the cans of spray paint clattered onto the damp cemented floor as soon as donghyuck heard sirens ring throughout the alleyway.

you gave him a look of confusion and urged him to give a quick reply, but instead of giving an assuring answer, donghyuck grinned and grasped your hand before dashing out of the dark alleyway.

"hyuck, i thought you said no one could find us there !?"

"woah woah, slow down there darling, i did say that there was a possibility of us being caught...oiii come on, wheres the fun in playing it safe?"

after the unplanned chase you two had gotten yourselves into, you and donghyuck decided to head back home, slipping through dark paths for a quicker route.

after reaching the floor and punching in the code for the lock, you turned around swiftly to face your boyfriend , gently grasping his hands, leading him into your shared apartment.

you shot him a smile, pushing him onto the couch before heading over to the shelves of vinyls. you glanced at one section, gliding your fingertips on each spine, coming to a stop once you had spotted his favourite album, ‘AM’ by the artic monkeys.

Music was your love language and it was his too. it was a way to express and understand one another, and most importantly, it was the reason why you and donghyuck were brought together.

taking the fragile piece out of its packet, you placed it onto its player, putting the volume all the way up. donghyuck slowly heads over to you, placing his hands on your waist, eyes signalling you to wrap your arms around his neck.

“happy birthday my dearest fullsun.” you softly whispered.

“thank you darling.” donghyuck gently replied, before dipping down to connect his lips with yours.

at that very moment, you silently thanked god for giving you such an angel. an angel that went by the name Lee Donghyuck.

Oh yes, DOZENS OF PAIRS. And not because I’m incapable of designing one cousin without another as it’s boochiboo in mind. All right, it’s a little bit that. But, actually, I do think Experiments as a “species” are more inclined to pair off and ”mate for life” than we might think. Because they have the whole I was made from scratch, there’s nothing else like me, and I’m a monster, so there’s nowhere I belong complex sort of built in. And I think it’s very natural that they would try to find that sense of belonging from another person, especially another Experiment, because they can all relate to one another in a way no other type of being can relate in the universe. Stitch fills that hole with his Ohana in the first film; specifically with Lilo. Choosing someone to love and finding your identity in being chosen runs in the family, for Experiments.

But anywho, now that we’re done with the existential crisis and analysis of why Experiments would pair up like a lovesick penguin colony, the FUN part!

Ships!

Some Experiments were literally made for each other. For example, Pasthole and Futurehole, Bonnie and Clyde, Hyuckster and Chortle. Not only are they programmed to be drawn to one another, but after turning good, they have such a good foundation of “shared experience” with each other that they grow and change and stay together.

Then there are Experiments who choose one another. Like Stitch and Angel, but also:

- Yin and Yang

- Carmen and Sample

- Sproing and Elastico

- Slushy and Cooler

- Rueben and Mama Frita

- Sparky and Comet

- Spooky and Witch

- Bling Bling and Zirconia

Not all Experiment relationships work out. For example, Holio crushes on El Fin for a long time before finally giving up, leaving El Fin to pair up with Sinker. Lotis Wife and He (that’s his name, I’m just here to design what the creators did not) should, for all intents and purposes, either be totally perfect together or all wrong for each other, and they’re very off-and-on-again. Even Sparky and Comet have a rocky start, because she’s so careful and easily spooked and he’s so energetic. And among the renegade cousins they’re no strangers to romantic drama. Trip would teleport himself into a black hole if Prism asked him to, but she doesn’t take him seriously at all.

And not all cousins form a romantic bond, sometimes they just become incredibly close friends. Phantasmo and Witch, in particular, are like your classic older-brother little-sister duo. Prism is also the only one who can calm Grindz down, and they make an unlikely pair! And let’s not forget, Doubledip and Mr. Stenchy, who are BFFs.

The Experiments LOVE forming close bonds. It’s like catnip to them. They have lots of love to give.
