Old Southern Galarian words for the first 11 Galarian Pokemon
Tumblr media
This is explained in my kid's, @quillpokebiology , Geography" post, but Galarian has multiple dialects/languages. The Galarian I'm speaking is Hammerlock Galarian, but I grew up in a place that spoke Southern Galarian (specifically from the Crown Tundra). So, here are words for some of the pokemon there.
1. Suanáilte: Sobble
Pronounced "Su-ahn-alt-eh." From the words "Suaracha" meaning insignificant/paltry, and "conáilte" meaning blue.
2. Drúana: Drizzile
Pronounced "Ndrú-ah-nah." From the words "driùchd" meaning "Drizzle" or Dew" and "Gruama" meaning "Sad/depressed/gloomy"
3. Scaoilaghairt: Inteleon
Pronounced "Skeel-leerch." Combination of the words Scaoil, which means shoot and [to] fire, while Laghairt means lizard.
4. Sgôrnín: Scorbunny
Pronounced "Goor-neen." It still translates to Scorbunny, but I'll talk about it anyway. Sgôr is actually Lean (referring to Ballonlean), meaning Score, as sgór in southern Galarian means mountain peak/steep hill/pinnacle, etc. Coinín means bunny.
5. Bunineanach: Scorbunny
Pronounced "Bun-ye-nah." "Bun" means foot while "coineanach" means rabbit.
6. Ciceáluith: Cinderace
Pronounced "Kick-eel-lew-ah." It's a combination of the words ciceál, which means [to] kick, while luith means cinder.
7. Cipínaí: Grookey
Pronounced "Kip-een-ee". Uses the word cipín, which means small stick, [music] stick, and the stick that the bodhrán instrument is played with. The "nai" comes from "moncaí" which just means monkey.
8. Batanaí: Thwackey
Pronounced "Bah-teh-nee." Bata I'd another word for sticking, while the naí still comes from moncaí. (It also sounds a bit like Botany, which is the study of plants. I find that coincidence interesting).
9. Bodhráfear: Rillaboom
Pronounced "Bar-ah-far." Bodhrá comes from Bodhrán, which is an instrument that originates from Southern Galar. Fear just means man.
10. Leicag: Skwovet
Pronounced "Leh-cak." Combination of the words "leicean," meaning cheek, and "feòrag," meaning squirrel.
11. Sanntaille: Greedent
Pronounced "Sh-aunt-all-ah," (pronounce "Sh" with back of throat). Combination of the word Santach, meaning covetous, and saille, meaning fat (Kalosians might recognize that one one).

I got pokemon sword for christmas and as I'm going through Galar I'm having further thoughts on a legends: arceus style narnia pokemon au. So there are two options:
A. the Pevensies are transported back in time but stay in the Galar region. Instead of two ancient kings, it's the four siblings who help defeat Eternatus and end the darkest day. they're crowned as monarchs and later transported back to the present as in narnia canon, at their normal ages.
B. the Pevensies are transported to a fan-made pokemon region based on canon Narnia, where the legendaries are themed on summer and winter and they have to help overthrow the government and reinstate peace and a world where humans can live in harmony with pokemon. they're crowned and come home eventually as above, except none of them know that narnia is a real place until peter takes a geography class in university, because it's called something different in the modern day.

I know you're doing a whole bunch at the moment, but if you ever get time could you tell me a bit more about your world
yeah, i can do that - today's a rest day but this won't be too intensive so we good
okay, so. like i said before, we have games based off a whole lot of other worlds - the geography at least for here and the parts of your world i know are pretty similar, so the worlds probably branched off - think like. uh. not the instant kind of evolution the more general one. - more recently than ones with different geography like the mushroom kingdom.
i live in basically galar, although with more traits of kanto/johto/hoenn/sinnoh (here they're all parts of the same country) than galar has. also you know chairman rose? our government is full of dudes like him and it suuuucks
parallel to the human world is the demon world - think like. hmm. you probably heard stories about the distortion world where giratina lives? it's similar to that. demons are probably best described as our equivalent to pokemon, except the average demon is able to speak human-comprehensible language. there's a lot more of them than there are humans, but most of them are content to just chill in the demon world rather than come over here. by this point we've worked out how to coexist with them - there'll still be the occasional one who wants to cause trouble, but.
our equivalent to pokemon moves is demon magic which some humans also have access to, though generally they need external help with it. i probably could through my app if i modded the functions to actually work on my OS, but it's low priority. there isn't a defined type system in any way for demons, though spells and attacks have associated elements, and it depends on the individual what the effectiveness is.
i don't know how new demons are formed. we don't even have eggs they just show up. slushy won't tell me either.

Geography of Galar
Tumblr media
Galar is my home region, and I wanna talk about it more since there's actually multiple cultural regions of Galar. And, at some parts, even different languages! So, here's some stuff about Galar!
Languages
Just getting this out of the way. The most common language spoken in Galarian is, well, Galarian. But there are actually many different 'subcategories' of Galarian. For example, the Galarian I'm speaking is Hammerlock Galarian. But some parts will speak Lean (a language that isn't that common and is spoken and originated in the Glimwood Tangle area), while others might speak other forms of old Galarian. Keep in mind that the languages aren't as common as they used to be because the Hammerlocke kingdom colonized a lot of places. So you won't be completely lost if you visit these places and don't speak the local language.
Southern Galar
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Also called Dùaicha by locals, which doesn't really have a direct translation, but it has the old Galarian words for 'country', 'white', and 'field'. Southern Galar is mostly a farming part of Galar, where people have strong accents. The history is pretty neat, as it was once inhabited by different tribes and clans before the people of Hammerlock came and forced them away from their culture. As a lot of history passed, and Hammerlock's kingdom soon died out, the people of Southern Galar were able to gain their cultures back, but of course, there were reproductions, as a lot of their history was lost. While they mostly speak Hammerlock Galarian there, words will sometimes be different.
The people that live in the Crown Tundra tend to have heavier accents (basically the stereotypical Galarian accent you hear all the time), and tend to speak Hammerlock Galarian less.
Central Southern Galar
Tumblr media
The place I grew up! Central Southern Galar contains the 1st (first) Wild Area, Turtfield, and the 3rd most populated city in Galar, Motostoke.
The history of Motostoke is rather interesting, being founded in the 1st century and controlled by the old Hammerlock kings. But as time went on and technology started to improve, Motostoke became one of the first industrialized cities in the world!
The Wild Area tends to be different. For one, there's barely any towns there, with some houses and cottages scattered about. And since it's not near most people, they tend to speak old Souther Galarian there (which I would speak with my parents and the other people in the area I lived in). In ancient times, multiple tribes and clans lived in the area, living side-by-side with the Pokemon around them. But the people of the old clans went away for various reasons (colonization, slowly failing economies, disputes, wars, etc).
Turtfield is the second most well-known city in Central Galar 1, purely because one of the gym leaders lives there. The history is still pretty neat, with the artwork depicting the Darkest Day. It's also one of the oldest towns in Galar, still having a lot of culture involved with it.
Central Galar
Tumblr media
Hammerlocke
One of the most well-known cities in Galar, which I find interesting since it's not even the capital (Wyndon is). Being one of an old kingdom, descendants from old Hammerlocke are known as Hammerlockians Anyways, Hammerlocke is located in the center of Galar, but I wanna mention it because a lot of stuff has happened here. I can't explain the entire history of it, because I'm most likely not qualified to do that.
But Hammerlocke was a super power in the Galar region, and it managed to colonize a lot of stuff, and is one of the reasons Hammerlocke Galarian is spoken all throughout Galar, spoken in Unova, and a commonly learned second language around the world. They had a monarchy and were run by kings and a couple of queens.
Other than the colonization, Hammerlocke was also known as 'The Dragon Hunters.'' They hunted a lot of dragon types in Galar to extinction, and even as Pokemon started co existing with humans, there was still a lot of stigma around having Dragin types in or near the city, and having one could get you seriously in trouble. Hammerlock actually designed their buildings like that to scare off dragon types. There also one of the reasons Flapple and Appletun look the way they do; they had to evolve to look friendlier to NOT get killed by them!
But now, Hammerlocke is one of the safest places to own a Dragon type in Galar. The wide and expansive area of it as well as the stigma of the area disappearing had led Hammerlocke to almost completely get rid of that stigma entirely (I also like to put that on the popularity of the gym leader here. Ngl, I might've had a crush on him when I was younger).
Central Galar is also home to the second Wild Area. Even fewer people live there compared to the first Wild Area since it holds a lot more dangerous Pokemon.
West-Central Galar
Tumblr media
West-Central Galar holds the Leantír and the Creuilg area.
Leantír is the term that refers to the entire Glimwood Tangle area. The word Lea is a Galarian suffix for woodlands or a clearing. Tír is just Southern Galarian for land. The people who reside in this area are known as the Lean people. A cool thing about them is that they are one of the few groups that managed to avoid the colonization of Hammerlocke, purely because the people in Hammerlocke thought that Glimwood Tangle was too dangerous since of the Pokemon there. Because of this, the culture was able to grow free from colonization, and their language has been preserved throughout the years.
There was some stuff that happened though. Like how a guy found Indeedee 7,000 years ago in Glimwood Tangle and took them out to breed them. But another thing that isn't well known is that Leantír use to spread a lot farther than it does now, reaching all the way down to the Stow-on-Side area, and even a bit of Hammerlocke! But Hammerlocke cut down their trees and got rid of their dangerous Pokemon fairly quickly. The Pokemon of the forest than became more wary of people from Hammerlocke, and they ended up attacking any human that wasn't from deeper in the forest, which is why Hammerlocke never went that far.
Creulig is a combination of the old Galarian word for rock and blood (referring to the red-like color of the canyons). One of the largest towns there (Stow-on-side) holds a gym challenge there. It's also the only desert on Mainland Galar.
There were civilizations here in the ancient past, which were realized when old artifacts were found here. But little is known about that civilization, as the history of it only started being documented when newer people moved in.
East-Central Galar
Tumblr media
East-Central Galar holds the Nixalba area, which got its name from a forgotten language. "Nix" means snow, while "alba" means white.
The history of the area is really cool (no pun intended), with the Circhester town being around for thousands of years. Originally, Circhester was made in 60 AD, where the first settlers there used the hot springs in the area as a spa area and built their town around it. It became a really popular tourist spot, with the added gym challenge making it even more popular.
The places around it (like Spikemuth and route 8) used to be a lot colder, but climate change and global warming have made it the way it is today. Route 8 has faced a lot of weathering and erosion, which is what gives it its more rocky appearance. But ancient people of the Nixalba area lived there, giving it the ruins it has. In the Hulbury area, people have used that place as a fishing port for hundreds of years.
Northern Galar
Tumblr media
Other than the Wyndon district, Northern Galar is inhabited much because of the large mountains making it hard for people to live there. Mostly hikers, researchers, and explorers head there.
However, the history of Wyndon is really interesting. The main city itself was founded in 43 CE when the Hammerlocke kingdom was making its way around Galar. Most of the ancient tribes that lived there were wiped out, and not much is known about the tribes that resided here (which is sad).
The Isle of Armor
Tumblr media
The Isle of Armor is a subregion of Galar. Back then, a lot of immigrants from Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, and Sinnoh came here, and the culture here reflects that. This place is very popular for trainers coming here to get stronger because of the famous dojo they have here.
So yeah, that's the Galar region! Have fun with this information!
Ooc stuff
Honestly, I know this probably isn't accurate to irl UK, but I think it would just be boring to restate UK history. Plus, I don't want the world building to be EXACTLY like it is irl. For one, the game doesn't mention much colonization, and I like that idea. But it would make sense that Galar would have some colonization (it's literally the UK), But I also like the idea of different languages being more common, since it sucks that irl UK has a bunch of dying languages because of colonization. So instead, I made them have colonization, but the languages would stay semi-alive, where you would meet a lot more people that would speak them.
The Isle of Armor was based on The Isle of Man, which mostly has a Celtic history. But from what we see in the game, it has a lot of East Asian inspiration, and I wanted to reflect that here.
I purposely made the places seem bigger than they were since it's stupid to only imagine one small town in the entirety of an area. Plus, we only really see that stuff in the game because it's all we need to see. We can assume there's more people and towns there.
The old clans and tribes are supposed to be old Celtic tribes, but I couldn't think of a name to give them in the Pokemon world...

October day 8: past
Vern and Aster in their secondary school uniforms!! Info about their younger selves and the school they attended under the cut :))
Vernon has not changed much from his younger self. He has always been the responsible and kind of serious type, but was far more protective of Aster when they were in school compared to now. Would always make sure to wait for her at the end of the day so they could walk home together and help her with homework and stuff. Well liked by his classmates. Had more colour in his face as a teenager than he does in the present.
Aster used to be a quiet and reserved child, and didn’t really start to come out of her shell around people outside her immediate family until she was 14/15. At home she could be talkative and rowdy, but around classmates would struggle to socialise and make conversation. Didn’t have many friends and those she had were more like close acquaintances than genuine connections. If it wasn’t for Vernon being a doting older brother she’d have been extremely lonely as a child.
Their school had a semi-relaxed policy in that as long as the colours do not deviate too far from school colours they can wear whatever footwear they please (as long as the heel is 2 inches or less, higher heels are not allowed lol). Once students enter sixth form (yrs 12-13/final 2 years of high school) they no longer have a dress code and can dress however they want within reason.
Vaguely inspired by vocational trade schools/polytechnics and the implementation of BTEC studies that kind of replaced them in the UK (I think. Don’t quote me on that lol), the school is focussed around battling and general pokemon care and husbandry. Core subjects such as maths and science are still covered, but the idea is at around 13/14 years old students will pick a programme in their education that leads into a career with direct involvement with the care and raising of pokemon (e.g. being a gym trainer/potentially a gym leader, working in a daycare, pokemon centre, pokemon groomer, etc.). Core subjects and electives are studied alongside the chosen vocational programme until reaching sixth form where the last two years of study are devoted to vocational programmes.
Vernon already knew he’d follow in his dad’s footsteps and become a flying taxi cabbie which has its own training outside of normal education, so decided to join the pokemon grooming programme, accompanied by electives in history and geography. Total nerd that passed all his classes with flying colours and could have easily gone into grooming as a backup career. Went straight into flying taxi training and gained qualifications to become an official cabbie within a year after finishing school.
Aster had joined the battle studies programme with electives in fine art and music, but dropped out after a few months due to her success in the Galar League Gym Challenge, then abdicating her title as champion in order to travel after two months. Never finished school, doesn’t have any official qualifications beside her stint as league champion and doesn’t really like to draw attention to her lack of formal education as she finds it embarrassing.

Something else that will likely happen as part of Z-A
Our starters will be originating from three different regions but will get a Kalosian Form that also gets a Mega Evolution. Not completely ruling it out but we can probably cross off Johto,Unova, and Alola being used considering that's where the Hisui stock came from. It's probably more likely we're going to get a mix sourced from some combination of Kanto,Hoenn,Sinnoh,Galar,and/or even Paldea.
Real world geography has kind of been having fans hint for a while that there should be some linkage between Kalos and Galar.Perhaps one of these starters will give us that.

Heya! I've been thinking of sending the smol knights to Paldea with their admittedly rather reluctant carer but can't really decide on why they'd be sent over. Moreover him, Arma and Ceru specifically. I was debating on the reason being tied to the little Armarouge's relation to the Ceruledge that was on the documentary thing (boss said so if I go with this). Regardless of why they're there, they'd still end up having to go to the Academy to help teach the students what his job is and how to look after young pokemon.
I was wondering if you had any ideas and opinions since I kinda "borrowed" your story for a bit.
Cheers in advance, Skylertheminish :)
Well, we know from the anime that some Pokémon have issues when in an environment they're not used to.
Galar is much colder than Paldea and has different geography and climate. The smol knights could be experiencing health issues from this and need to return to their natural environment of Paldea for awhile.

Pokémon Geography
I've been trying to figure out the placement of all the regions in Pokémon. Here are my ideas…
First let's define the hemispheres. We know the early Pokémon regions were based off Japan. They've also based regions off of Europe and the US. In my theorizing, I'm going to assume that all of the regions are at least vaguely on the same sides of the planet as their counterparts, meaning the American-like regions are west of the European-like regions, which are themselves west of the Japan-like regions. This is basically just my headcanon, but I think it is reasonable. So here we go…
We know through game and anime lore that Kanto, Johto, Hoenn and Sinnoh are all next to each other. Kanto and Johto literally share a land border and it is implied that Sinnoh is just over the mountain range in the north. Hoenn is in the sea to the south of the other three, probably farther south than the Sevii and/or Orange Islands. I wonder what the fan consensus is about the Sevii and Orange Islands? Do they both exist? Are they two names for the same place? Do we politely pretend that one or the other doesn't exist and respectfully agree to disagree? Personally, I like to believe they both exist, with Sevii being closer to the Kantonese shore and the Orange Islands being off the coast of Johto.
We also know that Pokémon Island from the original Pokémon Snap has a ton of mons from Kanto, meaning it must be close. Fiore, Almia, and Oblivia from the Pokémon Ranger games are said to be a bit far away from Sinnoh at least, but not far away enough to have distinct mons of their own. Mons from the original four regions appear in those games, implying that they are at least in the same hemisphere. Maybe the Ranger regions are west of the original four, but not so far west as to run into Kalos? I dunno.
I think it is safe to say that the Far East of the Pokémon World consists of:
Kanto
Johto
Hoenn
Sinnoh
The Sevii and/or Orange Islands
Pokémon Island
Fiore
Almia
Oblivia
I speculate that west of these regions are the Near East regions, which are all based on European nations. Kalos likely shares it's southern border with Paldea, just as France and Iberia share a border. Galar, the Isle of Armor, and the Crown Tundra are probably close by. I find it interesting that Galar and Paldea both have dramatic meteor showers/crashes in their history at varying points, but Kalos doesn't. I don't really have any explanations - even headcanon - as to why. Where the Crown Tundra and Isle of Armor are in relation to Kalos and Galar are unclear. Is the Crown Tundra more like Iceland? Like Shetland? I don't know. Is the Isle of Armor more like Ireland, the Isle of Man, or the Channel Islands? If Paldea and Galar both get pummeled by meteors but Kalos doesn't, does that mean that Galar is closer to Paldea? Not sure.
I conclude with a reasonable amount of certainty that the Near East of the Pokémon World consists of the following, but I'm not as confident about their placements relative to each other:
Kalos
Paldea
Galar
Isle of Armor
Crown Tundra
Now we come to the Western Hemisphere. Unova is based on New York, Orre on Arizona, and Alola on Hawaii. Seems pretty reasonable to me that they'd be close to one another. Since Alola has regional variants of Kantonese mons, I think it must be placed the closest to the original four. This lines up with Hawaii being the closest American state to Japan. I feel like it is safe to conclude that Unova, Orre, and Alola are arranged geographically similar to their counterparts. Unova is west of the Near East regions, Orre is west of Unova, and Alola is west of Orre.
But then there's the Decolore Islands. It has a mix of Pokémon from the original four and Unova. So does that place it West or East of Unova? And what about Lental from New Pokémon Snap? It has mons from all over the map! Since Lental has Alolan mons and Alolan regional variants, it must be somewhat close to Alola, right?
Strong contenders for the Western Pokémon World:
Unova
Orre
Alola
Possibly Western, but may be between the West and Far East:
Lental
Could be between the West and Far East or West and Near East, it's anyone's guess:
Decolore Islands.
So that's what I have. What do you all think, fellow trainers? Do you like my theory? Have any suggested edits?

Worldbuilding June 2022 Episode 2
2. What’s the Geography of your world?
World wanderer here! I have visited many universes inhabited by the strange and wonderful creatures called Pokemon, but here I am focusing on two in particular that seem to ber closely in intertwined. I will call them Universe A (Yangverse) and Universe 1 (WAAPT) henceforth.  The geography of both surprisingly resembles that of "Earth" universes to a degree, with regions like Unova resembling New York City, or Angela resembling part California, or Galar resembling the UK. Yet there are many exceptions - the region of Ransei is shaped like a local creator deity!
Overall both worlds are Earth-shaped in places.

Welcome to the Magia Region
The only place in the Pokémon World that is native to people that can use magic similarly to some Pokemon
500 years ago, a colony of wizards were transported to the region (likely due to Palkia and Dialga shenanigans), but they chalked it up to divine intervention because they were trying to escape a band of witch hunters
They declared the region their new home and started making parts of it their own, discovering that colonies of dwarves and goblins had been transported there too before them. There had also been a few ancient civilizations whose ruins were also discovered.
The Legendaries of the region erected a magic barrier around it that prevented the ambient magic energy from escaping, except in the form of the occasional leak. The wizards erected Guard Towers over the Cornerstones that made up the barrier, ensuring their protection.
One caveat: Non-Magians that enter the region will lose their memory of ever being there after they leave through the barrier. This goes for most Pokémon as well. Only those with Magian blood are unaffected.
The ‘game’ kicks off when the barrier mysteriously goes down and the Galar region is treated to a broadcast of one of New Hogwarts’ quidditch games.
A few years later and our protagonist heads off to school in a Magia that is still adjusting to an influx of non-magic users coming in now that it’s safe to do so without memory loss
Galar is the closest canon region to it in terms of geography, so Galarians would have known something about people from Magia before the barrier went down

Hello! I’m Jack, I’m well… under 18 and I’m originally from Galar But “““recently””” (like a year or two ago… I think) moved to Dainia! If you didn’t know, Dainia is a pretty large region right above Unova(And as I just Learned as I am horrid at geography and did not know about the location of an entire region??? Orre), however it’s coast is shrouded in a literally constant snowstorm which basically made it invisible to passing ships, so it was only discovered rather recently, on a historical timescale- I’m getting off topic… anyways my pronouns are He/They and no the Hisuian growlithe isn’t actually an alpha it’s just big and likes to play so I have a joke where I call it a former alpha.
Tumblr media
Edit: I should probably explain my team better …
Fireball the Raboot: Doesn’t Want to become a Cinderace and I prefer it that way!
Floofy (Floofs) The (Hisuian) Growlithe: Boy is there a bunch to talk about Floofs; very… fluffy though (despite being literal rock)
Zappy the Pikachu: gets me some weird looks but is almost like a second partner!
Gholdengo the gholdengo: Idk man I forget even getting this one…
“Kanto” the Kingambit: Not actually named Kanto but it’s a traded mon with symbols I can’t type or pronounce! So I use the nickname Kanto.
Mr. Artistic the smeargle: it’s a gift from a friend but it’s cool.
And, though It’s not part of my team…Sket!
The Dainian rotomdex: my Pokédex! dainian rotom are basically just ghosts but also only happy while possessing something and we use ‘em to take notes cuz it’s very useful; it’s a great artist, it will sometimes join me in posts; rarely though (i “type” like this; i’m really just using a stylus)
Asks are on but none of the other stuff, those are on @dainian-trainer-communication
//more beneath Blah blah blah
//I’m not good with intros but… Yeah, I finally did it, I made a poketumblr blog, also just to clear it up Dainia is my own fakemon region based on my home and native land; Canada!
//also yes the “former alpha” thing is based on the mark alpha Pokémon get when transferred to another game. - @jackwastakenx2

⯈ Headcanon: Galar; love and hate
It's not that he hates Galar for any silly reason or simply that he just hates it for no valid reason. It's all because of the past and bad experiences, and what was once his favourite region truly became his worst.
He never really cared to get into geography and favoritism with places until he saw someone with a Dreepy while out and about when he was only six years old. He hadn't heard of such a species and instantly fell in love with it, pointing at the Pokémon and rushing over to chat with the owner who told him more. So going home later on, he was quick to ask his parents all about Galar, which soon became an obsessive topic for him, a hyper fixation in a way. He spent most of his spare time researching the region and built up a collection of gifts from his family, including posters, notebooks, plushies, toys, anything and everything, until his room was covered in all related items. He intended to one day visit and even started saving up his pocket money.
At fourteen, his life was chaotic, mainly with his mental health due to some past trauma, and he was bunking off of school on an almost daily basis to try and cope with things, hanging around all the wrong people. His parents eventually bought him a Dreepy as his first Pokémon at this age in hopes that he'd calm down and focus on the creature and himself while training. He was over the moon to have a Dreepy and did train it a lot and loved it a lot, but couldn't calm himself, and still slipped into a life worse off.
While traveling alone at nineteen, he met someone in Johto who soon became a close friend, who was his only true friend in his entire life due to his mental health and ADHD, homelife, etc, always having had him be chaotic around other people. At first, he was hostile as ever to them, but the pair soon got on and became very close, deciding to pair up and travel together. Kane confessed everything but his 'true' traumas to this person, Xander, who helped him with his identity, struggles, and everything they could touch on. Often he wanted to cry because he was so happy to have someone, and he did plan to one day speak of his traumas as a whole, but never could find the courage to talk about them. Either way, he trusted Xander with his life and vice versa, and he learned who he truly was and how to be rather happy.
At twenty, the pair went to Galar, and Kane was over the moon, his childhood obsession coming back to him the moment they hit the ground. They traversed the region and took in all the sights while training, taking on gyms, and thoroughly enjoying themselves. It was like a dream come true and Kane even said he was happy for once.
However, they later came across Rocket mass catching the Nincada on a route and, long story short, decided that it all needed to be stopped. He considered himself rather a protagonist in his deluded mind, and the pair agreed they had to do something to help the Pokémon. After a year of preparations, they invaded the base to try and free all the mons and put a stop to the experiments that were going on. And yet it all backfired. Xander was caught up by a few people and they threatened to kill them unless Kane gave in. But as he was about to raise his hands in defeat, they slit Xander's throat and killed them, which sent Kane into a mindless rage. The base was destroyed thanks to the Dynamax energies and Dragapult taking in the power, along with the Wishing star Kane had, leaving many dead and nearly everything destroyed.
He did get away with a few injuries, but the mental damage was done. He'd lost his only friend because of his recklessness and stupid ideas that he could be a hero for once. He only had himself to blame, so he said, and truly believed it was all his fault that Xander got killed and that he could've done something, anything, to save them.
Fast forward to the current year and Kane is serving Rocket as a life debt to 'pay for the destruction' he caused to the Galar base. It's a life debt and he can never pay it off. He can't even die because Rocket wants him to work until he can't anymore. A life debt is for life. Death is an easy escape. So he's always monitored and made to do horrible and even pitiful jobs while suffering immense humiliation and mental and often physical torment.
So now, when he thinks of Galar, he hates the place as it only ever brought him sorrow and pain. Just hearing the accent hurts, and he never wants to acknowledge the place exists. It's all too overwhelming.

What is this page?
It's about my personal headcanons of the way the Pokémon world is laid out. It's my version of how the geography of the Pokémon world works, and how canon and non-canon regions fit in there. A full list of regions in this headcanon can be found here: https://at.tumblr.com/pokemonregionsproject/full-list-of-regions-in-the-project/p2kzm1j37rem
The rules of the headcanon:
The Pokémon world is an alternate version of our world. While the geography can be drastically different within a region, regions correspond to a real-world place, and take that place's general shape and certain cultural elements.
Not all land is part of a Pokémon region. There are large areas of wildlands beyond the regions, that are sparsely populated by humans but inhabited by strong Pokémon that form a significant danger to anyone travelling through it.
Regions are based on either a) an island or archipelago (Hoenn, Sinnoh, Alola, Galar) or b) the area around a big city in the real world counterpart (Kanto (Tokyo), Johto (Kyoto), Unova (NYC), Kalos (Paris), Paldea (Madrid)). These areas are relatively safe and densely populated.
More populous regions are administered by a Pokémon league, but not every region follows the standard gym system. Many regions follow a more traditional structure, like Alola's island challenge. Across Europe and South America, the Championship Cup structure is extremely popular.
Conventions I use on this blog:
Canon regions I generally refer to by their canon names, but non-canon regions I generally refer to by the names of their real-world counterparts.
Submissions:
You are free to submit asks with your own headcanons about (non-canon) regions! The full list of regions can be found here, but feel free to suggest regions based on other places in the world, as long as they center on either a big city or island.
