A topic I devoted a lot of time to in my PhD and postdoc work (where I wasn't allowed to publish), a topic I was repeatedly told was low-value, that were not worth pursuing, just ended up getting a Nature paper. I have work on it going back to 2013. I have way better results on it going back to 2018 when I wasn't allowed to publish.

This is bringing up a number of feelings about my PIs that are not politic to bring up on this blog. I'm just remembering the common advice I kept getting, on multiple topics:

"This work is too low value. You should think of something more high value and pursue that."

Was heading to lunch and I overheard a guy stocking the dairy section say something about people and their silly little masks as I walked by and I'm so fucking furious I'm shaking. It didn't register right away or I would have stopped and told him off, and I had to stop myself from going back.
