After seeing Endgame, I am impressed how they basically did the characters justice. That being said, they left so many backdoors for themselves and places where plot can be greatly expanded. Therefore, I am eagerly awaiting the fanfic flood from the MCU (Fuck Yeah Darcy Lewis gang especially) section of AO3.

Chapters: 9/? Fandom: The Avengers (Marvel Movies), Marvel Cinematic Universe, Thor (Movies) Rating: Explicit Warnings: Creator Chose Not To Use Archive Warnings Relationships: James "Bucky" Barnes/Darcy Lewis Characters: James "Bucky" Barnes, Darcy Lewis, Steve Rogers, Thor (Marvel), Jane Foster (Marvel), Maria Hill, Nick Fury, Tony Stark, Bruce Banner, Natasha Romanov (Marvel) Additional Tags: WinterShock - Freeform, Enemies to Friends to Lovers, Slow Burn, Angst, Denial of Feelings, Hate to Love, Other Additional Tags to Be Added, So slowburn that a snail will go faster Summary:
Like a fairy tale of old, she is beauty, she is grace, and she will fuck up your face if you look at her the wrong way; she will tase you in the balls and make you fall.
That is how Darcy Lewis likes to describe herself. It rhymes as well, which she is pretty proud of. Unfortunately, it hasn’t caught on as well as she would like; she knows that Jane, for instance, uses other words to describe her. Words like sarcastic, loud, obnoxious, crude, and inappropriate—the list goes on.
Even with all of that, what's not to love? Apparently a lot, according to Bucky Barnes.

Finally did a bit of editing on a Darcy/Steve mistaken ID with Johnny Storm that has been sitting for a long time.  I just need to figure out how to finish it.....
Thinking I may use the FYDL  Cool For The Summer Aug 5th Cocktails prompt as a deadline, as they have a way of motivating me. It’s not quite vacation, but since it’s a party I figure I can maybe smudge the details a little.

FYDL Smut Week: Red-Handed
Pairing: Darcy/Jack Rollins
Word count: 583
Rating: strong M (nsfw under the cut)
Darcy is never playing Truth Or Dare with junior SHIELD agents ever again. Screw team bonding, screw tequila shots, and screw Agent Vasquez especially for coming up with the idea.
Stealing something from the scariest member of the scary-as-hell elite ops team is the kind of challenge that either makes you a legend or makes you a sad footnote in a confidential dossier. She hadn't backed down from the challenge, and she wouldn't. She is Probationary Agent Darcy Lewis, and she will complete the mission come hell or high water. But, yeah, she is never putting herself in this position again.
“In and out, Lewis,” she mutters. “You’ve trained for this. Just grab the first thing you see and get out. Easy.”
Rollins’ private bunk is two levels up from the probies’ communal bunks, and has stricter access. Darcy figured out a workaround on the locks in her second week, but this will be the first time she uses it. Of course, she could get bumped back to Level 1, or even booted from SHIELD if she gets caught by a superior.
She just won't get caught, then.
The door releases with a soft puff of hydraulics, and Darcy darts into the dark room beyond. She doesn't want to stumble into anything, so she freezes and waits for her eyes to adjust to the low light. Better to wait a few seconds than knock something over that Rollins will notice later. Anyway, she's got time: Rollins is on overnight training and his bunk is empty.
Except it isn't.
He's leaned back on his bed, and the first thing Darcy notices is the glint of the k-bar in his hand. Rollins has it poised to throw, but as she stands frozen, his arm relaxes. The knife is set on his nightstand, nothing there but the sheath and his ancient cellphone.
The next thing she notices is the way the water droplets on his skin catch the low light from his dresser lamp. Rollins’ hair is slicked back, wet. The air is damp and smells of soap. The only thing on him is the remains of his shower, and the glisten of light over every scarred, taut muscle.
The last thing she notices is the slow stroke of his other hand up the curve of his erect cock. He’s still watching her. The shot of adrenaline at being caught flips into something else, and Darcy feels her panties flood.
Darcy can’t pull her eyes away from his hand, fist moving down his cock in a languorous grip. The upstroke is even slower, and he wrings out a bead of fluid that catches the light.
“So?”
She drags her eyes up Rollins, lingering up his abs and chest and shoulders, and the shift of light as his arm keeps moving. His eyes are amused- this is the first time she’s ever seen anything but STRIKE-standard murderface on him.
“Truth or Dare,” she explains. Her throat is dry, it clicks when she swallows.
“Okay,” he drawls, “truth or dare?”
Darcy can’t help it- her eyes flick down his body. She wets her lips. “Dare.”
Rollins settles back against the head of his bunk. His hand braces his cock at the base, last two fingers spread across his balls. It curves towards his belly, and she needs to press her thighs together with how badly she wants to sit on that cock.
“Dare you to help me with this.”
She thumbs the lock shut without looking.
“Dare accepted.”

Tropical Island- FYDL Cool for the Summer Day 1
Darcy was antsy.
Partly, it was because the trip in the jet had been wrong. It was too silent, too still. Yay for the advances in modern technology, but to Darcy travel meant loud noises and strange and sudden vibrations, and obnoxious people with children spreading their trouble and misery around to everyone.  This was not that.
It might also have had something to do with the fact that Jane had kept a death grip on Darcy’s hand the whole time. Not because Jane had a fear of flying, or was hung up on the same qualms that her assistant/Intern/Best Friend Forever was suffering from. No, Jane’s pincer-like gasp of Darcy’s fingers had more to do with the fact that she had watched Darcy turn to dust, back in the Very Bad Time. Since the Avenger’s and crew had defeated Thanos and Fixed All the Things, Jane had stuck by her side, touching and checking on Darcy with  a frequency and a ferociousness that was sort of endearing, but also growing old.
She got it. She did. If the roles had been reversed and Darcy had had to watch Jane crumble to dust… well. She wasn’t sure she could have kept it together and worked to save the day, the way Jane had. Without Jane, she wouldn’t be there at all. None of the dusty ones would be.
Squeezing her friend’s hand, Darcy tried to convey all the gratitude she felt. Gratitude for Jane the Brain and her brilliant !Science, which helped bring them all back, gratitude for Jane insisting that Darcy be whisked away with her when the media frenzy had turned manic and dangerous, gratitude for Jane caring about her so much and wanting to make sure she was still there, still alive…
It was silly to be feeling so anxious, when she was getting an all-expenses paid, extended vacation to where ever the Avengers and Friends were hiding out and recovering from their epic Space crusade. If anyone deserved a little peace and quiet, it was the people who had saved the world, hell, the universe!
She was lucky to be here. In all senses of the word here.
There was a quiet hiss and then the smallest of bumps, more felt than heard, and then the back of the jet cracked open, spilling brilliant, blinding sunlight onto Jane and Darcy.
“We’re here!” called a friendly voice from the cockpit, as the clinking of metal restraints being released heralded the appearance of a cheerfully grinning Hawkeye. He’d been the one to retrieve them from the roof of the apartment complex where they’d been trapped by a horde of people demanding answers about the return of the people that had been dust in the wind for so many years.
Darcy undid her own belt and stood to stretch, relieved to have an excuse to get her hand back. “Where’s here, exactly?” she asked, having been kept in the dark on this very secret, very hush-hush, very need to know only escape attempt.
The ramp finished lowering at exactly the right moment and Hawkeye, (“Just call me Clint”), gave a well-timed flourish. “Welcome to Paradise, ladies.”
They had landed on a large cement pad, surrounded by lush jungle and verdant wildlife. Through the tops of the trees, Darcy could see the tips of roof-tops for what could be an entire village of villas. Down a small hill off to the left she could see white sand and the reflection of light off of water that appeared crystalline blue and green. There was a flash of movement and she looked up in time to see the last flickers of refraction as a shield dome filled back into place over what Darcy surmised was the entire island, if it was in fact, an island.
“Dude. I didn’t pack my suit,” she moaned and heard Clint chuckle as he pushed past her, carrying their meager luggage.
“Stark was pushing for nude beaches,” he tossed back over his shoulder, “but luckily Pepper won that argument and made sure to have plenty of clothing and equipment options for all the refugees. She’ll get you kitted out.”
The two women stood, looking mildly stunned as he marched off with their things, following a stone paved path toward the buildings in the distance.
“Wait!” Jane lurched after him, her stupor broken first. “Equipment? Does that mean there’s a lab set up here?”
Clint laughed again. “Sure, Doc.”
Darcy watched them vanish into the down a path to the right, and then turned to take the path towards what she thought would be the beach. She needed a moment to process, and the lure of the waves she could here thrumming quietly in the distance was mesmerizing.
It was a short walk, maybe a hundred yards or so through densely packed groves of coconut and banana trees with fruit hanging overhead, looking ripe and like the perfect excuse for her homemade piña coladas, and then she broke through the tree line onto the beach proper. It was like something from a scenic beaches calendar. For a moment she was afraid she’d fallen asleep on the jet ride and was dreaming this kind of perfection.
She stripped off her boots and socks and rolled up her jeans as far as they would go. The air was warm and humid, but there was enough of a breeze coming up off the water that it didn’t feel stifling. Scrunching her toes into the sand as she walked towards the water, Darcy felt all her earlier anxiety fall away.
This was so awesome! This was utterly and completely amazing! This was-
Definitely a Dream.
As if the scenery couldn’t get any better, Darcy felt her eyes widen about six sizes as a figure rose from the water in front of her. Dripping and golden, and rippling with the kind of muscles that typically needed airbrush assistance to make real, Captain America lifted his head above the waves and shook out his hair as he started stalking purposefully out of the water and onto the beach.
“Holy shit,” Darcy whispered and dropped her boots as she lost all finger strength.  “This isn’t real. I’m asleep and drooling on Jane’s shoulder right now.”
The Captain caught sight of her then and his steps faltered. She raised a hand and gave him a small, self-conscious wave. After looking her up and down briefly, he finished his trek to the spot where his towel and things were laid out in the sand. He grabbed the towel and quickly rubbed himself down before looping it around his shoulders and walking over to where Darcy stood, still gaping and staring like a giant weirdo.
“Hello, I don’t think we’ve met. You are?” he asked politely, extending a freshly dried hand in her direction.
“Oh, uh” Darcy stammered and then closed her eyes, forcing her brain to restart and her verbal skills to return in time to make a mostly coherent reply. “I’m Lewis. Darcy Lewis. Dr. Foster’s assistant.” Her hand was small in his as they shook, the coolness of the water still on his skin making her have to fight down a shiver.
“Clint’s back, then?” he asked, recognition and relief evident of his features as his careful suspicious melted away.
“Just now. He took Janey up to show her the new digs. She was particularly pleased to hear about the possibility of science,” Darcy informed the glistening Hero, jabbering away to cover how surreal and up-heaved this whole situation was making her feel.
The guy nodded, pulling his hand back. “I know the type,” he muttered, giving her half a wry smile. “Not you though?”
“Me?” she sputtered. “Nah, I just wanted to take in the view before getting settled.” Cringing inwardly at how suggestive that sounded she gestured towards the water and made a concentrated effort not to stare at the glorious man nipples perking at her at just about eye level. “I’ve always loved the ocean,” she added, sort of lamely.
Luckily, he didn’t seem to notice her awkwardness, or at least he wasn’t acknowledging it. He just turned to look back at the water and nodded again.
“Yeah. Me, too,” he said with a contented sigh.
They stood in silence, companionable and still as they both gazed at the sparkling water and frothy white waves as they curled and crested towards them.
Paradise indeed, Darcy thought.
She could get used to this.

FYDL Summer Prompts Day 1
So, because grad school owns my ass, instead of doing fics, I’m doing a take on “fics I’ll never write.” But, in this case, it’s “fics grad school won’t let me write.” Maybe I actually will write one or two later? Let me know what you think of each synopsis.
Day 1: Tropical Island
Darcy has returned home to stay with her ailing grandmother who lives in the mountains of Hawaii. She picks up a few hours a week at the small store at the coffee plantation and spends the rest of the time trying to help her grandmother come to terms with her rapidly deteriorating health. Grandma has just a few things she wants to do before she dies, and Darcy is determined to help make them happen.
One day she is leaving the grocery store and winding her way back up to her grandmother's house when she spots a man on the road. She knows everyone that lives in the area, but he doesn't look like a lost tourist. He's on foot, so she slows down and asks if he needs help. He tells her he doesn't have a particular destination in mind, that he's just worn out from an overly stressful world and is looking for a small scrap of space to take some time to breathe. She invites him to dinner, and then to stay in the small hut where her grandmother used to do pottery when she was still able. Soon he bleeds into her days in a way she wasn't expecting.
Bruce felt bad about telling Darcy his name was Mark, but then again, he hadn't been planning on even staying for dinner. But Darcy had insisted, and there was something about the way she had smiled and asked so sweetly, that he thought maybe he would be helping her out too. Besides, he had only eaten what he had been able to scavenge, and a home cooked meal actually sounded really good. When they offered up the shed, he told himself it would be just one night. But then Darcy and Grandma Violet had wormed their way under his skin. He found himself wanting to stay and help, especially when he saw how hard Darcy was working and how much she loved her grandmother. Being with them was healing him too. But he starts to wonder if he should run when he realizes that the feelings he has for Darcy are more than just friendly.
When Grandma Violet takes a sudden turn for the worse, he can't leave Darcy to face the future all on her own, and Darcy is wondering if she'll have the courage to ask for what she wants: for him to stay. Of course, there's still that pesky problem that she doesn't know who he really is, and he's terrified that she'll (rightfully) shut him out once she knows that he's been lying since the start.

FYDL Drabble-A-Thon, Day 9
Prompt: Maybes
Pairing: pre-Darcy/Steve, Darcy & Tony (Darcy is Tony’s Daughter)
Length: 905 words
Organization: Wounded Warrior Project
(warning, if anyone needs it, for cursing)
“I may have overreacted.” At her snort, Darcy’s dad looked up indignantly and pointed a challenging finger at her. “Hey, he killed your grandmother and grandfather, you know!”
With a sigh, Darcy walked over to gently wrap her arms around Tony from behind. “I know, Dad. But we both know he didn’t do it of his own free will,” she added, dropping her chin to rest on his head. His arms came up over hers, patting lightly, and she drew away. Touch still freaked him out, most days. When it came to his daughter, he tolerated it. She tried not to push his limits, though, especially when he was already struggling.
And boy, was he struggling with this. “And the Accords? Thaddeus Ross, Dad. Really?”
Scrubbing a hand over his face, he groaned. “You’re just putting all my faults on display today, aren’t you. I might’ve made a knee-jerk, hasty decision on that, too.”
“Maybe,” she said, heavy on the sarcasm. He rolled his eyes, but didn’t complain. She’d gotten her sharp tongue from him, after all. “If only you had a daughter, who—I don’t know—specializes in political science and shit like this who was ready and willing to help,” she spit, voice sharp enough to cut glass.
He cringed away from her, then changed his mind and stood his ground. Picking up the glass of liquor on his work table, he downed the amber liquid in one go. “I didn’t want you involved in this! After New Mexico, after London—”
“You didn’t think I could handle it?” she interrupted hotly, tears of anger and frustration burning at the corner of her eyes. The fear was eating away at him, she could tell. He was standing in front of her, but she felt like she was losing him with every passing second.
“No!” he exploded, reaching for the bottle to pour himself another glass. She snagged it before he could, jerking it out of his reach. He’d have this conversation as sober as possible, or she was leaving. Seeing the hard look in her eyes, he relented.
His weight sagged forward onto his elbows. He looked smaller than usual, and it broke her heart. “I wanted to keep you safe, Darcy. I just—I couldn’t seem to get anything else right. But I wanted you to be safe. I wanted to be a good dad, for once.”
“You are a good dad. You’ve always been a good dad.” But he just shook his head, not hearing her. It was, ironically, one of Tony’s greatest faults as a dad—that he never believed he was doing a good job as a parent.
Sighing, she let it go. “But I’m here now,” she said, waving a hand to encompass the penthouse of Avengers Tower. “So please, Dad, tell me how I can help.”
“There’s something shady going on,” was her dad’s spectacularly unhelpful answer. “Something bad, really fucking bad. And…” he scrubbed a hand over his face, casting a longing look at the bottle she still held out of his reach. “Fuck. I need Rogers to come back. And Barnes, too, probably.”
Darcy closed her eyes briefly. It was even worse than she thought. “I don’t think he’s gonna listen to you, Dad.” She thought about listing all the reasons why Captain Rogers wouldn’t let him come within a hundred yards, but decided against it. No need to pour salt into an open wound.
“I know, Darce. But he has to come back.” He looked at her significantly, and she finally realized why he’d asked her to meet him so suddenly, and without warning.
“Me?” she asked incredulously, pointing a finger at herself. “You want me to go get him?” At his weary nod, she said, “What happened to all that bullshit about protecting me?”
“I can’t trust anyone else to do this,” he said, looking like a man with the weight of the world on his shoulders, all sallow skin and heavy eyes. And maybe it was, for all she knew.
“Okay,” she said, reaching out to press her fingers against his. He gripped hers in turn, and she knew they’d be all right. She was still going to dump out the alcohol, though. “What do you need me to do?”
-:-
Three months later, Darcy was cursing her dad in every language she knew, plus some she didn’t.
As she looked past the barrel of the gun pointed at her, staring at the man whose face was hidden in the shadows of the building, her first reaction was guilt. Tony would never forgive himself if she died; he’d blame it all on himself.
Then the man stepped out of the darkness, and Darcy forgot all about her dad. Her sharp intake of breath gave her away, and his frown deepened. “Who the hell are you, and why are you looking for Steve Rogers?” he growled.
Nice try, buddy. She’d recognize that baritone anywhere. “Oh,” was her clever response. And then her mouth caught up—well before her brain, as usual. “No wonder you’re so hard to track down,” she said, gesturing at his full beard and unruly hair.
Confusion flickered in his eyes, but he stepped forward threateningly. She tossed him a winning smile, catching him off-guard. “Captain Steven Grant Rogers,” she said in her most polite voice, ignoring the gun that was still pointed at her head, “we need to talk.”
(so this turned into an idea with a real plot and I’m thinking about turning it into a full-blown fic, if there’s enough interest.)

FYDL Drabble-a-thon -
Prompt: Dangerous Territory
Charity:   Amnesty International, working to protect people wherever justice, freedom, truth, and dignity are denied.
995 Words
-Violence.
Darcy understood hostile political undercurrents and had good survival instincts.
Jane’s work- once dismissed as fanciful, and more recently exalted- now tread on dangerous territory. Her sometime lover’s name was next to an unsigned line in the Sokovia Accords. Jane testified about Thor’s return to Asgard.
For a time, Jane and Darcy worked in undisturbed peace. But after some Avengers were arrested, rumbles from Secretary Ross and his allies darkened.
So, Darcy set alarms along the perimeter and monitors on all routes to the labs. She bought an extra Taser. Her phone and Jane’s had friends of Thor on speed dial.
It wasn’t enough.
Darcy forced Jane into the hidden room.  Inside, Jane shrieked Darcy’s name as she dialed Tony Stark.
When the door was finally wrenched open by Iron Man and Vision, Jane shoved past them, crying, “Darcy!”
There was no answer.  Equipment was broken or missing. Computers were gone. So was Darcy.  A broken Taser lay on the floor.
Jane faced the others, furious.  “What happened to Darcy?”
Tony Stark looked grim. Vision stepped forward.  “We will help you find answers, Dr. Foster.”
Jane glared.  “I want Darcy back. NOW.”
For the first time, Tony reached for the crappy phone he’d been sent.
---
Darcy’s heart clenched with fear after she forced Jane into the secret, Thor-tested, impenetrable safe room.  Jane and her work backups were secure.  Darcy stumbled to the computers to delete files.
As the sound of boots grew louder, Darcy entered the fake safe room.  Too soon, explosions rocked it.  Darcy got off a Taser shot at the attackers before they took her.  She fought to protect her face and body as they slammed her to the ground.  The copper taste of blood filled her mouth and Darcy blacked out.
---
Darcy woke in a stark cell with an icy-cold concrete floor.  Dim light came through bars on a small ‘window’ into white space.  The dark corridor outside the cell door seemed endless.
She sat up, groaning. She was bruised and bloody, with a throbbing ankle and aching arms, but nothing broken.  Darcy crawled to the bunk.  There was a thin mattress that provided a cloth barrier against the hard surface. Her stomach rumbled, the only sound in the room. Darcy pressed her fingers under her arms for warmth and fought her fears.
Hours passed.
---
Darcy’s eyes flew open. Heavy footsteps approached.  She prayed- for them not to hurt her, for her to live. Determined not to cower, she uncurled with feet touching the ground and hands flat in her lap. Darcy stared at the door.
Someone came closer.
A large man stepped into the dim light.  “Miss Lewis?” He sported a beard and wore dark clothing.
Darcy nodded uncertainly.
He evaluated the cell door, stood back, and ripped it open.  Darcy’s heart nearly stopped.
“You okay?”  He stopped.  “I’m… Steve Rogers.”
Darcy let out a shaky breath, voice tense.  “Oh, God! I thought you were one of them.”
His expression softened. “I’m sorry to frighten you.”
She blinked back tears. “Tell Jane that I cussed you like a defiant badass.  ‘K? Make me look good?”
His smile warmed her. “Sure.  You’re doin’ great.”  He scowled as he looked around.  “Want out?”
Darcy nodded.
“Can you walk?”
She tried to put weight on her ankle.  “Not well.”
“Okay.”  He swept her up bridal style and activated a comm.  “Got her.  Need backup while I carry her out.”  He tightened his hold as she shivered.  “You’re okay, Miss.” He hurried down the dark hall.
She leaned her head against his chest, remembering watching footage of Captain America on the news and admiring his physique.  “Jane’s gonna be pissed. She’ll forgive me since I kept them from getting her work, but she’s gonna be pissed.”
Steve rumbled, “She terrified Tony so much he called me.  You’re right.”
Darcy’s voice bounced with his steps.  “Call me Darcy.”
“Nice to meet you, Darcy.” He ran, but talked easily. “I’m impressed. You protected your friend. Brave.” She hid her face against his chest as she lost her battle against tears.  He felt it and soothed, “S’okay.  We won’t let anything happen to you.”
Black Widow piloted the Quinjet.  Sam Wilson stowed his gear and sat by her.  Steve sat with Darcy, keeping up a flow of reassuring chatter.
Darcy tried not to stare at his handsome face. She wasn’t sure what amused his companions, and was too tired to ask.  She fell asleep leaning against Steve’s shoulder, grateful that he didn’t mind the way she held onto his hand.
---
“Darcy!”  Jane’s voice shrilled as Steve carried Darcy to the makeshift med bay.
Darcy’s smile was wan. “Hi, Janie.”
“You’re hurt,” Jane sobbed.
Steve offered, “she’s really brave.”
Jane’s lips trembled, “stupid to risk yourself.  They might’ve killed you!”
Darcy giggled weakly. “Is it a good time to ask for a raise?” Steve chuckled.
Black Widow looked Darcy over.  “Let me get her cleaned up, Rogers.  You can flirt more later.”
Steve blushed as he stepped away.  Darcy managed to whisper, “thanks.”  He nodded to them and stepped out of the room.
Darcy hissed as Black Widow began to clean wounds, then queried, “flirt?  Are you crazy? Him? With me?”
Black Widow worked efficiently.  “I’ve known him for five years and never seen him chat with a woman like with you.  He was flirting.”  She smiled.  “He’s a nice guy.  You should give him a chance.”
Darcy blinked in pleased surprise.
Jane squeezed her hand. “He’d be lucky to know you.  I am.”
Darcy shook her head. “You’re just trying to cushion to blow of us losing our salaries and stuff.” She mourned, “My phone!”
Steve leaned into the room again.  “I forgot to mention I recovered your phone and the doctor’s stolen equipment at that base.” He handed Darcy her phone and left again.
Jane grinned.  “Marry him.”
Darcy ducked her head. “You’ve had worse ideas.”
Down the hall, Steve Rogers smiled.
