Nature Heals Us
Tumblr media

Another podcast I think of alllll the time. Go camping. Change your desktop wallpaper to the forest. Spend free time in the park.
This podcast episode from Hidden Brain, Our Better Nature came out in 2018. It talks about the undeniable benefits humans receive from being around nature.
Community grows, and there are measurable numbers in crime reduction as well as lasting health benefits that are seen when people spend time around nature.
This podcast episode will blow your mind and hopefully make you want to be outside more often.

Why I love it: Similar to Invisibilia, Hidden Brain focusses on "invisible patterns", which usually refers to psychology or sociology. Whereas Invisibilia uses anomalies to pique our curiosity about what ordinarily happens, I find that Hidden Brain urges us to reflect on the ordinary things we never think about or have fixed beliefs despite not ever questioning them.

Most of us think we arrive at our beliefs through logic and reason. But there are forces that may matter even more: our feelings, our social networks, and our relationships with other people.🤝 With @affectivebrain's Tali Sharot + @cailinmeister https://t.co/teyFxNEa8u

Mise en place
Tumblr media
After listening to this Hidden Brain episode I tried out the mise en place method to automate the basic components of my working day to make achieving my goals easier. Structuring my work day ahead of time by laying out my desk before I go to bed has worked. Thanks to Prof Wendy Wood for sharing this tip. Here’s to making it easy for me to build associations and break bad habits! 🙌🏽

Sneak peek of what I’m working on. Maybe I was a hummingbird, because I’m so little (5, 3”) and my fluttering heart seems to be too big for my body. So I’m trying to tie these dynamic Trochilidaes into a heart shaped opalescent prism of light beams. Meditating on how my favorite artists illuminate the dark corners of who we are by recognizing both our strengths and weaknesses. Art unites our exterior and interior worlds, shows us that we are more alike than unalike, and fosters compassion, understanding and spiritual growth. Changing the narrative from that of fear and emergency; motivating each other to open our eyes to beauty, and wonder. After all, we are emotional creatures who define who we are by what we know through the stories we tell. Btw, if your still reading this, I think you might enjoy my most favorite podcast Hidden Brain 🧠 @hiddenbrain #artist #trochilidae #hummingbirds #wip #hiddenbrain #tiffanybozic #acryliconwood #paintingbirds
