As an avid One Direction fan fic reader, 2022 has been truly incredible! This may look like a long list for my favorites, but I read so many amazing fics this year that it was so hard to pare it down to just these. Please check out all the other fics I recced this year here! Below you will find fics that made me laugh or cry, brought me joy or filled me with emotion, and surprised or comforted me. I share this list not to say that these fics are better than the rest (although I think they're amazing), but to share ones that left a mark on me.

Hi, anon! So yeah, these parameters are a bit tough to use to find much. Honestly, it's the word count that is making the biggest difference here. These types of dynamics I've seen more often in shorter fics. Here are a few that I think fit fairly well with what you're looking for though!

Louis Tomlinson has been a uni student for a while now with a rule of not dating new students. He still helps Harry find his way to his first class, though. He's also really sweet and really hot and Harry knows it won't end well, but it doesn't keep him from falling for Louis anyway.

Or: The one where Harry is soft and pretty but doesn't see it and Louis just wants to love him the way he deserves.
