Several Sentences Sunday
Fanonwriter2023 on AO3
Where CANON and FANON collide!
I haven’t posted a Seven Several Sentences Sunday in weeks but I have posted several Buddie fanfics since the hiatus began.
The sentences below are from a new fic I started writing today and I’m super excited about it.  This will be my FANON speculation journey for Buck and Eddie and The Buckley-Diaz Family in season 7. After 6x18 aired, I mentioned in a blog post that I will not post any CANON blogs that include speculations for the upcoming season but in that same post I indicated that I would include season 7 speculation in my fanfics.  Hence the reason for this new fic that I’m currently writing.
Please note: By the end of season 6, there were a lot of CANON “implications” about Eddie dating again that didn’t make any narrative sense along with Buck’s 1,001 storylines that weren’t concluded and it made everything about the completion of their arcs feel rushed and discombobulated.  There were too many unanswered questions with regards to Buck and Eddie, Eddie and Chris, Buck and Chris and The Buckley-Diaz Family for me to ignore.  Therefore, I’m writing this multi-chapter fic as a creative way to expound on the implications I found within their unfinished storylines because it’ll help me make sense of whatever the Frick Frack the showrunner(s) epically failed at with their sloppy execution at attempting to close their arcs at the end of 6x18 “Pay it Forward”.  Both the characters of Buck and Eddie and the actors OS and RG DESERVE BETTER than a season 4 redux of one-dimensional love interests and unimaginative storylines so my plan for this fic is to give them the Happy Ending they deserve and the one a lot of the audience hopes to still see.
I’m writing this fic to unravel the unnecessary ridiculousness of the things that were included in 6x14 – 6x18 for Buck, Eddie and Chris.  It’s therapeutic and I can’t wait to keep working on it.
____________________
“Eddie?”  Buck whispers.
Even though he’d prefer to rush this to find out what’s going on, he patiently waits for Buck to continue.
Buck whispers, “Eddie? I thought I could fix it.”
“Fix what Buck?”
Buck shakes his head from side to side like he’s saying no to someone but Eddie doesn’t remove his hands as he continues to hold onto Buck’s face.
“I thought I could fix everything that I—I… couldn’t fix with Daniel by donating my sperm so they could have a baby.”
Eddie raises his eyebrows since he’s confused because the last thing Buck told the team was that he delivered Connor and Kameron’s baby on the couch Margaret bought for him and Buck took the death doula or whatever with him when he went to buy a new couch. Buck also said the baby was fine and healthy so he needs for Buck to tell him more so he’ll know how to help him.
A gut-wrenching sob escapes Buck’s mouth and he starts shaking. He falls forward and almost hits the pavement but Eddie catches him.
“After the baby was born…”  Buck speaks through heavy and loud sobs.  “I—I thought my parents would finally see me but they… they…”  He inhales a deep sob, then through bated breaths, he cries and admits, “They didn’t tell me about it.”
“Buck?  What didn’t they tell you?”
“That I—I… I can’t have kids!”

We’ll be down for dessert

Robin was nervous, like insanely stupidly dumb nervous.
“Steve, I don’t think I can do it” she blurted out as she sorted through the VHS-tapes in front of her.
“You have like 14 tapes left Rob, it’s nothing” Steve said, only glancing up from where he was standing, behind the counter.
“It’s not that, dingus… I don’t think I can have dinner with the Wheelers on Sunday” She admitted.
Nancy had invited her to come over for Easter dinner to meet her parents. Robin had agreed, but now doubt was starting to get to her, she grew nervous. What if they didn’t like her? Nancy had reassured her a million and one times, it would be fine. Robin knew that it would be fine, but the though of meeting Karen and Ted Wheeler still made her feel squeamish.
“you`ll do fine.” Steve said, certain. “you know they really aren´t hard to charm, you know when I dated Nance..”
Robin cut him off as soon as he said it.
“woah dude, don´t make it weird.” Robin said, shoving tapes into the shelves.
“I’m not making it weird, you know I have no romantic feelings for Nance.” Steve said, hand on his hips, proofing his point. “Plus, she loves you a lot”
“It's not that, it’s just that I’m not a meet-the-parents type of girlfriend, I'm more a hide-in-your-closet-no-pun-intended type of girlfriend.” Robin rambled, tapes on her cart long fortgotten, as she turned towards Steve.
“Like I said Robin, you’ll do fine.” he said. “I brought some flowers for Mrs. Wheeler  the first time I met them, and she was putty in my hands, I promise you that and Mr Wheeler isn’t much to worry about, he just..like, sits places. He’s talking furniture basically. “
Robin wanted to groan at Steve's non intentional ignorance. Of course they loved him, everyone and their fricking pets loved ex jock, Steve Harrington. He needed to realise that it wasn't always the same for queer bandgeek, Robin Buckley.
“Steve, of course they loved you. “ she started, voice laced with both annoyance and worry. “When your daughter brings home the schools most popular jock, you love that guy. But when the same daughter brings home a neurodivergent lesbian, it’s a different story.”
Steve didn’t reply to the ramble. Robin knew why, he couldn't deny the statement.
Nance could sense the anxiety radiating from Robin as she opened the door that Easter Sunday. Nancy could tell with a single glance that Robin dressed for the occasion.
It was the bra, the blouse, the exaggerated blush on her cheeks, the bouquet of tulips she clutched tightly in her hand and the low heels on her feet.
She could see that Robin was dressed to impress.
Nancy saw right through it, but decided to not comment on it right away.
"Hello gorgeous!" she said and pressed a peck to Robin´s lips. Robin didn’t participate much in the kiss, her eyes were busy darting around the hallway of the wheeler house, as if she was scared to get caught. “Are you okay, baby?”
“Uhm, yeah,” Robin said, not wanting to burden Nance with her worries. “ I’m fine.”
Nancy cocked her eyebrow in disbelief,
“Do you need to take a minute up in my room?” Nancy asked. She slid her hand down Robins arm and took her hand.
Robin nodded and Nancy was dragged her up the stairs.
Robin felt herself let out a breath as Nancy closed the door behind her.
“Now what´s the matter sweetie?” Nancy said, puling Robin to sit onto the bed with her.
“What if they don’t like me Nance” Robin said, voice small and insecure.
Nancys heart broke at the sight of the woman infront of her. Her baby, the woman of her dream and desires, looking so incredibly insecure of herself.
“Robin baby look at me.” Nancy said, placing a hand on her thigh. “ you have nothing to worry about. They are excited to meet you, nothing else.”
“It’s just.. I’m so different from all the other people you’ve dated” Robin said, leaning a little close to Nance. “I’m afraid that I wont measure up.”
Nancy heart all but broke at the words that her girlfriend had just said.
“You are enough for me,” Nancy said, pressing a loving kiss to the apple of Robin's cheek, “and that’s all that matters.”
Robin melted briefly into the touch of her loved one and just enjoyed it. It wasn’t like it made all her worries fade away, but it did make her feel like her heart pounded a little bit slower at that moment.
The two stayed quiet for a while, finding comfort in each other's arms.
Nance was first to break the silence.
“You brought flowers?”
Robin blushed at the question.
“Yeah.,.” She admitted, “Steve advised me too”
“Of course he did” Nancy said and laughed a little,
Robin couldn’t help but laugh along with her.
“Do you think you’re ready to go downstairs?” Nancy asked and swiped a lock of hair from Robin's face.
“Yeah,” Robin said, reeling herself up with confidence she didn’t actually have. “I probably won’t get more ready than this”
Nancy led Robin by the hand into the kitchen where her whole family was.
Karen was by the stove, transferring food from pots to serving dishes, Mike was sat upon the counter sneaking a taste of just about anything that his mother was serving when she had her back turned.
Holly had her papers and pencils out drawing to her heart’s content.
On a chair at the already set table, flipping through a paper was Ted. Robin almost laughed, as she remembered the way Steve had described the man.
He really did just sit places.
“Okay guys this is Robin.” Nancy announced as they walked into view.
Robin found herself almost letting go of Nancy's hand, but she regretted her thoughts at the last minute and tightened the grip on it instead.
Nancy returned the squeeze and smiled at the nervous girl beside her.
Robin told herself that she made the right decision when all eyes in the room darted toward her.
Mike muttered a hi at her then got back to eating fried green beans from the serving platter.
Karen threw a look to her husband and son before she rolled her at their uninterest. She did the classic mom move and wiped her hands on the apron she was wearing and walked towards the women who just entered.
“Hi Robin, I’m Karen, Nancy's mother.” She said holding out her hand for Robin to shake.
Unfortunately Robin was out of hands, left was held by Nancy and right held the bouquet of tulips.
Robin resorted to putting the flowers into Karen’s hand instead.
“A pleasure to meet you Mrs Wheeler, these are for you” Robin said, almost too quickly for Karen to understand what she said.
“Oh how sweet of you,” Karen said and studied the tulips further. “I love them, thank you”
Karen turned flowers in hand to fetch a vase for them, all whilst trying to get her husband to stop embarrassing them by his lack of engagement.
“Ted, look how lovely the tulips are that Robin brought.” She said, as she put them in the vase.
The man, who was seemingly more interested in the article in front of him didn’t even look up before agreeingly humming, “very lovely” to his wife.
“I’m so sorry about him” Karen said apologetically, Robin couldn’t figure out if the apology was aimed at her or Nancy so all she did was smile toward the woman who proceeded to go tell her husband off whilst putting the flowers on the table.
Robin and Nance turn their attention towards Holly and her drawings.
“Holly, honey, this is Robin.” Nancy said, grabbing the attention of the youngest Wheeler. “She’s my girlfriend”
Robin almost choked on her own saliva when she heard how blunt Nancy had been with their relationship to the kid. Robin carefully glanced up at the other people in the room. She felt ease settle in her stomach as she noticed that no one batted an eye.
Holly glanced up from the paper in front of her and took a closer look at Robin.
“She looks kinda cool.” Holly commented, Nance kissed the back of Robins hand whilst Mike passed the group, ruffled Holly's hair and said, “she is, kinda cool, in fact.”
Robin slowly settled into the dynamic of the wheelers.
She struck up conversation with Karen and complimented Hollys drawings.
Nancy smiled at the view, her girlfriend and her family all together.
Suddenly however the view was disturbed by an annoying ring of the doorbell.
“Who can that be?” Nancy asked and raised her eyebrow in confusion towards her mother.
“I don’t know” she replied, “can you get the door, Ted, I need to check on the oven.”
Ted wasn’t fazed by what she had said and remained seated in his chair.
The whole room looked at him in dissapointment, until the doorbell rang again and Nance let out an exaggerated sigh and went to get the door.
Robin moved closer to Mike who was rummaging the fridge for a coke can.
“Who do you recon it is?” She asked.
“At the door?” Mike said, “if we’re lucky, it’s mormons or something”
Robin smiled to hid a laugh at his statement, she couldn’t deny that she would thank her lucky star if it was someone who didn’t demand to come inside. Meeting the Wheelers was more than enough for today.
Luck however wasn’t usually something that followed Robin.
What followed Nancy was a boy, slightly younger than her, and a man who looked to be about Karen's age.
“John?” Karen let out when she saw him. “What are you doing here?”
“Is that the way to greet your brother?” The man who Robin now understood was Nancy's uncle John said, as he held his arms out towards his sister.
Nancy took place beside Robin and put an arm around her waist, pulling her closer until they were hip to hip.
Robin's body language had gone back to being stiff and unnatural, Nancy cursed her uncle and cousin for dropping by unannounced.
“Who do we have here?” The cousin asked as his eyes flickered between Nancy and Mike, eventually landing on Robin in the middle.
Robin felt Nancy's grip on her waist tightened a little in a familiar way, Nancy was getting both protective and jealous.
“Well Fredrick,” Nancy began, “this is Robin, she was invited here today”
Fredrick didn’t catch the tone in Nancy’s voice and didn’t really realise that he was crashing a dinner, so instead he simple just nodded at Nancys reply before he turned towards the stove and walked over, asking what's for dinner to anyone who was willing to reply.
“We’ll go get the extra plates” Nancy called out towards her mother and then pulled Robin along with her into the living room where they kept their fancy plates and saucers.
“Do you need me to be a friend?” Robin asked. She had searched her mind for some time, trying to find a less blunt way to ask, but this was the only way she came up with.
“No” Nancy replied immediately. “Maybe we hold up on telling them straight up, but we can always let them wonder…”
Dinner passed in a blink of an eye, Robin had been seated between Nancy and Fredrick, who had done clumsy attempts at flirting with her.
Attempts that almost made Robin want the crawl out of her own skin with discomfort.
She was uncomfortable physically too, the choice of clothing was proofing itself to be the wrong one now, with the bra that digged into her back, and the blouse the was itching all over.
The flirty cousin made Nancy crazy with jealousy, and the visual discomfort in the girl beside her had her spending the majority of dinner trying to find ways to make Robin relax, whilst simultaneously reminding both her and in extension everyone else who Robin really was with.
When her mother was gathering  everyone’s plates Nance reached up the back of Robin's blouse, and unbuckled the bra as discreetly as she could. She saw the way Robins body visibly relaxed whilst her face grew a faint blush.
Nancy ran her finger across the marks on Robin's back that the bra had left.
She trailed her fingers across her girlfriends back, gracing the side of her boob on the opposite side.
Robin was trying not to have any visual reaction to it,but the blush that painted her cheeks was telling something though.
“You seem tense, baby” Nancy whispered in Robins ear.
“I’m not use to straight men hitting on me” Robin whisper back in an attempt to be funny. It however has the opposite effect on Nancy.
“Cmon, lets go upstairs,” Nancy said, and grabbed Robins hand steadily.
“Nance, dessert will be out in a little while”  Karen said as she noticed the two girlfriends leaving the table.
“Well be down for dessert,” Nancy just said and dragged the blonder girl upstairs.
Inside the bedroom Nancy was quick to lock the door.
“take off your top” Nancy said, already unbuttoning her own dress.
“Nance, can we really do this with your relatives downstairs?” Robin said, her own mind conflicted, she wanted Nancy right now, oh god she wanted Nancy but at the same time it felt almost illegal.
Nancy who by now only was in her bra, panties and thigh high stockings walked over to her and softly pushed her to sit on the bed. Robin didn’t even have time to blink until Nance was straddling her.
“Do you want to?” Nancy asked, voice fully serious, “Cmon, use your words for me”
“I..uhm, I mean I want to.. but eh” Robin began, her mind running wild, her eyes glued to Nancy's tits.
“Think of yourself now Robin, do you want to?” Nancy said, a steady hand under Robin's chin, bringing her eyes up to face her.
“I want to,, oh fuck i want to.” Robin said.
“Okay, then forget all about them and focus on me now”
Robin nodded and looked longingly at Nancy.
That was all Nancy needed to remove the blouse and the already unclasped bra from the girl under her.
“Fuck I love your tits.” Nancy muttered and pushed Robin to lay her back onto the bed, she attached her lips to Robins nipple and it made shivers spread across Robin.
“Oh Nance.” She moaned.
“You’re. All. Mine. Okay?” Nancy said, alternating between sucking, kissing and biting Robins tits, collarbone and neck.
“Uhu” Robin moaned agreeingly, pushing Nancys face closer to her own chest.
“Say it” Nancy said.
“I’m yours,” Robin said, without hesitation.
“That’s it, that’s true, all mine” Nancy said as she got to work with Robins pantbutton. “Now let me know how good I make you feel okay?”
Robin swore she almost screamed when Nancy's lips attached to her clit.
She bit her bottom lip until she almost tasted blood to keep herself from moaning loudly.
Nancy noticed how Robin held back.
She held up, removing her lips from the aching cunt in front of her, opting  for featherlight rubs right next to the clit. Her plan worked like a charm, cause Robin's face shot up instantly.
“Didn’t I ask you to do something?” Nancy asked.
Robin blushed and Nancy moved up until the two was face to face.
“You worry too much my darling” Nancy said and pressed a kiss to Robins forehead. “Wanna talk about it?”
“What if they hear me?” Robin admitted, looking up at Nancy.
“Honey, I wouldn’t have brought you up here if it meant that we would be giving them a show,” Nancy explained, instantly calming the girl. “The walls are super thick, I’m talking high-speed-vibrator-with-my-brother-next-door level thick, no one will hear a thing”
“Okay, that’s good” Robin said, now smiling at Nancy.
“Anything else floating around in here?” Nancy said, rubbing her thumb comfortingly across Robins forehead.
“Nothing more than the fact that you look so gorgeous” she replied.
“Then you’re good to continue?” Nancy asked.
“Yes I am” Robin replied.
“And you’ll tell me if you’re not?” Nancy asked with a cocked eyebrow.
“Promise,” Robin said, “now back to where you were.”
“Hey! Patience please” Nancy said.
“Sorry, could you please continue?” Robin said correcting herself.
“Good girl,” Nancy praised as she got back in between her girlfriends legs.
Robin didn’t hold back her moans this time, they only grew louder and louder and soon she was a blubbering mess on Nancy’s bed.
“Fuck Nance”
Nancy inserted two fingers into Robin with ease and it made the blonde choke on a moan.
“You’re doing so good for me Robbie” Nance began, one hand pumping in and out whilst the other was rubbing steady circles over her clit. “You wanna cum?”
Robin nodded frantically almost fucking herself onto Nancys fingers.
“Uhuh, really want to cum Nance” Robin moaned out.
“Cum for me, soak my fingers baby” Nancy said and it didn’t take long for Robin to comply.
Nancy let her ride out the orgasm before she removed her fingers and dove forward to give Robin kisses.
“You did so good” she said.
Robin looked ecstatic, calm and comfortable all at once.
“Fuck Nancy that was fantastic.” Robin said.”I love you”
“I love you too” Nancy said, “now let’s find something else for you to wear, cause I love you, and that blouse might be pretty but it’s not you”
Robin propped herself up on her elbows and watched how Nancy's tits bounced and how her hips swayed as she walked over to the dresser that was across the room.
“You don’t want me to repay the favour?” Robin asked, very aware of the fact that she was the only one of the two that just had an orgasm.
“If we’re not back downstairs soon someone will come looking for us..” Nancy explained. “But I was thinking that I maybe could ride your face later tonight?”
“I would love it” Robin and held out her arms for the shirt Nancy had picked out.
When the two returned downstairs Mike analysed the state of Robin for point one second before he pulled his big sister into the hallway.
“Did you seriously go upstairs to have sex?” Mike asked, sounding shocked. “In the middle of  dinner?”
“I dunno why you sound so appalled by the idea, I mean you were the one to wank in Nanas bathroom at Christmas” Nancy shot back at her little brother.
Mike grew beetroot red instantly.
“Yeah, I got shit on you too, so shut your mouth Michael” Nancy said before returning to her girlfriend, who now seemed much more at ease.

Chapter 5 - Steve
Words: 1326
Here is the post that started it of and chapters 1, 2, 3 and 4.
“Whatcha thinking, Steve the Hair?”
“Jesus, Buckley.”
I laugh quietly as Robin shoves me against the cold glass, perching on the edge of the window seat. I drop Eddie’s hand as inconspicuously as I can.
“So?” she asks, elbowing my arm, “A penny for your thoughts. Go.”
I sigh, “My parents are out of the house for a week. You know what I would have done two years ago?”
“Throw a massive rager, hook up with some chick, get really drunk and maybe take some drugs?”
“Yep.” I survey the room, “But now? Now I invite over a bunch of highschoolers, my ex, a lesbian and a murder suspect to play D&D.”
Robin smiles, “D’you miss the old Steve?”
“The absolute douchebag that hated anyone different, was homophobic and was extremely posessive of my girlfriend?” I ask, “No. No, I don’t miss him.”
“You shouldn’t.” Robin confirms.
I fiddle with my hands. I’d been planning this. I’d been planning it for a while. “Robin…” I start. She raises an eyebrow. “I…I just…”
“Steve, if you’re gonna re-confess love to me,” she says, “I don’t know what to tell you. The only thing about you I find romantically attractive is your ex. Exes.” I laugh quietly.
“Yeah, no, I just…” Come on Harrington. Just do it. “I…”
A stir can be heard from behind us. Nancy’s eyes slowly open. I notice the blanket she’s using is tucked carefully around her body and, remembering that Robin was sharing it with her before she came over here, smile. Robin cares about Nancy, that much is obvious.
“Hey,” Robin says, “Did we wake you?”
“Nah, I’m a light sleeper.” Nancy replies, rubbing her eyes, “And that moonlight’s fricking bright.”
She gently moves Max and Eleven so they’re leaning on each other instead of her. Her feet patter against the cold wood as she makes her way over to us and Robin moves to the floor to give her room on the window seat. But now Nancy’s listening I can’t…I can’t do it. My slight confidence in coming out to Robin evaporates like smoke. Or is it mist? Or steam?
“Steve was just about to reveal a mysterious truth about himself.” Robin says, her head leaning against Nancy’s knees. Nancy looks up with interest, snarkiness and yet, still, kindness.
“Oh?” she asks. Oh indeed.
“Nah, it’s nothing.” I rub the back of my neck. Robin raises her eyebrows.
“No, it’s not.” she says, “Tell me. Now.”
I frown, “And what if I just…didn’t?” Robin groans.
“C’mon, Rob,” Nancy says softly, “Don’t push him.” Robin concedes.
Her and Nancy begin muttering to each other about - God, I don’t know - and I stare at the moon. The glow is magnificent and powerful, falling directly onto the boy asleep opposite me. And now I’m staring at Eddie. I swear it was an accident.
He looks so beautiful in the nightlight. His hair, pulled in a messy ponytail, boasts stripes of moonlit white in between the charcoal black. His knees tucked up to his chin, he looks so…small. I just wanna kiss him, really.
As if his brain caught my thoughts, his breath stutters to a wake. He glances up, a cocky smile already perched on his lips.
“Hey b-” he says, taking in the girls just in time, “...Harrington.”
Guilt flashes across Nancy’s face, “Oh, crap, were we too loud? Sorry.”
“Ouch, Wheeler.” Eddie says, “You’re that sad I’m awake? C’mon man.”
He stretches, exposing a strip of skin below his shirt, and stands. “I’m going for some air. Anyone coming?”
Robin glances at him skeptically, “It’s like 2 am.”
“Your point being?”
“I’ll come.” I offer, and Eddie smiles quickly as he outstretches his hand. I hesitate for a split second before accepting.
We head outside, where the warm night is cooler than usual. Summer is slowly reaching its end and soon Eddie will be returning to his remote home. Alone. Where the Christians of Hawkins can’t hurt him.
“You look sad,” Eddie observes, perched on the railing of my porch. His eyes are slightly furrowed.
“No, it’s…” I look down at my hands, “It’s nothing.”
Eddie frowns at me, in thought. I avert my gaze. He clicks his tongue and grabs my hand, leading me away from the light of the house and the window. We traipse around my house to a darkened corner, away from street lamps and random neighbors up at 2.
“Wipe that smile off your face,” Eddie says, grinning even as he says it, “I didn’t bring you here to make out with you.”
I contort my face into an unimpressed expression.
“Ok, maybe we will.” he concedes, “But first, you’re gonna tell me what the issue is.”
“I told you, it’s nothing.”
Eddies hands are either side of my face and his lips are on mine before anything else can happen. I don’t think, don’t hear, don’t see, all I do is feel his silken hair in my hands, my back pressed against the wall, and sink into him. But now he’s pulling away, his intense black eyes burrowing into my brown ones.
“Is it, Harrington? Is it nothing?” he asks. I attempt a cocky smile.
“Did you just kiss me so I would talk?” I ask. Eddie shrugs.
“Maybe. What’s it to you?”
I clear my throat. “Fine,” I mutter, almost too quiet for him to hear, “I just…I don’t want you to go…”
Eddie’s eyebrows raise in clear confusion, “Go?”
“Home.” I say, still staring at my feet, “Away. Go, to your home, which is away from here. Away from me.”
“We call almost every day.” Eddie says softly.
“It’s not the same.”
He stays silent.
“I wish we could meet more,” I continue, “I wish Hawkins hadn’t driven you away, I wish I hadn’t spent nearly a year thinking you were dead, I wish I had asked you out ages ago.” I scoff. “I wish I could kiss you in public”
Eddie sucks in his breath. We never really explicitly discuss the biggest elephant in every room, but we need to. I need to.
“I can’t bring myself to tell anyone we’re dating…” I mutter “and-”
“Hey, there you are.” Robin says, appearing from around the house. She swipes the back of her hand against her mouth and skids to a stop in front of us. “Why’re you over in a dark, secluded corner? Just here to sell some drugs?”
“The only drug here is me.” Eddie says, grinning. All evidence of the somberity of the conversation mere moments ago has vanished. I clear my throat.
“What’s up?” I ask, very obviously diverting the attention away from us, “Where’s Nancy?”
“Max had a nightmare again,” Robin says, “so Nancy’s comforting her.” There’s a palpable tenderness to the way she says her name.
“Hey, Eddie,” I say, forcing myself to leave his side, “Feel free to raid my fridge. There’ll be some good midnight snacks somewhere.”
Eddie winks at both me and Robin, immediately understanding what I’m trying to hint at. Then, as he walks away from the two of us, he shoots me a double thumbs up. I really can’t ask for a better boyfriend.
I get out a cigarette to steal myself, but Robin snatches it immediately. “No,” she demands, “Gross. Stop.” I groan.
“What’s up with you tonight?” she asks, staring at me, “You’re agitated, you’re twitchy, you’re smoking. What’s wrong?”
I should do it. I know I should. It’s only fair to Eddie, literally the best thing to happen to me. It’s only fair to me, to finally share this massive weight with my best friend. I should take a deep breath, stop being ashamed of who I am and tell my lesbian friend that I’m bi. It should be easy.
“It’s…” Fuck. “It’s nothing.”
“Are you sure?” There’s concern in Robin’s eyes and I hate doing this to both of us.
“Yeah.” I mutter, “Everything’s fine.”
Holy shit it’s been a while. Sorry about that lmao. I hope you enjoyed this slightly-shorter chapter, and know I have all the next chapters lined up, so it’s only a matter of posting them.

6x10 In a Flash - more thoughts
Also not me sitting over here thinking about that line Margaret said to Buck in the wake of the donor reveal about how “You are a miracle baby.” - which everyone there not in the loop would assume to mean they wanted him, but weren’t sure they could have him - and there is absolutely no way for Buck to react to just what a fucked up thing to say that is without letting everybody in on the whole sordid family history, but at the same time, it’d be a fricking dogwhistle to him about what she actually thinks (that it’s an idiotic choice)...
So everybody in the tag being livid about a potential Buckley parent redemption arc needs to sit down and touch some grass, because no way that shit is happening.
The fucking LAYERS in that show. Man.

Note
*ahem* I would be very interested in your thoughts about how Buck eats.
Why did I feel like that tag would prompt this 😅
So, I guess I firstly gotta specify that Buck has been eating like *that* since the pilot, so this is a character choice and one that's been there from day one AND through all the versions of Buck.
Never been taught to eat 'properly'
(Why yes, we have headings, because otherwise I will get lost). Given what we now know about the Buckley parents, it very much makes sense that they never really cared enough about him to either make sure he learnt how to eat 'properly', or looked at him long enough (when he wasn't injuring himself) to correct him. He was clearly never told to slow down or chew or not talk with his mouth full. Even if he *was*, negative attention is better than no attention, so it would just reinforce the idea that this is another way to get his parents to pay attention to him.
We see that he gets attention for picking at food with his hands in season 1, so it adds up to me.
Food security
Once he'd gone to college, I'm guessing that his money was not necessarily going towards food. Then, once he was on the road, who knows how regularly he was getting paid. He could sleep in his truck, but food's another matter. Some of the places he worked, like the ranch, seem like the kind of place that might do board and food (I am solidly guessing here!) but I doubt Peru did the same. So, he's gonna eat when he can, niceties be damned!
I guess we can also stretch that to the fact that the 118 sometimes gets to sit down for nice meals, but sometimes they just can't catch a break and gotta grab that last bite of a bread roll and run out!
Make do with or without cutlery
A related point to the above, but one that carries on once he's in LA in a way, from the one time we see his apartment - there's a box of pizza on the table so he's not doing formal sit down meals that require knowledge of cutlery. His nerves during the Abby date in 1x06 are in part cos it's Abby, but the establishment seems so out of his depth too - that whole wine selection conversation is partially youth and partially just never having even seen that!
Eating around others
It's all the above - not eating around others enough to be told to shut his mouth when eating, and then it's just how it goes.
So, whilst him being able to eat a cupcake in one go is fricking hilarious (the mouth on that man 👀) it's also like ... why does he eat like it's going out of fashion 🥺

So what’s up with the Buckley siblings going through a traumatic experience and getting a check they don’t want out of it? I feel like that is the pecuniary equivalent of what they got with their parents and it’s really fricking sad.
