Weird dreams I have been having the last few days: A thread:
Wesdnday night: Dreamed about playing pretend at my old grand parents house had ghosts, but I was an adult. I had an actual US general with me too. Oh and I WAS FRIENDS WITH SEPHIROTH. He came over to my house in a cloak n sword. Told him stop with that goth shit. Thursday Night: I dreamed I was back at college, living in the dorms. Things were pretty normal, until Nemesis from RE3 busted out of a empty swimming pool and I fought him hand to hand. I was more upset that I had lost my Switch in its carrying case than anything else. Yesterday: I dreamed I was at mall. Then I was sparring with Djimon Hounsou. I kept doing these green lightning bolts on the ground then did fireball FADC into Shin Shoruyken. Won both sets we had. Sadly, its the best set of SF I've played in months.

I dream of electric sheep

I dream of electric sheep upgrade#
The big reveal comes when the one television and radio program that is popular with everyone, titled Buster Friendly, is actually run by androids and Buster and Wilbur Mercer are always vying for each others attention.
I dream of electric sheep upgrade#
Hell breaks lose when several things happen: He realises that the manufacturer of the androids, The Rosen Association, is after him so they may upgrade from their Nexus 6 model to make their androids more human, that there is a parallel society, a police headquarters to be precise, functioning right here, that there is a human he hates so much because he thinks he is an android and there is an android he falls in love with. Rick has four androids to eliminate using this. Here’s the answer to the first question: “ Empathy, evidently, existed only within the human community.” Thus, the world has created a test to distinguish the androids from the humans based on this principle. He constantly chides the black empathy box which collects the consciousness of everybody touching the gear at that moment and transfers their emotions to one another - with nothing but the image of Wilbur Mercer trudging along a wasteland, symbolising the endless struggle of humanity. If there was any proof needed why pets are important, read this book. His dream is to own a real animal to replace the electric replica of a sheep he currently owns. Dial what for a worrying panic about the future of the world? He functions chiefly with the help of his Penfield mood organ - a device, which, upon dialling a number makes you feel an emotion, against your own instinctive wish. Rick Deckard, whom most of you must know as the Blade Runner played by actor Harrison Ford, is on a mission to hunt down six delinquent androids who have come to Earth from their colonies, illegally. If I can say it as a 23-year old former commitment-phobic person, anyone can. How necessary is love and empathy for survival?Īt this point, I am reminded of Ray Bradbury’s comment that in the end, love is all that matters. Dick’s dystopian drama is, of course, filled with the few basic tenets that the genre associates with - a planet destroyed by war, a human colony in outer space, lots of dust, very little living life besides humans and the advance of technology strong enough to duplicate humanity in most forms.ĭick’s book stands at the vortex of two major questions:Ģ. (“What can I say? I only read science-fiction book I fall in love with.” Guess the reference?) Yet, or maybe that is why, 32 pages into this book, I was dreaming of friends who were in two places at the same time and talking to their other selves. Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep is the second one. I have a very limited, can-count-on-my-fingers number of the genre, some short stories and currently only two novels I can think of. I’ll be honest - I am not (yet) a science fiction aficionado.

You’ve made allusions to an android AU, may I venture a hc?
König (my beloved) is the most likely out of all of the guys to just. Literally not have a face. This boy was built exclusively for heavy combat - he’s probably got five cameras for eyes on a composite ceramic face. There is no synthskin. Briareos from APPLESEED vibes.
OK Android au is a Ghost au because that's my husband. I love the idea of König as a heavy duty mech. Let's run through what my thoughts on the au are and then never speak of it again
So Ghost as an android. Military grade, top of the line. I mean literally irreplaceable, no one knows how they made him, where he came from, or how he's able to think and do the things he does. It's almost unbelievable. You, the 141's mechanic, don't believe it. You've fixed up plenty of androids, you'd rerouted circuit boards and rewritten enough code to know that Ghost should not be doing the things he's doing. You think he's thinking. He shouldn't be thinking. Not the way he seems to be, at least.
Androids think, to a certain degree, but artificial intelligence is... well it's not exactly real. It's pattern recognition and computers running simulations. It's math. Complicated math, but still math. Ghost isn't doing math, he's making decisions. The 141 lets him out, free range, in the field and trusts him to think and act within the parameters- Fuck do they even set parameters for him?
He comes to see you the same way the men go to see the doctor. Reluctantly. Another thing he shouldn't be doing, that he's hiding from the rest of the unit, feeling. That's what first tipped you off that he was thinking, the way he lingered in your doorway when other androids would be marched in by their COs. Ghost stood in the door to your workshop and hesitated, like he didn't want to see you, or was hoping you wouldn't be in. When you'd made eye contact with his cameras, the red glow behind sculpted bone, he'd marched right in and sat down in front of your work bench.
"Need some maintenance," He's said, the transmitters for his voice box warm and rumbling behind the slight static. You'd never heard false vocal cords like that.
He's a wonder of mechanics. His back plate is dented, the synth-skin charred and bullet ridden, and when you take too long poking around trying to figure out how to get it off he reaches back and presses a button at the top of his spine. The black composite plates lining his spine -what a human would call a spine- release with a hiss and the back plates on either side pop up with a quiet click. You could spend hours looking at the motors running his muscles, like cogs in a clock. They spin silently, just on the edge of warm when you touch them, expanding his synthetic muscles almost like he's breathing. A cooling system you assume, or exhaust exchange. You grab a few tools from your bench and tug your safety goggles on to get started.
It's strange, you feel like a proper doctor working on him. Ghost sits like a rock for you, but he's sitting, he's active. You glance at his face like you'll catch him flinching away from the laser you drag against powder burns, or think he'll roll his shoulder to test the fit when you tighten one of the millions of tiny screws. You'll have to come up with something new to use on the tight coils of synthetic muscle he has. You've never seen anything like it, you'll need something custom if he comes in with anything bigger than a bullet wound. He's patient as you reshape his back plate, banging the dent out and soldering a patch over the hole.
"You'll need a new one of these," You tell him. He makes a noise almost like a hum, you chalk it up to motors whirring. Strange when they'd been so quiet before.
"Battle scars," He jokes, and you freeze, "That's what Soap calls them." He covers, but- He made a joke. He's covering, it's a good cover, but- He made a joke. Androids don't make jokes, they approximate jokes.
You're still thinking about it when he leaves. You're a good mechanic, a great one, but you can't explain Ghost away as subroutines and ai. You stare down at your diagnostic report, your repair report. You hesitate and mark "functioning optimally" before jotting down the repairs you made. It's probably nothing. No reason to snitch on the 141's prized android just because you're a little spooked.

[ID: an 11 panel comic featuring characters from the owl house. Panel 1- a cloaked Darius sneaking around a wall. panel 2 he peaks around the corner, saying "well? Did you retrieve...the package?". Panel 3 Hettie Cutburn (who has old Hollywood style text announcing "surprise Hettie Cutburn!" next to her) says "Darius! Of course! Took some digging but I found them eventually. Tell the boy I say 'hi!'". Panel four- she hands documents labeled "classified" to Darius. Later, Hunter (post timeskip) walks through a door in Darius' home, saying "hey Darius, hey Eber, I'm ba-". Next panel- Darius, Willow, and Eberwolf on the couch. Hunter says "...willow?", She replies "hey hunter!", he asks "what are you guys doing?
Darius says "oh nothing...except looking at pictures of you as a baby!" Holding up the documents from earlier. We see two pictures of a younger hunter framed like panels- the first is of hunter as a baby/toddler aged hunter freshly sprouted out of the ground with a blanket around him, covered in dirt, while the second one shows a young scout Hunter covered in bandages receiving his sprig plushie. Darius' narration reads "courtesy of Hettie Cutburn- she found the only surviving copy of your early life medical records and gave them to me". Willow says "aww, you were so cute!". The final panel shows Hunter looking embarrassed/stunned as Willow takes a photo of the documents, and Darius says "I'm considering it an early father's day present- so, thank you, Hunter". End ID]
MERRY DADRIUS WEEK!!! Thank you to @sergeantsporks for hosting! There's other prompts I wanna do but they'll probably be late (maybe I'll do them in bulk and upload them on the final day). Til then here's a silly comic!

I have two wolves in me
One wants Skidad to be a chaotic evil irredeemable villain that kills kids for his immortality cult and only married Lila and has Skid for the cult
The other wants Skidad to have done terrible no good very bad things for the cult but then died and has been trapped in the mannequin and forced to reflect on all the shit he's done for years until by episode 10 he's a completely different person and he still cracks jokes all the time

Frank was the wildcat who was very homophobic but based on his writing he seemed really gender curious. I also think his writing of women genuinely improves over the course of the Dune books and I think he deserves credit for trying to write female characters when most scifi writers couldn't be bothered or were avowed misogynists (here's to you Philip K. Dick).

Fun fact: Philip K. Dick in the original "Do androids dream of electric sheep" used androids as a metaphor for nazis. This vision, however didn't get to the film adaptation (1982) where the narrative got changed (which is not a bad or good thing. Just curious how androids are used to refer to different things in fiction)
Some Philip's quotes from this interview:
For me the word ‘android’ is a metaphor for people who are physiologically human but psychologically behaving in a non-human way.
---
I got interested in this when I was doing research for "the man in a high castle" and I was studying Nazi mentality, and I discovered although these people were highly intelligent they were definitely deficient in some manner <...> and as I studied the Nazi mentality <...> I became conscious of a very highly intelligent human being who is emotionally so defective that the word "human" could not properly be applied to him, and I used this in my writing in such terms as "Android" and "Robot" but I'm really referring to an actually psychologically defective or malfunctioning or pathological human being
---
By the time I got to sheep I was revolutionary enough and existential enough to believe that these defective personalities were so lethal, so dangerous to human beings that it might be necessary ultimately to fight them. In other words that they could not be cured they cannot be changed and that it might literally wind up as a contest to see whether the humans won or "Androids" won. Now, the problem then would be that would we become like the androids in our really effort to wipe them out?
---
If you kill a person because he is inhuman do you not become inhuman in the act of killing him?
