Didn’t Need Burrow (August 7th-September 13th)
Anonymous asked:
Didn’t Need Burrow: Ladybug and Chat Noir will be asked to participate in judging a competition that Marinette and Adrien are both a part of. Ladybug will want to vote for herself as Marinette, but Tikki will tell her(once detransformed and while she is snacking) that she can’t because then people will know that Marinette is Ladybug. Chat Noir, meanwhile, will freely vote for Adrien with no repercussions or drawbacks, and Adrien will end up winning the competition. Marinette will admit that she was “so silly” to even think of voting for herself, especially since “Adrien needs the award more so that I do” despite being rich, white, male, and “perfect”(oh, I’m sorry, “purrfect”!), since all of Marinette’s legitimate problems of anxiety, dyspraxia, and the like get thrown out the window because the writers’ perfect sunshine boy incel stand-in has a “saaad home life!”, and Marinette needs to give him pity and put his feelings above his rather than wish for her own success. Cuz Girl Power.
tbh, given the leaks script, I’d reverse that and saying that Adrien voted for LadyNoir as Couple of the Year.
Anonymous asked:
Didn’t Need Burrow: Marinette and Adrien will reveal their identities, and Marinette actually WILL be disappointed that the boy who goofed off in fights and didn’t take no for an answer is none other than her perfect modeling celebrity crush. However, rather than this being a point towards Adrien needing to learn how to improve himself and accept Marinette’s feelings, this scene is used to make HER look bad(because of course it is) and she is blamed for expecting Adrien to be perfect(despite being encouraged and told to see him as such), and told that she should be happy that Chat was hitting on her even when she didn’t like it or it got in the way of battle plans, likely by Alya, because it was her true love under the mask all along. Eventually she “learns her lesson”(ick) and comes to accept Adrichat for who he is, warts and all. Bonus if she has a flashback to when Chat said “if you saw me without my mask you wouldn’t be able to resist me” as she realizes that he was right.
Didn’t Need Burrow? More like “Didn’t Need to Think About This”
i hate it
Anonymous asked:
Don't Need a Burrow: Luka will be Chat Blanc "2.0"
But Luka doesn’t have Chat-level favoritism going so Bunnyx won’t be there to defend him from consequences.
Anonymous asked:
We will have Ladybug!Alya in Marinette's akumatization episode. Obviously everyone would think that she is "better" than "old" Ladybug. (Bonus points if Ladybug!Alya don't "alienate" Chat Noir, mostly by catering to his whims)
Oh, of course! No one will miss the “old” Ladybug.
Anonymous asked:
Don't Need a Burrow: Bob Roth is akumatized into Rip Off, a supervillain with power to copy anything he sees (including powers of heroes)
Okay but that’s genius.
(I know we already had it in “Miraculer” but I like this more.)
Anonymous asked:
DNB: Now that Luka knows their identities, he will push the Love Square in a romantic manner. Stans would be totally fine with this because it doesn't interfere with their endgame :)
Well, obviously!
I’m just waiting for them to basically say that the secret identities don’t matter and, because they like one side, also means they like the other side.
Because forget nuance, am I right?
Anonymous asked:
Don't Need a Burrow: In the end, (after Adrienette gets together) Narrator reveals himself (herself?) as Alya with words "that's how I helped my bestie [Marinette] get a relationship with love of her life [Adrien]" or something similar.
wait, Alya, are you filming a Ladybug biography
why did you include all the humilation
why
That explains her making herself look good though.
Anonymous asked:
Don't Need a Burrow: Luka will finally reveal that he knows Heroes' secret identities... to Alya, who obviously decide to hide from Marinette that Luka knows her identity (Bonus Points if reason provided by Alya why she is doing this is utterly ridiculous)
AAAAAAAAAAAA
I guess Luka would have to realize that Alya knows. Bonus if he tells her Chat’s identity too so love square shipping can commence.
Anonymous asked:
Don't Need a Burrow: "Knitting Fairy" will be name of Marinette's akumatized form.
Can you say “reused design”? I certainly can, we’re used to it.
Anonymous asked:
Didn’t Need Burrow:
Luka keeping his knowledge about the identities (esp. Ladybug’s) will somehow blow up in a way for the writers to paint him in a bad light, probably ending with Marinette not trusting him. (As well as no hint of irony that Adrien did the same thing for completely selfish reasons in Chat Blanc).
MiraculousMX: Platonic soulmates!
us: Source??
Anonymous asked:
DNB: If LS gets reversed, Adrien complains about Marinette having other friends. Not just being friends with Luka or any other guys, but friends PERIOD, showing the same jealousy/desire for his 'love interest' to be isolated as Chat Noir. These MASSIVE RED FLAGS are treated as Just More Innocent Sadrien Things, because he's sOoOoOo Sad and SoOoOoO Lonely~
Oh god, now I had an awful thought that this is where Adrien getting jealous of Luka, and Luka feels bad/”knows what’s best” so he either ditches Marinette/finds an excuse to leave or makes sure that Adrien gets his time with her.
Because it’s the love square so it’s “important” that Marinette spend time with Adrien.
Anonymous asked:
Dnb: assuming the Senti-Adrien theory is true, in the season finale, Viperion joins the fight, stops SM from using the ladybug an cat miraculi by going back in time only to use them by himself, wishing for Adrien to be a real boy (and love Marinette). Of course Luka needs to give something in exchange, worst case scenario, his life.
That got really dark.
Though tbh with how much they push Luka and Marinette around, one of them will probably have to give up something huge for Adrien (they both already sacrificed their relationship, so--).
Anonymous asked:
Don't Need a Burrow: If Chat Noir joins Shadow Moth then he is treated by both Gabriel and Heroes as his greatest asset, even through he is still complete joke that is defeated by rest of Heroes faster than Mr Pigeon in "Timetagger". (Bonus points if Heroes defeat him by "Backhand Offhand", Offscreen or he is defeated by "Friendly Fire" from Akuma of the Week due to his own stupidity)
tbh I could probably do more sad math with “how often Chat Noir/Cataclysm is useless,” bonus if it’s put up against characters/Ladybug stroking his ego.
Anonymous asked:
DNB: Adrien's fears concerning Ladybug are made more explicit through a nightmare/vision (possibly akuma-induced) of Ladybug calling him unreliable/saying she doesn't need him anymore because she has partners she can actually COUNT on. Naturally, this is treated as Pure Sadrien Hours rather than a fair critique. Bonus if he ditches/forces her to beg for his assistance AGAIN to soothe his poor bruised baby ego.
*“Malediktator” flashbacks, but Adrien instead of Chloe*
Anonymous asked:
Didn't Need Burrow: Adrien/Chat Noir skips out on a fight/akuma attack for some spiteful, selfish reason or another. Ladybug handles it without him, either completely through her own skill or with help from Rena/other heroes. Adrien then angsts about 'not being needed', with Marinette's 'Mistake of the Day' being that she didn't cater to his pity party due to being too busy DOING HER DAMNED JOB.
me seeing that one leaked script where they talk about how Chat/Cataclysm would make things easier: *sigh*
Anonymous asked:
Didn't Need Burrow: Plagg will encourage Adrien to act even more selfishly, skipping more battles and being even brattier. This is so his stans can blame Plagg for being 'a bad influence' on their perfect angel, even when it's clear the two of them are on the same wavelength. Oooh, he's twisting his rubber arm; how AWFUL--! Adrien would NEVER do all these Awful Things he's already done if he didn't have Plagg~! What a bad kitty~!
“rubber arm” jdfkgjndfjgfg
tbh Plagg already is super laidback and doesn’t really like transforming/complains about going into battle, so this isn’t much of a stretch.
Anonymous asked:
DNB: "Gabriel Agreste" or other episodes will reveal that Gabriel flew many, if not ALL of the same Red Flags his son displays on a regular basis. The narrative treats this as though this makes Gabriel more 'sweet, sad and sympathetic' rather than illustrating that both of them are dangerously entitled and generally awful.
This sounded really intriguing as a sort of “apple doesn’t fall far from the tree” thing until that last sentence kicked in.
That’s damn accurate to what they’d do too, ugh.
Anonymous asked:
DNB: Plagg is the one that discovers that Gabriel is Hawk/Shadowmoth, but is forcibly sworn to silence by Adrien. Bonus if Adrien somehow gives this command without learning what Plagg is trying to tell him -- i.e. he get irritated and orders Plagg to shut up in a way that bars him from EVER saying what he was attempting to say -- so that Adrien's stans can claim it was all a big misunderstanding and blame Plagg entirely for it. Or Marinette. Somehow.
Oh oh oh!
Alternatively, Adrien silences Plagg without realizing that he has that kind of power (like saying, “you can’t tell anyone!” and we see the magic hit Plagg’s mouth), so the fandom can say, “HE DOESN’T KNOOOW THAT HE DID IT.”
Anonymous asked:
dntb: Luka is gonna be villianised in some way for not telling Marinette he knows the identities of both of them
Meanwhile, Alya, slipping the bouncer her free pass.
Anonymous asked:
Don't Need a Burrow: After one of the kwamis makes one snickering comment too many, Marinette snaps and tells them all to shut up (with obvious outcome). Narrative obviously equals it to scene between Gabriel and Noroo from "Sandboy" (Bonus Points if Narrative deems Marinette worse than Gabriel, because "Gabriel forbid Noroo from talking as joke")
oh my goooooood
Marinette: *snaps because she’s stressed out*
the fandom: SHE SO MEAN!!! ;o;
Anonymous asked:
Don't Need a Burrow: Adrien's reveal as Sentimonster just for additional souce of "sad points" for him
this DNB: i am inevitable
mystic-lionroar asked:
Didn't Need Burrow: The writers' Status-Quo allergy kicks in when someone very pointedly implies Chloe, Lila and/or Gabriel work for Hawk Moth with how many Akumas they tend to cause... only to get reminded point blank that "Hawk Moth is the sole one responsible for this mess, no one else". Cue two episodes later, both the characters and the writers' memories of this scene are erased. What erased it? ╰( ・ ᗜ ・ )╯Why, Marinette can be held responsible for this one, of course! (Me: (ノಠ益ಠ)ノ彡┻━┻)
╰(‵□′)╯
OH MY GOOOOD
“Crocoduel” also basically already blamed Marinette for two akumatizations so at this point we’re just waiting.
Anonymous asked:
DNB: To further cement the whole 'destined to be' shlock, after the shock of the eventual reveal wears off, we get a call back to how frequently Chat Noir told Ladybug that they were meant for each other and that she 'was the only one who didn't see it'. Marinette agrees that she was silly and foolish for not recognizing it sooner, parroting Adrien's bullshit in order to further cement the notion that she's HAPPILY accepting her 'fate' to be nothing more than his personal prize.
You can’t see it but I have my head in my hands in grief.
Anonymous asked:
DNB: Adrien's gross sense of entitlement towards Ladybug will become even more explicit, with him angrily ranting about how he DESERVES to 'get the girl'. No matter how awful and nasty he gets, the narrative continues to treat him as though he's 100% right to be pissed off at her for DARING to have agency or thinking she has a say in things. As clearly, the biggest mistake Marinette has ever made is thinking she gets to have Opinions or make her own decisions. G-girl power...?
Marinette needing to be constantly told what’s best for her by other people and it’s okay because she needs to accept+follow all opinions.
end me
Anonymous asked:
DNB: The double standard between Adrien and other characters will be more noticeable. Adrien will still be put on a pedestal.
Because no one will notice Adrien if they didn’t put him on a metaphorical and physical pedastal.
Anonymous asked:
Don't Need a Burrow: Foxy Cat and CaraBug
omg Fox Adrien.is one of the worst hero choices I’ve ever heard fjdgjfjdglfkdg
I could at least see why Marinette thought that Adrien fit the snake since the narrative gushes for him so hard.
Anonymous asked:
Didn’t Need Burrow: As a result of being written by a straight white male writing team, the show starts to use Marinette’s girliness against her. From her love of pink being mocked to the kwamis admitting(in the spirit of another DNB) that they don’t respect Marinette because she’s “too girly”, to her fashion designing being treated as a cutesy but ultimately fickle pastime(in the spirit that all teenage girls’ interests are treated), the show absolutely throws Girl Power out the window in favor of giving Marinette absolute hell for daring to present herself in a traditionally feminine way, treating her femininity as the butt of a joke that no one is laughing at. Bonus points of someone says(or even outright tells her to her face) that she’s “such a girl”, as if that’s supposed to be an insult. Alternatively, this happens to Rose instead of Marinette, as she’s just as girly if not more so than her, or it happens to both of them(regardless of whether or not it’s at the same time).
WOOOOW
I mean, honestly, yeah.
Anonymous asked:
Didn’t Need Burrow: Things other characters did that were bad will be retconned into things that Marinette did instead, or will otherwise be retconned into being her fault, no matter how improbable or contradictory. Meanwhile, bad things characters did to Marinette or good things characters did FOR Marinette will be retconned into nonexistence.
I MEAN THEY BLAMED MARINETTE FOR “SILENCER” SO--
MATTER OF TIME.
Anonymous asked:
Don't Need a Burrow: Simultaneous Akumatization of Manon, Chris, Ella and Etta, obviously when they are babysat by Marinette, because otherwise ML Writers wouldn't be able to paint it as Marinette's fault
oh god
please no
I mean, not even just to blame Marinette for it, but I can’t even stand these kids when they’re on their own, MUCH LESS TOGETHER.
Anonymous asked:
Don't Need a Burrow: If Adrien gets akumatized, then it would be just Chat Blanc with shoulder pads and crown
Is this a reference to my Miracle Queen post?
Because yes.
Anonymous asked:
Didn't need burrow: In Hack-San Chat Noir will pull a Sentibubler and refuse to listen to Alya with the Ladybug Miraculous as he doesn't have a brain unless he can progress the not so progressive four-sided Hellfire, which is actually still the best-case-scenario. I mean he could just not come at all, since he's only there to flirt with and seduce Ladybug with unfunny jokes.
Anonymous asked:
DNB: Adrien causes problems because of Alyabug.
ugggggh
Anonymous asked:
DNB: Alya will immediately have access to things like the creation of charms despite how long it took for Marinette to be able to do that.
Wait--
If she doesn’t, did they literally just give Alya the ladybug miraculous because they knew that Markov wouldn’t have a way of hiding the amulet on him and they didn’t feel like putting it on his model???
Anonymous asked:
Didn’t Need Burrow: Alya’s Ladybug name is “Coccinelle” aka “Ladybug” in French. Or something equally lazy such as The Red Spotted One or the Scarlett Beetle. Even if it sounds cool at first glance, it will ultimately boil down to a plain and obvious name, because apparently EVERY superhero’s name has to so blatantly relate to the animal their Miraculous is based off of. For some reason. Somehow. -_-
fhkgjfdkgdfg okay but “The Red Spotted One” made me laugh.
Anonymous asked:
Hack-San DNB’s:
• Chat Noir will be upset that Ladybug trusted her miraculous to someone else.
• There will be a comment on how Alya was a just as good, if not better Ladybug than Marinette.
• Alya’s performance as LB will be used as another instance to show Marinette made the ‘right choice’ telling her her identity.
• Using the Horse to teleport back instead giving the earrings to Alya will not be mentioned as an option.
• Scene of Adrichat being sad about ‘feeling replaced’.
Especially on that “comment that Alya is just as good, if not better,” one, it probably won’t even be used as a reassurance for Marinette like, “oh, that’s good to know that I’m not the only one who can be Ladybug,” it’ll just be praise for Alya.
Anonymous asked:
Hack-San DNB: Chat Noir gets angry with LB for not telling him she was leaving & she has to apologize for it.
(Despite making sure there was a backup Ladybug to protect Paris, unlike Chat in the NY special who left the city completely unprotected).
Convenient.
Anonymous asked:
Don't Need a Burrow: "Dearest Family" (episode where both of Marinette's parents are akumatized) will be about Marinette learning "true value" of Chat Noir
Either that or incorporating Adrien into the family.
Anonymous asked:
Don't Need a Burrow: Psycomedian will be blatant Joker rip-off
You can just say “all akuma in the season will either be rip-offs of themselves or past akuma,” it’s okay. :P
Anonymous asked:
Another DNB for Hack-San, since we see Jagged Stone in the trailer, so if they show it..:
The “most precious possession” of Jagged’s will be Fang and not, y’know, either of his children.
I missed that trailer.
Honestly there could be some funny moments with the concept, but if Jagged is the only joke made about it then yes, I will be very bitter.
Alternatively, Jagged picks his guitar instead.
Anonymous asked:
DNB: In the Alyabug episode, Alya will either be Practically Perfect In Every Way™, or will royally screw up in a way that will somehow lead to Marinette. Either way, Cat Noir will flirt with the new Ladybug, or pull a Sentibubbler. Or both. There may or may not be a comment about how Alyabug's costume is so much better than Marinette's despite being a fashion designer.
dkfgkjdfgjf I adore how this whole thing is just, “there’s so many ways it could go wrong!”

Rooftop Riddles
Read on Ao3
WC: 5.1k
Summary: One riddle changes everything. Dramatic identity reveal, oneshot, ladynoir/adrienette | trigger warning - depression, self-harm, abuse/neglect
The breeze was nothing short of refreshing as she sat next to her partner in crime. He was silent for the time being, but she knew it was only a matter of time before he would start saying something stupid. So she took in her surroundings while there was still silence between them.
It was dark; street lights illuminated all of Paris. Shadows bounced from wall to wall as civilians took their nightly walks, either from work or just around the block to get some fresh, cool air before they go to sleep. There are also those pathetically trudging toward their place of employment for their overnight shifts, and Marinette felt for them. Being Ladybug was all too taxing on her, and she often felt like she worked 24 hours, but in reality it was just all of the extra exercise that made her so exhausted every day.
Looking over at Chat Noir, she takes in his appearance. His hunched back, drooped cat ears, slow breaths. He’s looking straight ahead, seemingly lost in his own train of thought. Her eyebrows furrow.
She opens her mouth to speak, but her partner beats her to it.
“Wanna hear a riddle?”
“Uh, sure.”
“Okay. What do you call a sad watermelon?”
Ladybug had to think. Biting her bottom lip, she pondered an answer.
“Um... I don’t know, what?”
“Melon-choly.”
A smile lit up her face.
“Oh!” She laughed.
“Here’s another. It’s kinda long, so get ready.”
She nods, shifting in her seat.
“A single father took care of his baby, and he was rich so the baby had a lot. Food, clothes, excessive stuff. What didn’tthe baby have?”
Marinette frowns, some weird feeling rushing through her veins. She sits up, narrowing her eyes at the boy clad in a black leather suit. He sits with his legs pulled up to his chest, looking straight forward. Not even a tiny upward lift of his lips, making her worry.
Something about the way he delivered that riddle was… ominous. It didn’t seem like he was disconnected from the story he was telling. It’s almost like he could relate.
She gulps.
“A mother?”
He nods, then hangs his head for a moment before pulling it back up and flashing an obviously fake smile in her direction.
“Bingo,” he says dryly.
Her frown deepens.
Why did that riddle sound like something personal? Is he rich?
That sounds like someone she knows. And the riddle boy’s mother was gone… that sounded like him too.
No, there’s no correlation. It’s just a random riddle.
“Alright, last one.”
“Okay,” she nods.
“I am twisted from what I was, to hold the weight of others. Yet tie a knot, and my use to this world is gone.”
Her heart plummets down into her stomach. She loses her breath and has to look back at the city of Paris to think.
If it was possible, this riddle sounded scarier than the last. Chat Noir must really be in a bad mood because normally he puns, not riddles, and the jokes he tells are stupid and funny. These are just... depressing. Her concern is growing by the minute.
She needs to give an answer.
Twisted… Hold the weight of others… Tie a knot… My use to this world is gone.
Tie a knot? What?
“I—“ she licks her lips and shakes her head.
“I’m at a loss. I don’t know.”
Chat hesitates before whispering the answer.
“A noose.”
Her eyes widen and she suddenly feels like she’s been punched in the face.
“Just kidding, it’s a paperclip.”
But he didn’t seem like he was kidding. She was officially scared.
“Chat, you’re worrying me.”
“What do you call a dead pine tree?”
“Chat.”
“A never-green.”
“Minou, I —“
“What do you call a broken pencil?”
“Chat Noir.”
“Pointless,” he laughs darkly.
“Chat Noir!”
Finally, he looks over at her and her mouth falls agape.
His complexion is so pale, lips are pressed into a thin line, and his eyes are glistening.
“What?” He asks, voice breaking on the word.
Carefully, she places her hands on either side of his face. She stares directly into his eyes.
“You’re worrying me,” her voice shakes. “Please tell me whatever’s making you upset so I can help.”
“… I-I’m not upset.”
“Kitty. You just told me a riddle about a noose.”
He shakes his head, scrunching his eyebrows.
“It was a paperclip, milady. Can’t you appreciate a good joke?”
“Chat, all of the jokes you’ve cracked tonight have been nothing short of depressing.”
Frowning, he pulls away from her hold, avoiding her gaze.
“So? New to dark humor?”
“No,” she shakes her head. “But that’s not normally the humor you have, Chaton.”
He’s quiet for a couple seconds before responding.
“Just wanted to try something different—“
“I’m not going to take these bullshit excuses, you know?”
Chat Noir raises an eyebrow, not used to such language coming from his lady.
“They’re not excuses—“
“YES they are!”
She softens her voice.
“Please,” she begs. “Talk to me.”
It’s almost as if she didn’t say anything, how he continues to stare into the distance, silently appreciating the view of Paris. She follows suit, not knowing what else to say. Instead, she decides to wait it out. Hopefully he’ll talk. Eventually.
And he does.
“My mother died about a year ago.”
Her jaw slackens, but she stays silent.
“Father has always been very… strict. But lately he’s been putting a lot on me. Stuff that… stuff that a normal, average sixteen-year old shouldn’t have to put up with,” he sighs.
He calls his dad father? The only other person who does that is…
Alarms go off in her head.
“He makes me take so many lessons beyond school. Chinese, fencing, piano— and he didn’t even let me go to public school until four months ago. I was homeschooled by my father’s assistant, I mean she’s a good family friend—“
Wait.
“And the only friend that was ever allowed over was the mayor’s daughter, and she’s snobby and hangs off of me like I’m her fucking property when I’m NOT and—“
Chloé?
“Father doesn’t even have dinner with me. I mean, maybe once every two months if I get lucky—“
Her eyes widen. He couldn’t be…
“But most of the time it’s just me and the family friend, and she’s not even eating! She’s looking over my schedule to make sure it’s as jam-packed as it was the day before. I swear I never get a break.
“Sometimes it feels like Father is always disappointed in me, no matter what I do. I feel like I’m trapped in his bubble, like I can’t get out. My house is like a fortress. Or a prison. Being Chat Noir is my escape but I just… It’s getting to be too much, milady.
“I don’t know how much more I can take.”
She feels like she lost her voice. Her brain is on overdrive.
If all the pieces are adding up, my akuma-fighting partner is also my crush who is also a world famous model and—
Focus, Marinette.
“It sounds stressful, A— uh, Chat.”
He intakes a sharp breath.
“Did I say too much?”
She bites her lip. Yes.
“No?”
It comes out as a question. He must suspect that she’s lying.
He tilts his head in admission, then looks down.
“Sorry.”
“Don’t be. Um… I’ll always be here for you. You know that, right?”
Slowly, Chat Noir—Adrien—meets her gaze once again.
His response was hesitant. “Yeah.”
She has to sigh; she doesn’t seem to be getting through to him.
“Minou, you are loved and wanted and I want to make sure you know that.”
Chat Noir chews his bottom lip.
“Thanks, bugaboo.”
They fall into a comfortable silence, just peering down at the streets of their city. She wants to ask him more questions because it seems like there’s more he’s not telling her, but decides against it. She doesn’t expect him to tell her everything, especially since opening up that much was already hard enough for him (and she really shouldn’t have been able to figure out his identity because danger! but she supposes she’ll forgive him since he’s literally the love of her life and he needs someone to be there for him either way).
A small movement in the corner of her eye catches her attention. She looks in Chat’s direction, noting how he’s holding a hand over his left wrist. Her frown deepens. It’s not like she wants him to notice that she’s staring, but she can’t look away. Warily, she watches his face twist in pain.
“Does your wrist hurt, kitty?”
He startles, but shakes his head.
“It’s good.”
“But,” she challenges, “you’re holding it. Looks like it hurts…”
Chat Noir clenches his teeth, turning to look at his lady with fire in his eyes.
“I said it’s good, Ladybug. Leave it.”
Marinette flinches at the use of her superhero name instead of one of his usual nicknames for her. His tone is uncharacteristically harsh, as well.
“I’m sorry,” she whispers.
The last thing she wants to do is upset him more.
She clears her throat, at a loss for words. The atmosphere had suddenly turned tense and she wasn’t fully enjoying his presence anymore. Of course, he wasn’t dangerous or anything, but she really didn’t want him to snap at her again.
Ladybug likes a happy kitten, not a bitter one.
She wishes she knew what to do.
“Well,” Chat speaks. “I gotta head out; get back home before my father’s assistant notices I’m gone and I get taken out of school.”
He stands, getting ready to extend his baton and hop from building to building for as long as possible in order to procrastinate his return to the large, lonely mansion where he resides.
Ladybug hops up so quickly that her head spins, but she ignores it in hope of saying one last thing before he leaves.
“Hey, Chaton?”
Said cat boy looks in her direction, letting her know that he’s listening.
Instead of speaking, she just leans forward to press her lips onto his cheek. When she pulls away, she offers a smile.
“You and me against the world.”
He plasters a (fake) grin onto his face, “Thanks, bugaboo. See you later.”
Then he bolts away, leaving his Lady alone on a rooftop.
Life had gone on as normal for both Adrien and Marinette. For the next two weeks, the superhero pair had not spoken about Chat’s home life or his internal struggles. She wanted to give him some space and he simply wanted to forget that he even showed so much vulnerability around her.
Granted, Adrien didn’t care that she knew. In fact, he was pretty happy that she had been willing to listen. Usually she never allowed rants from the either of them because she knew that it was easy to slip up and say something that could lead an unwarranted identity reveal.
Marinette wanted to talk to him, come to a mutual agreement, and then officially tell each other who they were. She knew it was unfair that she knew and wasn’t telling him, but in all honesty, she wasn’t even sure her suspicions are right.
(She’s ninety-nine percent sure).
Her eyes had been on Adrien for those two weeks, subtly checking to make sure that there weren’t bags under his eyes (there were), that his smiles weren’t forced (they were), and that he was eating enough (she had no way of knowing, but he hadn’t asked for a macaron in a few days and she was starting to get worried).
He was doing somewhat alright, from what she could tell. She didn’t expect to see anything different today.
Boy, was she wrong.
She had been passing out papers to the class regarding their next class trip, explaining that they needed a parent signature, as well as forty-two Euros by next Monday, in order to attend. When she reached Adrien, she paused.
He was rubbing at his left wrist — the same wrist that Chat had been holding in pain that night two weeks ago. His face was contorted painfully; familiarly. This brought about her worries.
Subtly, she placed down the papers in front of him, to which he looked up at her and sent an oh so fake smile in thanks.
As she walked away, Marinette just barely caught a glimpse of some red, scratch-like marks on his skin as he picked the paper up.
Her heart dropped.
She hadn’t realized that him holding his wrist earlier was a sign of self-harm. Apparently he was worse off than she thought. Now, it’s a whole different ball game — one that can’t have secret identities interfering with. She has no choice; she needs to stay in contact with him.
He needs to be okay.
Marinette tried to wait until patrol that night. Really, she did. But she couldn’t resist zipping over to his house and knocking at his window right after his fencing practice had ended.
He jumps at the sound, quickly ushering Plagg to hide in his shirt, before turning around to look at the super-heroine.
“Hi, Ladybug!” He greets with a smile. “Anything I can help you with today?”
She takes that as an invitation to leap into his room, then she allows her yoyo to snap close as she lands in front of him.
Her hands stay in fists as she brings them up to rest at either side of her waist. She grins brightly in his direction.
“Hi, kitty!”
It’s almost comical how his smile drops.
“What?”
In lieu of a response, she drops her arms to rest at her side. Then she takes a few steps forward so that she’s standing much closer to him.
“Your father is strict… he has an assistant… he makes you take piano, fencing, Chinese lessons…”
His eyes widen slowly as she speaks, his heart beating erratically.
Ladybug scoffs, “Honestly, Adrien? You couldn’t have been more obvious.”
He gulps in horror.
Then he narrows his eyes.
“How did you know that Adrien Agreste takes Chinese lessons? I’ve never once mentioned that in an interview…”
She stiffens.
“Uh. B-because you told me before.”
He raises an eyebrow.
“As Chat,” she supplies.
The model scoffs, “I’m not Chat Noir.”
Ladybug shrugs, beginning to stroll around his room.
“Okay. So why did I see you rub your wrist in class today, hm?”
Now it’s Adrien’s turn to stiffen.
“Y-y-you’re in my class? What?” He asks incredulously.
“Yes. I’m the class president.”
She says it so confidently that it scares her. He’s sure to figure it out by now. She can’t look at him as he comes to the realization.
“But my class president is Marinette— wait.”
He huffs, smirking.
“Are you Marinette?”
Finally she casts her gaze in his direction.
“In the flesh.”
She watches as his eyes light up. He approaches her with a smile.
“Oh my god. Wait, then I’m totally okay admitting I’m Chat Noir.”
Her eyebrow raises, “Oh yeah? And if I was, say, Chloé… would you have admitted it?”
He immediately shakes his head.
Ladybug doesn’t even try to stifle her laugh.
“Spots off.”
Adrien watches in amazement as a magical, pink light engulfs her entire body, leaving Marinette Dupain-Cheng standing in his bedroom.
When she’s out of the Miraculous, the first thing Tikki does is call Plagg.
“Plagg, get out here! I need to talk to you!”
Plagg phases through Adrien’s over-shirt and glares at his counterpart.
“Well hello to you too, Sugarcube!”
The other side of the room is then occupied by two magical creatures, allowing for Adrien and Marinette to have some time alone.
An awkward tension fills the air for the first couple moments, as the two recently-outed superheroes stare at each other, letting everything sink in.
Adrien is the first to speak.
“Wow, uh… wow.”
Marinette only nods, unable to comment on his reaction as she is overflowing with concern.
“Adrien, we have to talk.”
His eyes dim and his lips curve downwards. He nods, hanging his head.
“Yeah,” he whispers, “we do.”
He leads her over to the couch and gestures for her to sit down. Then he gets situated right next to her, positioning his hands on his knees. Marinette takes a deep breath.
“So… I saw the scars in class today.”
She shifts her eyes to his left wrist, uncovered and visibly scarred. He follows her eyes, frowning when he meets their destination.
Adrien simply hums, staring at the abused skin but not saying a word.
“Why?” Marinette whispers.
He shrugs.
“I’m fine. It’s just… Chat Noir gives me freedom, but sometimes it’s not enough. I promise I don’t do it that often.”
“The amount of times you do it doesn’t matter, kitty, it’s the fact that you do.”
“What do you care anyway?” He scoffs. “You weren’t paying me much attention before I was in a sour mood that day.”
“I’ve always cared, Adrien. Always. Just because I’m super level-headed doesn’t mean that I don’t pay attention. I notice when you’re sad. I do. This time you were really worrying me, though, so I spoke up.”
Adrien rolls his eyes, “And it didn’t occur to you that maybe I wanted you to ask how I was feeling all those other times I was sad?”
She quiets at that.
“I mean, I understand that you don’t want to get in my way, but I appreciate people caring, Marinette. It means a lot to me. I feel like, if I never gave away too much information, you would still be assuming things about me. Things like, oh he’s okay because he’s loud and cocky and cracks jokes all the time — maybe it’s just a bad day.”
He shakes his head, allowing a bitter laugh to escape his raw throat.
“Every day is a bad day, Mari. I’m just a good fucking actor.”
Marinette soaks in every word like a sponge, letting each and every one hit her right where it hurts, because it’s true. He is a good actor; she’s not good at understanding the script.
I’m sorry, she wants to say. The words dance on the tip of her tongue.
Hes not finished, though.
“I want the world to suffer some days, you know? I want everyone to feel just as pressured and exploited as I have been for basically my entire life. I want all my friends with a good family to see what it’s like to live in this large mansion, with their father closed away in his room, never to be seen again by his own son who just wants him to say I love you.”
When had he started crying?
Well, the tears are flowing and he can’t stop the river now. Not when he has more to say.
“I have the power of destruction wrapped around my finger, Marinette.”
His lip trembles.
“You should be glad that I haven’t tried to Cataclysm any houses, or street lights, or cars, or busses, or-or-or—“
He breaks.
He meant to keep going — to finish his sentence — but he breaks.
There’s not much more that Marinette can do, other than pull him into her arms and whisper soothing words of reassurance as he sobs uncontrollably.
She rubs his back, softly shh-ing him as he lets it all out of his system. She allows him to drown for the time being, all while reassuring that she’ll be there to pull him back to shore.
Each one of his sniffles was a subtle reminder that she was there for him; that no matter if his father comes around to finally paying him some attention, or not, he will always have her shoulder to cry on. Simultaneously, though, her heart twists at how unhealthily he’s been dealing with the trauma.
She had heard stories upon stories of teenagers resorting to self-harm because they had no other outlet, and she had been so thankful that no one she knew had taken those measures. Now, a statistic has become personal. She would be lying if she said that she knew how to handle it.
But she knew that no matter the circumstance, it had to be dealt with.
That meant getting her crush some professional help. A therapist, some medication, and plenty of cuddles. (Cuddles arescientifically proven to relieve anxiety, right? It’s a professional technique).
A quiet sniffle breaks her out of her thoughts. She glances down at Adrien as he slightly pulls away from her hold, eyes red and puffy.
Maybe that can all be dealt with later.
She ruffles his hair.
“Let’s go get some ice cream, yeah?”
Adrien peers up at her in confusion.
She just smiles and wriggles out of their position on his couch, then stands up with her hands on her hips.
“Ice cream always cheers me up. We definitely have to talk more about this later, among other things, but I can’t bear to see you sad any longer. So let’s go!”
The left corner of his mouth perks up, albeit only for a mere second.
“My father—“
“To hell with you father,” Marinette reaches down to grab his hand and hoists him up from the couch.
“We are going to get ice cream whether he likes it or not. You need to do what makes YOU happy, ‘kay?”
He concedes.
After ice cream, they return to the bakery and consult with Tom and Sabine. It had taken a lot of convincing on Marinette’s part to get Adrien to agree, but from there began the journey of his recovery.
They explained his home situation and mental health struggles in full, only leaving out the part about them fighting akumas. Both adults had immediately started searching for a good therapist (and lawyer) that would help Adrien get on the right track.
In the end, Adrien was glad that they had told her parents. Their concern for him and dedication to his cause filled his heart with long lost hope and parental love. It had been so long since he felt cared for. And now that he’s felt it once again, he’s not ready to let it go.
Thank goodness the Dupain-Chengs’ weren’t going to let him go so easily.
It was a unanimous decision that, until he feels comfortable going back to the mansion, he would stay. He didn’t want to burden them, but they insisted. So he had no choice but to accept the offer.
Before he even knew it, another two weeks had passed. A new routine was broken in by the members of the D.C. household — Marinette was getting real annoyed with Adrien’s constant comparisons of her last name initials to Marvel (her father had taken a liking to his puns, however, so now she just lived in constant pain) — and suddenly it was like he had always been there.
His first therapy session wasn’t great. He was riddled with anxiety (no pun intended) and Doctor Benson was too nice for his liking. Well, it wasn’t that he didn’t like it. It was just so off-putting, considering he wasn’t used to being treated with such kindness even by his own father.
Doctor Benson told him that a lot of the things he’s been experiencing aren’t normal, but his response to that trauma is. At first he had been confused when he was told that his father was emotionally neglectful and verbally abusive. He didn’t understand what his father was doing wrong. Once Doctor Benson explained that, “Abuse is a violent, repetitive behavior that has a negative mental, emotional, and/or physical impact on the victim,” it became more clear.
It’s still a concept that he’s getting used to — that he’s a victim of abuse. The thought makes his skin crawl and a shiver run up his spine because he never considered himself to be part of a statistic. Now that he knows he is, he’s not sure what to do.
Marinette keeps telling him, “Even agreeing to go to therapy is a huge step in the right direction, and I’m so proud of you.” Then she goes on to tell him just how special he is to her and how important him and his life is and all of this crap about how he’s worth more than he thinks.
He has to believe her, too, because she’s the one that found him at his worst and instead of judging him, picked him off the ground and took initiative. She’s the one that brought him to her parents, helped him hide from his father, and even got him a part-time job at the bakery. It’s only temporary until he is able to access his earnings, but he will admit that he likes it way better than modeling; that had just been because his father wanted him to, anyways.
Everyone tells him time and time again that he should not be living for his father. He wants to disagree, because that’s what he’s been conditioned to do for so long, but he ultimately chooses not to. Because they’re right; he’s a young adult who should have the freedom to make his own decisions.
In the end, if he’s not happy, there’s always more opportunities. He knows that now.
And there’s no better way to figure out what he wants than to explore, and reach out for help.
A black cat and a ladybug sat atop a roof.
Marinette has her head tucked into the crook of her partner’s neck, eyes closed as she feels the wind blow past her. Adrien’s head lays on top of hers’ and eyes are trained on the full moon above them.
It had been a long day; one akuma attack and three tests, plus their friends wanted to hang out. Exhaustion had taken over hours before, and sleep was creeping up on them. They cherish the view of Paris at night while it lasts, before they have to go home and do it all again the next day.
When she lifts her head to look at her favorite kitty, she’s relieved to see a soft smile resting on his features.
“Whatcha thinking about?”
He glances at her before turning back to the stars, then hesitates.
“Can I tell you a riddle?”
Her face pales and stomach plummets.
“N-no, I don’t want to play this game again.”
“I promise its a good one, nothing too sad.”
They lock eyes. She can tell there is sincerity within those dark green orbs, so she reluctantly nods.
Adrien licks his lips, not breaking his gaze.
“I visit you every night, even if you don’t call me. I’m lost every day. What am I?”
Jokingly, she wants to say “Chat Noir” but their identities are known now, and she sees him every day (so, admittedly, it wouldn’t be that good of a joke). Then she looks up at the sky and she has her answer.
“The stars,” she whispers.
She’s not looking at him, but she can almost hear his smile widen. So she looks back to him, because she loves to see her kitty happy.
Sure enough, a grin — genuine, not forced — is playing on his lips. It’s human nature to copy social expressions, so she lets her mouth curve into a matching grin.
Then she leans in.
Their smiles fade as they inch closer, focused on the next task at hand. His gaze drops to her pink lips, and she stares into his eyes. She can see the thirst, the want, but she can also see his hesitance.
Experimentally, she pauses to see if he’ll close the gap, but he simply stops in accordance with her. She wants this so bad, but he’s very shy when it comes to romance; despite being so outwardly confident as Chat Noir.
He had told her that it was a mask to hide how scared he truly was. His advances towards her were genuine, although deep down, he was afraid of rejection (to which she will forever feel guilty for putting him through). He wanted to break his façade sometimes, but he chose not to for the sake of not worrying her. The media might have noticed his change in behavior, too; granted, he never cared what the public thought of him anyways.
So, to save them both the trouble, she takes the leap and closes the gap, capturing his lips in a fluid movement.
It’s pure ecstasy; electricity pulses through his veins, but at the same time… he’s calm. He’s not sure how to describe the feeling, in all honesty. It’s just perfect.
Well, not perfect, he corrects himself. Enjoyable, but not perfect.
They don’t move in perfect sync and his lips are chapped so she’s probably wondering why the heck are his lips so dry?and her mouth keeps opening and he isn’t sure if it’s a mistake or if he should do something but he’s not ready for the tongue yet, and so their heads are tilting at an awkward angle trying to make sense of the situation —
— but she smells like pastries and her lips are so soft and he can’t help but crack his eyes open because she is so beautiful in every single way oh my god I love her and nothing makes this better than cupping her face with his right hand and feeling just how smooth her skin is which calms him immensely and he just doesn’t want this to end.
When they finally pull away, with heavy breaths and big smiles, little giggles and red cheeks… he’s happy.
Maybe he’s not perfect. Neither is she. Nobody is, and Adrien is just starting to understand that.
Years of conditioning is hard to unlearn, but he is so grateful to have a support system he can count on. Marinette’s parents honorarily adopting him as one of their own, Doctor Benson offering coping mechanisms he hadn’t even known existed, his bodyguard protecting him from the  father  sperm donor he’s still afraid to talk to (one day soon, he’ll have to, but he’s planning on crossing that bridge when he gets there), Ms. Bustier’s unwavering faith in his abilities, and his friends’ insistence that he is more than enough — all of this support is overwhelming, to say the least, but he wouldn’t have it any other way.
Most importantly, there’s Marinette. She has been his rock for the past three years and it’s more true now than it ever was. She is family, in every sense of the word.
“Hey, Mari?” He says quietly, breaking the silence.
“Yes, Chaton?”
The nickname rolls off her tongue in a teasing manner, and he has to laugh.
“Thank you.”
“Always.”

Thoughts on Miraculous New York: United Heroez
Warning: Spoilers! I am back! Also, this is my 700th post, so yay!
The new intro is so cool! I stan! Will it be the same for the Miraculous World Specials (ie. Shanghai)??
Mr. Pigeon? Akumatized for the 51st tims?!?!?!?! I thought he moved on from pigeons and went with rats?!?! (Timetagger anyone????)
The Spacesuits! So cool! (By the way, its the purple potion).
Ladybug and Chat Noir are very autonomous, trust connected from their bond, and super efficient! (You will see where this comes into play later on.) Ladybug could have not gotten a better partner than Chat and she says this herself.
The rose scene after defeating Mr. Pigeon! I loved it so much and its better than expected!
Oh Marinette, didn't you say you have moved on from Adrien? I think her heart has yet to catch up with her brain, which takes time. Time will tell...
Tikki is visibly annoyed with Marinette saying she will move on and yet act like she still has a crush on Adrien. First of all, that is the fandom's mood. Second of all, be patient. Time will tell...
The sock puppet film was adorable. And apparently famous in NY amongst the Queens students (thank you Zag for including another NYC borough!)
Miss Bustier is pregnant?!?!? Wait...IS SHE IS MARRIED?!?!?!? Whether she is married or is seeing someone, this is still shocking (unless her prefix in the French version is Mrs.)
Poor Mrs. Mendeleiev. The class was less than satisfied with her being their chaperone. I know she is not the fun teacher, but she still has feelings and I know she is a nice person. People tend to judge and despise teachers based on them being fun or not, which is unfair. But karma comes after the class since throughout the trip, she becomes the teacher they think she is. What? She could have been fun.
Lila was not welcome in New York to begin with. At least she won't be causing any problems on the trip (though I wish she went to Antarctica).
Marinette has done more for Adrien in this episode than in all three seasons when she promised him that she will find a way to convince Gabriel to go to New York. I guess her deciding that he is "just a friend" has allowed her to do more for him than beforehand.
But she still collects pictures of him, so we will keep quotations on "friend". Or we need to give her a break (Alya I am looking at you). We'll see as we go on.
I am happy Nathalie is alive, though I am not happy with the fact that she showed Gabriel the Eagle Talon Miraculous. And he plans to go to New York. And that this is the only reason he lets Adrien go to NY.
Speaking of which, the Miracu-class showed up to his place, with Marinette being the spokesperson to yell at Gabriel Agreste's freaking face. Good for you Marinette for fighting against Gabriel. Though you did not have to put up a long fight, which while shocking, is also worrisome.
Adrien was understandably sad to not be able to go to NY. Kagami seems happy about it though. Maybe too happy...
Yes, I know that Kagami and Adrien are potentially dating (Battle of the Miraculous ending anyone? *sobs in Adrienette stan*), but it still pains my Adrienette stan heart though when she kissed him.
Of course Chat Noir will be sad to see Ladybug go. But she brings this cute cat buzzer and seeing him play with the buzzer was adorable. Ladynoir anyone?
Adrien is stuck with this dilemma: NY or Ladybug? Poor sunshine boy was shocked to hear this news. He initially chose Ladybug and wanted to stay and alert Ladybug about the new situation, but Plagg was like "FREEDOM! GO AFTER IT! BESIDES, YOU CAN USE YOUR SPACESUIT TO RETURN TO PARIS IN THE EVENT OF AN AKUMA!" Seemed like a good plan...initially. (Plagg, I am after you...sorta).
Of course Marinette will miss the bus, but Luka?!?! They either trying to remind me of Miracle Queen or Luka is superhuman for being able to show up to her place and peddle so fast that they caught up with the bus. Pains my Adrienette heart once again to see her kiss him, but he does have a point about her needing some clarity in NY.
Then we have the plane scene. Poor Marinette was panicking over sitting next to Adrien (really now universe?!). There was more to the scene: from the AC trouble to the seat reclining at the wrong time to Adrien placing the luggage in the compartment (not in that order exactly). It was somewhat cringeworthy then seeing that Marinette went to swap seats with Mrs. Mendeleive (though she only did it when Alix whined).
Note to self: DO NOT SIT NEXT TO MR. DAMOCLES IN AN EIGHT HOUR FLIGHT. He is not very conscious about personal space as he took over Marinette's seat when he was asleep and woke Marinette up. And sleeping with a bucket of popcorn? Really?
If anyone has ever been on a plane, turbulence is common, and Marinette's experience with the Bathroom is very relatable. That's why I only go in an emergency.
Adrienette watching a sunrise! (Or sunset? They are not too clear on this, especially since they arrive at the hotel at night, but everyone was asleep on the plane). And get this: Adrien complimenting Marinette and hugging her tightly! (Just a friend now, huh sunshine boy?)
Alya and Nino are a mood when they say that they love their friends, but they wish that they could express their love to each other (Operation: New York).
Alya, did you really have to tell Marinette that NY is the city of love? Thank you for making her feel even nervous.
TechnoPirate and the United Heroez everyone! (By the way, Alya needs a chill pill because she was WAY too excited to be rescued by the United Heroez. And the Owl Mr. Damocles? Really?!)
Note to everyone who does not live in NYC: no, there is not a superhero for every job.
Ladybug and Chat Noir are exceptional superheroes, but Marinette and Adrien cannot open or walk through automatic doors, which is funny and kind of sad. Peoples, your saviors of Paris.
Sabrina has her own story peoples! She is given her own love interest from Astoria! I love them! And how he invited her to the rooftop party.
Alya, do you really have to tease her and Marinette at once. "Maybe you will make a "friend""
Aeon, I agree: Marinette and Adrien are made for each other. But you sound like Master Fu in Stoneheart. Are you secretly Master Fu???
The feeling is mutual Chloé. Marinette and Alya do not want to be your roommate as much as you don't want them to be yours. And I know you do not want to be there in the first place (my city is beautiful btw). But I am happy you did not rat them out for going to the rooftop party.
When they hid from Mrs. Mendeleive, Marinette and Adrien ended up in Jess(Sparrow) and Aeon(Uncanny Valley)'s room.
Magic hotdogs!
Remember the Hotdog Scene I posted over a week ago? That really was Adrienette and it was better than before, with them floating up and dancing to the song from Despair Bear! Yes! Best scene so far!
Doorman! I want him to be my college professor!
Okay, I know I am desperate to see Marinette and Adrien get together, but really Alya, Nino, Jess, and Aeon? Put them in DANGER?!?!? I cannot.
So Marinette and Adrien are put in danger and actual danger. Danger: Jess and Aeon simulating a dangerous situation. Actual Danger: Hawkmoth in New York having akumatized TechnoPirate and make him break into the museum to get the Eagle Talon. Oof.
Then where my Ladynoir heart wears off: Ladybug and Chat Noir seeing each other in NYC to save their civilian selves. They have seen Paris being destroyed by a sentimonster, with Chat supposed to be there and call Ladybug.
Uncanny Valley and Sparrow see Ladybug and Chat Noir in action and decide to be like them because they do not have that same freedom. Look, I feel them, but I still think they should have called for the United Heroez. Plus, cool transformations!
Remember the whole thing about "autonomous, trust formed by their bond, and super-efficiency"? Yeah, that was Sparrow saying that. But Ladybug and Chat Noir are now currently lacking the last two because of the whole "Chat you are supposed to be in Paris" ordeal. Well, you are generally right Sparrow, but now they have their own issues.
Of course, the new lack of trust (and Ladybug making her anger verbal) has affected their ability to fight TechnoPirate inefficient. So much Chat cannot defend himself and while trying to free himself...
HE CATACLYSMED UNCANNY VALLEY!!! This took a dark turn as this is the first time he cataclysmed a "person" (though she is an android, but still a person by standards. I mean Majestia was understandably very upset and I get it).
Majestia punching TechnoPirate into multiple NY buildings: woah.
Ladybug manages to fix everything, but two problems arise:
1. Knightowl wanted to take away their Miraculous and reveal their secret identities. They are now somewhat fugitives in their eyes for almost killing Uncanny Valley.
2. We see the limitations of Miraculous Ladybug. While Ladybug repaired NY, she was unable to repair Paris and the damage caused by the Robostus sentimonster. Which not only indicates that the Miraculous Ladybug cure only repairs the damage created by a specific villan, but that they have to be present. Here, there were too late.
Here is where my Ladynoir heart shatters: 1. Marinette sobs over how she was unable to repair Paris and felt horrible about how she failed them, and 2. Adrien renounced Plagg because of what happened to Uncanny Valley AND for disappointing Ladybug. Then, he runs off and Marinette sobs over losing Chat Noir. It was very sad that I wanted to cry.
I know this part is still very sad, but can I say that Tikki and Plagg are cute together in Marinette's purse? Poor timing? Moving on.
Aeon and Jess are disciplined by Majestia and Knightowl for disobeying their orders and for straying from their mission: protect the French class.
Are Majestia and Knightowl together in their civilian life? And Aeon and Jess are sisters?!?! I stan.
Here's the thing: I like how the special stayed true to this part of the Miraculous Comics. There, we find that Knightowl is a woman (which you can find out from this scene or at the end). And i just stan her relationship with Majestia.
Also, how dare the writers forget the Miraculous Comics! Sure, they might be different entities, but still: how dare they let the United Heroez forget about the power of the Miraculous Cure! I know that Chat Noir should be more careful about his cataclysm and Majestia has a right to be upset, but still: they had a deadly plan set in the comics to defeat a villan and called on Ladybug to cure the millions of dollars in damage. But hey, to each their own.
Also, somewhat unrelated, but Julerose appeared in the beginning and I am here for it!
Gabriel kidnapped TechnoPirate and akumatized him again while giving him the Eagle claw jewel to liberate people from their fears or other factors. Oof.
The kwami for the Eagle Miraculous is relatable. We would all wish we had our previous owner and fear about our power going into evil hands, right?
Now back to Adrien and Marinette, my heart breaks to see Adrien having to go back to Paris because Gabriel delcares NY as "too dangerous". YOU ARE THE FREAKING DANGER THOUGH! YOU MADE TECHNOPIRATE DANGEROUS AND RELEASED HIM FROM DANGER!
Marinette decides to go after him, but falls over from the bike she borrowed due to the rainwater as she begs him to stay.
And peoples, the moment we waited for three seasons (sorta): Marinette finally utters the words "I love you" when referring to Adrien. Too bad he got too far for him to hear her.
Also, who was going to get her off the road when she broke down? Is that her form of closure?
The United Heroez are now under the Liberty Eagle Miraculous' influence, which made them go haywire. Huh. So Jess and Aeon now have to save them with the help of the French Superheroes!
So Aeon was able to uncover that TechnoPirate is akumatized and using a Miraculous through her scanners. I stan her!
Also, she was able to recognize Marinette is Ladybug and Adrien is Chat Noir. And we have a reason to explain why everyone is blind: there is a quantum mechanism in the suits that makes them unrecognizable when compared to their civilian form in the eyes of humans. She can only figure out their identities since she is an AI android. So our theory about everyone having a reason to be blind is correct AND we can cut everyone else some slack. Please.
Marinette confessed that she needs Chat Noir. This was what we wanted to hear after all that has happened: what she said in the beginning, but now in the most genuine form. I have no words other than that this is heartwarming and heartbreaking.
Adrien was worried over Ladybug's disappointment, but Uncanny Valley is amazing in the sense that she recorded Marinette's genuine words, which inspired him to come back.
Plagg, you literally make light of everything. He literally made faces in front of Uncanny Valley because she can't see him. I can't.
Ladybug and Chat Noir's reunion healed and broke me. It was so emotional as Ladybug expresses how worried she was and how she missed him and Chat explaining while admitting his mistakes.
Time to take down TechnoPirate while using Doorman's powers to take the Eagle Talon and freeing everyone. The fight scenes are epic per usual, this one especially.
TechnoPirate counting down the time was alarming, but also funny as he makes light of it.
Hawkmoth, you would have been to blame for the World War III because of your ultimatum, not Ladybug and Chat Noir.
They missed the countdown, but Majestia stops the rocket and sends it to the sun. What the hell?! What if the sun exploded?!?!?!?! (I dunno? It was an atomic bomb for starters?)
So TechnoPirate is defeated and the United Heroez apologize for misjudging our Parisian superheroes and decide to no longer treat their children like kids.
So Paris for the first time in forever needs to undergo actual reconstruction, but Nadja is somewhat forgiving as she mentions that they needed to help the United Heroez and save NYC, where Hawkmoth also was. Hope there are no hard feelings?
Marinette had the idea of having the banner saying hello to Adrien, which he watched on the plane. So nice of Marinette the class to do such a nice thing for him.
Chloé, we might have somewhat forgotten that whole Miracle Queen stunt, but I am glad to see you enjoyed NY even if you will not admit it.
There are more Miraculous around the world. At the end, we need to fear Hawkmoth. Also, there are more Miraculous guardians and I am glad to see Jess convince one of the Guardians to create a new team of next generation superheroes
Overall, the New York special did not disappoint. We got Adrienette and Ladynoir (even if we know that Lukanette and Adrigami are also a potential reality, though good news for the shippers). We also saw the New York superheroes. Though there are some points that really surprised me (ie. The Ladynoir trust fight and Uncanny Valley dying temporarily and Paris being destroyed), I enjoyed watching the special.
I am worried about the Love Square, especially with Marinette though, but that is for another post. To sum up, we know what happens in NY stays in NY, but since the season 4 synopsis mentions Marinette struggling to find time to tell Adrien her feelings, I think that the Love Square is not 100% dead, but I am not too sure. Oh well, let's leave that for tomorrow.
I stayed up for another hour or so, so I will sign off. In the meantime, go ahead and watch it on an Instagram Page or on Disney Channel or wherever you can watch the special because I will tell you this: you will not regret it! (I watched it twice and will watch it again tomorrow!)

Change
So I was going through my wips and I found notes for this LadyNoir-centric fic I was planning to write once upon a time. Its main premise was completely negated by season 2, but I still really like the idea, so I wanted to share it with y’all! Enjoy <3
After finishing lycée, Marinette ends up going abroad to study fashion. The night before she leaves, she goes on patrol for the last time and finally tells Chat Noir she’s leaving. He does his best to be happy for her, but Ladybug can see the heartbreak in his eyes.
“I will gladly await your return, my lady,” he says, pressing a kiss to her knuckles. The gesture is so silly and she’s been rejecting it since the first day, but she knows she’ll miss it.
“I’m going to be gone for four years at least, Chat Noir.”
He smiles warmly at her, and she doesn’t think she’s ever seen such a genuine expression on his face. “You’re worth the wait.”
And so, she leaves. She keeps contact with Alya, but aside from that, she really falls out of touch with Paris in general. Most of her knowledge of what goes on comes from news that’s big enough to reach international coverage, and even then, she hardly ever tunes in.
Some months after she leaves, she sees clips on the news of a new hero that’s been named. She’s skeptic at first, because the new hero looks like Volpina, but after a couple months or so, she has to accept that Rena Rouge is real.
Sometime later, another one appears who calls herself Queen Bee. From what she sees on the news, she’s kind of glad she isn’t there working with this one. Chat Noir seems to get along with her well enough though and that’s good.
It’s been a couple years and she hasn’t been paying close attention, so when she hears about Carapace, she’s not even sure how long he’s been around. She’s surprised though, because he’s got the turtle miraculous—Master Fu’s miraculous. She calls him up in a panic, fearing the worst, and is relieved to learn that Master Fu is alive and well; he’s just training the new holder to be the next guardian.
Six years have passed when she finally makes her way back to Paris. After four years of university and two years of an internship, she’s finally ready to go back home and start up a life of her own.
Alya is different—older, more mature—but in some ways, she hasn’t changed a bit. She still runs the Ladyblog (she refuses to change the name, even if Ladybug hasn’t appeared for years), and she’s all too happy to spew everything she knows about the new heroes when Marinette asks. She’s especially proud of an exclusive interview she got with Carapace.
Watching the video on Alya’s phone, Marinette remarks that it looks like she could have a superhero boyfriend if she ever left Nino. To her surprise, Alya smiles with a certain spark in her eyes as she gazes at the screen and says, “He is cute, isn’t he?”
They’re out walking around on a nice day during her first week back when Marinette sees Chloé. She’s a fair distance away—thank goodness—and in the back of her mind, she thinks it strange that Chloé would just be casually hanging out in a public park, but that isn’t what strikes her. What strikes her is the completely genuine laughter Chloé seems to be sharing with the man whose arm is slung over her shoulders. The man with unmistakable red hair.
“That’s a thing?” she asks, unable to tear her eyes away. Alya follows her gaze just in time to see Chloé shove her cone of ice cream into Nathaniel’s face.
She laughs and Marinette is surprised by the lack of disgust or sarcasm or anything like that in her voice when she replies, “Yeah, that’s been a thing for a few years now.”
Years?
Nathaniel leans forward and starts trying to rub the ice cream off on Chloé’s face. Marinette can hear their laughter from here.
Her confusion must read loud and clear because Alya gives her an almost pitiful look. “You’ve been gone a long time, girl. Things change.”
That’s certainly true when she sees Chat Noir for the first time. She’s been seeing pictures of him this whole time of course—she knew he got taller, buffer, grew out his hair—but the cameras didn’t prepare her for this.
He’s still her Chat Noir though, she thinks, because when his eyes finally find her, there is absolutely nothing different in that stupid grin of his.
Except maybe the way it stirs in her stomach.
Ladybug finds herself so unexpectedly relieved to just sit on the Eifel tower and talk with him for hours on end. Being with him was always easy, and she’s so very thankful that that isn’t one of the things that’s changed.
Then the others show up.
Rena Rouge and Queen Bee are almost annoying in how excited they are to meet her. It’s been a long time since she’s had to put on a polite smile for fans, and she really wasn’t expecting to have to do that with other heroes. At least Queen Bee isn’t as obnoxious as she seemed back when she first appeared.
Carapace is a lot easier to interact with, though it’s a little unsettling how he seems to see right through her. He’s got that same insightful gaze that Master Fu has and she doesn’t know how, but she’s absolutely positive that he already knows her identity by the time he shakes her hand.
She soon mentally retracts her earlier statement to Alya, because it’s clear that Carapace only has eyes for Rena Rouge, and her him. It’s sweet how they look at each other, but at the same time, she can’t imagine dating someone who she didn’t know outside of a mask. She thinks that would be endlessly frustrating.
It doesn’t take long at all for Ladybug to start feeling like a fifth wheel—like, minutes. The others have their own established dynamic that she’s not a part of. And…they all seem so close. Way more close than she and Chat Noir ever were. They speak and joke with such ease, almost as if…as if they’re all best friends.
Toward the end of the night, Queen Bee is gearing up to leave when she points back at Chat Noir. “Remember, 8 o’clock. Sharp. Don’t keep us waiting again or we will leave without you.”
He rolls his eyes with an easy smile. “Your threats don’t work on me, Bee. I know he’s nice enough not to ditch me.”
“Yeah, yeah, just don’t be late.”
“I won’t. I’ll see you tonight.”
Then it’s just her and Chat Noir. “Tonight?” she asks.
“Yeah, I have dinner plans with her and her boyfriend.”
She’s confused for a few seconds—trying to wrap her mind around this image of two superheroes and a civilian just casually eating in a sit down restaurant out in public—when she finally understands.
“Oh my god,” she whispers, eyes wide. “You know each other’s identities.”
That easy smile fades from his lips and he just watches her with this almost sad understanding. “Yes,” he says quietly. “We all do.”
“All of you?” His eyes dart away from hers, almost as if flinching, and she hates how disappointed but unsurprised he looks.
“Yeah. All of us.”
She’s shocked, to say the least, but even worse, she feels almost betrayed. And she hates that feeling because she knows it doesn’t make sense. She knows she was the one who insisted they keep their identities a secret. Of course he shared his identity with these new heroes.
“It’s safe, you know,” he says quietly. He tentatively brings his eyes back to hers and she’s so very frightened by the unspoken plea swimming behind them. “We’ve known for years now. If anything, it’s made us more cohesive as a team. And it makes communication a lot easier. Plus if we’re ever stuck somewhere as a civilian, we can help each other out. Like this one time—,”
“Stop.”
He does.
She has to look away from that hurt in his eyes. It’s too calm, too long-standing of a hurt.
She can’t handle this right now. She feels like the ground under her feet has been stolen. “I have to go.”
He doesn’t stop her.
Things from then on are weird, to say the least. She feels out of place fighting alongside this team. An outsider. They’re all nice enough, and they seem enthusiastic to work with her. But they don’t know her. They know each other.
Queen Bee and Rena Rouge don’t understand why she won’t just reveal her identity.
“What’s the big deal?” Queen Bee asks. “It’s not like you’re some wanted criminal or something.”
“I bet you’re totally cool as a civilian!” Rena Rouge says.
Carapace assures her it’s safe, but he doesn’t push it. And Chat Noir just closes up whenever the topic comes up.
It’s just the two of them watching the sunset from the top of the Eifel Tower one night when she asks the question that’s been on her mind for months. “How’d it happen?”
He smiles fondly. “Queen Bee figured me out less than a week after she started.”
“You knew her?”
He nods. “We were best friends.”
The thought seems so foreign to her. She knew Chat Noir was around her age, but she had never considered him possibly being part of her civilian life.
“We didn’t tell the others that we knew for a while,” he continues. “But after it saved us from more than a few close calls, we decided it might be a good idea if everyone knew each other.”
“And the others? Did you know them?”
“Yep. We were already friends.” He laughs lightly. “And I can’t even describe the relief on Carapace and Rena’s faces when they realized they were already dating each other.”
Ladybug feels a pit drop in her stomach. As if she didn’t already feel like enough of an outsider, all of them were already friends as civilians before this even happened. What about her? What if she didn’t even know them? Or worse, what if…
“What if I tell you who I am and it turns out that you hate me?” Her body feels like it’s shaking under her skin, finally admitting her fear out loud. She can feel Chat Noir’s gaze on her, but she keeps her eyes on the horizon.
“I don’t.”
“You don’t know that.”
“I do know that. Because I don’t hate anyone.” She looks at him then with a frown that asks him to take this seriously. His expression melts into a gentle smile. “Even if I hate you as a civilian—which I don’t—then…” he shrugs, “I’m wrong.”
He hasn’t flirted with her in that obnoxious way he used to since she returned, but looking back and forth between those green eyes in that moment, she knows he kept to his word.
“You really did wait, didn’t you?” she asks.
“I meant it when I said you were worth it.”
“And you still think that’s true? When I won’t even tell you who I am?”
He doesn’t hesitate. “I do.”
Ladybug has to swallow down a lump in her throat. She looks out at the sunset again, unable to handle the heavy weight of that loving green.
“I’ll tell you someday,” she finally whispers as the sun disappears below the horizon. “I’m not ready yet. But I will be.”
She looks up again as he takes her hand and presses a delicate kiss to her knuckles. “I will gladly await that day, my lady.”
Ladybug smiles. She was right; she did miss that.

Ladynoir Month: Lost
@ladynoirjuly2019
Ao3  FFN
Get some ready for some fluffy angst! Hehehe…
Before Chat knew it, two months flew by, and autumn was sneaking up faster than Plagg pouncing on his cheese.
It would've been okay, too, if not for the week that was coming up. The week of his mother's disappearance. The week his father sheltered himself even further away. Chat knew he wouldn't hear a word from the older man until after the week was up. It was just how it was.
Tonight, he and Ladybug didn't have patrol, but it was one of those times where he just needed to get out. To breathe some fresh air and feel the cool kiss of autumn on his skin. It felt far too stuffy in the oversized mansion.
Plagg had been munching on some cheese he had gotten earlier, when he noticed Adrien's mile long stare. The little cat sighed and rolled his eyes. "C'mon, kid. Let's go for a run."
Plagg knew how he felt around this time of the year. He knew Adrien needed to break free for a while. Transforming, he took to the rooftops, jumping from house to house, taking in the rush that running free brought him.
When his body begged him to slow and stop for a break, he immediately listened to it. As he bent over, panting, he tried to figure out exactly where he was, but couldn't figure out his location at that moment, so he decided to rest his legs, taking a seat on the metal tin roof.
Knowing if he didn't keep his thoughts occupied, they would drift to his mother, and possibly his father, so he decided on thinking of Ladybug instead. That always brought tired thoughts a little more pep to them.
They had started to grow closer over the months, letting her guard drop, and so had he. It was becoming exponentially easier to tease her, though he learned to back off a little during battle— he found that she wasn't eager to flirt when they were trying to take down the bad guys, but she definitely resceipcated his advances when they were done with the job.
And if he was being completely honest, that scared the life out of him, at least at first. Because never in a million years did he think it would work. And now that he was so close, in the beginning, he wasn't sure what to do with that. He had the girl of his dream right there, and all he knew really, was how to flirt, and big romantic gestures that he got from anime's and let me tell you Fullmetal, eh, doesn't exactly have the most emotionally healthy characters.
Long story short, he knew nothing about the other stuff with trying to woo a girl and be in a relationship— though they weren't in one yet.
But then, as the weeks passed, he did learn. He watched, he listened, and he paid attention. Ladybug wasn't a fan on big, flirty romantic gestures like some of his shows said. No, she liked the sincerity in actions. Small things that showed he cared. Promises that he kept, and actions that showed truth to his words.
If that didn't make him fall even more in love with her, he didn't know what would.
He didn't need to try to be something he wasn't. He was Adrien and Chat all rolled into one and for one of the first times since becoming Chat, he could show it. And she seemed to like it.
It was so refreshing, it was so new, it was so-
"Boo."
He nearly fell off the roof as the person from behind surprised him, but thankfully his back caught him. He could hear her triumphant laughter at the sight of her scaring him. He groaned and shifted around to get back onto his butt to glare at her, but it was pointless as she was on her back, arms hugging her stomach as she shook with uncontrollable laughter.
"I-I'm sorry." She wheezed out through short breaths. "B-But that was just too fun."
He pouted and turn his back to her, ignoring her bouts of laughter.
"Oh, c'mon, Chaton." Her voice was sugary sweet with a tease, and he almost caved right there and then.
But, he wouldn't. No.
"Please?"
Darn it. She knew just where to hit.
Sighing in defeat, he turned to look at her, and saw the victory in her eyes. Knowing she had won, she took her rightful seat next to him, and plopped down, thigh to thigh, leaving no space in between.
She had been doing that a lot these days. He couldn't really complain.
She nudged his shoulder as to start the conversation. "So, what brought you out here so late at night? We didn't have any patrols planned."
His happy mood diminished some. But not too much, because she was there, and as long as he had her, he was okay. He gave her a lopsided shrug. "I don't know. Just one of those weeks, I guess."
He could feel her head lean onto his shoulder. Physical contact was so nice. "You can tell me. I'm here for you."
He could hear the trust me in her voice. He trusted her, undoubtedly so. "It's the week of when me and my family lost someone close, and when it gets to this time, my dad always shuts down even more than usual. I just feel more alone."
Her voice was low, quiet when she asked, "Do you wanna talk about this person?"
He almost said no, almost refused, but something inside him was screaming to let it out. To let her in. He didn't talk about his mother much. He didn't have a lot of people to talk to about her. So, what was the harm? If he could trust anyone in their world, it was her.
So, he spilled everything. He bore his heart to her and told her everything about his mother that he could. From her personality, to the thousands of stories that he had of her, everything she was. He talked about her for hours.
And Ladybug listened. To every single word, and commented on how cute the two seemed together, that she was a lovely woman, how she could tell they were close.
It meant the world to him to be able to release that stress, and get everything out that had been bottled up for so long.
"And that was why, she never liked for me to be alone when I was sad, because she knew my mind could run away with me." He finished lamely.
Ladybug waited for him to finish his story before asking, "So what are you doing out here then?"
His head tilted in wonder as he really thought over her question. "Guess I'm just getting lost. What were you doing out here by the way? It's not a scheduled night."
She gave a shrug of her own. "I'm not sure. Something was telling me to go out, to go for a run. If I'm being completely honest, it felt like I was… looking for something." She lifted her head off of his shoulder, eyes twinkling in delight "Guess I found you, huh?"
He smiled. "Yeah, bug." He breathed. "I guess you did."
--------------------------
It was two days later, and one day before the official two years since she had been gone— they had a scheduled patrol just the night prior, so none tonight. His father had yelled at him because he hadn't gotten the photos right, saying that Adrien had looked too tired, and there was no way they could put those pictures on the market.
It reached the point of his father even threating to pull him from school. That had made him downright sick. He… he couldn't lose school. He just couldn't. He needed the interaction. He needed his friends.
It was one of the few acts of freedom he had left, he begged, pleaded, promised he'd do anything to make sure his next shoot would be absolutely perfect.
His father agreed, and it helped calm him, but not enough to the point where his body still felt heavy and his mind was nothing but a static picture on replay. He just couldn't shut it off. He felt like he was going crazy with all of this.
But then, she appeared, and he knew that not everything was hopeless. The world around them seemed to melt away.
"You needing to be lost again?"
He smiled softly, turning to meet her gaze. "Not with you here. I wouldn't mind being found at the moment."
She giggled, with her hands on her hips, and looked out into the hustle and bustle of late night bystanders. "Different rooftop." She noted.
He leaned back, hands supporting his weight as his tail swished in the air. "And you knew where I was. I'm starting to think you're using your GPS tracker."
Ladybug bounced over to him, crouching down until she was seated on her knees underneath her. "Sorry to disappoint you, but nope." She tapped her nose. "Just needed to get out."
But the way she said it, he could tell that wasn't the truth. Not with the way her eyes were going over him in worry every few seconds— even though she was trying to hide it— the way she kept biting at her lip as if she was dying to ask him what was going on in his head, but not wanting to pry too much.
He huffed, figuring it was just best to give into her. Eventually, she would've turned on cute buggy mode, as he deemed it, where she made her eyes big and gleaming with her lips in an adorable pout that he just wanted to kiss away-
No, bad thoughts. Not yet. "Do you ever feel like you're not enough for someone?"
She blinked. Once, twice. Her face concentrating on finding the right words to answer him with. When she did, he could tell she was speaking from the heart. "Yeah. And I think...we all go through that at times, you know? We're only human. It's natural to have insecurities about things throughout life."
He nodded. "I know. Just… my father. The moment I do one little thing wrong, he threatens to take away my freedom in any way he can. Heck, if he knew about me being Chat, you'd have to find yourself a new partner for sure."
With his head hung in shame of his father's deeds, he was taken by surprise when she wrapped her arms around him, brushing her nose against his cheek. "Guess I should be thankful for secret identities then, huh? 'Cause I wouldn't be half the Ladybug that I am without you, kitty. And don't you forget it."
His shoulders released the tension they held, and he gave in to the temptation of slipping his own arms around her waist. "How can I forget when I have a beautiful lady that reminds every time standing right here by my side." He sighed in content as he relished the attention she gave. "I wouldn't be half the Chat Noir without you either, bugaboo."
"And that's what makes this all worth it in the end, right kitty?"
"I couldn't agree more, m'lady. I couldn't agree more."
------------------------
Today had been the worse one yet. It was the official anniversary, and he just wanted to hide away from the world. He even turned of his tracker, just in case. He hated today, no thought about it. He hated that his father didn't care. He hated that his mother was just gone.
He hated that he had to act like he was okay, that he was here, all the time. Especially times when he wasn't. He was tired, and just…just wanted someone to understand that he all he wanted was wanted to be needed.
Maybe to be found. To be okay again.
But he wasn't sure how to. He wasn't even sure how to ask and that was more evident on this day.
The second it hit midnight, Plagg told him to transform and to just go. Go get some air, go run, go let his mind rest. But it wasn't at rest. Not today. Not this even this week. It was too hard.
He found a rooftop with a chimney, and pressed his back to it, sliding along it until his butt hit the tin of the roof, and everything just burst from him. Everything that had been bottled up. With his father, with his mother, and everything else.
Hot tears ran down his face, and soaked his suit, but he didn't pay it much mind. Everything was unraveling, and it felt good, even if he didn't. He buried his head into his arms on his scrunched up knees he had cramped against his chest. His body shook to the point of where it hurt, but it was something at least.
He didn't think he could even feel anything on this day. It was overwhelming, and showed no sign of slowing down.
And in that moment he felt truly, and utterly lost.
"Kitty?"
His head snapped up at the familiar voice, and his heart thumped, because of course, she would be there. She would know. Even with his tracker off.
Ladybug stood there, motionless, eyes almost starting to mirror his— maybe she had a rough day at school, maybe she saw him and it caused her own tears, he didn't know— and she was almost reaching out to him in concern.
"He-hey, bugaboo. How...hows it going?"
He didn't even get an answer, instead what he saw was a flash and then she was over in front of him, kneeling down, and all he saw was blue before her lips came down on his, almost smashing against his, hard, fast, and everything from her pouring into it.
He couldn't respond at first, too deep in shock to even comprehend what was going on.
But he realized just as she was about to pull away, muttering, "I'm sorry, I shouldn't-"
He didn't let her finish that sentence, why would he? She had nothing to be sorry for.
He cupped the back of her head and brought her lips back to his and deepened it even further than she had, making sure to tilted his head to the side just slightly to capture her lips better, to finally kiss her with the passion that he had wanted to for so long, along with the furocity that had only come up in his dreams, nibbling on her bottom lip over and over again until he was sure it was swollen and knew she would be breathless when they pulled back.
His dreams couldn't compare
She tasted like strawberries, chocolate, and the vanilla scent that he smelled on her so much. It was becoming increasing addicting and he didn't care. Didn't want a cure. It felt like he was drowning in her, in her lips, in her eyes, in her intoxicating smell and it was the best feeling in his life. He never wanted to stop. It was pure bliss.
Paradise had nothing on her.
After what felt like an eternity, and only a second wrapped into one, they pulled back, just enough to the point where their lips were hardly touching, panting and breathless, but he found that neither of them could be brought to care.
She smiled, and he knew she happy seeing him okay again. Her voice was breathless, but it carried enough with how close they were. "Found you." His nose wrinkled as she booped it.
He laughed, airless, but free. "Don't you always?"
And because of her, he knew he would never truly be lost again.
In the end, they would always find their way back home.
-----------------------------------
Husband note:
Upon hearing Ladybug's presence Adrein looked up, but it was too late as he saw a flash.
"Anata wa sudeni aisa rete imasu."
Adrein couldn't let out a breath before a single "Nani!?" escaped his lips.
*boom!* The Passion of a Ladybug.
Yeah Adrien isn't the only one who watches too much anime.
I don't know him, if anyone asks. I hope ya'll enjoy. Lots of love!

Now that every episode of S3 has aired, I’m going to be watching Heart Hunter/Loveater and Miracle Queen. And so, I present to you, my thoughts on Battle of The Miraculous:
Ahem,
I WAS LITERALLY IN THE PROCESS OF WRITING MY THOUGHTS ON HEART HUNTER BUT MY LAPTOP SHUT DOWN AND DECIDED TO UPDATE
Which was super annoying, cause I was halfway through the episode. But I’ve managed to remember most of it
Anyway, that was annoying, but I still remember what I wrote:
- Marinette narrating in the beginning about loss, was honestly a big oof, since I know what happens in these two episodes
- Ugh, Cat was being petty about making LB jealous for sure
- Luka and LUKANETTE WAS SO CUTE I’M-- I love him so much, and I love them. They’re the light of my life right now. (also when he finishes Marinette’s melody, it’s totally going to be the theme of the show) THE BIKE RIDING AND CHEEK KISS WAS CUTE TOO
- Heart Hunter’s design is bad (Gabriel also totally gave them that cloak so they’d get pissed at each other)
- Adrigaminette rights!!!
- Adrien has a crush on both Ladybug, Kagami and Marinette, change my mind (He was smitten when he saw her with her hair out, like seriously) Rip to him scrolling through LB’s photos too, I felt bad but I had to laugh
- Kagami watching Adrien play piano is the softest shit, I died (Kagami and Adrigami in general is great in this episode)
- Also I freaked out when Adrien was grabbing Mari’s hand, and just hers. Like boy stop denying your feelings.
- Andre didn’t say poly rights but he did say Kagaminette rights
And now, back to where I left off in the episode:
- MARI’S GETTING SAD ABOUT THEM-
- ooof now things be getting intense, Hawkmoth’s figured out that she goes to Fu whenever she’s stuck
- RIP she saw Adrigami in action
- uh oh... she didn’t de-transform
- NO don’t choose Kagami, ffs this is like what happened in Desperada, don’t let your personal agenda interfere!
- Okay but Hawkmoth standing in front of the merry-go-round window is kinda funny
- POCKY GAME ADRIGAMI- oh never mind it’s just a kiss anyway
- Ladybug just straight up kidnapped her. Anyway we got some Ladygami/Kagamibug because she was carrying her :3
- I like how Mari was actually making her voice a little deeper to conceal herself... I’ve noticed that she does that in this season more often (her voice does change slightly when she’s LB, but not like what she used to sound like in S1)
- ARE WE GETTING A RYUUKO TRANSFORMATION SEQUENCE OR WHAT? Like, a full one. PLEASE.
- NOOO we didn’t get one aghh
- YES BITCH, Jade Turtle let’s goo
- I am actually really enjoying this battle
- Lmaoo Ladybug called out Cat’s flirting with Ryuuko
- HOW DID CHLOE THROW THE HOW SPOTLIGHT AWAY
- Oh my jesus Hawkmoth and Chloe talking I CAN’T
- NOO POOR POLLEN
- Yeah I’m real worried about Fu’s whereabouts now
- OOF ADRIGAMI KISS. lmaoo Andre just staring at them
- oh shit. OH SHIT HERE IT COMES. LUKANETTE. I REPEAT LUKANETTE
- AHHHHH TEARS, IN MY EYES.
- Mari crying is the worst BUT LUKA BEING SUPPORTIVE IS SO GOOD
...
Okay, now, after that, let’s finally move into the last episode: Miracle Queen.
- Oh my gosh, seeing everyone getting stung (families like Alya’s and Max’s especially) and Marinette narrating over it again... This shit is hurting
- AGh Luka saving her, I can’t do this
- I’m glad she thought to use Aqua Tikki. Anyway- OH. OH SHIT ADRIEN’S REJECTING KAGAMI?
- Well, ok, not really, but still...
- AH she saved him
- ANDRE WAS WATCHING THE ENTIRE TIME, EVEN WHEN HE TRANSFORMED
- Seeing everyone being mind controlled is a bit worrying
- nNONONO MIRACLE QUEEN WANTS MIRACULOUS HOLDERS TO COME TO HER. NOW NO ONE’S GOING TO BE ABLE TO TRANSFORM AGAIN AFTER THIS
- SHE GRABBED ALYA’S GLASSES AND SMASHED THEM TF
- ahaha the first one who didn’t have glasses was Kim (”I thought that was a requirement”) oml that was actually funny
- SAY ANYTHING ABOUT LUKA AGAIN AND I’LL WHOOP YOUR ASS
- The Kwami’s aren’t going to do or say anything seeing them brainwashed??
- ew more Gabenath. THEIR BODIES ARE WAY TOO CLOSE TO EACH OTHER-
-  Noo she’s upset again ;-;
- OKAY THE LADYNOIR HUG WAS REALLY SWEET
- YESSS FUCK YESSS. DRAGONBUG LET’S GOOO!!!
- SHE USED THE WATER DRAGON WITH HER YOYO, I’M SHOOK
- ohh shit Hawkmoth’s gonna use Fu to reveal their identity’s!
- YESS MAN, CAT NOIR AND LADYBUG TOGETHER!
- Okay but... Rena Rouge, Roy Singe, Pegase and especially Viperion are so deadly all together I have no idea how they’re going to win.
- NOO no. No. NO. I do not want to see Cat and Viperion fighting. Even if Luka is brain washed, I dont think I can handle it.
- OK NVM WHAT WAS EASY
- Was gonna say, poor Sass, but at least he got some food.
- Hell yeah SNAKE NOIR.
- WTF NO. ROY SINGE DAMMIT. DRAGONBUG NOOO.
- Thank fUCK for Second Chance
- YESS THAT WAS GENIUS YALL
- Can’t believe Chloe really thought she could get Akumatized AGAIN when LB is right there
- HEYEHEYEHHEYEY CHLOE WTF STOP. she has no idea that she literally can’t do that. she’ll crumble mentally is she uses all the miraculous
- anyway it’s super funny that all the Kwami’s are pissed at her. (Honey it don’t work like that, they’re not going to let you order them around)
- GUYS DO SOMETHING AND STOP THE SENTIMONSTER
- JUST GO UP THERE IT’S NOT HARD??
- OOF *that zoom on HM’s face when Fu said LB will be the next guardian aha*
- yeah.... the MIRACLE BOX JUST CHANGED WHAT THE HELL
- HAHA I like how Hawkmoth and Mayura just rode off on the Sentimonster
- Goodbye and good riddance, Chloe
- THEY’RE GONNA FIX THE PEACOCK MIRACULOUS?
- It’s sad hours now boys... Fu doesn’t remember anything... Wayzz’s face too, ugh :(
- MARINETTE’S NARRATION WAS FROM THE POV OF FU’S LETTER. HOLY SHIT. WHATTHE-
- Fu was ready to throw everything away, everything in that locker... Oh my god, I’m not ready for this
- Marianne! AHHH (he remembered her in some way, gosh damn this is bittersweet)
- WHAT.. what.... what the.... Adrien and Mari getting ice cream together, smiling.... AND TALKING normally, I...
- The way that the camera followed them... the fact that they said goodbye to each other to go sit apart from each other...
- NO .... NO I CAN’T HANDLE THIS.
- Luka’s tune was so similar to the theme song and I’m... yeah I’m getting chills OKAY, I’LL ADMIT IT
This... holy shit this finale was good. Like... damn I loved how it ended. There were some good moments that I appreciated, and all together it was really nice.
I need to know how season 4 is going to pick up after this one, so much has changed. I want this show to be better, I really do, and I’m hoping the next season really takes the wind out of us.

Title: as in love with you as i am Pairing: Ladynoir (Ladybug & Chat Noir) Summary: “What if I told you I could make you fall in love with me just by asking you thirty-six questions?” “I’d tell you that you need to update your playbook, kitty.”
Or, Ladybug and Chat Noir do Dr. Aron’s Love Experiment
Chapter 2: Set 2
Ladybug took them to a small café tucked away on a quiet street that she knew wouldn’t have any customers at such a late hour. When the hostess ushered them in from the cold, Ladybug only had to press a finger to her lips before they were given a table towards the back hidden away from the windows so they wouldn’t be disturbed. Ladybug insisted on paying, but the staff eagerly piled their table high with warm sandwiches, sweet pastries, and large cups of thick hot chocolate topped with whipped cream and cinnamon.
The really lovely thing about Chat Noir was that it didn’t take too much to cheer him back up. Once Ladybug took a huge sip of her hot chocolate and got whipped cream all over her nose, he practically fell to the floor in hysterics and couldn’t wipe the grin off his face for the next hour. Ladybug always assumed it was because Chat Noir was really good at pulling amusement out of the littlest of things, and perhaps that was still true to an extent. But now she wondered if that was more a habit than an inherent quality.
Their masks forced a distance between them that usually prevented them from sharing very many details about their home life. Ladybug would have never guessed that Chat Noir’s home life was as cold and lonely as he made it sound, and perhaps finding humor and teasing the daylights out of her was his way of trying to lighten up his days after being faced with indifference and closed doors. The thought alone was so awful that Ladybug found herself sitting on the same side of the booth as Chat Noir and staying as pressed close to him as she could. The staff was certainly looking at this as if it were a date, but Ladybug didn’t care. If there was ever a time that affection was warranted, it was now, and she wanted to make sure he felt her body shake when she laughed at his jokes.
Eventually, she wound up with her legs draped over his lap and Chat Noir’s head resting on her shoulder. They were recovering from a long bout of laughter when Chat Noir managed to mutter a soft thank you in Ladybug’s neck.
“Of course, kitty,” Ladybug told him. “I just hate seeing you look so sad.”
“I didn’t mean to let myself get so down. I usually don’t get that upset talking about him. I’m used to it, really I am.”
Ladybug idly started playing with the ends of his hair. “You don’t have to apologize for getting upset about it in front of me. You don’t have to hide what you’re feeling around me. I’m touched you’d even trust me with something so personal.”
Chat Noir smiled. “I guess the experiment is working.”
Ladybug giggled as he wrapped his arms around her waist. “Yeah, I guess it is.”
“But seriously. I don’t want you to worry about me or anything like that. Sure there are some things that aren’t ideal, but you’re one of the things in my life that fill me with impossible joy. As long as you’re here with me, I’ll always be alright.”
She touched a short kiss to the top of his head and felt him purr against her. “Same here.”
Chat Noir jutted his chin towards her yoyo. “Wanna keep going? I’m feeling a little better now.”
“Are you sure? I’m sure they’re just going to get more personal.”
“Well, we have hot chocolate and cookies now. And now we can brace ourselves for some of the tougher questions and be prepared for them. I’m sure we’ll be alright. Besides, I trust you.”
He squeezed his arms tighter around her to prove the point, and Ladybug decided that it was worth it to continue if only because she didn’t quite feel like leaving him and going home yet. They decided to let Ladybug read the questions from her yoyo for this set and have Chat Noir answer the questions first instead, so she did a quick search on her compact and pulled up the questions to continue where they left off.
“Alright,” Ladybug began. “Number thirteen. If a crystal ball could tell you the truth about yourself, your life, the future or anything else, what would you want to know?”
Chat Noir hummed against her skin. “Where I’ll be and what I’ll be doing in ten years. Now that we’re going to lycée soon, it’s like all anyone can talk about is what they want to be and what they want to study, and I feel like I keep coming up short on that. It’d be nice to get some confirmation from the future so that I know what I’m supposed to be doing.”
Ladybug sucked on her bottom lip. “I’d like to know what my kwami saw in me when she decided I was fit to be Ladybug.”
Chat lifted his head to stare at her. “You absolutely deserve to be Ladybug. Don’t think for one second that you don’t.”
“No, I know,” she assured. “I don’t think I’m undeserving of it. But being Ladybug is such a huge responsibility. And she has to be so many things. Sometimes I feel like I’m too young or too inexperienced to embody all of that and it makes me wonder if I’m doing enough. Like maybe I can get even better if I could just look within myself and see how deep my potential runs. It’d be like a chance to see myself through the eyes of another person.”
Chat Noir nodded. “Hoping that others can see something inside of you that you just keep missing. Some untapped potential or hidden talent.”
“Yeah, exactly.”
“I understand that,” he decided. “But I hope you don’t think that means you’re lacking in some way. It’s one thing to not know what’s hidden inside you, and quite another thing to think that you’re inferior for not being able to see it. Sometimes these sorts of things just take time.”
Ladybug thought of all the close calls and moments of doubt that had almost paralyzed her in the middle of battle and wondered if it really was as simple as being kind to herself and letting that strength slowly furl out of her over time. “I’ve always been really impatient,” she admitted.
But Chat Noir tapped the tip of her nose and smirked. “Well, we can’t rush genius, now can we?”
Ladybug snorted at the corny line but felt her chest grow warm at the compliment anyway. “Is there something that you’ve dreamed of doing for a long time? Why haven’t you done it?”
Chat answered quickly. “Definitely confessing to the person I’m in love with.”
Ladybug tilted her head. “You never told me you were in love with someone. Are you serious?”
“I haven’t told you this? I’m pretty sure I mentioned it.”
“You told me, and I’m directly quoting here, that you’re a small man with a big heart who constantly mourns his inability to woo all the beautiful women in the world, even the ones who pale in the light of my own beauty.”
He stuck his tongue out. “I’m flattered you remembered one of my best pick up lines to date.”
“ That’s subjective.”
“That’s all just me talking, you know that,” he said, sobering up for a moment. “The hero is supposed be all suave, chivalrous, and brilliant with the ladies. But, in all seriousness, there’s a girl that means a lot to me and I’ve never figured out a way of telling her that all my talk isn’t just talk. I’ve tried before but it was either the wrong time or I totally chickened out trying to do it.”
“Is it a fan? Do I know her?”
Chat Noir smirked. “Not telling.”
“Oh, come on.”
“Nope, nope nope. My lips are sealed. But I think you’d like her.”
“How do you know?”
Chat Noir shrugged and pressed his forehead against her temple. “She reminds me of you. The two of you have a lot in common, so it wasn’t hard at all to totally fall for her.”
“Oh…” she breathed out. He got away with dodging the severity of the statement by flagging down the hostess and asking for a hot chocolate refill, but by the time she’d walked off with his long list of flavor additions Ladybug had already scared herself out of goading him for more hints.
It wasn't the first time that Chat Noir suddenly said things that made Ladybug think that perhaps his infatuation with her was just a little bit deeper than he liked to pretend it was. His words were a little too pretty to just be pretend in her opinion. But he'd always flit right back to humor and theatrics before Ladybug could have a chance to challenge it, so she could never be quite sure what he was thinking. Even now he was laughing at the pile up of food they still hadn't made a dent in as if he hadn't just told her that the girl of his dreams was irresistible simply because she shared qualities with Ladybug.
Ladybug realized she'd been quiet for a little too long. "Why haven't you told her?"
"The same reason most people don't confess to their crushes. I'm afraid she'll say no. It wouldn't change anything if she did, I'd still think she was wonderful and I'd still be friends with her. But it hurts to have that sort of thing confirmed. Ignorance is bliss and all that." He leaned his head back over the booth seat. "But enough about me. What about you?"
Ladybug dropped her gaze to her lap. She didn't want to see the look on his face when she told him. "Well...funny you bring up confessions. There's a boy that I've been meaning to confess to for the better part of a year but I also haven't done it."
To his credit, he only hesitated for a few seconds, and his voice was rather clear when he spoke. "Do I know him?"
"Not telling."
"Fair enough." He cleared his throat. "Why, uh...why haven't you said anything?"
There isn't a rehearsed answer in her head, so her thoughts leave her mouth the moment they enter her head. "Well, before I would've said the same thing as you. I was nervous because I was afraid of the type of answer I'd get. But lately it's been more confusing than that."
"Confusing how?"
"I like this boy, I do. But sometimes I share a laugh with someone or look them in the eye and think 'I could probably fall for this person if I gave it the time.' And then I wonder if it's better to explore my feelings and try to get to know other people better before I confess to just one person. Like maybe I should wait to confess until I'm sure that the little spurts of something I'm feeling for other people aren't just passing notions. Does that make sense?"
She sneaked a glance at him and was relieved to see he didn't look hurt. He looked pensive and was chewing the inside of his cheek as if seriously considering her words. "I think it does. Sort of like wanting to explore the potential of other things, right?"
"Exactly."
Chat Noir bit his lip. "Were you speaking in general or is there really someone else you don't know how you feel about?"
"He's a specific person. You'd like him."
"Let me guess?" Chat Noir smirked. "He reminds you of me?"
Ladybug smirked back. "Yeah, actually. He does."
They spent too long on the question, and Ladybug hurried to find the next one while Chat Noir stared at her with a look of bewilderment. "What is the greatest accomplishment of your life?"
Chat Noir's brain struggled to catch up with the change in topic. "Um...I guess...I don't know, I can't say that it's one specific thing. I feel like anytime we help an akuma victim into an ambulance or pluck a kid out of a burning building that makes me feel better than anything else in the world.”
Ladybug nodded. “I agree. I think we have the same answer on that one.” She scrolled down. “Oh, here’s a good one. What do you value most in a friendship?”
He drummed his claws in thought against her hip. “I guess…candor. It’s important to me that my friends are willing to be open and honest with me and not feel like they have to hide things from me. That’s part of the reason why I like you so much. You always say what you feel and I never get the sense you’re being distant with me.”
She liked his answer. It made sense considering what she knew about him now. “I would say,” Ladybug said, “loyalty is what I value most. If you’re willing to stand by me and support me through all the awfulness in the world, you’d be the perfect friend. And that’s also why I like you. We haven’t known each other long but I know that you would never abandon me or ever do something to betray my trust.”
Chat Noir pressed a kiss to her shoulder as she continued on. “What is your most treasured memory?”
It turned out to be another answer that came to him quickly. “Camping out in the living room with my mother every Christmas Eve and waiting for Père Noël to show up. We’d hide under the blankets with cookies and tea and play games until I fell asleep. Then she’d carry me up to my room and place all the presents under the tree. And every year I’d be so mad because I kept falling asleep before he showed up.”
“That’s so adorable,” Ladybug giggled. “Do you and your mother still do it?”
She thought for sure that focusing on happy memories with his mother would be a much more preferable conversation topic than dwelling on his distant father. But it seemed like that wasn’t the best strategy because his wistful smile had suddenly been replaced with a look of discomfort as he coughed into his fist and reached across their table for more food. “Uh…n-no, no we don’t really…I mean I’m too old for it, you know? So we really don’t…yeah, no, not anymore.”
Ladybug suddenly felt silly for asking. “Oh. Well, okay.” She tried to scramble around for her own answer. “Um…I guess mine is finally having enough money from working registers at my parents’ shop and babysitting for friends for me to finally afford my own sewing machine. A brand new one, not the hand-me-down one I’d been using before.”
Chat Noir gave an empty smile, but tried his best to sound enthusiastic. “That’s a nice one.”
She was afraid she’d put him in an awful mood again, so she hurried to the next question in an attempt to skip over the topic. But Ladybug should’ve known that if the list had asked them what their best memory was, it would stand to reason that the next question would ask them what their worst memory was. She winced when she read it aloud and she could feel Chat’s body tensing up in preparation for the awkwardness that was soon to follow after being forced to share something upsetting. Ladybug immediately backtracked and scrolled down her phone. “You know what, let’s just skip this one — ”
“No, no, it’s okay,” Chat Noir promised. “We said we’d get through all the questions, so I wanna answer.”
Ladybug collected both of his hands in hers and pressed kisses to his knuckles while he wracked his brain trying to come up with a proper way of phrasing his response. He let out a forced laugh as he rubbed the back of his neck and stared off into a point in space. “So, uh…weird thing about my mom. She and my father used to get into a lot of fights when I was younger. I think once my father’s company took off he didn’t just grow distant with me. I was always sort of bracing myself for a divorce because it felt inevitable. But, uh…they never got a chance to get divorced because my mom sort of up and left about two years ago.”
“Wait, what?” Ladybug gasped. “What do you mean she just up and left?”
“I mean, exactly that,” Chat Noir explained. “One day she was home and the next she wasn’t. All her stuff was gone and she didn’t tell anyone where she was going. She didn’t even tell me where she was going. I literally woke up one Sunday morning and came to bring her tea in bed like I always do and she…wasn’t there.” He let out a long breath and blinked his eyes rapidly as if to hold something back. “So I guess my worst memory is standing in that doorway and looking at her empty closet thinking she didn’t just want to get away from my father. She wanted to get away from me too.”
His hands started trembling, and Ladybug didn’t know what else to do except pull Chat Noir’s head against her chest and hug him close so that he could feel her heartbeat and know that she was here with him and that she wasn’t going to go anywhere without him. Chat Noir made a noise against her, but she was too scared to look down and check to see if it was a snort or a sob being choked back. “That’s so awful, Chat, I’m sorry…”
“It’s fine,” he mumbled, trying to force smiles and rationalize the horrid feelings he’d accidentally unearthed. “I mean, she always used to talk about feeling trapped in that house and in that marriage. And she always used to say that she felt like getting in her car and driving far far away and never looking back. I don’t blame her for it, I really don’t. She wasn’t happy with my father and I’m sure she needed to get some air. Now that it’s been a couple of years I understand why she left. She couldn’t just take me with her. I had a life here and it didn’t make sense to uproot me because she needed space. But…it’s definitely not easy to wake up and find your mother gone like she just disappeared in a puff of smoke.”
“Have you tried looking for her? Has she ever called? Sent letters?”
“I feel like there may have been a couple of times she called,” Chat Noir admitted. “I can’t be sure since it’d always be from a strange number and the other line would go dead once I picked up. My father has tried looking everywhere for her, but either he gave up or she told him not to go looking anymore. He won’t tell me.” He shook his head a little and pulled Ladybug’s pigtails over her shoulders. “I know it sounds awful, but it’s really alright. I know she’s safe. And I think in a weird way it was what was best for her. I can be satisfied with that.”
Ladybug cupped Chat Noir’s cheeks and pressed a long kiss to his forehead. “Oh, kitty, you’re too good to have gone through all of this nonsense, you don’t deserve a scrap of it.”
When they first met, Ladybug had always chalked all of Chat Noir’s theatrics up to a cocky, overconfident need to have the attention on him at all times. It was easy to not take him seriously and, more importantly, not to fall for him because she was never really fond of people who were full of themselves despite how dependable and loyal he was as a partner. But he was a boy whose father ignored him and whose mother left him. A boy like him probably reached out and frantically grabbed at whatever affection and companionship he could, and now it made sense why someone like him would mark finding his miraculous as the one thing he was most grateful for.
It hurt to think she had him figured all wrong, and suddenly all she wanted to do was keep Chat Noir in her arms for a thousand years and give him five times the love he should’ve been getting from his parents all these years.
Chat Noir kissed her forehead back and patted her compact. “Come on. I don’t want to dwell on it. You still haven’t given me your answer and we still have half the questions left.”
“No, no, mine is honestly silly compared to yours,” Ladybug told him. “I don’t have to share it.”
“Nothing about you is silly,” Chat frowned. “Don’t let my answer keep you from sharing. I want to hear what you have to say.”
Ladybug huffed. “I mean…I don’t know, I guess…when I was ten or so I had this habit of picking up strays and sneaking them home to try and keep them. My parents always made me take them back to the shelters when they caught me, but that didn’t keep me from trying.”
Chat Noir stuck his tongue out at her. “That doesn’t surprise me.”
“Well, I was coming home from school one day,” Ladybug went on, “and I heard this whining from behind one of the dumpers along the street. And I checked inside and there was this tied off garbage bag that was wriggling around and sitting in a puddle of water and gunk at the bottom of the dumpster. So I crawled inside and ripped open the bag and I found this teeny tiny puppy, not even six months old. Wet, cold, and looking like he’d been beat up or hurt pretty bad.”
Chat Noir covered his mouth with his hand. “Oh my god…”
“Some monster hurt that poor dog, tied him up in a bag, and left him to die in the garbage. A tiny little thing that wasn’t old enough to protect itself or have anyone to protect him. And the only thing I’m thinking is that I’m the only person who can do something about it. So I ripped off my jacket — in the middle of winter — wrapped him up, and just sprinted to the closest vet. I skipped school and I burst into this office crying and sobbing because he had stopped barking and he was still shivering and they needed to do something quick before he died.”
“Did he?”
Ladybug sighed. “I mean, yeah, he was in too bad shape. I didn’t get to him in time. But I was ten and I took it really hard so I just totally lost it in the waiting room. I was screaming at them to let me see him, but they wouldn’t let me, and I was crying so hard I couldn’t get air into my lungs. My parents had to come get me because I was inconsolable and couldn’t make it home. And I don’t know, for almost two weeks the only thing that I could think of was that there truly were ugly, horrible people in the world and sometimes it doesn’t matter how hard you try. You can’t do anything to stop them from ruining what they touch.”
He was stroking her hair again, and she leaned into the touch. “That’s horrifying, my lady, I’m sorry.”
“It’s fine. I did my best, and there wasn’t much I could do anyway. But I guess that’s why it’s always mattered to me to be honest and do the right thing. I want to be able to fight against all that awfulness in the world somehow.”
Chat Noir gave her a sad, crooked smile before handing her one of the cups of hot chocolate. “Come on. Drink up. We need it. That was a rough question.”
They both agreed to finish half of their drinks and eat one more sandwich apiece before they moved onto the next question in the set.
“Good grief, so many of these questions are depressing,” Ladybug bemoaned. “If you knew that in one year you would die suddenly, would you change anything about the way you’re now living? Why?”
Chat Noir winced. “Well, I’d probably go ahead and get on with that confession.”
Ladybug burst into laughter. “I second that.”
“I don’t know, I never thought about my life in that way before,” Chat Noir said. “I’d probably try to find my mother. Spend as much time with my friends as possible. Maybe convince my father to let me travel a bit over the summer and just try to see everything I can.”
“I dunno, I don’t think I’d change much, actually. I’d tell my parents everyday that I loved them. I’d try to bury all my grudges and maybe fix my relationships with people who I don’t care much for. Just leave the world with as little negativity and bad karma as possible. That way I can die with a fresh, clean slate.” Ladybug snapped her fingers. “Actually, you know what? I’d probably try and find Hawkmoth a hell of a lot quicker.”
Chat Noir whistled and held out his fist. “Ooh, I will fist bump to that .”
Ladybug knocked fists with him and breathed out in relief at the next item. “The next one’s about friendship, but we sort of already answered that one. The one after that is what roles do love and affection play in your life?”
Chat Noir puffed out his cheeks while he thought. “I’m desperate for them to play a bigger role in my life than they do. I feel like I’m holding in all this love and there’s nowhere for it to go.”
Ladybug pulled him closer so that his head was tucked against her shoulder again. “They play a big role in my life only because I try to have love for everyone who shows me kindness. I’m also a really tactile person so I’m always affectionate towards people that I’m close with. That’s why it’s nice to sit with you like this. I care about you and I like showing that care through touching. It just feels natural to me.”
“It’s nice,” he agreed. “I don’t think I’ve ever had a friend who hugged and touched me as much as you do. The only other person who showed me that much affection was my mother so it’s really nice. I never get to thank you for that as often as I’d like.”
“Alternate sharing something you consider a positive characteristic of your partner. Share a total of five,” Ladybug read.
“Only five?” Chat Noir pouted. “That’s simply a crime.”
“Well do your best to be succinct and share the best ones,” she teased.
“Okay. I think you have a gorgeous smile. And I’m not saying that to flirt or be funny. I genuinely think that whenever you smile it’s stunning.”
He said it with such honesty that Ladybug decided to indulge him and flash him with one of those smiles. “Your sense of humor. You always make me laugh and I love you for that.”
“You’re selfless, and you always try to do the right thing even though it’s hard.”
“You’re an amazing fighter and I can always trust you to keep me safe.”
“I like that you’re a good whistler.”
“I like that you’re a good singer.”
“The way your mask doesn’t quite cover the freckles on your nose.”
“Your dimples. And I think you’re adorable when you laugh.”
Chat Noir sighed. “I think you’re beautiful.”
It wasn’t like any of the other times he complimented her. This one melted into her skin and made her heart race until she was sure her entire face was warming under her gaze. She decided to stop holding herself back and speak honestly for once. “And I think you’re incredibly handsome.”
She could practically see his chest expand at the compliment, and for a moment it felt like everything around them had slipped away into nothing and it was just the two of them sitting here with each other and revelling in what made the other perfect. The two of them didn’t often have the opportunity to learn so much about each other and peek into each other’s hearts. Ladybug wished they’d done this sooner because somehow, without her realizing it, Chat Noir looked different to her. More charming, more human, more vulnerable, and more humble. Really, at the end of the day, he was a person who only wanted from the world as much as he put into it. It wasn’t much to ask at all, and Ladybug felt that maybe…yes, she did feel like giving Chat Noir all the beauty that he deserved but had been cruelly denied.
In the back of that quiet café with only the hum of traffic and gentle music from the radio up front to fill the silent, Ladybug thought that maybe she could allow herself the room to start to loving him a little more. The idea wasn’t so ridiculous or impossible anymore. If anything now that he was here, wrapped around her with his soft breaths tickling the underside of her chin, loving him had never felt easier.
Maybe this silly little article had something behind it.
She pressed her lips to the top of his head and saw that they only had two questions left in the second set. “This thing is a little repetitive. Twenty-three and twenty-four are about our families and our mothers, but I think we’ve beat that topic to death.”
“I have,” Chat Noir clarified. “You haven’t told me anything about your family or your mother.”
“I feel bad talking about my family,” she confessed.
“Don’t feel bad about it,” he urged. “Seriously, don’t dwell too much on how I grew up. I want to hear how lovely your family is, honest.”
“I mean, there’s not much to tell,” Ladybug shrugged. “They were wonderful. They loved me just enough. They hugged and kissed me before I went to bed every night. They supported me in everything I wanted to do. I don’t have one horrible thing to say about them. The only thing I can really say about my mother is that she always has high expectations for me. It’s a cultural thing I think. She always wants me to constantly push harder and do better until I’m the best I can be, but I don’t see that as a bad thing. She also happens to give really amazing advice.”
“What’s the best piece of advice she ever gave you?” Chat Noir asked.
“That the thing I should be willing to fight, struggle, and work hardest for is love,” Ladybug said. “Love always comes with obstacles and battles that seem impossible to overcome. But if you can survive them, you’ll be rewarded with a feeling so raw and simple that it becomes the single most important thing you’ll ever own. Love is beautiful because it requires you to try.”
Chat Noir’s eyes softened. “That’s gorgeous.”
“Yeah. I thought so too.”
Soon, the hostess came to their table and told them that the café would be closing in just a few minutes. Neither of them were eager to go back out into the cold since it was so late, but they still had twelve questions left to answer and they were far too invested in finishing to even think about calling it a night. Ladybug didn’t think before she pecked Chat Noir on the cheek and asked him, “Where to next?”
“Wanna visit Notre Dame?” Chat Noir offered. “We haven’t been there in a while. It’ll be nice and cozy inside and we’ll have the place to ourselves.”
Ladybug perked up. “Can we sit underneath the rose window again?”
“You read my mind,” he agreed. “If we’re careful, I think we can maybe sneak some of the pastries in with us too.”
