“Boss,” F.R.I.D.A.Y. announces, her loud and chipper tone pulling Tony out of his concentration. “Peter has arrived.”

“Thanks,” Tony mumbles in reply. He removes his glasses and rubs a hand over his face, trying to relax his jaw and clear his head. He’s been working for the past three hours and had nearly lost track of time, and the ding of the elevator behind him has him quickly putting his glasses back on and stretching his arms out in front of him as he readies himself for the human-sized ball of endless energy that is Peter Parker.

“Hi, Mr. Stark!” Peter’s voice is muffled like he’s got something in his mouth, and Tony turns around to see him taking a bite out of a comically bright red apple on a stick. He chews loudly, walking over to his work station and looking over Tony when he doesn’t reply. “Wha’?” He asks around another mouthful of apple.

Tony snorts. He has a hard time keeping a straight face around the kid sometimes, but he still tries– can’t have anyone thinking he’s too much of a softie. “Nothing. Finish your snack and get started on your homework.”

“It’s not just any snack, Mr. Stark!” Peter’s eyes widen in excitement. He holds up the half-eaten apple with a grin. “It’s a candy apple! You know what that means, right? It’s officially fall! Which is my favorite season, hands down. Not too cold, not too warm, all the leaves are changing colors and it’s beautiful! Not to mention, you have pretty much all the best holidays coming up–” He stops short the way he does when he realizes he’s rambling, closing his mouth and giving Tony a sheepish smile.

“Looks delicious,” Tony says, gesturing to Peter’s backpack. “Homework.”

“Really? You want some?”

Tony ducks his head down to hide the way the corners of his mouth twitch up. “No thanks. My dentist would kill me.”

“That’s what May says,” Peter responds, nodding seriously before taking another massive bite of the sticky fruit. He unzips his backpack one-handed and pulls out a textbook. As he crunches loudly, Tony turns his head away, rolling his eyes with a fond smile.

The next Friday, Peter arrives when Tony is in a meeting, and when he goes down to the lab he finds him sitting on a stool, working on a math problem and humming along loudly to whatever music is blasting out of his headphones. Tony knows he’s aware of him coming in– his spidey-sense is scary good, and even with headphones on his enhanced hearing can pick up anything– but Peter doesn’t acknowledge him, instead tapping away at his calculator and twirling a mechanical pencil in his left hand.

It’s because Peter’s so seemingly distracted that Tony lets himself fully react when he sees what’s sitting on the lab table between his and Peter’s work stations, and why Peter catches him off guard when he says, “Happy fall, Mr. Stark!”

Peter’s beaming at him, and Tony finds himself mirroring the action without hesitation. He looks at the pair of candy apples sitting on the table and shakes his head at the warm feeling in his chest.

“Happy fall, kid.”

WAHAHAH 🎃 HAPPY HALLOWEENIES ��

adhsbbaisdiba I wanted to write something on the thoughtful and reflective side. Less dialogue and events, and more letting the imagery illustrate the character’s inner thoughts and feelings, you know? Unfortunately, I was a bit short on time... I hope this ficlet doesn’t feel too rushed 😅

The fire cast a magic spell on him.

***NOTE: Please be warned that this piece is being released prior to the full event in which he appears, so Rollo may be characterized differently in this writing than in canon.***

Trick or Treat.

Rollo had a fondness for fire--but perhaps it was just as accurate to say that fire, too, had a fondness for him.

The moment he entered his office, he was flooded with the warmth emulating from the fireplace at the far wall. His face and fingers were still chilled from the brisk autumn air, cheeks left ruddy from the whirlwind of planning and preparations for the upcoming symposium. The fire welcomed him home like an old friend, running its heat along his coldly neutral expression, melting away his exhaustion as he swept in.

He was flanked by his vice president and the student council’s aide, both up to their necks in documents. They alternated with one another perfectly, Rollo nodding along as each rattled off their respective report.

“The tailor shop has made significant progress on the designs for the guests’ outfits,” began the vice president.

“The caterer called earlier to confirm the menu and the headcount,” the aide chimed in.

“They will be completed in a few weeks, just in time for our event. I’ll arrange for someone to fetch our order in that time. Or would you feel better if we personally picked them up?”

“They’ve approved our request for vegetarian and gluten-free options to be served, at an additional fee. What do you think? Do we have the funds to cover it, or should we contact the caterer to renegotiate?”

Rollo lifted a hand, immediately silencing the duo.

His vice president and aide exchanged knowing glances.

“Of course, sir. We’ll leave you to it,” they said in unison, bowing their heads in deference before retreating.

The door slammed shut behind them, caging Rollo in with the roaring blaze of the kindling. A familiar scene, and an even more familiar feeling.

The sanctity of his hour of prayer.

He expelled a deep breath as he approached the fireplace, slowly lacing his fingers together as the leaping embers reached for him. Rollo whispered the words of an ancient language, casting them into the waiting inferno as an offering.

“Of my virtue, I am justly proud.”

Shadows lengthened across his face as he peered, transfixed, into the gleefully rising flames.

They were wild and free and alive, lashing the air with quick and graceful movements, the space around it warping into a hot blur. It was almost as though the fire was dancing, its sparks erasing everything irrelevant in its path.

He did not shudder or sidle away.

Like a moth to a flame, he was hypnotized and drawn to it. The fire, a secret spell, and its sparks, the traces of its magic.

The gentle, lethal beauty of it...

Enticing, entrancing, enchanting.

The warmth happily embraced him, and he sighed, leaning into its molten touch.

A weight in Rollo’s chest receded as he let himself fall.

Deeper, deeper, and yet deeper still, the fire washing over him and rendering his skin to ash, scattered to the world by the slightest breeze. Bathed in the fires of rebirth, submerged in his own fantasy, it was his one moment of solace, his salvation, from the demands of the world.

His weary soul, cleansed. His resolve, forged again in the raging blaze.

Rollo’s expression was the same, but his dark eyes had ignited, now smoldering.

A flower set aflame.

The Bell tolled in the distance, its mellow ring reverberating through the building, through Rollo’s body and to his core. In the quiet that followed, his resolution was deafening.

“Just you wait... Malleus Draconia!”

Pandora Hearts Month is an event that celebrates Pandora Hearts. Vanitas no Carte Month is a new event that celebrates Vanitas no Carte/The Case Study of Vanitas in all its forms (both manga and anime fans welcome!). Every week will celebrate a different character grouping. You can create edits, fanart, drabbles, fanfictions, amvs and mms!

Pandora Hearts Month 2022 (REDO) Prompts!

Hello all!

I have recently learned that the @phmonth2022 blog is experiencing some technical difficulties—and has for longer, and a greater extent, than I realized. I don't get notifications properly, I don't get notified at all if people tag the blog, my posts don't show up in site's tags, and it seems you have to click on the blog itself to see any of its posts.

It seems as though a number of people who wanted to participate in Phmonth22 in May/June...never saw the posts about it.

This means that we will now be doing a redo of Pandora Hearts Month 2022!

It will have the same exact prompts as before, allowing people who didn't see it before—and anyone who otherwise didn’t get the chance before—to participate now! It will occur at the same time as The Case Study of Vanitas Month 2022! (Check here for those prompts!)

Because of the phmonth2022 blog's issues, I am hosting it here on my ph (and vnc) sideblog @this-idiots-left-eye. I will reblog my posts on the @phmonth2022 blog, as well as my main blog @i-prefer-the-term-antihero but I will make the initial posts here.

When do sign-ups begin?

July 1st, 2022

When do sign-ups close?

December 2022 (really) (2022 signups are now closed; 2023 signups open on Jan. 1st)

What is the deadline for this 2022 bingo half-round?

There are no deadlines. Complete a bingo line anywhere on your card, submit a master list to the bingo mod fam, and get your badge for whatever round you got that card from whenever you complete it. We do ask that you not signup for new rounds until you’ve at least completed one bingo line on your card from the previous round. New bingo cards will not be created for anyone who hasn’t at least completed a single bingo line of prompts on the last card(s) they were issued by the current Darcy Bingo mod fam. (Which means everyone begins with a fresh slate in 2022.)

How long do I have to work on my card during this round?

You have six months before the next round begins this time. This is a half-round with multiple mini bingo cards.

The next full bingo round after this begins on January 1st, 2023. However, there are no deadlines for 2022 or future rounds, so your only time limitation is the one you set for yourself. It’s an excellent challenge in self-discipline. *cackles madly*

Do I need a tumblr account and a Discord account and an Archive account to participate in this bingo?

You do not need all three. You can participate with either a tumblr account or an Archive account. Discord is entirely optional. However, not joining the Darcy Lewis Bingo Discord server does mean you’ll be missing out on lots of fun bingo side games and ways to keep your bingo card exciting and dynamic throughout each round.

Discord bingo parties will be held occasionally throughout each round, giving you lots of opportunities to swap out prompts for adoptables, to trade with other bingo party participants, and to play writing and creative games to earn tokens for wild cards and reverse cards to use to alter how the prompts on your bingo card can be used throughout the round.

The DL Bingo Discord will also be hosting a weekly drabble writing challenge and a mini moodboard challenge, beginning Sunday, July 3rd, to give bingo participants even more opportunities to earn tokens toward bingo prompt swaps (and occasionally an outright swap). Our goal is to build a community around this event and to inspire you to create. We’d like to make that as accessible and enjoyable as possible.

What are the prompt fill requirements for this bingo?

See the rules page for a complete listing of all submission requirements for bingo fills.

As for the individual bingo card themes for this round, each theme has a slightly different set of expectations:

Dr. Darcy Lewis: these creation fills should prominently feature the MCU character, Darcy Lewis, in some form

Multiverse Madness, Create All the Darcys: these creation fills should prominently feature Darcy Lewis in a non-canon scenario, such as alternate universes, alternate timelines, or alternate possible Darcys (firefighter!AU, witch!Darcy, coffeeshop AU, nobody dies, etc.)

Darcy Lewis, Queen of Halloween: these creation fills should prominently feature Darcy Lewis in suspenseful, mysterious, spooky, creepy, dark-themed, Halloweeny, or otherwise monstrous scenarios

Darcy Lewis is Coming to Town: these creation fills should prominently feature Darcy Lewis in winter or winter holiday-related scenarios (all winter holidays are welcome, but prompts will be Christmas-focused unless requested otherwise by you in your short answer on the sign-up form)

If I get a firefighter AU prompt on my Dr. Darcy Lewis bingo card, does that mean I have to write Darcy as a firefighter?

Nope! How you interpret prompts is entirely up to you! Prompts are meant to inspire, never to stifle your creativity. If you can explain how the prompt inspired the creation you’re submitting for that prompt if asked, that’s good enough for us. We will repeat: we are not your mom. You do you, boo!

You mentioned on the sign-up form that there won’t be any explicit prompts assigned on bingo cards—does that mean explicit fic is not allowed for prompt fills, either?

Not at all. How you fill your prompts is entirely up to you. Entirely. HOWEVER, this means you are responsible for accurately tagging your explicit fill within an inch of its life—any explicit fill that you submit in either the Darcy Bingo Discord server (in the appropriate server channel) or on AO3 in the new Darcy Bingo Collection, and you are responsible for following the TOS of both of those sites.

The Darcy Bingo mod fam reserves the right to remove from the server or the collection any undertagged explicit fic that we feel doesn’t meet the most basic fandom tagging courtesies for explicit work of that nature until it is tagged appropriately. All we ask is that you be cognizant as a digital citizen that not everyone on the internet wants to read your love triangle-turned-surprise-orgy and tag it like your own too-curious-for-her-own-good mom might accidentally find it on the internet and click it if it’s not tagged appropriately.

Live well, laugh often, tag the hell out of everything.

What kind of prompts can I expect on my card(s) when I sign up?

You’ll have lots of opportunities on the sign-up form to tell us what ratings, genres, and types of fandom content you consume and create to help us personalize your bingo card prompts.

If there are any prompts you absolutely know you cannot write, you’ll have an opportunity to swap up to 3 prompts in the two weeks after you receive your bingo card(s).

If there are even more prompts that you think you might need to swap, no worries! You’ll have lots of opportunities to swap out prompts during our Discord bingo parties. You are never stuck with a static bingo card in this fandom challenge event.

That said, hanging onto a few popular prompts you wouldn’t mind trading away later or swapping out for an adoptable might not be a bad idea. You have lots of options for curating your own card even after we do our best to try to pick prompts you’ll enjoy.
