Have you ever noticed that ever since season one of What If introduced Captain Carter, she's been showing up a lot more than Sam Wilson as Captain America? I once queationed it, which pissed off some Peggy stans on this site to the point where I had to alter the tags so I wouldn't have to deal with them.
Oh yeah I did, trust me, you’re not the only one. Many Sam or Steve or Bucky stans and, yk, Peggy antis here on tumblr noticed it, but her stans are just too stubborn to accept it.
In my humble opinion, I think Peggy is simply a better character for marvel to sell as cap (and not for the right reasons), which is why Sam’s cap hasn’t appeared in 2/3 years and all of Steve’s appearances were butchered.
Steve is noble, all about freedom and doing what’s right. He was a disabled son of immigrants who knew struggle and, in his own words, didn’t like bullies no matter where they came from, which means that doing what was right to him was more important than any government, any authority. Civil War is all about this characterization of Steve, and it’s why he was the perfect man for the job.
Sam is like Steve. He is a noble man who knew struggle and suffering growing up, who lost loved ones, his place in the world the moment he chose to follow what was right instead of what was ordered to him. He was ridiculed and beaten down, and risked losing it all multiple times, but that never made him back down. Plus, to add fuel to the fire, the higher powers would have never accepted him as Captain America because he’s black, no matter if Captain America himself passed the mantle to him, they wouldn’t have accepted him and still didn’t right up to the finale of TFATWS. Sam is perfect for the job and mirrors Steve as the perfect Captain America of his time.
Peggy is… well, she’s nothing of these things.
Yes, she’s a woman, and so everyone would be expected to find sympathy for her, to root for her, but aside from her stans no one actually does. Peggy has a support system and respect, like it or not, and she was relevant. She’s arrogant, she’s headstrong, and she doesn’t go against the system because she is the system. She’s not a minority, she never knew struggle, hell, she lived a comfortable life up until the war and after. And marvel can use her more than Sam or Steve because she’s not troublesome like them, she’s not going to rebel the system if not for selfish reasons or plot points. She’s not Steve, she’s not Sam, and she shouldn’t be, but at the same time Peggy should not be a Captain that marvel should enforce in their media over and over again.
As Erskine said, “Because the strong man who has known power all his life may lose respect for that power, but a weak man knows the value of strength and knows... compassion.” And while Steve and Sam don’t know strength in the sense that Erskine disregards, Peggy does. And if anything, she resembles John Walker.
Not to mention she is no character of her own, she’s simply the mixture of some characters thrown together in a cauldron, and in addition she’s a Mary Sue. She is a villain masked as hero, one that is convenient as a character and can be thrown from side to side as if she was some Y/N insert in an avengers fanfic.
Not only she has made more appearances than the current Captain America, but she managed to insert herself in the majority of What If…’s storylines, even more than actual main characters. Like, you want to tell me people actually want yet another episode about Peggy or with Peggy being a major character instead of Wanda, Loki or the main six avengers? No one does, not even the stans with a functioning brain. But Marvel will not stop, and whatever chokehold Hayley Atwell has on them will last until she’ll be satisfied with the colonization of all the possible marvel projects.
So ultimately, to answer your question: yes, I did notice Sam is being overshadow by a dusty side character that should have stayed dead back in 2016. You’re not alone, and I’m glad I’m not either. If you scroll on my profile you’ll soon find an old post of mine from last year, during the MoM era, where I was talking about this issue, and a Peggy stan went ballistic and on a rant on how I was using Sam as an excuse to hate on Peggy and justify Stucky. (Btw nice move altering the hashtags, I’ve done it too and it’s been a blessing for me.)
Feel free to check that post and come back in the asks, I’d love to discuss that and maybe share some posts regarding the issue (if I can find them lol)

The writers did the love of my life Ilsa Faust so dirty and I will NOT forgive and forget this!!! How dare you!!! Deadass!!!
---
Her death could have been valid-- but the unceremonious final fight scene? The unceremonious lack of reflection and/or emotional response from the other leads? The fact that they just replace her with Hayley Atwell's character in the squad 2 seconds after she's dead, even making room from Atwell's character to do that before she's even dead? Asking Ethan to choose between Ilsa and Grace when he's known Grace for like 1 day, and Ilsa is a beloved character and the only person who comes close to being his female equivalent in the series, like that's a reasonable question? And carrying on the horrible Boy's Club of spy movies in which female characters are replaceable going from film to film in a franchise (Bond notoriously does this, and now Mission fell back into that pattern as well)???!!! Ugh! Disgust! Sadness! This makes me unhinged. Ilsa was that bitch. Wifey. GIVE HER THE LOVE AND RESPECT AND CEREMONY SHE DESERVES!!!

1/6/2015. Nine years ago today, my life would change. Nine years ago, Agent Carter would help me realize my value. And ever since, it’s been 9 wonderful years of being head over heels in love with Peggy Carter and all of her forms.
Thank you Hayley Atwell for bringing her to life. You truly have inspired me and an entire fanbase. 🥰❤️🇬🇧

M:I Dead Reckoning Spoilers
This is your last warning.
OKAY so on the one hand, I cannot believe they killed off Ilsa!! Did they do a good job of foreshadowing it? Yes, I saw it coming a mile away even before they got to the bridge. However, (in my opinion) it was a disappointing move.
I was so down for Hayley Atwell to be in this movie. In fact, I still really love her character + character development over the course of the movie!! I think she was well fleshed out for her first movie!! But just because they introduced a new character (and dare I even say… love interest???) does not mean they can kill off the only other female on the team. They one-hundred-percent fridged her for the sake of Ethan’s dilemma later on in the movie, and that was after they already set up the first fridge in the beginning of the movie to show how angry/scared he was of this guy.
Furthermore, they killed her off to perpetuate Ethan’s tragic love life. We know that before Ethan joined the IMF, his SO was killed by Gabriel. In the first movie, the woman he was seeing on his team is killed with the rest of them in the beginning of the movie. We never hear from the thief (Ms. Hall?) after the second. Julia we know fakes her death and becomes a ghost after the third movie. And then, in Fallout, it seems like Ethan’s finally given permission (by Julia or himself or the circumstances, take your pick) to move on and be with Ilsa. Only for it to all fall apart in the very next movie!!
There was no reason to kill off Ilsa. It was bad writing, especially after hinting at Grace being his next love interest and killing off Ilsa because of her. There was no reason for Grace not to get along with everyone as friends in the IMF or as a contact or what have you and still have Ilsa as Ethan’s SO as well as a rogue agent/in the IMF/ghost contact.
That being said.
Now that I have finished blaming the writers, I must congratulate them in the way they handled Ilsa’s death. I mentioned earlier that I was able to see Ilsa’s death foreshadowed in the cinematography and the overall feel and narrative of the movie. Faking her death in the beginning of the movie to prime the audience for her real death later, having her face blown up on the tv screen behind the director when he tells Ethan that continuing this path will cost him, and the overly blatant call out of the entity that she was closer to the bridge than Ethan.
Concerning the bridge itself, I feel like it was somewhat ridiculous to have Ilsa carry a sword over a gun, but those feelings aside the sword v knife fight was freaking awesome. They did do her (as well as Grace before) justice in the fight against Gabriel in the fact that visually they were really cool looking fights and they weren’t taken out in two swings.
And on the matter of Grace’s presence at the bridge, I have to say it was very in character for Ilsa to pursue Gabriel in an effort to save Grace. From our first meeting with Ilsa, she was always willing to put an ally’s life before her own (just as Ethan is so prone to doing) and so character-wise, it makes sense for Ilsa to go in without backup, without waiting.
Am I still mad that she died? Absolutely! I could also talk about their usage and subsequent disposal of Paris (a really awesome and fun character; tbh I am not totally sure that’s her name), but right now I wanted to focus on Ilsa’s death as Paris’s role in the movie requires her own pros and cons list. However, I can say that I (personally) think that it was handled much better than some other movies deal with their characters deaths. Overall, it was a fantastic movie and I will be watching part two next year to see how they round off this arc.

Watched the new Mission Impossible movie tonight (why are all movies coming in 2 parts now?) and it was a really good action/spy movie with lots of double crosses and bait & switch moves.
The scene on the train in the third act was like the last half of Titanic lol I wonder if someone on the production team has worked with James Cameron before.
Loved Hayley Atwell’s character Grace but my favourite was Pom Klemintieff’s French assassin Paris, she had a bit of a psycho Harley Quinn vibe at some points in the movie. Hope she will have a bigger role in Part Two and teams up with Ethan and co against Gabriel and The Entity.
Also it seems like the new villain for movies now is AI (art imitating life I guess), like for years in spy/action movies the bad guys were whoever the West was at war or in conflict with.

I don't care for Peggy Carter. I think as a character, she's just okay. I'm pretty indifferent about her. But Jesus Christ. The "Peggy Carter bad because Hayley Atwell bad" discourse is so exhausting. You can dislike a character. I dislike many characters. But going after the actress and accusing her of things repeatedly on this blog is so weird to me because I have no idea what any of us is supposed to do about it.
*If* Atwell is guilty of anything (again, *if*) I'm sorry to tell you we don't have the power to do shit. "But there's evidence-" We still can't do shit. It's not our job. Police exists, judges exist, lawyers exist, etc. Something similar happens with Tumblr's security. Sometimes users and blogs get hacked here, I'm sure you're familiar with some cases. Some people lose their blogs, some others are lucky and get them back/never lose them to begin with because they're still logged in and change their passwords, but I'm sure you're already familiar with the ridiculous amount of bots and... well, sometimes users get hacked. Plenty of people constantly complain about how Tumblr's security is not safe because they have day one exploits and vulnerabilities that staff refuses to fix, which makes this site a laughing stock for hackers. Okay. If staff refuses to fix them, what the hell are we, the users, supposed to do? We can't fix their shit for them. Staff needs to do better, not us. The fuck. There is no use in screaming at me or any other user about it. All I do is reblog superhero stuff. Complain to staff, not to us. Similarly, there is no use in screaming at us about how bad Hayley Atwell is and how bad Peggy Carter is. Because we can't do jack shit. Is it really so hard to understand? We're just trying to watch superhero movies, here. And she happens to be an actress playing a character.
At the end of the day you're just being repetitive. You're not engaging in constructive debate or making anyone agree with you. Giving us 3000 potential "better love interests than Peggy Carter" or repeatedly attacking Atwell is not going to have the effect you think. It's sad. It feels like some sort of wish fulfillment for you. I get it, the MCU has attractive people, we can dream. Self-insert fics exist for a reason and are valid. It's cool. But don't try to censor people or tell them how they should think or feel about a particular character. I am friends with people whose ideas about certain characters are completely different from mine, but we have fun debating because... these characters aren't real.
People are going to like what they like and ship what they ship, just like you do. Maybe you're struggling and feel like this is the only thing giving your life meaning, because I don't understand being this invested and fixated on a particular thing (and I say this as an autistic person. Hyperfixation has been a trait of mine since childhood, but I was never this full of hate - I've hated people, but not to this extent). I get it. No, really. For so long I've been emotionally attached to the GOTG because they are my comfort characters. But I never want to become a shitty person for them. I like them precisely because they make me better. I don't mean to say this in a condescending way, but get help. If you can't accept that people have different opinions, you are going to live a very unhappy life.
No fandom is perfect, clearly. But the world is crazy - wars, pandemics, suffering. Let's maybe try to be a little kinder to ourselves and each other. I expect this advice to be ignored, but I want to put it out there regardless. I think we need to humanize each other more often, especially when we're online. That includes actors, directors, etc. Ignore Hayley Atwell if her existence makes you this angry. You'll be happier. Let's not spend our limited time on this floating rock in space being angry all the time.
And for fuck's sake... it's fiction. Don't forget.

It’s a tearjerking story about a Pakistani Muslim immigrant-born British boy who loves American rock-n-roll legend Bruce Stringsteen.
It’s a quintessential intersectional story. One of those rare biographical stories that is well-written. My eyes watered at the end. MUST WATCH!
Blinded by the Light (also known as Music of My Life) is a 2019 British comedy-drama film directed by Gurinder Chadha. It was inspired by the life of journalist Sarfraz Manzoor and his love of the works of Bruce Springsteen. It stars Viveik Kalra, with Hayley Atwell, Rob Brydon, Kulvinder Ghir and Nell Williams.

Hi....If you don't mind, can I ask, what are your top 10 (or top 7) favorite media (can be books/ manga/ anime/movies/tv series)? Why do you love them? Sorry if you've answered this question before......Thanks....
These questions always have me like... do I know 10 of anything?
The order doesn't indicate anything, I will number them to keep track.
Gunnerkrigg Court by Tom Siddell- I could write that I love it because it has Coyote and end there because that'd be enough. But I also like so many of the characters Annie, Kat, Shadow and Robot, and Parley and Smit and like so so many of the characters. And most of all I love the world building and the story. God how amazingly it is set up.
Digger by Ursula Vernon- The black and white art style is stunning. The story and world building are just so so amazing. My inner anthropology enthusiast connects very deeply with this anthropology coded comic. And also it has Grim Eyes, and Ed and Shadow Child.
Blame! by Nihei Tsutomu - This is still the most beautiful comic I've seen. Idk what about it resonates with me so much but I regularly just like to open volumes at random and look at it. The concept is good too, don't get me wrong. And it's like a 10 vol manga that kinda has like 2 characters that matter and most pages don't have any dialogue or writing at all...
Every single piece of Kon Satoshi's - literally everything that man made is amazing. It's beautiful for one. But also everything he made was about perception of reality. About how reality is formed from the subjective human mind. How it is formed from imperfect memory and lack of full knowledge because it's impossible to have all the information. etc. He hasn't made much, his life was cut far too short. You can watch everything in a week and you should.
The Pillow Book by Sei Shounagon - This book is such a vibe. Shounagon can be subtle yet savage. It's a very easy read too, it's very relaxing. And you can just open it at random and read a bit and just enjoy its beauty.
Hunter x Hunter by Togashi Yoshihiro - It traumatised me, I haven't recovered since. It has permanently merged with my consciousness. It includes Gon and Killua and many other characters I love and very neat writing and a bs power system that's absolutely amazing.
Jujutsu Kaisen by Akutami Gege - It traumatised me, I haven't recovered since. It has permanently merged with my consciousness. It includes Yuuji and Kenjaku and some very neat writing and some frustrating writing and a bs power system that's absolutely amazing.
Parenthesis by Élodie Durand - It's one of the best uses of comic as a medium I've ever seen. The theme in itself is very much up my alley because it's about memory, and perception and the mind. But the way it uses comic... I don't think this story could've been told in any other medium, or if it was it just wouldn't be so much...
Mononoke (2007) by Toei Animation - Fuck me it's beautiful. I'm very not normal when it comes to textile art and it's like textile art but anime... And the stories are fucking amazing. It has a whole story about koudou the traditional art of incense ... There's nothing better than this.
The Duchess (2008) - It's a very entertaining fanfiction about the fascinating woman that was Georgiana Cavendish. Her biography is also a very good read but heavier, but also more nuanced. And Keira Knightley and Hayley Atwell are amazing in it. Plus the visuals...
___
I think I reached 10, yay. Honorable mentions to Berserk by Miura Kentaro - it's just beautiful; Avatar the Last Airbender - it still holds up after all this time; The Witcher aka what my teenage self loved (2 short stories books and the 4 volumes of the saga, the 5th book is so bad you should never read it); Scanner Darkly by Philip K. Dick - another fav of my teen self; Paradise Kiss by Ai Yazawa - it's about fashion and has fun characters just not George XD; Velvet Goldmine - the queerness and the fashion.
I'm 100% sure I'm forgetting a lot.

choose violence: 12 + 16 + 24 (sorry in advance if I pick ones you've already answered)
12. the unpopular character that you actually like and why more people should like them
I answered Howard for this the last time, who else is actually unpopular that I like...I'm going to say Betty Ross. I don't think she's necessarily unpopular, I think that for the greater MCU she's just less known because she only appeared in The Incredible Hulk, which is now fifteen years old, not available on Disney+, and had its main character recast in The Avengers, so it's really easy to overlook. TIH also has some weird pacing, but given what she actually does in TIH, Betty is just...incredibly strong, character-wise, and manages to give off such a vivid sense of personality despite not necessarily having a lot to do in the film. And at the risk of defining her in respect to Bruce Banner, I think she occupies a really unique position in regard to him, because at the end of the day Betty Ross loves Bruce Banner full stop, end of story, no questions asked; everyone else sees Bruce in terms of "here's the Hulk," with not much space left for Bruce himself, and Betty is the only person who's more interested in Bruce than the Hulk. And all of that comes through in TIH; this is a woman who blows up her whole life for the man she loves and then has to live with the wreckage.
16. you can't understand why so many people like this thing (characterization, trope, headcanon, etc)
oh, most things, though usually I can turn my brain sideways enough to figure out why people like them even if they do absolutely nothing for me and are usually contra canon (or at least my read on canon). what's one of them. oh, wait, here's one that I absolutely do not get: people who really want Thor to not be king or to be in a position of leadership/responsibility. (I haven't seen TLAT yet, so I don't know what that movie does with it.) inasmuch as they had a through-line, the first three Thor movies are all dealing with kingship in the medieval Germanic sense, good kingship, bad kingship, culminating in Thor taking up that responsibility in Ragnarok (and then having it stripped away from him in IW); kind of similar to this read on Theoden. And for me, as someone who grew up reading Germanic (Norse, English, Old English, etc.) literature and mythology and who is a classically-trained medieval historian as well as being a high fantasy reader all my life, it's really obvious to me that that is what those movies were doing. And while Endgame itself later completely flinches away from it, even before that, I see so many Thor fans who were really angry that Thor actually took up the throne, and I do not understand, to this day, where that is coming from. like, is it general American "we hate monarchies"? is it people who are not familiar with those tropes? is it people who just decided they hated Asgard? like, I literally do not understand!
24. topic that brings up the most rancid discourse
gave a list for this in my last response so here's part 2
the MCU: is it good or bad (it's neutral, y'all; it's done some things really well and some things really poorly, and yes, it changed the face of the entertainment industry; I don't think it's as easy to answer as a yes or no question)
any of the deaths in Infinity War and Endgame. like, pick one, it always goes terribly.
does Asgard have primogeniture? I don't actually know how much discourse there is about this but it's the one that drives me personally insane.
Tony Stark and Peter Parker. any variation of this just goes places.
how absolutely weird Hayley Atwell and Peggy Carter fans are about Sharon Carter and Emily van Camp. I don't know how much this one comes up anymore but I've Seen Things.
