ways with unanticipated consequences, and yet, my agenda for next neuropsych appointment is still "feeling betrayed by [redacted] for acting like the pandemic is over even though she herself is disabled; abiding by communist principles in theory, and very often in practice! but when push comes to shove the most painful part of this weird relationship has been acknowledging & accepting your mom's tongue-in-cheek nickname for her (Bougie [redacted]). Also how she responded to the situation with [nemesis] (doubt, disbelief, asking if you were drunk, if you might have just made a bad decision & be regretting it in the light of day). How if not the former, at least the latter can be legitimately & not-irrationally felt as some flavor of betrayal. The former -- irrationally. And in the future, on this, the centennial of one time history ended during the period we call modernity. How do we move forward (singular-we). How do we make it hurt less.")

hi minnie!/!:'d
i have a fanfic question. well, it's more of a red-specific question. what makes you write red selectively mute or mute? i've always been curious what facilitates that change... does it have to do with the tone of a piece or does it fit an intended goal?
oh!! 🧍♀️heleowo (sorry im kinda tipsy LMFAO)
i can absolutely explain this completely though.
I mostly write red completely mute because that's just what I prefer. In some of my older fics (debut/encore) i wrote him selectively mute because I couldn't decide what I wanted. And I wanted Red to vocally speak in those.
Anything pokemon masters, he's selectively mute to reflect the canon of that game. Unless it's the first pokemas fic i wrote, because, again, I didn't know what I wanted.
Now that i've got things down to a science LMFAO I can confidently tell you that it's down to preference. I like to write characters as close to their canon portrayals as possible (for characterization) so most of the time, Red's mute. I also like him to use sign language, which he can also do while selectively mute, of course. But 🤷♀️
What facilitates the change...yeah, I guess it is feeling. I default to Red being mute. If the concept dictates that he needs to speak something specific or it flows better or it feels better, I'll make him selectively mute. I usually do this when Red needs to say something specific because his words carry weight when he's selectively mute (not saying that sign language doesn't, just that when he chooses to speak vocally, it's to say important that can't be communicated through body language/expression)
basically -- i feel like i'm not answering your question, sorry -- basically, it's tone/verse. If I get a feeling during the conceptual stage of a fic that Red needs to be selectively mute, I'll follow that instinct. If I don't get that feeling, he's mute. So yeah, I guess it is both the tone/verse/goal of it. 🤔
but the cool thing is that people can write/interpret red however they wish! i just want him to shut up because I like that about his canon character. I like that he's mute A LOT. it's one of the things that got me into this pairing in the first place. It's fun to write mute characters because it helps with body language descriptions? and expressions. And it helps with dialogue. How do people communicate with his person VERSUS how they communicate with other people? that type of thing. Plus, I sometimes feel like my dialogue gets very "samey" sometimes or repetitive, so relying on behavior is a bit easier sometimes.
sorry for writing an essay in response to your cool question, thank you!!!

i like to think that shri’iia and astarion actually spent a lot of time together at night when the others are asleep bc elves don’t need to sleep. a trance lasts for like 4 hrs I think and I don’t think astarion spends the whole night hunting so they have a lot of time to kill while they wait for the others to get up. at first I don’t think they’d interact a lot - maybe some conversations here and there but they’ll just spend a lot of time doing their own thing. once they get to know each other, and they’re more familiar (post vampire reveal) I think they’d be interacting more and more. maybe they’d talk about what happened that day or bring up a random thought they had, some mindless conversation to humour them throughout the night. then when they actually know each other (I’m thinking post oathbreaking/shri’iia telling the truth about herself) is when they get comfortable to talk and share about the more personal stuff. I love the idea of their relationship progressing through the simple quiet convos tho … just the realisation that they actually like to be in each other’s company… since their romance was built on deceit, the idea of it being nurtured and changing into something more genuine bc they just hang out a lot and they liked each other’s company is just so weirdly sweet to me lmfao. I also like the idea that they both didn’t expect to fall for each other. like just imagining shri’iia making some poisons for him one night and she realises she’s actually kind of into this fucking guy she’s like oh god… oh fuck 🧍♀️😳
