"Millennium's characters are boring and one dimensional."
Yea genius that's because they're all caricatures of stereotypes (two of which are racist) and reused tropes which are in no way original or creative, their whole personality are these various tropes with a name attached to it and a cooky design. not to mention they're all part of a nazi organization who variously show it off like a gucci designer bag and who almost all share some form of beliefs from the roots of their organization.
then again this is found throughout hellsing w stereotypical designs which often tightrope the line of being racist/offensive while some blatantly cross it.
overall i hate this series and all of the characters in it from a critical point, but from a mental illness hyperfixation stand point i love it and all of the characters within the series.

Everyone's got a take, and I've got a take too, about the current Internet Villain: James Somerton, a gay Youtuber who just got exposed (in the back half of a 4-hour video) as massively plagiarizing the work of LGBTQ+ media critics, historians, and memoirists, and then exposed in another 2-hour video as just making up the wildest nonsense about the topics he demonstrably had access to accurate information on.
He achieved a six-figure income on his work by squeezing money out of his audience with claims...
That only he was creating content that preserved queer history and elevated the voices and experiences of the LGBTQ+ community (a lie)
He was in serious financial distress and would have to go out of business if people didn't give him tons of money (a lie)
That he was going to use some of that cash to make definitely good and not-at-all-plagiarized independent movies, a thing he was definitely skilled and experienced enough to do (a lie), and
That those plagiarism allegations were incorrect,, and frankly,,,, hurtful and homophobic. (a GIANT lie)
Like, here's a visualization of the script of one of his videos, "Society and Queer Horror". The highlighted bits were lifted nearly verbatim from the works of others—the 18 authors identified at the time the exposé was posted—and presented as Somerton's own work.
Tumblr media
So here's what drives me absolutely up the wall about this:
If he had just ADMITTED that it was the work of other people, THAT WOULD STILL BE COOL. If he had just said, up front, "We are going on a survey of thoughts and insights people have had about this topic", that would still be a good video with a real audience!
Like yes, he studied business in university, he might not have gotten the kinds of research skills and knowledge someone like Kaz Rowe uses to not just report on the history and analysis of others, but evaluate their relative validity and trustworthiness.
But honestly, since watching my niblings (oldest is 13) watch Youtube, I think you honestly can't underestimate the number of viewers who are really hungry for someone saying, "I don't understand this topic! Let's explore it together!"
But NOOOOOOO, Somerton didn't want to be just some schmuck waxing enthusiastic about homoeroticism on film and acknowledging the smartness of other people. He wanted to be HIM, MR. SMARTYBOY, very sophisticated and alluring and thoughtful and deep. Definitely an intellectual heavyweight who just happened to spout off his own personal ideas and analysis that put him at the forefront of all the scholarship on the topic he's come across.
I hate being wrong. Hate being wrong. But blogging for most of my life has forced me to confront constant textual evidence that two or ten or twenty years ago, I said some dumb-ass shit. Honestly, it'd probably keep me up at night sometimes even if I didn't have a written record. I absolutely understand the desire to scan the field, find the coolest people around, and quickly clothe yourself in as perfect an imitation of them as you can manage.
But if you want to be an artist or a scholar who produces something lasting, you can't prioritize coolness over truth all the time. To develop your true, independent voice, you need to find a time and place where it is just you and just the work you're doing, and you have pick up your tools and say, I don't know if I'm doing this right, but this is what feels right to me.
There are a lot of things in life to which we can only truly contribute our presence and our perspectives. Things we can only witness or hold space for. We cannot go back and bleed the pain out of history, or erase the complexity of another person's life. Not honestly, at least.
But those are the times that need our presence, our perspectives, our witness, and our space. When we gather round and tell sad tales about the death of kings, honesty can be the only thing you give that's worth a damn in the large scale of things.
If this dude had owned up to the truth and honestly showed the work of trying to piece together a queer understanding of the world, trying to draw the threads of culture together until he found a place he fit inside them, it would have been so much more valuable to our culture as a whole.
He probably made more money this way, though. While it lasted.

One thing that I personally find super frustrating about Taylor Swift is the way she plays into the myth of the "lone genius" artist. Without collaboration, nothing gets done; or, if it does, it's typically of low or inconsistent quality. And this is true in pretty much ANY field or discipline you can think of: scientific research, advocacy work, etc. The fact that Taylor considers herself above that and persists in selling the myth of her "lone genius" to fans honestly feels malevolent and arrogant to me.
It's truly ridiculous, at the end of the day, that people call her a "poet" and "genius songwriter" for doing everything on her own. I think it really showcases how little she understands when it comes to poetry as an art form. Most legendary writers and poets have multiple people look over their work and go through many stages of the editing process. One of the purposes of art is to communicate, and it's honestly hard to tell sometimes if what you've written has meaning and communicates well outside of your own brain. Peer review is ESSENTIAL for writers.
I think it's also very telling that she considers herself a legendary poet and actively plays into that mythology by circulating the fact that she's distantly related to Emily Dickinson. As someone who has loved and studied literature for many years, I can honestly say that Taylor Swift's closest comparative when it comes to writing is Rupi Kaur. Pinterest poetry, and nothing more. And she has the arrogance to compare herself to one of the most important poets in American literary canon!
I'm reminded of something I heard Hozier say a little while back (I'm forgetting now which interview) about people praising his lyricism as poetry. He essentially called those claims an insult to poetry, stating that there are structural rules in music (rhyme scheme, beat, etc.) that he adheres to that poets don't have to, and that poets can be much more experimental and revolutionary in form (at least when it comes to the written word vs. the sung word). Only someone who genuinely loves poetry would say something like this; plus, it shows that he thinks about the different impacts that form can have on art the messages it communicates. And this, coming from one of the best singer/songwriters currently working!
TS and Hozier aren't writing in the same genre, but I do think it's interesting to compare them as artists in their respective approaches to lyricism. When it comes to Taylor, I think she cares more about the aesthetic of poetry as an art form than the actual art itself. Her writing doesn't actively interact with the literary canon that inspired it, like Hozier's does (or other great lyricists, like Kendrick/Florence/Mitski/Elton). Her writing feels very hollow and devoid of meaning to me.
i just want to say your ask and analysis was so well written 😭 thank you for sending this in!
Completely agree that Swift's solo songwriting genius is a myth. Only 2/16 songs from TTPD were solely credited to her...which means 12.5% of the album is solely her own writing. That is not a songwriting genius. That's just a songwriter. She already knows her fans are completely sold and convinced on her songwriting genius so of course she would drag out her ancestry.com results and up-play her relation to Emily Dickinson to help sell the aesthetic of the album. Everything for her is another marketing strategy. She has no respect for poetry, let alone writing as a craft itself. If you view her behavior through the lens of another writer, it's absolutely abhorrent, but if you view it through the lens of another capitalist, it's absolute genius.
I love your Hozier comparison because Hozier is only 4 months younger than Taylor yet the quality of their lyricism are oceans apart. Hozier has proven himself to be a talented writer time and time again throughout the course of his career, and the best songwriters often know and understand the power of other writing mediums. (BTW I know what Hozier interview you’re talking about! Here it is :))
What makes a great writer is knowing the canon, and knowing other writing mediums very well. It's why the greatest songwriters incorporate canon not only of their own genre and medium but of other texts as well (I'm biased because I listened to Kate Bush's Wuthering Heights today and I know its an adaptation but still its relevant here). Intextuality is the foundation of a great work, and Taylor's work has none.
As the other anon(s) have pointed out, Taylor no longer makes music as art. She makes music for money. I don't think any artist who likes what they do or cares about what they produce would put out an album like that, with lyrics like that, and its content. At least Rupi Kaur's writing impacted poetry in bringing it into the mainstream; I don't exactly understand what ttpd could offer as a text or in pop culture.
TLDR: hozier makes music for people who eat it from the back and then handfeed you grapes afterwards. taylor swift makes music for white girls entering their first day of 7th grade send tweet

god save our women; a ramble of an analysis
or, captain laserhawk REALLY shot jade in the face and im still upset about it because oh my GOD they really made her be thrown into a role that is not HER and in death she's still a Figure. yknow, i personally don't have a problem with sarah x jade, but over the past few months occasionally i'd think about it. yeah, it's funny to call sarah gay as hell for putting jade in a femme fatale outfit, but. should that truly be our basis for the ship? or should we think a bit deeper on why exactly sarah would put the sole woman in her lil tool set into such a position? i wonder why it wouldn't hurt to think about why jade would be forced into a role where one has to be sexual.
sarah is an extent of eden and eden is society and society will occasionally harp an odd sort of something masquerading as feminism to you that being sexual gives you power! but really it only serves to loop back into being for the man's enjoyment.
now i have to say that being sexual can be empowering! it really is! we just also have to acknowledge that in the eyes of society, sex is an exchange where it serves the man more than it does the woman. it still feels good to be sexual though, and being sexual can be used right for what you want.
but when it comes to jade, jade is forced to fall into this femme fatale role, this role that demands one to be a maneater, when she usually sticks to a more impersonal way of work. in this role, she dresses in clothes that she's not comfortable with wearing, when told to change from her usual outfit she is visibly uncomfortable, and overall it doesn't fit her.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
she is not a sexual person. she does not typically utilise sexuality as a tool in her arsenal, she doesn't even seem to really touch it (or she's just insanely bad at flirting). either way, she's not used to being in this position because she does not choose to be in this position often.
anyways, why does sarah think to put the woman in a position where she would have to step out of her comfort zone? because obviously, she uses things and positions as tools, and sexuality is a tool.
now i want yall to bear with me as i compare sarah to another woman in media; makima. no im not calling sarah some god awful dommy mommy or some shit, i'm bringing in makima to highlight how sexuality is used. she uses her sexuality as a woman to entice this young boy into doing things for her, ranging from a kiss to assaulting him and telling him that she'll give him more as a reward. while not inherently sexual, she offers up a date with her to encourage the devil hybrids under her control. she even offers up a kiss at one point to encourage competition. makima, someone raised by the government and given tools that she uses to manipulate others, has sexuality in her arsenal. it is not a stretch to say that sarah, someone who has intimate understanding of the government, the ladder she climbs, has seen others use sexuality as a tool. hell, it might even be encouraged to use it as a tool. i'm absolutely not saying that sarah fucked her way to the top, im saying that sarah is aware that sexuality is a tool that one can use.
now we all know how sarah got to the top, which can be reasonably assumed to be through military rank and impersonal ways. ways that don't require one to lower your guard and take you in before they strike, like a femme fatale way would. sarah most likely got through to the top by using people and throwing just enough weight around. so why does she not allow jade to flourish in a way that honestly would benefit the team way better yeah no its because she sees her as a fucking tool in order to recognise jade's real talents she must first let go of the notion that she is a simple tool and accept that as a human she has legitimate strengths in unique areas and not just one where you can remind them who is in charge and how you are a tool and FUCK EDEN AND THEIR FUCKING TOOL MINDSET FUCKING CAPITALIST MINDSET IN A SO CALLED POST CAPITALISTIC SOCIETY!!!!! okay im getting a lil heated but yknow what let's continue FUCK PEY'J LOOK AT THIS SHIT
Tumblr media
IM SO SORRY BEYOND GOOD AND EVIL FANS THEY DID YOU SO WRONG BECAUSE THEY WANTED TO FUCKING HAMMER IN THE IDEA OF JADE BEING A FIGURE AND NOT A PERSON EVEN IN DEATH SHE IS BOILED DOWN TO SOME FUCKASS WHO KNEW HER AS A BABY'S LOVE INTEREST AND I KNOW FOR A FACT THEY DID YALL WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! they did yall so wrong my god. my god !! imagine! someone who knew you as a BABY openly admitted to you when you were a young adult in your 20s that he has feelings for you! what the hell! what purpose does this serve than to cement the idea that jade is a tool, a motive? jade, a goddamn REPORTER tryna spread light on a legitimate issue on society and then gets thrown into the Ghosts because of it, is boiled down to a tool. a fucking tool by both sarah and pey'j, TWO PEOPLE WHO ARE SEEN by both show and fandom AS POSSIBLE LOVE INTERESTS FOR JADE.
Tumblr media
SHE LITERALLY COULD HAVE BEEN SO MUCH MORE IF SARAH DID SEE HER AS HUMAN AND DID UTILISE HER ACTUAL TALENTS INSTEAD OF SEEING HER AS A TOOL AND FOR THAT JADE IS UNFORTUNATELY NOT SEEN AS A PERSON, BUT AS A FIGURE.
but yknow what. yknow who also has been seen as a figure and not a person.
dolph laserhawk. eden's child soldier that they raised as a paragon of hope fallen into disgrace.
yknow what also happens with dolph and jade? they treat each other as human. jade includes dolph in her lil vlogs as she does with the rest of the team, because she is a good person. dolph recognises that she is indeed a person, someone worth remembering as themselves. not as who she was to someone, but as someone who went out of her way to offer kindness. she gets a goddamn speaking role in his vr dream alongside alex, who yes groomed him, but he also made dolph feel human.
Tumblr media
i didnt even realise it before that they put the only two people (that are. dead. bullfrog is not here for obvious reasons) that have made dolph feel human and not an extension of eden in one frame BUT THYE FUCKING DID. these mfs and dolph are basically real recognises real
this isn't about dolph though, this is about jade. jade, who didn't get to be shown to the world as a person, who posthumously became a figure for a man's revenge, who was put into a position she is not suited for because she was not recognised as human. jade, who is the most human out of the ghosts, who gave voice to those that couldn't through her work, who went into exposing pagan min because of her uncle, her family that she loved. for being the most grounded member, they had to kill you because you mattered so much. kept the team together through kindness. god they did you so wrong jade.

Blog Moderation FAQs
Hi everyone!
Every time we answer an ask about the queue/inbox situation we get several of the same suggestions in our inbox. While we truly appreciate those of you trying to be helpful, I wanted to take some time to address some of the suggestions and the reasons behind our position on said suggestions.
Have you considered closing the ask box for a while until you work through what you have?
No. With as many asks as there are in the box, it would result in the ask box being closed for quite some time, which we don't think is really what anyone wants!
Closing the box would allow for us to "catch up", but it also would mean potential dry periods of content.
Keeping the ask box open means we need to scroll forever to reach the old asks, but it also means that we are set to deliver consistent content for a while, and are never at risk for an empty queue when the inevitable drop in fandom interest hits.
Why don't you post more frequently?
Actually, we do! We've exploded recently, so many of you may not remember ye olden days of our blog's founder doing their best as a one person show and we got one post a day... ish. Then, when the ask box exploded to 100 asks (haha) they brought in the first round of new mods (including me!). During this time, we were able to build a solid queue. We were then able to post 5-6 times a day.
With a healthy queue and a healthy ask box, we were able to bump the post frequency to 12 times a day. Most of the first wave of mods worked through some asks and then largely went inactive. This is fine, it happens. After struggling to keep up a frequency of 12/day as a one person show once again, we recruited new mods with some activity guidelines.
To maintain a posting frequency of 12 times a day, each mod needs to add 3 posts to the queue a day, or 21 posts to the queue a week. We ask that every mod contributes 30 times a week, that way we have a healthy buffer of content for holidays, emergencies, and just general time away from the internet.
While the confessions are sent in by y'all and editing them in photoshop is a generally simple process, it still does take time. Time in the game to find and take the screenshots, time in the editing software to create the image, then posting and tagging appropriately. Those cursed edits y'all love so much take even more time.
We're all adults here. And your mods are too. They have lives off of tumblr, often complete with bills and day jobs. Honestly, less fun than the little horny blog, but *vague gestures towards capitalist hellscape*
For these reasons, posting 12 times a day is going to be a hard cap for the foreseeable future. In the most loving way possible: If you are submitting an ask now and expecting to see it a week or even a month from now, you are going to be sorely disappointed. Submit your ask and know that it will be appreciated by the community when its time comes.
"A confession is never late, nor is it early. A confession arrives precisely when it means to." - Elminster (probably)
Why don't you just get more mods?
Have you heard the phrase "too many cooks in the kitchen"? Every person added to a process adds another variable, and the more variables, the harder it is to deliver a consistent experience. Additionally, the goal is to find people who can stay pretty consistently active, which can be a hard ask for a lot of people. We're very grateful for the team that we have now, and we aren't seeking new mods at this time.
Why don't you post more confessions about (character/female/etc)?
We are a submissions blog. We work with the content we are given. You need to be the horny you wish to see in the world. I know in general there's a lack of confessions for female characters, and there's an analysis to be made about how different gender/sexual identities interact with fandom and how that affects the content available in communities for consumption, but I'm not the person to make it.
Thank you all for continuing to be amazing, it is truly an honor to serve 🫡

Is Love in the air? Or it is just Gwen fuming?
Tumblr media
Continuing with Mumbattan, the falling bit will go in another post (that will also be more about the movie than shipping since I don't have a lot to say in that regard,) let's go where we left of with: Gwen is MAD.
There is multiple reasons for her to not be in the mood, and sadly, Miles coming to help isn't exactly making that list smaller, for Miles disappointment.
Tumblr media
Sorry Miles, part of being spiderman is helping people that actually don't want you help, you'll get use to it.
In here comes Pav, an amazing ray of sunshine who is great and deserves all the love he gets. Wish I knew enough about Desi culture and the Kerala region to make him justice, I hope someone who does makes an analysis.
Moving on, Pav is great, he saves them with ease as well as giving an extra punch to the bad guy, all while no time to pick up what's going on.
Tumblr media
I adore how Gwen barely explains the situation to him and he already knows what's up. To be fair he isn't wrong, Miles may feel guilty about this spot mess and definitely wants to help out because is the right thing, but let's face it he also didn't want to never see Gwen again and probably aside of wanting to help he wanted to help her.
Everyone has seen this scene because it was part of the trailers so you would think there is not much I can say that someone hasn't said, but while looking at this scene I picked up onto something I never realized in my previous viewings and had be cackling.
But before we get to that, what's Gwen and Miles' reaction?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Miles? Immediately denies it, which is to be expected. If you had ever been in Miles position 99% of the chances is that you would do the same. He likes Gwen, a lot, but he and Gwen aren't officially anything and having the guy you just met talking about your private feelings isn't ideal.
Gwen? Well, her dialogue doesn't give me to much to work on, she sounds like she is trying to downplay the situation a bit, not outright denied it(probably because she knows Miles definitely has feelings for her,) but c'mon, he is not that down bad for her right?
Her hand gestures were interesting, honestly this part goes on so fast I didn't truly get what she was doing until I was watching it half speed.
This accompanied with the dialogue really has me thinking she is trying to act that no, nothing is happening, but is a very weak and I think what I love most about this part is that no one is buying it (Not Pavitr, not the audience, and probably not themselves,) yet they still try.
Tumblr media
Now this part? Oh this is precious.
Here is the thing, the second line comes from Gwen, which she says very quickly after he says this.
But Gwen isn't the one who's feelings are being put on the grill now, so why exactly Gwen is trying to convince Miles than Pavitr isn't good at reading people?
The next part comes with speculation, but hear me out.
Pavitr is part of the organization, right? I doubt he knows about the canon events part, but he knows that there are anomalies crashing in another dimensions and the other spiders are suppose to come to catch them so they don't do a mess. He probably knows how strict is Miguel about this too.
So if Pavitr said that Miles must be in love with Gwen for following her uninvited, what do you think he would say if he knew that Gwen literally slacked on a mission because she was spending all her time with Miles?
Tumblr media
Yeah and later why people wonder why Gwen is leading the poll on who is crushing the hardest.
Let's move on.
Tumblr media
Small addendum but when Miles is asking how Pavitr already has a watch at six months, Gwen is unsure what to say when she gets caught up.
The tower scene deserves multiple post (for multiple reasons too) but let's just remember that Gwen was trying to let down Miles easy about the association since she knew Miguel wouldn't allow Miles in.
While I do think part of her reaction is by being caught on a lie in which she still doesn't know how to tell the truth, it doesn't escape me that a big reason why she said that lie in the first place was that she didn't want Miles to be hurt about being an anomaly.
She never had a chance to say what she really thinks about this (which is kind of her fault, she could at least attempted to explain some parts before getting to Miguel; I am still angry how everyone let Miles think this was a good thing until the very end.) I wonder if part of the reason is that she may had a speech similar to Peter B's and maybe the creators wanted to reserve it for the next movie.
Tumblr media
Yep, she is still mad.
I don't have much to say here, I like this joke; they are spidey people and Miles is already getting up so Gwen know is not serious anyways.
Tumblr media
Oh Pav, you don't know half of it.
I love how even when they aren't being corny he still smells the tension, because let's face it, I wouldn't had this much material to analyze if there wasn't a constant influx of little gestures back and forth from these two showing always how important they are to each other.
I remember when I first saw this scene I thought Pav doesn't have enough information to know this, and now I just think the guy is smarter than me.
Tumblr media
Me the next few months because I swear I need to have some resolution with these two or I would lose it.
Tumblr media
Miles quickly gets to Gwen to talk about the plan, which shipping aside, makes sense. He doesn't know Pavitr and their initial exchange wasn't ideal, not to mention that he may feel he would ask him about Gwen if he gets to her.
I don't think they realized what Pavitr was saying, which honestly that just highlights how focused they are on each other. They are in Pavitr's dimension, trying to catch this guy, and instead of asking him if he knows anything that could help them, or just include him in this conversation considering the three of them are on this now; they just zeroed on each other almost without thinking.
Which is funny considering they don't have that much experience working together for this to just be second nature, maybe the second nature is just stop listening to other things around each other.
I guess this is why Pavitr wasn't bothered about not being included, he has the best seat for this.
Tumblr media
Sorry to just ad another joke, but this is literally me, while these two are talking about how to catch The Spot, he is just looking INTENSIVELY at them to see if he can spot another thing.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Okay, is finishing each other's phrases kind of a romantic trope? Yes.
Do Gwen has plausible deniability, since they are just seeing the Spot got towards Alchemax, and she knew before hand that the Spot was going for universes that has one? Yes.
Do I think the filmakers, who had put so much effort in this movie, from the way things are said to the colors, didn't do this on purpose? Oh absolutely not.
The thing that I found funny about all of this is that this is Gwen's entire dilemma with Miles, she convinced it can't work and is better to try to pretend those feelings aren't there, except neither him or her can't help it, those moments and the connection they have just keep happening.
Tumblr media
Short answer Pav: They don't.
Okay! With this we finish their tour around Mumbattan, the immediate next part has been technically covered, so will probably talk about what happens after Hobie's presentation.
This part was a lot more fun that I expected, I was a bit nervous to go about this since I didn't think there was much I could talk about, but just like always, I just keep loving this movie more and more.

Really cool analysis on the Robin Jason meets Red Hood Jason prompt!! :D Loved that you called it his 'worst nightmare! It's so apt that it made my brain juices tingle a bit. So just for brainstorming I think... Robin Jason would be much much more understanding towards Red Hood Jason. Yes, he's the kid that with his dying breath sheilded Sheila Haywood no matter what.
Thinking about "Elmore’s Lady" in #421 and "Just Deserts" in #422 (Jason is just in the second half!). Robin Jason is the only male character here who agrees and empathizes with Judy for luring and killing the "Dumpster Slasher" (Guy has murdered and implied to have r-worded 10 women) because her sister was the second victim. Jason in the same comic also beats up a pimp to the point Batman has to interfere.
Plus our famous #424, "The Diplomat’s Son" for another example.
Jason Todd imo is someone that has a heart of gold and bleeds empathy. So much of it. And that doesn't change when he becomes Red Hood. Crime in Crime Alley is completely different from that of the rest of Gotham. While their biggest issue is the Rouges and such crime, Crime alley's worst parts are the rampant crime, poverty, the lack of proper structure and governance, and the literal impossibility of getting out of that cycle of crime one is born with.
Jason knows this. Crime alley can't be taken care of with just some charity when half the orphanages are so utterly fucked that kids prefer the streets. It can't be saved by just beating up some folks and calling it a day. Nor does prison adequately help anyone. Do those henchmen have money to even get treatment for a broken bone? For those ribs that got smashed? What happens to the kids they have when they're in prison (Aka same thing that happened with Jason. Willis is in prison? Becomes a street kid. Cycle continues.)
I like that Red Hood Jason targets the upper folks that manage crime. UTRH? 8 heads in a duffle bag. But not one low rank henchman. To control crime is his current 'solution.' Is it 100% correct? Maybe not. But this way most 'innocent' folks don't get hurt. He can clear out orphanages. Give a safe space for the 'working women'.
I think Robin Jason will be horrified at first because wtf. But he has that same bleeding heart. And he's smart. He knows crime alley, he shares that empathy towards victims old or young. I think they might get along a bit :) maybe.
Red Hood Jason gives second chances, definitely 3rd too, multiple. But not infinite like Batman. He's isolated from all his family (as he always is. Catherine, Willis, Sheila) and he still bleeds love and protectiveness. Jaybin would see a angry hurt victim who is so so kind. And so so hurting. He should just give him a hug honestly.
(Also your fics are cool and I wish I could print them on edible paper and nom)
Perfectly put my thoughts in words, honestly.
“Bleeding heart” applies to Jason a little too well and it’s heartbreaking. 😔 especially because most people don’t look further than the whole “he kills people” thing.
Yes, he does, but he goes for the ones who truly deserve it. Some that are arguably worse than the whole rogue gallery combined.
And even so, he certainly doesn’t have fun doing it.
It’s a necessity.

Hi i want to thank you for the QPR vs Moirail venn diagram. Its a rly excellent way of showing the difference. My gripe is about human romance, and how people will either 1- conflate it in a 1:1 ratio with Matesprit, or 2- claim it is “all the quadrants”. I personally feel both are false equivalency, and that the human romance is similar to both pale and red rom* and SO i was wondering if you agreed w that assessment, or if not, if you have the time to explain your thoughts on human traditional romance vs the quadrants (perhaps w another nifty graph)?
* which is why Rose’s destructive tendencies during sburb & her descent into addiction on the meteor were not addressed by kanaya, who feared palezoning herself like she did with vriska
OH MY GOD! YES!!!! why am i getting such great asks today?!
no, you're EXACTLY right. people are constantly conflating matespritship in those two ways; "all of the quadrants" being especially irritating (since Some humans occasionally argue, Occasionally in a kinky way, and i guess that means that they totally have all of kismesissitude covered?? :/).
matespritship is its very own thing. of the two interpretations above, i feel the idea that it's 1:1 to human romance is the closest to true. i mean, that's what they literally say in the comic, for gog's sake.
humans do not truly incorporate moirallegiance, kismesissitude, or auspisticism into their lives in any meaningful way. while it's possible for humans to sometimes have romances that might seem more like one of those than matespritship, they're considered abnormal or toxic-- and they often ARE, because humans do not have the same sort of biological drives or social understanding of these things that trolls do. humans do not understand the true needs and ramifications, or even the ROMANCE of moirallegiance. humans would be hard pressed to understand a kismesissitude in a 'healthy' way. i don't even need to mention how auspisticism flies over people's heads.
so, yes, humans only have the one quadrant. (and karkat vantas, i am sorry to say, is not going to "human date" anyone as the "solution to his quadrant problems". this would literally be the same as him trying to stick only to matespritship, and we all know exactly how that turned out.)
however! matespritship is not an exact 1:1 on human romance either. the direct quote from the comic is;
"[It's] the closest parallel to the human concept of romance trolls have." [x]
this is not really expanded on much in the text, honestly-- the intricacies of the social and biological traits of matespritship aren't shown enough for us to draw clear distinctions between them and human romance.
however, i think you're right that rose and kanaya are the best example we have of that-- despite them both aiming for matespritship, they have cultural misunderstanding quite often from some of rose's flirting, or even just her needs, crossing wires into a pale threshold that kanaya is weary of.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
it's entirely possible that the differences between troll and human "hearts" might have made it difficult for kanaya to really connect with rose's problems and discuss them with her.
which might explain why when things go "better" for them in the retcon, they're portrayed reading a book on troll romance together:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
it could be implied here that searching for a more in-depth understanding of quadrants actually helped rose with her ability to connect to kanaya-- and maybe, reading into it a little too hard here, this also could have been an opportunity for kanaya to work through her vriska-based hangups with the pale quadrant. that's entirely speculation on my part, though.
at the end of the day, we don't really KNOW enough about the details of quadrants for me to paint a clear picture of how matespritship differs from human romance. i mean, i could try, but it would certainly be more of a headcanon post than an analysis one!

I keep being all up in your inbox, but I just gotta ask you another question about Zutara. So, based on everything we know about the show and the characters, how do you think Aang would react to Zutara if it was canon? Maybe at first we would be jealous and mopey about it, but when he pieces together that Zuko is a good partner because of how much he loves, respects, and helps Katara as an equal, Aang realizes that he treated his friendship with Katara too childishly and THAT'S why Katara wasn't so happy about their kisses on the Black Sun and on Ember Island. Aang realizes that Katara doesn't want him because he was too immature and it was unfair. But Aang swallows the hard pill of reality, and uses self-reflection to grow up and be a better person. Also, what do you think about Aang being with Toph? I've read an analysis that Toph would've been a better partner for Aang because Toph is much more likely to put her foot down at Aang's foolerly, and that Toph doesn't glorify Aang with the rose-tinted lens of him being the Avatar.
Tumblr media
This could go a few ways.
But seeing as Aang has selfish tendencies and the writers are idiots when it comes to writing romance, I'm gonna go with Aang being jealous.
Let's pretend that Aang is a real kid for this instance. He is 12. He is going through puberty and has a crush on the first girl he has ever seen (you know because the Air Nomads were sexually segregated and there is a reason for that). It's just... eww. He gives me stalker vibes and then expects Katara just to be with him because he says he loves her. Then on top of all that, her choice to have any relationship is limited to Aang because of a fortune teller. Honestly, it's a horrible thing.
Aangs world view is that everything revolves around him, yet he doesn't want to take responsibility for it. He never does either. I honestly think Katara (if she were a real person) is pressured into 'loving' Aang. The problem is, he's doing the pressuring. I've seen this brought up in countless fics I've read, and we all seem to be on the same page. If they were real people, this relationship would absolutely be on the toxic side. So, yeah, I don't think Aang would let it go if Katara left him for Zuko. He wouldn't be happy because it changes all of his 'plans' for reviving the Air Nomad culture. That's a lot to put on Katara, too.
Now since these are fictional characters, I'd put my money on Bryke causing Aang to go into the Avatar state (which has happened before in one of Aangs childish tantrums) which is not good for anyone. I hate that they characterize him this way because it leaves a really bad taste in my mouth. Like calm the fuck down dude, you're supposed to be following Air Nomad culture... oh wait, you know Jack shit about it because you only learned the basics. Like ffs... the writing is all over the place with that.
But no I don't think fiction Aang would be okay with Katara and Zuko. He'd probably grin and bear it, but inside he's just one step away from Avatar state because Katara was supposed to be his forever girl.
If Aang was truly written to be wise and forgiving, (which he isnt) maybe he would let it go, but no. That's not what we got. He's... a very very flawed character.

Heyy, good morning!
I read several of your posts (which are divine) and, as I love your analysis, I would like to know two things:
1; What do you think of the theories (from what I've seen of the Ewriels) about Gwyn being a lightsinger?
And it is believed that the following excerpt, present in acosf in the scene in which the priestesses sing, has some “deep” meaning or clues for the future;
"The music took form behind Nesta’s eyes as the priestesses sang lyrics in languages so old, no one voiced them anymore. She saw what the song spoke of: mossy earth and golden sun, clear rivers and the deep shadows of an ancient forest."
Sorry if something seemed confusing, my English isn't very good...
Thank you very much!!! And I have to say, I really love the color coding you added into your message, my eyes are enjoying how it was all presented (and your English was excellent so no worries).
1. I think the way E/riels view the lightsinger theory is their method to eliminate Gwyn as a possible love interest for Az and that is something I completely disagree with. A way to make Gwyn evil and an excuse to explain away any draw Az might feel to her.
Could Gwyn have some sort of lightsinger heritage? I don't think it's a complete impossibility. We know that she's a quarter river nymph. We know that her grandmother seduced a High Fae male. Not that Gwyn is out there trying to seduce anyone, the sins of our elders are not the sins of our own.
But there is something in her grandmothers background to suggest that maybe she was out to "lure" the man she seduced (though we don't have enough information to know whether it was truly born from sinister intent or not) and we're told that lightsingers do lure their victims to them.
SJM did use language to describe Gwyn's song, as if it were beckoning and summoning those listening to her. It put Nesta into a bit of a trance like state which led her to the Harp.
That language could be SJM hinting at there being a power there or SJM simply telling us people get lost in the music in their world as they do ours.
Nesta tells us there's something about Gwyn she can't quite figure out just as lightsingers appear one way but end up another but again again, that could just be her setting up for Gwyn's secret father reveal
So it's not like there isn't a case to be made for her having some lightsinger in her background (though it would be a small percent) but those that claim she's be evil for it are being ignorant to literally every other power that exists in the IC.
SJM decided to give us the Valkyrie storyline in SF and Rhys tells Elain that while they could be lovely, the second they stepped into the battlefield they became bloodthirsty.
Mor is described as being bloodthirsty.
Rhys killed people at Amarantha's request.
Feyre used her powers to trick Tamlin into believe she was getting a bit too friendly with Lucien.
Feyre slipped into Lucien's mind without his knowledge.
Azriel tortures people in what Cassian tells us is a symphony of pain. He attacked Eris in a High Lord meeting when all Eris did was make a inappropriate comment.
Rhys and Feyre both used their powers to attack Ianthe for her inappropriate behaviors towards men.
Would it really matter if Gwyn was part lightsinger and could use her powers to manipulate their enemies?
How is that any worse than what the rest of the IC has done?
Just because someone has a dark power doesn't mean they'll use it on innocent people and even when some of the IC have used their powers against innocent people (like Feyre allowing Spring to fall despite what it meant for the innocent and Rhys allowing Claire to be taken by Amarantha despite knowing she was not Feyre), they are still considered the good guys regardless.
Honestly, I don't think E/riels realize that the lighsinger theory actually builds up the compatibility for Gwyn and Az considering Az struggles with the dark things he's done and Gwyn having a matching darkness would be a way they could help one another accept both the good and the bad within them.
You know, I don't know if this excerpt:
"The music took form behind Nesta’s eyes as the priestesses sang lyrics in languages so old, no one voiced them anymore. She saw what the song spoke of: mossy earth and golden sun, clear rivers and the deep shadows of an ancient forest."
Is supposed to have a deeper meaning in regards to ships but what I think it does is show us the way SJMs mind works. She has decided that "mossy earth and golden sun" are complimentary things and that is Elain and Lucien. She has decided that "clear rivers and deep shadows" pair well and Gwyn's clear eyes are described as bodies of water and deep shadows is clearly a reference to Az.

Hey! I'm sooooo happy to finally find another person that ships Scarecrow and Batman! This is ship is so underrated and it deserves MUCH more recognition 👏☺️ Also, I love your art and analysis of these characters!
I don't know if you've answered this before, but what do you think about the Arkhamverse version of them? I would prefer Arkham Knight, but if you feel uncomfortable with it, Arkham Asylum is fine (I love both). I don't know what to think of it at the moment and I'm trying to form an opinion!
I hope you have an amazing day!! ❤️❤️
Can I be 🐓 anon if you allow anons?
hello there!! i’m also happy to meet another fellow-minded scarebat believer out there! scarebat is just such a fascinating ship. i’m honestly go uwu when i see other people enjoying it too! this pair indeed deserve more recognition an’ love! an’ aw, heck, thank you! it makes me blush knowing that someone can have fun with those lil, whimsical things i do!
an’ oh, nope. i didn’t answer this one! arkhamverse’s content is smth that i see circulating around a lot, but i didn’t see much content for that version of scarebat. i guess, the constant choking, an’ ‘get on your knees now, crane’ wasn’t enough to awaken smth in anyone *besides me an’ 2-3 other fine wine enjoyers*. which is once again too bad, bc even design wise, they’re kinda a banger in their own right. whichever version we take, it’s just a good contrast between batman’s heavy armour an’ jon’s typical rags *with some cyber-punk touch later on*. like, while i’m a simple gal who tends to simp for ‘classic’ outlooks, i do appreciate what the game did. gotta love crane’s freddy krueger syringe glove, an’ how he got it embedded into bruce’s neck an’ chest, an’ then got stabbed with it himself lol. there is a lot of homoerotic stuff, which can be done with it! esp bc it’s such a close range weapon, an’ each version of akrham’s crane used it differently. in arkham asylum, he injected the poison into bruce’s arm. the desperate, angry action kinda reminded me of a pissy, bristling animal, that would bite your hand, when if you try to grab it. in the next game, jon was way more vicious, less of a thrashing opossum that you find in your garage an’ more of a snake, that you accidentally step on, while you climbing down your porch. the vast difference between his mental states then an’ later on is an interesting theme for speculations. esp bc bruce is also worse to wear in the next game. in fact, i’d say that arkham knight sorta depicts them at their subjective ‘worst’ almost. an’ it says smth, bc i don’t think that either of them are ever in good mental place.
i kinda find it interesting how some people would assume, that if person acts cold an’ detached, it means that they’re ‘in control’, when sometimes, it’s the opposite. in bruce’s case for sure. but i’d like this for some versions of crane as well, bc it suits his psychotype as well. not to mention, that jon’s hygiene in arkham knight is at its lowest too, which says a few things about his mental state right off the bat. or how he didn’t seem to properly treat his own wounds, just instantly throwing himself into his biggest scheme. a man truly possessed by revenge.
but welp, if we go into specifics of each separate version of arkhamverse, i guess, i will start with arkham asylum! my memories about those games are a bit rusty, but i’ll go with what i remember. providing more emphasis on arkham knight, since they do have more going on an’ you seem more interested in that specific version too!
still, first things first, i love how jonathan was half-naked during the first game lol. it’s just so funny to me, bc he is usually covered from head to toe, but in there, he was shirtless, wearing pants that held for dear life on those skinny hips an’ i’ll bet dude had nothing underneath them either. he’s never was the most proper person, admittingly, but idk, running around the dirty asylum an’ hunting your enemy while showing off your nips an’ stomach is…smth else. esp for a prude like crane. but i guess, at that point of time, he seemed to be so deranged, that his usual body issues no longer worried him. besides, poison ivy walked around in her underwear an’ blouse that was held together by one durable button, why can’t he do the same? it’s not like batman would comment on it, even if he wanted to. but like, honestly, all the hints of possible spooky + sexy times were there, so it’s a shocker, that no one has done anything about it yet. i mean, you literally have jonathan, who was flashing the bat for 20 minutes straight, an’ it’s not smth that the majority of cranes would ever have the guts to do in any other set-up. btas an’ comicverse ones would downright combust, before they’d be walking around batman shirtless. but not that gremlin. he was all about it. even if i do think, that he wasn't fully aware about what it means, an’ that it’s kinda embarrassing to do smth like that, while you are trying to be intimidating. he’s not bane. it’s not like he has some crazy muscular mass to show off. but it is very stimulating to think about the ways it all can be used in. the cold bat’s armour to exposed skin of a spooky toothpick. batman grips scarecrow’s clothes, when they fight. in there, it’ll be almost all naked skin. that’s a sexy imagery to have!
as for the substance of the arkham asylum on itself, i don’t think that scarecrow was in there a lot. but then again, maybe i just remember it this way. it is however curious how fast crane goes from campy looney to more serious, jarred person, we see in the next game. an’ his whole motivation shifts from ‘you’re just like us and have fears’ to ‘there is no saviour. no hope’. almost like he was very, very let down, when batman failed to save him that one time lol. but considering that arkhamverse kept jonathan’s comic origin, it’s safe to assume that yeah, he took that very-very personally. he isn’t the joker, who kinda never brings up how many times, batman casually let him ‘die’. the btas alone has like 3 occasions like that lmao. meanwhile, jon went into a scornful cold rage, after just one epic fail, which, at the end of the day, is very him lol. the drugged up bat didn’t save him, that’s it. no one’s supremacy, fuck gotham. an’ i’m only partly jeering here.
which leads us straight to to arkham knight version, an’ to bruce instantly going up there an’ choking the living hell out of jon, the second he sees him. what a reunion! esp with that whole head hitting an’ throwing crane onto floor, like a ragdoll. batman just had to assert his dominance, even when jonathan barely opened his mouth. *bc yeah, you stay down, bottom*. i like how crane tried his hardest to be serious an’ imposing during that whole deal, but the bat just wasn't super amused. yet, like usual, he did give the scarecrow room to speak later on. allowing him to walk around him. an’ boy, gotta appreciate that ‘bad guy's sly hips play’ as scarecrow circled the bat. it was quite a vision. even with fucked up leg, he managed to pull that off. i wish there were more moments like this. they had a lot of potential for more brutal scarebat interactions, than some other versions of them. all the cues for it were there. batman was hallucinating a ghost of a dead clown, who wouldn’t shut up about whatever, an’ jonathan was all about his ‘end goal’, not caring what he had to do to get to it. what an explosive combo. i was low-key surprised, that bruce didn’t wipe the floor with crane just out of pure frustration, an’ then some. an’ considering how fucked up they both are in that version, it wouldn’t put it past the ghost!joker to suggest they’d do smth else with crane, if batman is unwilling to kill him. there is actually a lot of leeway, with bruce blaming some stuff on his personal brain damage, while joker just keeps on pouring gasoline into the fire. i even had this one idea about the joker playing a horrible matchmaker just to make everyone even more miserable, but mostly just bruce. all while not expecting crane to be able to return the sentiment in his own messed up manner.
an’ speaking of sentiment, i do think that it can be here as well. it’ll be buried under layers an’ layers of pseudo-resentment, but that’s like typical scarebat. no one ever talk about their real emotions in that ship lol. well, not in a normal way. in arkham knight, i suppose the joker can be a narrator of bruce an’ crane’s relationships. not missing a beat to tell them *well, bruce* how much they suck. an’ he won’t even be wrong, batman abandoning some of his duties, bc well, this. an’ crane as per usual getting confused by feelings, that isn’t hatred or fear. they can enter those intense relationships with the worst kind of miscommunication. bc they awful at it, when they’re not super unstable *or at least one of them isn’t*, an’ now they can be godawful at it, bc batman is close to breaking point, an’ jonathan is at his bitterests an’ pettiest. crane also can assume, that he can ‘unmade’ the bat this way, all while messing up his own scheme in the process. with god’s help, they might even survive this. idk about gotham tho lol. the joker being a third wheel an’ technically a cuck in that situation just adds how messed up it all is. but maybe with jon’s ‘help’, they can deal with that problem too. i don’t think, crane would like to share in any way. i mean, he would have been pissed off, if he learned that batman had a mini-devil on his shoulder the whole time. in a way, it kinda defeats the purpose of it all. it would almost like taking all the credit from him, an’ he won’t stand for it. crane combating bruce’s personal ghosts for his own selfish, possessive needs is smth, i would have liked to see for them. jonathan accidently being a good psychiatrist to bruce is my peak scarebat dark comedy. similar to how in ‘kings of fear’, it was basically ‘i can fix him, but bitch, you’re worse’ kind of deal too. in return, bruce can try an’ help crane actually put some proper garnet for his leg on, an’ look a bit less like a sickly *even if scary-spooky-cool* animal. they can find some middle ground, even if for questionable reasons, or they can have that slow-burn from enemies to lovers thing too. heck, i mean, it’s a wonder how come that scarecrow didn’t kidnap bruce first to try an’ break him a tad more, before making gotham see ‘that they had no hope’ an’ all that.
on less game plot related notes, i do like to play around with what can be done about jon’s state in arkham knight. like his face being all messed up, half of his body moving way more stiffly, there are a lot of things that can be done with it. an’ the parallel of batman being crippled on the inside an’ crane being pretty much this an’ then also damaged outside of it….mmm, that’s just good. also we all know that nolanverse crane moaned ‘batman’ like a whore while his hair were pulled, but what about arkham knight’s scarecrow lil gay gasps an’ whimpers, when bruce held him by the throat an’ injected him with his own toxin? if gordon an’ jason weren’t there, i wonder what might have happened lol. love scarecrow’s scared expressions in that game btw, somehow they still manage to make him look cute.
an’ now for a bit of nitpicky bit. when i look back at arkham knight, like some other folks, i do wish there was less…joker in it. he did add some fun elements there or here, but he should have been a background segment tbh. i really wanted to see more of mindbending stuff similar to level in arkham asylum. batman ‘given into’ hallucination joker’s cheers to kill crane, even if it was all a mindfuck bit was tasteless for me. if they wanna make bruce kinda walk that route, i’d rather see him doing it by his own misgivings an’ rage. tho, i do give credit where it’s duo, crane saying ‘you’ve changed’ an’ not sounding esp thrilled about it was curious smth.
but omg, that’s got long, haha. hope, it’s not too troublesome. i’m kinda chatty an’ rambly kind of person, esp when i talk about things i love. can’t talk short in most cases.
thank you for the ask btw! i do enjoy talking about scarebat a lot, no matter what version. an’ i hope, that your day is going great as well! i do apologise for how late some of my responses are coming through. i tend to pick at questions for a couple of days or so, just to make sure that i kinda give it my utmost thoughts, haha. hopefully, my answer helped you to form your own vision on the matter better or gave you an idea how different / similar you see smth, when it comes to those two.
an’ sure thing! that’s a cute symbole btw!

I love your Tolys analysis so much! There's so much to look at when it comes to Tolys. His relationships with everyone are so complex. He's Ivan's favorite and learns to live around the abuse, he openly dislikes Gilbert, he's ride or die for Feliks, he enjoyed being with Alfred, even though he was still treated like a maid (but obviously a much times better than his usual situation). another sad thing is he's overly serious. He has to walk on eggshells so often, ofc jokes go over his head :(
I love looking at his relationships with others and can honestly see him having intimate relations with all of the above you mentioned as well as very complex ones at that.
So even in a non romantic way, I began to think hmm what makes them work well together, what draws them together and what drives them apart.
Feliks and Tolys
What works or draws them to each other
They know each other better than anyone. They've forged such a strong bond because they had to. Their marriage was purely political but they ended up making it work for a really long time. I think they both push each other out of their comforts since they trust eachother to do so. With Feliks, Tolys is one of the few people he feels truly comfortable to be around. They bring out the other's lighthearted side as well. They have each other's backs.
What drives them apart
They know each other so well they lack boundaries and communication between them can go poorly.
With Feliks, Tolys is one of the few people he's comfortable around and this unfortunately makes Tolys almost akin to a security blanket which puts a strain on their relationship. Also Tolys is not the best with straight forward communication and isn't good with explaining how he feels and setting boundaries which to someone like Feliks it's very hard to read and figure out the way to appropriately interact in response
Alfred and Tolys
What works or draws them to each other
To Alfred Tolys is a good friend, a good mentor and and doesn't dismiss him for his youthfulness.
To Tolys, Alfred is ambitious, driven, and innovative and Tolys finds him very interesting and he is very willing to experience life in the US.
What drives them apart
You know those people who are nice and you consider yourself friends with them but there's something that keeps you from forging a stronger bond because you just can't fully relate and understand each other because you've had vastly different life experiences? That's where I see them drifting apart and maybe not in like a breakup but they are on separate paths.
Also I think Alfred's naïvete and idealism would not mesh well for Tolys.
Ivan and Tolys
What works or draws them to each other
For Ivan, Tolys is kind, reliant, empathetic, loyal, and always willing to lend an ear and listen. Tolys knows Ivan very well and knows his softness, his fears, and sees his vulnerability, Ivan genuinely likes Tolys and is quite affectionate towards him.
What drives them apart
Ivan doesn't want to lose people in his life so in an effort to prevent loss he ends up pushing people away when trying to ensure they don't leave him.
Tolys just like with Feliks is driven by emotion before reason.
Read my fic I sum it up perfectly there.
Gilbert and Tolys
What works or draws them to each other
They have been a constant opponent for the other for centuries, they have studied each other as opponents and know just how intense the other can get and this breeds a mutual admiration for their former opponent, the way it feels in a final match and you see how well your opponent fights and you see an honour in them facing you.
What drives them apart
That's the problem is that no matter how much they try fate seems to bring them back together
Lietpru endgame perhaps?

maid's worst nightmare - ch 37
Hello friends, finally back with another chapter. Things will be a little slow because I'm writing another fic for fnaf:sb so please be patient!
Previous chapters
@sovereign-of-succ
"Hold on, darling," Bowser rumbled, slipping his hands underneath your arms. You felt weightless as he lifted you up like you were a feather and gingerly placed you into the warm water of the tub; you sighed heavily as the water enveloped your sore, aching body.
"You really didn't have to do all this…" But you weren't complaining! The massage had felt wonderful and was just what you needed, although you were already beginning to feel sore from it.
Bowser snorted as he leaned against the side of the tub. "After all that? I sure as hell do, and I'm happy to, too. Besides, if ya don't soak in the water now, you just gonna be crazy sore later… I mean, shit. I reckon I'mma hafta carry you to the track anyway."
You settled against the side he was leaning on, gently pulling one of his hands to your chest. You knew that ordinarily you would've been embarrassed, shy, and unwilling to let him keep seeing you naked… so this was truly a testament to how much you trusted him already. Also maybe it was the result of getting a little relief after such a long time of fear.
"I mean, I won't complain if you wanna carry me," you said nonchalantly. He hummed curiously; you didn't have to look at him to know he was smirking a little. "Admittedly my legs still feel like jelly."
"There it is," he snickered softly.
"Oh, shut up."
He shifted and kissed your temple, his hand sliding down to your left tight and giving a gentle squeeze. "You gonna be fine, baby. Luckily we don't gotta do much for the race but sit; we got screens to see what's happening at the far ends of the tracks."
"What about lunch? Surely we've missed it," you hummed. "And after that little bit of exercise, I'm starving."
"Hmm, I like a woman with an appetite," he growled softly in your ear.
You couldn't resist rolling your eyes. "What's next? You like a woman with a face, too? Maybe a body?"
His hand shifted to your other thigh, also giving it a light squeeze. "Mostly I like a woman who likes me back. Can't be too picky these days, but physically existin' with lips I can kiss sure is a plus." He nuzzled you gently.
"You big softy," you murmured, turning your head and kissing his nose lightly. "...About lunch, though…"
He laughed softly as he pulled his hand back to your chest. You couldn't help a smile, although honestly you were already feeling your stomach growl - it wouldn't be too long before you'd start to get hangry, you could feel it.
"I'll go tell 'em to bring it if they ain't done so already." He pulled his hand back so he could get to his feet, and after one more kiss to your head he turned and ambled out of the bathroom to go inquire about your lunch.
You took the chance to wash thoroughly, your hair included, and although you tried to get yourself to analyze why you weren't freaking out or reacting with embarrassment, your brain refused to engage.
The long and short of it was that you were safe and loved. No other analysis was required.
When Bowser returned, he had some clothes grasped in one of his big hands. "Lunch is on the table," he announced as he set your clothes on the counter. "I wanted ya to soak longer, but we shouldn't let it get cold."
Thank diety! Lunch!
"Alright. Help me out, please," you smiled gratefully at him.
He draped a towel over one of his forearms before stooping near you to offer his other one across your chest. You put both arms over it, and as easily as he'd set you into the tub, he lifted you out of it and onto your feet. He didn't pull his arm away until he was sure you could at least stand on your own.
"Legs a little better, then?" he asked, handing you the towel.
"I can at least stand, yes," you nodded as you dried off - carefully, of course. He stood back a little to give you some space. "Thanks, big man."
"Anythin' for my queen," he purred.
Ah, there it was, the feeling of flustered embarrassment. Your cheeks flushed red, but you tried to keep a little composure.
"Let's not get ahead of ourselves here," you tried to say pleasantly, but it definitely came out in a mumble.
Bowser snickered softly. "No? Seems like ya might like that one, you sure?"
You eyed him; two could potentially play this game. Although for your part, getting called 'queen' might not have been so flustering if he wasn't an actual king. It had a few deeper implications that still made you a little nervous. Maybe you could get used to it, though…
But you'd have to think about that later. Right now you needed to get back at him with something that would make him blush just as hard.
"You gotta let a lady have a breather, you know," you murmured, letting him gather you into his arms so he could carry you to the table. Today, you'd definitely let him carry you wherever.
"But you so cute when you blushin'," he complained as he sat you in a chair. "I can't help it, 'specially since ya still won't tell me yer real name…"
"That's a discussion for later."
Even though you didn't say it too firmly, Bowser sighed and nodded. "We gonna talk about it, though…?"
You smiled warmly at him, lifting the silver dome off of your burger and fries. "Promise," you murmured. He deserved to know the truth, but lunch time as your hanger was creeping in was definitely not the time. Honestly, Bowser was lucky you knew how to control it!
…Who were you kidding? He'd probably think it was adorable despite your very real irritation.
Either way, you picked the burger and bit into it just as your stomach growled loudly enough for him to hear. He laughed, but just shook his head and followed suit with his own burger.
Honestly, after getting fucked so thoroughly and taken care of so tenderly, this was the best burger you'd ever had in your life. Shit, maybe that was the case anyway, but there was definitely something to be said about eating some delicious comfort food after some actual, genuine love and comfort.
Between bites, once you'd had a little water to wash everything down, you smiled warmly over at the man sitting across from you. He blinked, but smiled back as he reached for his own drink.
You waited for him to start drinking before you said, "Just wanted to thank you for today… daddy."
Predictably, he choked on his drink, a dark blush immediately settling in his cheeks as he coughed hard, struggling to process what you just said to him.
You just smiled sweetly and kept eating like nothing had happened.
That's what he got for flustering you.

Despite Sayeon's crush on Jaeil being quite obvious, to me it seems less that she ACTUALLY has a romantic crush on him and more that he is the only person who has ever shown kindness to her.
Sayeon's mother died when she was very, very young. And even then I think that Sara was very distant from her daughters (Judging by the way Samin talks about her)
Samin is a terrible, terrible sister (even Sayeon acknowledges this, saying "We're not going to pretend that you were a good sister [...]")
Sayeon's father, Mr. Lee, is... completely out of the picture. We don't know anything about him so I'm going to assume that, just like Sara, that he was distant from his daughters
And despite Sayeon's current bitterness towards her sister, there was a time where she truly, genuinely loved and relied on Samin. But ever since Samin's murder (or in Sayeon's own words, "punishment") the two have grown incredibly distant. Samin may still love Sayeon (she still wanted Sayeon to stay with her and seemed hurt the night before she left) but she does not show it.
The only person that Sayeon allowed herself to befriend was Jaeil Kim, and he was quite literally the only person that she knew. He was the only person that she ever opened her heart to, he was the only person who ever showed real kindness to her, and who seemed to genuinely care about her wellbeing. (From Jungwoo's words about Sayeon, I am also assuming that everyone else in their school was distant from Sayeon and sometimes even cold).
And, as a result, since Sayeon didn't know anyone else, since she didn't have any other options, her brain just latched on to the one person who was nice to her and said "This one. I'm gonna have a crush on this one because he is nice and those feelings are going to be your problem now. Good luck!"
And Sayeon is... struggling. Like. Visibly. I don't know how to explain this but it seems like she too also knows that her feelings really shouldn't be there, and really wants to see him as just a friend. But since he is the only person that she has... it's impossible for her not to blush or call out to him after meeting a god.
I'm just saying this as someone who was ALSO emotionally detached, was being abused at home and had literally NO FRIENDS aside from one (1) girl in school that was nice to me, and ended up having a crush on said girl because she was the only one that I had: Sayeon's feelings seem unrequited. Not only to Jaeil but to Sayeon herself.
Let's be real, Jaeil thrashes cars with a guy (seemingly???) goes out partying 'till god knows when, doesn't study, and even though he is nice, he's honestly a terrible option for a romantic partner. If Sayeon had other options, other friends, he would just be another one of them, not a crush. And Sayeon knows that.
And... he doesn't seem to like her romantically either. Idk, Sleepacross may very well publish a chapter on Jaeil's POV one day and he may have a thought bubble talking about how much he loves her and when that happens I'll eat my words, but as it stands? He treats her just like he does anyone else, like he would any friend.
...Which is what makes Jaeil's loss all the more heartbreaking. He is the only person Sayeon ever had, the only person she loved (be it platonically or romantically, it doesn't matter)
When Sayeon eventually finds out about his death--about his murder-- she is going to be devastated. His death is going to be her breaking point and quite frankly I don't think she'll ever recover from that.
And... this is the end of my little rant!!
I am NOT making this post to invalidate or speak ill of anyone's ship!! I am just talking about canon!!
I think Sayeon x Jaeil is cute and fun and that's literally all that matters when it comes to shipping!! I just wanted to write a little analysis on Sayeon and why she may have a crush on Jaeil because her situation is one that I personally can relate to.
The way she emotionally distances herself from everyone, the way she attached herself to one person and grew feelings for said person out of a necessity because her abused and trauma-driven brain didn't know that she deserved better and that she can have more... it's something that struck real close to home.
Maybe everyone already knew this before I made this post, maybe this is obvious........ but Hand Jumper is the only thing in my brain right now and I wanted to write </3

hello, i'm the anon who shared about my creepy coworker and old boss. i'm sorry for the word vomit earlier, all i wanted was to say how halsin makes me feel safe to say 'no' without fear of getting lashed out.
...but my mind went haywire, all the feelings and memories i held deep inside broke the proverbial dam securing it in place.
i appreciate everything you said, i truly do. i cried so much tears i never bothered to shed for the longest time, just letting everything go. it scared me, acknowledging the reality and all the emotions attached to that incident.
for once i am finally seen and heard, and i feel a little better... yet of course i know i wouldn't be able to truly move on unless i go to therapy.
unfortunately where i'm from, it's a little expensive to seek therapy for things like this, and there's a lot of stigma towards individuals seeking help/counseling and even talks of mental health itself.
i could never confide any of this horrors to my parents, my childhood home isn't a safe place. my own mother always had scathing words towards people who aren't mentally sound. she'd never understand me, and with how she speaks ill about others in unfortunate situations, i'm sure they'll blame me too just like how my old boss blamed me for the misfortune that happened to me.
perhaps someday i could step forward, go to therapy and unpack all this baggage to truly heal...
...for now i'll just enjoy the moment where i get to imagine Halsin being so kind and understanding towards me. a little solace and safe haven for my heart and mind.
again, thank you so much for being a safe space to share my little obsession with Halsin and for everything else. i look forward to reading more of your Halsin analysis, your headcannons and fanfics, it's always a joy seeing you around here.
[i word vomited again, i'm sorry.]
Hello again, anon! First of all, this is for you and for anyone else who might be reading: when I said my inbox and DMs were open for anyone who needed to talk, I meant it. (Yes, that goes for you, whoever is reading this and thinking I don't mean you. I mean you too.) I have gotten such an insane amount of kindness from this community- more than anything, I want to repay it. Both because it's the right thing to do, and because it's the Halsin thing to do. (Well, and for one other reason, but honestly that's another post, I don't want to derail your ask.) All that to say: you have nothing to apologize for, word vomit or not. I said my inbox was open, and you needed someone to talk to, and I'm so happy that you trusted me with this.
I'm sorry you had to have that moment alone. That moment of letting go is such a scary thing, and I'm so angry that everyone in your real life isn't being what you need. You deserve to have someone there to take care of you while this happening, and I'm so sorry you don't.
Therapy is important, but it isn't hopeless without therapy. There are ways around it. For example, here's a fun fact that I know because I'm studying to be an epidemiologist, and mental health epidemiology is a big interest of mine. Did you know that when you do statistical studies on who develops PTSD after trauma, one of the biggest protective factors- things that makes it less likely- is having a strong support system from friends and loved ones? Like, we can literally quantify this with numbers. Having friends and family around makes it less likely to develop PTSD. It is never too late to build that support system, and if you're in a place where mental health is stigmatized, well... that's the great thing about making online friends. It may not change what happened, or the environment you physically live in, but it can give you a place where you can be heard. And that can help you a lot more than you would think. If you can't get therapy, it's not hopeless; it just means you do the work of healing differently.
I'm sorry your family isn't safe to be with. But there are people out there, in this community and otherwise, who are. It's not hopeless. And just know that you deserve better than being blamed for this by people you love and trust.
I hope that one day you can have therapy and the healing you deserve, but until then, just know that Halsin is on your side and rooting for you, and so are those of us who also love this character. We all want you to heal- and we would all happily shank the bastard who hurt you given a chance.
I am glad I could be safe for you, and thank you so much for your kind words. They truly mean everything for me.
And you never, ever have to apologize for "word vomiting", friend. Let it all out. If my inbox is the only place you have that you feel safe to do it, then I am gonna take that seriously and I want to hear every word! I don't always have the right things to say, but I can always "listen", and who knows? Maybe someone else will read this and have something to say too.
I may not be able to change how shitty the world treated you, but the least I can do is give you one place where you can be treated with the dignity and kindness you deserve.

So what do you think about Yut Lung?
I like Yut-Lung a lot actually! I know I don't write about him much, just the occasional YueSing drabble or including him in AUs. But I think he's a great character, and a fantastic foil to Ash.
I don't really buy into the "Yut-Lung is Ash without Eiji" deal, but I do think that comparing Ash and Yue offers some interesting space for character analysis. They have similar backgrounds, but not the same, and what they chose to do with their experiences was different as well. I'm not blaming Yue for his actions here -- when it comes down to it, he's a sixteen-year-old kid in a bad situation, not far from the other protagonists. When I do write him into AUs, I usually include him as a protagonist, because I think that he would have been if he were given the opportunity.
That being said, he definitely made some mistakes. His plan to force Ash to return to Golzine in return for Eiji's safety was fucked, and he continued to target Eiji even after Ash was with Golzine. But Ash has made his mistakes, too -- I often say "Ash Lynx did nothing wrong" because I think the fandom is sometimes too harsh on him, but that's mainly because I truly believe that everything he did, even if it was "wrong," had its reasoning. And, honestly, the same applies to Yut-Lung. Everything he did, he thought was the right choice, even if it was out of jealousy or, really, a desire to have a peer in Ash who has a similar fate and suffers in the same ways that Yue himself does.
Yut-Lung is sixteen. And yes, that's only one year younger than Ash was at the start of the series, but honestly? When you're sixteen, you're not good or bad. You're just sixteen. There's a reason kids are rarely tried as adults in criminal trials in the States -- everything you do at that point in your life is a direct result of the circumstance you're in. Not to discredit the free will of teenagers, but at sixteen it's almost impossible to have unlearned what you've been taught (about the world and about yourself).
I respect that there are different opinions on Yue, and I have nothing against those with another view, but this is mine!
