[ID: a cartoony illustration of Adora Belle Dearheart and Moist Von Lipwig in an embrace. Adora Belle wears a dark, severe floor length gown accented with stars, and Moist wears his golden postman suit and winged hat. Adora Belle is dipping Moist, who is gripping her shoulder and gazing up at her adoringly. She looks down at him, brow slightly furrowed and the hint of a malicious smile on the curve of her mouth. The background is a moon/sun motif— the moon and stars behind Adora Belle, and the sun behind Moist. End ID]

Character info, from submissions, under the cut
Ronnie Orfeo (Canon)
Golden Spike, is the leader of the Salt City Strangers, a team of volunteer superheroes who fight the supernatural threats that befall the people of Utah. His his super-strength and agility from the famous gold railroad spike used to complete the intercontinental railroad. The railroad itself was an part elaborate plan to disrupt the lay lines that gave power to various supernatural threats.
The Salt City Strangers are refered to as an LDS team of superheroes and report to Church officials, though it's also been mentioned that they cover the spectrum of Mormonism. Spike seems to be the type who puts on a show of faithfulness while trying to work through his doubts.
Kirby Laybourne (Canon)
Kirby Laybourne is is the newest member of Everclean. He's sensitive, naive, and extremely kind. Loves crafts and has strong opinions on it. Plays guitar and writes his own songs. Arguably the most talented of the trio.
Kirby is very rooted in mornonism. Has a heart of gold and feet firmly planted in the church. He's worn the same CTR ring ever since he was little, and considers it his lucky charm.

The Golden Spike
Otherwise known as the Golden Spike Ceremony, this historic event not only celebrates the completion of the first transcontinental railroad, named the Pacific Railroad, but it also recognizes the significance of the immigrant workforce that helped the nation accomplish what many believed was impossible.

Great South Point Casino Book Signing
On Saturday, December 16, 2023, I held a great book signing at South Point Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, on the last day of the National Finals Rodeo.
Book lovers browsing during South Point book signing.
My wife, Barbara, and long-time business associate, Cathy Mufich assisted me. The management and staff at South Point did a fantastic job supporting the endeavor, as they always do.

This photo with its wonderful lighting was taken by Ryan Choi some years ago on the descent into Soledad Canyon. Soledad Canyon is the location of the 'golden spike' . . . the official final segment of the PCT.

The Exceptional Sale of The Arizona Spike
The Museum of the City of New York is selling one of the golden spikes from the completion of the Transcontinental Railroad. Christie's lot description is startling in its breadth and candor about the historic and contemporary context for the Golden Spike ceremony, the railroad, and its aftermath. It takes a lot of scholarship and critical thinking to sell a railroad spike for half a million dollars.
