Since I’ve never acknowledged them all in one space before, I thought I’d share some fan art from my fan fics.
This was commissioned by my editor from my friend as a scene from “The Duck Knight in Duckburg”, one of the first stories I wrote with feedback from an editor, and possibly the first story on fanfiction.net that had Drake Mallard and Donald Duck hang out and talk about their kids. I did age up the triplets to give Launchpad time to finish his Duck Tales with the 1987 gang and still build the Thunderquack for Darkwing Duck. I would write this story differently now if I had the attention span for it, but my duck muse has been sadly absent since I started “A Hero’s Ultimatum” over ten years ago.
This one is paraphrased slightly but it’s a comic of one of my other fanfics, “The Best Present Ever.” The idea was suggested to me in a comment on one of my fics and I shared the story with the commenter and became friends with them! That was my first foray into online forums, role-playing rpg stories, and meeting other like-minded people, and I will forever be grateful for the experience! I was really tickled when an artist contacted me about drawing my story later. I can only imagine how much work this took!
And this one is not a scene from my stories, but it was inspired by them. 😆 https://www.deviantart.com/xanadu7/art/Scrooge-McDuck-vs-Darkwing-Duck-Conclusion-334720135 I fully agree with the outcome.

Hello Salt man! You seem like an unhinged enough weeb for this question:
I’m going to be the president of the anime club in my highschool this year and have no fucking idea what I should do for activities and shit.
Any ideas? If not, that’s perfectly fine too!
(Also thank you for reblogging my Peppy drawing it made my day ^^)
No problem! I loved the art
I think it’s pretty obvious for an Anime club to watch Anime, however that shit is basic, and I have some unhinged ideas.
Trivia (the least unhinged)
—Make a trivia game on PowerPoint, or on Kahoot that feature questions based on various popular anime. Get specific and weird for the harder questions.
Anime Debate Club
—(be careful with this one because depending on the group it may get heated lol)
—At the end of a meeting, choose to random anime characters
—Tell members that they can pick sides on which of the two would win in a fight, then between meetings, bring together their arguments for why, they have to have actual citation and examples of the character’s powers, or reference specific canon material
—Bonus points if one of the debate teams puts together a PowerPoint slideshow on a character’s power set, or the other characters weaknesses
—Have a judge award points for valid arguments, but have them be cracked out of their minds about it (For example, awarding points to “Comedy” characters, like if an Osumatsu-San character surviving a Ki blast could be funny? That’s a point towards them. LMAO)
NOTES: Obviously the characters chosen cannot be Goku, Vegeta, Saitama, or in general overpowered characacters. Also, having completely fucking insane match ups, or wildly specific match ups is recommended. Like Bobobo VS Dio Brando from Jojo. Or General Tao from Dragon Ball VS Gojo.
If the fight is extremely one sided, just make a list of all the ways that one side would fucking dominate because that shit is fucking funny LOL.
Weekly Book Club but for anime
—This isn’t really “unhinged” but I recently did a manga book club with friends weekly and it was super cool to meet up and discuss the chapters of a particular series and such
—You can do this for anime and assign a set number of episodes, OR do manga and provide a way to read it online
—Rotate out series every so often so people don’t feel like they’re focusing all their attention to a single series the entirety of the year
—This could be a fun thing to do casually between meetings and to talk about a little at the start
Pitch your favorite
—Have people make a short presentation on PowerPoint to pitch their favorite series that’s 3-5 minutes each, or whatever depending on how many people you have
—If you wanna make it funny make it so they HAVE to include both Pros, AND Cons about it. (Like for One Piece: PRO would be the amazing worldbuilding, and a CON would be that Oda cannot draw women)
Make an Epic OC
—Force people to design OCs for a specific series for that week. If they can draw and want to, they can draw them. If they can’t draw? Make it a stick figure, or a shitty drawing a child would make. And have them make a small write up about the character and their powers.
—This can easily be taken seriously, or just have them make an overpowered self insert, all of it is fine
Anyway that’s all my ideas! Hope this helps or inspires some of your own unhinged ideas

watching dragon ball alone in my bedroom on an old, small, and dusty tv at 5 in the afternoon is without exaggeration the first memories i have of my life. so clear, yet so distant.
i remember doodling dragon ball characters almost every day in primary school. and even when i didn't draw them specifically, you could tell that "art" for me looked like toriyama's style. those drawings were my first exposure to the that world, and that was my starting point for anything i've ever drawn.
funny story: the hardest i've ever cried as a kid (and kind of in general), was watching the final minutes of the final episode of dragon ball GT, where the intro song "dan dan kokoro hikareteku" plays over a montage of all of dragon ball from beginning to end. i had been following goku since he was a kid in OG dragon ball almost daily since i could remember. kid me couldn't take the idea of him being gone forever. he was my best friend.
i watched that episode on the day of my BIRTHDAY, like 2 hours before i had to go to my party at an arcade restaurant we invited my friends to. i was A MESS. just sitting in our car sobbing uncontrollably while my mom didn't know what the fuck was wrong with me as i couldn't speak. must have been like 8-9 years old, maybe?
last year i thought to myself "why don't i have that song on my playlist?" and decided to look up this ending again out of curiosity. i was once again reduced an absolute wreck as a 27 year old adult in 2 minutes. i couldn't believe how primal these emotions of mine were, as i hadn't watched or cared much about this show in forever, but i suppose it is impossible to completely remove something that was once so core to your life, regardless of how much time has passed lmao. so here i am, tearing up once again.
i know i'm just rambling here, but seeing so many people on social media talk about their experiences with anything that toriyama-san had created really made me start reminiscing on my own experiences with dragon ball and how much it meant to me.
the reach he had on the entire planet cannot be overstated. through comic books, anime, videogames... be it dragon ball, dragon quest, chrono trigger, dr. slump, sand land, etc. and that is without even considering the unquantifiable amount of art that was inspired directly by his work, and the people that were then inspired in turn.
he's touched so many lives of all ages across time. and will continue to do so, as is the nature of art itself.
watching my favorite show. collecting cards with my favorite characters on them. frequenting my favorite AMVs of my favorite moments. playing my favorite videogames with my friends after school... the list goes on.
thank you for all the memories.
thank you, akira toriyama. rest in peace.

Something interesting I recently noticed about Freeza as originally written by the late Akira Toriyama in the Dragon Ball manga.
Out of the five Big Bads of the manga when it became a more high stakes action-oriented series (King Piccolo, Vegeta, Freeza, Cell, and Majin Buu), Freeza has by far the least impressive on-page kill count in regards to deaths we see him directly bringing about in the present or deaths he's confirmed to have brought about. It's closest to King Piccolo's and actually lesser than that of Vegeta, who continues racking up his body count even in Freeza's own saga. And this may surprise fans who remember Freeza being viciously kill-happy with even his own underlings in the anime (killing Oran, killing Namole, killing a guy during the encounter with Future Trunks on Earth), but such incidents never occured in the manga, where Freeza never lay a finger on any of his employees. A major characteristic of Freeza is that while he has all the power within him at his disposal to kill as he pleases and could easily kill someone, he prefers not to dirty his own hands since he has a wide array of footsoldiers who could kill for him on his orders. Prior to the fight with him on Namek, whenever he did make a direct kill himself, it tended to be very nonchalant and casual, like he doesn't need to flex any muscle in order to do so.
For comparison, here's the kills we got out of the other Big Bads:
King Piccolo: killed Krillin (via Tamborine), several martial artists we knew from earlier in the series (again via Tamborine), Master Mutaito and many fighters and civillians in the past, Master Roshi, Chiaotzu, Shenron, and the militants and civillians of Earth's capitol city. He also very nearly momentarily killed Goku when he stopped his heart. And of course there was his plan for PICCOLO DAY, where he'd annually blow up nations of the Earth and kill thousands for fun!
Vegeta: killed dozens of city civillians (via Nappa), Yamcha (via Saibamen), Chiaotzu (via a senseless sacrifice), Tien (via Nappa), Piccolo (via Nappa), Cui, Dodoria, an entire village of Namekians, Appule, Zarbon, Guldo, Recoome, Burter, Jeice, and the remaining Freeza Forces posted at Freeza' mothership. He kills much less after this, only killing Android 19, a random truck driver, Puipui, and people in the audience of the 25th World's Martial Arts Tournament.
Cell: killed dozens of whole city populations, Android 17, human and animal life on islands, Android 18, Android 16, the Royal Military, Goku himself along with King Kai and Bubbles (via a senseless sacrifice), Future Trunks, and he intended to kill every living thing on Earth and on other worlds across the entire universe had he not been stopped. He also very nearly killed Piccolo and Tien almost sacrificed his whole life to stop him from pursuing 18 and 16.
Majin Buu: killed the Kaioshins, Dabura, random civillians and dozens of whole city populations, Babidi, Van Zant, Smithy, all remaining humans on Earth sans Mr. Satan, Chi Chi and then all the good guys out at Kami's Lookout, Gotenks, Piccolo, Gohan, Vegito, all plant and animal life on Earth, and would kill every living thing on other worlds across the entire universe if not stopped.
Now here's Freeza, who killed....
Namekian villagers
Tumblr media
Cargo (dunno why the anime gave this kill to Dodoria)
Tumblr media
The Saiyan race of Planet Vegeta
Tumblr media
Nail
Tumblr media
The Grand Elder and Porunga (indirectly, premature deaths)
Tumblr media
King Vegeta
Tumblr media
Dende
Tumblr media
Bardock
Tumblr media
Prince Vegeta
Tumblr media
Nearly kills Piccolo (Nail's energy inside him narrowly saves him)
Tumblr media
And of course, Krillin
Tumblr media
And yet, despite having limited on-page or confirmed kills, Freeza's the villain who set a whole new standard for pure evil in this series, with even Toriyama himself saying that he was the one villain who was a bit personally, viscerally discomforting for him to have to write and read, as there was so little about him to mitigate how vile he was. The anime adaptation played up his monstrous villainy for this very reason. Two things in addition to these kills rendered Freeza a different beast than other villains and made him seem so damn evil.
1. He's a galactic emperor, warlord, conqueror and profiteer by trade. Because he leads his own empire and is at the head of this horrible business that has looted, depopulated, and sold entire planets across galaxies, Freeza is responsible for genocide after genocide. The extermination of the Saiyans cuts particularly deep because they were his loyal followers in this sick business and he still wiped the vast majority of them out just to remove the slim possibility of his power getting challenged, rivalled, or surpassed by one of them, but the Namekian genocide he is introduced carrying out tells us everything we need to know about how he regularly operates. Freeza is your typical "civilized savage" in the vein of Europeon colonizers, Spanish conquistadors, and terrorist state-leading dictators from all across history, putting on the superficial facade of being the well educated, well spoken, better developed, sophisticated, "civilized" person than indigenous populations while he nonetheless engages in actual barbarism and savagery against said population that he can rationalize and justify by being stronger and "better" than them. He doesn't need to directly slaughter a whole bunch of planet natives when he's the one sitting at the top of his enterprise calling the shots for his lackeys to carry out the slaughter for him, but as such he still stands responsible for everything carried out by the likes of Zarbon, Dodoria, and the Ginyu Force. He's the Palpatine of Dragon Ball!
2. His absolutely chilling, heartless, brutal, sadistic cruelty, and all the other negative characteristics that he displays, especially when in a fight himself. This is a dude who physically pummels his opponents bruised and bloody with a grin on his face, threatens to tear people limb from limb and torture them to death when he's really pissed at them, impales a guy with his curved horns, brutalizes a child and steps on his head to crush his skill while gleefully cackling, fires a barrage of lasers to blow holes into an opponent with visible maniacal ecstacy, strangles his former follower with his tail while punching his injured body repeatedly, toys with the opponent he enjoys fighting in the most bluntly hurtful and malicious ways yet is incensed at having to take what he dishes out, whose instict when he's no longer getting his way and a mental thread has snapped is to throw an energy ball into the planet's core to blow it all up, will twice repay the choice to spare his life with trying to take the life of the one who spared him, and has such a pathological need to be the most powerful, to be the winner, to exact petty vengeance upon whoever committed an affront against him that he'd slaughter as many among a planet's population as he wanted to just to make his enemy suffer (we can see where Vegeta got that from!). Freeza is, all in all, the worst, most despicable bully in the cosmos and you loathe him for it.
So when Toriyama returned to writing for him years later, for all the character growth he got, he also got worse in some areas like in the direct actions he's taken and the harm he's caused (blowing Tagoma and many of his other troops out into space, killing his entire attack force when they got beaten down, nearly killing Gohan, blowing up the entire Earth so that he'd not lose to Vegeta, killing Paragus to make Broly a Super Saiyan, continuing his reign of destruction and death across several planets more directly now, what he did to Planet Cereal and to Gas and Elec of the Heeter Force, etc.)
Has his characterization developed any semblence of decency at all?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
That is some quintessential Pure Evil right there!

Here's some more Dragonball Z fanart featuring some of my favorite characters: Guldo, Chiaotzu, and Gohan. However, this art piece isn't exactly a happy one. You probably might get the hint as to why I say this already, but I'll give you some details.
As a lifelong fan of Dragonball, I was shocked to hear that the creator of the series, Akira Toriyama, had passed away roughly over a week ago. It was like reading news articles about how Toriyama-san was about to announce some new projects and spinoff works he was working on; then, suddenly, the next day, I found out that he was gone. According to official reports, Toriyama-san's cause of death was acute subdural hematoma.  Basically, this is a form of severe head injury in which bleeding fills up the brain area and causes brain tissue to compress. I will leave a hyperlink in case anyone wants to know more about it, but anyway, back to Toriyama...
When I was much younger, I would watch Dragonball and Dragonball Z on Cartoon Network's Toonami and Miguzi segments. Sometimes I would find myself hurrying back home or to my grandma's house from school and my afterschool program to catch the latest episode. I would watch Goku's adventures religiously and see what kind of friends, rivals, and enemies he'd make along the way. I was also a big fan of the Dragonball Z video games, including DBZ: Budokai, The Legacy of Goku, Dragonball FighterZ, Super Dragonball Heroes: World Mission, and DBZ: Kakarot. I would play DBZ: Budokai 3 non-stop with my cousin whenever I went to his house to play his PS2 with him. I still wish I had my PS2 so I could relive my DBZ gaming memories, but I still have Dragonball FighterZ, Super Dragonball Heroes, and DBZ: Kakarot. Matter of fact, I want to return to Dragonball FighterZ at some point since the online modes have been overhauled with rollback netcode. I also want to go back to DBZ: Kakarot at some point to finish playing the game and DLCs!
Fast-forward several years later, I remember not too long ago that during the COVID pandemic, I would binge-watch the original Dragonball series and a portion of the Dragonball Z series while exercising on a machine in the comfort of my home. It was my favorite pastime and a great way for me to lose weight while doing so. In fact, I plan on continuing to binge-watch the original Dragonball Z series with the Kikuchi musical score real soon.
I'm still very shocked and saddened by the fact that Toriyama-san is no longer with us, but as a Dragonball fan and appreciator of his works, I will always keep his stories close to my heart. Dragonball is a series that has given me a reason to never give up on life and everything that I do. It's something that helps me get pumped to exercise, become a better person, and never stop improving myself in the long run. So, to give Toriyama-san a proper sendoff, I'm going to refrain from trying to collect the Dragon Balls to bring him back to life, salute him for all his hard work and his efforts to make my childhood the best childhood I've ever had, and keep his memories and works alive!
Thank you so much for the memories, Toriyama-san. May you rest in peace.

DBZ was a fundamental part of my childhood. I bought bootleg posters of it when we weren't allowed to stick things to walls just so I could trace Goku. I joined art club in 6th grade, and the thing I painted was Goku. Everyone in class watched DragonBall. Thank you, Toriyama-san

Do you think Gohan has impacted you in your everyday life?
OoOoOoOOOo juicy question! 👀👀👀
The short answer is yes, but for kind of a weird reason. This is totally a word vomit/stream of consciousness type overshare so I'm putting it under the cut:
So I've loved Gohan ever since I was a kid. I never had a crush on him as a character or anything, but man I really, REALLY liked his character. Like I remember being 4 or 5 and kneeling on the ground in front of the TV, half-eaten cereal in front of me, staring at the TV in a trance as Goku teleported Cell away and Gohan started yelling. The Cell Saga was the first time I was introduced to DBZ, and in that moment Gohan became my favourite character ever and a huge comfort character.
He kind of fell on the backburner for a bit while I was indulging in other media like Inuyasha and Yu-Gi-Oh, where characters like Inuyasha and Bakura and became my comfort characters (oh god I even wrote tons of Yu-Gi-Oh fanfiction, all in a little private physical notebook), but in late middle school/early high school I was reintroduced to DBZ via the abridged series, then I rewatched the actual series a few times. And Gohan came back as a prominent comfort character for me.
Whenever I'm daydreaming, drifting, need to totally dissociate from the world (my childhood wasn't a good one and I dissociated often), I'd just make up DBZ fanfics in my head where Gohan was the main focus. I'd also write TONS of fanfics in little notebooks. I filled 3 whole notebooks with Gohan fanfiction!!! Exploring his character and his relationships to all the other characters in the series (which, as fanfics go, meant I also had to get good at writing each individual character and their relationships with each other, sans Gohan) was my way to destress after a really bad day. Like a little slice of normalcy (as normal as DBZ characters can be, anyways!). "Role-playing" those little healthy interactions between characters taught me a lot about how to have those interactions in my own life because it's a safe place to explore them. Aside from destressing though, it's also just incredibly fun. A way to make any day, good or bad, better!
Currently, I use Gohan (and other characters) to practice different artstyles and stuff, but also I've legitimately used these characters as a proxy for sorting through tough emotions for me to the point where my therapist even recommends I explore certain themes by drawing Gohan in different ways, and I even constantly show her my art and we pick apart the emotions that went into it XD Because I have a LOT of trouble drawing self-portraits of myself, but drawing Gohan comes really easily to me, and I constantly project a lot of my own experiences onto Gohan. So I can explore those feelings without having to draw pictures of myself. I think some people might consider this "kinning" but I don't associate with that term and don't consider myself a "Gohan kin" (since Gohan is simply lines on a piece of paper).
It's also just really fun to have something to obsess over. I really look forward to coming home and making a cup of chai so I can relax and draw. It's a prominent part of my day-to-day. If I DON'T draw DBZ characters doing stupid shit for a while then I definitely feel the difference.
So yeah, you can say that he's definitely impacted me in my every day life this way!

Perhaps Undertale AUs are played out, but I had an idea for a character swap for a while: Undertale, but the main cast is replaced by Dragon Ball's.
Tumblr media
So far most of my concepts for the AU are just doodles or from an outdated art style of mine. I've been toying with a chibi style because I think it fits the vibe of Undertale more than Dragon Ball's artstyle (and it's easier to sketch out concepts and doodles that way).
Tumblr media
So far, my set-in-stone swaps are:
Frisk - Frost
Flowey/Asriel - Trunks
Chara - Frieza
Sans - Raditz
Papyrus - Goku
Asgore - Vegeta
Tumblr media
Some tentative swaps are:
Toriel - Bulma
Undyne - Nappa
Muffet - Android 17/18
Tumblr media
I'll reveal some details about personality, motivations, and backstory soon.
If anyone has any questions/suggestions, feel free to send in an ask!

Hello again, folks. I wanted to make a tribute to Akira Toriyama.
As for earliest memories, I was introduced to Dragon Ball by a friend when I was 7. We watched the episode which Goku defeated Recoome on Toonami. Then, I continued watching the series ever since. Then, I eventually introduced the series to my family. I watched the episode with where Goku bites Frieza's tail with my late great cousin. Then, I watched most of the Buu Saga with my Dad. I even introduced the series to my brother and cousins too.
Mr. Toriyama and his art style was big inspiration for my own art. You couldn't tell because I became known mostly Total Drama related things, but you would notice some Toriyama like drawing tropes in my work. To conclude, Toriyama-san's series and art had major effect in my life, and I wish that could have expressed it better in words. Rest in peace, Toriyama. And thank you.

Diversos artistas prestaram homenagens a Toriyama, mas nenhuma fez tanta gente suar pelos olhos quanto a carta de amor e despedida escrita por Eiichiro Oda, criador de One Piece. Leia a íntegra e chore comigo:
