It was quiet in her apartment. Empty with just her to keep it company. The mug of jasmine tea warmed her hands as she looked out at the sky, the stars twinkling against the darkness. The was a slight breeze and she took in the fresh nighttime air.
“Does it bother you? That he doesn’t show the same affection towards you?” Lucy had asked earlier that day in the guild hall.
The question took Juvia by surprise but in all honesty, she wasn’t too shocked that it had been thought about. She wasn’t blind to the looks and the whispers that her relationship brought. Even the Sorcerer Magazine had an article about “one sided love” and she could pin point the way her heart dropped when she read the title.
But even with those negative emotions or people not understanding, it meant nothing as he would hold her close in the shadows or when they were alone. Not every story is crystal clear and she felt more love in the silence than out in the open.
She preferred it that way.
“No, it doesn’t bother Juvia one bit.” She answered honestly.
The girls gave her a look of confusion as she simply drank her drink.
“Gray-sama has watched countless people die. The ones he truly loved are all gone and now there is a fear of letting others in. Juvia respects that and doesn’t demand him to show affection in the way Juvia chooses.”
“Oh.” They all fell silent and that was the end of that.
She took a sip of her tea and smiled up at the stars. She had to admit to herself that in the beginning, when she had first met him, it did hurt slightly. When she would go out of her way to do something sweet for him or hold his hand and he would pull away. She once believed that he had no intention of loving her and it took a few moments to let that reality sink in and her accepting it, but after a long conversation and him on his knees asking her to not leave, she learned that his heart wasn't stray from hers.
It was in the moment, where she watched him fall to his knees, snow piling on each side as he weeped at his fathers grave. She couldn’t explain the look on his face as he said goodbye to one of the only people he had left, one he already believed was gone. Perhaps she was lucky that she hadn’t known the people who loved her. Maybe it hurt less.
He looked at her with tears in his eyes, pure heartbreak was clear and she wanted to do nothing more than hold him close to her and try to whisper that it would be okay. But she didn’t. Instead she stood still and let her own tears gather, her own heart beginning to feel its own cracks forming and she thought she had no right to even be in his presence anymore.
But he took her hand. His heart heavy as he cried against her and asked her not to leave him. Her entire life had been spent with people yelling at her to leave, to take her stormy skies somewhere new and yet for the first time, she was asked to stay.
And that's why it was so hard for them. They were opposites even when their magic was two sides of the same coin. Every time he wanted some one to stay, they would leave and as for her, she was forced to go when she didn’t want to.
“Juvia will never leave your side.” She whispered to him. It was a promise she even tried to give herself. How can she expect him to open his heart when he thinks she will leave? it wasn’t fair.
But he wasn’t blind either.
The stars continued to shine as the memories flooded by and she closed her eyes for a brief moment as the cup now sat empty on her railing.
“Beautiful night huh?” He said and she opened her eyes to see Gray leaning against the railing, that smug smile on his face that she adored so much.
She smiled as he looked around to make sure no one saw him sneaking in to her apartment.
“Juvia was just thinking.” She said and he took a step forward before kissing her softly. He never failed to make her heart swoon and her knees weak.
“Thinking of what?”
“You.” She smiled against his lips and his hand trailed lightly against her thigh.
“When aren’t you thinking of me.” He winked and she gave a playful eye roll. “Penny for your thoughts?”
She signed and leaned against the railing as he stood behind her and hugged her, his chin resting on her shoulder.
“They don’t think Gray-sama treats Juvia the same.”
“Oh.”
“But Juvia thinks they are silly. They don’t know everything.” She felt his arms squeeze tighten around her. “Juvia would never want you to feel like Gray-Sama doesn’t do enough, you always do.” She tilited her head to kiss his cheek.
He stood quietly. The stars still glowing above. “You love so quickly and I’m envious of it.”
“Juvia doesn’t believe that to be true.” She said quickly. “Perhaps you my dear were different but Juvia hasn’t loved anyone before and Juvia is afraid that if she doesn’t show her love now, it might go forever.”
“I’m sorry you fear that. But I understand.”
“Now thag Juvia has found Fairy Tail, she is more open to trust and allowing people to be by her side. Thankful that she has someone to love.” She squeezes his hand before turning in his arms and staring at him.
“Have I ever told you how pretty your eyes are?” He asked and the pink spread across her face.
She cupped his cheek and her smile was soft and delicate. “Juvia knows the challenges we each face when it comes to emotions. No matter what anyone says or thinks, her heart belongs to you in every way. No matter how big or small the gesture, she will love you until the end of time.”
“Then it’s a good thing I plan on loving you forever.”
He leaned down and captured her lips. Like the stars above, their love glowed bright and shined across the sky even if from afar it seemed like a dot against a sea of dark.
——
I hope you all enjoyed!! Sorry it’s short

Say It Again
Pairing: Gruvia (Gray Fullbuster & Juvia Lockser)
Fandom: Fairy Tail
Genre: Romance
Word Count: 1718 words

They had to find a way to fit in the rundown inn, the only one big enough to accommodate all of them in the tiny town of Drameel. With the whole guild unexpectedly wounding up in the continent of Guiltina, they had to share beds if they wanted everyone to get a good night's sleep.
Natsu had already settled on Lucy's bed, despite the latter's complaints about not granting him permission to sleep there. In fact, she was already tucking herself beneath the covers beside him. Across them were Mira and Lisanna sharing another double bed, while Elfman -- with his sheer size -- had to have a bed of his own, no questions asked. Gajeel and Levy would have preferred a room of their own, but they contented themselves with the one at the corner. And before Gray could even ask, Erza had already hopped onto Wendy's bed, but not before shoving him a little towards the double bed right beside theirs, where a certain water mage was smoothing the sheets.
And that's how Gray ended up clutching a pillow to his bare chest, waiting for Juvia to finish plopping the mattress and dusting off the blanket.
"The bed's ready, Gray-sama!" she happily exclaimed as she tucked herself into the blanket, squeezing to the double bed's right side to give Gray some space.
"Are you sure you're okay with this, Juvia?" Gray asked one more time, though his tired body was longing to lie down on the soft mattress and drift off to dreamland. The thought of sleeping beside the beautiful blunette didn't seem half-bad, either.
"Of course, Gray-sama. Juvia is more than happy to sleep with you!" she happily exclaimed, hearts forming in her eyes.
Gray's ears turned crimson. "We're not sleeping together! We're just sharing a bed, that's all," he said, turning his head away from her. He placed his pillow beside Juvia's and laid down on his side of the bed on top of the blanket; he doesn't really sleep with blankets on.
"Whatever you say, Gray-sama," Juvia teased, lightly poking his bicep and giggling.
He heard a click and the room went dark, with nothing but the light from the moon streaming in from the windows beside Lucy's bed. There was a small, "Goodnight!" from Mirajane, and everything went silent except for Natsu and Elfman's snores.
Gray's body felt so tired, but somehow his mind couldn't get to sleep -- not when he was so close to Juvia he could practically hear her breathe. Even though they weren't touching, Gray could feel the nerves on his left arm tingle, painfully conscious of the warm, soft body just a few inches away.
And then he heard a whisper. "Gray-sama?"
Gray turned his head towards Juvia and found himself looking at her navy blue orbs, the faint moonlight gently illuminating her face. Their faces were so close together, he could feel Juvia's breath against his cheeks.
"Juvia wants to thank you for protecting her from Metro," she whispered, a small smile gracing her lips.
He was glad his face was turned away from the window so Juvia could only make out his silhouette. Otherwise, she would have seen the blush creeping on his face and the small smile that tugged his lips just a tiny bit.
"It's no big deal," Gray whispered back. When it came to Juvia, he knew that he would move heaven and earth to keep her safe.
Juvia turned her body to face him completely, making the hairs on his arm prickle once again. But instead of looking at him, she bowed her head, as if avoiding his gaze. He could barely make out what she said next in a low voice.
"Juvia knows Gray-sama probably doesn't want to talk about this, but Juvia really wants to hear it again. Even for just one time."
He frowned. "Hear what?"
She looked up at him, her big beautiful eyes locking with his. "What you said a while ago when you were trying to save Juvia." Even in the darkness, he could see the faint red stain on her pale cheeks. "That Juvia is y-your, your..." she trailed off, but there was an expectant look in her eyes.
Damn it, Gray cursed himself. He really didn't know what came over him during the fight that he had to utter those cheesy words.
Not that they weren't true, of course. Since their fight with Invel, Gray had known that there was nothing in this world that he wouldn't do to protect Juvia. Way before that, his body had been acting of its own accord to keep her safe, even if he didn't fully understand it.
It was just that he wouldn't be caught dead saying those words right in front of Juvia, not when he was not yet ready to confess to her. After all, he joined this quest to become stronger for her, and right now, he was not yet that man. He still didn't deserve her.
"Gray-sama? Please?"
But every moment trying to suppress his feelings had been a struggle, Gray had to admit. That was what he realized when he finally admitted to himself that he was in love with her, and boy, was it a huge mistake.
Whenever he was with Juvia, his feelings seemed to want to seep out from every pore of his body and reach out to her. He couldn't control how his eyes would automatically search for her when he entered the guild, or how his body would ever so slightly turn to her when they talk, or how his arm physically ached just by having her near -- and only when Juvia would wrap her arms around his would the ache subside.
Things were easier when she was all the way back in Magnolia, even though he spent most of his free time thinking of her and the many ways she would tackle him to the ground with her big bear hugs while shouting "Gray-samaaa!" in her usual overzealous way.  At least, with so much distance between them, there was no danger of him suddenly blurting out his feelings for her.
But now that Juvia's here -- and so painfully close, goddammit -- it's getting harder and harder for Gray not to just sweep her in his arms and whisper in her ear how she's his power to live. Ugh, I can't believe I said it out loud, he thought as he felt his cheeks warm.
"Goodnight, Gray-Sama. Juvia will sleep now."
He couldn't help but notice the dismay in her voice as she started to shift her body away from him. But before she could do so, he grabbed her shoulders and found himself looking straight at her wide, astonished eyes. She gasped, her lips parting slightly at his sudden movement.
Oh, what the hell, he thought. He took a big gulp.
"You're... You're..."
Damn it, why is this so incredibly hard?
"... You still need that CPR?"
Juvia's brows furrowed. "CPR?"
"Yup. This."
He leaned towards her and captured her lips in a soft kiss. Juvia tensed for a moment before she let herself relax into his embrace.
He had been trying so hard to suppress his feelings for her, and for what? He had already blurted it out a while ago, and even pressed her body against him and told her how relieved he was that she was safe.
Surely she knew, and there should be no doubt now, as his lips slowly caressed hers, one of his hands sliding from her shoulders to the crook of her neck and up her jaw, tilting her head slightly upwards so he can press his mouth just a little bit harder on her soft, plump lips.
After some time, Gray slowly pulled away, watching Juvia as she gently fluttered her eyelids open as if coming out from a daze.
He couldn't help but smile. So beautiful.
"Is that CPR enough to shut you up now?" he whispered.
He could feel Juvia's body tense as she placed her hands on her mouth and suppressed a squeal from escaping. She buried her head into his bare chest, her breathing getting heavier and heavier and syncing with the crazy thumping of his heart. He felt Juvia's body getting warmer, making Gray smirk at the effect he had on her, but also hoping that she wouldn't start boiling like she did earlier.
It took a minute before Juvia was able to calm herself. She lifted her head once again to look at him, and under the light of the moon, he could see her doe eyes, pink cheeks, and slightly mischievous smile gazing back at him.
"Juvia thinks she'll never stop asking Gray-sama to repeat those words if he'd always give her CPR."
Gray chuckled. He fell right into her trap! But he didn't mind it in the slightest, as he'd fallen for her a long time ago -- long before he realized it.
"Well, I guess I have no choice, then."
Juvia smiled, brighter than the moonlight striking her beautiful face, and he felt his heart swell. "Gray-sama?"
"Yes?"
"Say it again to Juvia, please."
Without a word, Gray leaned down and kissed Juvia again, this time a bit deeper. He could feel her arms sliding over his shoulders as her hands made their way to his hair, her fingers brushing against his scalp. His hands found the small of her back and he pressed her closer to him, both of them careful not to make a sound.
He didn't know how long they stayed like that, bodies pressed against each other, mouths tied in a slow and passionate lip lock. When they finally went up for air, Gray pressed his forehead against hers and gave her another quick peck.
Gray slipped his other arm under Juvia so she could rest her head against his chest. One of her arms wrapped around his torso, while the other curled in front of her, her open palm resting on his chest.
Gray always liked lying on his cold bed, sprawled without blankets with nothing but his boxers on. But tonight, he didn't mind the warm, soft body clinging to him, the smell of petrichor filling his senses and lulling him to sleep.
He could definitely get used to this.

Author’s Note: Here’s my contribution to Gruvia Day 2020! As you can see, this is my first Tumblr post (yes, I made one just to follow Gruvia content), and my first fanfic after a loooooong time.
I’m new to the Fairy Tail and Gruvia fandom, thanks to the pandemic that kept me stuck at home for months. I’ve been reading lots of Gruvia fanfics to cope and keep my sanity these past few months.
Feel free to send me feedback because it’s been years since I last wrote fiction. For some reason, Gruvia summoned my muse back. :)

Dance The Night Away
Happy Gruvia Day 2020! 💓
This fic is dedicated to my favorite couple on their special day! I got inspired by these matching Gruvia covers so i had to get to work and start writing 🥰
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Preparing himself for the evening, Gray stood by the mirror, making finishing touches to his outfit, he adjusted his black bow tie so it wouldn’t be oblique.
Tonight was not going to be like any other for Fairy Tail, no. Because in honor of Queen Hisui’s birthday, she was hosting a ball at the royal palace in Crocus and Fairy Tail had gotten an invitation as her majesty’s honorable guests.
Gray was never really a big fan of big and fancy parties, but he guessed it wasn’t too bad to appear on special occasions only. At least he got to see and spend more time with a particular water mage.
The sudden thought of Juvia made Gray’s cheeks flush red, redder than Erza’s scarlet hair.  He started thinking about things like what she would wear tonight. A beautiful smile, that was Gray certain of. Once the blunette was on his mind, he was doomed and could not stop thinking about her. Oh who was he kidding, it was game over for him from the beginning. Because she always appeared on his mind. Especially after the day she almost… Gray lightly slapped himself on the cheeks to shake the awful memory from his thoughts. No sad thoughts tonight!
When Gray was all dressed up in his big boy fancy pantsy clothes and ready to go, he headed downstairs to the hotel lobby to wait for his guild mates. After a few minutes of waiting, that seemed like hours for Gray, all the mages of Fairy Tail had gathered but when everyone started walking outside Gray noticed someone was missing. Someone really important.
‘’Hey Natsu, have you seen Juvia?’’ Gray asked his best friend, his eyes searching for the brunette in the room. He wasn't aware of the smirk that appeared on Natsu’s lips after getting the question.
‘’Oh, Lucy and Juvia weren’t ready yet, so they let me know that they will join us later’’ Natsu shrugged. ‘’Girls am I right?’’’’ He shook his head, not understanding why girls always took so long to get ready.
Gray let out a sigh. If he was completely honest, he couldn’t help but be a little upset about that. Of course he knew, they would see each other eventually but somehow… he just didn’t want to wait.
He looked back one last time but when she still hadn’t shown up, he caught up with Natsu and his other guild mates.
___
At the palace, Gray was bored. He had already tried anything and everything to get to get the time pass and for her to arrive faster but it didn’t help at all, so of course he had gotten very impatient. Where the hell was his woman?
‘’Lucy!’’ Gray heard Natsu call the celestial mage’s name.
Lucy? Then that had to mean…
Gray had never turned around so fast in his life. And at that moment, when Gray saw her, he swore he forgot how to breathe. And who else had that effect on him, except for one person?
There stood Juvia, on top of the imperial staircase, in a long light blue butterfly embellished ballgown with a plunging neckline which revealed her big but beautiful breasts. She really looked like an angel sent from the heaven’s so she was most certainly forgiven for keeping him waiting all this time.
Gray was so taken aback by Juvia’s beauty that it took him a few moments to realize that their eyes were glued to each other. They might not have stood close to each other, but Gray could clearly see her big smile she gave him. She had the most beautiful smile and she could light up the whole world with it. Most important, she lit up his world.
When Juvia had walked down the stairs and reached the floor, Gray was confused as to why she broke eye contact and didn’t walk up to him. Did he do something? Did he hurt her? Did she hate him? Was she no longer in love with him? Had she already given up on him?
All these bad thoughts started to pop up in his mind and they scared the crap out of him. He was supposed to get stronger for her so he could always protect her and be by her side. Was he really too late?
___
An hour had passed and Gray was getting really worried at this point. To think his Juvia hadn’t talked to her Gray-Sama even after that long, was so not like her at all and he hated it. But what about him? Why couldn’t he be the one to do it for once? Thank goodness that Erza approach him and interrupted Gray from his crazy thoughts.
‘’Gray’’
‘’I didn’t do anything!’’ Gray jumped, obviously scared because he thought Erza was going to give him a piece of her mind for whatever he had done.
‘’Go talk to her’’
‘’H-huh?!’’
‘’Juvia. Go talk to her’’
‘’W-what are you saying-’’
‘’Now’’ And with that, she was already gone and joined Jellal on the dance floor.
It wasn’t much but somehow those very few words she had said to him had given him a big confident boost. He didn’t know why nor how but it was like suddenly, his whole body was filled with courage.  Plus it was Erza so there was no way he would disobey her or else he knew, she would have his head.
Gray looked outside, towards the sakura garden and he found Juvia standing there all by herself. He was going to make her company and he was going to do it now.
He took a deep breath before making his way up to her.
‘’Hey’’
The water mage turned around and looked a bit surprised by his sudden appearance.
‘’Oh, Good evening, Gray-Sama!’’ She replied with a soft smile and went back to looking at the the sakura trees with a admiration.  After a little silence Juvia spoke again.
‘’The sakura trees weren’t here the last time we were here. Aren’t they beautiful?’’
‘’Yeah… you are’’ That had taken him all the courage that was inside him but he really meant it so he didn’t regret saying it. He wanted her to know. He wanted her to know everything.
‘’Gray-Sama?’’ She looked at him as a question mark like she didn’t understand what he had just said.
‘’Juvia. I said you’re beautiful’’ He said again, reassuring her that she had indeed heard him correctly. But he couldn’t look straight into her big ocean orbs that time. ‘’So I was wondering if maybe… you would like to have this dance?’’ He extended his hand out for her to accept, his other hand was on the back of his head. But when she didn’t respond as fast as Gray thought and hoped she would, he had to look at her to see if everything was okay.
All of a sudden, sakura petals were falling from the trees, making Juvia’s cheeks match them. Holding her hands up to her chest, Juvia's face lit up. Looked like Gray didn’t have to worry, after all.
‘’Juvia thought you’d never ask, Gray-Sama’’ She let out a little giggle as she accepted his hand, as he then placed a small peck on the back of it and led her to the dance floor.
When they reached the dance floor, Juvia put her hand on Gray’s shoulder and Gray put his on her waist. Their other hand were still holding each other, not letting go. They started swinging slowly, following the playing music, from the royal orchestra.
They stayed in silence, no one saying a word but their eyes never left each other so it really made up for the none small talk. After the song ended Gray didn’t expect for Juvia let go of him so soon. She looked at him and made a small curtsy.
‘’Thank you so much for dancing with me, Gray-Sama’’ She thanked him and started exiting the dance floor but she didn't get far until she felt a pair of strong arms around her.
‘’G-Gray-Sama?!’’
‘’Just…just a little longer’’ He had her in a tight, yet gentle embrace and he was not planning on letting her go.
‘’Juvia is so happy, Gray-Sama’’ She said as she hugged him back lovingly.
‘’Me too’’
A little longer turned out to be the whole night.

Perfect
Gruvia Day 2020
Masterlist
Warnings: Briefly implied smut. But there is nothing smutty in this. Just kissing.
Summary: After a day of training with Storm Gray comes home and reflects on how perfect Juvia is with their family.
-----------------
“Sorry I messed up during training dad.” Storm says, staring at the ground as he and Gray walk back to their house.
“It’s okay, it’s not entirely your fault. Ice magic is difficult to master. It’s a tough, cold, and unforgiving material.” Gray tells his son.
“Sounds just like you dad.” Storm says, making his father growl at him before opening the door to the house.
As soon as the door opens and the smell of dinner enters Gray’s nostrils, all of his anger disappears and he looks up to see Juvia in the kitchen with their 6 month old daughter on her hip before placing her in a high-chair and turning back to the meal on the stove. But once Juvia notices her husband and son’s return she cheerily rushes over to them.
“Gray-sama and Storm darling, you’re both home just in time for-oh my!” Juvia exclaims when she sees the cut on her son’s face that was caused by a rogue shard of ice.
“What happened to Juvia’s little darling?” Juvia asks, kneeling in front of her son and analyzing his face.
“It was just a training incident.” Storm says and tries to yank his face out of his mother’s grip.
Gray could feel the guilt building up in his throat.
“I’m sorry I let our son get hurt.” Gray says and looks away from Juvia, unable to meet her eyes.
Juvia simply sighs and shakes her head before standing up and placing her hand over Gray’s heart.
“Stop being so dramatic Gray-sama.” She says and gives him a gentle kiss on the cheek. “It’s just a little cut. Nothing that Juvia can’t fix.”
Her kiss broke through his pouting and makes him blush. He watches her go over to the table and fight with Storm to inspect the cut on his face.
“It doesn’t hurt that badly mom.” Storm groans and tries to pull his face out of Juvia’s grasp.
“It might not now but it could get infected in a day or two so Juvia needs to clean it now.” Juvia says and takes a bottle of disinfectant out of the cabinet and dampens a cotton ball with it.
Storm tries to move his face away but one stern look from Juvia and he caves with a pout and lets her clean his cut before covering it with a bandage and a kiss to his cheek.
Their daughter Raina starts to cry in her high-chair and hits the tray attached to the chair. Juvia turns to her and kisses her cheek and strokes her hair to calm her crying.
“Juvia knows you’re hungry darling. Here’s your baby food.” Juvia says.
Gray watches his wife as she opens up the jar of baby food and empties it into their daughter’s bowl before giving it to her to eat. At the same time, Storm was scratching at his band-aid and without even looking Juvia swats his hand away. Then a timer dings.
“Dinner’s ready.” Juvia announces and places the tray on the table which was already set for dinner.
Juvia notices Gray staring at her and blushes.
“Why is Gray-sama staring at Juvia?” She asks and Gray looks away from her and blushes.
“No reason. I wasn’t staring.” Gray lies and turns away to hide his blush.
Juvia smiles at the ground and takes her seat at the table. She’d been with him long enough to know that it was definitely something, but there was no way Gray was going to say anything. Especially not in front of the children.
“Alright then. Come have a seat dear and we can eat.” Juvia says cheerfully and Gray sits down to dinner with his family.
———————
Dinner was excellent as always. Juvia was an amazing cook. She knew how to make all of Gray’s favorites. A fact he was incredibly guilty about since he couldn’t cook much at all.
But it wasn’t just that that had him staring at his wife as she tucks their children in for bed.
“Goodnight Juvia’s little snowflake.” Juvia says and gives her son a big kiss on the cheek that makes him attempt to squirm out of her grip before moving over to her daughter’s crib.
“And goodnight Juvia’s little droplet.” Juvia says and kisses their daughter’s head.
Gray steps into the room and simply says goodnight to both of them while ruffling their hair before following his wife to the bedroom.
She was in their bathroom so he went and laid down on the bed and he smiled at her when she came out. It had been a long day for both of them with him out training with Storm and her taking care of things at home so he expected her to want to go straight to sleep.
But instead, she crawls on top of him and straddles his lap as she begins to kiss him.
“Juvia.” He breathes once she releases his lips. “I thought you’d be too tired to do this.”
Juvia giggles and shakes her head.
“No. Juvia made sure to save enough energy to take care of Gray-sama too tonight.” Juvia says and leans in to kiss him again but he pulls back.
“How are you so amazing?” He asks her.
“You think Juvia is amazing?” Juvia blushes.
“Yes! How could I not. You do so much for our family so perfectly. Everything you make tastes so great and you’re always prepared for everything and you’re such a great mother and even after a long day you still have enough energy for me in bed. I don’t know how you do it but...I know I probably don’t deserve it. You shouldn’t be doing so much. I should be doing more so you don’t have to do so much.” Gray explains.
Juvia rolls her eyes and smiles.
“Gray-sama you have nothing to worry about. Juvia is happy to do all of these things for her family. You and our children mean everything to Juvia. She is living her dream by being your wife and a mother to our children. So Juvia wants to be her best for all of you. And she knows that you are doing your best too. You work hard for us as well. Since Raina was born you take the  longer and more difficult jobs so Juvia can stay with the children. And whenever Juvia needs help around the house you help her. Our children love you too and they know you love them. You just show it a different way than Juvia.” Juvia explains and Gray cups her cheek.
“You really are too perfect for me.” Gray says.
“And you are too perfect for Juvia. We both got lucky.” Juvia explains.
“Yeah. We really did.” Gray says and leans up to kiss her.
Then they hear crying from down the hall and pull apart.
“Juvia should go take care of that.” She says and starts to move but Gray stops her.
“No. Let me.” Gray says. “You’ve spent all day with Raina. I can calm her down tonight.”
Juvia sits down on the bed and watches Gray leave. They really were perfect together.

Surviving nightmares
It was just another nightmare. Gray was used to them by now. They'd been following him for years already.
The first nightmares started ever since that day when he lost his parents. The day he saw Deliora burn down his home and kill everyone around him. His family, his friends, his neighbors.. There wasn't anyone left. His nightmare was made out of this day, a constant reminder of what he'd seen and felt.
After meeting Ur and Lyon it got easier. The nightmares were still there, but they weren't as constant. Most of the time he tired himself out so much during training that he just dropped dead at the end of the day. He made sure he didn't have any power left, not even for a nightmare. That worked until the day when he met Deliora again. Not only did the encounter remind him of the worst day in his life, it also formed a new nightmare. A new memory that would forever haunt him. The sacrifice his mentor and mother figure Ur made in order to save him.
After this day he'd see them together. His parents and Ur. Everyone he had in his life. Everyone he loved. He didn't think that list could get longer. But boy, was he wrong..
Gray didn't remember the details. But he died. For a minute, his life was over. He was gone. And then he came back. Later he learned that it was because of Ultear that he was still here, alive and well. Because just like her mother, she had sacrificed herself and saved his life.
Ultear was another person that entered his nightmares and he was hoping for her to be the last one. But again, Gray was set up for disappointment. His father, who he thought was dead for so long, decided to make a reappearance in his life. And with that, he opened old scars. Gray wasn't sure it could get worse after. He couldn't be hurt more than this, he suffered through the worst with everything that he's been through.
Gray had never been so wrong and he had to learn that the hard way.
The fight wasn't supposed to go this way. He was supposed to beat that guy and go back to help out his friends. But then there was Juvia and locks and magic. The guy was rambling something about being connected and killing and Gray couldn't focus because this damn lock was messing with his head and Juvia was there and he needed to get her away from her, he needed to save her. But his body didn't seem to register that message because the next thing he was fighting her, punching, kicking, freezing. He couldn't stop and she didn't either and when he finally came up with a solution it was too late. She had stabbed herself. He saw her face, saw her talking to him before they both dropped down, bleeding out and unconscious.
When Gray came back to his senses he had two thoughts. One, he was alive. Two, Juvia wasn't. He saw her next to him on the floor, lying in a pool of her blood, unmoving. And no matter how long he held her, how much he cried and begged for her to wake up, she wouldn't.
Later she would call out to him, tired but alive. And he'd forever be grateful. The scar of her death however would still be there, showing themselves at night when he was at his most vulnerable.
His recent nightmares all surrounded her. A twisted presentation of that day he thought he lost her forever. She always wears a soft expression on her face, looking at him the way she always does, with so much love and adoration, an angelic smile on her face and eyes shining.
And then it would all take a turn. Her smile would turn into a frown, her eyes turning dull. All expressions would leave her face. When she raises a hand, reaching out to him, he'd see the blood. Blood on her hands, her dress, everywhere. He tries to reach out to her but no matter how much he tries, he can't get to her. And then she falls. He can't catch her and before she can finish calling out his name, she's gone.
No matter how the nightmare goes, how the story starts, it's always the same ending. Juvia is dead. He always manages to wake up before he can reach her lifeless body. Drenched in sweat and panting. A nightmare, it was just another nightmare, he'd have to constantly remind himself of that. He reaches out his arm to the other side of the bed, to assure himself that it was indeed just a bad dream, only to find it empty this time. Alarmed, he gets up in a rush, looking around the room.
It isn't until he sees the open balcony doors that he can calm down. Looks like he wasn't the only one with a nightmare tonight. Making his way over to the balcony, he finds her leaning against the railing, looking up at the moon, lost in thoughts. She always does this, whenever she can't sleep.
"Are you okay?" Gray walks up to her, wrapping his arms around her. He leans his head on her shoulder, waiting for a response.
"Yes, Juvia was just thinking."
"What about?"
There was a moment of silence. Juvia siged and turned in his arms, looking at him with sad eyes.
"Juvia had a bad dream.. well, not exactly. More like a bad memory. She remembered what we've been through and what she did in her past. Juvia isn't sure she's a good person."
That was new. Yes, just like Gray, Juvia had her fair share of bad memories and would deal with nightmares surrounding them. The part about her not being good enough however, that was a first.
"What are you saying? Don't be ridiculous, you're an amazing person."
"Juvia did a lot of bad things in her life Graysama, especially when she was with Phantom, she did things without questioning. There's a lot Juvia regrets and a lot she will always carry around with her."
"I understand. I've been there myself. But we can't change the past, we can't undo mistakes. All we can do is learn from them, grow and be better in the future. You can't carry this around forever, especially because you're too busy with carrying around something else.. or should I rather say someone."
Gray smiled at her and put one hand on her lower belly. She wasn't far yet, but there was a bump.
"This one may be still small, but our baby is going to get bigger. How are you supposed to carry anything else?"
He watched Juvias face break out in a smile.
"Does Graysama really believe Juvia can do this?"
"Of course you can do this. Who do you think I'm counting on?" Gray chuckled while Juvia put her arms around him, hugging him closely.
"Juvia loves you."
Instead of answering Gray leaned his forehead on hers, looking into her eyes and smiling at her, before finally closing the distance. For a moment they just stood there, lips moving slowly against each other while the moon shined in the back. When they pulled apart, Juvia looked at him with so much love and adoration that any doubt he could have had left. She loves him and he loves her. They will always be by each others side. And soon they will be joined by another one, their child that will carry his name, just like Juvia does.
It all somehow still felt so surreal to him. After enduring the nightmares for so long, he was finally getting a good dream. And he wouldn't ask for another one.
Gray took her hand in his, leading her back to their shared bed. After all, she needed the rest and so did their child. He'd make sure both of them feel well during it all. Because he made a promise, not just to Juvia but also to himself, a promise that he'd always protect his family.
"Juvia?"
"Yes, my darling?"
"I love you too."
♡♡♡
And.. here's another one! Happy Gruvia day :)

Oneshot for Gruvia day 2020! Enjoy! ^^
-----------------------------
It was a silent winter evening in the city of Magnolia. The first snow of the year had fallen yesterday and left the streets littered with footsteps and frosted windows.
Gray sighed. He couldn't even enjoy the amazing view he had over the city from the balustrade he was leaning over. Was it too late to just walk away? Maybe he should have never asked her to come here.
''Hey,'' He heard a soft voice say behind him. Gray turned around, facing the friend he trusted the most; Erza.
''Hey,'' he replied.
''So,'' she said as she leaned over the balustrade as well, ''what did you want to talk about?''
He grinned. ''I had hoped the location would give it away immediately.''
''You're right,'' Erza said, ''but why is it that you ask the most hopeless romantic for relationship advice?''
''Would you consider Lucy or Mira a better option?'' He snickered. ''Or worse; Cana.''
''They're not too good at taking steps towards their interests either, hm?'' Erza smiled. ''I'm very proud of how far you've progressed with expressing your feelings since the last time we stood here, about two years ago.''
He averted his eyes, pretending to admire the city lights. ''You think so?''
''I saw you hugging her back in front of everyone, that's not the Gray I knew back then.''
''I didn't know I was capable of it either, I just finally felt ready for it,'' he said, scratching the back of his head.
''I assume you asked me to come here to ask about what next step to take?''
''I'm hopeless,'' he grumbled, ''if it took me this long to even show affection, then how long will it take before I dare to ask her on a date?!''
''Probably sooner than you think,'' she said in a voice that sounded like it was fading, as if she walked away.
He turned his head. ''How do you-''
She was gone. Where she had stood, the empty streets stared back at him. From the stairs that led up to the balcony, he saw someone with the all too familiar strands of blue hair coming from under her winter hat.
''You can't be serious,'' he groaned.
From the opposite stairs, Erza gave him a double thumbs up. You got this.
''Good evening'', Juvia said, carrying two mugs of hot chocolate,''S-so I guess this is our first date?''
How many times had he denied they were on a date when Juvia talked about it if they carried out a quest together?
Gray was handed one of the mugs and gently took it from her. Her hands were slightly trembling. ''I-I guess it is.''
An awkward silence filled the space between them.
''The last time we stood on this balcony was the day the war broke out..'' Gray finally said.
Juvia pretended to drink from the steaming hot mug. ''I'll never forget that day,'' she softly said.
''I promised I would give my answer after the war,'' he said as tightened the grip on his mug, ''but it has been a year and I can imagine the answer you got at Lucy's party wasn't much, I'm sorry''
''T'there's no need, my love.'' Juvia smiled. ''I thought you knew I'm okay with the way things between us are now.''
''But I'm not,'' he said sternly, placing his mug on the balustrade. ''I'm only accepting your love, not returning it,'' he said as he leaned closer to her.
''It's okay,'' Juvia said almost out of breath, knowing that staring into his impossible dark eyes would make her sound less convincing.
''No, you deserve more,'' he said before closing the last inches between them.
Before Juvia could even progress what was happening, she could herself melt against his lips. Was this really happening?
He pulled back, his cheekbones redder than she had ever seen before.
''This is my answer,'' he said, his voice sounding faintly hoarse, ''will you accept it?''
She blinked a few times, barely realising this was reality. A tear escaped the corner of her eyes, followed by many more.
''Of course,'' she laughed through her tears and pulled him back closer by his collar.
He smiled against her lips when she kissed him back.
Maybe giving an answer wasn't so hard after all.

Gruvia Day 2020: Perfect Beginning
Morning, everyone!
Let us all celebrate the glory of today. A day which does not happen often, but is so special and beautiful.
I'm talking about Gruvia Day, of course. It is time to shower our ship with love and perhaps a little angst too.
Here's the info about the story:
Title: Perfect Beginning
Summary: Gray and Juvia's first date went perfectly, reminding her of a time when she had thought that a romance like this only existed in books. Finding herself happier than she had been in a long time, she wondered if perhaps their story could have a happy ending after all.
Word Count: 2K
Genre: Fluff and (minor) Angst
Warnings: This one-shot is set on Ch 4 of Answers, thus I'd advise you to read at least the 1st chapter because there are MAJOR SPOILERS for the story.
Happy reading!

                                        July 5th, X791
"This place is beautiful" Juvia looked around the field of sunflowers with a serene smile. They were just outside of Crocus, though this place was so quiet it felt like the city was far away.
“I’m glad you like it.” Gray watched her with a soft smile while he set the flowery blanket on the grass then put the basket filled with sweets which Mira had prepared on top of it.
After they had decided to get together the day before, he had asked her on a date to which she had enthusiastically agreed. Panicking because he had no idea what to do, Gray had come to Erza and Mirajane for help in the planning.
Listening to their ideas, he hadn't been so sure until Alzack and Bisca, who had been listening to them, suggested that Gray take Juvia on a picnic. The couple noted how this is what they had done for their first date. Judging by how they were now happily married with a daughter, Gray sensed it was a good idea.
"So, who gave you the idea for a picnic?" Juvia asked, breaking him out of his thoughts.
He raised a brow. "You don't believe I came up with this myself?"
She chuckled and shook her head. "Nope. I know you're not much of a romantic."
He feigned disbelief and hurt. "Hey, I can be very romantic." Standing up and closing the distance between them, he snaked his arms around her waist.
"Oh, yeah?" Juvia asked while her arms encircled his neck. They leaned in for a passionate kiss, then another.
Everything felt so perfect, like a fairy tale. Juvia remembered a time when she had wondered if a romance like this existed outside of books.
                                 __________________
                                    Many years ago….
"What are still you doing up, child?" Irene came into her room for the daily check up. Instead of being asleep like she was supposed to, Juvia had been reading a book. Immersed in the experience, she hadn't heard the older woman until now.
"Sorry, Irene," The young girl whispered, putting the book on her bedside table. "I'll go to sleep now."
The Scarlet Queen glanced at the object, focusing on the title, before frowning. "Beauty and the Beast again? Aren't you tired of reading this one?"
Juvia shrugged. "It's my favourite."
Curious, the older woman sat on the red chair beside the bed. "Why is that?"
"Well…." The young girl was thoughtful for a moment. "Belle loves reading, just like me."
"That is true," Irene smiled softly. "But what else?"
"I like that Beast lets her go even though he knows that she could break the curse." Juvia noted once a similar smile adorned her face. "It's like my mamma used to say, true love means putting someone else first."
The former suddenly seemed nostalgic and melancholic. "She was right."
"Are you okay?" The latter was concerned.
"I'm alright," Reassured the older woman, but her sniffle betrayed this statement.
Silence fell upon them as Irene was lost in thought and Juvia watched her curiously. Once she felt enough time had passed, the young girl posed a rather complicated but not surprising question. "Irene…do you believe that true love exists?"
It took the Scarlet Queen a while to respond. "I do."
Thoughtful again, Juvia followed up with "Then how do I find it?"
Irene shrugged. "Honestly, I don't know, child." Setting the book back on the bedside table, she stood and approached the bed.
Glancing at the now frowning child, she offered a reassuring smile. "But I'm sure you will find it someday."
Juvia's frown gave way to a hopeful look. "You are?"
"I am," Irene nodded before leaning down to press a gentle kiss atop the girl's forehead. Then the older woman urged her to lie down against the pillow and placed the blanket over her.
Once the child was comfortably settled, Irene stepped back and glanced at her softly. "Your parents..." Juvia's sleepy eyes immediately became alert. "What they had was true love, so I'm sure that you can have it too."
                                   __________________
Thinking about her parents, Juvia pulled away from the kiss. Noticing her sadness, Gray immediately became concerned. "What's wrong?"
"I'm fine," She reassured, but the tears that began falling suggested otherwise. He wiped them away gently, keeping one arm around her, holding her close.
Grateful for his support, she tried to compose herself in order not to ruin their date. This wasn't the time to think about her parents or how much she missed them. This was a day for her and Gray to enjoy themselves and explore the new direction which their relationship was taking.
Taking deep breaths, Juvia soon managed to stop crying and offered an apology. "I'm sorry."
"There's no need to apologise," He assured while wiping away the last remaining tears. "I understand."
"Thank you," Able to smile again, she briefly glanced at the picnic basket then back at him. "Now, how about we really begin our date?"
Gray watched her for a moment. "Are you sure? Because if you want to talk about..."
Juvia shook her head. "Not now." Noticing his uncertain expression, she put on a brighter smile. "Right now..." She took his hand. "...I would like to enjoy the wonderful picnic that my boyfriend so kindly prepared."
He nodded. "Okay, then." After squeezing her hand, he led her to sit down on the blanket before grabbing the picnic basket. "You know, it feels weird to hear you call me your boyfriend."
"Yeah, it does." Juvia agreed. Despite having fantasised for so long that they would get together, the term 'boyfriend' felt out of place.
There was a moment of silence while he took out the strawberry cake and cut up two large pieces. Accepting the plate he had offered, she added. "I won't do it again."
Unexpectedly, Gray smiled. "Nah, it's okay. I guess I just need more time to get used to it, that's all."
"That makes sense." Juvia nodded before diving into the cake. While enjoying the sweet, her mind replayed the wonderful moments that they had shared in the last 24 hours, specially their first kiss.
                                   __________________
                                     One day before
"What's wrong, darling?" Juvia watched as Gray nervously ran his hands through his hair.
He had asked her to come with him outside the infirmary so that they could talk, yet he had said nothing.
"I need… I need to tell you something." He finally looked her in the eyes.
"What is it?" Heart hammering inside her chest; she hoped this was the long awaited moment of his confession.
"Well, I…You see..." Gray stumbled with his words.
"Perhaps we can talk later?" Juvia suggested, gently.
"No." He firmly denied. "I have to do this now."
She waited again. Nothing. "Maybe you could show me what you mean?"
During the time she had known him, it had become clear that he was more a man of action than words.
His eyes widened before nervousness morphed into determination. He moved quickly but cautiously. An arm wrapped around her waist, bringing her closer while watching her reaction.
Juvia smiled, arms instinctively encircling his neck. Then, his free hand reached for her cheek and softly stroked it for a moment.
Gray started leaning in. "Juvia, can I…."
She didn't let him finish. "Yes."
Their first kiss was passionate and even though it didn't happen the way Juvia had been dreaming of, she loved it nonetheless.
(Scene taken from Answers, Chapter 1)
                                   __________________
"What are you thinking about?" Gray asked after a few minutes, setting his empty plate aside.
"I was just remembering when you kissed me the first time." Juvia chose to be honest.
"Oh." A slight blush coloured his cheeks. "That was rather...embarrassing."
"It was very sweet," She softly remarked.
"Thanks." Still blushing, Gray searched into the picnic basket for two caramade franks.
Her eyes widened. "Where did you get those?"
"Gajeel found a store 2 days ago, so he told me about it last night," He explained while offering one to her.
Accepting it, Juvia was genuinely surprised. "Gajeel...helped you with this?"
Gray chuckled at her reaction. "Yeah. He really cares about you, so I guess that's why he helped me make this date as perfect as possible."
Taking a bite of the caramade frank, she reminded herself to thank Gajeel later for truly being her best friend. "That's good. I was hoping you two could get along."
The ice mage smiled. "I know this is important to you, so I'll try."
She returned it. "Thank you."
                                   __________________
The rest of their date went smoothly and both had an enjoyable time. They got to know each other better, learning the most basic and trivial details such as their favourite colours.
"I do love blue." She expectedly answered, making him laugh. "I figured."
"What about yours?" Juvia questioned a moment later.
Having finished eating,Gray moved closer to sit by her side. "Well, actually mine is silver."
"Really?" She stared at him in surprise. "May I ask why?"
Gray's expression turned melancholic once he answered. "It was my father's name."
This led into a conversation which they hadn't been eager for, but it was important nonetheless. He shared details about his parents, Ur and Deliora.
Juvia was aware of most of his backstory, but there was new information such as the scarf which Ur had put around him and Lyon; it was the reason why he always wore one in the winter despite not feeling cold. The water mage also learned about his favourite childhood toy, a polar bear which had been gifted on his 1st birthday; as far as he remembered.
Gray even told her about the year before he joined Fairy Tail and the adventures he had. For once in his life, he opened up about everything, no reservations nor secrets. He trusted her fully.
Alternatively, Juvia had to hide many details when they shifted the conversation to her childhood and family life. Trained to know how to lie and manipulate, she made her stories about growing up in an orphanage without anyone to call a friend sound sincere.
It weighed on her conscience to be lying to him after he had been so honest, but there was no alternative. The truth needed to stay hidden, for both of their sakes.
                                   __________________
Concealing her guilt was hard, but luckily Gray mistook this for sadness and held her in a tight embrace. His attempt to comfort her soon led to a make-out session and she found herself lying beneath him on of the flowery blanket.
It was the perfect distraction from the complications of her life, so it's not like she was complaining. In fact, she was hoping their moment wouldn't have to end, but unfortunately their need for air eventually surpassed their desire for closeness.
Gray got off from her and moved to lay by her side. Sweaty and breathless, they glanced at each other with mirroring smiles. "Wow. That was..."
"I know." Juvia brought a hand to his cheek, stroking it gently. "Thank you."
"Of course." He took her hand and pressed a kiss to it, recalling that Lyon did that all the time and most women seemed to find it charming.
Juvia smiled even brighter at this. "I really didn't expect you to be so..."
He raised a brow in expectation. "What?"
She leaned in for a soft kiss. "Romantic."
Gray smirked. "I told you. I can be very romantic if I want to."
"So you've never wanted to before?" She inquired, recalling their friends telling her how he was the least romantic person they knew.
He fixed her with an adoring look. "I hadn't found someone worth being romantic for."
It was the sweetest declaration, so she couldn't help it but to enthusiastically kiss him, to which he eagerly returned.
Even though he hadn't said those three words yet, Juvia knew that he was in love as much as she was. This made her heart swell with joy and reminded her of the first time she had watched two people fall in love.
                                   __________________
                                    Many years ago...
Juvia sat beside a great oak tree in the gardens, watching the couple embrace. Ajeel Rahmal, a young prince who had recently joined the Spriggan 12, held his now girlfriend, Nadia, tightly. Both seemed immensely glad and relieved after having confessed their feeling. It was the most heartwarming sight.
"They look so happy," Juvia observed, smiling softly.
"They do." Turning to her right, she found that Irene had returned from her brief chat with the emperor. The older woman seemed happy too once her eyes found the couple.
Noticing them kiss, Juvia couldn't help but wonder. "Irene, do you think they will get married?"
Irene stared at her in surprise before raising a brow. "What makes you think that?"
"Well, according to the books I've read, when two people love each other they get married," The young girl  innocently replied.
"Oh, yes." Irene nodded. "They always end like that, don't they?" She seemed lost in thought for a moment before sighing. "It's a shame that real life doesn't work that way."
"What do you mean?" Juvia was confused, but also curious.
The older woman was clearly trying to hide her bitterness, but it still showed. "Just that there isn't always a happy ending."
"I know," The young girl frowned. "My parents...They didn't get one."
For some reason, Irene looked guilty for a moment. However, her expression soon returned to sorrowful. "They didn't."
With the mood now heavy and gloomy, they fell silent. Their attention returned to the couple and both felt envious at their happiness. Then, once the silence was becoming unbearable, Irene offered the young girl an assuring smile. "But that doesn't mean that you can't have one."
"So you think I can be happy..." Juvia glanced at the couple just as they laughed at something Ajeel had said. "...like them?"
"I'm sure you can." Irene knelt down to her level, placing both hands on the young girl's shoulder. "You're beautiful, kind and brave." She brushed back a strand of blue hair. "Just like your mother."
"Thank you." Juvia blushed at the compliments.
"I wouldn't be surprised if, someday, you found someone who will love you as much as your father loved her." Irene told her, genuinely.
"And then we'll get married?" The young girl asked, hopeful.
The older woman chuckled, then nodded. "Yes. Maybe you'll get a happy ending just like in your books."
