quinni being the best audhd rep yet again, making me cry.

her explaining to darren that she’s just having a hard time adjusting and darren immediately saying she’s going to have to get used to change was a moment i related to more than anything.

she wasn’t saying it to imply she’s unhappy or upset or anything like that but as a way of getting across that she’s struggling and needs them to be patient with her as she adjusts because, at the end of the day, people with audhd know that we have to conform to a certain expectation most times, if not all, but it takes us a lot longer than most but it doesn’t mean we don’t want to every time, just that we’re having a hard time and trying to communicate that clearly with people without them immediately making assumptions is difficult.

what gets me is that amerie and malakai were never given a chance. first malakai is being secretive and amerie spirals so they break up, then malakai immediately dates someone else leaving amerie heartbroken, they either don't talk or fight, then malakai tries to kiss amerie but she stops him, amerie starts getting feelings for someone else, malakai fucking leave for switzerland and writes amerie a love letter that burns in the school fire.

the saddest part is that amerie and malakai love each other but never confessed..... they never stopped being in love.

MORE ON HEARTBREAK HIGH S2 In the trailer we see a bunch of new pairings between everyone and i'm excited to see where it will go! although i was really hoping for s2 we'd get some friends to lovers Ant and Spider, i never hear people talk about this ship!!! i think it would be great to see some struggle and figuring out internalized homophobia. there's still a chance but i doubt it and im a little sad still excited to see what they do though

It is SO important to me that there are separate characters in Heartbreak High that are openly celibate alongside an openly asexual character. Because being asexual does not mean you are celibate. It is a sexual orientation, not a choice.

Cash Piggott was already the best asexual representation I've ever seen, but season two has really solidified that.

Thank you Netflix. It's such a minor detail but it meant the world.

Been rewatching Heartbreak High to prepare for season 2 and, while I love the show as a whole, I have to say the Ca$h/Darren storyline might just be one of my favorite queer stories ever. I'm so excited to see what they do with these characters next.

Queer TV PSA!

Hello fellow Netflix watchers! Every week Netflix publishes their Top 10 charts for us to see what's doing well (and what isn't). And every week I check to see how the new queer shows are doing. This year has been a real mixed bag for us. Netflix has renewed several big hits like Heartstopper, Heartbreak High, & The Sandman, but buried others like First Kill and The Imperfects under bigger releases and no marketing campaign. It's frustrating and exhausting to say the least, and it might be happening again.

If you have been meaning to watch the Bastard Son and the Devil Himself but you haven't yet, you should do it now while your viewing matters (only the first 28 days are counted, yes it's stupid). It had a big increase for its second week and then dropped off the map for week three, not a good sign. If you already watched it, you should throw it on in the background a couple times, volume low but not muted (or it won't be counted), and make sure to stream the entire season. Netflix cares about two things: hours viewed and completion rates. Good hours but a low completion rate is still bad as it signals a lack of interest in future seasons. This is why the Sandman's renewal took so long, because people were watching it slowly. That's nobody’s fault, bingeing isn't for everyone, and some shows are better as a slow burn experience. Unfortunately it's how Netflix gathers its data.

So, what I recommend is re-streaming your faves after you finish them, several times if you can. If you're not ready to watch a show yet, or don't have interest in it, but still want to support queer media, you can stream it on a laptop or your phone while you're not using it (I stream on my laptop while I'm watching on my TV). It might not seem like much, but it's what we can do.

so, here’s the thing: sometimes when I’m watching a show my brain sort of wanders off and creates little stories of it’s own, and when I watched heartbreak high season 1, I like did a whole enemy’s to lovers 300k+ in my brain about amerie and harper. so, I like ship them a bit in a totally not realistic, outside of canon, confined to the limits of my own mind type of way. but. but. if harper continues to look and generally exist around amerie like THAT- imma just have to start shipping them for real.

I rewatched s1 of heartbreak high (2022) before starting s2 today and gods do I love season one cash has me absolutely on my knees I love him and I want to know how his story continues and see him explore his (a-)sexuality and quinni is my adorable sweetheart favorite and darren is a dick but I love them to death and uhhhh season two is NOT impressing me so far. and I know I am only at ep 2 but the new characters feel like caricatures while the old ones feel so much flatter with the story feeling a lot more like it doesn’t know where it wants to go
