i'm not entirely expecting it, but i hope that we'll get a flashback scene of polin's meet cute, because it truly is one of the very rare meet cutes that is actually cute.

Thinking. Abt this but with Bones. Like. Post-Tholian Web? Post-Mirror Mirror?
For AOS, could be after Into Darkness and/or Beyond.
A Bones who's just. So anxious. So stressed. So overwhelmed that it starts taking a toll on his health. Maybe he doesn't even realise - or maybe he does and tries his best to push through it until it knocks him on his ass. Kind of in the vein of "You don't actually know how tired you are until you stop. And then you just physically cannot start again." It becomes his new baseline, a problem that just brews and storms in the distance.
And he just carries on. And keeps going and going and going until one day he realises that 'Oh fuck, I'm not okay' and has about 5 seconds of warning before he straight up collapses, doesn't matter if it's on the bridge, in the madbay, on a planet - he's going down. (Maybe a repeat of Tholian Web where he just straight up faints into Spock's arms? Full whammy, why not)
Maybe it's a high-tension situation getting resolved that does it. The pure relief of it reminds him of how tired he is. How tired he's been for a while. His body sees that momentary rest and goes "More of that, please. And I'm not asking."
And he's so rendered by it that he doesn't grumble about being coddled like he normally would when he wakes up. He knows not to fuck with the medbay staff - they're just as firm as he is on recovery, and that's not by accident - and he knows that Spock and Kirk will be hovering, because they see any problem as something they, too, should shoulder the burden of.
...And because they're some of the most protective people in the damned universe. And that goes for pretty much all the people on board the Enterprise.
In some scenarios, it's just a case of letting his body and mind rest properly. In others, there's a lot more recovery involved than anyone initially expects. Luckily for him, he has a found family who are determined to be there with him at every step. It just takes a couple reminders, every once in a while.
Thinking about how in The Hunger Games the management team was dressing and presenting Katniss and Peeta as a set from the start, even before Peeta told anyone he was in love with Katniss and that became then going strategy. It becomes clear throughout the series that all of them were or become active in the rebellion so it seems clear to me that the intention was just to be subversive. ‘Just the perfect touch of rebellion’ as Haymitch says.
And then of course it all helps them sell the love story. The prep teams would have probably mentioned how Katniss and Peeta reassured each other after the opening ceremonies, how Katniss kissed Peeta on the cheek. Any of the trainers could have spoken about how they were always together for all three days of instruction. There were almost certainly guards watching the two of them on the roof, talking to each other, Peeta giving Katniss his jacket when she’s cold. And there’s no way none of their classmates noticed the two of them watching each other in school through the years. Hell Peetas whole family probably knew about his crush, we know they all knew Katniss.
‘Peeta must have been playing that angle all along’ ‘mostly Peeta really, there’s no question he’s carrying this romance thing on his shoulders.’ Katniss just didn’t get to see all the interviews they did that were telling her side of the love story.
The dramatic irony of everything happening with Jojo Siwa is so fucking hilarious
First she exploits a disabled child -not hilarious- repeats the cycle of abuse that she was subjected to on dance moms with her own show, allegedly cheats on her girlfriend, etc, etc. then she goes through her “switch” and goes through her 14 year old emo phase at 20.
Tell me why this kid has the audacity to sing a song called Karma.
She tries so hard. She’s trying so hard to make it seem like she’s making the most dramatic change of her generation, she’s completely changed, no more rainbow glitter dance moms now we have emo sparkle darkness revenge fairy. She wants people to think she wrote Karma. She talks about her writing process, and she says how brilliant she is for thinking it up, but she also says that it was pitched to her a few times so we can’t accuse her of lying.
I think on paper this plan was probably a great idea, a chance to break out of her reputation for bows and glitter, but the execution is nothing but a disappointment. I think instead of going emo and taking inspiration from things she doesn't understand and being genuine, the switch honestly could've been welcomed with open arms but she's not genuine and she doesn't want to make a natural switch. She wants to be risky because she thinks it'll make her look cool or someone higher up decided for her and she went along with it because that's what'd make more money or maybe her mom made her.
Once it came out that Jojo didn't only not write the song herself, she wasn't even the first one to record it, that's when the irony of the situation kicks in. I know absolutely nothing about Brit Smith but she's and icon and I love her with my whole heart.
Brit Smith releasing her version of Karma and it doing better than Jojos is my favorite form of dramatic irony because of course this all happened to a song named Karma.
I don't think you understand how devastated I am that, after looking at every single Minnie pic or image in the tag, I remembered she is not a real show character. SO SAD. WHAT DO YOU MEAN SHE ISNT CANON SHE SHOULD BE
Bökh: „Over 20 years ago, there was also a boarding school here, as you might know. And there were teachers that were good and others that were less good. And there were Externs and Internals. And there was a boy who was as homesick as you, Uli. And who read as much as Martina. Loved cake like Matze. And wanted to become a pop star, like you, Jo. And he had an enemy. His name was Robert. He was an Extern from the town here. And although this Robert seemed the have everything the boy wanted, he still picked on him. Pushed him around and made fun of him… Well, like the Externs have done with the Internals for generations, right.“
Jo: „And vice versa.“
Bökh: „Exactly. And vice versa.“
Bökh: „…yes. And one day, the boy’s mother got sick. She was brought here to Kirchberg into the hospital and the boy snuck away from the boarding school every day to visit her. And one day he was caught by the boarding school director. And he got grounded.“
Martina: „Couldn’t he just say what was up?“
Bökh: „No, because it was a very… cold and stern man whom he didn’t trust. And Robert in turn knew from his father, who was a doctor at the hospital, that the boy’s mother was fighting for her life there. So he offered his help."
Bökh: „And so every night he layed in the boarding school bed in place of the boy. So that he could visit his mother. And then they became really good friends. Even had a band together. They weren’t all that bad.“ (sighs)
Bökh: „I certainly don’t need to tell you who this boy was, right?"
All of the kids in unison: „You, Herr Bökh.“
Bökh: „Exactly. And why I’m telling you this story.“
Uli: „I think I understand it.“
Matze: „So we get Chips and Lemonade?“
(chuckling)
Jo: „The Externs today aren’t like that.“
Bökh: „Jo, I obviously care about two things. Firstly; rules are well and good, but not as important as humanity. Ok? And secondly I want you to trust me, that you’re not afraid to come to me. Okay?“
The kids nod.
Bökh looks at his watch.
Bökh: „Alright. I need to get a bit of work done now.“
Martina: „But what happened to Robert?“
Bökh slumps back in his seat with a heavy sigh.
Bökh: „Ach. Robert, he… I think he later studied medicine in the city. Ah, we unfortunately lost touch.“
Jo: „Why?“
Bökh: „… Well, that- That happens sometimes when you become an adult, then… suddenly, your closed loved ones are gone.“
Jo: „… What, just like that?“
Bökh nods silently.
Bökh: „… Mhm.“
Matze: „How sad… I think friends should always stick together.“
Bökh: „Yeah, exactly.“
Jo: „Can’t you prevent that somehow?“
Bökh: „Yes. We need to look out for each other. Ok?“
Bökh: „Alright. I need to get a bit of work done now. Take your lemonades with you.“
The kids scuffle and stand up. Jo takes a bowl of chips with her as well.
i think something people forget about pink diamond is that she had compassion for life long before she went to earth
the pebbles assume steven is pink not because of his gem or aura but just because he says ‘hello’ and ‘thank you’ to them, a basic common courtesy that nobody else has given them in thousands of years
in steven’s pink visions, blue is yelling at pink about the little bugs she let loose on homeworld. when one of them is found in her cell, she is quick to check it’s okay before helping it out of the room. even before encountering humans she valued organic life.
even the garden, the setting of pink’s cruellest moment, is proof of her care for organic life. Unlike every other part of homeworld, the garden is teeming with plant-life, which was kept healthy enough that it continued to grow even after pink abandoned it. the only other homeworld structure that tends to organic life is the human zoo. who’s to say the garden wasn’t another attempt by the other diamonds to placate pink after she expressed concern for the life on one of their colonies? or maybe pink picked the plants herself from the many different colonies she visited and grew them there.
pink wasn’t perfect. she had a bad habit of acting on her emotions and impulses without considering the consequences of her actions, and she hurt a lot of people because of it. but she considered all life precious and worth protecting, it just wasn’t until she had a colony of her own that she fully understood that the expansion of homeworld was intrinsically linked to the destruction of life, and the moment she realised that is the moment she stood against it.
The third and final part of my series on yokai medicine. Parts one and two covered standard chemical medications and mystic medicine, leaving one final option: spells cast directly on a person.
Since there is no chemical component interacting with the body when a spell is used, there is much less risk of dependence or addiction. However, they are also extremely complex and usually have to be tailored to the individual for full effectiveness, so they are only used in cases where medication is needed long-term, like in cases of chronic pain/illness. Casting this kind of spell is also usually outside the range of expertise of the average yokai, so they have to go to a trained healer in order to get this kind of spell cast for them. Spells are something of a last resort because of this.
There is one major issue with spells: the complexity needed to effectively tailor treatment to an individual so that the spell does what they need it to do can make it difficult to predict how long a spell will actually last. Sure, you could cast a spell on a patient to reduce their chronic back pain for a month, but you have no idea if the spell will actually last that whole month or not, and when spells stop working, they stop working fast. Many people don't want to go through the process of living relatively pain-free for three or four weeks, then getting hit with the full force of their pain with no warning. Yes, spells can be tweaked to avoid this, but it's a time-consuming process of troubleshooting that can take months or years to get right.
There's also the issue that, if a person does decide to cast the spell themselves, it usually drains their mystic energy reserves substantially. And if they don't know what they're doing, they might not notice until their energy levels become dangerously low. Yes, spells can be cast in a way to shut themselves off before they take too much energy, but increasing the complexity like that means that the spell will need even more energy to maintain itself. The average yokai simply isn't capable of casting a spell that powerful and having it last more than a few days, and for many people that just isn't worth it, especially if they already have chronic health issues.
