#he cheered Naruto on and was proud of him in his chunin exam fights
Text
People need to learn to hate a character without coming up with the most BS excuses.
You cannot actually tell me Naruto learned more from Jiraiya, or Sasuke learned more from Orochimaru than they did from Kakashi
Jiraiya taught Naruto Rasagan and Summoning.
All we see Sasuke get from Orochimaru is his summons, and he also has an eagle summon so clearly he couldn’t even just have only the snakes to connect him to his ‘master’
Meanwhile, Kakashi taught Naruto chakra nature, how to use his shadow clones, Basic Chakra control, is stated to have improved all three of his students exponentially before the chunin exams, and of course he taught all three of his students the importance of teamwork and protecting their friends over the mission. A lesson that Naruto and Sasuke both take to heart in their own way.
He taught Sasuke the chidori, which Sasuke evolved into other types of chidori style jutsu’s. He also helped him improve his taijutsu so much in a month that Gai, the Taijutsu master, was impressed and concerned about the training Kakashi put him under for that month.
Sakura is the only one who we can confidently say learned more from her master, and Kakashi can’t teach medical ninjitsu (he only knows basic medical ninjitsu and that’s only after the way) and states himself he’s not the best at teaching chakra control (hence why he asked Ebisu to help Naruto with that during the month between chunin exam fights)
Like…
Hate Kakashi all you want but calling him a ‘Bad Sensei’ is factually incorrect for what we see. Even when he screws up it’s not out of malice or thinking he just knows better. He’s genuinely trying to help his students and just screws up.
It happens.

Hey there! Today I’m sharing my story for the @quirknojutsuzine’s Heroes Volume. I couldn’t help but write about our favorite underdogs!
Izuku inhaled deeply through his nose. His emerald eyes were closed as he focused on the nuances of his body— his muscles tensing as he flexed into an offensive stance, blood thrumming through his veins, oxygen surging into his lungs with every full breath. He could feel the energy simmering just beneath the surface of his skin, coursing through the finely-interwoven network of chakra vessels contiguous with the inner workings of his being. He willed it deep into his cells, bulking up their energy and strength capacities until they felt full to bursting. Izuku then snapped his eyes open, and with a harsh battle cry, surged forward to begin relentlessly pummeling the wooden workout dummy situated in the middle of the empty practice field.
“Hah!” He yelled as he delivered a savage punch to the middle of the practice dummy’s chest with enough force to crack an average person’s sternum; on the oak wood construction, however, he only managed to splinter the outer surface of the timber. Izuku didn’t dwell on it, preferring to slide across the grass in a side-step as he imagined his opponent attempting to counterattack.
“Hup! Hah! Ya!” He punctuated each blow of his palms against the mannequin’s imaginary ribs with yells. The wood groaned as it sagged at an angle, the earth around its stake bubbling up as the force of his palm strikes reverberated through the dense substance. Izuku once again side-stepped his make-believe opponent, finishing it off with an upward kick to the back of the dummy’s head. With a sickening crack, the neck of the wooden body splintered down the middle; the squat cylindrical structure rolled off the dummy’s body to land in the grass with a soft thud.
Izuku took a few moments to steady his small, patterned pants of exertion, flicking his sweaty pine-green bangs from his forehead. He couldn’t help but smile elatedly at the fractured chunk of the practice mannequin.
“Hehe,” he chuckled to himself and nudged it with the toe of his sandal. Kicking through a solid mass of wood was no easy feat, so he was shamelessly proud of himself. With a determined smirk, Izuku clenched his fists, his leather knuckle guards squeaking as they stretched with the flexion.
“I can’t get complacent!” he reminded himself. “There are lots of good competitors in the final round of the Chunin Exams. I have to train extremely hard every day so that I can show everyone what I’m really made of!” Izuku could think of several big-shot contenders in the upcoming competition, but his ultimate desire was to defeat his childhood rival, Katsuki Bakugo. A green flame practically alighted Izuku’s eyes as he fantasized about throwing Katsuki down into the dirt while the crowd cheered for his victory.
“That’d be so nice,” he breathed dreamily, body sagging with imagined triumph.
Izuku whipped around as the bushes suddenly rustled wildly, hand shooting to the equipment pouch secured to his leg. Rumors had been flying of fights and conflicts between ninja of opposing villages, and the last thing Izuku wanted was someone to get the drop on him before he had his chance to shine. Just as his nimble fingers flipped open the pouch’s flap, he spotted a familiar sheen of black hair styled in a bowl cut and large, rectangular fuzzy eyebrows.
“Oh! Lee! It’s you,” Izuku sighed in relief as the spandex-wearing ninja pushed through the underbrush to step out into the clearing. Izuku’s eyes cringed as Lee shot him a blindingly toothy smile.
“Forgive me! I did not mean to startle you! I was not aware that anyone was training here,” Lee said amicably as he strolled over to the green-haired boy. “Ah, you are training for your Chunin examinations, yes? That sure brings back memories,” he grinned satisfactorily as he held his chin in the webbing between his thumb and forefinger. Izuku laughed lightly, dimly recalling that Lee passed his Chunin examination about a year ago. Apparently, he had been critically injured during his first attempt by a rival ninja from the Hidden Sand Village. Izuku and most of his inner circle of friends were still in the Academy at the time. He shuddered as he recalled the devastating attack on the village that interrupted the exam, resulting in their Hokage’s death. Now that I think about it, it kind of does feel like forever ago…
“Yes, yes! It was such a riveting time, battling it out with the fiery spirits of our youth!” Lee crowed dramatically, raising his leg to kick the air a few times. Izuku squeaked as the air literally caved in on itself from the powerful kicks, buffeting him with a few dense winds. Lee chortled again and dropped his leg to settle his hands on his hips. “If I have heard correctly, you are Izuku Midoriya, yes?” Izuku compulsively straightened and snapped into a respectful bow, admittedly honored that an older ninja knew him by name.
“Yes! That’s me! But… How did you know?”
“I just have a sense for these things!” the boy responded while posing dramatically. Izuku frowned as a bead of sweat rolled down his face, but hadn’t the heart to question his logic. “So, you are the one they say cannot do ninjutsu or genjutsu.” Izuku felt a cold flush of embarrassment and shame run through his veins. He folded in on himself, clenching the fabric of his wire mesh armor in his hands as his lips trembled.
“Yeah…”
“Do not fret!” Lee chirped. Izuku’s eyes shot up to see him flashing him a thumbs-up and a grin. “It is nothing to be ashamed of!” Izuku felt his heart flutter a little at the reassurance, and he looked up again.
“Yeah… One of my team members seems to think otherwise.”
“Ah. I see. You have the pleasure of being on the same team as a born genius,” Lee guessed with an amused chuckle. Izuku’s mouth fell open in shock. How is this guy so good?! “Do not seem so surprised. I only know because I suffered the same unfortunate situation when I was a Genin. Life is not kind to those who have to work hard.” Lee shrugged, brushing past Izuku to pick up the broken head of the practice dummy. With an appreciative smile, he tossed it up in the air and caught it, then tucked it under his armpit to turn back to the Genin. “Luckily, I had the best sensei ever to encourage me!”
“Me too!” Izuku beamed, jumping forward with gleaming eyes. “Toshinori-sensei is the coolest! He’s the one who told me that I could be a ninja even if I can’t do ninjutsu or genjutsu.”
“Oh, your teacher is the legendary ‘All Might’? I would be jealous if Guy-sensei were not the absolute greatest ninja in existence,” Lee smirked playfully. An argument danced on the tip of Izuku’s tongue, but at the last moment, he decided against arguing the merits of mentors with an esteemed elder ninja. Instead, Izuku nodded eagerly in confirmation.
“That’s right! I was so happy when I got assigned to him! All Might has been my role model since I was really little!” Izuku’s smile softened, and he looked down at the crisp green grass flattened and worn by dozens of booted feet flying across the clearing during intense training exercises. “All I ever wanted was someone to tell me that I was good enough… and he did. I’ll do everything to live up to those expectations.” Izuku gasped and looked up as Lee suddenly released a broken sob. The boy had tears streaming down his cheeks as he tilted his head back and clenched his bandage-wrapped fist.
“How beautiful! Izuku Midoriya, you truly exemplify the spirit of youth!” he sniffed in extreme admiration. Izuku yelped as Lee surged forward to suddenly slap his hands down on his shoulders hard enough to sting. “I have complete faith in you! You will become a splendid ninja, even if you can only do taijutsu, and one day your rival will acknowledge your genius!” Izuku found his own eyes watering, and it took only a small sniffle for the fat tears to breach the dam of his lashes and roll down his freckled cheeks. He nodded vigorously and gripped Lee’s upper arms tight.
“Yes! I will do my very best, Lee-senpai!”
“Splendid! Now, why don’t you show me what you’ve got?” Lee grinned, pushing him a little to spring back. The older boy seamlessly fell into an offensive stance, one arm held behind his back as the other flexed at a ninety-degree angle, his fingers folding in a simple “bring it on” gesture. Izuku screamed and began wildly flapping his arms as panic and dread crashed over him.
“Wh-wh-wh-what? N-no way, I couldn’t possibly! I mean, you’re several years older than I am and have had so much experience, and my techniques surely pale in comparison to yours; b-b-b-besides, you’re a Chunin, I’m sure you have much more important things to do than waste your time helping me- although it’s greatly appreciated, I’m so honored, Lee-senpai, but-”
“Izuku,” Lee interrupted pointedly. Izuku ceased his babbling to blink at him curiously, with his arms still held up in a pinwheeling motion. “I am asking because I want to see what you are capable of. If you think so lowly of yourself, I am sorry to inform you that you have no chance of getting very far in the finals,” he explained matter-of-factly, an uncharacteristic harshness settling in his black eyes. Izuku slowly eased his splayed limbs down, regarding Lee with wide emerald eyes. Once his words fully sunk in, a surge of anger and determination pulsed through him. An indignant smirk stretched across Izuku’s face as he melted into a fighting stance, causing Lee to grin excitedly.
“All right, then. I’ll give it everything I’ve got!” Izuku promised.
“Good!” Lee appraised, enlivened. “I expect nothing less from an underdog.”
Izuku, undeterred in the face of absolute genius, surged forward with a fierce battle cry, determined to prove without a shadow of a doubt that genius resided within him too.

Boruto EP223
aka: mini kakashi
So the repaired the stadium but aren’t allowing any crowds since the last exam was attacked. I guess that’s fair and if they’re broadcasting the event out then there’s no real reason for people to actually attend.
Aw, I’m glad  Himawari is still friends with those two kids from her academy training class.
Haa, I love how Naruto knew exactly how to convince Kawaki to go watch the exams.
I’m still kinda skeptical that winning just your match allows you to pass and become chunin, like is one fight really enough to gauge their abilities?
Of course Boruto and Mitsuki are gonna be running late since they’re helping Himawari. They’ll probably be the last match anyway.
Amado was taken?
I really can’t cheer for one person to win, I like both Inojin and Houki.
Oohh Inojin is fast with his super beast scrolls now
Well damn!! Houki is capable of quite an impressive earth style!
“Houki has the ability to instantly recall anything he’s seen once. He’s memorizing the terrain as he’s running around.” Well that’s quite interesting.
Honestly, why didn’t Inojin draw out a bird to escape into the air sooner? Could’ve saved him all that worthless running throughout the maze and a couple injuries.
Houki was able to shoot him down from the sky yet Inojin decided to strike back with a diversion, how gutsy.
Aw, Ino watching the match from the flower shop.
Inojin actually lured Houki in with ink splatters and captured him with the mind transfer jutsu too, clever move.
What in the hell is this?? It’s like Houki turned into a literal nightmare.
I’ll be damned, Houki actually won.
“It’s a jutsu that blocks out mental attacks. If a member of the ANBU Black Ops is captured, the enemy might peer into their mind. And so I’ve trained Houki and the others to resist that.” Sai sounds so proud in saying that, despite his own son losing.
To survive that kind of training must’ve been so harsh. Sai’s team is no joke.
Time for the second match and Boruto and Mitsuki are still nowhere to be found. How long does it take to search a single train?
Iwabe vs Wasabi next? Oh that’s no surprise either. Both have been competing against each other this whole exam.
Preview thoughts:
Wasabi does seem a bit unfocused, I wonder why?
Oohh team Shinki actually came to watch!!

Debunking Haters Arguments
NaruHina only happend and Hinata made the heroine was cause she was popular.
This is actually wrong there are a total of 7 character polls and extra 1 in the third databook.
Now if you look at the results of the polls Hinata while she stays one of the more popular characters, actually loses out to Sakura in popularity more times then not.
However her popularity has always increased after she is put in the spotlight you would expect for a heroine to have.  This means that Hinata didn’t become the heroine cause she was popular, but that she became popular cause she was put in the role of the heroine.
Character Poll 1 Chapter 60
1st poll Sakura is ranked 5th while Hinata 10th now this is to be expected as Hinata along with the rest of the Konoha 12 weren’t introduced till chapter 39 only 20 or so chapters till the 1st character poll voting period ended.
However however you can tell Hinata is one of the more popular characters and the reason for this is clearly cause Hinata introduction puts her in the role of the heroine, she likes Naruto the protagonist, wants to help him pass the test even though she could get in trouble while showing she cares about him. We also got her Dojutsu the Byakugan introduced.
Character Poll 2 Chapter 107
In the 2nd poll Hinata ranks 6 while Sakura 14th.
Now this poll’s voting period is during the preliminaries and Chunin exams where Hinata is further put into the role that you would expect a heroine to have.
First you have her cheering for Naruto during the Kiba fight where it reveals she has been watching and admiring Naruto for a long time. She understands him better then the other characters knowing how he was treated and that he was alone. Then when the fight is over she gives Naruto some ointment.
Now you have the Neji and Hinata fight where she is getting attacked emotionally by her evil cousin who is using her trauma against. We find out she was emotionally abused by her family and having gone through similar circumstances as Naruto being hated for treated as a failure for somthing that wasn’t her fault.
Then Naruto cheers her on inspiring her. Hinata stood up with the same determination and guts Naruto has always shown and even sharing his nindo. She fights till she starts coughing up blood and even almost dies not giving up till the end just like our boy Naruto.
She loses and the hero is one of the first to rush to her side and is shown to care about her quite a bit. Not willing to let Neji insult her efforts Naruto swears a blood oath to beat him for Hinata.
Next we have the proud failure speech, this is the first time Naruto has shown us his weak side and it is not to his team or Iruka, but Hinata who he opened up to. He opens up to her in a way he has never done before and she shows just how much she understands him and restores his confidence just like how watching Naruto always did for her Hinata returns the favour.
Feeling touched Naruto leaves saying he likes girls like her and goes on to beat Neji fulfilling his promise reforming Neji and the rest of Hinata’s family in process and wonders if Hinata was watching.
Now thinking about we have her cheering him on and understanding him better then anyone else, her getting cheered on and inspired by him, him swearing to avenge her, she restores his lost confidence and then goes on to keep his oath and beat the bad guy reforming him.
No matter how you look at it the whole the whole interaction between Naruto and Hinata during this voting period screams she is the heroine. It is no wonder she ranked so high when she is basically Naruto’s motivation to beat his current rival/ antagonist during these arcs and perfectly fills the role of a heroine.
Character Poll 3 Chapter 151
3rd poll Hinata keeps her position at 6th place and Sakura goes to 9th place. Neither of which really show up in much during this voting period.
Character Poll 4 Chapter 199
4th poll Hinata’s drops to 12 place while Sakura moves up to 10th, with Sakura taking back the lead. Though this is to be expected as Hinata shows up like once during this voting period and doesn’t do much. As where Sakura is looking after Sasuke, crying for him not to leave and makes Naruto promise to bring him back.
Character Poll 5 Chapter 245
5th poll voting period ends at the start of part 2. Hinata is in 9th place while Sakura 8th both of them not having any real scenes or doing anything besides Sakura asking Tsunade to teach her and Hinata seeing Naruto off.
Character Poll 6 Chapter 292
6th poll Sakura and Hinata are still close to each other 12th and 13th place. During this voting period Sakura gets many more moments along with some new competition as new characters are introduced.
Databook 3 Character Poll  chapters 245 to 402
The databook poll Sakura is 6th, while Hinata is maintain 11th this isn’t much surprise as for the last few voting periods Hinata hasn’t had many scenes or did much while Sakura has.
Character Poll 7 Chapter chapter 531
Now for the last and 7th poll Hinata once again surpasses Sakura taking 10th place while Sakura is in 12th place.
Now as you can see this voting period includes the Pain invasion arc where Hinata is once more thrust into the role of heroine where she tries to save Naruto who is about to be captured and facing certain doom as well as confesses to him.
This leads to Naruto breaking the nine tails seal, but despite him going berserk Hinata who was at ground zero is perfectly fine as Naruto avoids her and even has a moment where he looks at her in his enraged state before going to fight Pain. Once he comes to his senses he also cries tears and clutches  his heart when he finds out Hinata is alright.
This is once more classic heroine moments, the hero is in danger, said heroine goes to save him, confesses to him gets hurt resulting in the hero powering up while losing his reasoning. Despite that the heroine is completely unharmed by the hero. Like seriously we have common cliches that are used for heroines here so it is no wonder Hinata’s popularity raises when she is put into the the role of the heroine.
Conclusion
Hinata didn’t become the heroine nor ended up with Naruto cause she was popular, but that she became popular cause she was put into the heroine role.
Out of the 8 polls we had during the series Sakura beats Hinata 5 times, while Hinata only beats Sakura 3 times. Now when you look at what happens and what arcs are in the voting period you can clearly see that Hinata’s popularity raises during these polls cause she is fulfilling the heroine roll in them.
Sakura ranks higher then Hinata in most of the polls so it makes no sense to say that NaruHina only happend cause Hinata was popular when the reason she became popular was cause she was given the heroine spotlight. This means popularity didn’t affect Kishimoto putting Hinata in the heroine role or getting her with Naruto otherwise by popularity Sakura should have gotten with Naruto.

We All Wear Masks Sometimes
Author: Lopithecus Pairing: Hatake Kakashi/Maito Gai | Might Guy Rating: General Audiences Word Count: 1674 Alternate: AO3 Summary: Kakashi comforts Gai after Lee gets injured during the Chunin exams Warnings: N/A Author's Note: This is for day 6 of KakaGai Week 2020 ( @kkgweek ).  I have a feeling a lot of the fics/art that are going to use this prompt are going to be Kakashi focused. So, I decided to do the opposite. This is set just after the preliminary round during the Chunin Exams. Also, it’s not made explicitly clear that Kakashi and Gai are together, but it is implied that they are. Please enjoy! Prompt: Day 6 - Mask
Gai has a habit of pretending to be okay for everyone else's sake even if he's not. He'll smile and laugh, say something with poetic prose, and then throw out a thumbs-up with a hand on his hip. Sure, on good days he actually is like that, Gai's personality having been molded very carefully and lovingly by his father, but Gai's father could only do so much. Kakashi knows this.
Sometimes Kakashi thinks he's the only one to know this about Gai.
On days that are hard, the really bad days that all shinobi get no matter how cheerful and optimistic one can be, Gai amplifies the theatrics to one hundred. No one really notices, no one besides Kakashi, because Gai never lets anyone get close enough to him to show his real personality. Sure, the man is close to his friends, closer still to his students, but he can't act weak around them. He can't let his friends' teasing bother him and he has to be the perfect role model for his students.
With Kakashi, it's different.
Maybe that is what happens when you grow up fighting a war together and lose everyone you love? You tend to latch onto the one that never left. You hold onto them like they are your lifeline and if that line were to ever get cut then you would drown.
Or maybe Kakashi is just being overly dramatic and it has nothing to do with that. Maybe it's just a testament of how long they have been friends that allows the two to be open with each other and no one else. Kakashi has never been great at interpreting attachments and he's the last person to try to make it into a healthy conclusion in his mind.
He's always been a little bit codependent on the people he's cared about.
Gai especially.
Maybe that's why, before he goes to fetch Sasuke from the hospital to begin his training, he sets out trying to find Gai. He checks the training grounds first and finds Tenten and Neji there. Tenten is helping Neji train but Gai is nowhere in sight. Not surprising, considering where Lee is currently and in hindsight, Kakashi probably should have checked there first.
Still, just so he doesn't make a wasted trip to the hospital, he steps out of the bushes and makes his presence known to the Genin. "Yo."
They both turn to him. It's the first time Kakashi has actually interacted with Gai's students in the year that he's had them. It's shocking, really, considering how much Gai loves to challenge him. Although, Gai hadn't interacted with Kakashi's students until the beginning of the Chunin Exams either. It almost makes him want to laugh and he's kind of sorry he missed that introduction. He would have loved to have seen the little brats' faces at meeting Maito Gai.
"Kakashi-sensei!" Tenten greets him eagerly, pink coloring her cheeks, while Neji doesn't acknowledge him at all. He's not surprised they know his name. Maybe the Hyūga is mad at him for stopping him from killing that Hinata girl?
"Is Gai at the hospital?" he asks, getting straight to the point. He doesn't have all day. Sasuke is waiting for him.
"Oh, yeah! You just missed him," Tenten tells him, her smile disappearing. "He's visiting Lee but said he'd be back soon if you want to wait."
It's just like Gai to divide up his time between his students despite his overwhelming worry about Lee. Kakashi waves the invitation off. "I'll go see him there. Thanks."
Tenten slumps in disappointment and Neji crosses his arms, turning away. He waves goodbye at them anyway. He doesn't need them complaining to Gai about his behavior and then Gai giving Kakashi a huge speech about treating young Genins with more respect.
He doesn't go into the hospital once he's there. He'll be back to get Sasuke and going into the building one time is one too many in Kakashi's mind. So, he waits outside, flaring his chakra a little to let Gai know he's there. He doesn't expect Gai to come out and greet him right away and about five minutes later, he is exiting the building with a wide smile.
Kakashi can already tell it's fake.
"Kakashi! My dearest Rival, what do I owe this pleasure?" Gai strolls up to him, arms out in a gesture to hug Kakashi. Kakashi lets him, wrapping his own arms around Gai's solid frame. He has a feeling Gai needs this comfort right now.
When they separate, Kakashi gestures with his head. "Take a walk with me."
Gai's smile twitches, threatening to fall but Gai has always been a master at forcing himself to smile through everything. It stays steady on his face. "Very well."
They walk in silence and they eventually make it to outside a hot spring. Kakashi leans down on the railing of a bridge, staring at the water beneath them. It reminds him that Naruto is probably searching for him this very second to train him and a pang of guilt clutches at Kakashi's chest. He does wish he could train both him and Sasuke. They both have very different skill sets, however, and if Sasuke is going to be going up against that sand jutsu, then Kakashi needs to focus on Sasuke at the moment. He'll have to get someone else to train Naruto and, although the thought to ask Gai to do it does cross his mind, Gai has too much on his plate right now. Plus, Naruto is going up against Neji. It might be a bit of a conflict of interest.
So, instead, he settles on someone else. "Is Ebisu available?"
Gai walks up beside him and leans his arms down onto the railing, much like how Kakashi is right now. "I believe so, yes. Why?"
"I was thinking of asking him to train Naruto before the final competitions in the Chunin Exams," he says.
Gai looks out into the water. "I think that would be a great idea. Ebisu is very capable. I can ask him if you want?"
Kakashi shakes his head. "Just have him meet me at the hospital. I have to pick up Sasuke."
Gai perks up at that. "Has Sasuke fully recovered?"
Kakashi picks his words carefully, thinking about Lee. "More or less."
Gai narrows his eyes at him, suspicion playing on his face. "You don't have to be gentle with me."
"And you don't need to pretend with me." Gai stares at him and Kakashi pokes him in the cheek. "Let yourself feel things."
Gai scoffs, goodnaturedly. "Says the man who is the master at suppressed emotions."
"I think we both are pretty good experts at it, wouldn't you say Gai-kun?" Gai scowls at the honorific. It's not very often Kakashi uses it. It's mostly to try and lighten the mood a bit. It doesn't seem to work. "Gai, what I said during the preliminaries about the gates…" He trails off, biting his bottom lip. He sighs and wonders if he sounds a bit hypocritical. He’s never been a fan of the gates for obvious reasons, after all. "I meant what I said afterward. I was out of line."
Gai shakes his head. "No." Kakashi furrows his brows in confusion. "You were right. I should have never taught Lee it. He's too young."
Kakashi frowns and reaches up to place a comforting hand on Gai's back. "You were even younger when your father started teaching you how to open the gates."
Gai huffs and pulls away from Kakashi. "And maybe he was wrong, too."
"Gai…"
"He died because he used the gates and… and I'm not condemning him for it. He used them to protect something precious to him, to protect me, and that is something to be proud of. But maybe… maybe I was too young, too?" Gai bows his head. "Maybe he should have never taught me it… because now Lee has almost died from using the gates."
"Gai," Kakashi pulls him closer so that their sides are pressed together. "That wasn't your doing. It was that kid from the Sand. He is the one who almost killed Lee."
"Lee would have given up sooner if he didn't have the gates."
"No, he wouldn't have." Gai looks up then, surprise written all over his face. "Gai, that child, is exactly like you when you were his age. You wouldn't have given up, would you?" Gai shakes his head. "Exactly. So gates or no gates, there is no doubt in my mind that Lee would have fought with everything he had and would have never given up."
"So, then you're saying it's a character flaw?"
Kakashi chuckles with exasperation, laying his forehead down onto Gai's shoulder. "No, I'm saying it's admirable." He lifts his head to look Gai in the eyes. "Stupid sometimes but admirable."
It gets Gai to laugh, a real laugh, and Kakashi's heart warms at the sound. He pulls him a little closer, carding his fingers into Gai's hair. He ruffles the strands, messing up the bowl cut and Gai tries to pull away in complaint. "Kakashi!"
Kakashi lets him escape and watches as Gai tries to smooth his hair back down with his lips set in a pout the whole time. It's adorable and he's glad he's managed to make Gai feel a little better. He's not very good at it most times but when he succeeds it makes him happy. Especially if it's Gai.
"Gai." Gai stops his ministrations on his hair, looking up at Kakashi. He's much more relaxed now, genuine seeming. "Lee will be okay. He's stubborn like you. Nothing will keep him down."
Gai stares at him for a few seconds, thinking, before a real smile breaks out on his face and he sticks out a thumbs-up in Kakashi's direction. "Most definitely, Rival!"
Kakashi chuckles again and, with an amused shake of his head, he throws an arm around Gai's shoulders, walking back to the hospital with him.
—————————————————————————————————
A/N: Don't worry. I didn't forget about the fact that Gai needs to have Ebisu come to the hospital. I just didn't write it in. What I imagine happening is, once back at the hospital, Gai uses a messenger turtle to instruct Ebisu to get to the hospital. It probably scares the shit out of Ebisu at first, thinking something bad might have happened to Gai until he gets there and Kakashi explains everything to him. He is not amused. XD
Thank you for reading!

Shikaku Nara Masterpost: Part 1
Guess who went through all the Naruto episodes that Shikaku speaks in and made a masterpost of them all? Saving you the time and effort searching for the Shikaku crumbs. This isn’t spoiler free and I’m including a read more for the mobile users bc there’s about 54 episodes to cover all together.
(The episode titles that are in italics are my personal favorites!)
So here we go:
NARUTO (PART ONE):
Tumblr media
Episode 59: “The Final rounds: Rush to the Battle Arena” (Chunin Arc)
He’s in it for a few minutes in the beginning. You get to see drunk Shikaku so that’s worth it. He wasn’t expecting Shikamaru to make it past the first part of the exams.
Tumblr media
Episode 79: “Beyond the Limit of Darkness and Light” (Konoha Crush)
3 minutes at best. The good news, we get to see InoShikaCho in action. The bad news in order to see the whole thing you gotta skip to Shippuden episode 239.
Tumblr media
Episode 98: “Tsunade’s Warning: A Ninja No More!” (Tsunade Retrieval)
4 minutes. He tries to explain to Shikamaru that women are strong but his son is in his “bleh all women suck” stage so much for that speech. I’m just there for the chain mail t-shirt.
Tumblr media
Episode 110: “Formation! The Sasuke Retrieval Squad” (Sasuke Arc)
Only in the very beginning reiterating that Yoshino is a strong woman and her smile is the reason he loves her. Everyone knows the speech.
Tumblr media
Episode 135: “The Promise that Could Not Be Kept” (Sasuke Arc)
He’s in it for a whole 5 minutes but those minutes are important. Shikaku tries to make Shikamaru understand that quitting the shinobi lifestyle after his first failure won’t stop the fighting but, if he stays he can lead teams and prevent others from dying. It seemed tough but those words stuck to Shikamaru. Also Shikaku smiles because Tsunade complements him? Hello?
NARUTO SHIPPUDEN (PART TWO)

Episode 82: “Team Ten”  (Asuma’s Death)
Jumping right in he’s in this episode for 6 minutes however it’s an important bit. He knows Shikamaru is suffering and he also knows shinobi shouldn’t be emotionless when it comes to grief. That’s all. Right there.

Shikaku discusses the first meeting strategy for the war and then assembles the medical squad. 3 minutes tops.
Tumblr media
Episode 267: “The Brilliant Military Advisor of the Hidden Leaf!” (War Arc)
One of the best episodes. It’s all about Shikaku and his brilliant mind. Key points: Onoki mentions how amazing Shikaku’s plan is and even when there was a hiccup Shikaku managed to reroute his original idea into a successful one.
Tumblr media
Episode 270: “Golden Bonds” (War Arc)
Physically he’s in the episode for 2 minutes but he does a lot of disembodied voice overs to Shikamaru. Key lines: He tells Shikamaru, Ino, and Choji to “Be confident” and that “when old legends die, new ones are born” to try and cheer the kids up. It worked.

Translated to English:
Hello, I don’t know if somebody has already asked you this, but why did you choose NaruHina over other ships*? Like NaruSaku, where is more explicit that Naruto is in love with Sakura and that she is starting to return his feelings, or SasuNaru, where they have a bigger and more established bond?
Subsequent asks:
Do you believe that Naruto had a bond with Hinata? If so, how would you prove it?
Why is it difficult for people to understand that stating that Naruto cared about Hinata doesn't deny what he had with Team 7? Or why is it difficult for NH fans to accept that Naruto's first ties were to Team 7?
* As an aside, I feel the need to point out that the Spanish version of the first question used Google Translate so the term “ships” (derived from the word “relationships”, and used in fandom parlance to refer to fan preferred romantic relationships) is translated literally to Spanish, that is: “ships” = “boats” = “barcos”. The thing is, we Spanish speakers don’t use the term “ships” when referring to fan-preferred romantic relationships, and a proper equivalent term doesn’t really exist in Spanish (or at least, not as far as I know, you never know what neologisms will come from the Internet after all). So, we simply refer to them as “parejas” (that is “pairings” or “couples”).
That clarification aside, I stated before I was going to reply to these asks, so here we are. Very belated reply, but I spent most of October and November swamped with work and hadn’t had the time or energy to reply before, especially as I ended extending myself and essentially composed an essay.
So, without further ado, the reply is below the cut. I ended composing it in English as the subsequent asks came in English, so I presumed whoever send the questions was more proficient in that language. I put it below the cut for the benefit of whoever doesn’t want to read my shipping rants:
Regarding why I chose to ship NaruHina over other ships, to put it simply, I just found NaruHina’s dynamic and relationship far more endearing.
At the core, NH is a very tender love story: Two kids who suffer from being looked down and rejected (him by most of the village, her by most of her family), ultimately find mutual support and love on each other. Specifically, I found that the scenes both of them have together during the Chunin Exams arc carried a lot of emotional torque, and those scenes made me fall in love with the couple. Those scenes are also the ones that I would use to establish the bond between Naruto and Hinata, because yes, I do think they have a bond, and is a bond we see blossom as the manga progresses even if (admittedly) is not a bond that receives a lot of focus.
He starts as a snotty and troublemaking brat, the worst student in his class and the village pariah (and a pariah for reasons that are not his fault and were absolutely beyond his control). But in spite of all his mistakes, he never surrenders and persists on making reality his impossible dream, no matter what everyone else says. His courage and determination end catching the eye of this quiet, timid girl, who is rejected by her family due to her lack of strength. Her admiration for him inspires her to become braver and stronger, and in the process she adopts his nindo (“I’ll never go back on my word”). Ultimately, said admiration also ends blossoming into love.
At the third Chunin Exam, after seeing Neji trying to demolish Hinata’s confidence with cruel words (cruel words that ring far too close to home for him), Naruto cheers on her, which motivates her to confront her fears and battle Neji in spite of her cousin surpassing her in skills by far. Hinata’s courage and determination during the fight end impressing Naruto in spite of her defeat. Neji’s brutality also motivates him to avenge her honor (and with a blood vow, no less), as he feels kinship with her.
Before the fight with Neji at the quarter finals, Naruto feels down as his opponent is really strong and, in spite of all his training, he is not sure that he can actually defeat him. By chance he ends running into Hinata. She thanks him for cheering on her previously and muses that she is finally starting to change a little and likes herself more now. At her words of gratitude, Naruto drops the bravado and turns sincere with her, revealing that in spite of his boasting, he doesn’t think a “failure” like him who is always making mistakes can defeat a genius like Neji.
In response, Hinata proceeds to encourage him, stating that what she admires of him is not that he is perfect, but rather that in spite of making mistakes and failing he has the ability to rise and try again. She considers said ability true strength, hence why she considers him a very strong person, or a “proud failure” as she calls it (and incidentally, this is another detail that makes the ship endearing to me: Hinata is among the first few people who sees beyond Naruto’s flaws and realizes his true worth). Her words end cutting deep into Naruto (just the way he looks at her completely wide eyed shows how much she affects him) and help him to recover his determination. He leaves to face Neji but not before thanking her, stating that while at first he considered her a weird and plain girl, she is actually “a person [he] truly like[s]”.
Later during the fight, after Neji explains the tragedy of his past and the reason for his fatalist outlook on life and destiny, among his rebuttals of said outlook Naruto calls Neji out for his treatment of Hinata, pointing out that Hinata also suffered like him yet still was desperately trying to change her own fate (thus showing us that Naruto also understood Hinata’s plight). Finally, after the fight and Naruto’s victory, his first thoughts while basking on the audience ovations are (at least in the manga): “Where is Hinata? Did she saw that?” (Of course, Hinata is unconscious at this point due to her prior injuries acting up when she saw Neji injuring Naruto, but that’s a bit beside the point).
As you can see, in that entire sequence of events mentioned above is shown that they end forming a bond in their mutual understanding and support of each other, as well as in their shared nindo. It’s not a bond that receives a lot of focus later in the story, admittedly, but it’s still there and later developments in the manga don’t really negate it. Indeed, we end seeing a couple of actually significant story events that ultimately reinforce it.
I’m talking of course of Pain’s invasion of Konoha (when, while trying to save him from Pain, Hinata confesses her love to Naruto, explaining how he inspired her to change and become better, then Naruto goes straight to Six Tails in rage after watching her being injured by the villain) and the battle between the Shinobi Alliance versus the “Uchiha Sith Lords” and the Juubi (when, after seeing Neji die in battle while protecting him, Naruto is about to surrender to Obito’s rhetoric due to failing to protect his friends, yet Hinata stops him and encourages him again, helping him recover his fighting spirit while telling him that his feelings for his friends were not a lie and pleading him to not let Neji’s death be in vain). Both scenes also have a lot (and I mean, A LOT) of emotional torque, and reinforce the theme of mutual understanding and support that runs in the ship. On the whole, it’s a really positive bond, as it essentially drives both characters to uplift each other.
Now, while there is some of that NaruHina dynamic (“mutual understanding and support of each other”) in the other two ships that you mention (NaruSaku and SasuNaru), there are also things regarding their respective dynamics in the canon that make them… well, far too troubling for my personal taste.
In the case of Naruto and Sakura, their relationship dynamic (especially in the anime adaptation) resembles a lot the typical “Tsundere” dynamic that you see in a lot of manga and anime: A protagonist who has a crush or is in love with a girl with a bad temper, with said girl always punching him out every time he tries to woo her (or otherwise does something stupid or perverted in front of her), although she gradually warms up to him as time passes. I have to clarify that, strictly speaking, I’m not really against that kind of relationship dynamic in anime and manga (indeed, I like a few ships in other series that have that kind of dynamic). However, in the case of Naruto and Sakura, I find that dynamic pretty troubling, primarily due to Naruto’s backstory, hence why I never shipped them in a romantic sense (although I must add that I do like their relationship at a platonic level, as they do have a couple of pretty tender scenes together).
I might also clarify (pertaining to how you phrased your question) that while Sakura does warm up to Naruto as time passes and starts considering him a good friend, in the manga it’s never explicitly show at all that she starts to return his feelings. At most it’s only briefly implied during the early arcs of part II, but the “fake confession” scene during the Iron Country arc essentially throws the possibility by the wayside.
As to Naruto and Sasuke… well, first it’s important to recognize that the manga’s author never intended their relationship to be seen in a romantic way, but rather as a sibling-like relationship. Of course, that doesn’t negate that their bond is central to the storyline, neither that it receives a lot of focus for most of the manga and it also has scenes with a lot of emotional torque. All of that inevitably leads to shippers pairing them together in a romantic way, regardless of what the author’s intentions were.
That being said, while there is also a theme of mutual understanding in their bond of brotherhood and rivalry that also drives them to uplift each other, the problem is that… well, to put it bluntly, their relationship becomes extraordinarily toxic for a pretty big chunk of the story. I mean, seriously: For most of part II of the manga (and most of Shippuden in the anime), Sasuke becomes a massive cretin and jerkass that treats his loved ones (including Naruto) like garbage, causing them a lot of emotional pain and strife. Sasuke also tries to murder his closest friend in multiple occasions and Naruto literally has to give an arm in exchange before the Uchiha finally has a moral epiphany and decides to change his ways. Given Naruto’s backstory, once again I find that dynamic extremely troubling and distasteful, hence why I’m not fan of pairing them in a romantic way.
(I might probably also add that it’s because of the above paragraph why I’m not really fan of SasuSaku either. I have made my peace with that pairing mostly because Sarada is one of my favorite characters in Boruto).
As to your final question… well, I can’t speak for everyone in the fandom neither want to make any generalizations, but from what I have seen around online, it seems to mostly boil down to classic fandom rivalry.
Naruto ran for almost 15 years with the characters locked in a messy love dodecahedron that the author didn’t intend to resolve until the very last second. During that time the different fandom factions that formed around every ship obviously came to blows, with rivalries and grudges forming. The net result is that a lot of people in the fandom have become extremely hyper-defensive regarding their preferred ships, with some people often overstating the importance of certain bonds while simultaneously minimizing other bonds. You certainly see it happen in all the shipping fandoms: There are some NaruHina fans that minimize the importance of Team 7 bonds with Naruto, as well as some fans of ships involving members of Team 7 who take issue with the notion of Hinata also having a bond with Naruto.
It doesn’t help that some fans (usually very young ones) have a very… well, “immature” understanding of love and relationships: Falling in love with someone shouldn’t mean that suddenly all your other relationships become “lesser”. Thus, the fact that Naruto fell in love with Hinata in the canon of the series doesn’t mean that his bonds with his team mates, friends and teachers no longer matter. On contraire, all of them are important in different ways.

Ayesha Liveblogs Naruto Shippuden S19
Lmao @ Shikamaru flirting with Temari before greeting the Kazekage #Priorities
Why bother giving these kids the data from those chunin exams they were there they ARE the data
“You'd know more about the reason behind the interruption of the final rounds and its chronology” Shizune fucking calling out the Sand omg ‘remember when u tried to murder us? I do’
“She hasn't changed a bit” and u love her for it Shikamaru
Why is Kakashi even here lmao he doesn't have a team of Genin this time around it's just because he's competent and adorable I guess
The Team 7 outro I weep SP is really stabbing me in the heart
Fu is a handful and I love it
“You want to find some way to bond with the rebels?” historically that's actually worked out pretty well it seems
I'M SCREAMING ARE WE GONNA SEE SAKURA'S CHUNIN EXAM
“She just might be tougher than [Shikamaru]” Ino <3 Sakura 5ever
KAKASHI COME INSPIRE YOUR BABY GENIN SHE DESERVES THIS
I feel a little ripped off that Kakashi didn't get to be the Angel of Cheering People Up but I'm proud of Sakura either way and I am i n  l o v e with the idea of watching her Chunin exams
They were so excited to see Naruto it's a shame he's not real
This timeline where everyone takes the Chunin exams a year before Naruto comes back implies that there were at minimum 9 Leaf Chunin made in a single exam
It also puts very little distance between Neji making Chunin and Jonin but I guess to be fair Kakashi was made a jonin at 9
Hjghdskhfhlvhl Team Guy Dynamics:
Tenten: We're being split up?
Lee: We'll be on our own for this?
Neji: [already walking away]
SHIKAMARU INVIGILATES LIKE A SUPER VILLAIN WHAT A DRAMA HOE
“Thanks for having my back” Literally half of Shikamaru's screen time is flirting with Temari I love it
Neji why do you have to be so dramatic do you really need to use jutsu as visual aids in your explanations
THIS BITCH FIGHT BETWEEN NEJI AND THE SAND SHINOBI IS SO GREAT
Sand Siblings @ Gaara probably: Will you stop talking about Naruto for like ten fucking seconds
Neji stepping in to save his girl Tenten my heart
Fu is so cute omg “I want to make a hundred friends”
I'm willing to believe Neji can recognize a jinchuriki's chakra right away bc of his fight with Naruto
“Dwelling on the misfortunes of birth is meaningless” same Shira same
I have a hard time believing Sakura couldn't take down that scorpion without Fu but plot I guess
I CAN'T BELIEVE FU JUST ASKED THE KAZEKAGE TO TAKE A BATH WITH HER
“Gaara!” “Sorry, just thinking” Fuck how often does Temari have to shake Gaara out of thinking about Naruto lmao
Kiba has to spread his legs as widely as possible mid-air his philosophy is truly ‘Dicks out for Shinobi’
Ninja who are about to partake in infiltration, loudly: Scatter!
I also have a hard time believing that a Byakugan user of Neji's skill would be so easily taken in by genjutsu
Honestly Team Guy is prime OT3 material their teamwork is amazing and they lift each other up constantly
This is the second time in this set of exams that Team Guy has helped not only their competitors but also ninja from a different village the Leaf truly raises their babies right
“I wanna know which one's more valuable to the village... is it the boulder or you?” Still working on the charisma thing huh Gaara
Every mission Team Guy goes on:
Tenten/Neji: Lee how about we think about this before we start-
Lee: JUMPING INTO ACTION
“Please apologize to him!” I adore Lee
I'M SCREAMING NEJI IMPLYING THAT HE IS RIVALS WITH NARUTO INSTEAD OF LEE HE'S TRYING TO BREAK UP THE BAND
‘Hey Shira what's your technique?’ ‘Breathing really hard’
“Two Heaven scrolls. When should I break it to them?” Further proof that Dad!Neji would be ridiculous he has trouble breaking bad news to friends let alone babies
Kiba @ Hinata: Pay! Attention! To! Me!
I fucking love how Kiba has no qualms about anything gross like biting a slimy guy ‘let me at him’, breathing into my dog's nose ‘of course’, running around covered in dog urine ‘just a Tuesday’
These episodes have reawakened the inner Kiba/Hinata shipper in me
“Forget I ever mentioned Naruto okay?” omg I’m not sure I’ve ever seen Kiba blush before but the second he was called out about Naruto there it is
“Their persistence is extraordinary” this is true about the entire village tbh
It’s not fair of you to compare your shadow clone abilities to a boy with a chakra demon inside of him Kiba
“I can tell just how hard Naruto trained out here” so what ur saying is that u smell Naruto’s sweat
Kiba’s sure ready to brag for someone whose plan was just playing dead
“It’s the fault of the whole team” I don’t remember this guy’s name but I have a feeling that if Minato were alive he’d love him
“No you’re wrong it was me” Ggfkjghdfkghkd Kiba pls why are you like this
“Be nice and give us your scroll” tru Shinobi of the Leaf
The Look(TM) Neji gives Lee when he gets Tenten in a bad mood
TENTEN’S HONESTLY WATCHING NEJI FROM THE BUSHES WHILE HE TRAINS LIKE HE DOES NOT HAVE THE BYAKUGAN
“We’re able to fight so aggressively because we know that you have our backs” Guy is such a supportive sensei 10/10 (no pun intended)
“How did they turn out anyway?” “I have my doubts about them” LEE PLS
Real talk does the Akatsuki not know that the person hosting these exams is a jinchuriki he is the Kazekage
“Hi there, are you guys cliff-climbing too? Hang in there” KAKASHI HATAKE WITH SHITTY TRAINING PUNS COMING 2 SAVE MY LIFE
Honestly Guy is the only sensei who seems to train his own kunoichi directly because both Ino and Hinata have clan-based jutsu and all of Kakashi’s babies were taken in by the Sanin
“The great nations don’t understand pain” like half the Leaf Village is orphans what more do u want from them Ajisai
“The Hidden Rain will soon be reborn” “Does that mean you’re gonna be more friendly then?” suffice to say the answer was no
Love my Leaf boys who won’t let people from other villages be attacked in an unfair way even by their own fellow villagers
Lee realizing that trash-talking insects doesn’t really work lmao
Props to Lee for not holding a grudge against Gaara because he was both the reason he was injured before the last invasion and also one of the invaders
“Sensei, have I gotten stronger since the last Chunin exam?” “Well, you should have” Inspiring self-confidence with Might Guy
What a gentle and peppy intro it’s a change of pace from the intense bops
Thank you!!!!! I still don’t understand why Sakura couldn’t take out the first insect because she’s like the strongest woman alive
Omg Ino gently taking Sakura’s hand to heal it my bisexual heart <3
“Where’s Shikamaru?” “He’s seeing off the delegates from the Hidden Sand” HE’S FLIRTING WITH TEMARI MY BOI
I aspire 2 be as committed to avoiding talking about my feelings as Asuma Sarutobi
Tsunade just doesn’t have the energy to entertain student rivalry lol
“You just broke my concentration since you kept peeking over at me” this entire episode is incredibly gay and I love it
“Because of you, I’m going to the place where I belong” this is ninja code for gay marriage (see: Tenzo’s infinite Tsukuyomi scene)
I LOVE SAKURA SHE PICKED A FIGHT WITH A SCORPION TO GET DINNER FOR HER FRIENDS MY KIND OF GAL
It actually makes complete sense that Tsunade never intended for Ino to become a medical ninja because it’s not Ino’s strongest technique but it’s useful on multiple levels
I don’t know what Ino’s future job is supposed to be but I hope it’s Head of the intelligence division bc of Inoichi’s legacy
Honestly Sakura becomes even more impressive when you consider every battle she fought up until the war she was consistently depleting her chakra it’s a disadvantage similar to Kakashi’s sharingan and yet she not only managed to keep from being hospitalized but also was able to fight the Akatsuki and perform surgery
Honestly what on earth is this Sasuke business what a non-sequitor
Take a shot every time Orochimaru kidnaps a child
The fact that Sakura braces for impact bc she won’t even consider dodging at the cost of abandoning Ino’s body nfdgbfdgjdhfb
“I don’t care about the Chunin exams, I want to have my revenge!” okay Anime Bride of Chuckie
“He’s probably forgotten all about you and has already found a better partner” Kurama truly hitting Naruto where it hurts
I’m so proud of Sakura she is absolutely fucking adorable
“Gaara, let’s get dinner” I’ve never heard those words said so intensely
Why is the animation on this sand so much better than the animation on literally anything else
“Make sure he doesn’t step foot outside” lmao @ Gaara’s siblings trying to babysit him even though he’s the leader of the village
FURTHER LAUGHTER AT GAARA SNEAKING OUT OF HIS ROOM LIKE THE TEENAGER HE IS
“This will take a lot more than gutsiness to overcome” [Naruto in the distance: How dare u Neji]
TEAM GUY CUDDLING OUT THE SANDSTORM I LOVE THEM!!!!
“I told you I was right,” said Mikoshi, as he began to drown in a pit of sand
Oh my god Fu wants to make a hundred friends to end all wars what a gal
“He sounds exactly like the kind of guy I’d like to meet and become friends with” that’s actually sad both because she dies before she can really know Naruto but he does meet her eventually through the tailed beasts
“Well, see ya!” jbfjhdkfjhgkjh Team Jonin Sensei is truly a beautiful thing
It takes the Akatsuki like three days to extract a tailed beast and this dude is trying to do it in 30 seconds good luck my dude
Poor Neji he can’t stand to disappoint other people
“We can’t just ignore someone in distress” Team Guy Saving People During the Chunin Exams Count: 4 <333
Take a shot every time someone on this show fantasizes about Naruto
“Yes, but that’s only because he’s a fool” this might be the closest Gaara has come to insulting Naruto in years
I want so badly for Neji and Gaara to be friends I love lonely ninja boys
"Get ready Fu, you’re next!” “Okay!!” I’ve never seen someone look so excited to get poked in the stomach
“I thank you, Neji. Never thought you’d rescue me” Team Guy Saving People During the Chunin Exams Count: 7
Take a shot every time Gaara tells someone about his crush on Naruto
“I wanted to try to heal the hurt I’d caused everyone” Gaara <3
Why are there so many heaven scrolls that seems to be all that anyone has
Gaara @ all the exam participants: You get to be a Chunin! You get to be a Chunin! Everyone gets to be a Chunin!
OH MY GOD I JUST REALIZED THAT AJISAI IS ONE OF THE BODIES OF PAIN I DIDN’T REALIZE IT UNTIL THE EXAM WAS OVER BUT THEY’RE ABOUT TO CONFIRM IT
Are we about to watch a montage of all the people who died since the Chunin exams
Oh my GOD Fu trying to befriend Kakuzu RIP
Well I guess Neji’s double promotion makes way more sense than him taking a Jonin exam like months after his Chunin exam but still what an arbitrary decision-making process

Something to Prove, Chapter Thirteen: Finish Line
Rating: T Warnings: Swearing Words: 1933 Fandom: Naruto Summary: As Suna prepares for its first independently-held chunin exam since Gaara became kazekage, the sand siblings must make sure that everything goes off without a hitch.
First  Previous   Next
The second day brought a much larger crowd than the first. Around half the shops in Suna had closed for the event; there wasn’t any revenue to be made from those in the arena, and many of the residents had chosen to attend, themselves. This resulted in a need for increased security. Several jonin and chunin from Suna were scattered about the arena, and Shikamaru was fairly certain he had identified one or two black ops agents intermixed with the crowd.
He appeared next to Baki, who stood at the back of the northern stands, surveying his charge. “Anything?” Shikamaru asked, glancing over at his fellow ninja.
Baki shook his head slightly. “Don’t get too comfortable. The matches haven’t started.”
“Right.” With that, he was gone as quickly as he appeared.
He met with Temari in the same position they had taken the day before.
“Everything’s clear,” she informed him. “Gaara and Kankuro are going to be watching, too. I don’t think anyone would be bold enough to try anything.”
“Let’s hope not.” The energy was already high. Shikamaru had already run through every possible scenario. The highest level of danger would come from having Gaara and Naruto in the same place at a well-publicized event, but one would have to be truly stupid to attack when so many ninja were in attendance. Although he couldn’t be sure, he doubted that even the Akatsuki would be so daring.
“Well, then, we’d might as well get started.” Temari gestured for him to follow her out into the arena.
To their benefit, one of the Sand genin had been injured too badly in the preliminary rounds to fight in the next match. His win was narrow. The Cloud genin had fallen to the ground three seconds too early. Both were rushed to the hospital for internal and external injuries, and his victory had been announced in his absence. He hadn’t been cleared by the medical ninja in time to participate, which left an even eight competitors.
Two from the Leaf, one from the Rain, three from the Sand, and one each from the Rock and Cloud.
The goal was to give each village an equal chance at sending their genin into the semifinals. The first three matches would pit each Sand contestant against genin from the Rain, Leaf, and Rock. The fourth and final match would be fought by the remaining Leaf genin and the genin from the Cloud. For the entertainment of the spectators, Shikamaru and Temari had done their best to match the contestants with similar levels of skill. Those without ninja training wouldn’t be able to see much of a difference between a match of two genin fighting with C-level jutsu and one with A-level. So long as the battles stretched out long enough to be entertaining, actual skill didn’t matter.
Of course, for the jonin commanders, these longer matches would give them more time to evaluate the genin’s skills. All around, it seemed to be the best method, and it was one that had worked well for them in the past.
The names on the digital screen skipped about, giving the implication that the matches were completely random. It hadn’t been hard for Shikamaru to pull a few strings and assure the outcomes they already had planned. As Temari expected, the first two names to pop up were those of Hideaki of the Sand and Masato of the Rain. Among cheers from the spectators, both young men leaped down into the arena, kicking up clouds of sand on either side of Temari, who stood between them.
Neither contestant had much of a chance at passing the exam. It was harsh, but true. They had both been carried along by their teammates through the first two trials, and they’d gotten lucky in their last matches. They were skilled, but neither of them were prepared for promotion to chunin. Their purpose was to warm the crowd up for the more intense matches that would come later in the day. Of course, they had no idea that this was the case. Insults had already been hurled, and they were both having trouble remaining still. If Temari didn’t start the match soon, they might disobey her orders altogether.
“Begin!”
She barely managed to get out of the way in time. As she approached Shikamaru, she growled to herself about the impatience and complete disregard the two genin had just demonstrated.
“Think we’re gonna have to step in?” Shikamaru mused, his eyes following the movements of their first contestants.
“No. I’m sure they’ll take care of it themselves. I don’t think they have the skill to risk killing one another.”
The match ended sooner than she’d anticipated. The Suna genin surprised the crowd when he changed techniques from fire-based chakra to wind, placing the lightning-based chakra of his opponent at a disadvantage. Their techniques weren’t refined, but they had enough of a grasp on their elemental natures that, once the Suna genin attacked with wind, the outcome of the match became certain.
Shikamaru entered the arena to call the match, announcing the winner. One down, three to go. If they stuck to their schedule, the semi-finals and finals might even fit into their allotted time.
The digital screen started up once more, flashing through the names of the genin as the arena was cleared from the last match. When the names stilled on the screen, they declared that Azami of the Sand would fight Konohamaru of the Leaf.
Temari pulled out the stat cards for both genin as they entered the arena. This battle would be much more intense than the last, if she and Shikamaru were correct. She was distracted by the sound of running footsteps, somehow not surprised when she saw Naruto rushing clumsily down the stone stairs.
“Can I watch from here?” he asked, almost pleading. Clearly, this was important to him.
She glanced out at the field, where Shikamaru stood between the genin. It wasn’t hard to guess what his answer would be.
“So long as you don’t cause any trouble,” Temari warned, tucking the stat cards safely away and out of his line of sight.
Naruto’s anxiety was almost contagious as he watched Kohohamaru fight. In Temari’s opinion, he stood a good chance of being promoted by the Leaf. His aim was accurate, and he showed the split-second decision making that was necessary in a leader. Even the way that his squadmates deferred to him outside of combat was impressive.
The spectators erupted into cheers when Konohamaru’s kick made contact with the Sand genin’s torso, sending her flying into the wall. She fell to the ground and didn’t move to get up. With that, Shikamaru declared him the victor.
Konohamaru’s match had sent the crowd into a frenzy. Temari was surprised she didn’t get booed when, after the fourth match, she declared an hour long break. The victorious genin needed time to recoup and be treated for injuries, but the lapse in entertainment was sure to annoy those in attendance.
Some chose to leave in search of lunch, while others took advantage of the opportunity to move to better seats. As for the proctors, Shikamaru and Temari chose to climb into the viewing area so that they could sit, giving their feet a short rest. Shikamaru dug around in his pack and removed a bag of food pills, offering them to Temari when he had taken one for himself. It had been hours since they had eaten their hurried breakfast, and it would be several more before they were freed from their duties. Although they could both go that long without eating on a normal day, it was a good idea to keep their energy up, just in case they had to interfere in any of the remaining three battles.
Temari pulled the stat cards for the last four genin, fanning them out in her hand. They all seemed to be on an equal level, which made their task easier. Konohamaru would fight the Cloud genin, then the Sand and Rock genin would battle. Moegi had lost her match in the last round, even though she fought until she couldn’t stand.
“We should be able to finish before nightfall,” she mused before tucking the cards away. The relief in her voice was clear.
Even though Konohamaru was eliminated in his semi-final match, his spirits were still high. Shikamaru let it slip that his report to Lady Tsunade on the matter would be in favor of his promotion. After all, the ultimate decision was left to the kage.
He left through the doors to the arena, riding on Naruto’s shoulders. Naruto was fiercely proud, as was Ebisu. Shikamaru didn’t think he’d ever seen the man show so much happiness. There was no reason for the squad to stay, and Ebisu decided that they would use the last hours of daylight to make as much progress across the desert as they could before stopping for the night. Naruto was going to tag along, selfishly hoping to get home so that he could give Tsunade a good word on behalf of the entire squad before the reports were handed in.
The genin from the Rock snaked a victory out of an extremely close match with the Cloud genin. He received applause from every village for his skill, which was impressive, especially for his age. Had they not been in a time of peace, that would be a child to reckon with on the battlefield.
Gaara’s closing speech was as eloquent as ever; out of the three siblings, he was by far the most well-spoken. As the arena emptied, the sun still hung in the sky, providing an hour or two of daylight before it would set. The majority of the Sand’s guests would most likely stay the night. Although, for everyone else, the exam had reached its end, Shikamaru and Temari couldn’t turn their backs on it just yet.
Generously, Gaara and Kankuro volunteered their time to help compile the reports on each genin. Although Gaara had already choses which genin from his village would be promoted, even those from the Sand needed to be written out in detail for formality’s sake. These reports would be placed in each genin’s file, and although it was a strictly bureaucratic process, it had to be done correctly.
It was only because they’d doubled their work force that the four ninja finished just after midnight. Without her brothers’ help, Temari knew she would have been working until dawn. She owed them. In the end, it was clear that they all were happy to see the end of the exam. It had placed stress on them all, no one more than Gaara.
Kankuro, as tired as he was, slammed his pen down on the kitchen table as he signed off on his last report. “We did it,” he declared, thrilled with their performance. “Just let Old Man Tsuchikage try to tell us now that we don’t have any authority.”
“If this doesn’t earn their respect, I don’t know what will,” Temari chimed in, looking at her youngest brother. The five kage had never looked at him with anything but skepticism due to his youth. He was just shy of his seventeenth birthday, whereas the Tsuchikage was just shy of his eightieth. Even the Mizukage, who was the youngest save for Gaara, was almost twice his age.
“One can hope.” Gaara didn’t seem very confident about the result. “Let’s finish up here so we can send these results out tomorrow. The other kage won’t want to be kept waiting.”

So About Hinata’s Story...
I’ve gotten into Naruto again and I have a lot to say.
I told myself not to do it, but @crowlesbian told me I might as well, so I wrote this in an attempt to get across how I’d personally rewrite Hinata and Neji’s story to maximize their character development.
I’ve seen some people write their own but this is simply my take.
You see, Hinata isn’t a character we see a whole lot in the manga so there isn’t really much to go off of because Naruto has what I affectionately refer to as ‘Sailor Moon Syndrome.'
Because like Sailor Moon, only a few members of the cast have character development. Understandably Naruto is the title character so of course, those closest to him (that being Team 7) are the main focus and it’s fine.
[[This is, however, why I believe both the  Sailor Moon and Naruto anime are more beloved: The humanization of the other characters.
(The best example is Rock Lee, whose only real story arc happened in Part 1. Nevertheless, he remains a popular and beloved character and people enjoy the episode’s with him in it.)
The anime did a great job with the stories unfolding around Naruto by developing the other members of the Konoha 11, the other Jonin, etc… regardless of whether or not it’s ‘canon’ to the source material or not, I personally choose to consider the anime as canon to itself — it’s simply a different way to tell the same story and while some of the episodes are a bit, uh, much and many times out of place, I appreciate it.
But I digress.]]
The point is we don’t see Hinata much so there really isn’t much to go off. Nevertheless, I believe her story could have been better had more emphasis been put on her role as a member of the Hyuga Clan and her relationship with Neji.
The problem is that Neji and Hinata’s stories are intrinsically intertwined but the more interesting parts of their relationship aren’t very well presented if you ask me.
On the outside, yes, Neji and Hinata’s story begins as your average Genius vs. Loser face off, but there’s much more than that going on.
Their story is about Social Class and Privilege.
Neji’s anger at the Main House of the family wasn’t unjustified, he was right and things aren’t actually solved just because he learned his Father choose to die in place of Hiashi…
[Keep Reading]
The Branch Family lives to serve the Main Branch and while it’s hinted things began to change, er… there isn’t really any definitive information about that.
I don’t want to spend too much time on things we already know, but Neji was angry because he believed his father was murdered in the place of his uncle.
And it frustrated him to know that no matter how talented he was or how high he ranked, his literal purpose was to serve the Main Branch of his family.
He’s so talented he was able to learn so much by himself but how many other Neji’s are in the Side Branch? How many bright and talented kids never even get the chance to learn the more advanced family techniques because they’re forbidden to be taught to them?
How many have been punished via Cursed Seal for having the audacity to be unhappy?
Meanwhile, Hinata’s suffering isn’t necessarily caused by the Main House / Side Branch Family structure, but it is a symptom of it:
Her problems stem from the fact her Father has deemed her too unworthy to be considered the heir for the Main Branch of the family and disowned(?) her due to her more gentle and timid personality (if she were a member of the side branch I’m sure this wouldn’t be a problem.)
But what does all this mean?
Well, it means that Neji and Hinata’s story should have been about them trying to fix the system that lead to their troubles in the first place.
And here’s how I think it should go:
In their fight, Hinata mentions that she shows Neji is suffering but I don’t think she knows the full extent of it. I’d like it if she learned that during his fight with Naruto.
Neji’s putting all his family’s business out there anyway, so it might as well be used to set something else up.
After Hiashi apologizes to Neji, tells him the truth and begins training him, Hinata should speak with Neji.
They have their first real heart-to-heart where he apologizes for trying to kill her and she apologizes for not realizing just how badly he’s been suffering and promises that she’ll do whatever she’s able to help him and everyone else who’s suffering thereby giving her a new goal.
Never breaking a promise is her nindo, after all, and it’s definitely a worthy goal.
Neji would simply thank her for her apology.
From there on out, Hinata trains hard to obtain her new goal–becoming strong enough to reclaim her status as Clan Heir.
She trains harder with Kiba and Shino and as her resolve strengthens they begin to perform better on missions.
Hiashi and Hanabi begin to notice her newfound resolve and so does Neji.
He begins to think that maybe she’s serious about what she promised (prompting a flashback of Naruto claiming he’ll never go back on his word and will become Hokage,) and he goes to watch Hinata train.
She still has trouble pushing herself while training alone and Neji extends the offer to assist her.
Hinata agrees and that’s when they begin training.
Kurenai, Kiba, and Shino notice how much better her relationship with her family has gotten and how cheerful she’s become now.
Neji’s a strict teacher but a really good one and she begin improving quickly.
Their newfound relationship shouldn’t just benefit Hinata, however, it should also benefit Neji.
So as they grow closer as friends, Neji begins to feel more comfortable telling Hinata about his dreams and ambitions, the ridiculous antics of his team and things like that.
Gai, Lee, and Tenten begin to notice a change in Neji too. He seems less on edge than usual and begins improving his performance as well.
He’s been able to perfect and refine his understanding of what Hiashi teaches him by applying it to his lessons with Hinata. (because once you truly understanding something you’re able to teach it.)
This is where things really take a turn because I think that Hinata should begin to admire Neji as her inspiration.
She doesn’t have to stop liking Naruto or stop admiring him–he’ll always be the person who inspired her first— but it would be nice to see her take inspiration from other people too.
Because Neji didn’t have anyone there to teach him, he didn’t have anyone to really encourage him to get up and keep trying, he learned all of this on his own, he became strong on his own and he did it while knowing he was ‘only’ a member of the side branch of the family.
Neji is amazing and she hopes to one day be as strong as him.
Eventually, they take the Chunin Exams again and Hinata becomes a Chunin. Neji, of course, becomes a Jonin and they begin working on the Gentle Step Twin Lion Fists in hopes she can further impress her Father and Hanabi.
Hiashi asks Neji what spurred Hinata to start working so hard and why he agreed to help her and Neji simply tells him they have a goal they must work together to obtain–because he fully believes in his and her power to do this.
They’ve also become best friends.
Gai believes that Neji really has the makings of a teacher and is proud of him for coming so far. He has so much youthful determination!
This, of course, spurs on Lee and Tenten to train even harder!
In fact, it’s clear to everyone how far both he and Hinata have come thanks to their training together.
Not wanting to fall behind, Shino and Kiba up their training and Team 8 have risen to become one of the best tracking teams in the village!
Over this time Hinata begins to have a more sunny disposition. She still has anxiety because those things don’t really go away so easily but it’s a bit more manageable now so by the time she meets Naruto again maybe she won’t faint.
Nevertheless, she’s happy to see him.
Naruto’s story pans out as usual.
Hinata, as always, tries to buy time for Naruto by jumping in front of Pain, confesses her feelings but also feels sorry she couldn’t keep her word to Neji—Pain almost kills her, Naruto beats him up, and everyone turns out ok.
When Hiashi learns Hinata jumped in front of Pain he muses about how much she’s grown and speaks with her about how admirable her actions were. He tells her she’s happy she’s alright and that making difficult choices is something a leader must always do. Hiashi also lets her know that believes she’s shaping up to be a really good one under Neji’s influence.
At this point, Hanabi realizes that Hinata might actually reclaim her status as heir to the clan and they decide to spur each other on —neither wanting to lose but also wanting to fight while the other is at their best.
[If I wanted to get into any shipping stuff I guess this is where Naruto would ask Hinata if she was alright and if maybe she’d want to get some ramen when Ichiraku is rebuilt. He also makes a point to say goodbye to her when he goes to talk to the Raikage, to the Falls of Truth and whenever else he leaves the village, alluding to them become closer as friends.)
Anyway—
Hinata greatly improves her confidence and taijutsu abilities in time for the 4th Great Ninja War.
She and Neji fight side by side and protect a lot of people.
They both survive. Naruto pulls some protagonist shit and protects them from the splinters.
[Again I guess this would be where Naruto tells Hinata how happy he is that he got to save her from danger this time and it’s cute or whatever. They hold hands when Naruto takes time to ask if she’s okay and she’s happy she gets to stand beside him and all that jazz.)]
Regardless, both Neji and Hinata are trapped by The Infinite Tsukuyomi where they both have similar dreams about uniting the Hyuga Clan. (In Hinata’s case I guess Naruto could be there to congratulate her on fulfilling her dream.)
Sometime after the war, Neji begins to think about becoming a Jonin leader since he seems to have a knack for teaching and asks Gai what he thinks about the idea first.
Gai is very proud of him and thinks he’ll do great! Now he’ll have his own students to pass his youth unto! And Neji is very pleased.
After the war everything is peaceful and happy.
(Naruto and Hinata begin spending more time together as friends and then Naruto decides he really likes Hinata and tries to ask her on an official date but she’s been busy preparing for a very important duel with her sister.
When he finally gets the chance, the events of ‘The Last Movie’ take place and Toneri kidnaps Hanabi. Neji was off on a mission or something so he isn’t part of the Hanabi rescue team. Either that or he joins them and makes it a six man squad??? idk.
At some point, someone (Sai?) might ask Hinata why she’s fighting so hard to get Hanabi back when she’s competition for her. Hanabi stands in the way of her dreams. But Hinata tells him that, while that’s true, her sister matters more to her than the title. She and Neji can fulfill their dreams without hurting anyone or leaving them behind.)
When both Hanabi and Hinata are adults and Hiashi is ready to retire, they fight to see who will become heir to the Hyuga Clan.
Within this time Neji and Hinata managed to rally Hanabi to their cause as well as some others who see the need to change.
While I’d like Hinata to win as a show for all her hard work, I think I’d have to give the heir position to Hanabi anyway.
Regardless the three of them all work together to reform the clan.
Hanabi as the head, Neji as her advisor and Hinata can help train some of the younger clan members in both The Gentle Fist Taijutsu and Tracking, which she, Kiba and Shino are still greatly recognized for.
Meanwhile, all of Team Gai becomes Legendary Shinobi!
(I guess this is where Hinata marry’s Naruto and starts her own family. Neji helps to oversee Boruto’s training and visits them a lot. When Himawari becomes a ninja she’s assigned to Neji’s Squad.)
Nevertheless Hinata, Neji and Hanabi remain close and everything is beautiful.
I say all of this not because I dislike Hinata, but because I like her. She’s a good character but Kishimoto could have done more with her story and tied it into her family issues better.

Summary: After training Sarada tells Kakashi something that has been weighting her down for a while,Kakashi was surprised , since he thought that people learned their lesson from Naruto’s childhood.
Two weeks, to weeks was what it took for Sarada Uchiha to learn the chidori. Kakashi was amazed, even Sasuke needed a month to perfect his chidori, and that guy was a prodigy and apparently, his daughter is a prodigy too.
‘‘How was that uncle Kakashi?’‘ Said the panting girl on the ground.
‘Huh,so she finally ran out of chakra, that totales three chidori’s a day.’
‘‘That was good, your average appears to be 3 chidori’s a day,one more and there ‘s a possibility of death or a serious injury understand?’‘
‘‘Yeah yeah uncle.’‘ she said as she tried to get up,Kakashi extended a hand towards her to which she gladly took.
‘‘Thanks.’‘
‘‘Hm, how about I treat you to tea?’‘
‘‘Yeah sure.’‘
He normally didn’t invite people to tea,but he was immensely proud of the girl in front of him,she wasn’t just talented, she was also a hard worker, and he didn’t miss her strategies  in her attempts to catch him of guard.
‘Sasuke,Sakura you’re daughter has a very bright future ahead of her.’ and he had no doubt that she’d do great things, good things, and he along with her parents and Naruto will  guide her towards the light when she gets lost in darkness.
‘‘So you’re mother tells me you want to be hokage.’‘
Sarada stare moves from her dango plate to him,she seemed surprised that he knew.
‘‘Of course she did.’‘
‘‘Don’t you want me to know?’‘
‘‘I don’t mind I was just wondering how she knew.’‘ the girl grumbled obviously annoyed that nothing can stay hidden from her mother
‘‘I asked her the same question, she said she has sources.’‘
‘‘At this point I’m wondering if she has slugs following me around.’‘ she said a pout quickly forming on her lips.
Kakashi chuckled,he found that the combination of Sasuke’s snark and Sakura’s cuteness was a sure fire way to amuse him.
‘‘Don’t stray from the point and besides it’s only natural that you’d want to follow in my steps .’‘
The pout on the girls lips disappeared and it was replaced a grin.
‘‘Yeah right, cause you’re just so amazing.’‘ she said , a tone of sarcasm clear in her voice.
‘‘You hurt me.’‘ he said as a pout made itself clear through his mask.
‘‘Fine you’re the best uncle in the history of uncles, happy?’‘
‘‘Yes.’‘
After a moment of silence Sarada expression changed into a serious one as she asked him the question that was plaguing her mind since her teams second shot at the chunin exams
‘‘Do you think I’d make it ?’‘ she said , clear doubt in her voice,as if not sure she should ask him that question.
‘‘I don’t see why not,you’re smart,talented ,have a good heart and you’re a hard worker,with good guidance I’d say you’d make it.’‘
He expected the girl to cheer up at his words, but her expression only got more sombre.
He didn’t say anything,he knew if Sarada wanted to say something she’d say it and no amount of nagging from him would make her talk if she didn’t want too.
‘‘Just could you promise not to tell mama?’‘
‘‘Why not?’‘ now he was getting worried, since the girl was very close to her mother,he doubted the girl kept secrets from her parents.
‘‘Cause she would worry and get mad.’‘
‘‘Mad at you?’‘ Sakura rarely got mad at Sarada, since she always tries to understand her daughter.
‘‘No.’‘
The girl was getting uncomfortable something which was made clear by her fidgeting.
‘‘How about this,if I see it absolutely necessary to tell Sakura I will tell her.’‘
After all,he really didn’t want to cause the girl harm if it was something bigger than him.
Sarada looked at him wearily before a smirk appeared on her face.
‘‘Even if I don’t tell you, you’re going to tell mama right?’‘
‘‘You know me so well.’‘ he said as a smile formed on his face.
Another moment of silence came as they finished their tea.
‘‘How about we go back to the training field.’‘
‘‘Yeah’‘
Another thing the girl shared with her father was her love for greenery, but he suspected that Sasuke’s love for the color green has little to do with actual greenery and a lot more to do with a certain green eyed women.
They both sat next to the same tree.
Kakashi waited patiently as his mind went to the worst things that could happen,
did she have her first kill? or was she having boy trouble,he’d think she‘d resort to Ino if she wanted to talk to a grown up at that sort of thing, which he doubts.
‘‘Do you remember the last chunin exams tournament?’‘
‘’How could I forget, your last fight with Mitsuki was the most exciting fight I’ve seen since years ago.’‘
It was truly an amazing fight, but Sarada won it with the use of the smoke of her fire jutsu and the lightning flash,it was thanks to that fight that Kakashi decided to teach her the chidori.
‘‘At the chunin exam stadium ,after I won,I was walking through the hallway inside where I found two Konoha nin talking,I didn’t mind them until I heard my name, they were saying that the village should beware of me and that I should be locked up before I lose it.’‘
Kakashi remembered that seemed off when he congratulated her after the tournament,he thought she was just tired after her fight with Mitsuki, but he never though that something like this could have happened.
The girl stopped to take a deep breath and gauge the reaction of Kakashi.
Honestly he was stunned that some people still harbored hatred towards sasuke despite all the things he did to the village, most villagers called him a hero now.
He took another glance at the girl who was clearly at the verge of tears,of course she would, the exams were over since a month,so this issue has been plaguing her since a month ago.
‘’And it wasn’t just that, the whispers increased too since I won that stupid tournament.’’
‘’Whispers?’’
‘’People would whisper cruel things, sometimes they’d say bad things about mama but after I won I started hearing them wherever I go especially from the older generation.’’
‘’Things like what?’‘
Sarada stood up as she continued:
‘’Hear things li-like ’ She’s their daughter she’s bound to achieve great things but I doubt their going to be good things’ or ‘  She’s close to the sixth and seventh,I just hope they don’t hesitate to do something when she finally snaps and that the apple doesn’t fall too far from the tree or-or...’‘
Her words cut off with a sob as her shoulders heaved with emotion.
Kakashi was too stunned to move after hearing all that,he wanted to do something, but he couldn’t since their was nothing to be done,if the haters didn’t change their mind after the incident with Momoshiki then they’d never change their minds.
‘‘And it fucking hurts, cause I don’t know what the hell I did! What my parents did! and I’m never going to achieve my dream because of things I don’t even know...’‘
Her gaze moved from kakashi to the ground,as her sobs drove her to her knees.
‘‘And I hate it cause I didn’t do anything to deserve it.’‘She said as she finally collapsed and buried her head in her arms.
Kakashi stared at the shaking girl on the ground,he was sad,but the feeling of anger overcame his sadness, she was just a kid for crying out loud,a kid with innocent dreams, and they were wreaking them.
‘‘When did it start?’‘
It wasn’t the time to ask but he had to know, since it seems it started long before her team’s second attempt at the chunnin exam.
‘‘eight.’‘ she said between sobs.
‘‘Eight?’‘
‘‘Some kids at the academy refused to even sit next to me,they said that there parents said that they shouldn’t and some of the parents used to glare at me whenever mama wasn’t with me.’‘
Eight, around the time when he met her again after a 3 year absence, she was only a vulnerable girl at that point, and she’d been harboring  this weight on her small shoulders until now.
‘No wonder she relates to Naruto.’ he thought remembering the  similar way Naruto was treated as a kid, albeit in a more cruel way,but pain was pain.
He’s gonna kill the those bastards,no wonder Sarada didn’t want Sakura to know, she’d kill the people responsible.
‘It’s a good thing she didn’t tell Sasuke, this would wreck him,his former student didn’t give much though to peoples opinions, but this was a sore spot.
‘‘Sarada.’‘ he said with his attempted gentle voice.
The girl didn’t acknowledge him at first.
‘‘Sarada look at me.’‘ he said, but this time with  firmness in his voice.
He grabbed her shoulders and helped her raise her head up,something she was reluctant to do,damn Uchiha pride.
He normally wasn’t a huger, but this was too much he thought as he pulled her towards his chest.
‘‘You are a good person Sarada.’‘ he said hoping that it would comfort her but it seemed to only worsen her pain as her hands grabbed his flack jacket tightly.
He waited her a few minutes, letting her get rid of all her pent up emotions before he spoke again.
‘‘You didn’t do anything wrong.’‘
‘‘Then why do they talk like that?’‘
Kakashi took a deep breath as he pulled Sarada’s head of his chest so she could look at him, when her red eyes met his he continued.
‘‘Cause you’re family did bad things.’‘
‘‘Bad things?’‘
‘‘That’s a discussion you should have with your parents, but back to the point, you should always remember that you are good person, you’re parents are good people and heroes and that the past doesn’t matter as much as the future and that you have as much as a chance at the hokage hat as any person got it?’‘
‘‘Yes uncle Kakashi.’‘
‘‘And secondly, you shouldn’t harbor your emotions like that, cause trust me it would do more harm than good.’‘
‘‘Hn’‘
Kakashi helped her up as she dried her tears.
‘‘Are you going to tell mama?’‘
‘‘Hm I won’t tell her under one condition.’‘
‘‘What now?!’‘
Kakashi’s requests were really annoying Sarada thought as she remembered the time he made her organize his book collection in exchange of not telling her mother that she broke a vase while throwing shuriken in the house
‘‘You promise to come to me when something like this happens again got it?’‘
He was still mad,and he wasn’t going to let it pass.
‘’Sure uncle.’‘
‘‘Now how about we do a little taijutsu spar huh?’‘
A smile appeared on Sarada’s face, which lightened Kakashi’s mood slightly.
‘‘I’m gonna beat you Shanaroo!’‘
A couple of minutes later Sarada was lying under the ground with only her head over the dirt.
‘‘Uncle you cheated!’‘
‘‘Always expect the unexpected Sarada.’‘
‘‘Ugh,I hate you’‘
‘‘ I’m flattered.’‘

Boruto EP60 preview thoughts
I won’t be doing this for every preview.. this one just made me think a lot since it’ll be all new to us.
Okay, so I am really happy that they’re continuing the exams and putting off the Momoshiki attack for just a bit longer. Am I happy that Boruto still cheats and moves onto the finals? No, of course not, but enough about him. Let’s chat about my other favorites from new Team 7.
Araya vs Sarada: Y’all know I’m beyond excited to see my girl fight more, but then the preview mentions how sneak attacks and genjutsu won’t work on Araya. I’d like to think that genjutsu won’t work just because of his mask? With Sharingan genjutsu, you need to make eye contact with the enemy for it to work, so there’s that problem. I’m sure one punch from Sarada could take care of the mask though, if she gets the chance to get close enough. I also saw a few people talking about the chance that maybe Araya could be blind, which would be pretty interesting, or that he may just focus his eyes elsewhere, like how Might Guy instructed the other jonin to do so during their encounter with Itachi in Naruto ep82. I can see Sarada trying some shurikenjutsu but having Araya just deflect everything with his sword like he did with Inojin’s birds. We don’t know too much Araya to begin with so I haven’t a clue on what kind of jutsu he even has, so I don’t know if Sarada will try to copy anything or not either. I’d love to see her use some of that lightning style jutsu she copied from Buntan during the School Trip arc. I would absolutely die of happiness if Sarada pulls out the Fireball jutsu though! I mean, come on! Your dad is home now! Let him teach it to you! Girl uses said jutsu a couple times in the manga a few arcs after this, so he would’ve had to teach you it at some point right? Especially if he said he was leaving after the exams.. but enough of my hopes there. Anyway, as for who wins this match, it’s a toss up. Of course I would be super proud and happy if Sarada won but I can also see Araya winning, just because we have no idea what he’s capable of. I think if the match draws out long enough, it could be troublesome for Sarada, especially if she has her Sharingan active for most of it. She became dizzy once while practicing it against Chocho at the very end of Gaiden arc and did eventually collapse after her fight with Buntan. I would like to think she trained enough by now that using so much chakra with the Sharingan won’t be a problem, but who knows.
Mitsuki vs Shinki: Man, I thought they were going to be pretty evenly matched but the preview has Mitsuki looking a bit hurt. The iron sand is just so good, I don’t know what Mitsuki could do against it. Yeah he has wind and lightning style to use, along with his snakes and wiggly arms, but is that enough? Honestly, if Mitsuki was able to use his sage mode, then I would easily say he would win, but without it and against Shinki, I can’t be too sure. I’m really looking forward to see how this fight plays out because I really have no other ideas on what could happen.
So who will be the final three? I think it’s highly unlikely for the final fight to just be of new Team 7. It would be fair to see either Sarada or Mitsuki lose their match and have it be 2 Leaf Ninja vs 1 Sand. Hell, it would still be fair even if both of them lost. Remember, in the movie & manga, the two of them are in the stands watching with the crowd when the Momoshiki attack starts. Granted, that was just after the Boruto vs Shikadai fight, but things changed. It would make sense for them to both be there in the anime right? Especially if they still plan to have Sasuke save Sarada and join up with Naruto and Boruto and everything else happens as it should. Even after this whole arc ends, the new Team 7 are still ranked as genin, or at least that’s what I gather from the manga, since they still go on missions with Konohamaru. Sure, just getting far enough into the Chunin exams and doing well can grant them a promotion, ex: Shikamaru, but I don’t think that’ll happen so soon.
A ton of thoughts aside, I’m going to love next week’s episode regardless of who wins and who loses. Sarada and Mitsuki are my two favorites in this series so far and I can’t wait to see what they come up with against these Sand shinobi.. as long as they don’t get too beat up, then I’ll cry.
Also, we saw a lot of the Akimichi & Nara families cheering for their kids today.. so I don’t doubt we’ll see Sakura cheering for her girl next time.. but if I ask to see Sasuke and/or Orochimaru watching the fights, then that’ll be too much right? Hey, one can only hope!

Name a character from one of my fandoms, and I will reply saying:
1. How I FEEEEEL about this character
//I love Hinata <3 She deserved so much more though. Masashi centered the majority of her story around her feelings for Naruto. While in the meantime, she was meant to be the head of the clan. I think her potential should’ve been focused on her trying to be stronger on the battlefield and capable of becoming a leader. Although in the end, she chooses to be a housewife (and ninja) rather than head of the Hyuga. Her timid and shy nature, I can relate to it when I was younger XD I’m proud of how much she’s grown throughout the series. Just wish she had more to do with the main story line, especially since Masashi knew in advance that he was going for NaruHina. I wanted to see more progression with her, but only because she’s essential to the plot, not to the main character’s growth.
2. All the people I ship romantically with this character
//Naruto <3333 Been shipping NaruHina forever ^-^
3. My non-romantic OTP for this character
//Hinata and Neji. The way they started out and developed through the series is amazing. But again, I wish we got to see more. I understand that they’re not the main characters, but I would’ve liked for Masashi to put them in a bit more, let us see how their relationship changed.
4. My unpopular opinion about this character
//Probably the way Masashi made Hinata go about her feelings for Naruto, always stalking around, and watching him. Like pls be more subtle XD And less hiding behind things to watch him train. It was adorable when she was partly hiding when she was talking to him before the Chunin Exams though :)
5. One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon
//I really wish she didn’t lose Neji ;A; He wouldn’t been supportive when Naruto wasn’t around. I would’ve loved to see Hinata have more of a role in the war too. Oh and omg Naruto never talked to her after their fight against Pain when she confessed her feelings and nearly died to protect him!!! That is something I was upset about bc she was put on the back burner again. Bc instead Sakura gets to hug him after the crowd cheered. AND almost forgot. Hinata was standing right next to him when Naruto said Sakura was his girlfriend to his father. No. You don’t do that. I found that rude tbh. Okay. Clearly I have a lot so I’ll end here XD

“Love is when the other person's happiness is more important than your own.” H. Jackson Brown, Jr. It was a beautiful day in konoha, the cherry blossom trees peeked through the window of the Mitsashi residence. [IMG=QKS] The alarm blared extremely loud, you would’ve thought there was a parade outside, Tenten jumped up ecstatically and yawned, even though she was excited she was enervated from the night before, the mission exhausted her.  It was March 8th, one day before her birthday, Tenten saw a dark figure on the side of her eye, leaving her frightened and she was startled a little bit, she glanced over to the window where the dark figure was. “S-Shikamaru?!?!” she yelled out in shock, as she went behind her closet door, peeking her head out [IMG=G12] “why are you here, I’m not even fully dressed” she sneered as her voice shaking. Shikamaru looked over at the frightened Tenten “what a drag, you’re almost as troublesome as Temari, I’m only here to tell you that Gai wants to see you at the training grounds” Shikamaru retorted. “Ah...why does he want to see me, I’m supposed to be getting ready for my birthday tomorrow” Tenten voiced dragged, it was evident that she didn’t want to go.[IMG=E4X]  “how the hell should I know, all of this is a drag, just get dressed so I can go home and take a nap” Shikamaru snapped then sighed “I apologize, I haven’t been in the mood lately, I’ve been down in the dumps” Shikamaru said in a dejected way. “Oh, is it because Temari is not in the village” Tenten said as she smirked. Shikamaru became flustered and was at a lost for word and his face turned a light pink. “what a drag…get dressed, I’ll be down stairs to escort you” Shikamaru said, then vanishes to thin air. [IMG=B36] Tenten showered then started brushing her teeth, she looked up at the mirror and saw the picture of Team Gai in the mirror and she immediately started thinking of neji  “N-Neji… I miss you so much… if only I got to see you one more time… I would cherish it forever” Tenten said she was tears rapidly flowed down her face, she wiped them away, got dressed and walked outside and met up with Shikamaru. Shikamaru glared at her face, seeing the remains of the tears “Were you crying…it’s about him wasn’t it… dammit, we all miss him, always know this, he is always in our hearts” Shikamaru reassured, then he hugged, tears began to flood Tenten’s face as she hugged Shikamaru “Thank..you….so much” Tenten said as she sniffled. “I’ve never seen this, you’re usually positive, so cheer up, he’s always with you” as Shikamaru said that, Tenten felt a hand touch her shoulder, but no one was physically there, she knew it was Neji’s presence, it was similar, to what Naruto experienced. Tenten and Shikamaru walked to the training grounds and walked over to Gai “Well here’s where I take my leave…see ya” Shikamaru walks away, “say hi to Temari for me” Tenten shouted, she then looked at Gai “so what did you call me here for” Tenten asked softly. “ I”ve called you here for a very important…task, I need you to go on a date with Rock lee, think about it as a test of your hot bloodedness “ Gai said enthusiastically, “what?!?!?!?!...no, I can’t , Rock Lee well let’s just say he isn’t the most attractive guy around, he’s sweet but he’s too  dull to even compliment a female on how she looks, he mostly cares about training and I think he is all for Sakura “ Tenten murmured.  “Please…I’m so proud of Lee and how strong he’s gotten, but I don’t think he's too popular with the ladies and you might be his only chance…this would bring you one step closer to becoming a legendary kunoichi Tenten” Gai said, “It does not matter where I am or what I am doing, I can always become better.. just watch Guy sensei!!” Lee exclaimed as he clinched his fist.  “Lee…you make me so proud!!” Gai sobbed and embraced Lee [IMG=IAI] “ now you guys go and have the time of your lives as the pure flames of youth still flow through your veins” Gai screamed out as tears of joy toured down his sad yet joyful  countenance of a face. Tenten sighed as she was despondent of this whole situation, for a moment she felt like Shkamaru, believing that this date would be a drag, she wanted to drift away for a moment, so she closed her eyes, silence ensued soon after, she thought of the marvelous time spent with Rock Lee, Gai and especially Neji, even though she never expressed it, she had strong feelings for Neji, but her aspiration to become a legendary Kunoichi may have halted those feelings for a while, She then opened her eyes as reality greeted her once again , a glimmer in the sky peered from her view, it was like a shooting star almost, Tenten closed her eyes again and made a wish, she then walked up to Lee slowly and briskly and hugged him, Lee was shocked as for he did not know what the sudden affection was for. “Alright Lee, let’s go, we’ll see if you know how to treat a lady” Tenten said jokingly as she slipped in a wink. “yes” Lee shouted. “I have already planned out the day, we will go to a restaurant and have dinner, then off to the hot springs, and finally, we will train and I will make sure that you have fun”  Lee was flowing with energy, flames erupted from his eyes “There is no time to waste, let’s go Tenten” the ecstatic Lee moved at lightning speed, grabbing Tenten’s hand and running towards the restaurant. “ah..Lee, this is not how you treat a lady…and can you please loosen your grip” Tenten blurted out, “There is no time to waste Tenten” Lee exclaimed. Lee seemed to move at the speed of light, as he continued to grip on to the wrist of Tenten, even though Lee got on the nerves of Tenten sometimes, she enjoyed his presence, she appreciated his kind nature and how he genuinely cared for people, especially for her, at this moment the tragic thoughts of Neji seemed to fade away through the crevice of her mind, Tenten felt happy and her bright smile showed it. [IMG=8ZM]  Lee and Tenten arrived at BBQ shop, Tenten quickly sighed upon their arrival, she was discontent with the choice of Lee, she had believed that they were going to a more formal and significant place, but it was expected by her, Lee and Tenten sat down, and ordered their food and waited. “Lee, I thought that you would have chosen a better place than this, we always go here” Tenten said as she chuckled a little, “Well this was the only place I could think of on such short notice, but the beef that we will give us a lot of protein that we need to get stronger” Lee optimistically said. “Lee, it seems like that’s all you ever talk about, getting stronger…anyway, I’m looking forward to the Chunin exams, I’ve heard that the genin are going to be really strong, but some are a little cocky, at least they don’t have to go through the things we went through,..hmm, we’ve been through a lot, from the attack on Konoha to the great ninja war…I still wish Neji was here with us, but at least I know that he is always watching and just that fact alone makes me smile” Tenten smiled profoundly. “Tenten…I can tell that your smile is broken, you are lying to yourself, saying that you are but you are not, I do not want to see you this way, remember I am always here for you, and the best way to relieve stress is to exercise , that is why we will go train after the hot springs, it will not only relieve stress but have your blood hot and burning” Rock Lee jumped up from his seated position and he placed his foot on the table and clinched both of his fist as his fiery passion for training and getting stronger coursed through his veins “We will show the fruits of our labor and become the best shinobi in the village, but we will not stop there, we will get even stronger than the best shinobi in the village and become the best shinobi in the world” It seemed that Lee was burning with passion, he opened the first gate: gate of opening, this agitated Tenten a little, she though that Lee was about to go on a rampage with is fiery passion and all “Um, Lee don’t you think you are overdoing it” Tenten shivered a little as she uttered those words. Lee looked around and noticed the piercing eyes that were glaring at him and he had a faint blush on his face due to the embarrassment of the situation “I am sorry, sometimes I cannot hold back my love for improving” Lee sat down and took deep breaths to calm his-self down.  “You don’t have to apologize, even though you can get out of hand sometimes, your determination is one of the things I admire about you the most” Tenten had a bright smile that could rival the sun, she then looked down as a sudden sadness hit her once again, for some reason she couldn’t shake off the thoughts of Neji, it just kept coming back, she whispered to herself “I want see you…just one more time” a tear trickled down the face of Tenten, Rock Lee noticed the tear and wiped her face, then a comforting smile crossed his face as he gave a thumbs up, [IMG=BU7] Tenten’s eyes brightened up, it was like time had stopped for a moment as Tenten gazed into the soothing eyes of Lee. “Thank you, Lee, for always being here for me, I truly appreciate it…and after we finish eating I think that I should go home, I’m quite tired” Tenten said while yawning 2 hours had passed after Lee and Tenten ate and talked [IMG=C3F] they were at the training grounds once again. “Ready Lee? I believe I can beat you this time, please refrain from falling into water this time” Tenten said Jokingly as she took out two scrolls and got into her fighting stance. Lee blushed slightly of embarrassment “That was only a mistake, I promise it will not happen again, and Yes, go all out, give me the best competition possible, holding back would only be an insult to your full potential, show me what you got, show me the burning pride of youth” Rock Lee was fired up as he got into his fighting stance. “I guess I’ll make the first move, since I am better anyway” Tenten said facetiously “Million blade chaos” Tenten launched into the air  and opened her scrolls, and different blades of all kinds were summoned and pursued Lee, almost catching him off guard, it swarmed in after him like a horde of bees “excellent move Tenten” Lee yelled out as he ran, Lee jumped up in the air, landing on the blades, hoping on most until he reached the height of Tenten and he moved in after her swiftly, he punched her in the abdominal area sending Tenten crashing to the rough terrain , she got back up, on the defense, she checked her surroundings, and she was very knowledgeable of the area and the speed of Lee. Tenten pulled out a scroll and summoned a staff, Lee landed on the ground, making the area he landed on crumble, he ran towards Tenten and attempted to land a few strikes but Tenten evaded the strikes and attacked lee with the staff, but she knew that she couldn’t get into a taijutsu battle with Lee, Lee was far superior in that category, Tenten and Lee both started in an intense taijutsu battle, each going blow for blow, Lee blocked one of Tenten’s attacks and kicked her back, then she vanished “ah..shadow clone?!? But when?” The shocked Lee looked around, trying to find Tenten, but when he turned around it was too late, 2 water dragons along with a huge spiked metal ball was after him, Lee hopped on top of the metal ball but was knocked down by the water dragons, Lee was gasping for air and Tenten appeared  from the distance, gazing down from a tree, “haha, didn’t expect that, did ya?” Tenten expressed with a smile on her face. “I guess that I have underestimated you, you have become much stronger, now it is time to show you how strong I have become” Lee stood up and squatted a little. “The third gate: gate of life, open!!” a massive green aura surrounded Lee, the ground was shaking at a rapid pace, almost knocking Tenten off of the tree, Lee’s face was a flaming red color, as the veins were pulsing out of his skin,[IMG=UJ7] Lee moved towards Tenten, it was like a wind storm had passed by rocks and debris was flying in the air after he had passed, Lee punched Tenten, and circled around her, leaving her desperate for oxygen, he then stopped and punched her up in the air, and his wrist tape wrapped around Tenten and he grabbed her “Primary lotus!!” Lee and Tenten hit the ground with such an impact, it destroyed the area around them, Lee flipped up quickly and walked over to Tenten, getting out of his awakened form, holding Tenten in his arms “Tenten, are you ok? maybe I took it too far, come on, we can make it to the hospital” Tears came down the face of the worried Lee. “Thank…you…for the win” Tenten whispered softly. Lee started to notice that he could no longer move “Genjutsu?” Lee said to himself as he looked up, Tenten was in the air, two scrolls in her hands “twin rising dragons” the weapons attacked Lee and Tenten got down and helped Lee up “Looks like I win, haha, now that’s the legendary kunoichi for you” Tenten blurted as triumph finally came for her, a beam of excitement emitted from her body language. “I am glad, you showed me your strength, I am satisfied, your fire is burning stronger than ever, I am so proud and I’m sure that Guy sensei will be proud as well now let’s get you home” Lee said, praising Tenten. “Aww Lee that’s sweet, but I have to boast a little” Tenten stated dancing while Teasing Ler and then she had stopped and yawned, Lee told Tenten to get on his back and with out hesitation she did, her exhaustion overpowered her pride they had eventually made it to the door of the Mitsashi residence and Lee placed tenten down "thank you Lee, this was a great day, now I can plan for my birthday party" Tenten said enthusiastically as she stretched "No problem Tenten, see you next time, hopefully we can train again someday"Lee waved and vanished. Tenten looked at the door and took a deep breath, surprisingly this was a good day for her, she walked into her house, closing the door behind her, and she flipped on the lights and she heard a roar "Surprise!! " all of her friends and people from other villages came out from hiding, birthday decorations were all , blood flushed to the cheeks of Tenten as she was a little embarrassed because she was caught of guard and shock yet she became filled with yet excitement, Ino, Hinata, Sakura, And Temari all embraced Tenten, making become overwhelmed with excitement "Aww, thank you guys, I don't really deserve this" Tenten said as tears rolled down her cheeks "You definetly deserve this, you are so kind, and we all love you " Ino said as she smiled profoundly "yeah, the future legendary Kunoichi deserves this, don't worry, the party won't get too wild, but it will be fun" Sakura said Jokingly "Y-you will have fun, we've been planning this for weeks, you w-won't be disappointed " the shy Hinata looked at Tenten and Smiled shyly, Temari glared at Tenten and smirked "Heh, I was just dragged into this, it wasn't something I wanted to do" "Heh, well truth is, she did most of the planning" Shikamaru said as he walked up to the group of women "ah.. That's not true" Temari blushed madly and buried her face into Shikamaru's shoulder "You're such a drag Shikamaru " Temari cried out "Heh, oh I know, well enjoy the party Tenten" Shikamaru said as Temari and him went to go sit down "Aww, who knew that Temari cared so much, heh that was a great thing to fine out, after the Chunin exams I thought she hated me" Tenten said with a smirk across her face "Tenten!! Heh heh, so you and Bushy brow went on a date huh? Did you guys kiss, I know what happens on dates" Naruto greeted Tenten and nudged her shoulder a little "Oh well if it isn't the immature Naruto,.. I really dont know how Hinata puts up with you" Tenten blurted out "well isn't it obvious, I'm irresistible, ya know" Naruto flexed his arms a little "Irresistible?.. Hmph, more like a loser" a deep familiar voice came from the other side of the room, and he walked by Naruto "S-Sasuke!?!? What are you doing here " Tenten was shocked, she would've never thought Sauske would show up for a thing like this [IMG=6EB] "Well I was here to visit Sakura and her and the loser insisted that I came here" Sasuke closed his eyes and sat down "well that's great " Tenten said still shocked of the whole situation, Sai walked over to Tenten, and handed her a painting of her and weapons "I made this for you, it had took me a few days to complete, I hope you enjoy it" Tenten received the painting and smiled "Thank you so much Sai and I love it" "Well you ddidnt think we would be the only people to miss out on this party did ya? " Kiba said as he walked in with Kankuro and Gaara "Heh it did take Kiba a while to get us here " Kankuro said as he laughed "Hey shut up you idiot!!! " Kiba was fired up with rage "Calm down Kiba, no need to get hasty, it is Tenten’s surprise party, have more respect " Gaara said as he looked at kiba and Kankuro bickering back and forth "Haha, well thank you guys for coming, I really appreciate it" Tenten’s smile illuminated the room, she was consumed by happiness and it was visible. A few hours had passed, it was now 11:58pm, everyone was centered "Sasuke would you like to have a slice of cake after we sing Happy birthday " Ino said, knowing that Sasuke hate sweets "I don't like sweets, so no" Sasuke sighed as he looked over to Sakura "Sakura is the only sweet thing I deal with" "Sasuke... " Sakura began to blushed and she held on to the arm of Sasuke as she rested her head on the shoulder Sasuke "Alright Everyone, it's 11:59, let's countdown to Tenten’s birthday " Gaara shouted, raising his arms "5... 4... 3... 2... 1.... Happy, make a wish" Everyone said in perfect sync (except for Sasuke, he stayed silent and Shikamaru, he was asleep for the past 2 hours and no one could wake him up) Tenten made a wish and blew the candles out and then the door opened, there stood a familiar face and everyone looked over in shock... We that's it for now, who was it that everyone saw? Hmm, maybe you'll find out soon, I really hope that you enjoyed and I'll see you guys next time

Nart Watch S1 E23
Genin Takedown! All 9 rookies face off
- Kakashi says he’s glad Sakura decided to join. And that only 3 man squads could actually apply and take the exams. He lied to them about it being up to the individual. He didn’t want Sasuke and Naruto forcing her to take it before she was ready. And if Sasuke asked her to she definitely would. If only Naruto and Sasuke came he would’ve sent them home. He’s very proud of all of them!
- ah man we’re finaly getting to the shit people remember. or well. almost. we’re at the tests right now. and there are sooo many applicants, a lot older than them. Sakura’s nervous again
- Ino shows up to hug Saske (which he glare about) and tease ssakura. Shikamaru and choji are here too. “Shikamaru Nara, always complaining but no motivation. He’s a bellyaching idiot.” “Choji Akimichi, always eating something. He’s a fat idiot.” “Ino Yamanaka. Always fighting with Sakura, her rival. A sasuke-crazed idiot.”
- Kiba Shino and Hinata! “Hinata Hyuga. She’s a weird person who turns her eyes whenever I look at her. She’s gloomy and shy I guess.” “Kiba Inuzuka and Akamaru. They’re louder than I am! He always brings his dog and always has a bossy look. He really annoys me!” “Shino Aburama. As for this guy I don’ really get him? Hes a type I’m not good with.”
- Kiba challenges Sasuke who says he’s mighty confident. He says they have been training and won’t lose. Naruto says he definitely won’t lose to Kiba. Hinata apologizes to him, Naruto is confused by her interference.
- ayyyy hey kabuto. who wants them to keep it down. carrying on with such cute faces. this isn’t a field trip. kabuto yakushi. He’s like hey you notice how everyone is glaring at you? and by god some look scary. some are adults. He pities them. It’s his 7th time taking this test. The exam is held twice a year. He knows a lot about these exams. Oh god is he gonna do it? Yup the ninja info cards. Information burned into them coded with chakra. Spent four years gathering information on the exam. 200 cards. white to the eye, to open they need his chakra.
- Okay so 30 ninja from the sand village, 21 from rain, 15 from grass, 12 from waterfall, 72 from konoha, and 3 from song.
- this is done jointly supposedly to deepen friendship among nations and to boost shinoi levels as a second. the real aim is to check out the skill of other shinobi in neighboring nations. keeping power equal. if it’s not done weak nations will be invaded by strong ones. There’s a point to mutual supervision. Sasuke asks for individual information; specifically gaara and lee.
- Naruto glances back and forth, crosses his arms and nods. “I don’t really get what’s going on but I’ll pretend like I do.” Same
- Rock Lee. Completed 11 C missions and 20 D. He’s a year older than them. His Taijutsu is unbelivable but his other abilities are not very good. It’s his first time taking this. Tenten and Neji are on his team, and Hinata reacts to the name Neji Hyuga. Naruto’s like I know that name from somewhere...
- Not much info on gaara. 1  mission, 8 C, unknown how many D. He has returned from all of his missions uninjured. It doesn’t know who his sensei is either.
- Village of the sound is a small nation that sprung up in recent years, so there’s not much info.
- Kakashi flashbaks to the meeting with the hokage, later on. iruka is still chewing him out. gai says yeah he’s right you should train them another year like I did. Kakashi thinks it’s too easygoing. They’ll surpass you guys in no time
- Sakura notices that Naruto looks tense and nervous about the people and power imblanace here. She’s really really uneasy. Naruto is shaking. She doesn’t like it and tries to cheer him up.”Don’t be so scared!” but he is so happy XD grins and pums his fist “MY NAME IS NARUTO UZUMAKI AND INWON’T LOSE TO ANY OF YOU! GOT IT!?” as she thought, he can’t get depressed. of course. it gets ino and sakura to argue.
- Naruto laughs and says he feels better. Sasuke chuckles.
- oh hey the sand siblings. And neji’s team
- Kiba laughs at him and Sakura grabs his neck and tells him to shut up. He keeps riiling everyone p. Sakura laughs nervously and says it was a joke and he says spazzy things. don’t worry about him.
- meanwhile the song ninja were offended by being called a small nation and jmp to attack. Kabuto avoids throwing knives but not a punch that breaks his glasses.  it didn’t hit him but maybe something else did? Sasuke looks annoyed. Suddenly kabuto goes wide eyed and collapses, throwing up. Naruto and Sakura run over to help him up.
- “WRite this on your card! The 3 from sound village. Doubtless chunin.”
- Naruto Sakura and Saske are all annoyed. Sasuke can’t get why he vomited. Lee says he read the speed but there has to be a trick to it
- ayyy ibiki morino, proctor for the first test of the chunin exam.

Something to Prove, Chapter Twelve: Third Time’s the Charm
Rating: T Warnings: Swearing Words: 2417 Fandom: Naruto Summary: As Suna prepares for its first independently-held chunin exam since Gaara became kazekage, the sand siblings must make sure that everything goes off without a hitch.
First   Previous     Next
The spectators’ cheers roared through the arena, welcoming the genin who were scheduled to compete. Temari was surprised at the turnout; Suna wasn’t very central, so anyone not from the village had almost certainly gone out of their way to be here. She took this as a credit to how well she and Shikamaru had executed the last few exams. She glanced over at him, and she saw him flicking the lid of his lighter open and closed. He was impatient to get started, and his head was tilted back as he checked the position of the sun. To anyone else, he appeared to be cloud gazing, lazy as ever. It humored her that he was so frequently underestimated.
As the noise died, he was quick to begin with the rules and structure the exam would take. “Kame and Naoko,” he read off his clipboard, “you’re first. Everyone else can watch from the waiting area.” When he looked up, all but two of the genin scattered. He raised his hand in the air and brought it swiftly down in a signal to begin. Before the genin could move, he leaped to the alcove which served as the exit to the arena.
He stood by Temari’s side, watching the match closely. The two seemed even when it came to skill; this might take a while. Temari passed him two stat cards, one for each current participant. He was right. Their skills in taijutsu and ninjutsu were ranked closely, but the cloud genin had a kekkei genkai. Even so, the match could go either way. The betting tables were probably busy.
The hours seemed to drag on forever, if only because it took Shikamaru and Temari a matter of seconds to predict the outcome of each battle. It was too bad they weren’t allowed to place any bets; they could have made quite a bit of money, from what Shikamaru understood from the reactions of the spectators. As a proctor, he wasn’t supposed to show any bias, but he couldn’t hide his pleasure when Konohamaru and Moegi made it into the second round. Udon put up a good fight, but his opponent was several years older and had taken the exam before.
Shikamaru briefly took on the role of security guard in addition to proctor after Konohamaru’s victory, when Naruto tried to rush the arena. No sooner had Temari called the match did Konohamaru run to meet him in a display that could only be rivaled by Might Guy and Rock Lee in magnitude. He’d awkwardly sent the two weeping ninja back up the stairs to their seats, dreading what their reactions would be when Konohamaru met his next opponent the following day.
To their great relief, no major incidents occurred during the first nine matches. Shikamaru was almost hit with a fire jutsu when he rushed onto the field to call an unbalanced match, but that was the worst of it. For Shikamaru and Temari, it was almost a miracle. After the final match, Temari gave her brother a hand signal, at which he stood and gave his usual closing speech for such an event. The large crowd filed orderly through the corridor, needing no guidance or oversight.
Gaara and Kankuro remained on the upper level, where the feudal lord was taking the time to shake the kazekage’s hand and exchange a few words. Patiently, Shikamaru leaned against the wall and lit a cigarette, relieved that things had gone so well. Temari, who had extended her hand, took the pack from him and did the same.
She had just begun to relax when they were approached by Naruto and Konohamaru, who had remained behind while Ebisu took his teammates back to their lodgings. Temari flicked the ashes off the end of her cigarette, sending the glowing, red dust to the ground. Wanting to avoid stepping into conversation, she lifted it to her lips, providing herself with an excuse not to speak.
Shikamaru, on the other hand, gave Konohamaru an affectionate pat on the head. “You did good today, kid. Asuma’d be proud. Your gramps, too.”
The genin beamed at his praise, laughing to himself. “Thanks, big brother Shikamaru.”
“I’m gonna take Konohamaru out for ramen to celebrate,” Naruto declared. “It might not be Ichiraku, but we’ve gotta stick to tradition. You wanna come?” Realizing he was being rude, he added, “You can join us too, Temari.”
Temari exhaled a cloud of smoke before looking to Shikamaru. It was his decision. She wasn’t offended that she’d been an afterthought. Really, Naruto just assumed they went everywhere together at this point, even though he never asked why. Seeing that she didn’t care one way or the other, Shikamaru glanced up at Gaara and Kankuro. It seemed like they’d be a while, and he didn’t want to have to wait until they were through to eat. And, if they stuck around, they might get sucked into the political dance of formalities they had been able to avoid up to this point with the feudal lord.
“Sure,” Shikamaru agreed.
“Awesome! I saw this ramen place off the main road that looks pretty good.” Naruto suggested.
“No, you don’t want to go there,” Temari informed him, straightening from her position of leaning against the wall. “It’s expensive, and I’ve seen you eat ramen before. I know a place that will give you a bowl larger than Ichiraku for the same price.”
Naruto brazenly threw an arm around Temari’s shoulders, catching her off guard. She had to jerk her right hand away as not to burn him with the end of her cigarette. “Now, that’s what I like to hear!”
Temari shot Shikamaru a look to plead for his help as Naruto steered her along with him out of the arena. Amused, Shikamaru followed along, walking beside Konohamaru.
“You really think Uncle Asuma’s proud of me?” he asked. He knew that Shikamaru had been his uncle’s favorite, and he’d come to see Shikamaru as a surrogate who took his place after his death.
“Sure he is,” Shikamaru assured him. “He’s probably thrilled that you didn’t follow my lead and throw the match.”
“Hey, wasn’t that your match with Temari?” Naruto asked. He removed his arm from Temari’s shoulders and started to walk backwards so he could look at his friend as he talked. He chuckled. “Man, she was pissed.”
“You gave up?!” Konohamaru couldn’t believe what he was hearing. “But she kicked your butt the other day!”
“Watch it,” Shikamaru warned, flicking the back of his head.
Temari smiled to herself and hit it behind the palm of her hand, strategically inhaling from her cigarette. She supposed that a little flirting couldn’t hurt; they’d been doing it for years and no one had said anything. “Don’t tell me you’re still upset about it, Crybaby.”
“Alright, give it back.” Shikamaru gestured with his hand. “You take one of my smokes then insult me? It doesn’t work that way.”
As much as she wanted to turn around and tell him to take it if he wanted it, she knew that would be going a little too far. Instead, she looked back at him over her shoulder and tauntingly blew smoke in his direction.
“Oh, man, you’re just gonna take that?!” Naruto protested, falling back enough so that he could put a hand on Shikamaru’s shoulder. “Man up, Shikamaru!”
“It’s too much of a drag,” he complained, shrugging off Naruto’s grasp. “She’s already smoked more than half of it, so it wouldn’t even be worth the effort.”
“Make her give you one of hers,” Konohamaru suggested, not realizing that the conversation wasn’t about being fair.
“She doesn’t have any. She just takes mine.”
Konohamaru made a face. “So she kicks your butt and takes your stuff. If she’s a bully, why do you spend time with her?”
Shikamaru chuckled. “It’ll make sense when you’re older. Women are strange; they don’t work like we do.”
“Yeah, Sakura kicks my butt all the time, and I still spend time with her!” Naruto added.
“I don’t think that’s the same thing…” Konohamaru pointed out.
Temari laughed at this, enjoying the kid’s naïve wit. She slowed her pace until she was walking beside Konohamaru, on the outside of their small group. “It’s Konohamaru, right?”
“Konohamaru Sarutobi!”
“He’s Asuma’s nephew,” Shikamaru told her, giving a bit of context.
“Ah, I see.” As she looked down at him, she could tell that he wasn’t entirely sure what to think about her. Fair enough; few people did the first time they met her. She turned her gaze away and indicated a side street. “We need to turn here.”
“It looks a little sketchy,” Naruto complained.
“If it’s too scary for you, we can go back to the main street.”
Naruto huffed indignantly, insulted that she would suggest such a thing. “I never said that.”
The group stopped when Temari found the building she was looking for. The only thing signifying that it was a restaurant was the kanji for ramen painted on the façade. She dropped her cigarette into the sand and extinguished it with the bottom of her sandal before leading them inside.
The interior of the building was well-lit. It was small, with only a handful of tables, but the environment was pleasant. They were the only customers other than a family of five, who had tucked themselves away in the corner.
“Lady Temari!” The middle-aged woman in the kitchen beamed. “Sit wherever you like, dear. I’ll be right with you.”
Shikamaru shook his head. “I wish people would stop calling you that. It’s weird.”
“It comes with the bloodline,” she reminded him as she chose a table. Shikamaru took the chair to her left, and Naruto and Konohamaru sat across the table from them. She gestured to the wall by the kitchen, where the menu was painted in bold print. “They don’t have a lot of different things, but it’s all good.”
Temari was impressed. They had taken an entire hour to eat, and Naruto hadn’t annoyed her once. Although, she did need to remind herself that he’d been stuffing his face for a good portion of it.
Naruto patted his distended stomach as they walked, clearly satisfied with the meal. As the main road came into sight, he turned to look at Shikamaru and Temari. “You guys go on ahead. I’m gonna take Konohamaru back to Ebisu-sensei. Just don’t lock me out, ok?”
“Don’t worry,” Shikamaru assured him. “We won’t leave you where a sandstorm could take you.”
They waited until Naruto and Konohamaru had disappeared into the crowd before beginning their trek home.
“That went well,” Temari commented.
Shikamaru nodded in agreement. “I think he’s warmed up to you a bit. And he doesn’t seem to be angry that I punched him.”
“Asuma’s nephew seems like a good kid. But, aren’t you worried that he spends so much time with Naruto?”
“It’s way too late to do anything about it,” Shikamaru admitted. “He’s been Naruto’s mini-me for as long as I can remember.”
The two of them walked in silence for a bit before Shikamaru commented, “I don’t know what Gaara was worried about. Naruto’s completely oblivious.”
“We just need to keep it that way.”
“He didn’t think anything about it when he saw me in my underwear in your bathroom. I’m pretty sure he won’t notice.”
Temari turned the knob on her front door, but it was locked. Gaara and Kankuro hadn’t made it home, then. They dodged a bullet when they left with Naruto, that was for sure. She pulled out her key and inserted it, letting them inside. She turned on the hall light before taking off her shoes. “My back hurts from standing up all day,” she complained, more to herself than to Shikamaru.
“And we have to get up and do it all again tomorrow,” Shikamaru groaned. He’d forgotten that particular detail. He set off down the hall, looking forward to getting a little rest. They both needed it. Between the stress of the exams and the physical effort it took to keep a few of the genin from actively trying to kill one another, they were a little worse for wear.
“Don’t remind me,” Temari grumbled, rubbing her forehead with the thumb and index finger of her right hand. “I just want a hot shower.”
Shikamaru put an arm out against the wall to stop her in her tracks. He leaned forward and pressed his lips against her neck before saying “You know, if you want it hot, I can join you.”
Temari put her hands on his chest and pushed him away, looking at him in disbelief. Seeing his confusion, she burst into laughter, clutching her sides as she doubled over. “Oh my god!” She tried to straighten up, but she couldn’t help herself. “Oh, god, I can’t even look at you! I can’t breathe!”
“I was trying to be sexy…” he huffed, clearly missing his mark.
Temari shook her head as she wiped a tear from her cheek. “Never say anything like that again. Oh, god. Where the hell did you even hear that? It sounds like a line from Makeout Paradise!”
Shikamaru realized that his father and Asuma had more fun at his expense during his younger years than he knew. His complete lack of interest in women had prompted them to give him several unsolicited pointers, well out of earshot of Yoshino or Kurenai. It dawned on him that his sensei managed to troll him from beyond the grave with this one.
Finally able to compose herself, she took him by the hand and led him down the hall. “Come on, idiot.”
