Once again, I am dissecting words, but the parallels and implications they hold are just.... too compelling. For the sake of this meta/commentary, I am taking the episode as it is played out before the reveal, wherein Spock truly believes he has killed Kirk. All of this is centered on Spock's pledge before the ceremony and his rejection of the Vulcan blessing and how those things are linked together by his life.

When T'Pau sees that Spock has brought two humans along with him to his marriage-or-challenge, she initially questions him about it with the implication that no outsiders are allowed to bear witness to the ceremony. But Spock declares them his friends, prompting T'Pau to say, "Thee names these outworlders "friends." How does thee pledge their behavior?"

Spock replies, "With my life, T'Pau."

Spock essentially vows that, should Kirk or McCoy completely desecrate their customs, he will pay for it with his own life. (It is, of course, unclear that if by doing so Spock is to die outright or that the rest of his life would be spent back on Vulcan under service to T'Pau or something of that nature. Regardless of the difference, it's still a kind of death for Spock to be limited to his home planet, away from the very people he has chosen as his friends.) The converse of this means that Spock has such complete trust in both Kirk and McCoy that he can offer his life as collateral for their behavior. What a bond! Wow!

The only one to die in the ceremony, as it turns out, is Kirk.

Now, this is what gets to me: between the Vulcan blessing--"live long and prosper"--and Spock's refusal of it, is the very thing Spock pledged earlier for the sake of his friends, his life. Now that Kirk--his friend--is dead, he rejects a blessing that speaks to the future. He has unknowingly kept his initial pledge after all: his life for his friend's sake, but it is now in reverse. Spock pledged his life for his friends, but now that one of them is dead by his own hands, so goes his life.

(Like. Had the episode taken the events to a negative conclusion, Spock won't prosper because he has killed his captain. Starfleet is hardly going to excuse the death of a captain due to a ritual they will have never heard of nor would Spock wish to speak of it, so Spock will be put on trial for his captain's death, and he would plead guilty to boot. Whatever punishment would await him, he'd take wholeheartedly, which would alter the rest of his future as a consequence. To say nothing of if it would later crack through his Vulcan training and leave him grappling with terribly strong and terribly dire emotions. But this is all supposition / I need to look for the fanfics about a tragic end to Amok Time. Or add it to my to-write/daydream about list shfgbdhjk.)

so I was talking to my friends when I noticed something. last episode half of eddie’s scenes were with chim and the other half were with buck. and like I had a moment of why this could be. I couldn’t help but think for two reasons.

1) they’re showing “healthy male friendship representation” vs buddies relationship bc so many buddie antis use that as ammo against buddie

you asked the question why ml only treats certain sentimonsters humanely and not the others and the answer is that it depends on how they were made. Sentimonsters that are replicating another person are made with the intention of having human knowledge and emotional capability. Whereas the sentimonsters that Gabriel creates are destructive beings that never had the emotional capability of a human. If the miraculous was used to make a sentidog it would have the brain of a real dog and it would have to be treated as such because sentimonsters are real too. I feel like ml has already shown that marinette and Adrien already changed their mind over sentimonsters in Ladybug. They gave shown sympathy for sentis. The real catch is how the peacock miraculous Is used. If the sentimonsters lack humanity and any kind of thinking capabilities then they aren't human really, they're monsters, which is different than Adrien's case because he has those. Those beings can be treated kindly but since Gabriel's intentions are harmful, it reflects on the sentimonsters.

Furthermore, say that the destructive sentis are not capable of humanity- they are still living beings are they not? Is there no other way to sort them out without getting rid of their existence entirely? And what about the senti Kuro Neko? Couldn't he have been tamed as a giant house cat?

I'm just not too fond of the idea of the only sentis that are shown to be sympathised with are the ones that look/are human. You've mentioned that the ones created by Gabriel are harmful but what if they were given back their amoks/wills? Would they remain harmful? I don't expect the show to dig deep into this but it's something that's been on my mind since episode Ladybug in season three.

their relationship feels very hmmm slowburn switch between ignorance and want? like collin is constantly intrigued by Jordan's kind of intangible warmth that's akin to that one high guy at a party you end up talking to in a corner the whole night because he's just so laid back and willing to chat without being pushy, judgemental, or annoying. a surprisingly great listener who laughs at your jokes and plays off them or calls back to them when you least expect it. and collin values that more than he thinks he does because he can be his usual in your face but also kind of awkward when he can't be sexton who gets judged for being too 'much' sometimes. so he really secretly not so secretly admires Jordan and constantly wants to be around him and his 'approval' because it makes him feel like he's right in his way of acting/just being. I think hmmm collin is one of those super athletes who's a super athlete because they're not well-rounded. They're called a super athlete not only for being a great athlete, but an obsessive one. They spend more time practicing than not only a normal player would but even a varsity player. They put all their eggs in one basket when they Could put maybe just one into another but that would require a shift of focus and They Can't Have That. They're Obsessed. Even at like five or whatever age he was when he asked for an alarm clock for Christmas instead of a toy like most kids would, sexton was Obsessed. His nickname 'Young Bull' basically describes him to a T. He keeps working, he's a gym rat. He runs to the narrow red and doesn't stop.

Because hes tied to a scope, he's very interested in those beyond it who are literally just regular people but not to him. But because he's tied to such a scope, it's harder for him to relate and be related to. Maybe that's why he clings to clarkson? Clarkson is supposed to be 'the weird one'.. he wears unique fashion, styles himself uniquely, has big unique eyes. He's a unique person and player. He's rounded yet not bland. He's still Different but.. relatable? Collin likes that a lot. Wants that a lot. Secretly not so secretly.

But Collin is actually... a lot weirder than clarkson. Hate to phrase it that way but it's literally like... collin just admiring clarkson for being a normal human being.
