TPoH Hiatus ongoing/health update

just to catch you up on the situation: physio has taped up my shoulder and gave my neck a good going over (they suspect that these areas are part of the cause of the pains in my lower right arm! who knew), the next page is WIP but no way will it be finished by tomorrow. I am however able to hold a pen again, but only for short amounts of time. I'll do little pieces of drawing when I can and then rest and stretch- eventually I should be able to get back to my usual routine but no easy way to say when that will be.

Good news is that I do not show significant signs of the dreaded CTS and she confirmed that I am doing all the right things, so I haven't been making it worse by accident! Phew.

Blog Update

Hello my lovelies,

As you guys know I went on hiatus from writing to try to get my health on track. I have had a few answers now about why I've been unwell and it turns out I have cancer, bowel cancer to be exact, and it has the potential to kill me. I'm going to put my writing on the back burner until I have gone through chemo and the major surgeries that I still have ahead of me.

I'm sorry to let you guys down and anything that I have floating around in my drafts I will try to post since they are mostly finished but all my series will be on indefinite hiatus until I am in the right head space to actually create again.

I know this post is terribly depressing but I am hopeful that I will beat this, I am not that old after all, I just need more time than I thought to get healthy and heal. I hope that I'll get back to posting on a regular basis before the end of the year and I hope you will still be here when I do. Please look after yourselves my loves I will be back eventually.

i’m coming back from my hiatus

i miss writing, as well as you guys, so i decided i’m coming back ! (after 4 days LMAOO)

i will be starting off extremely slow, just so i don’t overwhelm myself, requests are still closed until i pop out my current ones.

that is when i will release a list of the new addition of helluva boss characters that i will write for, and that is also when my formats for posts will change.

Mostly!

I've been in and out of doctors offices and the hospital for the past 2-3 months, which is in itself exhausting and not really conducive to writing. Add in the end-of-year holidays coming up, at least four more appointments in the next month, my child's first ever dance recital and all the prep that entails (way more than I thought), a cross-country trip to visit family, and some other personal stuff on top of all that, and I might still be a bit absent. I'm hoping by the second week of January I'll be back to some kind of routine, which hopefully means being more active here too. (Gotta build that dying-platform social media, amirite?)

But! Despite losing approximately 1/3 to 1/2 of my blood volume in the space of a month (0/10 do NOT recommend), I did actually get stuff done. Important stuff! I did DVpit on Discord, got requests, and actually got those sent out before the major hospitalization adventures. I polished up a finished manuscript and actually got it out to some beta readers. Excitingly, I also got my first two full requests ever, and got those sent off with minimal freaking out and rethinking my entire everything.

No word on the fulls yet, but the beta readers are all coming back with the same kind of feedback:

"engaging," "couldn't put it down," "hysterical," "cinematic," "powerful," and my personal favorite, "WOW." (if i had a nickel for every all-caps WOW i got on this manuscript, I'd have 3 nickels; which isn't a lot but it's weird exciting that it happened 3 different times)

Okay, I lied. My personal favorite was the single, solitary, italicized, "Holy shit."

So for once I'm feeling pretty good about myself and my writing! And that's in spite of one of my worries for this manuscript coming true: I got some details wrong and the Car People noticed. And yet! Despite something being egregiously wrong, they said they didn't care because the story was "so engaging it didn't matter." (Still gonna fix it, though. Now that I know, those inaccurate spark plugs will haunt me.)

I also managed to dust off an old project-- my oldest to date that's still functional as a story-- and figured out how to fix all the problems that led me to shelve it in the first place. I have a plan. I have a workable outline. I fixed the stagnant characters and plot and the massive plot holes all at once with minimal scrapping and without trashing my most favorite (and compelling) aspects.

Most importantly, I'm excited to work on it.

After finishing this latest project and then having my whole body fall apart piece after piece for almost a full quarter of a year, it feels like I haven't wanted to write in a long time, let alone been excited to do so. But here I am, getting words down and dusting off Spotify playlists. It feels really, really good.

So here's to the next few months. They might still be rocky and stressful, but I'm recovering in more ways than just the physical. I hope the end of the year brings you joy and peace in whatever ways you need it most, and that the new year finds you well and, most importantly, happy. If not, please know I'm here for you and rooting for you. My askbox and DMs are always open. <3

Heyo 👋 (Hiatus Update)

Hey! I'm still on my hiatus and probably won't be back for another week or so- no real dates or promises but more a vibe-but I wanted to pop in and give y'all a little update since my hiatus post.

I'm better, though not great- but I'm getting there. To be honest, it's kinda difficult to make this little update, and I'm not even going into details about anything, hehe.

The biggest thing I wanted to say is a huge, huge thank you to everyone. Your condolences and messages really helped me get through this, and while I'm still processing it all, I'm beyond grateful to y'all. My heart goes out to those who've lost someone beloved as well; be it a pet or a person- my heart goes out to you and your loved ones through these difficult times.

(God, and I thought 2020 was bad! /hj)

I think I'm gonna try coming back sometime in September/October? No promises but I think I'll be okay enough to return around then. How I feel upon posting this will be my deciding factor lols. I did finish the last few days of Tickletober (yay! :D) so that's something to look forward to, and I updated my Fluffy Forecast (even if I'm not on, I'll still update it for y'all- it gives me something to do, you know?)

Writing wise is still...hesitant. Some fandoms like Spy x Family and Buddy Daddies might be on the backburner due to recent events (that said, please don't be afraid to send prompts/requests in for them; I just likely won't be touching them for a hot minute), but besides that I'm slowly getting back into writing and creating again. My dad wouldn't want me to give up on my passions and life in his passing; he raised me to be strong, and I'm gonna do that for him.

Quick update!

I realized I got busy and dropped off the face of the earth so I wanted to let y'all know what I've been working on.

My first goal for the near future is to migrate all of the image hosting from Discord to File Garden. Image hosting on Discord was never meant to be a permanent thing anyway, but the recent update wrt legacy images on Discord has sort of forced the issue. MSPFA seems to have already done this on their end for archival reasons (so stuff won't straight up break when Discord implements the update), but I'd rather have it done in a way I have direct control over. I still am not considering File Garden a permanent solution either - I'd like to eventually host everything along with a full mirror of the comic itself on my own server/website in case MSPFA and/or File Garden go kaput - but this is a better solution than nothing at all. (I do have offline backups of everything, though, so don't worry about anything getting lost for good.) Secondly, I've been working on building a buffer before resuming posting. This has been slow going since my life has been a lot busier lately, but I want to be in a place where I can reliably post something every week for an extended period of time without rushing to get things done before resuming upd8s. Expect an announcement sometime in the next couple of months on when the comic will return!

Update on my hiatus

I am happy to inform you all, with only a few days into my hiatus, I’m already feeling miles better and motivated!

I still think I’m gonna be gone for a bit, but am hoping to come back potentially next week? If not, in two weeks.

I’ve spent a lot of time brainstorming a lot of things for this blog, which I am so excited to share with you all when I return!

Ah! I finally remembered to check if you are on Tumblr and got excited. I've been reading your Dangerous Souls fic since the beginning. I absolutely love it so far and can't wait to read more. I often struggle with finding good Ghost Hunt fics cause a lot are hard to read. But yours is amazing!

In the meantime I've been doing some light revisions on the current chapters and uploading them to AO3 and Wattpad.

Oh boy... Time for an update on the hiatus.

Hey guys, sorry it's been radio silence for... Oh my god, 6 months?! I really, REALLY had intended to come back at the end of January with new chapters and whatnot, but I have failed. Let me roll out the excuses and you can judge me from there.

So. December. I posted Chapter 14 of In Another Life, as well as 3x3, and I announced I would be going on hiatus until the end of January. The reason for this scheduled break was due to my sweet dog of 12 years being diagnosed with (according to the vet) stage 1 kidney disease. It hit me hard mentally, so I knew I needed a break.

Well, fast forward to January. I'm still really struggling with it and it's causing me writer's block. I decided I would extend my hiatus another month while I tried to get my mental health and his physical health under control.

Unfortunately, near the end of April, my sweet boy reached the stage of needing to be put to sleep. It's not clear how or why his supposedly stage 1 kidney disease progressed so fast, especially since I had him on a prescription diet and was providing him the best possible care I could. But either way, it got to a point where he was in too much pain, and the call had to be made.

As I am sure you can understand, this took my already fragile mental health and shattered it. It's been rough and I haven't felt up to writing or really anything creative. My grief is finally starting to resolve, so I'm starting, little by little, to start working on In Another Life again. The next chapter is still a bit away, and I would like to get a few chapters written before I start trying to make weekly updates, so I don't feel so pressured.

I hope you can understand and will patiently wait for the next chapter. I promise I am coming back - just not yet. I'll try to at least make another update on the hiatus status when I feel like I am getting closer to posting again.
