hey where did this come from 🤨
I FINALLY FINISHED IT. phew. here’s an mock-up info page for haru allegro, my rain code OC!
might get into talking about her dynamics with the rest of the NDA and such later, but for now have this
official description under cut in case it’s hard to read:
Haru Allegro
Japanese VA: Sora Amamiya
English VA: Allanah Fitzgerald
One of the Master Detectives dispatched to Kanai Ward. Her Forte is Soundproofing.
Despite being certified as a Master Detective by the World Detective Organization, she is more often recognized for her work as a contract advisor or an arbitrator. She is a versatile thinker and uses any information she gathers to her advantage, but at times she may be a bit dense and hold certain preconceptions that cloud her judgement.
Forensic Forte: Soundproofing
The ability to block sound in a wide variety of spaces, as long as it is within a short distance from her.
————
also here’s a transparent version of her splash ⬇️
i also wrote my voice claims for her! for her japanese voice i was mostly imagining sora amamiya’s role as akame in akame ga kiru (though a bit stronger with her diction). for english, literally i just listened to fitzyVA / allanah fitzgerald’s voice demo and i knew her medium/lower voice was perfect

"it is the realm beyond, and between, and through, and past the world"
since the release of the character playlists, and the rain road in the arc 1 finale my brain has been absolutely spinning about musicality in the wizard, the witch, and the wild one. and the relationship between music and the spirit realm, and then how that intersects with umora.
because since the beginning there has been this emphasis between the world of spirits and music. eursulon's theme, when we first meet him, before he crosses over, is this beautiful choral music—the first time we hear singing in the show. and then there is your honey is quiet, honey with a note of song. the first diegetic song we hear performed, is sung to honour the spirits.
(edit: eursulon’s breath!!! the thing that brings him back to himself, after it had been lost!!!!)
so i have the rain road on repeat and i'm re-listening to fireside chats and in the one for the first episode brennan describes the world of spirit by saying "it is the world beyond, and between, and through, and past the world" and it reminded me of the scoring. we hear the stories of umora, but beyond, between, through, and past the world; surrounding it, but separate from it is the score. (making me feel like us, the audience, is sitting and existing in the spirit realm. and if it is supernal, if it is what is beyond and between and through and past the world— aren't we?)
but that called to mind eursulon's character playlist, and how it, especially in it's representations of eursulon's early journey, was so instrumental. and that led me to ponder the intersection of music and language. how young eursulon's theme was choral but not lyrical.
the structure of language is the domain of umora.
and how that intersects interestingly with what we have seen of the lingua arcana. suvi's rhythmic somatic components. reflexive indicative and null clef alluding to the structure of grammar and music theory.
and then how the rain road is choral and lyrical, together. the first breaking of that line between the score and the world. connecting, like ame does.
and that is why in the wizard the witch and the wild one ame is a meta narrative representation of musical theatre. in this essay i will—

Read a bit of that Rain Code light novel "Waiting for Yuma", so here's my lil translation of the prologue.
Let's talk about justice.
For instance, there is a certain system to the way this world works that we may call the embodiment of justice.
That is the [World Detective Organization] -------- an extra-legal organization dedicated to the [eradication of unsolved cases around the world].
It is a large-scale organization with detective agencies established around the world serving as branches. There are 1,000 detectives belonging to this organization. Some of them are called [Master Detectives] and boast their own unique [Forensic Fortes].
What is a [Forensic Forte]?
It is a supernatural ability used for investigation.
For example, Postcognition.
For example, Disguise.
For example, Spectral Projection.
For example…… There could be such things as the extraordinary ability to turn back time.
Those who naturally possess the quality of various skills acquire these special abilities for the purpose of investigation through training at the World Detective Organization. Thus, only those who boast a [Forensic Forte] are recognized as [Master Detectives]---- The detective is awarded with a [Master Detective] deed. Possession of this deed is proof of their status as a [Master Detective].
In other words, the [Master Detectives] are the ones who solve all mysteries ---- the enforcer of justice.
However, I would like to ask you a question.
No, I suppose I want to ask myself a question by talking to the hypothetical existence of you.
What is justice?
Justice is an ambiguous word. Depending on one's subjectivity, it can change connotation as much as one likes. People have human justice, and unraveling unsolved cases does not necessarily mean that it will be understood.
In fact, I know that the justice that the [World Detective Organization] strives for likewise conflicts with society.
Therefore, justice is a dubious thing. Nevertheless, if I were dare to define it, I believe it would be "to eradicate all unsolved mysteries from this world and bring happiness to everyone".
If only,
someday.
If only there would be someone who shares these thoughts of mine, and is willing to make the endeavor to lend me their assistance could appear. Someone who could clear the grey sky of its falling rain, with whom to stand alongside.
I am,
I am……
So that's how it is.
By any means, would we want to become friends, I wonder.
Boring, albeit hopeful perhaps.
Well, my time is over. Let's put this tale to rest.
Today once again, many mysteries await the detective.

I wonder if Lord Eclipse's world has rain..... Like, is the weather and time of day something he still allows? Maybe at the start, during the first several decades where his form was more stable, he liked to keep the world bright and clear. Maybe less for the "good of the people" and more because he hated not being able to see.
But maybe like, as time went on, the less stable he grew and the more the star started to hurt him, he grew less caring of the time and weather and let it run as it naturally would so that the power strained him less. Maybe Sun still remembers a time when every window would have a warm beam of sunlight pouring through it. Maybe it's why he feels wrong looking at the stained glass windows as rain patters down them. Maybe it's something else. He doesn't want to know if it's something else.
