Under the Mistletoe

You had a crush on Megumi for awhile now. He was so stoic, mysterious, yet charming. Perhaps it was his bluntness or his passion for being a good sorcerer for his sister. But it didnt really matter. You heard him talk to Todo...he didnt care how his partner looked, he just wanted a good personality.

This year for Christmas, Gojo insisted on decorating campus, much to Yaga's dismay but he relented since there wasnt any stopping THE Gojo Satoru. There was garland, lights, and mistletoe everywhere.

Snow dusted the ground, crunching under your feet. You carefully stepped in the already made footprints by Megumi. You two had been friends, the two only first years before Yuji and Nobara came. You both went inside and passed under some mistletoe, it was always slightly out of sight before you were under it.

"Hey Megs—" You pointed up and he looked at you, scoffing slightly. "I'm not participating in that idiot's little game." He says and rolled his eyes before starting to walk. You stomped off the snow on your shoes feeling defeated. "You like Fushiguro~" Nobara taunted and you blushed looking away. "Is it that obvious? i wish it was for him." You mumbled. "We'll help!" Yuji and Nobara said in unison. "How?" "Trust us." Nobara grinned.

You trusted them, unfortunately. Their grand plan was putting mistletoe everywhere. Every doorway, each hall at least six feet apart. Megumi thought it was just Gojo being obnoxious as usual, nothing new to him. However it was a little odd that you were following him around though, but it wasnt anything new. You two were usually training together. He never stopped to care even though it was you standing next to him. You started to feel slightly discouraged, maybe you read too much into how he treated you? It was different than how he treated everyone else, maybe it was because he knew you longer?

It was inching close to Christmas and everyone seemed somewhat excited, a few people returning home, mainly just Inumaki. You were standing out, watching the snow fall. It was dark but the lanterns around the school were more than enough light. You heard footsteps behind you and recognized them as Megumi's. His footsteps were soft, years of training with Gojo, but also barely detectable, like a shadow of footsteps.

"Do you not like me?" You ask suddenly, unable to contain it, there was a hint of hurt in your voice. "What?" He looked at you confused. "Of course i like you." "Not like that...like romantically." Megumi cleared his throat and stared forward. "I've never...been good with emotions." He says softly, his hands in his pockets. "But i do like you. A lot. I just thought this would be corny to confess feelings in such a...juvenile manner." He said as he turned to look at you.

"I thought i should tell you instead of just, kissing you. We've faced death together, more than once...i thought i should tell you in a meaningful way...i suppose this is it now." You turned and looked at him. "And look at that." He looked up, mistletoe hanging above the two of you.

You looked at him and smiled slightly. "Yeah...look at that." You say softly. "Y/n, i really do like you." "And i like you too Megumi." He stepped closer and held your face in his hands before kissing you gently. His hands were warm against your cold cheeks which warmed you up and sent butterflies to your stomach.

Hi! MHA 406 is almost bad for my taste because of Bakugou. But One thing!

From now on I will just ignore EVERYTHING related to bakugou because it makes no sense any longer to get angry about it. Bakugou is horis pet character and the only character who truly matters to him. At this point bakugou is just the most horrible written gary stu character in shonen history and its clear that hori doesnt care about how shitty his writing of him is. Most of the mha fandom kisses bakugous ass anyway so the horrible writing about bakugous fake "death", his even more horrible written resurrecction and now in this chapter bakugous pain somehow making him able to create bigger explosions and making him faster just shows that hori can write whatever he wants about bakugou and the fandom will still eat this shit out of his hands! Like... I dont care anymore. So I will just do my best and from now on ignore this character as good as I can. If it will be suscessful is the other question, because horis writing of bakugou is just SO bad 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Anyway lets look at the actuall only intetesting part in this chapter. FINALLY we get a little bit more of afos and yoichis backstory and FINALLY we know 2ths name, because I was sick of calling him 2th all the time. My question is now is kudou his first or his last name? Because I think it would be weird if afo calls him by his first name. The only way this would make sense is if kudou once worked for afo and they were friends. Also interesting that we get 2ths name reveal before 3ths 🤔

Now I have the hope that we will soon get a little flashback "arc" or at least a few chapters dedicated about afos and yoichis past. Now about afos expression. Well LOOK AT MY MAN!!!

I LOVE how vulnerable he looks here. And its a smart move of hori to only show afos eyes (which for once dont look dead) again while the rest is in shadows. He doesnt want to reveal yet the utter despair on afos face when he realizes that his brother is DEAD! But you can clearly see in the way afos eyes and eyebrows are drawn how devasted he is. He is crying! To see the great demon lord and most dangerous super villain who ever lived with such an human expression is actually quite heartbreaking. It shows and confirms that deep down his demon lord facade is simply just a mask to hide his own human heart! Its nothing but an act to look strong and untouchable, so nobody could hurt him! Hori is showing us that, yes, this horrible bastard who did so many evil things to others is still a human deep down with feelings and emotional pain and who actually suffers. Thats how hori writes his villains and to me it was always pretty obvious that he would go the same route with his main villain. Afos demon lord facade is nothing but a coping mechanism to excuss his own evil actions and trying to distance himself from his own humanity.

This chapter confirms without a doubt HOW MUCH afo loved his brother. His only family! And the most interesting part is that afo wasnt even aware that HE killed yoichi. He was SEARCHING for him. He believed him to be ALIVE! Its his enemy who gives him the news that he murdered his own brother, but afo seems to be completly taken by surprise by this! There is just no way that afo actually REALLY tried to kill yoichi with full intent and backs up my theory that yoichis death was an accident or that yoichi sacreficed himself for someone else afo wanted to kill (like kudou and 3th) and then kudou took an injured yoichi to an other place where he died shortly after. Afo believed yoichi to be fine, he had NO IDEA his brother was dead! And it explains so much why afo is so obsessed with the ofa quirk. Its his only way to get yoichi back. The only thing that is left of him. His only way to make amends with yoichi and MAYBE even telling him that he is sorry for what he did!

He clearly still believes everything is kudous fault (what he is telling himself) like I mentioned already a few times in other posts. Kudou freed yoichi from the vault, filled his head with even more heroic ideas which in return made yoichi eventually even more reckless and putting himself in harms way. In yoichis eyes kudou and 3th are his heroes. What is the opposite of the hero? The villain! Lets remember that afo never called himself a villain while yoichi was still alive and even tried to put the blame on his followers when they did something horrible to others ("they did it on their own. I never told them to do it.") He was trying to keep his hands clean. But now Afo WANTS to be a villain, because in his mind its the heroes fault that his brother is dead! And maybe its not just that he wants to be a villain, but also that he believes he cant go back anymore. He crossed the line with yoichis death so to speak. He lost the only person that mattered to him. Why should he care for anyone else now? The world took everything away from him and thats the reason why he wants to destroy everyones happiness and future in return.

And if dfo is canon it could mean that inko and izuku were the first thing after 200 years afo cared about or even loved and saw as his last chance to leave his villain life behind him (him mentioning that he wants to retire). But then all might happend and izuku got ofa. Now there is most likely really no going back anymore.

INTERESTING. 

I don’t think we know about this festival yet. We get the flashback of Sakura in the ruins though, as expected, and that shot of Lava Lamp and Mokona dramatically glancing back is LOVELY. 

We keep getting these brief shots of Fai leaning all the way down to whisper with Lava Lamp, which is just delightful considering how obvious this looks with their height difference. 

Also I’m really loving the sheer level of himbo energy the marketplace guys are giving off. I think I instantly love them.

THIS page shows a closer look at how they’re really feeling. Lava Lamp has his suspicious stare going, Fai is whispering conspiratorially with him, and he glances to Kurogane to confirm he agrees with the plan. Loving, of course, that we’re still working with Kurogane’s hearing consistently just being better than everyone else’s. Because ninja. 

Also the shot of the ruin's shadow becoming stretched out and distorted in the sunset is 10/10, lovely metaphor.

Actually one thing we’ve skipped over here is anyone reacting to Mokona in any way. She wasnt speaking directly to them before in the marketplace but now she is, and they’re responding to her normally like anyone else. I’m 50/50 on whether magical beings are a regular sight in Clow and we just haven’t seen it yet, or if the people here just weren’t programmed to register her as anything different.

radagon is potentially a very very interesting character as like. a guy whos like the other half of a literal goddess and spent all of his life in her shadow, tried to build a family of his own with a woman he loved after being nothing but a leashed dog for his other half, but still ultimately chose to abandon his actual loving family with no hesistation for a chance to social climb into the Head position of an order he became a fanatical zealot for untill the very end. like yeah theres Potential there. but its SOOOOOOOOOO whatever and even a bit suspicious to me when people go like Yeah radagon actually wasnt that bad and marikas the real villain and radagon just tries to fix the ring to make things right again and marika forced him to do all that shit </3 like ok. n.1 boring and n.2 i love it when people demonize a woman character with obvious nuance but then give the benefit of the doubt to way more 2d man. awesome

It's a cold night.

Freezing.

It's gonna be like this for a couple months.

The mercenary shuddered in his small room. You could walk from one side to another in just 6 steps, which made just enough space for his bed, desk, and closet. Hank's room branched off their medics- Doc's room, to avoid problems once he woke up from being stitched back together.

Like violent outbreaks.

To keep the others safe.

But damn it's cold in here.

Hank's body doesn't make the heat it used to months ago, after repeatedly dying and being revived. His body got colder and colder every time he came back, but the warm weather made up for it- which made winter absolute hell ironically enough. His room didn't have a heater, and he didn't own one to plug into the wall, neither did anyone else. Since they have their lovely heat-generating bodies.

What time was it? The mercenary glanced at the clock across from his bed.

2:34 AM

These blankets weren't doing much to help him warm up. No matter how many layers of fabric he had to cover him, Hank would never be able to warm up.

…on his own, that is.

Hank's brows furrowed in deep thought. Would it be weird? They've only been together for what- two weeks? Relationships weren't his greatest subject, so he wasn't sure what to think. He let out a huff of annoyance, being confused felt horrible. He flicked the blankets off him, and made his way to the door.

He poked his head out, the soft red glow from his goggles slightly illuminating his face. Stepping out of his own, he scanned Doc's room, still unsure of what he was doing. The floor was cold under his paw pads, silently making his way to his partner's bed. Hank had no plan, no idea what he would do. Should he climb in bed with his medic? Should he wake him up first?

He studied Doc's face, he looked… peaceful. Unbothered. Soft. Warm. Hank's hand twitched, he felt a sudden need to have the smaller man in his arms, to hold his face, to be close to him. His heart stopped when the medic shifted in his sleep.

Is he waking up? Why is he waking up? Did I stare at him too hard? Arrghh-

"The hell are you doing?"

Hank blinked, looking back at his partner's- now awake- face. Oops.

Doc looked up at the shadow hovering over his bed, its bright red eyes gleaming at him.

Thats his boyfriend, staring at him in his sleep. Like the weirdo Hank is.

Just a month ago this would've made his fur stand on end and freak him out, but now all he wanted to do was go back to bed.

Hank started to panic, was Doc upset? Maybe he should just go back to his room, but that would be awkward… but not really? What part of him wasn't strange? It was pathetic really, a whole mercenary, unable to tell his lover he couldn't sleep because of the cold. Doc was looking at him like he was waiting for something? Oh, right… um.

"Im cold"

Stupid. Why did I say that. What is wrong with you.

"…You're cold?.."

He probably thinks im being weird, I should just go back-

"You can sleep with me if you want, it's okay"

Oh.

Doc gestured for Hank to climb in bed, gently pulling his hand. The medic smiled sleepily, making room as Hank settled down beside him. He wasn't kidding, Hank's skin was cold to the touch.

"Poor thing, why didnt you tell me?" His voice rough from waking up, Doc shifted to face his body towards his partner, who glared back at him.

"Are you making fun of me?"

"No, i'm not making fun of you," So defensive. Doc tried to stifle his giggles, burying his face into a pillow. He looked back up to Hank, putting a hand on his masked face. Cold, so cold.

"Were you too shy to ask?" The medic asked slyly, smiling even wider once Hank furrowed his brows again.

"No, I wasnt shy. I just… thought it would be weird."

Now Doc was raising his eyebrows, "you thought it would be weird to sleep with me, the guy who so happens to be your boyfriend." Hank blinked, and pushed his face into Doc's hand. Warmth.

"I dunno. Stop making me feel weird." Feeling sheepish, Hank's face heated a little. I guess it wouldn't have been that strange for me to ask to sleep with him. The taller man sighed, and pressed his body into Doc's. Warm, so damn warm.

"Yeah, this is what you've been missing out on." Doc rubbed his thumb over where Hank's cheek would be, he felt a little bad for him. Hank's room wasn't the warmest, but he didn't realize his body stopped warming up as much as it should. Should've invited him to sleep with me.

"Do you feel better?"

Hank nodded, wrapping an arm around Doc's back, pressing them so close together it felt like he'd never be cold again. He let the medic pull his mask down, the light touches of his fingers made Hank's heart flutter. Doc set a hand on his jaw, letting his heat seep into the cold metal, and pulled him closer for a kiss. The feeling of Doc's lips against his own made the warmth in Hank's chest grow, he pressed deeper, savoring the taste of his lover.

Once they pulled their faces away to breathe, Hank buried his face into Doc's neck, his fur soft against his scarred face.

"I love you."

Gentle hands stroked the back of Hanks neck, and wrapped around his back. "I love you too," replied Doc's voice. There was another sound, a trill. The medic was purring, low and a little rough, as if he hasn't done that in a long time. For once, Hank felt comfortable, warm, happy, and safe. He finally drifted off into a deep sleep, the best he's had in months.

This may be odd to say. But it is clear (to me!!) that you care about the sauce boss a lot in your art and find a lot of comfort in who he is. The way you draw his eyes & hair specifically really calls to your attention to detail that's present in all of your art. It doesn't come across as parasocial in the slightest either - you just genuinely like what he does and play with the idea of the dude and aren't weird about his personal life. Idk maybe I'm not making sense but it's nice to see.

Also, your art really does reflect the same type of feelings as Sachiko Kaneoya's captures, in my opinion. Your use of line work and shadows also speaks to the ukiyo-e prints of the Edo period of Japan, though I'm not sure if that's intentional!! Specifically, the Takiyasha the Witch print is what the shadowing reminds me of.

Lastly, the dedication to your projects and work as a whole is so impressive. I've been here for a while following your art and watching the progress has been so cool. Your colors have become a little more cohesive and pull pieces together - they always have, but the grasp on color theory is clear there. Seeing that you're going to college to pursue what you put so much work into is the dream and I really hope it works out!!

I'm so sorry for how long this is and if it's weird, absolutely don't feel the need to respond especially since you can't shorten the post and I can't get it under a readmore. thank you for appreciating my art of vincent, i usually mention this but a lot of times i mostly draw inspired by his music rather than him as an internet personality which is why i end up making these edgy pieces but in general he does mean a lot to me in the most normal appreciate way possible both as a musician and as a streamer, i try not to streamline the way i draw him too much so im glad the small details are noticeable

i can confirm i get inspired (and always have been honesly) by kaneoya sachiko's works if it wasnt obvious enough but i am also happy to hear that i can give off a similar vibe, not because i want to give off the exact specific vibes of her artwork but rather some of similar tones and types; as for the other thing that actually isnt on purpose, id have to look into artwork from that period but thats one hell of a compliment tbh

An analysis on Morishige

Hello, I am going to be analyzing Sakutaro Morishiges character. I will be discussing why I like his character, as well as a headcanon of mine. Without further ado let's get this started

If it wasnt already obvious, morishige is a layered character. I really like his character because hes interesting. He appears as just the regular stereotypical "anime protagonist with black hair and glasses" but then later in the game he begins to lose his sanity and finds comfort in the dead, aswell as being fascinated by it. I also relate to him a little because he never really fit in and was always an outcast, and I relate to him in that sense. It's also shown that he cares very deeply for mayu and would do anything to protect her, so when he found at that she had died he had went fully insane and jumped out the window. Another thing I think is interesting is that he is autistic-coded, And as an autistic person myself I really like his character for that.

Why I think hes autistic:

I have reasons to believe that he is autistic. as shown in corpse party 2U he has a very deep love for filmmaking and drama. when they were filming for the play he was very determined to get everything just right and went on alot of rants about acting and film, so I believe that film is his special interest. He also has a lack of empathy and struggles with social cues. He always viewed himself as an outcast his whole life even, and that is a common experience for autistic people such as myself. And in book of shadows he mentioned how before being transported to heavenly host he always felt he needed to act like everyone else and pretend to show empathy, which can be portrayed as masking.

Debunking:

You may be thinking "he is bad because he wanted to kill yuka and his whole thing with corpses" and I completely understand if you are thinking that, but in blood covered/ blood covered repeated fear he never intended to kill yuka, in respect of his freind satoshi (as stated by the fandom wiki) and I personally believe that the whole corpse thing was partly due to the darkening, though even if he never wanted to kill yuka and his actions were possibly partly due to the darkening, this does not hold him above judgement and he isnt all good, and we should understand that.

Or you may be thinking "but in Book Of Shadows he wasnt only being comforted by the dead, but was obsessed with the gore" but my theory is that this is partly due to the darkening, but even if it is, this is only an explanation for it, not an excuse, and like said before, he still is not above judgement for his behavior, and it still should be brought up.

Final conclusion:

Morishige could be an example of a morally grey layered character. His violation of the dead should not be justified and I do not like that part of him, but in theory this could've possibly been caused by insanity and darkening (I'm not entirely sure though). Overall he is a very intriguing character.

I had found out about CS Pacat while searching for art work inspiration for my own story and that's how I found the Captive Prince Series and then I saw Dark Rise in books a million and I was instantly caught by the cover. I love any story with darker morally complex (not gray: I could and will make a post on that) characters.

I put off reading it for while because I'm very much a mood reader and this past week I decided you know what let's dive in.

So I'm going to go through each character and what I think of them because I am 100% a character reader. This will be for both books Dark Rise and Dark Heir (also please note i did audio book so I may spell things wrong)

Let's start with our main boy:

Will:

I find Will so interesting and complex. It's hard to tell if what he is doing is because he truly doesn't want to be like Sacien or if this is all apart of Sacien's "will". I find it very interesting that Will's name is well, Will. At the same time it's seems to me that Will is trying so hard to NOT be who he was in his past life. At the end of Dark Heir when he gets outed and he thinks James is the one person who actually accepts him and finds out he has the collar on (I have thoughts on that but I will get to theories later on) it's devastating. I think for both Will and James they want to not be judged for the choices their past selves made.

On that note James:

James is probably my favorite character.

He is snarky and smart and brave and everyone treats him terribly except for Will. He is either treated like a wh***, a weapon (though Will is guilty of this), or a traitor. He's something to be owned, to be possessed. He is paying for the actions of a past he can't even remember (until the very end) when the collar was put back on him i was so upset, but knew it wouldn't work the way St. Claire wanted.

Violet:

I liked Violet more in book one. Im.curious about her inpending "fight" with Tom and if and when that will go down. I was hoping she would be the one to stick behind Will and not judge him. (Though i feel she's going to be the first to go back, if Will really is trying to be "good")

Cyprian:

Cyp Cyp... I really didn't like him.at first. But.now I do. However, I find him complex as well. I love his dedication to his believes and his loyalty and obvious love for Violet. I hate his judgement of James, that he blames him for Marcus and the other Stewart's and doesn't think about why James might have left. (Their father tried to kill him when they found out he was a reborn) ... on a different note him drinking from the cup, wrestling the shadow, jumping down that whole and breaking the "staff" and dragging Will back up like he was a sack was pretty bad ass.

Katherine/Visander

Let's start with Katherine: I wish we'd had more time with her. I didn't feel very connected to her so when she died i wasnt that upset. Visander seems so one sided in his goals and thoughts. It's like has blinders on. He doesn't think that maybe Devon has changed in 1000+ years or that things might have changed. He is stuck in the past. His relationship with Philip is interesting especially with him being in Katherine's body (which is very weird and im not sure how I feel about it)

Elizabeth: she can be annoying but she is.also 10 years old. For her age she is a very smart and brave young lady and im excited to see where her story goes.

Tom:

I feel like I am grappling at straws for more information on Tom. I want more. How much does he truely know? Is he niave? What does being a "lion" mean. He clearly loves Violet

Devon: he interests me more than anyone. His story is tragic and sad. Hunted and having his horn cut off... they say it was by humans but I have thoughts (theories later) and then living through all those years alone. It's pretty tragic. He seems to have a very loving and trusting relationship with Tom from what I can tell (I do hope I'm reading that correctly)

So thoughts and theories and all that and there's no Rhyme or Reason to any of this:

I am starting to wonder who the real bad guys are: I don't think it was really Sacien. I wonder if it might actually be the Sun King or whatever he's called. I wonder in book 3 of with James remembering the past if we won't learn the truth. Because something is up.

I despise Will's mother. She raises this child, ties him to beds, tries to kill him. All for the supposed mistakes of a past life he can't recall... yeah f**ck her.

I think the Stewart's are sus. Did they hunt down Devon and saw off his horn? If not how did they end up it?

What exactly is the white death and if it's evil how did Visander come back if he is good?

What's up with Grace?

I'm firmly convinced that Sacien/Anharian Will/James is like a "You have to have shadows with light" James is the Light and Will is the Shadow they are supposed to compliment each other. I think someone fucked with history but we will see.

Basically, I really enjoyed these two books, and I am desperate for any news on book 3

i watched it a second time, the first time was with one friend, the second was with both my best friends

obsessed with the way spot became the villain

the music, the visual change from white-with-black-spots to that really wiry, black Goya-esque style

It really felt like a reverse of the street fighter "for you it was the worst day of your life, for me it was a tuesday"

I love how terrifying they made him feel, moving on from this dorky silly character - which is also to say people familiar with his comics also just kinda thought he wasnt that great of a villain just lame and weird - and turning him into this superpowered villain. I also love the pettiness of his villain reasoning, part of it being yes he lost his friends and family and job and cant participate in regular society looking the way he does, but also just the "ill show you" attitude of being made fun of. I wonder if hes using that pettiness as a shield from the fact he did, in fact, Lose Everything when he became the spot.

the painterly style of gwen's world was incredible, i love the muted pink and blues, i LOVE the way it started to look like dripping watercolor on a harrowing, sad scene, the color emphasizing emotion between her and her dad, the way she was in light where her dad was covered in shadow.

Framing Miguel's face the way they did his reveal, showing the happy dad and closing out the screen to see this very tired, worn out man. I LOVE a spider-man becoming an accidental villain out of the desperation of holding everything back together, he weight of the multiverse crushing his shoulders, feeling like hes the only one to be able to make the worst of the worst decisions that are necessary (that we know of) to survive.

Pavitr didn't have a lot of screen time but I do like how quickly they were able to get us to know exactly who he is and where he is in the spiderman story; he's still very much a kid having having fun with these new powers.

i LOVE that the comic sound texts (thwip, pow etc) was written in Indian script in Mumbattan

I love all the subtleties in Hobie's design. Every tactile thing he dos changes his color scheme, sometimes he has photocopy lines masked on top of him, which is such a cool touch - punk art styles used photocopiers which is where we get that classic grainy, high-contrast black-and-white look for a lot of punk art.

He also isn't just. Stealing to steal. Like yeah its obvious he took those parts in order to make his own kind of watch (which btw I love that it was on a spiked arm band) , but his entire character is a lot more intelligent than i think a few people assume; hes giving off a casual demeanor, but it feels like hes playing 4D chess while everyone playing checkers like the way he guides and goads Miles into learning to use his palms for the venom strike, it wasn't just foreshadowing it felt super deliberate, in addition to him trying to caution Miles gently away from the Spider Society without being angry or upset Miles wasnt listening.

I cant wait for this to officially release, Im going to go in frame by frame for some of these incredible scenes.

has ronan known that he is more than human? idk i kinda had the impression that he def didnt know about himself. he knew he was a dreamer, he obviously knew niall was is dad, so when and how did he learn about himself? thats what i completely missed somehow lol and how did adam get that too? when they were in the dream space?

what actually was the lace?

why did ronan have the nightwash? did it stop now after he knew what he was and saved the earth and all that? was it because he was too powerful and so he needed to be close to the power source aka ley line? and now he can be "free" bc he knows what he is and he chose to be human basically or more human with powers or such?

mór, niall, and the forest all created ronan together. his appearance was mór's contribution - it says she modeled him after a photo she had seen of niall as a toddler

i could be forgetting something but i don't think this is entirely clear in the book, i.e. i don't think there's any sort of inciting incident like ronan didn't know what he was and then this one specific thing happened and now he does. i think it was more of a gradual realization that came to him little by little during his time in the dream space. my understanding is that - being an ancient, all-knowing entity - he probably always had the capacity to "unlock" this knowledge but he had been pushing it down all his life because he wasn't ready to come to terms with it. his journey of self-acceptance in this trilogy culminates in him discovering who he is because he finally loves himself enough to handle the revelation. as for adam, i'm sure he understands that ronan is Something More because he's smart and because of their interactions in the dream space, but i don't think he knows exactly what that "something more" is. it probably has to be explained to him in detail off-page after the events of the book

i feel as though the lace is to hennessy as bryde is to ronan, i.e. a manifestation of all of her most negative thoughts and feelings. that's why it physically resembles the shadows from her most painful childhood memory. her suffering is so profound that this manifestation grows powerful enough to sustain itself in the dream space and affect other dreamers. i may be completely wrong but that's my understanding

nightwash doesn't only affect ronan - we know it happens to other dreamers, too, because hennessy also gets it when she doesn't dream. i think even after the events of this book, ronan would still get nightwash if he stopped pulling things out of his dreams. dreamers can't ignore what they are. he's "free" now in the sense that he accepts who he is; no more nightwash not because it doesn't exist anymore, but because he always allows himself to dream freely

if its not obvious gen 5 is my favorite gen, for all the reasons most people hype it as the best gen. and i agree it totally is the best gen!

i gotta say sv is my second favorite now. it was just. Hough. aside from the obvious ways this game actually sucks, all the glitches and lagging and all that. what the game does well, it does REALLY well.

getting some gripes out of the way first. as good as the story was, nemona really got the short end of the stick here?? this didnt make me like her any less, i love her just as much as penny and arven, but just. unlike penny and arven she doesnt have as much story. she finds a good rival in you the protag and thats kind of it??

i do like sv's art style its nice the game was very pretty but. i do prefer the swsh art style HWJBDHF. i played sword for a bit two days ago to battle a friend and i just missed it. wouldnt mind if this was the style going forward but also want the old one back yknow

taking away the shiny sound is Stupid. i encountered a shiny voltorb and almost went past it because i was jumping and was going so fast i barely saw it in the bottom of the screen. i also tried the mass outbreak strategy today on a mimikyu outbreak, thought i found a shiny because a mimikyu looked grey, but it was just sitting in some shadows.

WHERE ARE THE CLOTHING OPTIONS...... was the school uniform only rule just an excuse to make less clothing options. i'm in hell man. thank god i picked violet i didnt like the orange on the outfits in scarlet.

the whole choose your own path thing they pushed as a selling point is kinda moot if the levels dont scale. also put me in a STUPID situation: for the water gym, you travel across the desert to another town, and that desert has a titan in it. so i thought hey, if these paths converge, surely its because its the next intended stop, right? iron treads wiping almost my whole team in its first phase probably isnt a sign that i'm not supposed to be here, right?? arven sent out a level 44 scovillain while i could only contribute Intimidate from my lv 22 staravia. i ended up using a guide to show me the "correct" path near the end, which was good bc i asked the pokemon center lady for my next destination and she told me to go fight Grusha and his lv 45 or so pokemon while my team was still in the 30s. thanks nurse joy for trying to get my ass kicked

onto everything i Did like though

i really loved this cast of characters!! all of them felt very unique i got attached to a lot almost instantly. i didnt think i'd like clavell all that much but oh my god he's so brilliant actually. arven stole the show though houghguhguhgu i cried THREE times because of this dude. will also say i ADORE grusha, rika and iono, and extra shoutout to that one greavard in the ryme fight. he was GROOVIN

i think the open world was handled Very well. traversal is a little awkward at times, miraidon sometimes doesnt cling to cliffs i jump on and said jumping can be clunky, but other than that, i thought the environments were very pretty (especially liked the gen 1 icon mosaics in that one town thats so cute). as someone who gets overwhelmed by open world games it also wasnt as overwhelming as others have been? i think i saw some people saying it wasnt enough, and i can see why they'd think so but if the map was any bigger i think i personally would have enjoyed it less haha.

noticed some altered pokemon animations which is small but very nice! i remember seeing it on lucario, gardevoir and the eeveelutions where they stand in more of a battle ready pose rather than. Just Standing There.

the pokemon designs were pretty hit or miss for me this gen but maybe i just need some time to warm up to them. but i do ADORE the future forms. hydreigon and volcarona look SO sick, i love how iron valiant mixes both gallade and gardevoir, and i just think its funny that they also included. Delibird. inbetween all these other powerful pokemon. havent seen any of the scarlet versions though i'll look them up later

i dont know if its true but it feels like theres a lot more Unique things about pokemon in this gen, like forms, moves and abilities? like maushold's and tatsugiri's forms, lots of evos got given to older pokemon. when eri sent out an annihilape i was STUNNED. i also appreciate the fact that all forms of a pokemon get a different dex entry. i want to try collecting all colors of flabebe and its evos for example, i somehow feel more rewarded when i get a new dex entry every time, even if it is kinda the same thing but rephrased.

ok now just. the STORY. i'm still an absolute mess over the ending i just. AUGH. i havent played a pokemon game spoiler free for so long, i did accidentally find out cassiopeia was penny a bit too early but it was late enough that i was connecting the dots already. but the ACTUAL ending with turo holy shit???? turo's message glitching at the fourth lock was creepy as hell. finding him slumped in that chair, him telling you the real turo is DEAD and what you've been talking to this whole time, what ARVEN resented for all this time, was an ai that just couldn't physically leave area zero? then the whole FIGHT with him, the way that textbox glitched out when the paradise protection protocol took over, him actually starting to terastallize himself was so??? being forced to leave as well even though he'd just reunited with arven, since he was tied to the time machine and part of why it would reboot every time it was disabled, but also because he still had the original turo's desire to study the future but had been trapped in area zero for so long. checking turo's lab before heading to the time machine shows theres a picture of arven and maschiff on the desk.... :(

(wondering how scarlet handled it actually. is sada also an ai? just assuming its different because the ai thing fits turo's futuristic stuff. i'll look it up sometime, i really wanna see how these cutscenes differ between versions)

ARVEN my god i. many thoughts head full. thought he was just gonna be the asshole rival but ohhh i was wrong. he's the guy ever. mabosstiff's recovery scene made me CRY, and then i just cried AGAIN at his meeting with ai turo. how old even is arven, how long has he just been. Alone. with no one but the miraidon he percieved as the one who destroyed his childhood, and the mabosstiff that was once his only true companion but couldn't even open its eyes anymore. crying over arven's story isnt enough i need to explode

arven's story was my favorite but i have to mention starfall street of course. i love all of team star so much it was so good going through and unravelling why team star does what they do. also team star boss battles were actually kinda difficult?? i was pretty underleveled through most of the game bc i was rushing a bit but WOW. i only won against eri because she Happened to use shift gears again despite near maxed stats already instead of just going for the kill.

anyway tldr. yes i understand this game is kinda garbage in that it was super rushed and glitchy and clearly unfinished on release but its just? the most fun i've had with a pokemon game in a while?? easily a top favorite of mine

i stopped playing right after the credits rolled, so if there's postgame, i dont know about it. i'll get around to it tomorrow

one extra thing i almost forgot actually! when explaining the time machine turo tells you a human could travel one way but is unable to return to the present. this is SO goddamn cruel of game freak to put in the game RIGHT AFTER POKEMON LEGENDS ARCEUS. maybe its different for people sent over by Gods, maybe arceus can circumvent this or smth, but since its the only time travel related crumb we have right now this is super distressing!!! are you telling me pla protag and ingo were on a one way trip this whole time!!!!!! fuck you put them back!!!!!!!!! finding out this lore tidbit on the same day some new pla art that includes ingo came out is so, so, SO mean

I finally got around to binging your wwdits fic, and - holy shit man - it's incredible. I enjoyed every sentence; I loved the repeating motifs and symbols and the fucked up pseudo-religious dreams that Guillermo had. I always enjoy canon for what it is, but I often feel the comedy takes away some of the real heartbreak the characters have experienced. If wwdits was going for a more serious framing, THIS kind of fic hits the nail on the head. Rewriting the master/servant dynamic into something new - something not based on a doomed transaction - freshened the whole thing up for me, though I appreciate that you still kept them Weird. Really scratches the itch of adoration borderlining into horror. 10/10 would read again

- gladio is big on quality time and gifts, he shows love by including s/i in his life in various ways, whether it be dragging them around to camp/forage, or trying to get them to train with him or read with him. he loves both giving and receiving gifts, before the fall he wasnt scared to flash that blue blood money and shell out for expensive gifts, after the fall though he’s more prone to giving some random thing he found on his travels. he appreciates any gifts he gets but gets super excited about ones with practical use; camping gear, the next book in a series he needs, clothes to replace his damaged ones.

- s/i is big on quality time and words of affirmation. with everything going on, time spent together is time spent well. gladio & s/is words of affirmation to each other definitely appear weird to others due to the tough love nature, but it works for them.

🧑‍🦰 - Have they ever dyed their hair? Ever cut it themself?

- for gladio, no. his father was strict about gladio keeping up appearances when he was a teen. he thought it would be cool to cut his own hair or dye it, but it never happened.

- s/i has definitely cut their own hair before; “i dont have the money to get it cut”, “too busy surviving so just gonna chop it with a pocket knife”, it looked bad. also dyed their hair before the fall.

💓 - What are some signs they’ve fallen for someone? How do they show their affection?

- gladio gets lost in thought more, it makes him introspective. outwardly, his flirting changes, it becomes more specific and geared to s/i, instead of generalized or casual, starts taking any and every opportunity to show off. shows his affection by adding s/i to list of people he’d take a hit for, tries to talk to them more & gives them practical knowledge to improve their chances of survival. tries to get s/i to spend more time alone with him by putting up/taking down camp or taking walks.

- s/i is less obvious. they start avoiding gladio as much as possible, to the point where everyone becomes suspicious of why. pretty opposite in this respect except for one way s/i shows affection is also adding gladio to the “i would take a hit for you” list. tries to show affection by indirectly helping, or helping from the shadows.

🤡 - What’s something dumb they’re embarrassed about?

- gladio has very good spatial awareness BUT he’s also massive and prone to bumping into others or accidentally elbowing them. has definitely bumped his head/face on a door frame or two. fully aware of how bad he stinks after a couple days of endless fighting or no access to a bath, tries and fails to cover it up with cologne.

- s/i is embarrassed about how they communicate with the bros & other characters. often says things without thinking but only is embarrassed when people point out they said something weird.

💤 - What do they absolutely need to have to fall asleep?

- gladio is versatile and can sleep any time any place, he just needs to eat not long before sleeping and he’s generally good to go. he doesnt “need” it but wants a good amount of space so he can stretch out.

- s/i is the complete opposite, falling asleep in the regalia when they didnt get enough sleep the night before. needs some sort of background to sleep at the very least. doesnt mind sharing sleeping space but also wants some space to themselves.

💘 - What do they find attractive about their partner(s)?

- gladio likes when s/i returns his energy. playful quips are a steady occurrence and he likes when s/i returns it. he also likes how stubborn s/i can be, even when it works against him. attracted to the ability to balance seriousness and levity.

- s/i is attracted to a lot of the same qualities, but really attracted to the gladio that appears when you can tell he’s resting or enjoying himself. also likes how gladio is mostly level headed, but when he feels someone he cares for has been wronged he’s ready to dish it out.

💖 - How and how often do they try to impress their partner(s)? How and how often do their partner(s) impress them?

- gladio is a show-off, not always to impress s/i, he prefers trying to impress thru small gestures, remembering small things about s/i, offering to pay for s/i, or thru practicality. he relies on showing off as their relationship progresses, and goes to things that will materially help s/i after. while. doesnt put too much pressure on intentionally impressing s/i, lets it happen naturally and it works. is impressed by either feats in battle or someone’s attitude in certain situations.

- s/i doesnt make purposeful attempts at impressing gladio. if he is impressed by something s/i does, s/i is always like “was that really impressive???” but takes the win anyways. s/i is impressed by a showing of kindness or being outspoken.

🥰 - What pet names do their partner(s) use for them? How flustered do they get by them?

- both are a fan of jokey nicknames for the other. especially if it will embarrass the other in front of the bros lmao. otherwise

- gladio is a fan of the classics, “babe” is his go to but also a fan of sickeningly sweet ones like “sugar” or “buttercup”. introduces s/i as his “boo”. as he gets older and the relationship gets older too, he relies on the more romantic classics like “sweetheart” or “dearest”. every once in a while, he’ll see a nickname in a book he reads and tries it out.

- s/i most just prefers calling him his full name, gladiolus. mostly just adds “my” to any sort of descriptive phrase, “mountain man” to “my mountain man”. calls him flower boy and never lets go of it. “sweetie” and “hon” are the more classic ones s/i sticks to.

- 🗣️ - How do they handle public speaking?

- gladio is fine with public speaking. he’s pretty extroverted and very good with people. able to get the point across convincingly and clearly. depending on what he’s talking about he might feel pressure or anxiety but you wont catch a trace of it in his speech.

- s/i can do public speaking if necessary. not great at it, but could be worse. does a lot better if it’s a talk from the heart topic than reading some script.

like yeah i agree that kaz absolutely has a heart, but i think those acts of kindness are mostly reserved for the people he loves, even if wylan is new, you can tell he's already warmed up to him, and i really dont think he'd do something kind just because for someone he feels indifferent to at best, much less someone like a king, and wait omg i just remembered he's friends with sturmhund i take it all back, he would indeed give it up for his friend. and yeah youre right about wesper it was adorable, but i dont know i needed the slow burnnnnn, but yeah given netflix penchant for with gay shit, it was necessary.

And about everything else, yeah it made sense but it was really rushed, especially in s2, and like i get that they have to make everything as fast as they can in case it gets cancelled but im sad about it, but i just really hope malina does meet in the meadow in the end, cause at this point, this show is uncharted territory and completely new and i am so excited for it, and i think that was just setting up for nikolai i bet they will make him all scary later, or at least i hope. But like MERZOST!!!!! ALINA WTF!!! i loved the shadow cut it, like alina i love that youre very powerful but pls try not to turn evil, and like shes heading exactly in the direction the darkling said she would go which is so scary and obvious in a good way i love it. And omg the darkling, like in the books its neither easy to not root for him except maybe when he dies, but here omg, you're telling me he actually felt something for alina and it was not just manipulation!!!

Also Ben Barnes makes it really hard to not be on his side, Alina is waay stronger than me, "Make me your villain", for you? anything, also very simp i loved it, so its okay they omitted a lot of his character and relationship with alina, as they basically made a new one which i like. and about the white hair thing, it was iconic!!! i needed it!! but its okay, also i think the darkling probably experienced some shit associated with his power, but probably never like that cause the only amplifier he used was his mother, and it wasnt until he used merzost he became unstoppable, and it was slowly taking its toll on him, so slowy at first that it might have even been a plot hole, cause later it starts eating him from the inside.

Anyways Ice Court Heist is coming omgomgomgomg im so excited, i cant wait to see something really serious happening with nikolai and alina, and the crows just, just, yeah. i love them. i love jesper and wylan (the characters not their relationship in this instance) so much i could die just thinking about them.

I do think paddy gibson did kill as nikolai like when they let book nikolai pop out? slayed!!! also yeah alina like don't be doin that (merzost) baghra made u promise!! but it is a way better end than her losing all her power and I'm excited to see where they take that, I saw on twitter somewhere that leigh has lots of ideas where to take it if given more so we shall see <3 also w the darkling, like, ok so 1 he is ben barnes so that's a thing bc I've been crushing on him since prince caspian but also!! like the thing is like, he really did love her for a bit there! he had peace when she surprise kissed him!! that's the moment he went right back to in his defeat right before alina mcstabbed him (which he did deserve btw). like the heartbreaking part w darklina is they really could've had it if he'd trusted her!!! but he didn't!!! and that was his greatest weakness!!!!!
