Burden
Part One Sebastian Sallow x Reader
Five years after leaving Hogwarts, after ruining everything, he was drunk on your doorstep trying to fix what he had broken.
Tumblr media
*°*°•.˜”*°•.˜”*°•.˜”*°••°*”˜.•°*”˜.•°*”˜.•°*”°*
He was a burden to everyone in his life, he would be alone forever watching everyone he knew fall in love and live their life. Sebastian was not a good person, he was selfish and longed for deep connections he would never be able to sustain. Ruining the connection he had to you had turned him into someone he hated. He had no real connections anymore, his friendship with Ominis had continued fading regardless of them both working in the Ministry. All Sebastian wanted to do was apologise to everyone he had ever known, to try to minimise the impact of his existence.
The only person to blame for all of his problems was himself, it filled him with such a deep self hatred that he didn't know where to channel. It usually gave him a ridiculous amount of motivation in his work as an Auror because he knew nothing in his formative years would be remembered as heroic by anyone. A selfish, stupid, scared little boy was all he was for so long that escaping it seemed impossible. Could he ever be a good person with no hope for personal gain? Had he ever really done something kind or thoughtful for someone? No one would ever bear witness to the person he could have been because he didn't have the energy to commit to it.
You had seemed to love the scared, selfish boy he was. But Sebastian didn't realise until you were gone because he never thought someone could love this face he was so afraid of. Such kindness and an unnerving support he had never felt before, not knowing how to appreciate it he squandered it all. Losing you killed his heart, or, what was left after Anne forbade him from seeing her. He was so fucking sorry that he had ever met you, for your sake. If he had never used you, under the guise of asking for help, none of it would have happened. He wouldn't have upset you, he wouldn't have made you cry.
From the first moment he met you, every thought contained you, every book echoed your wizarding skill, every case he had as an auror only made him think of how you would react in the situation. But all Sebastian would have done- if they did end up together- was hold you back from your true potential because he could never escape his own selfishness. He knew he would kill for you, but you didn't want that. You didn't need dark magic or tricks to show your devotion to someone like he did. You were just… good, a good person who deserved the world that Sebastian should have given you. He would regret that till he day he died, always looking at you with so much love and care that he never knew how to express. The love was replaced by petty comments, calling you ignorant and acting out when he should have just stopped for a moment. Realised that maybe you could love him too, if he'd stopped for a moment he would know to stand by your side.
His head was a mess of firewhiskey and opium, he lay on the floor of his dark flat silently crying at the life he dreamt of with you. A better man could sweep you off your feet, show you love in ways he didn't understand. Held you close to his chest and tell you just how much he loved you without breaking down. You needed someone stronger than him, someone who wasn't tempted by substances and women. Someone who didn't self-sabotage every relationship and friendship he had ever had. You deserved more than he could ever give you. If you ever saw how fucked up he really was, even now, he didn't know how you'd react. Showing himself bare to the world and to you was too terrifying to consider. He was deep in this pit of despair that he had created, so consumed by his own psyche that letting anyone in was too intimidating to consider.
He didn't know when he had got up and began walking on the pavement towards the flat he knew you used to live in. He didn't know what he was doing, how disheveled he looked or that his tears had made his collar wet. Did you even live there anymore? Did you have a husband or any children? He began to overthink everything he had done in his life up until now. Did you know how much of a mess he was? Did Ominis keep you updated on how alone he really was? Or had you just forgotten about him? Regardless of what his head thought, his legs were taking him to you.
Had he locked his door? He didn't remember, but at this point nothing else seemed to matter like seeing your face and telling you everything. If he had realised how pathetic the whole thing was- as he did the following morning- maybe he wouldn't have gone. But he wasn't sure. In all the years since he had been close with you, he had never had the courage to see you again until the substances mixed in his system gave him a false sense of security.
Imagining you as the same girl who was his first kiss, his only love, the person he had disappointed the most. What if you never knew how he felt? Sebastian didn't think he could have less of a will to live at this moment but he knew that not seeing you might have been the final nail in his coffin. You would make everything alright. In his head, that was the only thing making sense to him. If he saw you, everything would sort itself out.
His dreams and fantasies of holding you, kissing you, loving you had to be real. At least in that moment that was what he thought. Sebastian would think about you for hours, dreaming up scenarios that would never happen. But that didn't matter right now, he was at your doorstep.
He was by no means sober, but the cold air had sobered him up to a point of considering this was a terrible idea. That he would do something irreversible, you would see him break down and not know what to do. As he knocked on your door at almost 12 am, some part of his soul hoped you didn't live here anymore.
But when you opened the door and found a man you never believed you would see again, you didn't know what to do. What to say, how to react, whether you should shut the door or hold him in your arms. What was he doing here? Why now? After all the years of hurt and confusion you wanted the concrete slabs on your doorstep to swallow you whole.
“Y/n, I…” he began, but as he looked into your eyes, so confused and perhaps scared, all he could do was let tears fall from his own. How could he do this to you? How could he ruin your night? “I-I’ll leave now and you won't have to, won't have to see me again.” He stuttered over his words and nearly fell down the steps.
“Sebastian,” you said almost too softly for him to hear and he turned his head, “Come inside.”
Of course you invited him inside, you were too lovely, too caring to realise what a fucking mess he was. The sobering effect was minimised when he stepped into the warmth of your flat, he was ushered into the drawing room where the two of you sat on adjacent chairs in silence. How could this conversation even begin? Neither of you knew what to say to one another, least of all Sebastian who was slowly realising that he shouldn't be there.
“Ominis told me you're a successful Auror now.” You started, convinced that the only way to get you through this conversation was hollow pleasantries.
“Yes,” Sebastian cleared his throat, acutely aware of how wet his cheeks were. “Do you work for the ministry as well?”
“Yes, thank you for asking. In the law department.” You replied curtly, your hands slightly trembling in your lap.
“I-” he paused, considering his words to cut through the anxiousness in his head “I'm sorry, for interrupting your night.”
“It is always nice to see an old friend,” that drove a stake into Sebastian's heart. “Under different circumstances it would perhaps be better.” Your smile was polite.
“I do not want to overstay my welcome, I'm sure you have other things to attend to.” Sebastian could feel tears threatening to fall. He sniffed to try and rid his body of the ache he felt all over.
“Nonsense, stay here for a moment.” You stood up and left the room, Sebastian half expected you to return with your wand and demand he leave but you didn't.
“I knew I would see you again one day,” she returned a few moments later with a small box and a glass of water. “This is some of the memories from hogwarts and I realised I still had some of your things with them.” Sebastian gratefully took the glass of water and drank it quickly. You sat down in the same chair as before and brought out a Slytherin scarf along with a small pin and tried to hand it to him.
“You- do you not want them anymore?” He asked quietly, having no idea what was going on and feeling an urge to run away. His fantasy of your life together was slowly crumbling.
“I thought.” You began to say but stopped, placing the items neatly in your lap as you ran your hand over the fabric that was still soft.
“They were gifts, I don't want you to think you have to give them back.” Sebastian replied, staring at the floor because he knew if he met your gaze he would start crying uncontrollably.
“Do you still have my scarf?” You asked timidly.
“Of course, I wouldn't want to part with it.” Sebastian ran a hand over his extremely loose tie and began to tighten it with great difficulty.
“Let me do it, you always struggled with not looking scruffy at school.” You leant over and began unraveling his tie, tying it up in a much more presentable fashion. Your movements were slow and careful, scared you would spook him like some kind of wild beast.
“Thank you.” Sebastian managed to weakly say, still unable to look you in the eye and choosing to flick his eyes back and forth from his own hands to the scarf you still had on your lap.
After you were done you placed your hands back on the scarf, methodically touching it with the care you had always shown it. There was silence for a while, but you were unable to decipher in your mind whether it was awkward or comfortable. Who was this man in front of you who made your hands shake? Sebastian had been out of your life for so many years that you didn't know how to think around him. Whether you should tell him how often you thought of him, how much you wanted to see his smile and play with his hair as you watched the stars in the Astronomy Tower all over again. His name felt so comfortable coming from her mouth, her lips craved to tell him everything but the ache all over her body told her that it might not be wise. You still had the scarf, your connection to a Sebastian who seemed long gone. Replaced by a man who couldn't reach your gaze or tell you why he was there without letting tears fall.
“I will take my leave now. Leave you alone.” Sebastian said quietly as he stood up.
“Sebastian, please I-” you started.
“I'll only ruin things.” He said even quieter before walking away quicker than you could react. You would never know, you will never know, you should never know how he felt.

What I would feed HL characters and why
Because cooking food is the best love language
Tumblr media
Sebastian Sallow - Beef bourguignon (French beef stew) with scalloped potatoes
(because that boy probably eats like a hobbit and I’m all for it.) (And an Onion soup for starters and a warm caramel apple pie with vanilla ice for dessert. He’s my favourite he gets the full course.)
Ominis Gaunt - Fraisier (French strawberry cake)
(because don’t tell me that boy doesn’t love sweets and especially fancy desserts. He’d try to hide his love for cute desserts tho.)
Garreth Weasley - Fancy Grilled cheese with cheddar and onion jam
(he is the kind of guy to always enthusiastically compliment the food but never remember what it was. Just that it was good.)
Leander Prewett - Bento cake with words of affirmation
(because he needs some reassurance. Like « you’re doing great », or « good boy » to fit in the small space ?)
Amit Thakkar - Dakgalbi (Spicy stir-fried chicken)
(I’m sure that poor boy suffers from being forced to eat British food everyday but I don’t want to insult his palate with my poor knowledge of Indian cooking. So Korean spicy chicken it will be, I bet he’d be eager to discover a new cuisine.)
Poppy Sweetings - Onion tart and a muffin
(all vegan because that girl would be vegan, and she needs food easy to eat while out while she cares for beasts.)
Natsai Onai - Cinnamon rolls with a hot chocolate topped with whipped cream
(because I’m sure her mother doesn’t let her eat too much sugar but she loves it.)
Imelda Reyes - Cacio e Pepe pasta
(because she needs her carbs as a quidditch player and she must like simple things. And she’d tell me I did it wrong, like Italians when you cook Italian food. Same attitude.)
Anne Sallow - Juk (Korean rice porridge) and brownies
(rice porridges in many Asian cultures are popular when sick, to give strength. And a yummy comforting dessert for that strong girl.)

Homely - Sebastian Sallow WIP
Tumblr media
Pairing: Sebastian x Fem!Reader
Warnings: angst, fluff, body worship, smut (GIVE SEB THAT LOVE)
A/N: as an apology for my creative inactivity (or something along those lines) I'm here with another WIP from an upcoming smutty body worship fic about insecure!Seb. That boy needs some love <3
Masterlist • WIP list
"I'm hungry," she whined suddenly, half-lying, and pointed at the book in his hands. "Think you can get us some food?"
"Gamp's Law of Elemental Transfiguration," said Sebastian simply, turning a page. "We can't conjure food."
"Who said anything about conjuring?" She smirked and scooted closer to him. "You could summon it for me?"
"Summon from where? Not the Kitchens I hope — it's too early for anything in there to be cooked."
"No." She scrunched up her nose. "But… Ominis told me…"
Sebastian finally looked at her as she sang, and she got even closer, leaning her arm on his shoulder. The tips of his ears turned red, freckles slightly hidden under the flush, and she smiled in feigned innocence.
"You got food under your bed," she concluded with a small chuckle. "Would you get it for me? I know you can be possessive of your food, but for me?"
"Possessive? Of food?"
"Well, you like to eat. You're always eating and never sharing."
She jokingly pouted, but Sebastian's smile faltered, that pretty flush suddenly draining from his face along with all colour. She frowned in concern. "Seb?"
"I'll get you the food. I'll get you all of it if you want," said Sebastian quietly. "It's just a few Cauldron Cakes, I don't even like them that much…"
That was a lie. Sebastian loved his Cauldron Cakes: she had gotten him some for his birthday, too, knowing that, and she certainly hadn't forgotten that bright smile on his face that had made her whole body tingle.
"Hey," she whispered. "I'm sorry, have I—?"
"No." Sebastian turned his head away, his fingertips nervously flicking the corner of the pages. She didn't buy it, but she didn't know what to do either. So she did the only thing that came to her mind.
Her arms slowly wrapped around his waist, sliding under his robes, cheek resting on his shoulder. His breath caught, and he turned back to her before he could even process. She rubbed her face against him. "I'm sorry. Please don't be mad at me."

MC: "Why is my wand not working? It was having a hard time yesterday, but now it's... not working even less!"
Anne: "Give it a pep-talk."
Ominis: "Shout abuse."
Sebastian: "Have you tried giving it a raise?"
MC: "Three types of people..."

This is just more buzzfeed unsolved shitpost-
Sebastian in yellow, Ominis in blue
CC bellow the cut
A little off topic, but very impressive on the great white sharks behalf, that they can do such a clean bite!
Well, it's a powerful animal
Yeah- hell yeah it is
I mean, it's not a bear, but it's... it's a powerful animal
It can certainly kill a bear. hands down, if you dropped a bear in the ocean
It definitely couldn't- no, if you-- no, if a bear- we've been over this before. The bear is the most deadly animal of all time
Not its not
Yes it is
No its not
Yes it is
No its not
If you put a bear on any playing field in the world: water, land...
Nope, hippopotamus
No, fuck you dude, a bear's the most-
Hippopotamus would kill a bear in a heart beat
You know what, we're getting too off topic. This is a conversation for another time
Fuck you

HLC react to being allowed to touch your face
Dear Anon, tumblr got hungry and decided to eat your ask. BAD TUMBLR! *flicks its nose* I hope you see this post, Anon! I hope it's okay that I just did the boys.
"HLC react to being able to touch your face when you're usually very afraid of people touching it."
------------
Sebastian Sallow 💚 - Feels like the luckiest man in the wizarding AND muggle worlds. Tries to move slowly so he doesn’t frighten you, but he’s too excited to control himself for long. He brushes your hair out of your face, runs his fingers over any scars you have. He’s tempted to press soft kisses to every inch of your face, he wants you to know how loved you are, but convinces himself to save that for next time. Can’t get over how soft your skin is under his calloused fingers.
Ominis Gaunt 💚 - Takes his time running his fingers over the plains and dips of your face, mapping it. Beyond excited to finally ‘see’ what you look like, but he plays it cool. His fingers are cold against your flushed face. He laughs nervously the whole time. When he’s done he cups your face in his hands. “Yep, just as I suspected. You’re beautiful, MC.”
Leander Prewett ❤️ - Very sweet about it, asking why you don't like to be touched, but understanding when you aren’t ready to answer. Probably the first person you let get this close. Even though you gave him permission he still let it happen on your schedule. “I’ll put my hand up here and you can lean into it when you’re ready. It’s okay if you decide to pull away, I don’t want to rush you.” His hands are warm and soft. When you press your cheek against his waiting palm he lets out a deep sigh, his eyes fluttering closed for a second. Asks if it’s okay to move his hand before doing so. Rubs little circles against your skin with his thumb. Can't believe you trusted him and isn’t afraid to tell you so.
Amit Thakkar 💙 - Rubs his hands together to warm them before gently dragging the back of his index finger over your cheeks and chin. “You’re sure this is okay, MC? You’ll tell me if it becomes too much, yes?” His hands shake as they brush over your skin.
Garreth Weasley ❤️ - Is most interested in feeling your lips. Stands extremely close to you, whispering your name as he drags a thumb over your lips, tracing them. Loves the blush that spreads across your cheeks. “Your lips always look so soft, MC.”  Boops your nose before pulling away instead of asking if he can kiss you. Regrets that decision as soon as you walk away.

One Song to my Desires (HL Boys reactions towards their desire for Female MC.)
Well I had a dry spell of writing, so I'm going to fix that. Going through my playlist and I decided to write some drabbles for the HL boys based on each song, surrounding the theme of desire towards Female MC. Borrowing @hogwartslegacyreactions format again.
Sebastian Sallow :
He isn't the subtle type, Sebastian knows what he wants. Her.
She had him from the beginning they locked eyes at Professor Hecat's class, which set off a chain reaction of adventures together. She is just in sync with him, knowing his next moves be it in dueling or his thinking process. Everyone may know her as the hero of Hogwarts or the new 5th year, but not to Sebastian.
No one knows her like he does.
He knows the little things about her, he has been paying attention when she isn't looking. She has little tells that Sebastian predicts her response almost accurately, then it slowly grows into him having tunnel focus on her alone. He will admit he is greedy, he wants more from her. No not want, need.
He needs to taste her skin and lips, he needs his hands to explore her body, for his whole being comes alive with her mere presence. It makes him growl in jealousy that other suitors would even dare come for her. He needed to be her one and only.
Afterall, that hunger inside him for her is getting insatiable.
Ominis Gaunt:
They didn't have the best first impressions towards each other, but Ominis slowly grew fond of her presence. She didn't shun him away, and since the events of their 5th year he could use the friendship.
Something Ominis had started to notice was how his heart raced at her voice saying a mere hello to him. It was a sudden rush that he felt in his veins, that never happened before. Slowly, he noticed his body responding to everything about her. Her scent, her voice, her touch... Oh how her touch haunted him so. He just only wanted to carry on in this world in his own terms, but why is it he find himself wanting to simply be by her side? His own body betrays him with a yearning for her to hold him, to be tangled into her arms, to let his tongue taste the heat of her skin, to hear her voice saying she was his.
Deny it all he wants. But his body speaks and listens to her.
Garreth Weasley:
She is playful, up to no good. The whole package. Garreth was surprised to find someone that understands and supports his love of mischief. It was almost likened to a kindred spirit that he doesn't find in his other friends.
Garreth finds himself spending an awful lot of time with her, laughing at her jokes, giving big ideas that she willingly contributes and humours him about. They are sync, but he wants more from her. More than friends.
He just merely wants to be by her side, giving his all to her. It is killing him to wonder if she will reciprocate his feelings. Garreth finds himself thinking of her even in class or a study session, his mind worries for her. Could she not see how much he wants to woo her, putting all his love for her? Every little touch she gives makes him want to tell her that he wants them to be real and every smile she gave him would make him want to claim her lips for his own to take.
It would be his idea of a heaven with her, proving how much of a lover he could be.
Amit Thakkar:
He isn't the type to confront, but Amit knows he came dangerously close with her.
Sure she had to protect him plenty of times when he gets too frightened or be it her reassuring him that things are fine even when it wasn't. But he was more than just a Gobbledegook speaker, astrologer wannabe or a scared duelist. He wanted to prove that to her, for he was so tired of her having to continuously protect him.
It was frustrating, he wanted to show to her that he is more than what she thinks of him to be. Give him a chance, and Amit will show her who really was in charge. All he just asks for in return was respect, for she had captivated him so. She had a wild, untamed beauty that ignited a flame in him. He respected her for the qualities she had that he doesn't, but all he asks is for her to look at things his way. To understand him, for Amit understands she will never be tamed and he frankly, likes that about her.
Just give him a reason to stay, and Amit knows he will.
Leander Prewett:
There is no one quite like her. She is the whole package that Leander knows is out of his league. She wouldn't look his way. Why would she? The hero of Hogwarts, beating him in everything Leander thought he was good at the minute she landed. Leander can't catch up to her. Maybe that is how she captivated him. How much she was in tune and control with that power she wielded. As if she knew how to be a leader. Something Leander wishes he could be, but he admired that sort of qualities in others. It was so wicked of her to creep into his dreams at night, to have his heart wrenched in her hand and she had no clue on the power she had over him. He didn't want to admit he was falling for her, it was just a game his feelings playing on him as he imagined himself wanting to be at her side, to worship her and adore her. Pride be damned, he would bare his soul wide open as an offering for her. It is a beautifully wicked game his heart was playing, and he let himself get caught in it's web.
Everett Clopton:
When did she captivated him? Could it be that glint in her eye as she raced him alongside that broom course? Or was it that wink she gave when she said the sights of their detour was worth it? Everett can't name a moment when, but since then she crept into his mind. Everett begins to notice little things at first but it graduates slowly towards her spirit. How she captivates him so when she gets reckless, throwing caution to the wind quite literately. A daredevil that has nothing to lose, . He begins to wonder if she behaves like that toward her lover. Would she enjoy experimenting with the possibility of being caught? He let those thoughts haunt him in his dreams as he begins to be aware of the rising heat inside him that he needs to quieten with the image of her, her voice reaching unholy notes that would make an angel blush. Everett wanted... more. He wants her to make him go further, to take him to his limit until he begs for mercy. She is the only one that could make him submit to his lust fully, satisfy that hunger deep within like an adrenaline rush of a broom race. For now, dreams will do to satisfy his burning desire.

Blurry Eyes
Part Two Sebastian Sallow x Reader
You never thought you would see your old love, Sebastian, again. Now that he had returned to your life, you knew the hole in your heart had always been shaped like him.
Tumblr media
*°*°•.˜”*°•.˜”*°•.˜”*°••°*”˜.•°*”˜.•°*”˜.•°*”°*
previous part-burden
When you met Sebastian and Ominis you had immediately been intrigued by them. Having no real family of your own you had to attach yourself to someone and couldn't see anyone better than the two Slytherin boys. Whether it was saving beasts or fighting Ashwinders together, you and Sebastian were inseparable. Ominis usually let the two of you go off and do “something stupid” as he always said- content to complete all of his work in the peace and quiet of your absence.
Everyone thought the two of you were some kind of item in whatever capacity that was. But neither of you really considered it at the time, at least in fifth year. You were best friends, going to classes together, studying together and sometimes sneaking out together in search of ancient magic. Even after everything that happened with his Uncle, you stood by him. Sebastian deserved another chance, all of the effort the two of you had put into saving Anne was taken away. It was understandable that he was inconsolable and acted out.
Ominis didn't understand, not in the same way you did. There was always a darkness within Sebastian you didn't shy away from. If anything it made you more drawn to him than Ominis, Ominis was safe and secure. Sebastian… he was chaos, a chaos that you craved the more you got of it, your life became remarkable when you were with him. Your magic may have been more advanced than his, but every time you went somewhere with Sebastian it felt like you might never come back. That you'd go on some kind of adventure, run away and go exploring. It felt like you had nothing to lose when you were together.
Sixth year hit the both of you like a brick wall. As soon as you saw one another after the summer holidays, your eyes seemed to go wide. He was so… different to look at. Not really an immature boy anymore, closer to a man. The whole school year you were just as close, the gossip about the two of you ran around the school as fast as it got back to you. But nothing happened, you were just friends who flirted with each other and spent every day with one another.
Final year was when it all changed, when the two of you kissed after sneaking into the restricted section once again. You were inexplicably happy when you got back to your dormitory, smiling yourself to sleep. But nothing changed, he didn't say anything. Didn't court you or even try to broach the subject. He pulled away, spent more time with his books than you or Ominis. That was how it all ended, a kiss of unrequited love that led you to where you were today.
You had friends, you had a best friend, Ominis, you had potential suitors that you turned down. You had no blood relatives but had a sort of work family that existed without Sebastian Sallow- much to your chagrin. Ominis had kept you relentlessly updated with news of Sebastian as you all grew, for some reason the Gaunt boy knew much too much about everything. He was a bloody oracle at this point, gossiping to his best friend about all the happenings in the Ministry you were too busy to focus on.
Everytime be spoke of Sebastian your heart felt like it might give out, the childless hope your held in your heart was still so strong. What did you want from him? You didn't know who he was now. All you dreamed of was what that look in his would be like, when he finally realised that you could make one another so happy. You could give him everything, the sun and the moon if you had too. But you weren't his, and he wasn't yours. This teenage pipedream born from a crush has controlled too much of your adult life already and you decided enough was enough.
Did you want to be his? Yes. No matter who he was. It was a dumb love, you would do anything to be close to him again but it was destined to fail. You had good days, so many good days that you couldn't be angry. All you could do was pack up the memories you had of him into a box and put it under your bed for safe keeping. You would never see the future of his life except for maybe in a newspaper or through Ominis. But you could exist like that, keep him in a state of sentimentality rather than wishing on him like a shooting star.
From there you moved on, focussed on your work and building your friendships back into being strong. You asked Ominis to talk to someone else about Sebastian and instead normally socialised with him. There was no mention of Sallow in any of your following conversations. It was refreshing, you didn't worry that you'd walk past him at the ministry or somewhere in London because that was alright. He was a man, just a man and you didn't have to sensationalise him like you had been doing for so long. Sebastian couldn't fix everything just like you couldn't for him. You were okay with this.
Every now and then you had nightmares about him dying on the job or had a straying thought about whether he missed you. But mostly you kept Sebastian out of your mind. If you were to move on and allow someone else to be this impactful on your life, perhaps it could truly start without looking backwards at what could have been.
Five years after you had left Hogwarts you were working in the legal department of the Ministry, had your own flat and didn't have to worry about your old best friend.
Everything changed that night when he turned up on your doorstep, you could smell the alcohol on his breath and see the far away look in his eyes. You spoke for barely ten minutes but, after he left everything came back. How you wanted to pull him close to you and protect him from his own demons. Everytime as a teenager you wished he would kiss you and court you like other girls. That he would see you as more than an option. You tried to move on, tried to be with other people but it wasn't right. It had never been right because no matter whose bed you shared you wished it was his.
You ran to your front door, almost pulling the door off it's hinges as you threw it open. Running into the dusk of night you stood in the road and looked around everywhere for him. After a glimpse of him you couldn't believe was real, you needed to touch him-make sure he was real and not another dream.
“Sebastian!” You called out.
The world was spinning, you started running through the mist even though you had no idea what direction he went. You longed to hear his voice, see how his face had changed and how he had grown into his deeper voice. He couldn't look you in the eye before, they were so full of sorrow and all you wanted to do was take all the pain away.
It had been a while. You weren't sure how long but you were cold, your feet bare and cold. It was time to go home and begin the process of forgetting again. Talking to him again brought back every conversation, every quiet moment of teenage awkwardness that you smiled about later. The time that you kissed and how that feeling had never been recreated with anyone since. This feeling of loss that had been eating away at you was only getting worse. Your soul was missing something. He had walked back into your life and through your heart so carelessly. Gave you hope for a life that wasn't real. His eyes, there was so much sadness but also the feeling of comfort and longing. You knew he came to you for a reason and you only wished he had stayed.
You reached your old Victorian style flat and could only think of how Sebastian's influence was all over this house. His favorite colours, things that reminded you of Feldcroft. When you walked back into the drawing room you saw his old school scarf and let out a choked noise. No crying. It was like you had finally been given air and it was slowly being taken away from you again. You rummaged around in a rattan basket on the side table and found some cigarettes and a lighter. It was a habit you were trying to get rid of but you didn't care. At least it might distract you.
Sitting down on your steps outside you leant on the bannister fencing that led to your front door. Only now realising your feet were bleeding. You sighed and lit your cigarette watching how the blood slowly dropped onto the concrete slabs as you held one of your legs over your knee. The burn of the lighter on your finger woke you up from your trance and you swore to yourself before taking a drag. All you wanted, regardless of your success and your freedom, was him. It was pathetic, truly. Completely pathetic. You had your independence, your complete unwavering independence. Not having to worry about being a woman the same way muggles did, you were powerful and good at your job but… it wasn't enough.
When you thought about it, you had spent more days of your life thinking about Sebastian than physically being with him. Your eyes began to well up, why did he come here? Was it just to taunt you or upset you? Had you made the whole thing up to try and construe that he really did love you and wanted to see you? Why were you so obsessed with this man that in reality you no longer knew anything about? It was fucking ridiculous of you to expect some kind of happy ending when most of your feelings about Sebastian were fantasies.
But it didn't matter. No matter how ridiculous it was you felt like you were falling apart from the inside out. Like this had always been here in your mind and all you had been doing was blocking out your feelings rather than dealing with them. He didn't want you, it was clearly some sort of joke. Sebastian always did like a little prank or something, and what better than fucking with you. You hoped he had found what he needed here, that he was happy. But Sebastian wanting you had never been real, not when you were younger and not now. You needed to just forget.
Sebastian was standing in an alley when he heard you scream his name. Lights started turning on in all the buildings surrounding you, people looking out of their windows at the mad woman. He couldn't believe his eyes, you were barefoot and running around trying to find him. As his eyes welled up he rubbed away tears but his eyes were so blurry he couldn't decide if it was a drunken delusion or reality. Sebastian sunk to the floor, it was still quite chilly but he didn't feel it. So numb to everything. As he waited for dawn to approach, he hoped his life would lead to something, that one day he would be a man you deserved.
Perhaps one day colours wouldn't fade out of the world, one day Sebastian would be truly happy. But today was not that day. He sat on the cold ground against a wall and bowed his head, his existence was a joke. When Anne was cursed he often felt like his days of any happiness had ended, like everything in the world was pointless without her being there to experience it. But he met you, he adored you and laughed with you. Life wasn't an endless void, there was hope. But he wasted it. He wasted all of it with his childish ways and pathetic inability to realise where his happiness was coming from.
The sky was slowly turning from gray to a sort of burnt yellow. You were nowhere to be seen and in some ways Sebastian thought that was for the best. The alcohol was really wearing off now and after taking one last deep breath he clumsily apparated back to his house which felt as cold as outside. He had forgotten to lock his door and the gusts of wind sent the door back and forth into the wall. Sebastian groaned, apparation when you weren't fully focussed hurt a ridiculous amount.
He looked up at the state of his ceiling, it was cracked and looked as if it would collapse in the coming months if he didn't fix it. Maybe he would stay here in this spot until it buried him, he couldn't plague your life if he was gone. Or maybe it would make it all the worse for you, a horrific memory of Sebastian drunk on your doorstep being the last. Why couldn't he just stop? Why the fuck did he go and see you so out of his mind?
“Enjoying your floor?” A voice suddenly asked and Sebastian made and terrified sort of scream noise looking over to the armchair where Ominis sat.
“Jesus Christ, Ominis.” Sebastian ran his hands down his face.
“Someone had quite the night, didn't they?” Ominis smirked and Sebastian felt like throwing a book at him.
“She told you then?” Sebastian asked.
“With a ridiculous amount of urgency, she contacted me. Told me a story I was convinced she dreamt about showing up at her doorstep drunk and wide eyed. But apparently it's true.” Ominis held his wand in front of him and stood up.
“Bet you enjoyed that. Me turning into even more of a disaster whilst the two of you are prospering.” Sebastian had some malice in his voice and Ominis shook his head, disappointed.
“You have no idea what she went through the last few years. Not that you cared you see how she was or even-”
“It was better she forgot about me. Last night was… it was a mistake. I shouldn't have done that to her.” He stood up and took a step closer to Ominis but he but his hand up.
“That's close enough, I don't know what you're doing, Sebastian. But you've opened a box you can't simply close. Y/n deserves an end to this chapter of her life at the very least. Stop this pathetic drunkenness with some sort of drug usage. Pull yourself together and end things properly. You were a terrible friend to me but even worse to her.” Ominis scowled at him before turning and leaving, he slammed the door as he left, leaving an audible imprint on Sebastian's mind. He was right, you did deserve more than what he did. But Sebastian had no fucking idea how to display that.

Sebastian had woken up with the biggest grin on his face. A rare occurrence, really, but no matter how hard he tried, he couldn't wipe it off his mouth.
Because today, apparently, was special.
He had been waiting for two weeks since his girlfriend had told him the news: at first Sebastian didn't really understand her ardour, but the delighted expression on her face was enough to propel the boy to match the enthusiasm completely.
There was a festival in her hometown: a celebration that, for one reason or another, had been impossible to arrange for about ten years. It was her favourite, she had said, because of its theme — a living re-enactment of old times, with dances and traditional clothing from her home — even more so now that she was chosen to be one of the people who was supposed to parade as an extra.
She was to wear a beautiful medieval tunic, and had to attend rehearsals everyday. As much as Sebastian wished to follow her there to see her hard work, she insisted that she wanted to keep it a surprise for when he finally saw her at the fest.
He had sulked a bit at that moment, but had been since then looking forward to seeing his beautiful girlfriend in an amazing dress.
He stood in the front row, having arrived early just to earn a perfect spot to bask in her splendid beauty ringside as soon as she came, and patiently waited for her to appear, nodding his head to the folklore music in the meantime. When the parade started, his body shook all over in anticipation, standing on his toes, eyes darting everywhere to catch a glimpse of his beloved.
And she was perfect.
Hair cascading in little twirls locked in a beautiful braid on her shoulder, adorned with a headband on the crown of her head, she smiled brightly, her lips shining with clear gloss. Her face was still natural-looking, with makeup that matched her features and made her look even more ethereal, and her green bliaut hugged her figure in ways that left little to Sebastian's imagination as his jaw fell open. It was tight at the waist, her corset even harsher around her flank under the kirtle, and adorned with a brown cincture knotted around her abdomen. Her only exposed parts were her cleavage, from which Sebastian could see a peak of her chemise, and her wrists, where the gown widened slightly. She moved with elegance and poise, careful to mind each graceful motion of her arm as she walked, and Sebastian felt his cheeks hurt with how wide his smile was,  almost tearing at the corners of his mouth.
A smile that fell as soon as his eyes darted away from her gorgeous figure.
The parade consisted of couples dressed in different ways, only interrupted here and there by close groups of musicians who accompanied them, and as such, she was on another's arm as she moved.
And, Sebastian noticed, he was very handsome — much more handsome than he was, with his chiseled jawline and elegant walk. He held her arm carefully as they walked together, chin up and perfectly in line, straight posture and measured walk. It was clear he had rehearsed for a long time.
And he had rehearsed with her.
Sebastian felt something sour and ghastly bubble in his stomach when they finally stopped. She turned to the man next to her, and he bowed gallantly at the waist before taking her hand in his.
The dance started. The musicians moved to the side, while the couples took their place in the midst of the plaza, moving from side to side at the fast paced rhythm of folklore music. When she went forward, he did the same, arms bending to meet. And then they stepped away together, extending their arms all the same, hands never separating. The steps of their frolic echoing in Sebastian's ears, thundering in his brain at the ease and preparation with which the couple moved together. She twirled in the man's arms, taking a step back and then twirled again on the opposite side, and Sebastian’s hands began to shake. Their manoeuvres were so measured, so controlled they must have rehearsed a lot. They must have spent a lot of time together to perfect it. Hours and hours, days of days of his beloved dancing with another man.
Panic seeped its way into his core: What if those days of rehearsal had awoken something in her? Something that made her realise that the man dancing with her was better than Sebastian in every way?
He didn't dare go further with his thoughts… but what if…
The crowd cheered, pulling Sebastian from his reverie, and he looked at her. And she was looking at him, too, wearing a bright smile, eyes shining as she silently asked him what he thought. Her forehead glistened a bit with sweat, a sign of her hard work, and Sebastian forced a smile on his face, nodding at her. She nodded back and turned to the man again.
A new dance began.
-
She had been on that man's arm most of the night, entertaining kids and adults all the same, dancing with him once a new folklore song started, and even re-enacting some play scenes along with the other extras.
Sebastian was left watching, embittered by the sight so much that, at some point, he had to completely avoid said sight.
Whenever he saw a glimpse of her beautiful figure, he would turn around and go into another alley, hoping to find some solace in the street food he had been shamelessly indulging in since the fest started.
"Sickle for your thoughts?" The man in front of him asked Sebastian at some point, after the brunet had visited his corn stand at least three times. "I can't give you another cob."
Sebastian scowled, but he had to admit the man was right. His stomach couldn't take it anymore.
"My girlfriend… she…" Sebastian began, kicking the dirt while the man stirred a huge cauldron of maize porridge. "She looks absolutely gorgeous today…"
"I hardly see how that's something to be concerned about," the man lifted an eyebrow. "Has the corn gone to your head? Why isn't your mesmerising girlfriend on your arm?"
"Because she's on another's arm," Sebastian blurted out, chewing on the inside of his cheek. "And I can't do anything about it!"
A beat of silence followed. Sebastian bit his lip harshly, while the man seemed to understand the situation. He handed the brunet another cob. "Maybe you do need another."
Sebastian's shoulders slumped and he took up the offer, defeated, biting on the warm kernels. "It's just…" he spoke, voice muffled by his full mouth as he moved the cob around frustratingly. "Today was supposed to be a celebration, and instead I'm here with you and those damn cobs!"
He took another bite and the man sighed. "Just go find her is my advice. You're a handsome lad, and the dress up time has been over for a while I reckon, so she can be yours for the rest of the night."
"What if she doesn't want to be?" The words left Sebastian's lips without hesitation. "He's much more handsome than I am! Maybe she's even… they're even…"
He didn't want to think about it, the idea making the back of his eyes sting a little.
"If she was, why would she invite you?" The man shrugged. "And don't finish that corn, you hear me? Give it to her before your stomach gives up on your body more than you've given up on your dignity."
Sebastian grimaced at the man's harsh words, but he could feel his stomach grumble in protest and he knew he was right. He reluctantly let his now-comfort food lay at his side in his hand, and he made his way through the decorated alleys, dragging his feet like some chained torture was pulling at him.
Maybe it was good if he found her — just to give her his corn, that was. It would have been a shame to waste it.
"Seb! Where were you?" She asked in concern once his legs came to a stop in the plaza. "You weren't at the plays. I just… did you not like them?" She asked, voice feeble and unsure, and Sebastian felt his stomach twist as he realised he'd failed her once again.
"I… got you corn," he retorted weakly, handing her the half-eaten cob.
She took it with a frown, and then she met his eyes with disbelief. "You ate corn all this time?"
Sebastian blushed deeply, before his chest turned cold again at the sight of the man standing behind her.
"You were with him all this time?" He asked caustically, shifting his weight on his leg and crossing his arms defensively.
She was at a loss for words. "What— are you serious right now?"
"Very much."
"He's my partner!" She claimed, raising her voice, the cob in her hands swinging dangerously.
"No!" He snapped, unwinding his arms and taking a step closer. "I am your partner!"
She gasped a few times, unable to retort as she saw the look on his face. He wasn't angry, despite his deep frown and lips pressed together. He was hurt.
"Sebastian," she sighed, stepping closer. "It's just a festival…"
"You danced with him," he responded, the heat radiating from her body making his resolve crumble. "You must have rehearsed a lot."
"Yes, for the festival." The hand that wasn't holding the cob of corn came to lay on his cheek, and he melted in her touch.
"Still, I didn't like the way he looked at you!" He hissed, gesticulating sharply, trying to restrain himself from pacing back and forth as he usually did. "You look gorgeous and…"
"Sebastian… he's married," she sighed, her thumb rubbing soothing circles on his cheekbone, "and he's like… five years older than me."
Sebastian was quiet at that, a small blush coming to rest on his ears when he realised. "So… well married men can… I mean…"
"Not him… trust me," she chuckled, now so close she could bump her nose to his. "Besides," she smiled, amused. "It's a small town, and he's my cousin."
Sebastian gasped, mouth falling open at the revelation. How stupid could he be? He had been sulking the entire evening, missing her plays and hard work just because… because…
"Were you jealous?" She asked, nuzzling his cheek.
Because he was jealous.
"I… I…" he stuttered. "I might have been… eating more corn than necessary."
She laughed against his skin, and he smiled fondly at the sound.
"Yes, I imagined that," she said, handing the cob to her cousin and taking Sebastian's hand in hers, guiding him through the alleys. "But no more corn now."
Sebastian frowned, confusion evident on his features, and she smiled at his face as she got a bundle of keys from the aumoniere hanging from her belt.
"It's my family home," she explained, "and it's empty."
She pulled him inside once she opened the door, immediately wrapping her arms around his neck once he was close enough.
"I'm just…" he began, feeling like it wouldn't be right to do anything without apologising for his behaviour. "I'm sorry I missed your plays," he whispered, feeling guiltier than ever as her lips pressed on his skin tenderly. "I should have valued you more…"
"You've seen the first two ones," she smiled and pressed another kiss on his jaw. "Last two were boring anyway."
"Still, I should have enjoyed them," he protested, returning her kisses. "And your dress, too… you look so beautiful… so…"
"Well… dress up time is over," she whispered, mouth hovering his. "Care to help me with that?"
Sebastian let out a low chuckle at that, smirking against her lips. "Oh, I'm so going to enjoy that."
He pushed his arm back and pressed his palm on the door, closing it loudly behind him.
