Despite Sayeon's crush on Jaeil being quite obvious, to me it seems less that she ACTUALLY has a romantic crush on him and more that he is the only person who has ever shown kindness to her.
Sayeon's mother died when she was very, very young. And even then I think that Sara was very distant from her daughters (Judging by the way Samin talks about her)
Samin is a terrible, terrible sister (even Sayeon acknowledges this, saying "We're not going to pretend that you were a good sister [...]")
Sayeon's father, Mr. Lee, is... completely out of the picture. We don't know anything about him so I'm going to assume that, just like Sara, that he was distant from his daughters
And despite Sayeon's current bitterness towards her sister, there was a time where she truly, genuinely loved and relied on Samin. But ever since Samin's murder (or in Sayeon's own words, "punishment") the two have grown incredibly distant. Samin may still love Sayeon (she still wanted Sayeon to stay with her and seemed hurt the night before she left) but she does not show it.
The only person that Sayeon allowed herself to befriend was Jaeil Kim, and he was quite literally the only person that she knew. He was the only person that she ever opened her heart to, he was the only person who ever showed real kindness to her, and who seemed to genuinely care about her wellbeing. (From Jungwoo's words about Sayeon, I am also assuming that everyone else in their school was distant from Sayeon and sometimes even cold).
And, as a result, since Sayeon didn't know anyone else, since she didn't have any other options, her brain just latched on to the one person who was nice to her and said "This one. I'm gonna have a crush on this one because he is nice and those feelings are going to be your problem now. Good luck!"
And Sayeon is... struggling. Like. Visibly. I don't know how to explain this but it seems like she too also knows that her feelings really shouldn't be there, and really wants to see him as just a friend. But since he is the only person that she has... it's impossible for her not to blush or call out to him after meeting a god.
I'm just saying this as someone who was ALSO emotionally detached, was being abused at home and had literally NO FRIENDS aside from one (1) girl in school that was nice to me, and ended up having a crush on said girl because she was the only one that I had: Sayeon's feelings seem unrequited. Not only to Jaeil but to Sayeon herself.
Let's be real, Jaeil thrashes cars with a guy (seemingly???) goes out partying 'till god knows when, doesn't study, and even though he is nice, he's honestly a terrible option for a romantic partner. If Sayeon had other options, other friends, he would just be another one of them, not a crush. And Sayeon knows that.
And... he doesn't seem to like her romantically either. Idk, Sleepacross may very well publish a chapter on Jaeil's POV one day and he may have a thought bubble talking about how much he loves her and when that happens I'll eat my words, but as it stands? He treats her just like he does anyone else, like he would any friend.
...Which is what makes Jaeil's loss all the more heartbreaking. He is the only person Sayeon ever had, the only person she loved (be it platonically or romantically, it doesn't matter)
When Sayeon eventually finds out about his death--about his murder-- she is going to be devastated. His death is going to be her breaking point and quite frankly I don't think she'll ever recover from that.
And... this is the end of my little rant!!
I am NOT making this post to invalidate or speak ill of anyone's ship!! I am just talking about canon!!
I think Sayeon x Jaeil is cute and fun and that's literally all that matters when it comes to shipping!! I just wanted to write a little analysis on Sayeon and why she may have a crush on Jaeil because her situation is one that I personally can relate to.
The way she emotionally distances herself from everyone, the way she attached herself to one person and grew feelings for said person out of a necessity because her abused and trauma-driven brain didn't know that she deserved better and that she can have more... it's something that struck real close to home.
Maybe everyone already knew this before I made this post, maybe this is obvious........ but Hand Jumper is the only thing in my brain right now and I wanted to write </3

Thank you to all who participated! There were 404 participants in this survey.
Of the 404 participants, 87.9% have read Japanese literary works by BSD authors and only 12.1% had not. Please remember that this survey was only advertised on a Bungou Stray Dogs literary blog, so these results do not reflect the BSD Fandom as a whole.
Readers read these literary works in 20 different languages. 69% of readers read the works in English, 13% in Japanese, 5% in Spanish, 2% in German and French, and the remaining 9% were reading Japanese literature in the following languages: Chinese, Czech, Finnish, Georgian, Hungarian, Indonesian, Italian, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Serbian, Thai, Turkish, and Vietnamese.
Most people have read a novel, short story, and/or poem by the Japanese BSD authors, but not many have read the essays and plays.
Dazai Osamu is the author with the most readers. In 2nd place is Nakahara Chūya, 3rd place is Akutagawa Ryūnosuke, and 4th place is Edogawa Ranpo.
No Longer Human by Dazai Osamu is the top favorite literary work, followed by The Setting Sun by Dazai Osamu, “Hell Screen” by Akutagawa Ryūnosuke, and Kokoro by Natsume Sōseki.
The top three authors people want to read next are: Edogawa Ranpo, Nakajima Atsushi, and Dazai Osamu. Right behind them are Akutagawa Ryūnosuke, Yumeno Kyūsaku, Oda Sakunosuke, and Natsume Sōseki.
Take a look at the images above for more details.
If you want to read more Japanese literature or are interested in a specific author, you can check out my Online Library and the BSD Recommended Reading List. There you can find over 200 literary works by Japanese authors as well as articles and videos, all free and ready to download.
There was a comment section, so if you are interested in reading the responses I have included them under the cut:
Survey Comments:
(i know no one asked but i have no friends so-) currently reading crime and punishment and it actually feels like a punishment. but it’s so good—
<3
Although i have not read any japanese authors books, I have read the books for Edgar Allan Poe and Louisa May Alcott
As character Chuuya is my favourite, but I still haven't managed to read anything by the author! In Brazil there's a collection of Japanese short stories and most of the authors I've read are from there, though the book is a bit old. The others I looked up on the internet or bought ebooks, mostly in English. I've got to know Miyazawa Kenji before I started reading BSD due to a Japanese TV program that introduced Yoshinori-sensei and his reading of the poem! So he has a special place in my heart :)
Bless this survey
Bsd (but quite honestly, your blog in particular) really awakened my love for literature and critical analysis which has been laying dormant for a while. I used to be quite good at literary analysis when I was studying romanian literature in school back in my home country, and although the subject was, unsurprisingly, abhorred by most of my classmates, I quite liked it. I hope I can go back to that someday. Thank you for the effort you put in this literature blog.
cant wait to see the results to the survey!!! ive been curious about this too, so this is very exciting for me, especially since this anime got me back into reading
Choosing the favorite author and favorite work was too harsh (I love all of them, impossible), but I tried. Can you please tell any sources, where its possible to read any works in English? Reading in Japanese is nice, but takes too much time :( And, as always, thank you for your hard work!
Chuuya's poems ? I would die for them. I'm a big sucker for poetry and there's something, somehow, inside them, that just... leaves me spechless.
Creating a discord channel to disscus about literary heroes and their works.
For the question "What Japanese BSD author are you most interested in reading whose works you HAVE NOT read?" I also want to say that I'd love to read Ogurri Mushitarou's works. <3
Gambatte💕
Happy to participate in the survey! <3!
have a nice day! ^^
Hello! Your work is amazing. Thanks for bringing all those facts and interesting quotes on these authors. Your work is really appreciated :) Have a great day!
Hi!
Hope this helps! :)
I am a huge live for reading and am planning to one by one read all of the books from the bsd authors!!
Also, I have read most of the works from the western authors featuring in bsd (since they are more available) like Fyodor's Crime and Punishment, Agatha's And Then There Were None and many of Poe's short stories!! And I felt overwhelming happiness when I saw them in the series!! Thank you ^-^
I am planning to read more of their works.
I do feel quite bad and embarassed about not reading any of the author's works, but i will read their works some day
I don't know if it is a coincidence but after I started watching the anime the libraries of my city suddenly had books of Dazai, Chuuya and Tanizaki. What they were too expensive for me to purchase.
I don't suppose you have any recommendations on where to start reading these novels in English?
I don’t really know much about BSD but I’ve been a long-time reader of Japanese literature. It’s nice that there is more exposure & interest in these books. Thank you for your blog. I hope it would lead to an introduction to other Japanese works like the classics, poetry, performance arts like kabuki, modern literature, etc.
I have marked Dazai as my favorite, though I’m not really sure if that is true, it’s just I have only read The Setting Sun and No Longer Human, so I can’t say much of my thoughts on the other authors, though I do want to read works from more of the authors the BSD characters are based on.
I have read only one short story by Akutagawa, and so I understood why the writers of BSD weren’t favored by the people in their era, considering his short story talked about the time imperial Japan taken over Joseon (Korea) and yet he made the evil ones are the Japanese, he wasn’t afraid to address his country’s bad regime, and that’s an impressive thing to be very honest, hopefully I will increase my knowledge about the authors of BSD
I haven’t read any literature yet, but I do mean to someday (ideally in japanese, although I’m still learning the basics so it might be awhile yet)
I honestly wish I read a lot more by the japanese authors. Just from the quotes you guys post, I get a desire to go out and buy a book from one of them. I'll definitely get one by Yosano this month, and then probably other BSD authors. I wish they included Japanese authors as well in school literature, like, for an example : Fyodor and pretty much whole Guild are authors you HAVE to read in my country's schools.
I like how you asked about the language of the books! I'm looking forward to the results :)
I like that i have learned about japanese culture through this works and i would have not learned about many of them without BSD. BSD have also inspired me to read other autors, or finish books from them. I love "La Nariz" from Gogol and i think i would have not learned about that story if i hadn't known BSD.
I love Ranpo-kun!
I love reading all Japanese literature, because of the unique style and approach they have toward writing. The poetry especially is very different than traditional western style, and the short stories are often written about subjects that most westerners do not touch on. I love both, but find them enjoyable for different reasons. I just wish I could read more of their works, but it is difficult to attain them sometimes, especially the more rare authors!
Keep up the good work, you got me inspired to explore more authors that I might have never even heard of otherwise!
I LOVE RL RANPO SO MUCH. HE'S THE LIGHT OF MY LIFE. I THANK BSD EVERY DAY FOR INTRODUCING US.
I love your blog, and this is cool.
I love your post about facts of the authors because it's so satisfying know why in the anime characters have some attitudes, relationship or actions
I love your tumblr 😉
I managed to buy a book with a lot of Japanese short stories and most of them are in BSD, I haven't really read it yet. My brother actively studies Japanese and one of his materials is a collection of short stories from Akutagawa and Natsume in both English and Japanese. I hope to read it in Japanese one day. Your blog is great, thank you.
I truly enjoy your tumblr, thank you
I want to read Dazai Osamu's work but I don't where to read it, don't have money to buy the real book...
I want to read their works but finding time to read is a bit hard with my life. If you know any good free pdfs then pls tell me. Have a good day! 😊
I wish I knew Japanese because there will always be something lost within translation.
I would like to read all works, but I'm too lazy
I'd like to translate Dogra Magra into English but I'd need a proofreader as my English isn't that good...do you know anyone who'd be willing to help?
I'm currently a graduate student so most of my reading is dictated by my classes, but BSD has definitely created in me a curiosity to read Japanese literature!
I'm not a fervent bibliophile like yourself but I do really like your quote choices, it's what got me really interested in those authors I have not read.  I don't follow many tumblers but yours I particularly enjoy a lot,  and it's also great we both like the bsd anime /manga! Keep up the good work I always look forward to your posts.
I’ll just take this opportunity to thank you for all your hard work in the fandom. One of the things I love the most about bsd is seeing how the authors and their works influence their manga counterparts. I would’ve never known so much about them if it wasn’t for your blog. Thank you so much!!
I’m in the middle of reading No Longer Human
I’m most familiar with British and American authors, but I love that BSD showed me so many more Japanese and Russian authors that I didn’t know existed (that’s more because of my high school but we don’t need to talk about that)
Is it weird that I actually find Kajii's stories... delightful? So much so that I want more from his character! Anyways, thanks for sharing your love for literature!!
keep up the good work, your blog is awesome!
Keep up the good work! <3
Looking forward to the results. Thank you for your hard work!
Mishima Yukio
miyazawa kenji is my favourite jp author but in terms of BSD charas, chuuya has my favourite design.
Mori-san writes really well
Most of the BSD authors I read were the American  authors and it was interesting to compare and contrast eastern to western writing
My favorite author is Dazai, but Akutagawa also have some literary works that deserves to be readed.
Nakajima atsushi works bring me a lot of happiness somehow
Reading their literary works make me understand BSD's characters better. So try reading ones if you haven't read them yet. :)
Since starting to become a fan of BSD, I've also started up a collection of books by the IRL authors on my bookshelf; I've just not got around to reading some of them yet, and others on the list are hard to find or expensive when they are available (Atsushi's Light, Wind, and Rain and Ayatsuji's Another especially). I also like reading about the IRL authors and seeing quotes, so I've seen bits and pieces about more authors than I felt was right to say I've read an entire work from.
Stan best boy Chuuya 🥺
Thank you
Thank you for all the traductions and your hard work. It is hard to know or obtain information about japanese writers in my country, so I really appreciate all of your work and traductions.
Greetings from Mexico ୧(^ 〰 ^)୨
Thank you for all your hard work, thanks to you I've developed an interest to Japanese literature, and seeing your posts each day put a smile on my face, so thank you sempai, lots of love from a French fan ! ^-^
thank you for conducting this survey and for all of your work providing quotes, facts etc. about the authors on your tumblr as well!
Thank you for making this survey, I was actually interested ti see how many people actually read.
Thank you for making this survey!
thank you for providing us with easy to access works from these authors 💕
Thank you for your hard work !
Thank you for your work on bsd bibliophile. I wouldn't have discovered all of those books without your blog
Thank you very much for the work you do. I study japanese literature at my university, but I couldn't find many works you post about, because they aren't translated in italian, unfortunately.
Thanks for all the effort and time you put into your blog! I always enjoy seeing your posts on my dashboard.
Thanks for all your quotes and facts!! I love your tumblr page !!
Thanks for the survey! Have a pleasant day :)
The works of BSD authors I have read so far are varied. But rather than critique them, I actually enjoy reading them especially No Longer Human because I felt like I can related to Osamu Dazai to some degree.
This survey is really interesting! I wonder if the writers are as popular as the characters!
I want to have some free time quickly so I can read some more BSD authors! My favorite japanese authors though are Banana Yoshimoto and Haruki Murakami. I've read works of Kensaburo Oé, Yukio Mishima and a little bit of Yasunari Kawata too and I wish they could appear on BSD haha it would be really cool!
PD: I love OP blog, they are one of the most original and cool fandom blogs I've seen. I think Asagiri would love it :D
This survey was nice to do ^.^
Unfortunately, it is very difficult to find books from Asia in my country (translated or not). I would really like to be able to read more of them.
You may have missed Yokomizo Seishi? Not exactly a character that appears, but at least he’s part of the perfect murder arc. I’ve only read the Inugami Clan but loved it a lot!
I started exploring Japanese lit because of a metal band I like called 人間椅子, whose entire discography is an homage to Japanese horror/mystery lit, but especially Edogawa Ranpo’s works. To be honest, I’ve been avoiding reading in English because I wanted to read in the original and (until recently) hadn’t had the proficiency to do that comfortably. Finally catching up though! Plus, I’ve been more appreciative of quality translation work, so more willing to read these things in English too.
You're one of my most favourite blogs online ever and I'm so happy you're doing this! Please share the data with us once you're finished. Thank you for your efforts!
your blog is a blessing ✨ thank you so much for bringing fans closer to the bsd authors themselves through presenting their works.
your blog is hella rad thank you for running it :’)

not judging, i am genuinely curious, if you havent played tftbl, and havent finished bl2, how did you get into rhack? and let me say, for someone who hasnt played the games, your fics are really on point
I am flattered beyond measure, and also couldn’t keep this short because i love the topic, so i put it under a read more AHAH! ilu anon thank you xD
Tumblr media
Hands down, the fanartists are to blame xD AHAHAH I vaguely knew who Handsome Jack was from a pop-culture perspective (and I never before liked that iconic style borderlands is known for, so I just played Fallout and Parasite Eve and Left 4 Dead and shit like that instead). Around the time Tales came out, I started seeing fanart of Rhys on my dash (and i was like HELLO who’s this pretty boy??)  and then of course rhack art started crossing my dash, and I got curious about the art I was seeing, and learned little things bit by bit until I was swallowed whole AHAHAH! :)
From the art, I started perusing fic (i’ve always been an avid book-reader so no fore-knowledge necessary for engagement/enjoyment of material; books usually come with even less exposure to the material than fanfic ahaha) and i was learning little things here and there from the way fic-writers wrote the characters and what types of characterizations I personally enjoyed :) I have a photographic memory as well so it just became applying what I learned from my own exposure to the medium to write up fic :) No different from having to write a term paper or graduate dissertation or whatever. I’m very good at taking in information and disseminating only what’s needed. So like, seeing certain concepts/products/in-world terms/etc. crop up in enough fics tells me that is something possibly essentially to look into world-building-wise. From there, it’s a simple googling for the term/item/in-world thing to understand what it is and from context, how to write it :)
I always wondered how people who could write (extensive) fic for stuff they’ve never read/played/watched first-hand could do it, and so well too (there used to be this Harry Potter writer that like… damn they were redonk good having NEVER seen the movies/read the books). It’s simple intake of information and analysis compared with current fandom trends to do the thing xD that’s kind of it hahha. I’m probably downplaying it, and truly i could write like 10k on the subject myself hahah but we can cut it all down to the AWESOME rhack fan-creator community, and the sheer volume of fic I’ve taken in since 2015 xD
If you want to try to see behind the curtain so to speak as a demonstration of what I mean, go read my very-first rhack fic Bad Habits and consciously-compare it with any of my more recent work (anything from the bottom of the Jack/Rhys section in my fic archive or anything else post-2015; I add works chronologically on tumblr according to pairing; ao3 should have dates) and notice the lack of scenery-descriptions, location-details, or anything else that we might today consider to be ‘standard’ fic details now. My earlier stuff is definitely lacking in depth (also WAY shorter… most shit i write is like 8k now for one ‘chapter’) and you can see that, while not having those details, it does not detract from the story (so me playing the games to do the thing wasn’t actually necessary, especially with all the fanart– fanartists are VERY emotive in their work and that says a LOT about a character). :)
There’s only so much you can do with written-word vs. a visual media to have someone imagine something the way you want, and you have to be able to choose what is important that you want them to focus on. I majored in radio, tv, and film officially, and I’m sure part of the way I work is due to that area of study and expertise (even tho my degree is useless AHAHAH i wish i wouldve majored in linguistics xD). I know how to screen-write in both tv and film format (which are VERY different and require different skill sets), I understand how to tell a story/engage an audience through a visual-media that has to start out in text-format (have to visualize my product and correctly translate that to text for my instructions to be correctly carried out in the way i imagined by a third-party) and also comprehend who my audience for the piece is, and what they can understand from a comprehension level (not calling anyone dumb by any means, but i do have to dumb-down language at work sometimes because no one knows what an ‘epiphany’ is for example, but they all know ‘Aha!-moment’ agh haha) :D But there are a LOT of ways to write characters/stories without ever personally knowing the source material. Basically i take a fuckton of variables into consideration before crapping out a self-indulgent fic BAHAHA XD
OOOH ALSO! i listened to compilations of Jack’s lines on youtube to understand his speech patterns/attitude a bit better, and I saw a few clips here and there from Tales to kind of comprehend the same for Rhys. Voice actors are a goddamn treasure and make writing easier than if the only source material was a book and not a movie/videogame :D So yeah. thats kind of my ‘secret’ idk xD
Anyone who wants to extensively write, I’d suggest reading as many fucking books as you can get your hands on to expose yourself to as many writing styles/backgrounds/settings/storytelling-ability, and basically emulate it, or mush it all into something your own xD I used to judge books by their covers in highschool and just grab whatever, read it overnight, return it and get something else. I’m thirsty for information and knowledge. If i were a dragon, words would be my hoard AHAHAH XD ive had too much caffeine again today and am rambling but thanks anon! :D this shit fun, and it goes to show you DONT need the direct-thing to jump into having fun :D

"ive wrote an essay months ago about how sasoris puppets work but ive decided not to finish it does anyone want that" Ugh, I am so new to Tumblr, I was trying to figure out how to leave a comment just to say, yes, I would be interested in this.
alright here you go B) i havent touched it ever since so no promises
Tumblr media
Guess what - I finally start writing down all the trivia I know about Sasori, because it’s been some kind of strange fixation a while ago and I will regret never having written all of this down, so… this time it’s about Sasori’s specialty: the Hitogugutsu or the Human Puppets. But only from the “mechanical” side rather than the psychological (that comes later). Some warnings: This will be dealing with gore and other pretty gross stuff, so be careful, also English isn’t my first language so excuse any possible mistakes. Without further ado, let’s jump straight into the rabbit hole!
So first things first, what are the Hitogugutsu? If you’ve read or watched Naruto Shippuden and you paid attention to what Sasori is all about, you’ll immediately be confronted by his obscure obsession with puppets that stems from his childhood. As the story went on Sasori has made his first puppet out of a human being, his best friend Komushi to be exact, and then went on with indulging in this gorey procedure for the rest of his life, leaving him with a total of 298 human puppets in his possession. In this analysis we’re going to look at the what rather than the why, how they’re created, how they’re used in battle and what distinguishes them from normal puppets.
As you heard, Hitogugutsu are made from human bodies, preserved and equipped with a bunch of puppet mechanics. His most famous Hitogugutsu, the Third Kazekage puppet, which he has built out of his former village leader, is a great example for what his creations have to be like to adequately perform their jobs - Hitogugutsu are mainly used as a weapon in battle and are a form of “eternal art” in Sasori’s eyes. Means the human puppet has to be 1) effective in physical fights and 2) match Sasori’s ideal picture of what he considers art. These are the two most important points and will become significant throughout the analysis.
Let’s talk about the battle efficiency first. The key part of Hitogugutsu is that they can contain the chakra and the kekkai genkai the “material” (the person the puppet has been made out of) used to have, which can be used by Sasori in battle. Throughout Naruto Shippuden this attribute has only been showed once by the Third Kazekage and his magnetic iron sand ability. We are left to speculate about the other 297 Hitogugutsu and whether they have kept their chakra/kekkai genkai or not - but counting on Sasori’s words, they did. Other than that they’re barely able to distinguish from normal puppets, at least fighting-wise. Keeping that in the back of our heads, the construction of Hitogugutsu will give us the following problems:
1) Easiest first - a bunch of mechanics, weapons and special attacks have to fit in them to be useful in battle. Hence the general puppet structure, which is the best way for Sasori to manipulate them as he pleases.
2) They have to be well preserved to not decay and be robust enough to not immediately break in battle. Proper preservation and a stable foundation is the key here. Additionally, they have to be immune to Sasori’s poison.
3) An intelligent ten-year-old needs to be able to make at least a simplified version of them. Sasori was only a child when he made his first one out of his friend Komushi and it looked authentic.
4) The chakra needs to not just be stored inside the body, but to be able to flow, to be released through physical attacks and to be regenerated. This is essentially the biggest problem of human puppets, since they lack the (functional) organs needed to create chakra in their own, personal chakra nature.
5) Another important detail is his “ultimate” Performance of a Hundred Puppets where he controls all of them individually with a chakra string coming from his chest, which means the mechanics of a puppet must be adjusted in a way to be able for Sasori to do that.
Tumblr media
Sounds like a bunch of obstacles Sasori has to overcome, and we with him since that’s part of the analysis - but it’s possible, especially when calculating Naruto logic into it. Before the question comes up, I’m purposely not trying to be as exact to the canon as possible nor do I think all of this was Kishimoto’s masterplan, but i will try to find the most efficient way for Sasori to achieve all of this and stay reasonable at the same time.
*** Now heres the thing: As mentioned above, the main problem seems to be the whole chakra story and we have to question how chakra works and then how Sasori used it for his techniques. We are walking on eggshells here because nearly everything is speculation. Considering the Hitogugutsu kept their chakra inside of them and are able to release it (e.g. the Third Kazekage), they have to have some sort of modified chakra system inside of them. The problem is that this chakra is a consumable, means it’s not an infinite resource and since the bodies are dead there is no way for them to regenerate their chakra. However, Sasori is using it anyway and has pride in stating that he preserves people’s chakra in puppets eternally, so what’s going on here? Here’s the problem - the Naruto logic is completely broke here. I’ve spent days rummaging the Naruto Wiki but there’s no canon way for Sasori to do that, but we know he does it, so he somehow has found a way. If he made some kind of apperature or jutsu that can convert his own chakra to the human puppet’s nature, everything would make sense, but the canon has forsaken me here. However, there were some cases where that actually happened through some kekkai genkai or a ~fortunate coincidence~ so stuff like that is possible in the Naruto universe, for Sasori too, but sadly I can’t describe it here until now. For real, hit me up if you guys have an idea, otherwise I have no choice but to accept that as indescribable Naruto logic and get my own theories and speculation going. ***
Of course we won’t let that stop us - its just time to get our minds going and make some own theses. I’ve got two for you: One that prioritizes the battle efficiency and one Sasori’s view of art.
1) The Chakra conversion theory
The only “renewable chakra source” we have is Sasori himself. Means, if Sasori found a way to convert his own chakra to have the nature of the puppet’s chakra, it would pretty much be solved. This would require some sort of gadget or jutsu, but I won’t be understimating Sasori’s genius - **********
Assuming Sasori has built in a convertor of some sort into the puppet, it gets a little easier. To use chakra in the first place, Sasori has to store it inside of the puppet. Nothing as easy as that coming from a family that predominantly uses Fūinjutsu (or Sealing Techniques) - we’re gonna dig into the lore to make it possible that also a young Sasori could’ve used this technique with a certain effort.
May i present you: The Puppet Brigade of Sunagakure, with Chiyo as its head and a mighty forbidden jutsu in her hands - the One’s Own Life Reincarnation. You may have heard of that when Chiyo revived Gaara, but it was initially for a way different cause, and that is to give life to puppets. It works as following: The user takes their own life energy to revive a dead person, but dies by themselves in return. The brigade wanted to use it to “breathe life” into puppets for more efficiency in battle, but it was banned by Sunagakure for being unethical. You heard it - puppets, so it is possible to transfer life energy into a puppet to bring it to life, somehow. Fortunate for teen Sasori of course, who just began with his cruel passion of making Hitogugutsu. Let’s take a look at how the jutsu works:
Tumblr media
Simple. Here comes the interesting part - Sasori could’ve modified this jutsu to store the living person’s chakra inside of the puppet, and even had access to the technique by being involved in the puppet brigade himself. He just needed to rummage through the forbidden files in there. Once you think about it it seems pretty plausible, right? Now let me explain how a modified jutsu would work:
Tumblr media
The sealing technique stays the same, but with an extra step, which uses Sasori as its “medium”. He prepares the body as the shell and later seals the person’s chakra into it. The scroll is just a placeholder by the way, Sasori puts the energy in whatever aperture its later kept in and builds it into the puppet. It never got shown in the canon, but maybe it looks similar to his core. I believe the step of sealing the chakra away before preparing the body is important; otherwise the person would die and lose their chakra before Sasori is finished. So that’s how the chakra gets preserved inside of the puppet.
Next step, what happens to the chakra? Since Sasori was fond of collecting rare kekkai genkai users as his material, his puppets need to use their abilities in battle somehow. Not just that, here’s an extremely efficient option of navigating puppets and we can connect that to the Performance of a Hundred Puppets problem.
Tumblr media
Each of the Hitogugutsu has an internal chakra “skeleton” (similar to those that you use for Blender models + it’s probably more complicated), which Sasori is able to manipulate using his own chakra. If the convertor idea is correct, he has the ability to let his chakra flow into the puppet to start a circulation inside and trigger the conversion.
How’s that related to the Performance of a Hundred Puppets? When we see Sasori opening his chest lid, a hunded chakra strings pop out at once and every single of them gets connected to one of his puppets. The key part is that Sasori needs only one string to control a puppet with its full range of mobility. And an efficient way to achieve that is by giving them a chakra skeleton he can manipulate, which only needs one point of connection to get the flow going.
Tumblr media
Another thing that bugged me was the fact that he only used taijutsu when fighting with all of his puppets at once. If his puppets had their own chakra preserved infinitely and eternally inside of them somehow, he could’ve just bombarded Sakura and Chiyo with all of their jutsus at once but instead he focuses on hand-to-hand combat and weapons. The chakra conversion theory simply explains this with Sasori not having enough chakra to pour into his puppets, since he was at the very end of his battle.
This theory prioritizes the “eternal art” point, since the Hitogugutsu do stay eternally functional and usable. So tldr; the human puppets have an internal chakra skeleton that can be manipulated by Sasori letting his own chakra flow through a theoretical convertor (which might as well be the seal he revamped from Chiyo’s old reanimation jutsu), which turns it into the puppet’s chakra nature and can then be used in battle.
2) The disposable puppet theory
Now, personally, I’m not very fond of this theory since it pretty much dumps the whole “eternal art” point into the garbage, as much as the psychological aspect - but it’s way too legit and rational to ignore. The main idea is that the puppets Sasori used for his technique were “empty” Hitogugutsu with their chakra already consumed which had no choice but to fight without ninjutsu. Meaning once Sasori has preserved their chakra it cannot be regenerated and the puppet is left behind as an empty shell. The reason why I’m still going with this theory is because the Third has a special gadget in his chest that makes him special and that got me thinking - the magnetic apperatus he uses for his Iron Sand abilities.
Tumblr media
First of all some information about the Third Kazekage - he’s known for his kekkai genkai that is the Magnet Release, which he inherited through his bloodline. The Iron Sand technique is an adaptation of Shukaku’s (the One-Tails) abilities, which he created himself. When Sasori transformed him into a puppet he kept his abilities, but noticably weakened. Sasori has been using him as his “favorite weapon” ever since he was a young man and he has shown no sign of missing chakra. At the same time he has the (so far) unique apperatus that lets him use his magnetic abilities. So why isn’t the Third emptying out?
Now here’s the thing: The chakra we’re seeing in this picture isn’t the Thirds - its Sasori’s. The puppet has an unique appeatus that artificially creates the Thirds abilities, thus making them weaker than they originally were. Since the Third is both the only puppet we’ve seen keeping all of his abilities and the only one having the apperatus, he’s basically the only actual “eternal” puppet owned by Sasori. His inner chakra system just needs to get flowing by Sasori’s input and activates the magnetism, so it works similar to electricity.
Tumblr media
Carrying on, we can see Sasori having holders attached to his back, four in total with the first one already being used in the picture (to shoot fire out of his palms). The second one is for the Performance of a Hundred Puppets, the fourth one is for shooting water out of his hands and well… the third one? No one knows. If we follow the theory of empty and full puppets, the third scroll can be used for puppets that still contain their chakra, while the second holds the empty ones, of course. This could explain Sasori’s reckless fighting style, the empty Hitogugutsu are pretty much “waste” and serve no purpose other than overwhelming the enemy by numbers - not just in the battle against Sakura and Chiyo, but also in the attack of the Land of This. So theoretically Sasori still had an ace up his sleeve but didn’t decide to use it.
As I’ve mentioned above, this theory is logically reasonable but at the same time signs Sasori off as, well, pretty much a liar when it comes to his view of eternal art. After the chakra of one of his puppets is worn off, their special abilities become unusable and the effort of making Hitogugutsu in the first place seems over-the-top to me personally. While their bodies stay “eternal”, their abilities get lost by usage, and later recklessly destroyed by a Performance of a Hundred puppets attack. So tl;dr - chakra regeneration in human puppets is impossible, their abilities can be used once or twice before their chakra runs out, Sasori later only uses them for taijutsu and contradicts his own view of art.

*WARNING. The book I’m going to be talking about has never been translated, so all the quotes and excerpts below have been translated by me.
So, without further ado, proceed and enjoy!
Brief Introduction
Tumblr media
Ana María Matute (1925 - 2014) was a Spanish writer and member of the Real Academia Española, which, summing it up, is the insttution that regulates the Spanish language in Spain. It’s a great honor to be a member of the RAE, and she was the third woman in the history of this institution to be conceded a seat in it. She is considered one of the most personal and raw voices of the 20th century in Spanish literature, and one of the best posguerra (which is the period following the Spanish Civil War) novelists. She wrote novels, short stories, children tales and essays. She was considered in 1976 for the Nobel Literature Prize and won numerous literature prices, among which was the Premio Cervantes, the most prestigious literature prize in the Spanish language.
Matute was a professor at university, and she traveled to many cities to give lectures, especially to the US. In her speeches, she talks about emotional changes, the constant changes of the human being and how innocence is never cmpletely lost. She said that although her body was old, her heart was still young.
Here is a small article by The New York Times, published some days after her death in 2014, that contains some more info about her biography and career.
Style
Matute deals with many political, social and moral aspects of Spain during the post-war period. Her prose is lyrical and practical, and she incorporates techniques associated with modernism and surrealism. However, Matute is considered a realist writer. Many of her books deal with the period of life ranging from childhood to adolescence to adulthood.
Matute uses, as a primary resource, pessimism, which, in her novels, often manifests in the form of alienation, hypocrisy, demoralization and malice. About her work, it is said that although the arguments of each of her novels are independent, they are all united by the general theme of Civil War and the portrait of a society dominated by materialism and self-interest.
Also, during the 1940s in Spain, a new literary aesthetic, which came to be known with the name of tremendismo, was born. The main aesthetic features of tremendismo revolve around the experiences of authors during the Civil War, and the misery and insecurity that were characteristic of post-war Spain. Tremendismo is heavily based on pessimistic, determinist and fatalist philosophies; it shows the darkest aspects of life, such as failure and death, and relates them to existentialism. Protagonists of novels belonging to tremendismo are usually marginal beings from the lowest layers of society, with primitive minds and without spiritual values or sensitivity. They often commit errors that lead them to tragic consequences, but they can’t be blamed because it is society that leads them to act that certain way. In this way, the worst part of human beings, highlited by an unfair society, is shown.
Los Abel
“I have arrived and nobody waits for me, because I have not warned anyone and I do not know anyone. It is difficult to define contours. The town, sunk in the bottom of the valley, is a ghost of violet lividness: like an unfortunate overcrowding of half-ruined hovels.”
Tumblr media
Los Abel (1948) was Ana María Matute's first published novel and is, to this day, basically unknown. “Why are you going to talk about a novel that is not even considered her most relevant work?” you may ask. Well, simply because I love it, and it was a major inspiration for both my first poemary and my current WIP, Sunflowers at Night. The publication of this work was considered a literary revelation, a fact that would be confirmed in the successive works presented by its author.
Ana María Matute wrote Los Abel, a work that obtained a brilliant classification in the 1945 Premio Nadal, at the young age of 21. Inspired by the biblical story of Adam and Eve, a reflection of the enviroment after civil strife, it’s the dark story of a family living sad and tormented lives, very few of which escape the climate of anguish and exhaustion. Matute manages to create a tense, passionate and even feral atmosphere.
Plot *(WARNING. Spoilers ahead.)
The story is told in the first person by two different characters. The narrator in chapters I-IV is a young man who returns to a town he visited with his mother when he was a child. In these chapters he remembers his first encounter with the Abel family and then describes the town and the people who live there during his visit. The man rents the old house of the aforementioned family and there he finds the diary of Valba Abel, one of the sisters who lived there. So, the second narrator is Valba, or more precisely, chapters V-XXIX represent her personal diary in which she tells the sad story of her family.
This story takes place in a post-war rural landscape, where the family, formed by the father and his seven children: Oswaldo, Augusto, Tito, Valbanera, Juan Nepomuceno, Octavio and Ovidia — who prefer to be called by the nicknames  Aldo, Gus, Tito, Valba, Juan, Tavi and the youngest simply, the Small One — all with very different personalities. Their mother has died and the father tries to maintain the unity of the family, using their land and house for that. However, life in a poor monotonous rural area  is not enough for young people who show different abilities and have their own interests. Only the older brother, Aldo, is interested in cultivating the land and continuing with the traditional life of their parents: the other siblings want to escape from the village and live in the city.
After some gray and depressive winters, the children leave, one after the other, the orchard of their father, and move to the city. There they try to start new and different lifes, but their destiny takes them back to the village, where two of the brothers, Aldo and Tito, different as day and night, have such serious problems with each other that the first kills the second.
The protagonist
Valba is the representation of the rare girl, a very common protagonist in female post-war novels, who has a lonely character, looks unfeminine to other women and who is looking for her own identity. But in addition to the features that are typical to the rare girl trope, Matute adds to Valba a kind of darkness and depth. The town doctor describes her with the following words: "What deep eyes: a whole world enclosed within. To tell you the truth, I have never seen a look like that. Only sometimes do beggars in ditches have that look, or the hungry. And she looked like a child, with her indecisive hands. She had wolf teeth, hurtful as little daggers.”
After the death of her mother, Valba has to leave her studies in the city and return home, where she has difficulty finding her place among her brothers. She often feels redundant, without a way out and guilty that she lets her life go by without really living it, repeating phrases like: "I felt ridiculous, useless, small" and "I'm tired of not living." Even though she doesn’t like her sitaution, she doesn’t really try to make it better, thus acquiring a typical property of the protagonists in tremendismo.
The few moments of joy in Valba's diary are related to love or with the hope that she would find love. The romantic story with Galo, an artist in the city, offers hope for a happy ending but becomes a failure that destroys Valba's soul and eliminates her optimism for a better future- She feels indifference towards life: "How many hours still extending before me! It is possible that I will still live for many years; what a great tedium youth is, how a great tedium, a whole life still to be traveled, to drag behind me! "  Valba also loses the ability to see love as something pure and beautiful: "I was like the top of a mountain. If I ever loved again, my feeling would drag a chorus of ridicule and parodies."
The violent and extreme situations are typical of tremendismo. In the case of Los Abel it’s not so much about violence as it is about death and intense moments forming a continuous chain during the story. Valba's narrative begins with the death of her mother who leaves her husband and seven children behind, some of them very young, who have to grow up under the harsh guidance of their father. To this event follows the death of the village’s teacher and although no one really cries for him, it is an adversity for the people. Later, Juan gets sick and ends up crippled. Then, when the littlest sister is preparing for her First Communion, the church is burned. A flood follows the fire: the river rises on its banks and threatens to take the house of the Abel with him. But the house, the strongest link in the family, continues in its place, at the foot of the mountains. In these mountains, Valba's father loses his life later on, and this event marks the beginning of the last chapter of the Abel family. Afterwards, there is no unifying force and the brothers who have remained in the village leave their home one after the other.
Matute completes the book with a violent ending. As we mentioned, Aldo, the eldest brother kills Tito, the luckiest brother of the seven. This crime is caused by years of envy and anger that have been growing inside Aldo. When he gets home and sees that Tito, whom his wife loves, is doing successful restructuring in the land of their parents, he can’t tolerate the injustice and shoots him. With this event, Matute uses for the first time the symbol of the Cainism, the known crime of the Bible, very frequent in her later works.
And so, the novel ends with this sublime piece of writing I felt the necessity to share with you guys:
“The two thunderous shots resounded, much more than the whole storm of our flood. The walls trembled and a thousand cries creaked on the stairs. The two bullets sank into that golden flesh, into that chest that always breathed rhythmically. But what revenge was that? What revenge ...? My God, Tito was youth! And I fell to my knees, and with that blood of his that was already sliding between the joints of the mosaics, I wet my face, as if it were a caress.
This is what I read."
And...
Tumblr media
I really hope you enjoy reading this as much as I enjoyed writing it! If you guys have any questions, please ask me!!!
Leave me your comments and opinions too!

Interview With Composer Eric Britt
@ericbrittmusic @the-versatile-composer
What got you started in composition?
I used to be obsessed with soundtracks, so obsessed that I wanted to get into the field. I tried my hand at it little by little in high school. My production rate improved in the first half of college, and by the second half I was writing constantly.
What encourages you to keep at it?
I trust in myself. I don’t let any defeating thoughts get in my way or discourage me. Even when I had only just started, I was always proud of the work I was doing. Why? Because I was comparing myself to my own progress. It’s extremely important you measure your improvement that way rather than comparing yourself to industry leaders.
What about the art is most appealing to you?
Music, film scores especially are a form of nonverbal communication. Whether it be on screen or in a concert hall, the music almost always conveys a message that could only be told by music. For me personally, it’s one of the most effective ways I communicate the purpose of a piece or my thoughts.
What kind of classes have you taken?
Music Theory I-IV, Post-tonal analysis, orchestration, conducting, music history I-II. Aside from the obvious essentials for composition, music history is an important part of learning how to compose. By immersing yourself in different eras, it betters your ability to write. May it be form, melodic structure, or trying to emanate a certain time period, its importance is underestimated.
Did you take any music theory courses or music lessons before college?
I took two years of music theory in high school, as well as piano lessons for most of my life. Having never played in an ensemble before college, I faced some difficulty in understanding effective form and structure of traditional classical music. I learn as I went when I got to college.
What was your major, and what was your experience in relation to music and composition in college?
I was music composition/music business. My experience in composition in college was largely dedicated to writing for live performances. College is a ripe environment to have people play your original compositions, mostly in part because they will likely do it for free. Influence also plays an important role. You want people on your side.
Are you working on any projects now?
I am currently writing the music for the video game Underspace, set to be commercially released on Steam later this year. Aside from that, I write music for orchestra, typically with a cinematic approach which I release digitally.
How do you advertise yourself?
I believe the right amount of humility is important in advertising. I used to advertise in a fairly arrogant manner, and it got me nowhere. What I learned from it is that you can be proud of your work without thinking it’s the greatest thing ever. Advertise it accordingly. There is however a point where you can be TOO humble. If you fail to market yourself effectively to potential clients for the sake of humility, you’re shooting yourself in the foot and are not likely to be hired. You can talk about your successes, what you’ve done, commissions etc but do so humbly.
Do you freelance?
Yes. Once I graduated college I became able to dedicate much more time to it. Whether it be orchestrating a suite for concert hall or writing video game music, a contract is always a must. Well, that is in the case that you’re making several hundreds/several thousands off of the gig.
What is the hiring process like?
You have to be social. That’s EVERYTHING. I used to wait for someone to pick up my music and hire me. Didn’t work. It wasn’t until I started reaching out to people whom I thought might want music that I started making success. There are communities online where you can find a pool of potential clients. Indie game developers on YouTube/Tumblr is how I got started. The thing is, YOU have to reach out to them.
What kind of people do you work with?
Game developers. I am just starting my career as a professional composer, having graduated three months ago. I’ve had better luck with game devs than finding people who want music written for concert hall. I know that there might be demand for schools, but I haven’t looked into it yet.
Do you have a day job, or any career plans outside of music?
I plan to find a career in arts administration. I’ve worked in the administrations of a symphony and summer festival, which cemented my passion for the industry. Most composers have day jobs unless they’ve made it financially off their music.
What does the average day look like to you outside of music?
I enjoy reading. Particularly The Economist and New York Times. I also enjoy spending time with family and friends. For the time being I’m working in retail until I find something full time in arts admin, and that’ll occupy part of my day as well.
What challenges you the most?
Territory that is entirely unfamiliar to me. In the classical realm, that would be atonal music. It’s not easy to sound that dissonant. Not for me, at least. I can’t say I’d be willing to make commission if it had to be atonal.
What do you find the most rewarding?
I love hearing my creations come to life. The fact that I’m doing substantial with my time, and finally starting a path in it (profitably, might I add)
Which piece are you most proud of?
Legion. It centers around a rhythmic motif, and is incredibly action packed.
Do you have plans for the future?
My plans stand in pursuing careers in both arts administration and composition.
Do you have any advice for other young people interested in this field?
Everyone will tell you not to do it and get a real job. The truth of the situation is that if it’s monetary stability you’re after, they’re right. BUT that does not mean you have to stop composing. Having a consistent job will allow you to invest in composition. May it be software or sound libraries, it’ll start the essential steps for success as a composer. Having a job that paid well was essentially how I got started professionally, because I could afford the tools necessary to be hired as a composer for media.

Tumblr media
hello darkness my old friend i’ve come back on tumblr once again (after like one month of not uploading anything or reblogging or answering messages for that matter because im a shit person who is actually very busy)
once upon a time this was called the your fave crack edits maker watched the thing earlier review but let’s be honest im not editing a flying fuck lately so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯  (here are part 1, part 2 AND part 3 tho)
warnings: i talk like a sailor, i haven’t been in touch with the fandom or with the whole franchise for like months and if you’re not that interested in the actual plot of the thing and you’re just watching out of love for the characters, there’s a 99% chance i’m even more disinterested than you (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*:·゚✧
basically if you’re looking for in-depth analysis and metas yo this ain’t the post for you my friend
good luck reading lmao
it’s a truth universally acknowledged that if a tri movie is coming out, tumblr user dianaagron (clara for friends) won’t know about it until the day after, when she’ll wake up and check twitter after 84 years of not logging in and realize that yesterday was the day. actually, this time i remembered the episodes were out the same day they were released, but still it was because of good ol’ twitter, because with all the mess that’s going on with me (part of the reason why i’m never here) even if i happened to check at the beginning of the week when soushitsu was coming out, i still managed to completely forget about it in the span of a fucking day. also, i’m fucking pissed because i’ve always watched the thing after downloading the various episodes because that way i have all my stuff and i can go back and easily find caps and other stuff like that but nope not this time because i can’t fucking find a single torrent and i’m refusing to download subbed episodes because a) it’s gonna take so long to direct download something and b) what use are subbed episodes when i know i’d be replacing them with unsubbed ones as soon as i can find working dls (this is a cry of help: tell me where i can download the episodes, im dying, thank you)
one thing to take into account: i was extra pissed for various reasons yesterday night when i watched the first two episodes, so i’m not really sure if that’s why, compared to the shit that i had to deal with in real life, the episodes (in the contrary to all expectations) weren’t bad at all. truth is i actually liked this installment? INCREDIBLE, I KNOW. of course it had its nonsense moments and parts that made me roll my eyes (im buying pizza for everyone who can guess which were those moments) and other negative parts, but i really preferred movie 4 to movie 3. i’m guessing this is an unpopular opinion because i remember everyone was so happy with kokuhaku back in the day and i was the only soul going like lmao i didnt even cry but idk, i liked this one, it wasn’t bad. btw, i said i’m guessing mine could be an unpopular opinion because i’m writing this sorry excuse of a review before reading anything else cause i don’t want to be influenced :)))))
(save me ive written 500 words on nothing) (meanwhile i finally found torrent links) (and i had to pause the review because i ended up going out yesterday night so this is me talking one day later from what you’ve read before)
once again, i feel like nothing happened in the course of these four new episodes. now, i know i’m extremely slow when it comes to get plot points and all that (not because i’m that stupid, thank you very much, but because of my attention span varies from 1 second to 2 and a half so it’s hard for me to recall what happened in the previous installments unless i go and rewatch all of them - thing i won’t ever do because this girl right here is lazy as fuuuck) but if you sit down and think about what was revealed, you get close to nothing lmao.
winning points of the movie (for me):
not too many extreme closeups like in the previous installment. it flowed better, the animation quality wasn’t as terrible as it was in the previous four episodes (im saying this just by quickly looking at the caps i took - while in the other i had so many ugly caps here they all look presentable and usable) (i say this from the point of you of someone who makes edits of course, i dont have the knowledge of an animator lmao), the majority of the shots with mimi, which are the ones that i pay the most attention to, are super pretty, but also those with taichi’s!!! his design was super on point, i have many caps im probably gonna insert later of just him looking hella attractive, and sora!!! omg sora was so fucking beautiful in these episodes i was so :)))) yay for nice designs, they make me happy.
the lack of you know who for basically two episodes. it was so good, so nice, so calming. i was loving life and life was loving me.
HOW THEY HANDLED THE TAIORATO!!!! if you know me or if you’ve been following me for a while you’ll know this already, but i’m saying this in case i have new readers (HI) or, y’know, to swipe some dust off: i’m not the biggest fan of the main three. that comes from the fact that michi is my otp and i love taishiro probably too much for my own sanity, so i tend to be on the taichi/koushiro/mimi & yamato/sora/jyou side of things (which is like, super unpopular because if it’s not taiorato then it’s yamichi, so you get why my life is a constant struggle). anyway, thing is that i actually loved the interactions between the three? it was light and it felt super real, it could easily be relatable. it was also clear to me that taichi’s and yamato’s roles in sora’s life were blatantly different and i also loved to see how the two of them while being in the same situation reacted differently, but i’m gonna touch this topic later. overall tho, good job on the dynamic between those three. im clapping my hands, i wasn’t excited about it when the movie poster came out five months ago but i’m so happy that they made me love the parts with taichi, yamato and sora.
it wasn’t heavy on fight scenes. i know. I KNOW. but as i’ve said, i’m not the average digimon fan so i’m happy with my bonds developing and less fights and all that stuff :))))
meiko exceeding all expectations and NOT CRYING for all four episodes. such sorcery.
on the other hand tho
y’all, who the fuck is that ygdradude? am i supposed to know? did i miss a focal point? am i that disinterested in the plot to miss a fucking focal point????
also what the fuck was that part with i dont know his name, the teacher, with the white space shit and the talk about libra. what is libra, who is libra, what the hell, what the fuck
pedo gennai dear lord i felt so fucking uncomfortable
remember when i said meiko didn’t cry? she didn’t cry because they replaced her with her partner and made meicoomon whine for 3/4 of the movie instead
the opening scene ????????????????  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ artistic choice ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
the fact that they basically wasted half an episode (the last one) on three evolutions. they really need to cut down the timing of those, for real
i can’t think of anything else rn
they could’ve kept meiko away for other three episodes if it was me ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
then again they could’ve just kept meiko away from tri in general if it was me
warning: i have 98 screenshots ready to use, i’m gonna try to cut some stuff because that’s too many, but here we go
Tumblr media
they were pulling some hikari shit right here (as well as some charlie chaplin sorcery for the whole sequence)
Tumblr media
that’s what i’m saying
Tumblr media
OKAY LISTEN, that fucking egg with the circular thing under it made me highkey hope for some sort of magic shit happening and bringing the 02 kids back because it looks like a digimental egg or however those things were called. like my hope was so highkey that i fucking ended up dreaming the night between me watching the first two episodes and the latter two that miyako was back. unfair. i hated it. i want my kids back.
Tumblr media
taichi being handsome: exhibit A
Tumblr media
mimi being beautiful: exhibit A
Tumblr media
sora being incredibly pretty yet sad: exhibit A (i told you guys the design was extra better compared to the last movie)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
random caps taken merely for the fact that taichi and mimi were next to each other looking aesthetically pleasing to the eye  (also do you ever cry about the skin tone difference between these two because i tend to do that a lot)
Tumblr media
i can’t stand them hahahahah
Tumblr media
( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) frankly they could’ve shown yamato in the next scene so that way the foreshadowing would’ve been blunt and people wouldn’t still be bitching. or maybe they would anyway lmao. also look at the girls being all pretty together im so :))))
Tumblr media Tumblr media
just pretty mimi and taichi + koushiro talking i was :)))) i love them all i love my kids, especially kou when he goes on about his tea
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and i also FINALLY appreciated a koumi scene!!!! it happened!!!!! honestly, as i’ve said, i’m not entirely sure if it was because i was facing so much rl shit right before i watched the thing or what, but this time i was just enjoying what tri had to offer me without caring too much about other stuff like “ugh they’re pushing the fanservice with ship baits” and such. this was just plain cute, mimi was terribly in character, koushiro as well, and it was just the kind of interaction that i love. i love my kids pt. 2974521248 like, of course i would’ve loved for mimi to feed one to taichi, but i’m still somehow sane and i know they’ll never show something like that in canon? but still, it’s nice cause i know how differently from koushiro taichi would’ve reacted in a setting like this and i just can use it in my fanon world. goodbye.
Tumblr media
this is why i’m team taichi, yamato
Tumblr media
taichi being handsome: exhibit B
Tumblr media
JUST IMAGINE HIM LOOKING AT MIMI LIKE THAT BEFORE THEY KISS IM SO ??????????? im gonna make a manip just wait for it
Tumblr media
AH YES The Interaction™ also known as one of my fave parts of the movie lmao but it’s so nice whenever mimi talks it’s taichi the first one to answer im happy goodbye
Tumblr media
cutie patootie be looking at his cute patoote
Tumblr media
legit thought palmon was going to transform into sailor palmoon or something
Tumblr media
why so ugly good lord
Tumblr media
AAAHHHHHH!!!!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHH THIS!!!! THIS THING RIGHT HERE!!!!  let me put it into context in case you don’t remember: this was taichi asking his LEGIT CANON BEST FRIEND IZUMI KOUSHIRO TO NOT PUSH HIMSELF TOO MUCH AND REST. can anything be as beautiful as this? this made my heart defrost, im alive, y’all need to reevaluate your “taichi and yamato are bffs” business because. of. this. right. here. (im slamming my fist on the table, in case you were wondering)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
hikari being smug af with takeru tho, that gave me life as well. also jyourato sitting next to each other <33333
Tumblr media
AND THE SISTER IN LAWS <3333333 under a blanket that it’s so mimi’s
Tumblr media
penis shot
Tumblr media
taichi you fool...
a word on the so called triangle that of a triangle it has nothing but whatever: it was clear to me that yamato and taichi hold two very different spots in sora’s life, while both being important to her. there are multiple times when we see yamato trying to make taichi break the ice and talk to sora, and that’s because he is her best friend, so he should be the one who is supposed to know how to make her feel better at all times. another thing i noticed was how it was yamato to be the most sensitive to sora (unsurprisingly so): you see it especially when taichi is busy with agumon and he’s still monitoring sora, worried

and of course this whole exchange was beautiful, and i don’t have much else to add. truly iconic.

Tumblr media

Tumblr media
actually, as studies say, mimi is, in fact, a libra
Tumblr media

Tumblr media
the fluff tho
Tumblr media Tumblr media
the contrast between hikari being the calm one and having accepted the situation vs taichi still being unsure and lost was nicely done by making her facing the light and him staying in the shadows, good job with the cinematography im clapping my hands
Tumblr media
F U C K I N G  W H Y  no, but seriously, i was already uncomfortable before with him being on top of her but this just just like yikes to a whole new level like i just don’t get it???? was it necessary???? just ew
Tumblr media

Tumblr media
THE REAL HIGHLIGHT OF THE MOVIE. GALS BEING PALS. (for real tho, i felt so blessed? it’s in moments like these that i just feel all the love for this anime, im so :)))))) )
Tumblr media
and jyou comforting sora as welllllll~~~~
and that’s it with the pics you guys!!! a couple of further points
if they didn’t waste half an episode on three evolutions, they could’ve just gone further with the plot, but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
im not saying meiko grew on me, because i still want her out, but i can deal with her if he doesn’t cry as much as he did in the first three installments
what’s up with that ygdradude and libra talk is my question
they still need to address the 02 kids mystery and i need my babies back
the triangle is not, in fact, a triangle
i love my kids
and the episodes weren’t bad, come on. they went a little further with the plot by showing that the chick whose name i don’t remember had a partner that died and so that was the reason for the reboot, so they did give some answers, and at least the pacing of this movie was faster than in the previous one.
also, as i’ve said, idk what’s the popular opinion but i loved sora’s arc, it was nicely done and i don’t have anything to bitch about (except for meiko’s unnecessary presence). i felt for her and i wanted to wrap a blanket around her and just give her all the love.
and that’s it i think?
im blocking out the memories of the scenes with gennai because im feeling super uncomfortable whenever i do
we’re talking first kiss between wang so and hae soo in scarlet heart levels of uncomfortable
the ending sequence was so cute <3333 especially sora and piyomon, they were my faves closely followed by taichi and agumon
and im done
thank you for reading
i’ll probably go back to my hibernation now
ily all
if you got to this point i’m truly buying you a pizza
and let’s not forget the winning screencap, you can use it every day at every hour, every moment in your life

"kiho is... fascinating rly" what do u mean 👀
their relationship dynamic is v fascinating and fanfic fuel.. lov the way kihyun... needs to win... and wonho kind of lets him........ but also they’re v tender idk LOV this photoset... ykh is always 100% serious when he attacks ??? but then he’s a very... aftercare guy.... bye
more asks under the cut (dated newest to oldest)
u kno that thing kihyun does when he has the camera where he like...tilts his head back a lil and shakes it a bit. it cute
hate 2 admit this but he rly is.... v c*te... v sexy 2 when he’s BEHIND the camera and he squints and grits one side of his teeth... ok ok ok ok alright alright alr
i dont rlly think hoseok is bi i think hes pan like if hes in love he doesnt rlly care what gender they are
mmm i use the two v interchangeably bc currently i don’t think there is a clear distinction between them? what u said is the traditional dictionary difference but a lot of bisexual people identify with that too and a lot of pansexual people don’t? like from what i’ve been observing, the bi = binary genders/more than one gender, pan = all genders thing doesn’t rly seem to help that much in establishing the difference btwn them? for example........ i usually say im bi irl and pan on tumblr just bc of the difference between levels of lgbtq understanding under varied contexts... but that obviously doesn’t apply to everyone... so yeah frankly i’m still confused abt the difference between them and i guess... just letting ppl fall into whatever they think is right for them is the only way to go? but like tell me if i’m getting smth wrong here lol. also i saved the url pansexualwonho shfjdkgj
hello bunny do u have a wishlist
no and get off my blog stinky
leave ur gf for me
what does it mean when ur gf has a bf and ur also kind of seeing kakashi hatake?? :/ are we all dating by association??
wonho looks like jooheon and IM sugar daddy in that picture or something....
jshgjfk i think this was abt the units teaser photo right? (x) tbh i feel like jooheon looks more sugar daddy here but wonho has a lot of potential... he’d definitely Spoil the person(s) he’s dating :/
I just checked and the members of that new variety show minhyuk will be in are all giants, they are all above 180cm, well besides actually minhyuk lolz it's kinda funny, but I guess he won't need to make himself seem smaller since he's the tiny one this time
my breath hitched when i read this ??? aaa ur right... tbh i don’t know how im going to... survive this show bc it’s... so blindingly... visual?? have high hopes for it i know he’s going to do so well... and ummmmmMM imagine him... making himself XXXXXXXXXXXXXS precisely bc he knows it’s going to b cute n like... tucking himself against eunwoo or smth i might die
YOUR TAGS MAKE ME SO HAPPY!!
THANK U?????? 💖💖💖💖💖 cute anons make me happi :’0

@marxistkihyun
[nsfw text warning] i was reading this wonhyuk fic and thought of u immediately archiveofourown org/works/10314092 mostlytop!mh slight daddy kink mh takes extra care of wh :') enjoy
UH ANON................ HOW DID U KNOW....... EXACTLY WHAT I LIKE...... AND THIS LINE... THIS LINE... “He likes Hoseok, but he likes when pretty girls tie him up and sit on his face too”,,,,,,,, rly the best lmh characterisation i’ve ever read sdjkfgh gbye this was rly sweet and well-written and realistic and i think??? i lov u?? and i lov my poly + bi boyfriends :(((( thank u sm for the rec i rly enjoyed it
i'm east asian too and non-asian ppl keep telling me that "rat" and "snake" are racial slurs and i've never heard of such a thing until i joined kpop fandom (rly recently). if you want my honest opinion it's another one of those things where like... overzealous SJWs nitpick terminology and project on POC even tho they have never experienced it themselves... idk. i rly have never heard any of those terms used against asians before as racial slurs...i've seen other asian fans also question this
(regarding this ask) yeah lmao i mean............ the more i think abt it the more i feel like it was ??? just such a strange thing to have been told... and the way it was said as well... like “this is a racial slur so don’t say it” feels condescending ?? like, me, an east asian person, being “educated” abt racism against east asian people by an anon on the internet for a post that had zero connection to race and terms taken way out of context (that generally aren’t racially charged anyway).... ok lol
Wonho decided to change the title from ^give it to you^ to ^524^ I wonder if it's because of their debut date or something similar?
yes~ 5.14 is their debut date! it was also the time on the clock in the teaser :3c but it still doesn’t rly explain why he changed it? strange bc i thought the song would b emo bc of the changed title but it was kinda.. boppy?? sounds more like a “give it 2 u” than a “last page” hmm but gotta hear the whole thing first ig
I have the impression that Wonho is a sensitive person, he can get hurt easily (but won't hold grudges) and carry his emotions for a really long time. I think he tends to delve in his emotions and thoughts constantly and is thoughtful of when/how he should share them to not burden others. He's ALL IN for his members, trying to cheer them up and tying them all together [rmbr when he made JooHyuk hug to avoid misunderstandings or when he gave Jooheon the biggest sweet potato] in a subtle way.
yessssssssssssssss yes i don’t have anything to add here yes yes yes he’s just... the best guy :(
The Monsta X/GOT7 Psychologist ISN'T A psychoanalist. AFAIK Psychoanalysis avoid archetypes, because the patient can use it as a excuse. Also, to psychoanalysis there isn't a cure, there's only a savoir-faire which means you won't change your past, but you can change how you feel about it, sometimes being able to extract lessons from those painful memories. Psychoanalysis works with words, the way we phrase things is how we conceive reality. So don't underrate your literal analysis+observations.
aaa thank u sm.......... i rly learnt a lot from u thank u v insightful.... pop psychology is fun but ig we have to be careful to not... confound it with the Real Thing and hold mx to it?? anyway thank u sm for taking the time to type out all ur asks they were v helpful!
wonho has honestly tried to kill minhyuk an incredible amount of times but in the end always remembers he can't commit murder in front of a camera...........................
idk wonho choking minhyuk was rly the hottest thing ive ever seen jsfhg bye God I Wish That Were Me
in that live where u said minhyuk tapped wonhos bicep with his little alien claw was honestly was so c*te... especially the contrast btwn mh featherless chicken feet fingers and wonho thiccness..... wonhyuk are rly so comfortable and natural with each other like u can't rly see it but it looks like wonho let go of the camera with the arm that was being tapped to hold minhyuks hand/wrist..................................................c*te
uh put thi s on my grave...... i love wonhyuk sm i could die :( they rly lov each other sm jkdgfhsdjkgfhhkkdg
Hellooo!
henlo rabbit
maybe im just naïve but starship ent. is overall an alright company - with all groups they promote they seem to be fair and equal and overall supportive :/ which makes me rlly thankful my children aren't being neglected;;
ahh yeah i think on the whole they’re not bad with mx... apart from when they didn’t send members to the hospital after they were in a literal car crash??? and idk just not great promo times and minor organisational things.. bc they have a certain amount of faith in mx the investment isn’t too shabby. but with like... other groups... like boyfriend...... idk ?? they were just shipped off to japan and never heard from again? and even sistar i mean, the conditions they worked in at the beginning was appalling :/
