I just wanted to give everyone a heads up that 30+ brands of nutrition drinks including but not limited to Ensure, Pediasure, Glucerna, Oatly, and Premier Protein just got recalled for possible contamination with the bacteria that causes botulism, a paralytic toxin with a lethal dose of 1.3 nanograms. If you've purchased one of the affected lot numbers please return it to the store to be properly disposed of as a biohazard but do not accept any compensatory gift cards because that can be counted as a settlement if you need to file a lawsuit for any potential damages caused by this later on. If you have any questions regarding the recall there's a phone number listed in the article above that you can call, but if you believe you may have ingested toxins then please call your local poison control hotline. Stay safe

PLEASE SPREAD AWARENESS
(no pun intended)
(And guess which little shit just opened and consumed peanut butter from a jar with lot numbers between 1274425 – 2140425 after this article was published nine hours ago and only just now showed up on their news dash?)
(If I die in the next few weeks, this could very well be why.)
Edit: If you get salmonella from this, you need to do your best to remain hydrated. It causes severe diarrhea, so you need to make sure you constantly take in fluids. It's rare to need to be hospitalized for this and/or die.
From the article:
For many infected people, symptoms appear 12 to 72 hours after contact and often include diarrhea, fever and abdominal cramps, according to the FDA. Most people who are infected recover within four to seven days and do not need any treatment.
And from the CDC's website: Symptoms usually begin 6 hours to 6 days after infection and last 4 to 7 days.

Ground cinnamon sold at discount stores is tainted with lead, FDA warns - ABC News
Ground cinnamon sold by U.S. discount retailers is contaminated with high levels of lead and should be discarded, federal health officials said Wednesday.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration said cinnamon sold by stores including the Dollar Tree and Family Dollar contains lead at levels that could be unsafe for people, particularly children, with prolonged exposure to the spice. The agency urged suppliers to recall the products voluntarily.
Cinnamon products included in the agency's safety alert include the La Fiesta brand sold by La Superior and SuperMercados; Marcum brand sold by Save A Lot stores; MK brands sold by SF Supermarket; Swad brand sold by Patel Brothers; El Chilar brand sold by La Joya Morelense; and Supreme Tradition brand sold by Dollar Tree and Family Dollar stores.  ...

Kerrygold and PFAS
https://www.msn.com/en-us/money/companies/why-was-kerrygold-butter-recalled-what-to-know-about-the-reported-pfas-contamination/ar-AA17QH2D
Avid bakers and dairy enthusiasts have likely noticed that a widely popular butter brand has been missing from grocery store shelves, as of late.
According to Top Class Actions, Ornua Foods North America Inc. is being sued violating New York General Business Law, breach of express warranty, negligent misrepresentation and unjust enrichment in Carolyn Winans et al., v. Ornua Foods North America Inc. The case has been filed in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York.
The plaintiff claims Ornua Foods should have warned customers about the presence of toxins in its products, specifically within the grease-resistant packaging, as it posed serious health risks.
“PFAS are a group of synthetic, man-made, chemicals known to be harmful to both humans and the environment,” the Kerrygold class action states, per Top Class Action. “Because PFAS persist and accumulate over time, they are harmful even at very low levels.”
According to 961 The Breeze, the contaminated products in question included: Kerrygold salted butter sticks, UPC 00767707002149, any best by date; and Kerrygold unsalted butter sticks, UPC 00767707002156, any best by date; from Walmart, Target, Tops, and Wegmans. Those who purchased contaminated products can return them for a full refund, and can now expect to see the same products with updated packaging in each of those stores.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced an investigation into a listeria outbreak that has been reported in six different states and has infected 16 people.
At least 13 people have been hospitalized and one pregnant person suffered a pregnancy loss due to the illness. Additionally, one death has been reported from Maryland, according to a release Wednesday.
Most people reported recently eating meat or cheese from deli counters, according to the CDC, who is now working to identify the specific products that may be contaminated.
The CDC also reported that eleven of the reported cases were found in people of Eastern European descent or who speak Russian.
Listeria is a bacterial illness that happens after eating contaminated food. Each year, roughly 1,600 people get sick and 260 people die from listeria contamination. People who are pregnant, adults over 65 and immunocompromised people are most at risk, according to the CDC.
The CDC recommends cleaning the refrigerator, containers and surfaces that may have touched meat or cheese from a deli and to avoid consuming meat and cheese from a deli counter, especially for those considered high risk.

There's a new recall that I would like to spread awareness of: Great Value Shredded Hashbrowns have been recalled for possible contamination with listeria. Listeria can cause food poisoning and flu-like symptoms in healthy adults, but it more commonly affects infants, pregnant people, senior citizens, and the immunocompromised. In these groups it can also lead to more severe infections including sepsis, meningitis, and encephalitis, and symptoms of listeriosis can appear up to 2 months after a contaminated food item has been consumed. This recall currently only includes 64 oz bags with the following date codes and UPC, but if you're seeing this on any date other than the one listed above please make sure to check if the recall has been expanded:
Description: Great Value 64 oz Frozen Shredded Hashbrowns
UPC: 7874215557
Dates: 7/25/2023, 7/26/2023, 9/14/2023
This recall hasn't yet been reported by the FDA and at the moment this information is only being communicated by email to people that Walmart has records of having ordered Great Value Frozen Hashbrowns within the past 6 months, so if people wouldn't mind reblogging to spread awareness (especially among disability and parenting circles) I would greatly appreciate it. The current direction from the company is to discard affected bags and request a refund from the store, but I would caution against accepting any compensatory gift cards from the store in addition to your refund because they may try to claim it as a settlement if you need to sue for medical bills or damages later on

The recall comes on the heels of the grocery chain's broccoli cheddar soup potentially containing insects and two cookie products also potentially containing rocks
For the third time in a week, a product at Trader Joe's is being recalled — this time it’s the Fully Cooked Falafel because it “may contain rocks."
Last Friday, the popular grocery store chain announced it was recalling two cookie products after it discovered they might also contain rocks. And on Thursday, it said its Unexpected Broccoli Cheddar Soup is being recalled in seven states because the product "may contain insects.”
The recall of the Fully Cooked Falafel affects the product in at least 33 states, the company announced Friday.  ...
Yeah, bugs in my soup would be unexpected allright.
Maybe they should just run with the rocks idea.....

WASHINGTON (AP) — Consumers should double-check their jars of Jif peanut butter amid a recall, the Food and Drug Administration and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention say.
Jif’s creamy, crunchy, natural and reduced fat peanut butters have been linked to a salmonella outbreak across 12 states that has left 14 ill, with two people being hospitalized. Side effects from salmonella poisoning include fever, diarrhea, nausea and vomiting.
The J.M. Smucker Co. announced a voluntary recall Friday of some Jif peanut butter products for potential salmonella contamination. Jars with lot codes 1274425 through 2140425 have been recalled and should be disposed, the company said.
Jif is sold at retailers nationwide. States reporting salmonella cases are Arkansas, Georgia, Illinois, Massachusetts, Missouri, Ohio, North Carolina, New York, South Carolina, Texas, Virginia and Washington.
