hi I feel like I've been attempting to interact with your stuff way too much and I'm probably annoying you but I wanted you to see some of my own sketches of your Hadestown au bc it had a chokehold on me yesterday and it wouldn't leave me alone. I decided Elias would be Hermes for several reasons

(You don't have to read this bit if you don't want to lol)

Tim doesn't have anything close to a guide/mentor figure in tma and Elias is probably the only person who a) has a connection to him and b) actively utilises Tim's decisions for his own ends. He's a bitch yes, and his Hermes would be a much more insidious, manipulative one, but there's really nobody else who fits the bill as much as Elias does. He enjoys the tragedy, actively basks in it in fact, and I think while Hermes continues to tell the story hoping that it might end well one day, Elias would tell it knowing that it never will and enjoying the inevitability of it all. He would appear genuine to the other characters, but the audience would know that he's a rat bastard - and this would show through to Tim during "Hey, the big artiste...".

Also I gave Jon a bundle of heliotropes instead of a red carnation bc they signify devoted, undying love and they have a tragic origin derived from an old Greek myth.

enjoy (or don't, whatever floats your boat). your art is very cool and got me to enjoy my own art process for the first time in a very long time so thank you a lot for that :)

There was a time when the moth hated the fog. When it kept him from seeing everything he wanted to, the light that he was certain he needed to find, that he was so sure the fog was just getting in the way of. The moth couldn’t say exactly how long ago that was now.

Did you know that moths are a symbol of transformation? Of change? He’d never thought much about it until the sky opened up and swallowed him whole in light, until the world ended and the candle could burn with that white-green spark that let him see everything. 

And the fog? At that point the moth didn’t mind it. It cared, was there, and, most importantly, it trailed behind him while they walked. It didn’t blur his vision anymore, it let him see and didn’t get in the way.

The fog knew it loved the moth, tried to help him when it could, tried not to be a burden. It was grateful for all the times the moth had decided to stay with it, even when he shouldn’t have. After all, sight was as important to him as the light that drew him every closer, and the fog didn’t want to cause more problems.

There really was so much weighing down on the tiny, frail, flightless bug. It’s no wonder that when he got his chance to finally, silently, and ever so intentionally (because he knew, as moths all do, that the light is their final knowing), be seen by the blazing, glowing eye of the candle that he’d watched all this time, he took it.

And it was only after the now-singed moth was enveloped by the fog, which had promised, as always, to follow, that he realized. The fog, in its grey and fleeting wisps, was a different sort of light. It cooled the burns and dulled the pain and let the moth at last stop having to watch.

So he could understand that its light was so very much to him, beautiful and real in all the ways that lanterns and candles and lighters and the sun could never be.

And the moth begged the fog to take him completely, to give him the grace of no longer having to see any other lights, to let him stay in its misty embrace. And the fog obliged, and the moth closed his eyes one final time.

Martin obliged, and Jon closed his eyes

tma has a lot of stuff about trust and choosing when and when not to trust people, so I think it's notable that even in s5 after melanie has had her brain shaken like an etch-a-sketch by the apocalypse, she still fundamentally trusts jon even though she doesn't like him, she even trusts him more than georige does. even having been knocked back like this, she's not lashing out randomly, she's recognizing when she's acted poorly, she's acting as a fear-checker on georgie, she's trying to keep herself reasonable with the cultists, and she thinks jon is about as well-intentioned and reliable as anyone else. however, like jon, she still needs some room to be a massive bitch in private on occasion. I say again: unwilling camp counselor energy.

Yeah so remember when I said "hey, expect more secret life designs soon!" then died for a month- Yeah, no that doesn't sound like me at all! Take the sketch, it's never going to get coloured like I intended.

Ignore the hectic past month. I'm back in business, AND i've got myself a proper drawing tablet now. An XP15.6 pro. AND I LOVE IT!! I've had the chance to draw on it a bit and get used to it, so expect some tma and DND oc art that I've made as secret santa gifts and such in the upcoming week. And hopefully more consistent drawings. I swear one day I'll be more consistant.

Yo I am back again with more art!

Although this time it’s for The Magnus Protocol (kinda)

So back when the trailer was first released, and I saw the logo I immediately wanted to draw some kind of fan art for it. I eventually came up with the idea of creating JMart out of it.

So I basically created it so that Martin is the Lion in the logo, and Jon is the Unicorn.

I didn't actually start working on the art until the first episode of TMP had released , so I was inspired to created even more variations of the original design, then I had originally intended. Anyway, onto the art!

So here's the first variation that I created, this one specifically based on the basic design of the logo. Originally I was only going to created this Red variation, but then like I said, I felt inspired.

Based on The Magnus Archives logo colors

A variation on TMA logo, with Martin in blue instead of green

A slightly glitchy variation.

This one I simply like to call Fog & Eyes

And finally a glitchy variation of the red variant. For this one I wanted to include the wounds that they might have received at the end of TMA 200, during the explosion. Obviously Jon was stabbed, but I was theorizing that Martin probably got some hard core scrapes and burns, before they were pulled through the rift.

Ik it's from like two years ago so you by no means have to answer this but I just discovered your tma campanella au and I was wondering if there's like- a specific story to it? I just watched Night on the Galactic Railroad, so is it basically just another version of that story, or? I'd love to hear more about it!!!

most of the early drawings i made for campanella were made without a story in mind, and even the later drawings were made with only a vague narrative in mind. i wouldn't call what i have specific, but i do have some (somewhat disjointed) thoughts on the world of campanella. i never really managed to really pin it down or write it out in full, but here are a few musings and sketches:

the story starts with canon tma ending and jon and martin blasting off into space and time to emerge somewhere else. in this process, martin 'reincarnates' as a star and jon becomes a regular shmegular human baby.

martin, in his nature of being a sentient star, is a very lonely phenomenon. he carries with him a little red radio that never seems to pick up a signal. he is often overcome with heavy feelings of loss, loneliness and longing, but he doesn't know why or how; he has no literal memories of his past life. sometimes he cries starry tears. the red wisps are a semi-sentient extension of himself, and when he's feeling bad he'll cocoon himself for comfort.

jon grows up with certain oddities in his life. his dreams are extremely vivid and contain worlds that are manifestations of fear entities, some more antagonistic than others. as a youth, jon experiences frequent nightmares and has sleep issues, compounded by him feeling a certain 'presence' in real life that manifests as a shadow following him in his dreams. towards his adulthood the dreams become less threatening, and eventually they vanish completely.

(this part is very speculative, because i never managed to research astronomy enough to make this make sense... 🥲)

jon gets a job as a data analyst at an observatory, and in this way he eventually discovers martin, though he only recognises it as a somewhat abnormal star. after the discovery, the team he's part of shifts its focus towards investigating the abnormalities of the star.

one morning he wakes up and finds a star in his hair. unsure of what to do with it, he leaves it on his nightstand. the next morning, he wakes up with more stars in his hair. from there, jon starts getting vivid dreams again, and in his dreams he's his kid self being guided by the shadow through different worlds that he saw in his youth. in these dreams he now finds objects that act like pieces of a puzzle leading him to his own past life and martin. through the stars that stuck to jon in the waking world, martin can feel the other trying to 'find' him, reaching out to 'find' him in turn, and in the end, they do.

addendum: the thing about drawing without a fixed plot in mind is that some aspects are either changed or forgotten. in this way i completely forgot about a paper plane once having a role in the story despite it having appearances in both art and my animation for the au/// 🥲 having stated that, i feel like, because of the 'not-set-in-stone' nature of campanella (where even i, the creator, ended up forgetting about a major visual element), i'd love for folks to ascribe their own meaning to it as they see fit!

the footnotes along the sides are just BUILDING NAMES?? and then ARCHITECTS ??????? i do really like the cyclical nature of these notes, one makes u flip thru several pages and then you have to turn the book upside down and flip back thru the same pages. the last note in this series is right at the 2nd page in this sequence but along the side. makes me think of. a spiral ::-) makes me smile.

im just now realizing some of these notation marks are letters instead of numbers....X appears several times (that footnote is on page 107) but theres also like, LL (but if the first L was reversed)? and this one is F (page 122). not sure if there is a meaning here

i like that the footnote on page 488 is another of those aeronautic symbols (theres a chart of some of them on a collage in the back) and this one means "heavily injured, need a doctor"...............

So I do love the way you drew Simon and Betty in that TMA crossover piece, but. I have notes which is incredibly silly, especially for the thing I disagree on, being the chosen symbolism. I’m curious, what made you pick out the Eye for Simon, and the Spiral for Betty? I always saw their vibes as more Lonely for Simon, and Eye for Betty.

After all, Simon’s whole thing seems to be isolation- with or without the crown. And Betty, she’s constantly suffering the pain of Knowing- knowing what it used to be, knowing the ways she could make it back to normal, and then as GOLBetty, knowing and surveilling everything. Even gets extra eyes.

I do see the argument for something like Corruption for Simon, as it’s close bedfellows with the relationship aspects of Lonely, and all the crown stuff and being forcibly changed and the “romance”/obsession aspects of it, and TBH, Betty’s brand of Eye would also be close to Spiral.

For Simon being the eye?! I can't lie... it's fully because every time I see people posting Simon art in non-adventure-time style, it takes me a moment to realise it ISN'T Jonathan Sims. But if I had to make some shit up on the spot?? It was his search for knowledge that got him cursed in the first place, I feel like he could be marked by multiple different entities with all that seeking he did, yk? But yeah...mainly it was just a "hehe... nerd old man" thing

Then for betty, oh my beloved!! She was actually originally going to be the lonely! It was straight up going to be Simon and betty as Jon and Martin drawing at first! But through several hours of watching magic betty edits on tiktok, especially with her coocoo laughter she does in a few scenes. My mind got absolutely stuck on her being a spiral victim. There's a good lot of parallels between her and Micheal. From him blindly following gertude to his death, and betty lovingly following Simon to her own decent into madness, to the Micheal-Helen switch and the magic man-magic betty switch!! There's a lot in my mind that I'm not all to great at spewing into words, so my evidence is gonna have to just be left to "vibes."

Also, I kind of just wanted to draw betty coocoo bananas. By the time my sketch was finished, I didn't even wanna draw Simon, just HEEER!!! which...is rather obvious when you look at the difference in effort I put into the two of them, lmao

First off, thank you for this. I don't have too many thoughts right now cuz it was just meant to be a joke but then I actually designed the kids and got attached lol. So it might just turn into a fix it au. To answer your questions:

Adam (she/her) is 19, and Hadiya (they/them) is 14

It's meant to be a fix-it. In the case of Jon and Martin survive and end up somewhere else. After they've settled a bit, gotten married, and are finally comfortable they have two kids: Adam and Hadiya. I'm going to say for now "something happens." I'll figure that out later (unless someone has ideas which I'm open to hearing). The kids steal some artifact or another from the evil organization Jonny and Alex are introducing in tmagp that allows them to travel back in time to s1 (I'm gonna say it's a one use item so I don't have to deal with complications :P). And they go about trying to set Jon and Martin up without interfering with the metaplot or actually revealing themselves. And also to stop some bigger evil that I also have not came up with yet

They were meant to be the two main protagonists of tmagp but it's since changed plot as I write this down.

Oh I hadn't thought of them accidentally revealing themselves to their younger parents!!! Omg I wonder which one would!! From the limited stuff I have thought of, Adam would seem like the type to accidentally reveal it to Jon and Martin, being a bit louder in her opinions and thoughts. Whereas Hadiya is quieter and more calculated. But it'd be interesting if Hadiya was the one to accidentally let it slip. Maybe they started to miss their parents and cry about it to the not-together-yet coworkers. Oh this is actually a really cute idea!!!

Extra stuff!! Ok so Adam's age is because I don't want her to be the same age as me, so she's one year younger. Originally I had their names switched but I liked the idea of the older one of them being Adam better. They are both trans. Adam prefers Jon and Hadiya prefers Martin. Hadiya has some grey streaks in their hair that I forgot to include, and Adam inherited Martin's freckles but they only show when she's been under the sun too long.

Here's a picture of my notes when I first got the idea earlier today. Oh shoot! You can tell I didn't reference this scribble when I made that comic cuz I forgot I gave Adam a cane! I'll have to keep that in mind going forward.

My Artist’s Year in Review

Unfortunately, I haven’t put out much art this year. So I’m using my favourite sketch pages from this year instead of pieces. December 2022

This was a difficult time for me motivation-wise, and this was the only full page I made at that point, as most of my (now-lost) art was digital then! My favourite sketch here is the Grant Cohen in blue at the bottom.

2. January 2023

Another especially-difficult month for me. Again, the only full page I was able to fill, unfortunately. I really like the Norman in the top-left corner; he was so fun to draw!

3. February 2023

My bestie (@harmonyblossom19 btw, hey girl) had said that MatPat gave off Fred ScoobyDoo vibes, so I drew their fusion—dubbing him “FredPat” shortly thereafter. It was the best of February’s doodles, though I’m still not proud of it. This was around the time I moved here from my old blog!

Do y’all remember The Orchard Mystery Series, that set of OCs I had a while ago? Well, here's the main two characters–Dick and Melanie! I wanted to try a washed background and layering the sketch on top of it—though I should have looked up some tutorials before taking on this task lmao

I drew this after coming home from the camping trip that inspired the DMAU! I picked my favourite (left) and least-favourite (right) outfits, and drew my blorbos in them. Yugi’s bag is still my favourite bag I own irl to this day.

My birth month babeyyyyy! And to celebrate ya boy’s 18th, I decided to draw some really nice-looking Ryous, and a full-body Yugi! The Ryou doodles are my favourite here, purely for the way the hair looks.

I love every aspect of this piece to DEATH! The way Atem is looking at Yugi, their facial expressions, the clothes, the pins on Yugi’s shirt! This is definitely one of, if not the best piece here.

This is all of the OCs I’ve stuck together for various universes. Lilith and Star are from a D&D-inspired universe called Spires of Heavenly Light and Shadow, and of course, Lyra and Sol are from TQFTAD. I’m so in love with the Star doodle here.

This was a train wreck of a year, but I think I pulled myself out of it pretty well. I hope your years have been just as great, if not better!
