Blurb: Adoptee Frankie struggles to see eye-to-eye with her mother, who would rather ignore a problem and preserve their “perfect” life than stand up for what’s right. Jo just wants her mom to accept her queer identity, and is totally crushed when Frankie, the only person who really gets her, finds herself infatuated with someone new. Phoenix tries to find his place at a new school and balance wanting to spend time with Frankie, but knows he also has to help out with his sick sister at home. Bella wants to enjoy the end of high school and just head off to college without a hitch. Everyone expects Frankie’s brother Nick to be the golden boy, but even though he just got into his dream school, he’s not even sure he’s a good person. Each of their stories intersects when Bella is sexually assaulted at a party...and it looks like the perpetrator might get away with it.

♫ Hold On ♫ (Redux)
♫ Hold On ♫ (Redux)
I was in the kitchen this afternoon, scrubbing my indoor electric grill that I had used to grill chicken breasts ala Marguerite last night (NOT a fun chore, scrubbing the grill!!!) when I found myself humming, then quietly singing this song.  I couldn’t remember the title of the song nor the name of the group (have I mentioned that my memory is not what it once was?), but I remembered that the…

Back to the Future: The Musical coming to Broadway in 2023
Great Scott! As a longtime Back to the Future fan, this is exciting news. A musical theater adaptation of the 1985 movie is coming to Broadway in 2023.
This show premiered in the U.K. in Manchester in 2020 and then played London in 2021. The book is by Bob Gale, co-write of BTTF and the music is by BTTF composer Alan Silvestri and hitmaker Glen Ballard.
I hope this show features some of the songs on the original soundtrack like Huey Lewis and the News!
The link above is the article from Hollywood Reporter.

Sade, Jeff Lynne, Glen Ballard and Snoop Dogg among Songwriters Hall of Fame Inductees
- “The music industry does not exist without songwriters delivering great songs first,” HOF Chairman Nile Rodgers says
Sade, Electric Light Orchestra mastermind and Traveling Wilbury Jeff Lynne, Jagged Little Pill collaborator Glen Ballard and Snoop Dogg are among the 2023 Songwriters Hall of Fame inductees.
Gloria Estefan, Teddy Riley and Liz Rose round out the Class of 2023.
The induction ceremony is slated for June 15 in New York. Special award winners will be announced later.
“The music industry does not exist without songwriters delivering great songs first,” HOF Chairman Nile Rodgers said in a statement.
“Without them, there is no recorded music, no concert business, no merch, nothing; it all starts with the song and the songwriter. … The 2023 slate (of inductees) represents not just iconic songs but also … songwriters who have enriched our lives and, in their time, literally transformed music and the lives of billions of listeners all over the world.”

There are a couple of musicians that basically made their careers out of covering other people's songs in a way. True, Brian Setzer – you noticed I'm talking about him thanks to you checking the link – doesn't really seem to be in the vein I mentioned, but his opus remains a case study of someone who looks up to the past to do his own thing. Of course, this also means he does occasionally present the fact by establishing his own version of the tunes that gave him a few pointers on his own career. His swing revival Orchestra found him tackling many of these old songs, where he and his crew shine as a fine collection of players for these tunes, he doesn't stuff them in the mothballs like some similar to him do, he gives them the energy they need.

Lecture 21: “You Oughta Know” (1995) - Alanis Morissette: Female artists, particularly Canadians, were a force to be reckoned with during the ‘90s. Three of the decades best selling music stars were women from the Great White North. Quebec born pop sensation Celine Dion, country star Shania Twain from Timmins, ON. and Ottawa’s own Alanis Morissette. After two albums and moderate success in Canada, Morissette moved to L.A. A close collaboration with writer/producer Glen Ballard resulted in her third LP, released less than two weeks after her 21st birthday. Jagged Little Pill (1995) has become one of the best selling albums of all time, with over 30 million copies sold worldwide (estimated sales). It produced a number of hits. “You Oughta Know,” Morissette’s signature song, channeled much of the Riot Grrrl spirit and philosophy. It rose to #6 on the Billboard Hot 100, and features the talents of guitarist Dave (Red Hot Chili Peppers/Jane’s Addiction) Navarro and bass player Flea (of Red Hot Chili Peppers).
