There is a nearby Asian grocery store that sells freshly roasted sweet potatoes so of course it is luck if there is a batch ready when you go shopping

Anyway I wish very very hard they are ready when I check because they are my favorite so last week I said “if there is a god, he would make sure there are roasted sweet potatoes just for me” and not a single time in the 4 times I’ve checked since then has there been sweet potatoes for me…..

Page 349 of “Human History,” an excerpt from a common textbook used is the education system on Earth and Esurientem, two of the three planets populated by Humans in the distant future. The third planet (Crystali) simply chooses not to use this textbook in education for whatever reason.

Crystalians, and Bonds

The crystal from which they evolved (“evolution”: see index on page 413), is what they are both known for and the inspiration for their English name. The evidence behind said evolution is heavily debated, many saying that they are a completely different species due to their lifestyle, with others saying they are a sub species, or are Humans just the same, despite their supernatural crystal Bond.

The Bond (“Bond”: see index on page 397) is a fundamental keystone of the branching of Crystali from the Greater Human Species, whatever is believed about how they are categorized on the evolution tree. Since the First Bond, Crystalian people have been able to Bond to the iridescent Crystals native to their planet. This includes the ability to manipulate the physical properties of the Bonded Crystal, including density and shape, allowing parts or entire separate entities under the control of the Crystalian Bonded to it. It is a myth, though still accepted as fact among the Crystalians, that there is either a singular spirit, or many spirits that are psychically linked between Crystal spirit and Crystalian. No evidence proves or disproves this, and any separate entity created in a bond is believed to be a representation of the Crystalian’s subconscious.

The First Bond is greatly debated as well, however equally fundamental to Crystalian society and religion, being an inspiration to newly Bonded and elders of communities alike. Not every Crystalian has a Bond, nor is the ability to Bond restricted to the Crystali alone, as there have been record of Humans native to Earth or Esurientem have been known to be able to Bond with the Crystalian stones and crystals, with skill and accuracy similar to that of a Crystalian novice.

Many debate the reliability of the sources that suggest this, with some saying its outright impossible, and others claming that the stories are true, though the Humans were bispecies/biracial (“bispecies” “biracial” see index on pages 430 and 431), though there is no physical evidence or records in any databases that support this claim.
