Honest Opinion - Gullinbursti Frodi

Overall score (character, not looks): 10/10

What can I say, i really loved Frodi. He’s one of my favorite God Warriors of this series, and for good reasons.  Above everything, he is a really well-developed character, for only appearing in this spin-off, and by now I think you know how much I enjoy characters with tridimensional personalities. I don’t particularly like how arrogant he ca get, but at the end of the day he’s really just a proud warrior with rights to be so. 

As all the other God Warriors, Frodi starts off at this man determined to fight the Gold Saints, and I thoroughly enjoyed his rivalry - let’s call it that - between him and Aiolia, but he also realizes that they’re being deceived.  He’s not the only one to do so, this is obvious, but since I’m talking about him it’s definitely worth mentioning. 

His fight against Aiolia in the Yggdrasil was nothing short than amazing, but nothing compares to his reaction to Lyfia “dying”. Nothing compares to the scene where Frodi rebelled against his companions and understood Andreas was plotting something. 

My admiration for this character became evident when Frodi, despite the sort of bad blood between them, recognized Aiolia worthy of donning the Odin Robe. That’s an incredible growth, in such a small amount of time, and I respect that.  Also, can we address his loyalty? As soon as he understood what was actually going on, he didn’t wait a singe second before leaping into action to protect Lyfia, despite the fact that he had been faithful to Andreas up until he found out the truth. 

Lastly, I want to say that i love how close Frodi is to Lyfia. It wasn’t something completely random ** coff coff Aiolia and Lyfia coff coff **, but something actually believable. 

Admittedly, at first he wasn’t one of my favorites. The first time I watched Soul of Gold didn’t leave me with a strong liking for this character. By the time of my re-watch, after analyzing Frodi a bit more, I can confidently say he’s amazing.

Notice

I won’t be posting for a while, maybe a week or so. I need a break from everything. 

There’s too many things going on in my life and I can’t focus on anything. University takes up to 12 hours of my day, I’m worried sick for my friends who live in areas affected by covid-19, I’m stressed and anxious about the whole situation here in Italy, and I’m having mental health issues because my family is a nightmare to live with. 

This blog helps me a lot, talking to you all helps me a lot, but after an entire day of forced studying I’m too tired to even enjoy my - very few - minutes on here. I had to give up so much stuff that I love to keep studying for this god forsaken university, and what’s left of my free time is awful because I constantly hear screaming against me in the background. 

I know there’s not many people who actually care about this blog. I know I’m a little drop of water in the immense ocean that’s the internet.  But I still want to be clear for those few people that follow me. I always try to post something, even when I’m literally drowning in work, but this time I need a break. I don’t want to be away from here, this is my safe space and I don’t want to leave for more that a week, but I’m just so overwhelmed by everything that I need to shut down for a second. 

If you want to ask something, my inbox will be open. I normally read what you ask, even when I don’t have time to post anything, so I can have an answer ready for you when I come back. This time I won’t be reading anything until I come back.  So please, if you ask, be patient for an answer. 

I will be back with the Honest Opinions, and I will be back with my usual bullshit as soon as I can. Hopefully just seven days.  I’ll be here for Milo’s birthday. In the meantime, I’m sorry. I know I’m a disappointment, at this point.

Anyhow! Frodi x Lyfia!

1.Who is more nervous on their first date?

Both of them, if it wasn’t for wing-man and lad,y Sigmund and Freya, they probably would never have had the first date! It was a simple date too, a walk and dinner at one of the local pubs.

2. Who can’t stop giggling when their partner kisses them all over their face?

Both, more so Frodi who can’t hide his emotions too well when he thinks no one is watching. Lyfia doesn’t giggle nearly as much as him.

3.Who accidentally wears the other’s hat one day?

Lyfia, who tried on Frodi’s armor helm while he was away momentarily. To add to it she ‘jokingly’ acted like a God Warrior until he walked in and saw, resulting them both getting embarrassed and blushing.

4.Who is in love with the other person’s laugh?

Both, for various reasons. Frodi doesn’t laugh often but his is very rich and warm. Lyfia’s laugh starts as a short giggle and is very light.

5.Who covers the other person with a blanket when they fall asleep somewhere other than their bed?

Lyfia, when she checks on Frodi and sees him asleep at his desk doing paperwork. She also neatly organizes his work for when he wakes up.

6.Who cracks open their beverage before handing it to their partner?

Frodi, even when Lyfia says she can handle it. Sometimes though, its stubborn and Lyfia ends up opening both of their drinks.

7.What dance moves do they break out on the dance floor together?

The awkward kind, but Frodi knows the steps to several dances and teaches Lyfia gladly.

8.What would be their dream vacation?

Somewhere warm, but not too hot. Particularly somewhere at least somewhat close to home and only for a few days.

9.If they tried to do the yoga couple’s challenge, how would they do?

They’d fail but have a ton of fun and laughs doing it. Lots of teasing and jokes too.

10.Where do they spend most of their time together?

Where ever they can some time and space together, without duties and chores needing to be done. Sometimes its in the gardens, sometimes its in the kitchens or library.

11.Who runs their thumb over the other person’s skin to comfort them?

Lyfia, she always knows or sees when Frodi’s stressed regarding something. She also talks to him during this and tries to get him to relax some.

12.Who accidentally falls asleep on the other?

Both, most of the time Lyfia falls asleep on Frodi, since Frodi is aware he’s much heavier.

13.Who would run a bath for the other person?

Both, but this tends to be Lyfia after Frodi returns with patrol or missions.

14. What would their wedding look like?

Since Frodi comes from a noble family and Lyfia is the new priestess of Odin, it became a lot fancier than they intended it to be but still had say in how it goes. Most of the guests were village leaders, palace staff and Frodi’s household, along with Hilda being the one who wed them.

15. Who would try to do something artsy for their partner and just before they were going to throw it out because they thought it sucked, their partner comes in and loves the art piece?

Frodi, who tried to make a carving for Lyfia of several animals that didn’t quite come out as he planned them too. She loved them none the less and kept them in a box in her room.
