"he's been aware for too long that most people don't navigate thoughts of whether they'll ever be good enough or if they're disappointing the entire world."
and
"alex hits a momentary emotional impasse: either destroy something or destroy himself."
and
"there are other people, he supposes, who don't spend their lives waiting for the next bad day."
Alex being scolded after talking to Miguel and being told the sentence "you are no longer allowed to speak to the press" by Ellen.
Tzp talking a bit too much during an interview and having Matthew panic like he just saw a giant cake fall on Taylor again. (Bet he really told tzp "you're no longer allowed to speak to the press" later in the backstage.)
now that i’ve read the rwrb book i’ll never stop being perpetually torn between “it’s sweet that they made a soft queer romcom” and “ the person at am*zon who decided to cut out Luna as well as most of the political and societal stakes of the movie better watch out”
You and me and history Series- Read part 1 & 2 on AO3
They weren’t opposed to having children. They wanted a family. And throughout the years, they had many discussions about it in terms of their lives as public figures and what that could do to a child. But Alex also had his own fears and anxieties about it behind all of that: the fear of him turning into his own parents. It was impossible, realistically, because he and Henry aren’t Ellen and Oscar, not even close to them despite all that Alex carries from his parents- his mother’s stubbornness and passion, his father’s warmth and also stubbornness. And yet, that fear followed him like a shadow, casting darkness over the topic whenever it came up, and he kept finding reasons to stall.
That is, until they were at a birthday party for Alex’s colleague’s child. The event quickly turned into a disaster when the entertainment never showed up and the parents were panicking, but Henry stepped in and offered to help. He gathered the kids to form a makeshift stage which was just him sitting on a (way too small for him) stool, the kids sitting on the floor, looking up at him expectantly.
He then proceeded to tell them a fascinating fairytale that he seemingly came up with on the spot, and the kids were enthralled by it. There were laughs and gasps and cheers as the story progressed, and Alex- well, you already know- he’s so in love he could die . And he knew he was ready.
I’m not saying that I hope one day Crowley calls Aziraphale something other than Angel, but I think I’d kick my feet and squeal giddily if he pulled out a Baby or Sweetheart or Love or Darling (especially if it was borderline whispered instead of used regularly)
I got the thought while watching Red, White, and Royal Blue for the 13th time bc I melt every time I hear Alex on the phone with Henry while the madness is happening
So like,,,, the RWRB movie cutting the entire plotline that the white Republican senator is a sexual predator and instead making the villain a scorned ex-lover of Alex's who is a man of color? That sure was a choice!!!
Thinking about girldads firstprince in bed after a long day finally falling asleep when their little girl comes telling them that she can’t sleep so Alex lets her crawl up onto the bed until she is nestled in her dads’ arms while henry tells her a story to ease her into sleep. Alex listens intently, fingers lazily brushing his daughter’s hair and he ends up falling asleep to his husband’s soothing voice with so much love filling up his heart.
firstprince is me and i’m firstprince. like strip away the power, money, fame, and influence- i have truly never related more to both halves of a ship as much as i do alex & henry ❤️🤍💙
a tip for rwrb fans with homophobic parents: you can still watch the movie even if you don't have prime or your parents have prime but you don't want to watch the movie on their account 😁 get a vanilla visa gift card, make a new amazon prime account, and use the gift card you just got as the credit card needed for the 30 day trial. you can also cancel the trial after 30 days and spend the money on something else if you want.
i have been crying excessively because i just read the most heartwrenching fic about arthur writing a letter for the person that will love henry and i am just not okay
i’m gonna get shafted for saying this on here but i’m so mad at the rwrb script for gutting the book so needlessly; of course a book-to-film adaptation can never be 1:1 but you gotta get the important stuff in there for the characters to make sense and the story to feel satisfying even if you need to shift and change things to suit a different medium
