Well, now that response got me thinking, Mama Lakota AU...do the kids get their new names at any point? Does M!Lakota get sick of the name problem the way canon Lakota does and just...renames 'em? Jericho in particular seems to have a lot of very specific meaning behind it as a name. Seems very specific to ah, well, Jericho.

I feel like she'd give them names immediately after taking them in, so there wouldn't be a name issue, and their names wouldn't be the same in that AU because of the different circumstances.

oh absolutely. how she defeated kirby in this au is beyond me but that's just another funny thing since nothing in the twok au makes sense. in the normal kirby universe tho she wouldn't be able to even develop the guts to take kirby on cuz of how clumsy of a fighter she'd be

pretty much all you gotta do to figure that out is just read the twok comics LOL

oh absolutely not. she refuses to have children and tends to get jealous when people she loves are paying more attention to a cute kid than her. she treats kids with basic decency and respect tho but she is terrible at taking care of them, especially like toddlers since she can never understand what the heck they're saying

refuses to go on anything scary like rollercoasters and haunted houses. wants to go on less scary rides like the alpine sleds and teacup ride. will eat a ton of amusement park snacks like funnel cake, weird deep fried desserts, and cotton candy

uhhhh she's a representation of me as an author and if i was a creature in the kirby world. she's also the villain of one of the kirby multiverses

Ey, reading your Rescue thing and I'm really impressed with your visual storytelling. You clearly have a handle on it and I particularly like how you get across Meta's pain visually. Those little speech garbles really look how it feels to just get pain suddenly. Like how you write the characters, especially Kirby bein' a lil' chatterbox. :> Hope you've got more! I like it.

I was thinking it'd be less visual differences and more internal. Although I haven't fully decided what the differences will be-

Some ideas I had was maybe Peach and the others are Herbivores? What if they can only eat fruits and veggies and Mario sees a slab of cooked meat and he's just like "OO STEAK" and chomps into it and everyone just looks at him like

ALSO! Maybe Peach has to sleep a lot more than Mario does. OR maybe a lot less? Imagine if peach only needed 4 hours of sleep and then she was wide awake. Or maybe the opposite? Imagine if 12 hours is a standard amount of sleep they need. Mario is running around at 7 AM on 8 hours of sleep and Peach is like "whyyyy are you uppp so earlyyy go back to sleeeppp"

Or SHES up at 4 AM like "Mario are you up? Hey Mario are you awake? Do you want breakfast? I made you breakfast. Its cake I hope that's okay-"

I also imagined temperatures! I mostly imagined that Peach cannot handle the heat what so ever. Mario's out there in 35°C (95°F) heat and Peach is tucked away in her dungeon like a vampire. Or the OPPOSITE?? Its 40°C (104°F) and she's out there gardening and Mario is cooped up inside just miserable <XD

What Starstruck Dee theory have people made that is your favourite?

there have been quite a lot, and i genuinely love them all!

early on i think the most popular theory was that she was possessed or had been possessed at some point, most likely by dark matter. she actually debunked this theory personally, but i think people just assumed she was lying! 😂

my favourite part is not any one theory, but watching a shift in thoughts over time as more things are revealed, and seeing people share theories/work together in comments and reblogs. i like the "OOHHH WWWWHAT...!?!" moments a lot; whether they are a reaction to my storytelling or to other folks' detective work!

early theories revolved around how she was weird for a waddle dee, or at least a native of popstar. despite my never explicitly confirming anything to the contrary, theories have now broadly shifted to assuming she is not from popstar at all, and most people do now generally agree she's not really a waddle dee.

i don't recall exactly who first came up with each theory (though some big players are @the-void-is-a-disappointment who did a huge amount of early deetective work and encouraged me to build it as a story for solving, @shibuya-toasted-with-extra-cream, @graycoin and @jojo-schmo) and i'm not sure which of these theories are still held by anyone

but here a few of my favourites, roughly in order that they started appearing...

♻️ she's a total mimic species like kirby or void, copying things around her either by intent or by accident 🗑️ similar to above, but she's an incorrect copy or a "beta" mock-up type of a waddle dee 🧚 that she was just born different, like a fae changeling, and might have been hidden away when young as a result 🕰️ she is something totally inorganic and/or mechanical, created by or like the clockwork stars or stardream, perhaps wish contingent 🥇 sometimes attached to the above, she was created to serve some sort of Greater Purpose. she might have failed at it or been flawed, and was subsequently discarded on popstar 🌠 a dozen and one wildly different things connected to the "falling star that hit her". alien life form on the meteor transferred into her on impact. infection by intergalactic bacteria/dark matter. simply massive concussive trauma that fucked up her signature (back when we thought that was the only thing wrong with her). the star was magic and fused with her. she hatched from it and is literally a star herself. probably missing some here. 🪐 waddle dee from a different place/planet. this one is quite a sensible theory, given that we do see many quite different dees! 🤍 she is a fragmented piece of void/void termina. this one in particular i know is @shibuya-toasted-with-extra-cream 's ongoing theory and she's put in a lot of really cool work towards it! ⚔️ she's somehow connected to the heroes of yore. this theory i think has only started popping up since galacta knight has become a reoccurring visitor in her storyline and we've started asking questions about her familiar looking magic spears, but you can certainly 1hko @moonverc3x with this one 🧿 she's connected to the matters. sometimes soul, because it's sometimes star themed and lacks a token representative. where as a connection to dream might link her to fecto forgo/fecto elfilis in some way (a creature also well known for a catastrophic meteor attack). i've also seen folks confident that she's connected to heart matter as well, probably again due to everyone's favourite grumpy swan showing up

this is all i can think of or locate right now, but there's been a pretty wide range of things. i feel there has been a rather interesting transition over time from "she's a messed up waddle dee" to "she's probably connected to a universal superpower of some kind" which i am genuinely really really thrilled about?! 😂 what a glow up for a pathetic little wawa!!!

i'm also personally really fond of seeing how people's existing biases influence what they can find and draw connections in. for instance: i know @jojo-schmo loves the forgotten land and elfilis, and digs into those connections and draws out some really cool stuff because her knowledge is already so specialised! i think this is the true highlight of working on this story for me, people theorising and engaging in the lore, and laser pin-pointing things that tie into our personal faves-- the way we tend to do with kirby lore as a whole-- is such uninhibited delight

i sincerely hope people will enjoy where starstruck's story does go, in the end!!

🌙 (Moon) - Is your OC a particularly light or heavy sleeper? Somewhere in-between? Do they take naps?

🎶 (Music Notes) - Do they play any instruments? What kind of leitmotif and/or battle theme would they have? Are there any songs you associate with them?

💌 (Love Letter) - How easy are they to befriend? Are they more of a social butterfly or a lone wolf?

🌙 (Moon) - Prisma is a relatively good sleeper! She never really has trouble going to bed, but sometimes she can be a bit more restless and finds herself waking up at random times in the middle of the night.

🎶 (Music Notes) - She doesn't play any instruments, but I imagine her battle theme would be somewhat whimsical and playful sounding, as a fight with her would be more a friendly test of strength rather than a serious confrontation.

💌 (Love Letter) - Prisma is very much a social butterfly and enjoys making friends, especially when she was little. Nowadays while she is still friendly, she remains slightly cautious about new people. But she's still quick to befriend others if they show themselves to be kind.

⚖️ (Scales) - Definitely a magic user! She doesn't know a whole lot about science, but is very familiar with her powers being very magic-based.

💜 (Purple Heart) - Will be answered in another ask!

I think of the playable characters in birth by sleep, ventus would be their favorite. (both because kirby probably relates to him most and because his combat is most amenable to just mashing regular attack and dodge the whole time (which is mostly what I did lol)) out of all of kingdom hearts I do think they’d vibe with sora. my dirtboys.

yep, he’s a static image. when you’re seeing stuff directly from me, I always tag any moving image with “gif” even if it’s a small amount of animation. (my eyes play tricks on me sometimes too.)

I don't have a fleshed out world for my anthro people, but I think spiders and other arthropods are fairly uncommon or tend to keep to their own, so some animals don't know what to make of them.

It’s an interesting question! I’ll definitely have to think about it more.
