"Class is almost about to start, MC isn't here yet?" Barbatos asked, turning to Satan. "I saved them a seat up front."

The blonde shrugged and arranged his paints and brushes. "They got out of the house with us and said they had some work with a professor. Haven't seen MC since."

"It's odd considering how much MC loves art classes." Simeon pointed out.

"My, my, is it because we have to paint a naked model today? Did MC get embarrassed? Oh they're so cute!" Asmo laughed.

"It's okay, I just received a text MC. They said they'll be here a little later." Solomon said, holding up his DDD. "Also said they have a suprise for us?"

"Attention, students." The art professor walked in. Everyone turned towards him, waiting for instructions.

"So the concept we have to represent in this assignment is Temptation. And for that, I've asked for the help of one of your fellow students to model for us. Please treat them with utmost respect."

The door on her left opens, towards which the Professor smiles and beckons. "Yes, come on in, MC."

"I'm sorry, am I hearing things, or did I just hear MC's name?!" Levi almost fell off his seat.

"No I heard the same." Lucifer gritted his teeth, as if trying to brace himself for what may come. Mammon was quiet. His jaw slackened open due to shock. Is he dreaming?

And then much to everyone's anticipation, you walked in. Wearing nothing but a flower crown on your head, your bare body glistening in the studio lights.

"Hi boys." You smiled and whispered at them as you took your place on the chair placed center stage. They had barely registered what was happening and then struck your pose.

You trained your eyes on your favourite and parted your lips just a touch, as if aching for a kiss.

Oh they had never felt temptation this acutely before.

From "Time to paint" Devilgram:

Bit of context about this devilgram: The Mc, Asmo and Satan have to do a portrait for their art class with Simeon as their model. The Mc stays to finish their assigment but the brush they were using was cursed and ends up scribbling all over the drawing.

Lucifer comes to the rescue lifting the curse but the damage is done. Sincerely I would have nuked this man to the pits of hell for saying "A picture can always be redraw", it's true but it doesn't make it less frustrating when you spent hours drawing something only for some curse to ruin your hard work.

Also they don't tell you who the heck cursed the brush nor seem interested in doing so which is kind of unnerving. Why? While the brush was a harmless prank it should be noted that whoever did it could easily slip it to the MC's materials(or the class materials If they share them.). What if It was something dangerous? Something thar could harm the human exchange student?.

I thought I’d give something different a try (I’ll be back to posting imagines soon) and write an Obey Me! AU. I know it’s simple but eh, I enjoyed doing it. Hopefully, you enjoy reading it! xo

Lucifer ~

A teacher's pet. Let's be honest.

Nobody bullies him, though, something in his eyes tells them that’s a bad idea.

President of the chess club and student council. Straight A student. Top of the class.

Kind of a loner but talks to the teachers a lot.

You first meet when you walk into him in the hall. You drop your books and have to gather them up. He helps you.

Starts off silent around you. Maybe he’s shy?

Turns out to be the kindest person. Helps you with your homework and keeps you on a study schedule.

Anyone who bullies you magically disappears.

Mammon ~

The class clown and local idiot.

Constantly roasted by everyone but believes they’re all laughing with him.

A reserve on a sports team and won’t stop talking about it, even though he’s never played a game. Doesn’t know what his grades are because he couldn’t care less.

Knows everyone but never seems to have close friends.

Assigned to be your guide on the first day.

Annoys you at first but always has your back.

You come to rely on him more than anyone else.

Constantly having to lend him lunch money.

Will beat up anyone who bullies you.

Leviathan ~

School loner/ anime nerd but resents being called either.

Can’t hear anyone bullying him because he constantly has his headphones in.

Runs a series of fan clubs for idols/ tv-shows/ role-playing/ games. Average student but excels at art. Hates gym.

The ring leader of all the other otaku’s.

Notices your anime notebook and hasn’t left you alone since.

You try to ditch him at first but then find yourself defending him when people insult him.

Realise he’s accidentally become your best friend.

Unapologetically himself and you love that.

Compliments you whenever anyone tries to drag you down.

Satan ~

Supergenius.

Nobody bullies him because he has an evil temper.

Library assistant and prefers the librarian to the other students. The English department’s favourite student. Straight A student. Competing with Lucifer for the top of the class.

Doesn’ t need friends, they disappoint him.

You both reached for the same book at the library and brushed hands.

You could listen to him talk about his favourite books all day.

Constantly debate which book is better. He reads some YA Fiction for you just so you have someone to talk to about it.

Everyone’s super nice to you because they’re all terrified of him and the last student to upset you hasn’t been seen in over a month.

Asmodeus ~

The most popular person in school.

Far too popular to be bullied. Nasty comments don’t offend him because he’s beautiful and he knows it.

In the drama club just so everyone gets to look at him on stage. Volunteer model for the photography club. Tried being a cheerleader but didn’t want to be obstructed from view.

Has more friends than he can count.

Complimented your hair on the first day and has given you twenty makeovers since then.

An absolute sweetheart who constantly hypes you up.

His confidence rubs off on you.

Beelzebub ~

A jock but also a sweetheart.

Everyone loves him. They don’t even mind when he steals their food.

In virtually every sports team and good at all of them. Not great at schoolwork and his grades show it. Still tries his best though. Sticks his tongue out when he’s working out a maths problem.

Friends with everyone because he’s too pure to hate anyone. The whole school's big brother.

Helped you carry your books to class on your first day.

Greets you with a hug every time he sees you. They’re the best hugs you’ve ever had.

Impossible to be sad around him. He’s human sunshine.

Constantly ‘bulking’ for sports but actually just loves eating.

Will protect you from everyone and everything if you need it.

Belphegor ~

Total slacker.

People forget who he is because he’s such a soft presence.

Joined a club once but got kicked out for falling asleep in every meeting. Grades are awful because he just naps.

Doesn’t want friends because you have to be awake to talk to them.

Caught you falling asleep in maths and let you share his pillow.

Instant best friends.

Hosts the best sleepovers.

Not afraid to fight anyone who upsets you.

Diavolo ~

King of the jocks.

School celebrity.

Also really into politics an actually really smart. Tutors some of the other students.

Calls everyone his friends but actually only close to a handful of people. Soft spot for Lucifer.

Assigned to tutor you and just became fascinated by your life story.

Constantly tries to impress you.

You’re popular through association.

Simeon ~

That one student who is super good at all of the arts.

Popular but doesn’t flaunt it.

Literally president of all the art clubs. Constantly wins the talent shows.

Nice to everyone but has a soft spot for a young student called Luke. Literally becomes his guardian angel which makes everyone like him even more.

Heard you singing to yourself and insisted that you try out for choir and the musical.

Praises you but reminds you that he’s still better.

You were a great model, and it would be a waste if the paints I opened went unused.” Certainly, Simeon is a unique subject to paint, and it was an astoundingly serene experience to capture his likeness across the canvas — something Satan wishes to repeat if allowed. He then adds, “Shall I sweeten the offer with afternoon tea?” Cadence light, a note of cheer curls from the tongue as he rests one hand on his hips, knowing he doesn’t need to wait long before the archangel answers. ❞

›› The day's classes had been enlightening as always, and it left Simeon metaphorically glowing with delight — the physical glow held back for the sake of his peers in the Devildom, of course. He had just barely managed to slip his books in to his bag when a familiar voice graced his ears and its matching hand with nails painted a vivid green passed across his vision; it prompted Simeon to look up and return the gaze that had been looking for him with a smile. It was none other than Satan who had approached, and he had demonstrated a restraint towards Luke that did not go unnoticed by Simeon in the slightest. How delightfully curious, he must have been in a good mood to not make a scathing dog joke today.

›› Then Satan speaks, and the question is one that he had not quite expected to hear. He did not recall there being another art assignment like that this week; the demon's inquiry was based almost entirely on his own curiosity and desires it seemed, and it had taken the angel by surprise. Despite his initial wide-eyed look of wonder that had been writ all over face, he quickly found his lips curled upwards again in that familiar gentle beam that Simeon was known for.

❝ Was I really that good? ❞ ›› he asked sheepishly, a small flush of red tinting his cheeks from modesty. He was glad Luke had barreled off to find Solomon, or he wouldn't hear the end of it from the younger one. ❝ I'm quite flattered that you would ask to paint me during your free time. There's no need to "sweeten the deal" at all, though — I would be happy just knowing you're enjoying yourself as well. ❞

Pride in our collection

By Hannah and Zara, work experience students in the Learning Team.

During Pride month, we have been considering what it is to be part of both an LGBT+ and a Jewish community and the intersection between them, by looking at images within our collection.

We have been looking at different images, the first ones being drawings of David and Jonathon by Simeon Solomon. Solomon was born in London in 1840 to a middle-class Jewish family. He was gay and found creative and unique ways to express his sexuality through art. His early works were influenced greatly by Shakespeare and the Bible. As he grew up in a Jewish home, Solomon received a religious upbringing which was reflected in his art. He illustrated characters from Bible stories, often with Hebrew captions

These images are from one of Solomon’s early sketchbooks from a collection of pen and ink drawings. The image on the left is of David in battle armour embracing Jonathon. The image on the right is of David with a crown clasping Jonathon wearing a helmet and holding a pennet.

David and Jonathon were heroic figures from the Book of Samuel who formed a pledge of friendship – “Jonathon made a covenant with David, because he loved him as his own soul” (1 Samuel 18). This relationship of love may be especially surprising considering the context of the two figures, who were rivals for the monarchy of the Kingdom of Israel.

The biblical account of David and Jonathon has been interpreted by some, especially modern LGBT+ groups, as the story of two lovers, which is emphasised in Solomon’s drawings. These images and the love between David and Jonathon are important as they represent another type of Jewish experience that is not always represented in Jewish art and tradition. They also show how one LGBT+ artist found role models within his tradition, boldly reclaiming a story to reflect something from his own experience.

Another, more recent image, we’ve been looking at is this photograph taken by Judah Passow in 2010. It depicts a gay couple dancing at the end of the Simchat Torah service at a Liberal synagogue in West London. It appeared at the Museum in 2012 as part of Passow’s ‘No Place Like Home’ exhibition, a series of photographs which documented what Judaism meant to him.

Simchat Torah (which literally means ‘joy of Torah’) is a celebration of the annual Torah readings, and of Jewish law and customs. Traditionally the ceremony consists of much singing and dancing, sometimes continuing all day and into the night. This photo has captured a key and interesting part of an individual Jewish experience. If Simchat Torah is a celebration of Jewish law, this photo, and the act of the couple dancing and enjoying the festivities together – is also a celebration of the multiplicity of interpretation when it comes to the Torah and Jewish teachings.

The Liberal Judaism UK website displays this quote; “Judaism has never stood still. It has always moved forward, sometimes slowly, sometimes faster. Its history is a history of continuity and change. – Affirmation 23”. Therefore, when discussing and teaching about Judaism, as arguably with most subjects of historical/ religious enquiry, it is important not to exclude the breadth and depth of experience and rather aim to demonstrate the complexities and nuances of real, lived experience.

Both these images have been used within the museum to spark discussion around the intersection between Judaism and being LGBT+, and the experiences of people who are part of both communities, especially when considering the young people who interact with the exhibits. However, also, during pride month, it is important to consider the possible positive effect these images may have in terms of representation. Feeling your own image and relationships are recognisable in a learning environment can help young people (and people of all ages!) to feel more engaged, interested and understood.

Proposal

▸ What exactly will you be taking filming? Include sketches or mock-ups.

We are going to be doing this for a Company called Guerrilla Logic which is a street fashion style. The piece of clothing that we are going to be shooting is a new T-shirt that they are going to be releasing soon so they want some promotional images. To make the image into a Cinemagraph by blowing wind onto the subject so the T-shirt moves and keep everything still. We are going to shoot this at a hotel called Lace Market Hotel if we get permission; also, we are going to do another shoot at Wollaton Hall.

▸ Is your work fine art or commercial? Why? How many cinemagraphs are you making and why?

Our work is going to be commercial and we are going to try to create a couple of different cinemagraphs within this one location. The number of different cinemaraphs are going to be different depending on the room size and quality of objects within it.

▸ Outline the technical process you will need to follow.

The technical process that I will need to do is to use Adobe Photoshop to create the video into the cinemagraph.

Plan

▸ What equipment will you need?

o LED Lights – to light up the room if there is not enough natural light.

o Camera that is capable of Video: Nikon D810

o Tripod – this is to keep the camera steady

o Fan or Card Board – to make some wind within the image

o Lens: Nikon 24-120mm

o Reflector – to help with the lighting and shadows.

▸ When and where will you be taking your shots?

We are going to be shooting at two different locations, which are the steps at Wollaton Hall, and a hotel called Lace Market Hotel if we get permission from them to shoot in one of their rooms.

▸ Who will you be working with?

Ollie – Photographer.

Josh – Director of the shoot and Set Design.

Simeon – Editor and Lighting techniques.

▸ What props will you need?

Rationale

▸ Why have you chosen this subject?

Because we were reached by the brand on Instagram to promote their new drop they are about to do with a new T-shirt. Therefore, we all thought that it would be a good idea to have this opportunity to shoot this cinemagraph.

▸ How has your research influenced you? What have you learned from the cinemagraphs you have looked at?

From doing research into this we have found out that, there is not much street fashion within the posh style of a building or rooms. From the cinemagraphs that we have found online we found out that there is a lot of product photography done with this style but not in the way that we are going to show it.

▸ What do you hope to show or communicate to the audience?

We are hoping to communicate the quality of the item of clothing and the target audience is from around 16+ so it is showing to them how the company feel about high class.

▸ What do you hope to learn?

I am hoping to learn how to properly prepare and shoot for a real client on location. I hope to gain skills with in fashion photography and gain skills working with clients and models.
