One of my old texts from YouTube arguments about Astarion endings
I am not that invested in this discourse nowadays because I lost hope to change anyone's opinion and also, I am simply tired from dealing with toxic bs that I am getting as a response to some of my old comments on YT to this day. My favourites are those who will reply to my every comment to say how delulu I am and I probably just dreaming about being in a toxic relationships myself, while being unable to understand that people have their own ways to heal through art and that throwing poison on people like that is not helpful at all.
I will leave it there and funny enough, I am not even so much of AA fan, I just don't like people being ignorant and rude.
And I like writing essays, so here it is.
So, what this dark romance fantasy is about for me personally,(even though i prefer spawn romance, i absolutely understand the appeal of asc Astarion because honestly, i was all about this kind of romance during my childhood and teenage years, hardocore the Phantom of the Opera girl is here, inside your head 💀), and why it's also healing route for some players, and no, it's not about kinky vampiric banging.
1)A lot of people feel extremely worthless and insecure, lonely, like no one really cares for them at all. It's a very deep wound that hurts and it's difficult to overcome even in perfectly loving, healthy and supportive relationship with a good partner, and even with therapy. So fantasy about a vampire, being obsessed with you so much that he is ready to do absolutely anything just to be with you for forever is really comforting. Also, you don't have to think too much about your imperfections, because for him you like a center of his vampire heart.
Besides, you sympathise with him - it's like a selfcomfort mirror, i love this monster despite everything, so in a way, i accept myself despite any flaws i see in me.
2) Safety. When the world around you feel like a wilderness, full of monsters, it feels like only the most terrifying loving monster can protect you from it. He is powerful and protective, and i am so precious to him, that he will set the world on fire just so i would be safe.
3) Responsibility. As you may see, this kind of relationship have daddy issues vibes and codependency, and in real life, you can't just fully submit safely to anyone, I don't think i have to explain why it's a dangerous idea to seek this kind of relationships in real life. You have to stay a grown up independent person and seek safety for yourself without expecting someone to come and heal all your wounds. But this is fantasy, so finally you can use this as a comfort fantasy with no fear about being taking advantage of, without shame to be called childish and etc.
4) Independence. Spawn ending is very terrifying for anyone who has issues with feeling safe and independent, because some of us prefer violent power fantasies over "we have each other and that's all that matters", second of all, this ending also has some shady co-dependency undertone to it that can be triggering for some people. I love Spawn Astarion a little bit more more than Asc and yet my heart stayed absolutely broken after running away from the sun scene, and i hate that he is so dependent on Tav. Larian owes me some emotional refund after this.
5)SA trauma: it wasn't even seen as a possibility for healing way by writer, but it is for some.Asc Astarion feels like he is the most powerful creature in the world, and he is fully controlling everything that happens between him and Tav,so finally, it's a kind of situation where there is no chance of him being abused again. It's one of the reasons why some people become Doms in BDSM dynamic relationships: finally, full control of the process and a partner, who trusts then enough to fully submit, trust issues is also big deal in Astarion story of healing. I find idea that that only Subs can enjoy Asc Astarion a little bit naive. Because, well, some news for you: Doms like it too because they understand why he is so eager to be a top :D
Unrealistic, not the healthiest way? Probably! But this man and this love is not real anyway.
Yes, i think many of us, especially folks who went through therapy and a lot of self reflecting are already aware that it's basically romanticized version of narcissistic obsession and in real life this is creepy, but it's not real, it's a fantasy. People use BDSM to heal, romance books and all other forms of art to deal with their inner demons and it's absolutely normal. Even if someone is blind to see what is wrong with Asc Astarion, I highly doubt that toxic bucket of shame and aggression are able to help see anyone problematic side of things. Do you know who is usually up to romanticize toxic dynamic in romance? Victims of abuse. In real life, if you just scream and yell at any poor girl/boy/whatever about how stupid they are for believing that their abusive partner really loves them, people will either break down and cry or tell you to f#ck off and they will have every right to do so, but they won't see what's wrong with their partner,in whom quite often victims of abuse see their only source of love and safety in life.
Hells, I am so sick and tired from this "white cloak knight saviour from cycle of abuse" toxic flood in this fandom. If you really want to educate people - do it with extreme care and compassion. Real life healing is not working like it's with Astarion in the game, few right dialogs and boom, dude is on the right path.
It takes enormous amount of patience and love, be kind to one another, and stay safe, darlings. Being toxic on Asc fans you are not helping anyone, you just hitting your superiority complex button in your ass.

i don't want to add to that post when people are discussing George's "bitching" about Paul and "throwing tantrums". i think someone also talked about him hating on Paul's Give My Regards to Broad Street. and i want to comment on that because George isn't on a mission of criticising every thing that Paul makes, here's what he says about Paul's song which was included in that movie.
“I have recently been very much in touch with Paul and musically-see all the pens are coming out for this one, I love it. I think ‘No More Lonely Nights’ is a lovely song, I like it a lot.” (x)
Regarding a question about GMRTBS he says "I only watched it once. I quite liked it, I don't really… I remember dancing […]"
But it's George and of course he has to throw in a cheeky comment when the interviewer asked about a possibility of Paul doing John's solo songs "Paul? Maybe because he ran out of good ones of his own" (x)

With 17 versions to buy and 8 versions combined for 160 streams per Spotify account, plus Melon and FLO streams now counting, of course Jungkook’s Seven is charting high and sweeping awards. Firstly because it’s Jungkook of course, and secondly because it’s been given every possible advantage.
My (perhaps controversial) opinions about that are below the cut.
Honestly? I really can’t feel good about any “first” or “most” or “fastest” records achieved by this single—catchy as it is—which wasn’t written or conceived by Jungkook and has nothing much personal or deeply meaningful about it. It’s a fun feel-good summer pop song, for sure, but no more groundbreaking than, say, Bad Decisions (in my opinion… I have no musical expertise.)
But I can’t feel super great about all the records and awards because this many versions immediately restocked and shipped and auto play and promoted to radio and ads and leadership hyping only this while Jungkook says he wants to be the one and only artist to conquer kpop and pop for the next thousand years… it all just doesn’t really sit right with me.
Tumblr media
When compared to the 10 months Jimin forewent sleep, food, and showers to have a hand in every aspect of his first (and deeply personal and symbolic) album, which was never sent to radio or restocked, got split tracks and delayed playlisting and shady articles, plus not one kudos or congratulations from leadership even after he made history for South Korea and stocks soared…
Forgive me, but it all leaves a bad taste in my mouth. It is ruining the song for me.
Some things like culled streams and sales are out of the company’s control. But the things I mentioned above were all possible for Jimin’s Hot 100 #1. Even if every Tannie has total say in their projects' sales and marketing, and everyone was on board with only Jungkook getting the Hybe America "red carpet" treatment, I can’t lie and say the stark difference feels fine. It doesn't, and I confess I leave the headphones in every time Seven comes up in the playlists now.
I’m not jealous. If anything, I have a warped sense of pride that Jimin has done so fantastically well despite so many, many obstacles stacked against him. I love to champion an underdog and I’m glad I never need to doubt his success was organic. I actually feel extra admiration for how humble and hardworking he continues to be—no resting on any laurels for the It Boy. I'm so glad he is my ult-bias.
*sigh*
Listen to me.
I know Jungkook and Jimin are both genuinely good people. I know they are sincerely talented and hard working. I know they truly love each other. I know all members are legitimately happy for each others' success.
Tumblr media
I know what’s important to me may not be important to them, nor what they want for their careers. And even if I feel their company’s making shitty decisions, I know my place as a fan.
So I trust them. And I simply hang in. I hope lessons were learned for smoother, fairer future releases. Because neglecting assets makes zero business sense, and perceived favoritism can erode the group’s bonds and tear ARMY apart. It is, frankly, just plain stupid.
So I may dislike things about their solo era rollouts and I can't bring myself to sugar-coat it; but I mostly try to keep my negative thoughts to myself and find things I CAN celebrate with other fans on an open timeline.
I never want another Tannie to feel anguished and misunderstood the way Hobi did about JitB’s physicals.
Watching Jungkook’s face here on his London live when he talks about people hating him just haunts me. It guts me. I can't stand it. That kid was going through it and I don't believe he has a malicious bone in his body, so it just really upsets me seeing him like that.
There’s so, so much about this company, this industry, this culture that I just don’t understand. But I trust Park Jimin completely. As long as Park Jimin loves and supports his members, God knows, I will too.
So!! On that note...
We have Jungkook’s birthday to celebrate next week and Taehyung’s album to support the week after that. I’m going to do my best to rest up and gather some good energy for these things!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And of course, we must congratulate our Jimin, who made history again today, and no matter what, will always set the standard. I just know he's cooking up something else for us with all these weeks of silence, and I cannot wait to go BERSERK for it whenever it drops.
Tumblr media
I’m not really sure I had a point to this post. It’s just that I have been mulling all this over for a long time, and finally felt well enough to sit up long enough to come online and type up my thoughts.
I guess what I mostly wanted to share with my friends here is that it’s okay to feel really disappointed and even enraged at the way some things play out over the (hopefully life-long) careers of BTS members. Don't let folks gaslight you. Call it like you see it. (Maybe keep sensitive things behind a cut or in the DMs--and of course, please change your mind if you get better insight. In the end, only the Tannies really know what's going on with the Tannies.)
But while I’m still side-eyeing the company so hard right now, I’ve decided to love and support the boys as people and artists. I'm trying to believe the best in everyone. I’m still an OT7 Jikooker.
You don’t have to agree with me, and if you need to unfollow, I understand. But I figured I should just tell you guys (especially the new followers) where I am at with all this.
Love, Roo

KOLTC fans who do not like Fitz, this post is for you. Fitz fans who do not believe people have sound arguments about why they dislike Fitz, this post is also for you.
Disclaimer:
I will mention stuff that happened in Stellarlune, so if you are not caught up with the series you might not want to continue reading.
I will try to provide quotes, but I will likely just describe the scene and what book it is in when I provide my reasons.
Also, this post will be pretty long which may or may not be a good thing depending on who you are.
______________________________________________________________
Anyway, let’s get to the reasons why I dislike Fitz. I have broken them up into three main categories, and I will be talking about aspects of Fitz’s character that I think a lot of people overlook (not the reasons that people do tend to mention: him having anger issues and being boring)
I don’t know if you guys have noticed this, but Fitz is really shady, Iike really shady (and not in a good way like our favorite shade Tam)
He has eavesdropped on Sophie and Keefe’s conversations before which I find so weird
In Lodestar, when Sophie and Keefe were communicating telepathically in that slimy location that Keefe picked out, Fitz started listening in on their conversation without their knowledge. He said it was because he was worried since he heard Sophie gasp. Personally, I do not buy this excuse. He can literally see Sophie so he could easily determine that she is not in danger. At the very least, why did he not immediately announce that he was listening once he knew Sophie was okay? In my opinion, it just feels odd, and if I were Sophie or Keefe I would feel a bit uneasy.
In Flashback, Sophie and Keefe were talking in the healing center about starting weapons training, and Sophie asks Keefe if he is down to do that (or something along those lines). Fitz immediately shouts, “I’m in!” The shady thing about this was that he was sleeping in his cot when they were talking. Now, I’m not saying that he is expected to cover his ears while they have a private convo in the healing center. But the thing is, he pretended to be asleep to listen to more of their conversation which is creepy.
The next very shady thing was the gift he gave Sophie in Legacy which was a painting he asked Keefe to make.
I always thought this was shady because, for one thing, he completely stole Keefe’s idea for a gift. Come on, a painting with a heartfelt message on the back?! That was literally what Keefe gave Sophie in Nightfall. Here comes the actual shady part though: why did he not just go to Atlantis or somewhere and have someone paint it for him? He purposefully asked Keefe to paint the confession scene between him and Sophie when he knows that Keefe likes Sophie. That is so messed up. This is made even worse by the fact that he paid Keefe when literally every elf is born with an unlimited birth fund so it was essentially worthless.
This next example happened in Legacy. I feel like a lot of people forgot about this or kind of swept in under the rug, but I think it is actually very telling of the type of person Fitz is. I am talking about when Fitz decided to search Lord Cassius’s mind to learn anything about where Alvar might be after he got away in Flashback.
There are several shady things about what happened in this scene. First of all, Fitz decided to do this even though he knew that it would make Keefe uncomfortable (Fitz would see the abuse/trauma Keefe suffered at home). Secondly, Fitz did this without even asking Keefe first or even letting him know about it. If you recall, he literally just showed up at Keefe’s house without any warning. Lastly, he tried to lie about it too. He tried to say “I’m doing this for Keefe” and “whatever I find will be helpful for Keefe”. Give me a break, we all know he did not do this out of concern for Keefe and he was caught lying in the act by Keefe himself. *I find it funny how he tried to lie about it to Keefe, when Keefe is literally the strongest empath in their world and is literally so smart even though he does not get enough credit for it.
2. When he gets mad at Sophie, the first thing he does is belittle her or try to make her feel stupid:
This first example comes from Exile when Fitz was getting mad at Sophie about what happened to his dad. Now, a lot of people like to dismiss how Fitz acted in this situation because he was under a lot of stress, but I do not think this is right to do because it absolves Fitz of any guilt instead of addressing how his behavior was wrong. The specific scene I am referring to is when, I believe, Alvar suggests that maybe Sophie can help Alden and then Fitz responds with: “Please, she’s just a kid.” What I get from this statement is that he is making Sophie feel less than, and in the process he is putting himself above her “level”. Now, one can use the excuse that he wasn’t himself and that he was torn up with grief, but he says similar things to Sophie later on in the series (when his dad is not on his deathbed) which I mention below.
This next example happens towards the end of Legacy, just before Fitz and Sophie broke up. Sophie was defending her decision to search Lord Cassius’s mind for any important information even though Fitz was already doing that (she honestly didn’t even need to do this because everyone knew he was getting nowhere and that he would never have found anything useful). Anyway, Fitz responds with: “So you thought the Moonlark needed to swoop in and take over? The leader of Team Valiant? Lady Sophie Foster? The fact that he is trying to make her feel bad about her accomplishments is a major red flag in my opinion. As someone who supposedly cares about her more than anyone, he should feel the most proud of her successes.
This third example is from Stellarlune. It’s when Fitz and Sophie have their first telepathy session after the whole “Fitzphie’s not a thing!” debacle. So, Sophie is asking Tiergan what a Cognate Inquisition is and then here comes the interjection: “Better question,” Fitz jumped in using a smug tone that made [Sophie] wish one of the buttons on her telepathy chair would turn Fitz’s into an ejector seat and launch him out of the room. “Why were you hoping to spare us from it?” I just think this is unnecessary and uncalled for; why is he trying to embarrass/ one up her in front of their mentor? (Did he forget that he is the one who joined her session, not the other way around?)
3. The last major issue I have with Fitz is the fact that he guilt trips Sophie and Keefe a lot. And, just so everybody is aware, not about minor stuff. He tries to make them feel guilty about things that are completely out of their control, and as you are reading these examples I just want you to keep in mind that elves are not equipped to handle guilt. Their mind can literally shatter if they feel too much of it (like Alden), and that’s why I think it is so horrific every time Fitz does stuff like this:
Everybody knows this one, but I am still going to put it here because it is worth mentioning. In Exile, Fitz blamed Sophie for his dad’s mind shattering. I have seen a lot of people try to say it is justified because he was going through a lot at the time, but I disagree. I think we can all agree that just because someone is going through a tough time (no matter how tough it may be), it does not give them the right to bully an innocent person.
Moving on, in Flashback, towards the end of the book Fitz makes everyone search for Alvar because he thinks he is up to something shady. When they find Alvar and question him, Keefe says that he can tell that Alvar is telling the truth. Then Fitz retorts, “Like you could tell with your mom?” In this remark, he is referring to the fact that, before she revealed her betrayal, Keefe had no idea that his mom was evil. This made me so angry on Keefe’s behalf because everyone already knows that he blames himself for everything that his mom is doing. With every revelation about his mom’s plan he sees how much worse things truly are, and that sends him into a downward spiral of guilt. For his “best friend” to say this to him is so messed up.
This is not another example, just my own thoughts about what I said above so you can skip it if you would like. I never understood why people (namely the Councillors) expected Keefe to know that his mom was evil. For one thing, his parents are literally known for never showing any physical or emotional affection to him. So, how is he supposed to be able to read his mom’s emotions if he never is close to her? Secondly, I think people are forgetting that as an empath he can only read people’s emotions. He does not know the reason why they are feeling the way that they do unless he has context. Lastly, his mom was literally erasing his memories left and right so whatever information he could even manage to glean would be wiped from his mind. Meanwhile, Fitz is literally a telepath, and he had no idea his brother was evil (and I assume he must have read his brother’s mind at least one time) so I think he needs to lay off the judgment.
In Legacy, Gisela leaves a note for Sophie to bring Keefe to Loamnore during the “showdown” (or whatever you want to call it). Anyway, Sophie does not want to do this because it is obviously a trap, and Keefe gives in and agrees to stay behind. When he makes this decision, Fitz says, “Wow, you really hate Tam that much? Because he’s the one who’ll pay the price if you’re not there—you get that right?” Is it just me or does that not sound so condescending? All I can say to this is how does he have the nerve to blame Gisela’s actions on Keefe, especially when Keefe is one of the people working the hardest to stop her? Also, it is crazy that Fitz is guilt tripping Keefe for deciding not to be bait and leaving his life in the hands of his (crazy) mom. I’m sure it’s easy for Fitz to say that because he is not the one who is being targeted by an evil mastermind who wants to experiment on him.
This last example happened in Stellarlune, so it is is quite literally very recent. Fitz and Sophie are in the school cafeteria, and they are disagreeing about next steps to take to stop the Neverseen. In that conversation Fitz says, “But sometimes it feels like you don’t realize that it’s only a matter of time before something you do gets someone else killed?” In my opinion this is a completely unfair statement to make against Sophie. First of all, since the beginning of the series she never wanted her friends involved in the fight against the Neverseen because she wanted to keep them safe. However, her friends (including Fitz) would not take no for an answer and insisted on helping. Secondly, Sophie is always going above and beyond (risking her life) to save that of others. Both times when she almost died fixing her abilities, she endured it all for the sake of becoming stronger and protecting her friends, family, and her world. That is why I think the way Fitz is trying to make her feel guilty, and put the entire weight of people’s lives on her shoulders, is so unjustified. She is literally a young girl trying to do her best to save her world from crazy powerful villains, cut her some slack.
If you made it to the end, thanks for reading. Honestly, there are many more examples that could be brought up that I’m sure a lot of you are thinking about, but I am too lazy to write all of that. I just wanted to share my thoughts because I have been seeing some people say that Fitz has had good character development throughout the series (which I just have not seen) and does not deserve all the hate so I just wanted to share why I believe Fitz is viewed the way he is by a majority of the Keeper fandom.

RANDOM ONLY FRIENDS THEORIES/THOUGHTS
- Sand will get tired of Ray’s shenanigans/not coming first in his life and take a step back. I think this might be where this mystery character comes into play (*the one he has a love scene with). Sand is my favorite character by a long shot and I just know he’s going to do something that disappoints me… I’m dreading it because I will call him out even though I love him dearly. Part of me thinks his lack of empathy/straight shooter attitude will get him into trouble. Sometimes he is TOO honest. On the flip side, I also think he feels things very deeply and this will not bode well because Ray is an addict. His heart will shatter. Not excited at all.
- Ray WILL absolutely lose his damn mind if he finds out about Sand sleeping with someone else (*maybe I’m wrong, but he just seems like the jealous type lol) I think he will push Sand away because falling in love with someone who has the capacity to love him back will terrify him. I think he will spend most of the series trying to convince himself and others that he doesn’t have REAL feelings for Sand. Poor babe. It’s okay Ray, I love you anyway. I do think he will be sober/starting his journey to sobriety by the finale too. I can’t wait for this part!
- I think we are missing some very vital information about Boston. I’m not sure what it could be… but I’m so worried about him. I know that may seem silly… sue me. He just gives me “I’m actually so fucking miserable and I hate myself uwu” vibes. Could be very wrong though lol. There is clear tension between him & Mew and I think there is a reason for that. One that might surprise us. Mew has made some shady comments about Boston & Boston doesn’t hold back when he talks about Mew to Top.
- Nick has no idea what healthy boundaries are. From the beginning, he has completely disregarded Boston’s right to privacy. Yes he’s cute and yes he’s young, but he has crossed every line imaginable (almost) and they aren’t even in a committed relationship. Boston isn’t obligated to be faithful. He doesn’t owe Nick any information about his sex life outside of their arrangement. Sigh. I think it will only get worse from here though… Revenge porn??… I hope not… I also think Nick just wants to be loved.
- Mew. There is something about Mew that I can’t quite wrap my head around. I was VERY surprised that he chose to use sex as a bargaining tool. It seemed very out of character for him. I love that he called Ray out for kissing him without his permission. It needed to be addressed and Mew handled it flawlessly. Which again, is why I was so shocked by his choices at the end of this latest episode… Ray calls him out yet again before he leaves, “Is Top really the kind of boyfriend you want?” This is the second time Ray has said something like this. Is Mew trying to prove something? Does it bother him that Ray of all people, the person he has very clearly said isn’t the type of boyfriend he wants, is the person pointing out that Top isn’t a good option either?
- Top is so complex. They all are really, but Top has so many layers and he isn’t as easy to read. (In my opinion) This ex is definitely important to him. I think he has some scars from that relationship. I also think there is some sort of hidden trauma that hasn’t been shared with us yet. His relationship with sex is all over the place. I can’t even begin to dissect that.
I have so many other thoughts swirling around in my brain, but they get so jumbled up lol. This probably makes no sense either, so have fun reading my nonsense. Or don’t. That’s cool too.

Glossary of media discussion terms I invented myself and then bring up casually as though you should know what I mean (AKA Tash Translation Guide):
The Inherent Eroticism of Solving Crimes Together:
the simple fact that the kinds of common character dynamics between the two leads of any given detective or mystery or police show (i.e. trust, devotion, talk of being "partners", sneaking around together in the dead of night) are often very easily read as romantic or sexual to fandom-brained people, even if that obviously wasn't the intention. Even if one of them's already married. Even if there's a 30 year age gap. Doesn't matter
The Holliday Grainger Effect/Holliday Grainger Syndrome:
Named for the actress Holliday Grainger and the MULTIPLE TIMES she has been cast as the less attractive/less desirable narrative foil to the more conventionally attractive and desirable female lead, as though we're all supposed to pretend Holliday Grainger isn't also an incredibly beautiful woman
The Milton Keynes Conspiracy:
Named for my joke conspiracy theory about the teen soap Grange Hill, in which I claim that within the Grange Hill universe, Milton Keynes isn't actually a real place, and that whenever a character disappears suddenly with the only explanation given being that they "moved to Milton Keynes", that was just code for them having been disappeared by the government for getting too close to The Truth™️, and every time something odd or unexplained happens or something major is just brushed under the rug and forgotten about, that was all just shady alien-related government activity and all part of The Milton Keynes Conspiracy. I tend to bring up The Milton Keynes Conspiracy whenever a show's canon, continuity, or geography makes absolutely no sense under close scrutiny and the only "logical" explanations left are things like time loops or aliens or cracks in space and time or government conspiracies.
Bastard Man (Affectionate) and Bastard Man (Derogatory):
A very important distinction. The sparknotes version is that a Bastard Man (Affectionate) is a Card Carrying Bastard who does it all with charm and charisma and confidence, knows they're a bastard and takes a twisted pride in it, and is at least funny about it, while the Bastard Man (Derogatory) is just whiny and sad and won't actually admit to being a bastard man, and usually the narrative won't admit it either and keeps treating him like a tragic hero no matter what. Has a tendency to just get away with stuff with no payoff and isn't even funny about it. Shares a lot of DNA with:
Sadboy:
My absolute least favourite character archetype, though that's purely subjective and there are still SOME Sadboys I like. I know that my opinions are not universal because part of the reason I have such a visceral dislike for them is because they're often tumblr sexymancoded and I cannot escape them in the show's tags. They're wet. They're pathetic. They're miserable. And they're pretty. Usually played by a skinny pale white boy. (Like I said. Tumblr sexymancoded). And because of this, the show and the fandom alike will expect you to ignore the fact they're an awful person and excuse everything they've ever done wrong. Look, you can't be mad at them, look how sad they are about it. Look at their big wet puppydog eyes. In fact they haven't done anything wrong at all and you're crazy for saying they have. It's everyone who was mean to him who is wrong and his wife/girlfriend is a bitch for getting mad at him. He's just a sad wet little meow meow. Ugh. Disgusting. When will [REDACTED ACTORS HERE] answer for what they and their characters have done to me.

what do u think of ned and sansa’s relationship?
sorry this took so long, i wasn't sure how to lay it out because i didn't just want to word vomit all over lol.
i think it's a great depiction of grief and trauma "dripping through" so to speak (to steal a succession line) from a parent to their child. ned and sansa are similar in many ways (in fact, I'd argue that Sansa is the most like Ned) and you can see clearly that Sansa gets her outlook on life and society more so from her father than her mother. While Cat is much less trusting, much more forceful, and incredibly emotional, Ned has a much more romanticized idea of the world. He makes many of the same mistakes that Sansa does, as a matter of fact -
they both trust Littlefinger despite the warning signs because they both feel they have no other option and no allies to rely on, so this shady guy obsessed with Cat is the least noxious option (in their eyes)
they both have this idealistic image of a Baratheon that is tied more to reputations and romanticism than in that particular man's personality - Ned should realize that he can't rely on Robert literally the moment Robert refuses to step in to protect Lady but keeps deluding himself because Robert the Hero, Robert the King, Robert the Foster Brother, is this larger than life image he has in his mind. Meanwhile, Joffrey is...Joffrey and Sansa overlooks and romanticizes this because The Chivalrous Prince is this idea that is all powerful in her head.
they both think around a subject rather than face it head on. I detailed an example of this here but there's literally dozens of examples in both of their narratives. it's this commonality that I find particularly interesting; it's not just that they're very indirect people but that when faced with trauma, both of them double down on avoiding their trauma to cope with it.
in particular, they both do this wrt a younger sister which is even more fascinating in my opinion - so easy to have Ned think more often around Brandon but instead it's Lyanna he Does Not Obsess Over, and it's Lyanna he compares Sansa to (even though they likely look nothing alike). Later, it would be easy to have Sansa think more about her brothers but again, it's Arya she Does Not Obsess Over, and we know Arya likely resembles Lyanna to a point. Just something really fascinating there, that the relationship they are most troubled by is one with a little sister.
and in that vein, both of them will romanticize their own trauma to cope with it. we see this obviously with sansa and the Unkiss but I think it's present in his thoughts of the Tower of Joy as well. his fever dream in eddard x is steeped in fantasy imagery, with his companions as faceless wraiths, a "storm of rose petals" streaking across the red sky. he does this with rhaegar as well in my opinion - when he does think of rhaegar the man (and not just of his children) he has this image of Rhaegar as a chivalrous sort of man who no one can really measure up to and yet he never explicitly thinks anything positive about Rhaegar. once again, sort of romanticizing his idea of someone, like Sansa does with Sandor.
both of them are incredibly self conscious about how they're perceived - Ned thinks about his father and brother as being "born" to rule, is very aware that people see him as kind of an idiot, and Sansa is equally worried that people will see her as "silly" or simple. It seems very tied to their roles as the "girlson" - Sansa as the eldest daughter who must make an illustrious match and live up to that expectation of her and Ned as the second son stepping in to fill a role he feels unprepared to take.
despite some paternalism about the poor (Ned sitting a man with him every night while also kind of purposefully distancing himself to be The Benevolent Father of Winterfell and Sansa's out of pocket but realistic comments about Jeyne and Mya's marriage prospects), they clearly care about the common or low born people they live with - I think Sansa's grief (and purposeful Thinking Around) over Jeyne Poole going missing and her insistence that Jeyne's father is safe speaks to her affection for the Pooles just as Ned's fixation on Jory Cassel being murdered by Jaime also speaks to his affection for the Cassels. And just from an audience PoV, I think it really underlines Ned and Sansa's horror over the situation that Ned is traumatized by Jory's death at the hands of the Lannisters, and Sansa thinks over a year later about "poor Jeyne Poole" and her disappearance (due to the Lannisters, though she's ultimately sold by LF)
And then there's the emotional distance between them, that I think is really compounded by his trauma over Lyanna and Sansa's age -
Ned ultimately learns the wrong lesson from Lyanna's death. He doesn't learn "women shouldn't be given so few options and should be allowed control over their lives" he learns "if i protect the women i love from the evils of this world and give them freedom when they're young, they'll be happier" and that's just. Oh Ned.
But that "lesson" is really obvious in how he treats Sansa - he keeps her in the dark while putting her in a dangerous situation, because he doesn't want her to be involved in the same politics that killed Lyanna even as he's actively involving her in those politics. His first thoughts about Sansa in the book are that she's too young to be engaged to Joffrey! He does not want to let her go out into the big bad world and he thinks simply keeping the bad stuff from her mind is how he'll save her.
The Lady situation I think is what really damages their relationship; he links Sansa and Lyanna in his mind so closely during this scene that I think it stops him from being able to emotionally connect with her anymore. It's so tragic - to see Lyanna's sorrow reflected in Sansa, to feel that loss so deeply that it stops him from being able to comfort Sansa the way he comforted Lyanna as she died.
all of this really bites him in the ass because Sansa looks at his silence and sees treachery while Ned looks at her silence and sees obedience. And the moment when both of them are finally ready to act and not just dream is when their stories clash horrifically.
Narratively, I think they're set up to have some parallels - Ned as the second son (and what is a second son than a girlson, really) who was never supposed to inherit who does after a violent tragedy, and Sansa as the second born who was also never supposed to inherit who will after a violent tragedy.
And Ned's story is book ended by Ned choosing his love of a young female relative over his honor - he actually compares Sansa to Lyanna first in his narrative:
He could still hear Sansa pleading, as Lyanna had pleaded once.
and it's Sansa who he once again chooses over his word, over his honor. when he looks at Sansa (and Arya) all he sees is his grief. It leads all three of them to their doom, but Ned's death is something he would choose over and over because in the end, with all his faults, Ned did learn one good lesson from Lyanna and it's that a living, breathing woman will always be more important than some words spoken before a king. what is honor compared to the feel of your daughter in your arms, the memory of your sister's smile?

ok additional thoughts on 4-3..
it was very 🤯🤯 to learn that trucy has a "real father".... who i highly suspect to be shadi smith lol. it hasnt been stated explicitly whether this is her biological father or not and i still stand by the opinion tht wright isnt the type to adopt children he has no blood relation obligations to, so im still under the belief tht shes wright's biological daughter.. tho it wouldnt be super hard for me to believe tht shes actually not his bio daughter cuz wright having a child at 18 would be crazzyyyy. but yeah thats for case 4 to reveal to me so thts exciting.. oh and also im guessing mr. hat is modelled after zak gramarye, so valant = yellow, zak = blue, and trucy = pink/red like she was in tht cute little picture!
klavier's and apollo's relationship is sooo interesting to meee.. i really really like how its completely different from every relationship wright has had w his prosecutors. every prosecutor has been antagonistic to wright, but even tho klavier makes fun of apollo's forehead and is condescending to him in the court, hes still pretty respectful towards apollo. it was really cool how he entrusted apollo to incriminate drayan, it was very reminiscent of edgeworth's trust in wright during the engarde case. klavier is sooo interesting, like hes all here talking abt "finding the truth" which took our previous prosecutors like 2 whole games to reach that point, but klavier has already reached it here. i also liked how bratty and grumpy he was in the concert LOL and tht whole part in his office where hes like "i want to pursue simplicity :)" is so interesting and i bet will get unraveled next chapter hurhuahfksdj. hes so different in such a refreshing way and i really really enjoy it. i also like how nice he is to trucy, honestly its nice that everyone is nice to trucy! shes the games special girl and im glad we all treat her nicely!
and of course apollo has been so refreshingly different tooooo, it was typical game stupidity for him to leave the crime scene unattended but hey, he hasnt endangered trucy at any point so that has been a huge plus for me. i really like how deadpan and level-headed and 'serious' he is. its just really good character writing that he fills out the same role as wright but his personality is still very different. like wright was bizzare and apollo is not. but hes still as entertaining. also his confidence in the court was very coollll i really like this kid. and also its so neat to play as a protagonist whose the same age as me HAHA. and ive already said this but seriously him and trucy are so cuteeee together, maya and phoenix were the best of friends, but apollo is like looking after trucy and its just super adorable.
also at first i was very 🤨 at this case bc it took its time to point out my defendant was BLIND and short and also how could letouse have known lamiroir was a witness if he wasnt facing the small window, so i was irked during the 1st trial bc of this, but then it ended with a WOAHHH when lamiroir accused drayan and then the court started to get criticized and it was just soooooo gooddddd. oh and the part where i had to figure out how the magic trick worked was really funny bc i genuinely had no idea, and trucy knowing but not telling apollo was hilarious and so was the judge's insistence on learning how the trick worked 😭 i really liked that part! im very happy with the game so far and im super excited for the last case, cuz even tho turnabout corner kinda rushed its ending it was still a neat case and i liked alita's personality as a killer very much, all the cases have been very solid. and im excited to finally receive answers to the many mysteries of this game.. tho im a bit worried abt having the time and space to actually play it cuz eid is in like 4 days hejfkwehjkshdagjk but what happens happens!

I've decided this is going to be a tradition now so here's
My favorite books I read in 2023
(in no particular order)
Tumblr media
"Siren Queen" by Nghi Vo
this book is so fucking cool. I said this list is in no particular order but this is without a doubt my favorite book I read this year. This book takes place in a fantasy version of Hollywood in roughly the 1920s-1940s. It has everything: deals with shady nonhuman creatures, fantasy violence, old Hollywood glamour, lesbians. What else do you need? Genuinely the most unique worldbuilding for a fantasy story I've ever seen. Please, if you only take one recommendation from me ever, take this one. The audiobook SLAPS also.
Tumblr media
"The Empress of Salt and Fortune" by Nghi Vo
Shoutout to Nghi Vo because I genuinely didn't even realize both of these books were by the same author. Queen. Anyways. So you know how the movie Titanic is told through the lens of people hearing the story from Rose as an old woman? Similar set up but also not similar at all. A sort of nun/monk person on a mission of historical and anthropological chronicling comes to the long abandoned residence where a recently deceased empress once lived in exile. There, they meet the empress' personal maid. As the main character (I can't remember the name off the top of my head, sorry) goes through and archives artifacts from the home, they get to hear stories of the empress' early life in their kingdom as well as her time in exile leading up to her rise to power. I'm not selling this well but it's REALLY good and a very quick read.
Tumblr media
"And Then There Were None" by Agatha Christie
She's the queen of mystery for a fucking reason!!! This was apparently the year of Nghi Vo and Agatha Christie because Queen Agatha was the other author that just dominated my reading list. Anyways, the set up of this is that 10 people are lured to a mansion on a remote island and start getting killed off. I had a lot of fun trying to figure out who among them was The Killer (even though I ultimately failed to get it right).
Tumblr media
"I'm Glad My Mom Died" by Jennette McCurdy
Look. Reading and loving this book in the year 2023 is not a unique experience. This book is a tough read in that a lot of really terrible things have happened to her, but I (like everyone else who's read it) need to give her a lot of props for her skill, frankness, and humor about writing this book, as well as just her strength for getting through all that. Go Jennette!
Tumblr media
"Demon Copperhead" by Barbara Kingsolver
Reading and loving Demon Copperhead in 2023 is ALSO not a unique experience. It won awards for a reason. But I liked it so it goes on the list This is a modern take on David Copperfield that follows a boy from the Appalachians as he grows up in the foster system (and through the opioid crisis). I know that sounds bleak, but he's a character that you really wanna follow and root for, even at his lowest. It's a LONG book, but well worth every page in my opinion.
Tumblr media
"The Monster of Florence" by Douglas Preston and Mario Spezi
One of the authors got kicked out of Italy for writing this book! Doesn't that already catch your interest???
Anyways, this is a nonfiction book. Half of it chronicles the twists and turns in the investigation of the still-unsolved Monster of Florence serial killer case (which is. Horrifying. To give fair warning). But it also delves into the corruption and mismanagement of the Florence police department, culminating in a frame job intended to make the authors keep their mouths shut about this case. It's definitely a creepy case, so if you don't have much of a stomach for true crime I'd skip this one, but I could not put this book down (figuratively - I listened to the audiobook, lol). I went on runs solely so that I would have more time to listen to it some days.
That concludes this list of 2023 book recommendations. Hope y'all enjoyed! See you again this time next year.

Hey! Really enjoy your blog.
I don't put a lot of stock into social media interactions as indicators of closeness but then as one of your anons rightly mentioned - the members are also co-workers and public figures who have a responsibility (kind of) to keep up an image of ot7. Given how vocal almost all of them have been about returning as a team in 2025… how does that tie in with the perceived lack of closeness and basic congratulations (on SM) for vmin?
Wouldn't there be some kind of hesitancy from v and Jimin if such a possible lack of closeness existed? Especially since they've been very loud about their friendship/soulmate status and it maybe does hurt on loosing friendships (or maybe not loosing but cooling down of) ..
Also I haven't been here in the fandom for a long time (less than a few months frankly, so maybe my opinions are not that well formed or accurate) but is this lack of closeness something that has been observed by you since some time or is it a new development?
It's a new development for me tbh. For some people they think there has always been something shady going on with Vmin. Like when V said Jimin likes men at a radio station, something that had the potential to go really bad if Jimin hadn't been quick witted with his reply. "I don't like you." But that could be chalked to immaturity and the fact that BTS did not have mouth filters back then. I mean, can u imagine 2023 BTS admitting they watch porn?
Tumblr media
Coz I sure can't. The bigger they got the more careful they had to become.
Another example from the past i see people giving is this one. As u can tell from Jimin's face he wasn't expecting that question
I would go as far as to say he was taken aback. As we all know Jimin is sensitive with the weight topic. So some people think V should have known that. But as usual Jimin diverted the situation and the interview continued.
But what if this was just their dynamic back then? Picking on eo? Like when every member was asked who they would introduce their sister to and they all said Jimin except V. And that other time Jimin was asked what he would do if he was king for a day he said he would make V his slave so he could stab him?? 😂😂 I can't remember exactly what he said but it was something along the lines of making V suffer. For soulmates they sure used to fight alot. 😂
I have always found them to be cute and adorable but even as u watch their early content u will notice V treats JK now the way he used to treat Jimin. He used to be all over Jimin, used to tell him I love u all the time, used to always choose Jimin, etc. But Jimin seemed to have put up some boundaries between them in recent years. If this has to do with JK, idk.
Because Jimin is not as touchy feely as he used to be... with all of them not just V. So this skinship part of things could be Jikook related. Yes I know he kissed Jhope on his birthday but I dare u to find JK "jealous" moments when it comes to Jhope. Real ones, not out of context ones. They are close to none. Very, very, few. JK doesn't have an issue with Jihope moments.
While we are on the topic have u guys ever noticed when Jhope hugs Jimin he turns his body so they're not hugging front to front but rather front to side?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
youtube
So yes... I wonder what's Jikook related and what isn't. 🤔 maybe Hobi knows how JK can get? Idk. Just food for thought.
Anyway, I digress. Back on the Vmin topic. I honestly didn't see it as anything. Not even after Jikookers started having an issue with it. But now it's kind of hard to ignore. He really is doing it on purpose and I can't help but side eye him a little bit. U know?
But like u said, would Jimin want to come back as ot7 if there was animosity between them? I think from the latest ot7 content (Jhope BB) its safe to say there is no animosity.
I'm not sure i answered your question but I'm not the best person to ask this. Because I didn't have an issue with this until I saw he keeps doing the same thing over and over without fail.
But I still maintain my stand that I hold nothing against the man as long as Jikook continue to be okay with him. And that seems to be the case rn. So if Jimin and JK don't have an issue with V, neither do I. Haters will always hate no matter what. But I can and will listen to other Jikookers who have an issue and I do see where they're coming from.

In ageswap AU which other characters are also age swapped?
Are Yokoo and Satou in Teru's class?
Was Mitsuba a classmate of Teru? Mitsuba should have given Teru "let's be friends" talk since they sit in alphabetical order.
Of the main cast only the Minabros age are swapped. But I have decided to age up Yooko and Satou too, because I love their friendship with Kou very much, and I want them to grow up together and slowly pick on how stressed Kou is, helping him out as much as they can.
Mitsuba was Teru’s classmate and he does give him the "Let's be friend" talk. I didn’t want to put too much focus on Mitsuba, but this is the third ask I get about him, so I'll go into ramble mode: Here is every loose idea I had of Mitsuba and Teru relationship.
Since they are both friendless and lonely and sit next to each other, they agreed to be friends, but it’s a strange and somewhat superficial friendship, very short-lived. Their personalities just don’t clash very well: Not with Mitsuba's fake mask.
Mitsuba is very boring for Teru's standards, his sweet and polite persona makes Teru even more confident in his belief he isn’t normal and probably never will be. He puts effort and tries despite the lack of interest and his difficulty forming attachments because he does want friends, part of him hasn't given up on it. He also knows Kou is worried about him always spending his lunch with him instead of people his age, and Teru wants to make Kou proud, not worried.
Teru is more careful with strangers, but he doesn't really have a persona when he tries to make friends, he is still too casual about morbid topics and too blunt about his opinion, bullying Mitsuba on accident.
He gets some hope of making this work when he scares or frustrates Mitsuba, since it breaks his good boy act, and his real self is dramatic enough to entertain Teru. He is still hopeless though, so he enjoys hanging out with Kou more than Mitsuba.
Teru ends up realizing Mitsuba doesn't like to be seen as girly, and he was taught to treat girls nicely, so he kind of took it as “Don’t be delicate with Mitsuba,” and while that doesn’t make him violent, as he is with Akane, he does hurt Mitsuba on accident a lot when he teases him.
Teru makes an effort to be a good friend but he is very bad at it, and very arrogant, so he is confident he is nailing this friendship when he starts having fun, which is when Mitsuba starts to be stressed in his presence.
As for Mitsuba, he used to think Teru is cute (his type is blond with kind looking smiles and pretty blue eyes) but that feeling was quickly overshadowed by anger, fear, frustration, and just plain bafflement.
He is jealous of how authentic Teru is, and scared of being honest too, considering Teru's attempts to bond came across as him bullying Mitsuba when he is being ‘inoffensive’, so he fears being killed if he acts cocky and arrogant. The alternative of actually hurting Teru is also uncomfortable though, since he is one of the few people that can get happy to see him.
He gets tricked a lot and feels dumb near Teru (which he really hates), but he does likes that when Teru asks about his life, he listen to the answer, and remembers what he tells him.
He doesn’t believe in exorcists but does notice Teru gets new injuries every day, sometimes serious injuries. Mitsuba comes to the conclusion there is an uncomfortably high chance Teru is involved in something shady, maybe an illegal fight club (Teru just has a ‘vibe’ when he talks about supernaturals that put Mitsuba on edge)
Mitsuba eventually gets curious and lets Teru drag him to meet ‘his cool big brother’, and Kou is super sweet and happy to see Teru with a friend, so Mitsuba got a crush on his first meeting, even if he is angry about it and refuse to go out of his way to see Kou again, only seeing him on casual chance encounters.
Depending on how lonely Mitsuba feels he either seeks Teru out (anything to not spend his break alone) or avoids him as he would his old bullies, which confuses Teru, but he doesn’t mind, happy to have lunch with Kou.
Mitsuba would only consider him a friend when desperate for it or if his mom looks too worried. But usually, he doesn’t know what his relationship with Teru is: He doesn’t hate Teru but he also doesn’t like him.
He stopped interacting with him relatively quickly cause he think being friends with the weirdo that frankly, is stressing to hang out with, would ruin his chances of making friends with other people.
He is convinced his own personality isn't as bad as Teru's.
Their interactions got reduced to random talk when both are too bored and being the first person to go to when you need to borrow something, since they sit so close and do know each other. It's not hostile but more like friendly (?) acquaintances than friends. (I genuinely do not know how to describe their relationship)
When Mitsuba dies, Teru was close enough to him to feel the loss but not enough to grieve ‘properly’. It hurt, and he isn’t as bright for a week, but he moves on relatively quickly, going back to only focusing on his family.
Teru did not realize the weak ghost he exorcized is Mitsuba, only able to connect the dots when he heard Tsukasa say Mitsuba's full name. The idea he exorcised an old classmate will make him feel guilty and sad, but Teru won’t regret it or beat himself about it for long: He was taught since young that wandering spirits can become a danger if they try to cling to the near shore and that supernaturals are pitiful and selfish creatures that lose their humanity.
He had accepted Mitsuba, the human he knew, had died on the day his death was announced last year, and he had moved on from it.

Ngl there had better be a season 3 of ofmd tbh because like. At first I thought the finale was cute, but the more I dwelled on it the more I went "wow that was actually ableist as fuck and if they never address that, whether on-screen or from crew members themselves, I will be genuinely angry about it"
Spoilers under the readmore
So like. Izzy's death felt weird to me as soon as I saw it, but I couldn't figure out WHY at first. So I initially kinda glanced over it in favor of being like "awwww Stede and Ed are cute uwu"
But like. For one thing, I think it's kinda shitty how, if I saw it right, they...took off his prosthetic before burying him? As someone who uses a mobility aid (although it's a cane, but still) I could not IMAGINE having an ENTIRE LIMB, one that was a GIFT, be removed FROM MY BODY after my death...just so I could be without it? And have it made into a decorative (and not even symbolic) marker like "yeah here's the basically random and completely self-comforting place we buried him to make OURSELVES feel better, instead of somewhere meaningful to HIM. Also, here's the leg we gave him just to take away when we felt he didn't need it anymore, to show where the rest of him is"
On top of that, his death felt very, like. I dunno, lazy writing? Like they went for shock factor rather than actually have something meaningful? "Let's show this suicidal character growing as a person over the course of like 10 episodes, finally do him some hint of justice since we gave him none before, have him survive a suicide attempt, let him finally be happy...then kill him like three episodes after his suicide attempt." It really feels like a slap in the face to not only the fans who were rooting for him, but to people struggling with their mental health as a whole? It kinda sends a message, at least to me, that suicidal people can only be happy when they die. Which may be true for some, but it felt like...really underhanded and shady. I don't think there were ANY bad intentions, but it was still, in my opinion, a really shitty way to write out the end of Izzy's story. There were a million ways they could have had his death make sense AND have it be thematically consistent AND avoid ableist tropes, and yet...
I dunno. It really felt like they took a disabled, mentally ill character and fucked him over to make way for the canon couple so they could have their happy ending withiut the pining cripple getting in the way. Just like every other show does with its disabled characters. And then to TAKE AWAY his mobility aid? His PROSTHETIC LIMB? And to make it his GRAVE MARKER? I'm not sure if it was intentional, but that really does scream "fuck the disabled" to me. Like the writers deemed Izzy as being unworthy of a dignified end. His death would NOT have been much of an issue if it was treated with respect, as has been the case for other characters, but I feel like it just...wasn't. It feels POINTED
Idk. I'm holding out hope that we get a third season. And, if we do, I'm hoping that Buttons is gonna pull some kind of magic shenanigans that brings Izzy back, and that they address the ableist and anti-recovery bullshit that went on there

About Psychiatry stuff in SPYxFAMILY. Part 2
In Part 1 I covered some aspects of working as a Psychiatrist in a Hospital. We still have some things left regarding this topic. In Part 3 I'll talk a bit about Psych exams and wrap some minor details and the question about Donovan's head scars in Part 4.
Thank you for your comments in Part 1! You guys make some really interesting points, it's a pleasure to talk to you. I've noticed that some of you are asking for an psychoanalysis of the Desmonds. I may do so in a different series of analysis, but pinky promise, I will talk about Donovan's head scars in Part 4, as I wrote less there.
Let's go!
4. The rest of the Psychiatry Department staff
Tumblr media
Aside from Psychiatrists and intern med students, every Psychiatric Unit in a Hospital has nurses, psychologists/therapists (I'm aware that they're not always the same in some places, particularly in the USA), occupational therapists (OT) and social workers, between the most common professions.
The OT is kinda a new addition since the profession is relatively new compared to the others, and its inclusion in Psychiatric Units started around the 70s, focused in social rehab (a really important task). I think SPYxFAMILY takes place around the 60s so I'm really not sure if there is an OT here.
Are they all joyous like in the manga? Well...
5. What's the hardest part of the job?
Tumblr media
For what I've recollected from talking with Psychiatrists, the hardest part of the job of a Psychiatrist working in a Hospital is dealing with real nasty shit coming from psychotic patients. I remember a young Psychiatrist in a Psychiatric Hospital that told my class of the time when she had to physically restrain a patient from gouging his own eyeballs out of his eye sockets, because he couldn't stop seeing demons and horrible monsters. Or the ones that paint the walls with their own feces. As I said, real nasty shit.
Of course, this goes for the rest of the staff as well. Not a very happy place to work, but you gotta do what you gotta do for the patients's sake.
Still, fortunately we live in an era with more tolerance towards psychotic patients, and social rehab is very appreciated (although its value may depend on your country's public health policies). Also, most psychotic cases don't behave in such an extreme fashion. Hopefully one day science will discover the definitive cure for Psychosis.
Are you a Psychiatrist and have a different opinion? Please write in the comments below!
-Ok but talk about what Loid is saying in those panels!
Indeed, nobody can read minds. Even if someone could, I wonder what exactly that person would see. I mean, try to concentrate in what is at the top of your own mind for 5 seconds. A ton of thoughts came rushing, right? Some of them very shady, even if they just flashed for less than a second.
But, we have our tricks to discern what is the most important issue for a person. Listening to our patients free of pre-conceptions is a basic rule. Observing their behavior is another. You can't start to listen if you don't work on a relation based on trust, of course (something that, indeed, nobody can teach you how; good luck figuring it out, use this bunch of tips though. Best wishes, your Psychotherapy teachers).
That said, there are many things that you can listen and observe from one single sentence said by a patient, depending of your understanding of the human mind.
A famous baldy named Michel Foucault wrote a book titled The birth of the clinic in which he claimed that modern Psychiatrists operate under what he called the medical gaze, which is an attempt to put a group of symptoms into a gnosographic cathegory (aka diagnosis) regardless of the actual subjective experience of the patient. This implies that Psychiatrists, like any other doctor, need to determine a diagnosis before doing anything else, and care a bit less about the patient's experience.
This isn't something bad. Imagine having someone trying to gauge his eyes out of his head to stop seeing demons in front of you. Would you ask that person how does he feels, or what he associates with the demons? Now, it's slightly problematic when you, as a Psychiatrist, deal with neurotic patients.
Neurosis is the direct contrast of psychosis; you're either living in a paralel reality, or in this one. You, dear reader, and I, are both neurotics. The fact that we are neurotics doesn't mean that we are sick; it's just a psychic structure. Now, we could get mentally ill, in a lot of ways. There's a ton of diseases listed in the DSM-V if you feel curious. But we probably won't experience hallucinations and say Meh, here comes Charlie the Satirus again, wazzup bro.
Operating under the medical gaze logic makes things way easier for Psychiatrists, specially when they don't have much time to develop a relationship of trust with their patients, like in some Hospitals. We therapists cover the rest of the job, performing psychotherapy and operating under a listening clinic. I'll illustrate the difference with a really burd example:
Let's say that you have been having a hard time trying to sleep at night for a while, and you decided to look for help. A behavioral therapist will teach you techniques and excercises to fall asleep more easily. A psychoanalyst will try to make sense of your symptom by making you freely associate it with whatever comes to your mind. A Psychiatrist will listen to your description of your symptoms, write "Insomnia" in the diagnosis and prescribe some benzodiazepine. Easy peasy, come see me again in one month.
Of course, not every Psychiatrist is like this; I've met some helluva awesome ones working in Hospitals. But once again, wether they're allowed to display their full potential or not is a matter that strongly depends of every country's public health policies. Psychiatrists do receive training in psychotherapy and they can take their time to talk with their patients, but having the conditions to do so is a completely different thing. If you want to be treated by a full-powered Psychiatrist, your best shot is to consult in a private clinic. Mind your wallet though.
Seems like Berlint General Hospital is a really nice place to work for Psychiatrists, as they apparently can hold psychoterapy sessions with their patients. PLEASE HIRE ME
6. The consultation room
Tumblr media
It's pretty common to depict Psychiatrists and Psychologists as the guys sitting down next to you taking notes while you are laying down in a divan talking your sorrows away. But have you ever wondered why it's always a divan?
It all starts with old sweet Sigmund Freud in 1890. By that time he was just staaaarting to think that maybe hypnosis wasn't the way to go for female hysteria, and the idea of an unconscious mind wasn't developed yet. On that year, a female patient sent him an elegant divan as a thankful token.
Golly, thank you miss! But what the heck do I do with it? The only possible thing, of course! Cover it in persian rugs and make your patients lay down on it while you tried to hypnotize them.
Remember, we are in the 1890. By that time, there were still doctors that believed the only cure for female hysteria was generating a 'hysterical paroxism' (too embarrassing to explain here).
Less than 10 years later, Freud realized that hypnosis didn't cure female hysteria but noticed that his patients got better after talking about it. So he decided to just sit down and listen to his patients lying on the divan, thus inventing the Free Association method, which is, basically, talking about whatever comes to the top of your mind and associate it with whatever comes next. Before you realize it, you're talking about the actual cause of your mental suffering.
THIS. WAS. REVOLUTIONARY.
While their patients laid down in the divan, Freud was sitting right behind them, like in this photo:
Tumblr media
-Why like this? Why behind?! Are you some kind of pervert, you Freudian fiend?!
No. The reasoning behind this is transference, one of the most important concepts in Psychoanalysis, Psychology, Psychiatry, and pretty much every kind of Psy-discipline. Transference is what makes a psychotherapy work and yield its results. It also explains why psychotherapy fails, when it does. It's similar, not equal, to what Americans call "therapeutic relationship" or "therapeutic bond". Transference made to the world of Psychology what the Industrial Revolution made to the world.
-You're exaggerating. What even is transference, anyway? Wait, don't answer I was kidd-
In every relation you establish with someone there's a quota of transference, which is the subjective place in which you put that other person in relation to you. This subjective place stems from your own relationship with whoever took care of you in your very early years of life: your mom, your dad, your older sister or brother, an uncle, a nanny, a caregiver from an orphanage, you name it. It doesn't matter who, as long as that person was interested in you enough as to preserve your life and make you feel like your life has value.
We are born in such a helpless, defenseless way that our strongest desire is to be the object of attention of someone else, to be desired enough as to be feed at least 3 times a day. Of course, if you're actually loved in the process, the better. Desire here doesn't have a sexual connotation; it's to mean something for someone else.
To mean something for someone, even if you end up meaning shit for that person.
Sometimes, meaning shit is way better than have no meaning at all and being completely ignored as if you don't exist for anyone. I've seen this in a bunch of cases of victims of domestic violence. It's quite sad.
In psychotherapy, patients inevitably stablish a transference with their therapists, who act like a white canvas in which the patients display those early relationships and how they affects them. Notice that I'm using the present tense; transference is something that changes little over time, unless you decide to explore why you choose the kind of friends you always choose, or why you always fall in love with assholes, or why you feel like you can't tolerate your boss anymore despite him being a good person.
-Get to the point, goddammit!
In order to facilitate transference, Freud decided to sit down in an angle in which his patients wouldn't see him. The reasoning was: if my patient can't see me, I'm more of a white canvas for him/her, and transference will be easier to discern and analyze.
The divan is no longer used in modern day except by some Psychoanalysts, but it's just tradition to have a divan in your consultation room if you are a therapist, as a form of homage to the man who changed our understanding of the human mind forever.
I've never seen a divan in a Psychiatric Unit of any Hospital, and actually, its absence makes sense, because you must NEVER, EVER, PUT A PSYCHOTIC PATIENT IN A DIVAN. NEVER. NOPE. NOOOPENOPENOPENOPENOPE. They can't tell reality from hallucinations apart, and if you have THE SINGLE WORST POSSIBLE IDEA of sitting behind a psychotic patient in the divan, you'll only get the patient think that your voice is another hallucination and make everything worse for him/her AND FOR YOU, FOR BEING A NEGLIGENT IDIOT. If the patient ends up hurting you, YOU WOULD DESERVE THAT. Just use a regular face-to-face interaction.
Aaaand oops, I did it again. I wrote a lot. There are still some things I want to write about, so see you in Part 3, dear reader!

More thoughts on Hazbin Hotel pt 2 of ??
A follow up to this post here:
just gonna jump right in here, right where I left off.
Usual disclaimer about my religious upbringing coloring my thoughts/opinions on this show, etc. etc.
blahblahblah, let's go.
He’s the “Radio Demon.” This means he has a microphone-shaped* staff and talks like an over-the-top old-timey radio host at all times, complete with a radio filter effect over his voice. The voice is already grating enough for me to dislike him based on that alone. His eyes also sometimes transform into radio dials. Again, it’s not entirely clear why a small handful of the demons like Alastor embody different concepts like they’re Chainsaw Man devils when most of the others don’t, or why a human soul would even become the embodiment of a concept after death in the Christian Hell.
Again, I'm really not sure an explanation for the powers/themes is necessary. But we do get one for Alastor, at least partially. He's the radio demon because he live broadcasted his murders of various overlords over the radio. He's from the 20s, I'm pretty sure, averse to change and technology, etc. He earned himself that moniker, and tbh I'm not sure what concept you think he's supposed to be embodying?
If you mean the Seven Sins, then . . . idk how to tell you about why there's embodiments of the catholic Seven Deadly Sins in hell. It's pretty self explanatory.
When the microphone part of the staff is facing away from the camera, as in the screenshot above, it just looks like a butt plug.
That . . . kinda seems like a you problem.
Y'wanna know the best part about him? According to christian beliefs, if he'd accepted jesus christ as his lord and savior before death? He would've ended up in heaven. Serial killings and cannibalism and all. :)
He’s a sadistic cannibal with razor sharp teeth.
In his life as a human, he was a serial killer.
He is literally always smiling menacingly and is insufferably smug.
He makes shady “deal with the Devil” type soul contracts with characters as part of his vague schemes, seemingly wanting to play all sides at all times. Lucifer, the literal Devil, does not do this in this show, but Alastor does.
Not gonna bother with the "Lucifer is not the literal devil" bit.
But like . . . you do realize the other Overlords do this, too? Angel is in this sort of contract. It's a very real and sinister way of gaining complete and total ownership over someone. Can you not see why a character like Lucifer, a fallen angel who was banished for more or less just sort of asking some questions, wouldn't do this? He doesn't even want the responsibility of ruling his portion of hell, why would he want to own another person that way??
Despite being a sinner who previously lived a normal life as a human, he somehow seems to be the most powerful entity in Hell by a wide margin, even rivaling Lucifer. Both the pilot and the full series recount how he just showed up one day and started wiping out Overlords of Hell and claiming their territory. Alastor immediately stomps just about any threat to the hotel — that is, until the finale, where he needs to randomly lose against Adam and slink away into the shadows for a bit so that the actual protagonist of the show and her dad can beat the villain.
Not EVERY LITTLE THING about a character and his backstory is explained? BAD WRITING!!!!
I rankle at media criticism that calls characters “Mary Sues” or “Gary Stus,” so I won’t take that route here,
How magnanimous of you *eyeroll*
Despite seemingly contributing so little, though, Alastor is constantly derailing the main story so that we can follow him around and meet characters he knows. Of the eight 22-minute episodes comprising this season of television, four feature lengthy tangents about new characters spurred on by Alastor. This is what elevates him above being simply an amalgamation of a bunch of tropes I find annoying and turns him into a true menace to this show’s writing. When I say that the scripts feel like a first draft, that they don’t properly know how to spend their time, and that they place emotional beats in the wrong order, so much of that comes down to these Alastor-related subplots.
Weird, this character who's been in hell for so long, is an incredibly influential person there, and who actively goes out of his way to make social/business connections knows a lot of people? And is used in the narrative to introduce those people?? LIke, okay, sure, it could be kind of lazy writing. Or. And here me out here. Or. He could be a character who is NOT the main character, but who has significant enough connections and enough of an agenda to warrant his connections/those characters being introduced via their connection to him??
This, in turn, means we have to spend a bunch of time with Vox, and meet characters he interacts with, as if I give even a single shit about this old vs. new, radio vs. TV thing they have going on, or Vox as a villain.
Waaaah, this is too many characters! I can't form an emotional connection to a main cast of seven and several side characters, boohoo!!
Even still, Carmine launches into a big emotional ballad about the hard choices she’s had to make to protect her family and about how her actions have now put her family in danger, as if these aren’t all characters we just met.
You're literally complaining about a new character giving us some insight into who she is, her motivations, etc. Like . . . would you rather she confess to the killing and then whine about how it's too painful to talk about, or mysteriously claim she "had her reasons"? Should we just never learn anything about the characters, because "We like, JUST met them."
This could have been such a good source of drama for the main cast, but instead it’s handed off to some other random character in Alastor’s orbit.
The whole, ENTIRE point of the show and Charlie's story, is that she IS NOT INVOLVED WITH THE CONFLICT BETWEEN HEAVEN AND HELL. She is actively trying to STOP the cullings, the yearly slaughter of who knows how many of her people (who are literal human souls, remember). The only reason she even decides to fight is because Adam gives her no choice. And the only reason Adam is SO damn ADAMANT (lol) about moving the timeline up is because someone killed an angel, and he wants revenge, and for that knowledge to never get out. Because HE knows they're not invincible. The fact that no one else knows is the only reason his little hobby works!
Like, I'm struggling to figure out what you think would have been accomplished, storywise, if the angel's death had been due to one of Charlie's group. It would have given them an actual, concrete reason for being in shit with Adam and heaven, therefore completely nullifying their moral superiority in the conflict. The entire reason the fight is frustrating is because Charlie did absolutely nothing to deserve it, and there's nothing she can do to stop it.
At this point, even though it feels like no time has passed and no progress has been made, it’s apparently already been four months, with only two months remaining until the next
I'm not going to argue that the small amount of episodes makes pacing a mess. But you keep acting like that's the show's fault, or that it's just bad writing.
Charlie generally hates using her position of power as the Princess of Hell to support the hotel, even though you’d think she’d pull out all the stops to try and end the genocide, but here she finally caves and decides to get help from her dad.
*heavy sobbing about how you've somehow missed the entire point of Charlie's character, her struggle with her power, authority, and privilege, and how deeply she fears the responsibility that comes with that power, and why she never dares use it before it's absolutely necessary*
Despite being set up as a mysteriously absent figure by the first episode’s opening lore, Lucifer has just been… depressed over the fact that he signed off on the exterminations, and hiding in his house to ignore his problems.
I feel like you've just literally never been in a shitty situation with zero solutions, and only horrifying options that give you the chance to protect the one person you care about, while sacrificing others in the process. Which is weird, considering the capitalistic hellscape we live in, but whatever. Considering you're always bitching about the length of the season/how the story suffers for it, where would you have liked them to examine Lucifer's participation and feelings about that, exactly?
I got zero indication that Alastor is supposed to be like a father to Charlie.
That's because it wasn't. there. There's theories about this, about how Alastor was worried Lucifer was butting in on his hotel gig, and once he realized that wasn't the case, he backed off a bit. He's literally trying to piss him off, and claiming to have a more father/daughter dynamic than Lucifer has with his own daughter was the easiest way to do that.
Husk made a bet with Alastor and lost, meaning that Alastor now owns Husk’s soul.
Fundamentally untrue. Which you'd know, if you'd been paying attention.
Did you know that the slave owner who chains up the only Black-coded character on the main cast and threatens to torture and kill him is also supposed to be the token aromantic asexual representation on the main cast?
We don't want your virtue signaling here. Villains are allowed to be queer. We are not supposed to see this and think that Alastor is some uwu cutie innocent aroace idol to look up to. Also I'm probably just a dumbass but I didn't realize Husk was black-coded, so. That's on me, I guess?
“oh yeah btw Alastor owns Husk as a slave and threatens to tear him apart if he acts up” and then expecting you to still care about whether or not he’ll help Charlie teach Sir Pentious how to say thank you or what the fuck ever. That is the problem.
Now I'm just wondering if you've just never been around this kind of person. The others don't know about this? He is incredibly good at hiding his more insidious actions and behaviors, while simultaneously letting just enough of them show to keep the rest of the cast on edge about him. I understand the discomfort around people making excuses for him, but that isn't the show's fault? And also, like, idk if you've ever encountered an abuser, but they are CONSTANTLY surrounded by people defending them because all they've ever seen is the nice side, or because they're too cowardly or naïve to believe the worst of them. Alastor is not unique in this way, and how fandom reacts to characters isn't the fault of the media.
Despite damn near every new episode introducing new characters, none of them stay at the hotel.
Literally no one else in hell believes in what Charlie's trying to do, or believes it's even possible. Angel openly admits he's there at first because it's a rent free place to stay (when he was, apparently, previously living with Val, and oh my gods I will NOT be getting into how fucking impactful it is to have a safe place to live and sleep when you're in such a dangerous relationship/situation).
And Pen ends up there pretty much completely by accident, because he's never had friends before, and quite literally has no where else to go. The Vees are more or less done with him, and would probably kill him on a whim if he showed his face around them again.
(Also, I have a hard time believing they could’ve pulled off a longer season at all, given it took them like three or four years just to make eight episodes.
Have we heard any news about GRRM's next book, lately? Some people work slowly. Chill.
To me, the big problem with the pilot was that, when you really get down to it, the emotional core of Hazbin Hotel is about a rich girl from the upper echelons of society — a princess, even! — picking a crack-snorting gay sex worker up off the street and trying to turn him into a “proper” member of society.
Alright, this is where I came in and went "now, hold up."
See my previous Thoughts post to see why I think this is a really fucking stupid black/white view of the premise.
And like, obviously I’m not saying every romantic relationship needs to be sexual — ace people exist.
Get my identity out of your fucking mouth.
But when you’re telling a story about a slutty gay guy who’s ruining his life by having too much sex, and how he’s being “saved” by a wholesome woman who never has impure thoughts, that… kinda sucks?
Do we even know how or why Angel came to be in the hotel? Did Charlie seek him out? Did he happen to find her place and go "oh finally, a safe place to sleep, away from my horrible abuser," and jump at the opportunity, weird ideals be damned? He's never portrayed as "ruining his life by having too much sex" and I don't know where you got that idea. He's showed, multiple times, to be a deeply hurt and traumatized individual who's self-destructing because he got into an abusive relationship that he literally cannot leave, probably tempted in by the money, the lifestyle, and/or because it was his chosen industry in the first place.
I'm pretty sure Charlie also literally claims that she's just trying to give people some love and care, some understanding. She's also working under what she thinks heaven's ideals are. She has a vague idea of what heaven considers holy/virtuous, and is idealistic enough to believe she can achieve that in her guests, somehow.
Once she realizes not even heaven knows how to get there, she drops her ideals pretty damn quickly. She stops pretending that there's some difference between Adam being a sexist, abusive asshole and being good enough for heaven, and Angel being a porn star/sex worker and not being good enough for heaven. There are no rules, and her idealistic, naive mindset isn't serving her, or her friends.
and it’s implied there’s a history of sexual abuse as well.
A history of sexual abuse? Inflicted on Angel by the man who vindictively forces him to film sex acts he's not comfortable with, or that might hurt him physically/mentally, because he owns Angel's literal soul and enjoys hurting him this way/reminding him of his place?? *gasps and faints* No! No way. There's no way this was implied.
Cuz it was fucking explicitly shown to us. Just because Val isn't the one literally assaulting Angel on screen (sexually, physically, or emotionally), doesn't mean that their relationship as it is shown on screen isn't sexually abusive. It absolutely is. Angel is a literal sex slave.
Other episodes also can’t help but give Angel dark jokes about his abuse, such as an offhand line about how Val’s been waterboarding him lately. “I don’t know, it’s a kink,” he shrugs.)
Trauma survivors . . . and abuse victims . . . make . . . dark jokes? About their situations?? *clutches pearls*
I won’t say this song handles these heavy topics delicately— the controversial visuals depicting Angel at work are extremely sexually charged, and people absolutely have every right to find it uncomfortable
Have you experienced sexual abuse in the past? If not, shut the fuck up about how someone portrays it "not delicately" in a show like this. That scene hit me like a fucking train, in its realistic and shattering depiction of how these kinds of abusive relationships work, how horrifying it is to be broken like that, over and over again, to the point that you've gotten so fucking good at dissociating that you don't even notice yourself doing it. How desperately trapped and broken you feel, knowing you have absolutely zero say in who touches you, or when, or how, or for how long. And Angel knowing that so many of his assaults are being packaged and sold as sexual entertainment to other people?? Horrifying. Heartbreaking. And if you have never been in Angel's place, you do not get to comment on how "delicately" the show portrayed his situation.
Horrendous porn industry abuse is maybe a little much for this “life sucks, but what can you do?” mentality.
*watches the point fly so far over your head that it nearly collides with a commercial flight*
Husk is not trying to tell Angel that his suffering isn't valid, or that he needs to just get over it because hey, life sucks, etc. He's trying to show Angel that he's suffering (partially, a very, very small amount) needlessly. Because Angel has let himself believe, for who knows how long, that he's ALONE. That no one could ever possibly understand what he's going through. That even if he did tell someone, they'd tell him exactly what Val does. That he deserves it. That it's his own damn fault. He has been struggling and suffering all on his own, believing he isn't worth being listened to or helped or empathized with, for too long.
Husk is just trying to remind him that he doesn't have to suffer alone. There are people out there who will believe him. People who will understand and empathize with him. He just has to open up a tiny little bit and let them see the person he is underneath the very reasonable self-defensive persona he wears.
Yes, this show riffing on the Christian afterlife and sins and redemption does not actually have a list of what it considers a sin. They don’t even use the Ten Commandments. For that matter, God isn’t a factor at all, even though you think he’d be the guy deciding all this stuff.
Oh no! The writers forgot to figure out the criteria for getting into heaven! They didn't write out an exhaustive list of what they, personally, as story writers, consider a bad enough sin to condemn someone to hell! It couldn't possibly be that that's THE ENTIRE. FUCKING. POINT.
How many more times am I going to have to point out the point you've missed??
Also, like. Nah. If you knew anything about what most christians actually believe, they have a single guaranteed ticket to heaven (most of them, some of them believe in the good works, etc.) and that is "accepting jesus christ as your lord and savior." And that pretty much boils down to "believing that jesus died on the cross for your sins, and that you're inherently a bad, evil person who is only going to go to heaven by the infinite grace of god who . . . was going to condemn you to hell . . . by default . . . if you didn't say a little prayer about inviting jesus into your heart. . ."
This means that, quite literally, someone like Alastor could feasibly have ended up in heaven according to this doctrine, if he'd recited a prayer before dying. Serial killings and other various bad deeds aside, as long as he believes in jesus as his personal savior, he's good to go. Once you've said those words, there's literally nothing that can take that ticket to heaven away from you.
Which actually makes me a little uncomfortable and also I find it a little funny? That according to a lot of christians, I'm still guaranteed a place in their heaven based on the fact I accepted their deity into my life as a child, and that there's nothing you can do that can change that, after the fact. (I think the one exception is, like, denying god? Maybe? In which case maybe I'm good.)
What really bothers me is when Angel stands up for himself against Valentino at the bar, saying he can do what he wants outside of the studio, which Charlie treats as the example of Angel “sticking it to the man” that Adam wanted. And I just… yes, this moment is a win for Angel Dust against his abuser, but it’s gross to me to treat it as a moral win, y’know? To act like standing up against his abuser is what makes Angel Dust a good person deserving of a spot in Heaven? Come on.
*quietly sobbing into a pillow*
Again, we’re supposed to want Angel Dust to clean up his act so he can go up and live with people like this in heaven? Really??
Literally NO. Literally. No one has been rooting for that from the beginning! Anyone who is at ALL familiar with the inner workings of "the church" knew where this was going. The only reason Charlie didn't is because she's NEVER ENCOUNTERED HEAVEN OR ITS PEOPLE BEFORE MEETING ADAM. And she's just idealistic enough to hope that he's not the standard she should expect from them.
So I guess redemption and becoming an angel is still supposed to be desirable? After all that???
*more quiet sobbing*
We still don't know why he ended up there. We don't even know there isn't some greater being (a god or what have you) working behind the scenes, who knows that Pen is just the person they need in heaven to finally breach the fucking barrier between the two worlds and like, idk, be a literal bridge between the two worlds and cultures? I really don't think this show is going to end with everyone happily in the heavenly afterlife. Really.
the series has been unable to actually say anything critical of conservative Christian values and the idea of sin.
Absolutely disagree, but I'm willing to bet you've never deconstructed before. So I forgive you.
At best, season one gives us a message about double standards and forgiving people for past sins, saying that if people can change their ways later in life then they should be able to get into Heaven after all, regardless of their past mistakes. Which, uh. Is already a thing most Christians believe? Like, hello??
It worries me that you can't see the ways Charlie is misguidedly trying to work within a system that is rigged against her, believing the other side is acting in good faith. Like . . . I'm afraid you can't see how this parallels real life social issues, and that's very, very concerning to me.
So, uh. I didn’t like this show very much.
This entire article leaves me with one very important question:
Who gives a shit??
No, seriously. Who fucking cares? So you didn't like a show that you already knew you weren't going to like?? Fucking. Move on with your life. Let people enjoy things! Let people simp for their problematic fave! Let people design "cringey, overdesigned" characters! Let people tell stories that are messy! Let people enjoy stories that are messy!
Let
People
Enjoy
Things
And stop shitting on media that you knew you weren't going to like in the first place! Stop commenting on things you don't understand! Stop trying to "advocate" for identities who don't need your condescending mentions that you use just for ally points! Just. Stop it.
Go watch something you enjoy, and leave us the fuck alone.

Idk if you ever mentioned this, so imma ask: What would Viri's and Loid's dynamic be? How would they interact with one another? What are her thoughts on the Cavia? Does she have any overall opinion on the Murmur, Albrechts Labs,The Vessels, etc? Also, what's her opinion on Kalymos?
I'm pretty sure the most I've talked about the new content-adjacent things is just how Viri ended up being the Chosen Operator due to Wally targeting specifically her!
Anyways.
Viri and Loid - she didn't particularly enjoy being called a deserter, but it's not like Loid is privy to her sad and tragic backstory and how she was brainwashed into servitude. Viri has experience mediating with cranky people so she mostly let Loid lead her from task A to task B while watching out for his emotional reactions to the Indifference. Once the events of the quest pass, Loid apologizes to her for his initial hostility, but Viri assures him that they can mend that over a cup of milk coffee and a slice of cheesecake, so they keep in touch and Viri brings him snacks from the outside world and tells him of all that has happened since he went into cryostasis; including updating on what the Entratis are up to upstairs. Long story short - a bit of a rocky start but they end up becoming friends.
Cavia - broke her heart in a billion pieces! ESPECIALLY Tagfer. Viri's father, Amadeus, was a virmink breeder who was infamous for his attachment to his "specimens", he would give a name to each and every virmink he bred (even the failures that had to be put down) and was very attached to them. Tagfer's depression over losing Minn shook Viri to her core. She now sometimes wonders if the virminks she and her father looked after also shared such deep feelings within the recesses of their minds...
The murmur - since they function as Wally's minions she feels responsible for holding them back, especially due to her strong affinity for the Void. Sometimes they whisper to her and call her a traitor - the murmur sense the void angel within her, and think she is one of them but are confused as to why she attacks them or more importantly - why she can resist their master's call.
The lab and vessels - Viri has seen her fair share of weird science, her mother worked on infestation, but Viri never-ever found out what exactly she worked on since it was top secret. Albrecht is an Orokin and Orokin doing shady, dangerous shit was not something that surprised her in the least. She would just quietly catalog anything interesting, but mostly keep it to herself (usually she forwards all information to Ergo for Perrin safekeeping, but Viri promised Loid that nobody outside of a select few Tenno are allowed to know of the Sanctum's existence).
Kalymos - little known fact! Viri adopted a hyekka kavat whose name is Bacchus! She loves naked kitties! Circling back to the Cavia and her father's work, Viri is definitely an animal person; she is used to handling them and respects them almost the same way you would respect a person. The question is whether Kalymos would like Viri...
Here is a picture of Bacchus as a bonus:
