#horizon forbidden west #hfw #no man's land #hfw photomode #so the spot where aloy washes up post-death's door is easy to identify #and i think i've found the one where she's spat out of latopolis as well #even though it seems to be a little further down the river in the cutscene? #but nothing but the hole up in the wall makes sense #ANYWAY #what's also baffling to me is how she washed up there #the river sure holds some hazards even as it is now #and i suppose the added water from latopolis created a larger current #but it's still a little strange she's only washed up at night #not far from the waterfall #but beyond a sand bank she must've crossed coming down from the cliffs #i appreciate they reasonably messed her up in that one #because her waterfall episode in hzd made me write an entire fic #but i still can't wrap my head around every detail #OH #and you know what's VERY CLOSE BY #the spot where you meet talanah #just up the hill #...just saying....

What is your Favorit Outfit in Forbidden West? and why is it Carja Stalker Elite? hahah

lmfao! Yes I love Stalker Elite because it looks the least extreme, it kinda has this "gym outfit" look imo, cuz of the "tight" fit and it really looks like a bodysuit. Also I love all the DETAILS on it, like the silk that goes around the shoulder pads and the one which she wears as belt, it has this star/flower(?)-like pattern which every Carja Silk has on. Her breastplate looks really strong like it can fend off hits very well and the almost triangle shaped.. uh, "thingies" on her belt are rather stiff (like Armor) but flow well with her movement, are a nice touch too, esp cuz all her other outfits have flowy moving fabric, totally different than CSE has, and the pattern on it is rather interesting aswell. The little Stalker Plates on her Bag in the back are a nice addition too, it is not too much but enough to make it not look so plain. Also I really like the purple silk supporting the leather on her boots, and love how they added some yellow color to it, same as a Stalker has on its machine parts. I never knew Purple can go so well with yellow! The only downside is its specialist on trapping (as the Stalkers are) but thanks to the new "glamour" system I am able to wear it anyways (which I did even before the Glamour System). Also I freaking hate Stalkers… and don't quite like the helmet hence I just keep it off and go with a nice Carja Facepaint! :D I just want to play the game only to look at the outfit 24/7 and idk why I am so obsessed with it! Thank you Thomas Sykutera for creating such a stunning outfit! I love you man! Ty so much for this ask Anon! I enjoyed putting my thoughts about CSE into this text (even tho I could go on talking about it but cannot really put a lot of thoughts into words) and I hope everyone can feel how I tried pouring my heart and soul into this lmaooo!

Is there any "pointless" detail (let's call them that) that you would like to be added on Horizon 3? For example I would like a command of sleep/rest for Aloy in her room on the Base, or pet the machines she has tamed

DEFINITELY petting the machines!!! Also, I'd love to see the base (or any form we get thereof) be more like the Normandy--characters moving around either in realtime or based on quest progression, actually getting to see little cutscene interactions between our friends, just overall something more compelling and dynamic. They implemented it in HFW, now it's time to refine!

Was watching random Horizon cutscenes for animation study/breakdown + wanted to see little details that I may have missed. I didn’t realize how cute Aloy was being here, especially from her confused facial expression when Milduf is telling her about getting his own back(love that detail). Another little detail I noticed was when before she asks for food, she’s putting her hands on her belly and slightly rubs it (devs probably did this to imply that she is hungry due to traveling a long way). She also seems like she’s acting a little shy, maybe she’s just used to hunting for her own food all the time and isn’t used to people making meals for her if she asks. Anyways that’s the HFW post of the day! Will make more art soon.

On the fics themselves, no. I did have some vague blogging about a few of my fics years back in the Doctor Who days...

Yes, lots of smutty. frequently fluffy, oneshots, though it's also common in my very rare longer fics too.

It's mostly F/M but as seen above, sometimes it's ot3 or more

I've only written one crossover, which was Doctor Who and Firefly, as a gift. more likely to write an AU.

I don't know of any being stolen, but admittedly don't look past ao3 really

nope, but it sounds like it could be a fun challenge!

oh see now this is tricky... at this point in time, I'd say Aloy/Kotallo!

not sure I have an all time favourite? I've only got like... 4? that have lasted and while I don't engage with the older ones right now, I still love them, but... eh, who knows!

15. What's the WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

I don't really have any wips ... oh maybe one? but I don't really have any interest in finishing it

16. What are your writing strengths?

hmmm, fluff? is that a strength? I do like taking slightly ridiculous ideas and trying ground them so they feel possible, and I *think* I do ok with that?

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

I get caught up on little details sometimes, and make them an issue, and definitely no good on flow-y writing... hopefully it's still enjoyable though!

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

if it makes sense for the story and there are translations included, I think it's fine. not something I'll do, as someone who never learnt another language.

19. First fandom you wrote for?

Doctor Who, the Doctor and Rose caught be by surprise and I fell into the fandom and fic and then eventually tried my hand and writing my own...

20. Favorite fic you've ever written?

seeeeeeee, this is hard too...

Secrets of the Forest (Horizon, Aloy/Kotallo (E)) has such a special place in my heart, I had so much fun with the world and their story and it's a smutty fairytale in a lot of ways and I'm happy with how it turned out 🐂

but also...

Kotallo versus the Goose (Horizon, Aloy/Kotallo (E)) was such a crazy idea, but I wanted absolutely ridiculous and very sweet and I think I achieved that... HONK! 🦢

I just wanted to do a little comparison on some details of HFW's version of Vanasaha and Uthid, because I noticed right away that the circuit pattern was missing on her outfit, and I sort of thought his badges also looked different. But they don't, it's just that the silver contrasts way more in the HZD version. Beside some light differences of coloring and texture, it's basically the same. But I still miss that circuit pattern. It looked rad.

Still Bothered

My friend recently started playing HZD (thanks to Steam having it on sale for ridiculously cheap) and watching them play through it has me thinking about the game and Forbidden West again. One thing keeps coming up, it bugged me when HFW came out, and it's still bugging me now.

The plants.

Why in the actual hell is there so little variety in the plants? HZD has SO many different plants scattered around the world. Plants I can identify at a distance because they are such an important part of the world. Plants that have observable patterns to where they grow most! And then there's HFW. A handful of disappointing plants, plopped in at random.

It's just so... uninspired and boring. It feels half-assed. So many of the things that make HFW a second thought and absolutely not my first choice when replaying games, really come down to the details. Which are either so half-assed, they actively annoy me, or are missing entirely.

Like jamming the fucking Hollywood sign in there and a taking down a Horus single handed weren't soulless additions that feel more like set pieces Londra came up with than anything like the excellence HZD gave us.

I don't know. It just makes me sad.

Haven't played the game, but from your pics it seems like GG gave Aloy rosacea in HFW and ngl, it gives me life... having rosacea myself it makes me a little less self-conscious about it seeing it normalised on a beloved character. Also your shots are superb as always!

I love that GG gives Aloy so many realistic details that don't conform to today's beauty standards. We're getting more and more realistic female character designs in recent yrs and I'm all here for that! That's what the ultra graphics are for 😌 Aloy character gameplay model looks like it's legit mocap model (or at least not too far from it) and idk how they pull it off for a console where hardware power is more restricted 🤯 and thank you anon for the kind words! I'm really happy to hear that you find comfort in seeing small details in a game you haven't played, yet. Hopefully soon! 😄

so i just did this relic ruin, which the datapoint you find tells us is a church

and then i noticed the car park right next to it seems kinda full for the end of the world

then i realised probably as the world was ending, of course lots of people would flee to a place of worship, it was literally the apocalypse after all. and i kinda made myself sad

just a little touch/detail but the image of people huddled together in a place of worship as the world crumbles around them just got me

I love the little details in HFW.

In this playthrough, I just found out that if you go to Stone's Echo after the Burning Blooms quests, Milu is arguing with Mian, the one who gave that quest. Kinda expected considering how much their opinions on the Carja clash.

Just thought I'd share.
