The Life After You - Part 2
“It's absolutely no!” Hermione exclaimed angrily as Ron finished saying that they got the invitation of Scorpius Malfoy’s birthday at his horrible house.
“It's only a birthday party of a five year old kid, Hermione,” said Ron softly. He knew his wife would say no but he needed to try.
Ron and Harry were now civil with Malfoy but unlike them, Hermione still hated him so much. The abhorrence grew as the Ministry let Lucius Malfoy out of Azkaban, made him house-arrest forever with no wand and magic among his house. On the other hand, Narcissa Malfoy’s fate was far different from his husband: she got back her high positions in Pure-blood society as she donated so many galleons for Hogwarts, St Mungo, and any other instances which needed money. Some people praised her but some others were just like Hermione.
“So?”
“Scorpius himself sent the invitation to me.”
“Then you come alone. There's no need for Rose and Hugo to be near their horrible house.”
“How can I come alone? The invitation is for us.”
“Not us. I will never —”
“Then I'll go with Rose,” stated Ron softly. He didn't want to make his wife furious. He just wanted to come for the sake of Scorpius. Rose will be happy to attend a birthday party since James and Albus will be there too. He wants Hugo to come as well but he's too young to understand the meaning of birthday party.
“What if something bad happens to my daughter? I will blame you and Malfoy for everything.”
“Nothing bad will happen,” Ron whispered. He tried to reassure his wife. “Harry will be there too. Trust me, Rose will be safe.”
“Well, I trust you but not Malfoy,” Hermione scoffed as she rolled her eyes and folded her arms. “Do you need a reminder about the event once we got there a long time ago?” sneered Hermione.
How could he not remember? He remembered every detail. Hermione’s scream still haunted him. She still had nightmares and drank potion if she needed to endure the pain.
“I do not because I still remember it clearly,” Ron took a step forward and reached for her hand. “This time, I promised you, it will be different. He told me that his father won't come. That man lives in another wing of their house. No one will be able to hurt Rose or me or Harry and the boys. You have my words, Hermione.”
Hermione pulled Ron closer and hugged him, resting her head on his shoulder. “Stay with her and do not let Malfoy touch Rose. Him or his son.”
Ron brushed her hair and kissed the back of her head. “He's not that bad, Scorpius, but I'm sure Rose will do as you say.”
“Just because you and Malfoy have kind of unsaid agreement about your relationship, it doesn't mean I have to agree with that.”
“You're right, but it's not only personal but also business.”
Hermione pushed Ron softly then sat at the nearest sofa, resting her again. “My business with him is always personal: from bullying me because of my blood and making you quit your job after the incident.”
“It had nothing to do with him, Hermione.”
“You said it was.”
“It was one of the reasons.”
“You were one of the great Auror, Ron. I still despise him.”
Ron took a deep breath and released it. It was still hard for Hermione to understand the situation. He sat beside her and held her hand. “We agreed that I would quit to help George long before the accident happened. And they already sent an apology and everything because they thought they were the reason. They were not the only reason but we agreed to not tell anyone the real reason. Do you need a reminder, Hermione?”
Hermione gusted and untwined her hand from his. “You could have been the head of the Auror, Ron.”
“You know I never wanted to stay in high positions. I enjoyed my job and I am enjoying mine now.”
“Yeah, you are the Head Branch of your family business. How is it not that high?”
Ron giggled and Hermione frowned. “It's only because George had the trust issue after that stupid bitch took his money. It took 6 months for him to finally accept Malfoy’s offer and rebuild the shop.”
“I wish we can stop talking about Malfoy.”
“We were not talking about him, my dear. I know you hate him that much and I won't stop you but I really want you to try. Not now, of course. Only if you're ready.”
Hermione nodded as now she hugged Ron tightly. The peacefulness rose immediately as Ron kissed the top of her head.
“And we have an appointment tomorrow morning.”
She nodded again, closed her eyes, and pulled him closer. She wasn't ready for tomorrow 's appointment but she had to.
She really loved this man. She couldn't imagine her life without Ron. They've been together since 11 years old until now. She didn't want a life without him. The idea of Ronald Weasley leaving this world frightened her. She didn't know how long she would stay with him like this: hugged him like they still had more time.
She wished she could freeze the time and lived there.
Part 2 is here. I wish you could write something to correct or give thought about this one.
