I am still taking them! Sorry it took so long, took some time to decide who would be most interesting to answer this one. So here's Giliys's thoughts on Agria (whom he has nicknamed 'Threads' because Giliys can't just call people by their names like a normal person, I'm so sorry).

"Threads? Well. I think I'd have liked her better if we met before the fifth crusade. I know she's got rich family, but she doesn't really count as nobility. I mean, she coulda stayed in Brevoy and tried to blend in with with the fancy Lebedas, sucked up to them, tried to marry up, but she didn't. She went and said she was part of a people with no home scattered all over Avistan, and when she realized their culture had been stolen from them, she went and said she'd steal it back. That takes guts.

"But then Areelu fucking Vorlesh got ahold of her, and - " Giliys stops himself, face taut with rage. He closes his eyes and takes a deep breath. "Look. I know most people think I don't have a conscience cuz it's calibrated different than most. But I do know this: the worst, most unforgivale things you can do to someone are the things that hurt the soul. And I know, I know, I done plenty of that in my time, but I also know it's fucked up. What Areelu Vorlesh did was un-fucking-forgivable. And Threads did her best to pick up the pieces and stitch herself back together, but...she decided not to fix what she did to her, didn't she? I don't know if she didn't think it was possible or if she actually thought she was better off for it, but either way - I mean - that's not something you choose if your soul is whole.

"So yeah. It's funny, I don't have a problem with her having magic powers from the Abyss. But the power she has as knight-commander...yeah, that's the kind of thing that twists you up inside, makes you into something else. Something that can't be fixed. And I hope Galfrey rots for pushing her into that when she was already torn up inside by Vorlesh."

Excellent taste in clothing. You know, it seems kind of paradoxical to be driven to become a Desnan, but with Ags it’s not forced. She doesn’t seem to know she already has it. The shine.

I really get the part about holding yourself to high standards so it would be kind of hypocritical of me to tell her to give herself a break. Well, ok, I give myself a lot of breaks. But Ags doesn’t, and I really admire that. She puts all of herself into everything she does, and the result is better than she thinks it is. Well, her baking—it’s not bad.

I love when she comes by the Half Measure when I play because she doesn’t let me get away with anything and she has definite opinions on what I should and shouldn’t be playing next. Totally worth humoring her when you get that fiery, complicit smile though. And if you can get her to laugh? The whole world lights up.

I can’t stop drawing these two and I ain’t even written anything about them 😫 so here’s a bit of a breakdown.

Tapper (Clone OC)

He’s not a defective clone but he’s smaller than the rest and his voice is quieter and not as rough as the others. He is the leader of the 708th legion under General Jura and Commander Agria Dar (Jedi and Padawan OCs.). On a mission to accompany a Senator, Kala San (more later), the two become close friends. Upon a second time being the Senator’s company, they fall in love and later marry in secret, much like Anakin and Padmé. With the help of Ruth and Agria he gets his inhibitor chip removed during order 66. They eventually leave to help the clone rebellion.

Kala San (Senator OC)

A Senator from Be'rael, she was very vocal about the clones having rights, but was always drowned out by the rest of the senate. If she has a cause, you can bet she is passionate. Though she learned some self defense as a teenager, Tapper teaches her combat skills that later allow her to help the rebels. She’s very good at getting hurt, which causes Tapper to be a perpetual basketcase. She is sort of the equivalent of a prequels Leia.

do you have any ocs please tell me about them in as much detail as you'd like

Since I'm working on a series I hope to publish one day, I do indeed have OCs. Nothing but OCs in that series. OCs for days and nights and some more days thereafter.

Since the series involves three sets of three characters (with interweaving plot points across a continent-spanning empire), we'd be here all day if I said as much as I'd like about each one. In fact, we'd be reading the book.So I'll give a quick summary: who they are, what they do, and why.

THE BOYS

Domwyn (21), a roving minstrel who goes from town to town performing for room and board and tips at inns. He was born with the rare ability to see and speak with spirits, which would see him condemned as a sorcerer if anyone found out. All he wants is to be free and safe, so he keeps wandering, reluctantly helping spirits when he must. At least, until a handsome abd ecxentric young man discovers his secret ...

Plow (23), a student of archaeology and history working on a doctorate project by excavating one of the many sites of ruins on the Continent. Finding out Domwyn can unlock a magic seal in them (because of his sorcerous abilities) is the most exciting discovery of the century (in his opinion), and he immediately dragoons Domwyn into being his ruin-exploring assistant. What world-shattering secrets will they discover?

Moose (36), Plow's cousin and a member of the local militia that protects the town from bandits and monstrous beasts. Currently, he's on off time and using it to make sure his cousin doesn't get himself eaten by a giant spider or something while geeking out over pottery shards and other artefacts. He'd much rather be playing with his daughter and making kissy faces with his wife, though.

THE LADIES

Maeve (23), Plow's twin sister and a secret agent working for the local princess against the continental empire. Her cover is that she's the lead of a famous performing troupe, which gets her invited into high society locales where she and her team can spy out gocernment secrets. One of the things she enjoys as much as performing ... is knitting. Oh, and also making love to the princess.

Sweets (24), a political hostage taken as a young girl to keep her noble father loyal to the empire, she was practically raised with Maeve and Plow. She now works as part of Maeve's performing and spy group to help both the local princess *and* her father's house ... and especially her best friend, Maeve. One of her talents is makeup and costume design, which makes her a competsnt master of disguise. She can and will kick a bitch through a wall if that bitch annoys her, though.

Agria (24), an aspiring knight, she's a member of the local milita receiving special training for leadership when recruited by Maeve to join her spy ring. Why? Because of her photographic memory, which would allow the spies to take information from documents without stealing them, leaving their targets none the wiser. She agrees to do this to win favor with the princess, advancing her career towards knighthood. She has some complicated religious beliefs.

THE ASSASSINS

Masque (?), a shapeshifting assassin who fears Death itself is after them, and the only way to keep Death from catching them is to offer up others (the more important and social upheaval inducing, the better). They're fascinated by their reluctant partners' weapons, and also their personalities, and also that neither one can leave because Masque has got all sorts of leverage!

Nomiv (20), a former militia recruit (basically cop) who accidentally got himself bonded to a sword capable of cutting through anything (even souls) while trying to apprehend Masque during an assassination of a government official. Now everyone thinks he died while betraying his government, and Masque is extorting him to help with further assassinations. He just wants to do good, but doesn't know what that means anymore as his simplistic, moralizing worldview shatters before him. And it doesn't help that the sword wants him to kill ...

Uma (31), a prisoner indentured out to a rich engineer now on the run after being framed for his murder. She pioneered a new type of firearm (a revolver with prepacked bullets instead of flintlock pistols) which could revolutionize warfare and neutralize the combat supremacy of mages if anyone else got their hands on it. But all she wants is to disappear somewhere she can continue her research in peace and freedom. Unfortunately, that'll be hard to do with the magic collar around her neck. If only someone could cut through it without killing her ...

💍 RING — does your oc have any piercings? do they want any (more) piercings?

Agria: Nope! I think she would have tried to pierce her ears at least twice, though: once by her mom when she was a little kid and once by her aunt when she's twenty. She lets the piercings grow over as soon as the novelty wears off both times.

Clemency: Absolutely! Clem has three piercings to each ear, one to her nose, and two to her lower lip. As a consummate middle child, I like to imagine Rion and Jord did her first piercing with like a nail, some ice, and an orange. Jaheira is beside herself.

🤔 THINKING FACE — what are some of your oc's quirks/mannerisms?

Agria: A compulsive need to always be doing something with her hands. She doodles, practices casting motions, and when all else fails, picks her nails viciously.

Clem: Counting. Clem counts everything there is to count. Cobblestones, stair steps, ceiling tiles. You name it, she's counting it.

🧐 FACE WITH MONOCLE — is your oc more logical or emotional?

Agria: Emotional. She's someone who is very analytical and thinks logically, but ultimately she is guided intuitively by her feelings.

Clem: Logical. Being in deep cover with the Harpers for as long as she has has lead her to consider her every move very carefully. She tries her best to be a wallflower and save her

💘 HEART WITH ARROW — what and/or who do(es) your oc consider the most important to them?

Agria: On top of her aunt and cousin, she is profoundly attached to her inner circle. She fully expects to be in Lann's wedding or sit on a rocking chair on the porch with Seelah once they're old. As someone who has historically shied away from real emotional connection, she can't get enough of it once she has it.

Clem: She comes into the game in a pretty profound state of loneliness. She hasn't seen her family or had a real friend in years. That and the tadpole business leads to her adopting the party real quickly. They are all on the team, even when they get on her nerves.

Hi!! I love your final fantasy tactics fanfics. What is your thought process when writing? How do you try to interweave your own headcanons with the game’s lore? Do you like playing any other strategy rpgs? :)

Thanks so much for letting me know you like my work!

To answer your questions: My thought process when I'm composing is generally shaped by the circumstances of the composition. A lot of my fic was made in relation to prompts (from twitter, from friends, for exchanges/fests), and I find that when I'm writing under constraint I tend to have a lot of cool and unexpected ideas that I later incorporate into my personal take on the canon (I came up with a ton of my characterization for my forever faves the older Beoulves this way as well as basically everything about my functional OC Rad). Longer stuff generally coalesces from scenarios/thoughts that have been tossing about in my mind for a while, and it often gets scoped down a little so that I can ensure I actually put it out in the world instead of having it sit in drafts forever. "Let Your Curse Be On Me" and "The Cuckoo" both had their seeds as mods I daydreamed about making. "Contempt's Bloom is Forever" actually has about 6K words I drafted before I decided to re-render it as a double drabble sequence. When I actually sit down to compose write, I think a lot about literary moments I like, moments in my life I found emotional, and whatever earworm is caught in my head. I have many many incomplete playlists that I jam to for certain scenarios/characters.

When it comes to mixing headcanon and canon, I tend to see what's portrayed in the game setting up some boundaries of characterization I can push up against but never quite pass. I can make Dycedarg sympathetic but I can't make him good. Wiegraf can become softer but he can't become servile. I love that a game with so many detailed infodumps still has big gaps in its lore that fic authors can fill out, and I try to take advantage of them. I love speculating about the Fifty Years War and how it fucked everyone up, and my favorite characters to write about are almost all NPCs and enemies. I honestly find much of the main party a little hard to handle, given that they're front and center while remaining so full of ambiguity. It's perfectly possible to have Agrias or Cid die and crystalize in your first random battle after they join up and the end of the game won't change for it; there's not a perfectly clear sense as to what end they're trending towards. With characters whose arcs are small but have clear ends, I feel like I have a lot more room to expand and a lot more guidance as to where I'm going--so a lot of the ideas I develop start with the game's cast of doomed boss fights. Overall, a lot of my headcanons have developed and grown more calcified over time (I have a hugely dorky pre-canon timeline I made laid out as a spread sheet with various major characters' progressions) and at this point, I just sort of treat them as an established part of what FFT era Ivalice is for me.

As for other strategy RPGS… er… I have plans to actually play non-FFT ones (TO: LUCT's high on the list) when I finally get my doctorate and the mythical free time being post-defense will possibly get me. I have a lot of plans for then. We'll see how I'm hanging onto them next year.

2. STRANGE FACT ABOUT YOURSELF:  I don’t dream that often, actually. And no, it’s not a lack of sleep thing. I just don’t dream much. When I do though... I vividly remember it-- or most of it. 

3. TOP THREE PHYSICAL THINGS YOU FIND ATTRACTIVE ON A PERSON:  The more dapper (and hygienic) you look, the more I’ll probably appreciate your sense of fashion. Ask my friends; I appreciate a certain aesthetic that could be described as... foppish.... 

4. A FOOD YOU COULD EAT FOREVER AND NOT GET BORED OF:  oatmeal creme pies. apparently one time I bought a whole box of them and ate them non-stop when I was badly sick because I told my mom I couldn’t eat anything else. i never found out if I was wrong or not though...

5. A FOOD YOU HATE:  Something my mom made called ‘sweet rice’  It’s basically white rice cooked a certain way and made to be a bit... well... sweet... but it just makes me sick. I hate it. 

6. GUILTY PLEASURE:  Take your pick: AUs, crackships that become REAL ships to me because I can’t get them out of my head, or “I won’t make gen2 kids for this pairing. I will not. I refu-- dammit” 

7. WHAT DO YOU SLEEP IN:  Shorts and a light shirt. I turn in my sleep, so loose clothing is essential. 

8. SERIOUS RELATIONSHIPS OR FLINGS:  Serious relationship, but I’m not sure about that even.

That guy in no uncertain terms acts loathsome towards Rapha and even Marach once you think about it. I won’t spoil the story if you’ve never played Tactics in either form but... ugh. Gross. Get him out of here. 

26. FANDOM THAT YOU WERE ONCE A PART OF BUT AREN’T ANY LONGER:  that would have to be Harry Potter. I rode on the craze wave back in junior high/high school, but once I left high school and went to college my love... kind of dimmed. I can’t tell you if it’s because Rowling’s writing has fallen off majorly or because my interests simply changed.

For a brief moment you see a ghost of a smile on Zrise’s face, before he catches himself and he rolls his eyes, “Spitfire. There’s a reason I call her that.” He sighs displeased to be answering, “She’s hard to describe. Both charming and incredibly annoying. It sounds contradictory but it’s not.” Ending the sentence flat and matter of factly. Almost in defiance of the question.

He waits a beat before continuing glancing off to the left. Attempting to sound as indifferent as possible, “We have some things in common. I guess...” He covers the beginning of a laugh with a cough, “She’s irritatingly stubborn.”

Zrise fidgets scratching the back of of his head. As if admitting this part hurts his pride, “If there’s anyone who can both drive me completely insane and challenge me to do better… it’d be Agria.”

Gonna do the 30 Days of Fanfic Meme! I’m a bit late starting so I’ll do the first five days at once :3

(If anyone else wants to do it, the prompts are posted once a day in the tag.)

Day 1 - How did you get into fanfic?

- How did you first get into writing fanfic, and what was the first fandom you wrote for? What do you think it was about that fandom that pulled you in?

So, writing. Technically, I started as a child, imagining scenarios with a friend and sometimes writing some things down. But actual fanfic writing started like... 16-ish years ago? It was a Naruto fic, posted on FFnet. I never finished it and eventually took it down when I realized I wouldn’t finish it. I think I started it because I was discovering fanfic at that time, reading a lot of Naruto and HP stuff, and wanted to try writing too. I wrote like two one-shots too, those are still up.

Then I abandoned any writing endeavour, until the lack of Gaiwin contents pushed me to try again in 2013. In English this time because no one reads Tales fics in my mother tongue orz. I gave up writing again for a while, but now I’m back full force and actually making a lot of progress.

Day 2 - What fandoms have you written in?

- Name the fandoms you’ve written in, how much you’ve written in those fandoms, and if you still write in them.

(Counting only published stuff for the stats:)

Naruto: 1,990 words total (not counting the fic I took down since I lost all trace of it)

Natsume Yuujinchou: 3,842 words (it was a one-shot for an exchange)

Tales of Xillia: 55,883 words (2 wips and 18 one-shots)

Xillia’s the only one I write for. And almost always the same characters xD

Day 3 - Favorite characters?

- For each of the fandoms you have written in, what were/are your favourite characters to write? Why were these characters your favourite? (Can be main, side, established, or original!)

Gaius and Wingul of course! They’re the reason I started writing again to begin with. I love the ship too much XD

Agria and Leia are pretty fun and easy to write, though.

Day 4 - Muse/special character?

- Do you have a ‘muse’ character(s), that speaks to you more than others, or that tries to push their way in, even when the fic isn’t about them? Who are they, and why did that character(s) became your muse? Are they a canon character or an OC?

idk... I tend to gravitate toward Wingul’s pov, though the most recent wip is all Gaius’.

Day 5 - Envisioning characters?

- Do you have techniques you use to help you visualise a character, such as picrews, faceclaims, moodboards, or fanart? Have you commissioned or created art to go with your fics, or provided references (picrews, faceclaims etc) for readers or yourself?

Oh yeah, I sometimes need to “see” stuff, especially room layouts lol, which is why I sometimes try (and fail) to doodle their houses. As for characters, I’d really like to draw or commission fanart of what the characters look like in my fics, especially my OC’s. I should get to that one day...

Finished that Butterfly Sonic OC. Haven’t decided a name yet? 

She’s super smart and tends to get embroiled in adventures entirely because she was curious about something. Her main technique is she can weaponize the scales of her wings, which she sheds as she flaps her wings. 

That is, she can fly, but unlike Tails, who flies as you hold the button, she gains a little height every time you flap her wings. But she can only flap X amount of times before resting. She can also cling to walls, though she can’t climb them.

I haven’t decided how to balance her yet, but I know most of the questions I’ll need to answer for that. (How many times can she flap before being tired? Does the number reset when you cling to a wall? Can she fly as high/far as Tails? Can she get as far as Knuckles? Farther/Higher?)

For a beginning guess, though, she probably can’t get as high as Tails (since his ONLY movement skill is his flight) and she probably gets tired pretty quick to make that happen (2-4 flaps?) which would also mean she can’t go as far as Knuckles.

As for the wall cling resetting her count, I wanna say it does if only to give her access to some Knuckles or Tails areas via careful wall-flight. And she can get her own Mirage Saloon Act 1? Hm.

She’s also really good friends with Amy. They’re actually pen pals, with this girl coming from [Sonic world equivalent of England]. 

Her coloring was also accidentally a lot like the Agrias Butterfly, so if you have to pick a specific butterfly, she might be that. Or the Morpho Butterfly, which more consciously inspired her coloration.

Thank you for asking, Kit!! I had too much fun, and some of these went a little long.

🍑: What sort of traits does your OC look for in a Significant Other?

Ooooh, I love this question for Agria because I think there are layers to exactly what she's conscious of being attracted to! If you asked her, she'd say something like someone can laugh and bicker with, but what I think she really means is someone with a strong enough personality that theirs can hold up against hers.

She looks for things she has in common with people, but what really catches her interest is a perspective that's different from hers, one she doesn't immediately understand. That curiosity is what instantly draws her to some people over others.

She's not lying about the laughing and bickering, though. Arguing is genuinely fun for her; she has absolutely no issues disagreeing with someone--playfully or seriously--and going right back to being best friends after, debate club loser that she is. It's all about the love of the game, and it proves to her that the relationship is strong enough to survive not agreeing 100% of the time.

That nugget specifically is something she's not really consciously aware of: she's allergic to vulnerability and can't quite admit to herself that she really, really wants to know that people will stick with her even when the good times stop rolling. Shame she'll never ask!

🎂: Has your OC have any contradictory interests or traits to the first preception people have of the? How do they surprise people?

Answered here, but Agria is a contrary enough sort that I think I can come up with another! Despite the azata powers and her entire aesthetic, Agria is an awful gardener. At all times, she wants to do too much. All her plants get root rot from over-watering, and someone should call CPS on her for it.

🍕: How does an OC spend a lazy day?

CRYING you are so right, Kit!! I think it takes Agria a long time to really feel comfortable taking days to herself. "Once you slow down, you're not special anymore," and all that. Once she does, though, I think she finds joy in trying things without having an actual purpose or a pathological need to be good at them. She makes everyone go to ceramics class because she found a coupon online. She makes everyone play ultimate frisbee. She makes Woljif go on hikes with her that he hates only slightly less than he loves her. Things of that nature.
